Esta semana ha sido de mucho aprendizaje. Hoy, mientras hablaba con Andrés, me di cuenta que realmente uno no elige con quien estar por ser la más linda o la más inteligente y quisiera abrazar a la Ana María de antes que se esforzaba en esos sentidos para ser elegida y que sentía que carecía de valor porque su promedio no era 4.8. La mayoría de veces que la vida no me dió lo que quería, me lo cambió por lo que realmente necesitaba. La vida a veces es tan fácil como que tu familia y tú tengan salud, duermas bien y aprecies todo lo bueno que esté a tu alrededor. Casi siempre pensamos más en lo que falta que en lo que está y se nos olvida agradecer.

Con esto no quiero fomentar un falso positivismo, sé que hay problemas que no se pueden solucionar romantizando la vida, pero espero que le llegue a alguien que al igual que yo se estaba ahogando en una escupa.

Me di cuenta que cuando no estoy ansiosa evito la verborrea, por lo que no escribo tanto aquí.

Quizás ahora en cinco minutos esté estresada porque no sé cómo hacer para entrar a la residencia, a qué edad voy a traer a mi primogénito, cómo hacerle saber a mi futuro hombre que me puede pedir matrimonio en un safari en África… pero lo importante es que en este momento estoy rodeada de mucho amor y herramientas que me permiten atravesar la hostilidad de la vida.

O segundo álbum de Marina Sena invade as plataformas musicais com uma espécie de synth-pop tropical, remetendo às suas origens enquanto desbrava a noite paulistana.

Vício Inerente é o segundo álbum da cantora Marina Sena, mineira, que já tem uma longa trajetória na música. Porém, nada dela tinha me chamado atenção antes de Por Supuesto, faixa de seu álbum de estreia, — De Primeira, lançado em 2021 — altamente aclamado pela crítica, o qual eu não escutei até hoje. Depois de muito tempo em bandas, Marina teve uma estreia solo estrondosa que revirou sua vida de ponta-cabeça, e é claro, a transição de Minas Gerais para São Paulo influenciou em seu som. Unida ao seu namorado e produtor Iuri Rio Branco — que já trabalhou em faixas incríveis e que eu amo como Ritual do álbum autointitulado de Davi Sabbag — e às novas experiências, Marina entrega um espetacular segundo álbum, que mais serve como primeiro para aqueles que não tiveram um contato posterior com a artista como eu.

O álbum abre com Dano Sarrada, e a música traduz exatamente sobre o que esse disco vai falar: a luxúria contida no amor. É uma música bem animada com melodias de funk que fazem toda diferença durante o refrão bem ritmado, com os vocais embebidos em Auto-Tune, de uma forma que não estraga a experiência. A produção de Rio Branco ao longo do álbum fica cada vez melhor, mas nessa faixa ela está incrível. É uma ótima abertura de álbum.

Depois, somos apresentados ao segundo single e faixa do disco: Olho no Gato. Com uma certa melancolia nas suas entrelinhas, Marina canta sobre um relacionamento que vai e vem, mas que não consegue sair de sua cabeça. O pré-refrão e o próprio refrão elevam a música a um nível inigualável junto de sua produção esplendorosa. A estética etérea aparece para colocar a cereja nesse bolo durante a ponte da música, com um instrumental extremamente detalhado e muito bem construído a nos fazer absorver todo esse sentimento e desejo que a música nos mostra. Como a própria diz na canção: “Me conhece, sabe que eu sou pura emoção / Sabe, eu tô aqui no seu portão”, e para ser sincero, eu abriria meu portão depois de receber uma canção dessa. É um dos pontos altos do disco.

O primeiro single, e terceira faixa do álbum, Tudo Pra Amar Você, é um city-pop tropical, com afrobeats que deixam a música extremamente sensual apesar da letra contar sobre uma relação que não vai tão bem assim... Eu já tinha amado essa faixa como primeiro single, porém dentro do álbum ela ficou ainda melhor. É uma jogada muito segura para um primeiro single, com uma dancinha e refrão chiclete. O ponto alto, sem dúvida, além da produção da faixa que tem uma vertente mais experimental para o final da mesma, com um saxofone no instrumental, são os vocais de Marina com um certo tipo de eco que deixa ainda melhor e faz a faixa acabar no seu ápice. Outro destaque vai pro videoclipe extremamente sensual e dançante, com uma estética muito bonitinha que mostra Marina e seus amigos jogando baralho, ou uma estratégia muito boa para atrair seu amado até o que ela quer mesmo.

