CDE Asia organizes mass tree plantation drive to facilitate its mission of ‘net zero carbon emission' by 2030
Tumblr media
04 November 2022
Sand Grains Foundation, our CSR wing organized a mass tree plantation drive on November 4, 2022, as part of CDE Asia’s efforts to extend the lifespan of natural resources by achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2030. The exercise was carried out in collaboration with Hari Mitti Foundation which aims to facilitate all-round urban and rural welfare under its wide umbrella of activities.
Established in 2021, Sand Grains Foundation has always fostered sensitivity towards our resources – natural and human. The Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that promotes environmental sustainability, self-reliance in the youth workforce, and equitable distribution of healthcare benefits among the poor and deprived. The plantation campaigns revolve around planting and nurturing trees thereby aiding the development and use of renewable energy resources.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Singh, Director of Sand Grains Foundation, said, “We believe that natural resources must be replenished organically and tree plantation is one of the most pertinent ways to offset carbon emissions, protect the environment and promote sustainable living.  We are delighted to see everyone come together and join us on this noble cause. ”
The entire team of CDE Asia Group along with their friends and family gathered at NKDA Verge 6 in Kolkata’s New Town area to plant trees and enhance the city’s green cover. Around 450 saplings of different plants and shrubs were planted. The plantation included trees like Neem, Peepal, Sal, Banyan, Betel Nut, Amla and Palm. The event was followed by an excellent lunch and a lucky draw. There were lots of giveaways that were handed out to the CDE Asia family. The gifts were distributed by Mr. Sanjay Singh. The last leg of the goodies ceremony was reserved for Mega giveaways for the event.
Manish Bhartia, Promoter & MD, CDE Asia, said, “It is overwhelming to see each and every member present with their family to support our journey to counter carbon emissions created by industrial activities. We regularly undertake carbon offset projects such as this which are sure to have a meaningful impact and act as positive change agents for communities and the environment. Today also happens to be the foundation day of Doctor Sand and we hope to organize similar events every year so that the entire CDE Asia fraternity can come together and contribute to building a sustainable tomorrow.”
We thank our team, collaborators, friends and well-wishers for the success of the event and hope to continue on our ambitious path with increased zeal and vigour.

Know the Quality of a Plot with these Vastu Shasta Rules
Tumblr media
Quality of a Plot is determined by the atmosphere and environment around the plot. The environment of the site plays a major role in the comforts levels experienced by the occupants. There are certain features, which can't be changed due to its characteristics where as some features can be modified so as to get maximum gains or minimize the bad effects " of vastu shastra .The basic features affecting plot quality are:
Plot Quality based on Position of Buildings
Neighborhood Proximity :  These are the man- made features in the vicinity of the plot you are considering like. The surrounding environment includes Houses, Temples, High rise or low rise Buildings, Industry, Water Bodies, Slaughter houses, Cemeteries, Flyovers, Subways, Hoardings, Electric sub stations etc. Position of Roads and their Placement : A plot is governed by the placement of roads, number of road around the plot or building, their levels and direction of slopes.
Plot Quality based on the angles of the Plot
The naturally occurring features have much more effects than the man-made features, as these natural features have been in existence over a long period and will continue to be there for times to come. The effects of these features, depend upon various contributory factors.
Quality of Plot based on Hills / Mountain / Mound
Tumblr media
Effects of Hills and Mountains on different sides of the plot In Metro cities these natural features may not be available but they have been taken over by high rise structures. The presence of such natural features in the South, South West, or West i.e. between 180 degrees to 270 degrees with reference to Magnetic North will enhance the Vastu of the plot and will give excellent results to the owner. The results will be adverse when such structure are in exact East, North East or North i.e. between 00 to 90 degrees from magnetic North.
Plot Quality based on Water Bodies
Tumblr media
Effect of Water Bodies on Different Sides of the Plot There are two types of water bodies, classified as stagnant bodies (like Lake, Sea, Ponds) and flowing water bodies (like river, canal, swimming pool). It has been observed that water from the ground slopes towards water bodies, as water  accumulates only in depressions. Staying near water bodies has its merits and demerits. Prosperity is promised near large water bodies but at the same time it can also cause mental depression, if the water bodies are just opposite to the bedroom or kitchen.
Plot Quality based on Running Flow of Water
It has been emphasized in Vastu that a river flowing from West to East and South to North brings prosperity whereas flow of sewerage drain in these conditions will not allow prosperity. The river flow in different directions has different effects on occupants.