Em Tudo Seu, a lírica, infelizmente, é a parte mais fraca. Parece um bando de palavras aleatórias juntadas com a mesma sonoridade ou que foram simplesmente encaixadas, porém isso não tira a diversão da faixa, que tem os vocais deliciosos de Marina e uma produção incrível com direito à um solo de guitarra no outro! É uma faixa que funciona muito bem dentro do álbum e que não deve ser descartada apesar de ser meio filler, mas um filler de extrema qualidade.

Quando Mande um Sinal iniciou, eu não pude acreditar no que estava ouvindo. Um blues incrível no meio do álbum, quebrando totalmente o ritmo animado que estava sendo construído desde a primeira faixa! Não me pegou de primeira, porém ao longo das vezes que ouvi, eu me encantei demais por essa faixa. Provavelmente lembrarei dela quando estiver escrevendo alguma coisa e é uma faixa que facilmente poderia estar em uma trilha sonora de novela da Globo. Rio Branco não estava para brincadeira quando ele decidiu produzir esse projeto porque todos os outros desse disco são fenomenais de bons, esse em específico, é um dos meus favoritos do álbum: o bumbo marcando o início, junto de um instrumental regido pelo piano enquanto Marina proclama o quanto ela quer o seu amado. Um caos orquestrado muito delicioso de ouvir.

Retornando à sonoridade pop do álbum, temos Me Ganhar, que tem um pop mais obscuro e mais latino comparado às faixas anteriores. A melodia me lembra um pouco aquela canção You Don’t Own Me que aparece no filme Esquadrão Suicida. Essa música me fez ter a sensação de estar ouvindo algo que eu não deveria, ainda mais nos versos mais sussurrados do segundo verso. É uma faixa que cumpre seu papel e a instrumentação do pré-refrão é algo que eu tenho que realçar porque como ela constrói a atmosfera até o refrão é algo muito satisfatório. A lírica engraçadinha, mas safadinha, é um ponto alto e que casa muito bem com a obra toda.

A única participação do álbum vem por conta do rapper paulistano Fleezus, na faixa Que Tal, o qual foi uma grande inspiração para Marina durante a produção e composição do seu segundo álbum. Essa é, sem dúvida, minha faixa favorita do álbum inteiro. A mescla de vozes de Fleezus e de Marina é algo que me deixou hipnotizado desde a primeira vez que eu ouvi essa canção. Dançante por conta do instrumental artificial ritmado agitado, a referência à sua antiga banda Rosa Neon no verso de Fleezus, essa daqui é a síntese do que seria um synth-pop tropical. Sensual, incrível, com harmonias que dão sabor de ouvir. Alguns versos podem parecer longos demais para o ritmo, mas não foi algo que me incomodou, pelo contrário, eu amei esse fato, que fica mais evidente na parte da Marina. O rap de ambos casa demais com essa faixa, desaguando em um final com uma harmonia incrível entre os dois artistas. Parabéns, Marina, Iuri e Fleezus, vocês garantiram uma longa estadia nas minhas playlists com essa faixa.  

A faixa mais curta do álbum é Meu Paraíso Sou Eu, que mais serve de um interlúdio, na minha opinião. Fiquei indignado pela duração dela, pois queria um pouco mais. Assim como Mande um Sinal, não me pegou na primeira vez que ouvi, mas depois cresceu muito em mim. Essa faixa remete muito à estética do álbum e particularmente à capa do projeto junto com a última faixa, todavia retomarei isso quando for falar sobre. Em suma, é uma faixa muito gostosa, porém, confesso que eu pularia algumas vezes enquanto ouço o disco.

Partiu Capoeira é a nona faixa, uma mistura entre o axé e alguns elementos do pagode. O Auto-Tune volta bonitinho nessa faixa, que infelizmente, não bateu comigo. Ela tem um refrão bem grudento e tem um ótimo potencial para ser single pois é bem radiofônica! Apesar de não ter gostado muito da canção, eu não skiparia caso estivesse escutando o álbum todo porque é bem gostosa!

Embora eu não tenha ouvido o primeiro álbum de Marina, é inevitável descrever esse álbum como futurista e experimental. Em Mais de Mil, o experimentalismo está em seu ápice. Vocais distorcidos, as nuances de funk antes apresentadas em Dano Sarrada, sem tirar a base do synth-pop que está regindo o álbum. O refrão muito bom, mas os versos são ainda melhores, o que não tira nem um pouco a qualidade do álbum e da música. O tesão entregue nessa faixa é palpável, constrangedor e delicioso. Devo dizer que a música cresce exatamente como um orgasmo. Intencional ou não, não sei. É um dos pontos altos do álbum, apesar de estar entre as três últimas, que demonstra que Marina não veio para brincar, mostrando sua versatilidade artística e que seu álbum não fica mais fraco perto do final.

Assim como Tudo Seu, Sonho Bom é outro clássico caso de filler, mas aquele filler que vale a pena escutar. A lírica me deixou meio incomodado em algumas partes junto com a melodia da canção, mas nada que me faça querer pular a música. Na verdade, eu acho que ela pode crescer ainda mais depois de algumas escutadas, o que para mim, não aconteceu ainda. Adorei o saxofone no finalzinho junto com o instrumental, salvou muito a minha experiência e com certeza ganhou uns pontos a mais por isso.

O ponto alto do disco está justamente na canção que o conclui, Pra Ficar Comigo. Uma ambient music que facilmente estaria no último álbum da Caroline Polachek, sendo a primeira faixa do álbum sem ter nenhuma conotação sexual, que é a faixa perfeita para encerrar a obra. A síntese do álbum, com efeitos que lembram o canto de sereias, uma melodia que me recorda vagamente de Time Machine da WILLOW, só que de uma forma mais interessante. Um city-pop perfeito para se ouvir enquanto dirige de madrugada em São Paulo. Essa é a certeza que um álbum não precisa ficar inferior quando chega às últimas faixas.

A capa de Vício Inerente é magnifica. O conceito de estar presa em uma caixa com o fundo urbano, representando São Paulo, e a concha em seu ouvido querendo ouvir suas raízes, o lugar de onde ela veio é muito incrível. As cores e tons de azul, a tipografia no logo me trazem um ar mais futurista. É uma das capas mais bonitas que eu já vi no pop brasileiro.

Vício Inerente é um álbum que não deve passar desapercebido, embora tenha lido muitas críticas em relação ao disco, como o uso excessivo do Auto-Tune ou que ele é inferior ao primeiro álbum da artista, foi uma experiência incrível para eu ter escutado e desfrutado do mundo utópico, mas palpável, que Marina criou em seu álbum que retrata a noite: o sexo, a saudade, o desejo, os pensamentos intrusivos que cortam e te deixam acordado a noite toda, a luxúria, os atos impulsivos e reflexões que a noite nos traz. Como primeiro contato que eu tive, me instigou a procurar mais sobre o trabalho dela e ver a dualidade e versatilidade que ela apresenta em sua discografia, seja conjunta ou solo.

O álbum é coeso, uma sensação etérea que percorre ele inteiro e não falta em nenhuma música. Porém, algumas músicas — Tudo Pra Amar Você, Olho No Gato, Partiu Capoeira, Que Tal e Dano Sarrada — funcionam perfeitamente soltas. Incluiria Pra Ficar Comigo nessa lista também, porém eu acho que perde muito do significado quando a ouve sozinha e não como o encerramento do álbum, sem deixar aquele gostinho de quero mais. Adorei o fato das músicas serem longas e dela não ter se rendido à geração TikTok, apesar que eu acho que muitas músicas tem o potencial de fazerem sucesso na plataforma. Com muitos refrões grudentos, uma produção inigualável e líricas cheia de tesão, Marina Sena me fez ficar viciado em seu mais novo disco, que sem dúvida, virou um dos meus discos brasileiros favoritos por conta da sua autenticidade.

I would love to know what everyones music taste looks like. A leda house spotify wrapped if you will. Ive been desperate to know if izzy knows about anything other than nirvana and johnny cash.

Okay, so my only issue here is that I am limited by my own narrow bands of interest in music, but I will do my best! (look I don't even have Spotify because I started with Pandora and refuse to move because I finally got my perfect blend of channels)

Izzy- He doesn't listen to music for pleasure a lot, but when he does, it's the music of his teen years. There's a lot of Flogging Molly and the Pogues happening as well as the Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Stone Temple Pilots.

Eddy- So Eddy's taste starts at the same place as Izzy's then branches off wildly. As you can imagine, Eddy will try anything once and listens to almost anything. They also retain everything, so they know the lyrics to everyone else's' favorites. For their act, they gravitate toward punky female rock stars, but they'll try anything once.

Stede- He loves a diva. Cher, Aretha Franklin, Janet Jackson. He will belt Celine and Whitney in the shower. He also loves classical music though more as a background, specifically string quartets. He listens to them a lot at night to the point that Eddy is now sometimes aroused by the sound of a violin by association.

Lucius- He and Stede agree on the great divas, but Lucius will also listen to modern pop. He has no issue with being a cliche that loves Madonna and Lady Gaga unabashedly.

Pete- Entirely by accident, Pete discovered steampunk rock a few years ago and now listens to it almost exclusively. He especially likes Dr. Steel and Steam Powered Giraffe.

Frenchie- As you might expect, he's got the widest range of taste. He listens to his favorites of course, ye olde murder ballads, but he listens to French pop, Afrobeat, country, jazz, and whatever else catches his fancy. He likes a good drag classic now and again, but he uses a lot of his broader taste in his act to really good effect.

John- Pretty much exclusively musicals and he won't apologize for that. His mother raised him on them and he's gone on learning about them. Sometimes he and Frenchie will catch shows or he'll go on his own, so he's always adding to the base. But he listens most frequently to Anything Goes. He just likes Cole Porter a lot.

Jim- Unapologetically and unironically loves cock rock. Guns N' Roses, Motley Crue and Whitesnake are their go-to workout music. They also listen to a lot of Spanish language metal. They rarely sing along with their music, but they will absolutely shout lyrics if Izzy is being a dick that day.

Oluwande: Motown, do-wop and all that good good fifties and sixties stuff. He likes folk a lot too. He also started listening because of his mom and is the only one of Dolly's children that genuinely enjoys all the same music. When he knows she's coming to the shows, he will pull out a Diana Ross number just for her.

Alma- Absolutely loves Florence and the Machine. Got her Mom and Eddy into it too. Enjoys Billie Eillish and Phoebe Bridgers. Her band is a reflection of everyone's taste, so she's familiar with pop punk, indie rock, and thanks to Felix (yes get your boo hisses out now), ska.

Roach- In his downtime listens exclusively to electronica and house music. He's so used to it then he can absolutely fall asleep with it blasting in his ears. Conversely, he also really enjoys ASMR and whale song.

Buttons- He's the one that got Roach into whale song. Also loves a Gregorian monk chanting track. And movie soundtracks.

Charlie- Says he likes all the same things his friends are currently into, but at home, listens to his Mom's old Indigo Girls cds a lot. He also loves Tori Amos and Alanis Morissette. Also Buttons got him into the Gregorian monk chanting so that's his study music now.

I collect a little bit of everything from several different publishers, old and new, but my most prized comics are my collection of Uncanny X-Men books from Giant Size issue #1 (1975) all the way through #280. I also collect rings and kawaii hair accessories.

6. Favorite drink? Ginger tea with honey and cinnamon. Amazing.

7. Favorite fanfic (if you’re comfortable)? Oh, soooo many, I can’t choose one. I guess I’ll just pick one of my favorites from each of my favorite ships to try and make it balanced? This list feels like such an injustice because this is nowhere near representative of all the authors and fics that I hold dear to my heart.

About Star Tee

Talented Nigerian singer Lucky Amos Arepade popularly known in music circles as Star Tee who hails from Amassoma LGA in Bayelsa State was born in the Oyo State capital of Ibadan, on February 11, 1990, to be precise.

Star Tee later moved with his parents to Lagos as they relocated to the inner suburbs of Ajegunle where he started honing his musical skills at the tender age of six.

The musician attended Arakan Barrack Primary School (first school leaving certificate) and later Randle Secondary School (second school leaving certificate) both located in Apapa, Lagos State.

His love for doing music saw him singing during family time, among his many friends and in various churches around Ajegunle as he mastered his musical craft to great effect.

While growing up, Star Tee was greatly influenced into doing what he loves the most (music) by Nigerian music legend and ‘African Queen’ crooner 2face Idibia and sensational singer Brymo.

His quest to master his craft and ultimately achieve success in his chosen career (music) saw him move to Ghana around early 2017 to carve a desired niche for himself on the music scene.

Since he moved to Ghana, Star Tee has waxed and officially released countless of songs 31 songs in total (13 songs for his EP with B.Brefo- titled: ‘Fail Forward’,15 songs for mixtape titled: ‘Gifted’ and three other singles ‘Soweto’, ‘Okey; and ‘Pray For Life’.

Star Tee who is not signed onto any record label at the moments has collaborated with no fewer than nine Ghanaian artistes including; Camidoh, Gallaxy, Lyrical Joe, Fameye, Dope Nation, ENE Yatt , B.Brefo Gabanki and G.West.

He is currently working on his EP (Extended Play) music project this year and he hopes to feature his compatriots Joeboy , Fireboy DML, AV and Burna Boy in the future.