Tumblr media
Plot Quality based on Trees
Trees play an important role in the Purification and control of the climate/environment on the mother earth. For the last two decades or so the people and the local Government agencies of the world are taking great interest and have becomes eco-conscious on account of abrupt changes in the climate. Government agencies are promoting plantation to restore the greenery for the betterment of environment. As per Vastu the trees/plantation on and around a building create an energy field giving both good and bad results depending upon the type and direction of plantation/trees. Before construction or buying a plot one must see the type of land, and what are the effects of various plantations on it. A plot/land having Mangoes, Papaya, Amla, Bel, Gauva, Plantation etc. is very good and will give good results. In metro cities such plantations may not be possible due to limited availability of land. However, in case of land or farm land trees will help a lot in getting positive results. A land where vegetation grows easily and remains green is good and considered auspicious in Vastu Shastra. A land where only thorn trees likes Bera dry, grass, bushes etc. grow, yields average results. There should not be trees like Peepal, Pakar, Bar-gad, Gular, near the Building as such trees are having big roots and with the passage of time they grow and cause damage to building. If under some exceptional case these trees are required than one should plant/have them in the mentioned directions.
Plot Quality based on Position of buildings
Man made features in close proximity to buildings or plots have their own effects. Normally a building is said to be in close proximity if the shadow of a nearby structure falls on the plot/building. It has been observed that such man-made structures may not have been there at the time of acquiring the plot but with passage of time they came up. The buildings in such proximity, affect the quality of life of the occupants of the building. It influences the mental and physical outlook of the occupants and the extent of it, depends upon the buildings in vicinity, immediate neighbors, and their life styles.
Tumblr media
A Neighborhood keeps on changing over which the occupants do not have any control. The changes may be in the form of construction of Flyovers, High rise structures, hoardings, etc. There are instances where the prosperity of an occupant totally changed on account of such man-made structures. As a general guide line, the shadow of such Structures should not fall on the occupants of plots / buildings between 0900 hours to 1500 hours. Temples / Mosques / Churches / Gurdwaras / Mutts/Dharamshalas should not be in the immediate neighborhood of the plot and the shadow of these structures should not fall on the plot. The plot should be at least 50 m away from such structures.
Quality of plot based on Poles and Trees
An electric pole like obstruction in front of the main entrance to a plot or main door causes problem to female members of the family and such a pole is there in the opposite side of the main entrance or close to the entrance, it will cause discord between the family. Trees will cause obstruction to growth of children.
Tumblr media
Quality of plot based on High rise Structures /Hoardings/Large Size Plots
The presence of small height structures or a small size plot between two high rise/large size plot/buildings does not have good results. These tall buildings cast their shadows on the small height structures. The tall/high rise buildings in South and West are ok, but, tall building in the North, East or North East are not desirable as they will cause mental and financial problems. The effects of hoardings, flyovers and subways are similar.
Quality of plot based on Slaughter Houses
A plot or building should not be near such structures, as they will cause obstruction to financial and physical prosperity. The presence of cemeteries with in the vicinity causes mental instability, disturbs peace of mind and gives ill health to the occupants. Garbage bins or Garbage collection type structures in the vicinity of a plot leads to losses in financial prosperity, ill health and wanted argument irrespective of the placement of such structures. VAASTU GUIDELINES FOR GATES
Gates are the entrance to the Site of the house. Here the guidelines for the gates are explained as per vaastu. Since, the guidelines explained here will enable us to be ready for the time-consuming task of construction of a House. As Vaastu is a science, there is logic and reasoning behind every guideline. As a Vaastu Expert, I have attempted to explain these guidelines rationally and scientifically, so that you can decide what you want to follow and what you don’t.
SPECIFICATION FOR MAIN GATE AS PER VAASTU
Every plot should have two gates for entry, a big gate for vehicles and a smaller gate for people.
The gates should not be at the extreme corners.
The entrance to the house should be in direct approach to the main gate.
Gates should be avoided in South-West.
Avoid big tree in front of the gate. Big trees produce chaya vedh, which is not good for the residents.
Avoid any ditch in front of the gate and even in the pathway leading to front gate.
No open well should be in front of the gate.
There should be no decaying or rundown or a house in bad condition in front of the gate.
There should be no pole of any sort in front of the gate.
EFFECTS OF GATE AS PER VAASTU
If the main gate is on the east and the north sides it leads to prosperity and fame.
If there are gates on the east and the west sides leads to happiness and riches.
If the gates are on the north and the west sides it bring only wealth. It has also been seen that they increase an individual`s interest in the spiritual aspects.
If there is a gate only in the east direction it leads to overall prosperity.
A northern gate symbolizes material comforts.
As per vaastu if the gate is in the west side then there will be a considerable profit in business. But this profit is short-term. After some years a lump will be experienced.
Remember to avoid the south-west gate completely. Under no conditions should the gate be built on this side. It leads to hazards and difficulties.
VAASTU GUIDELINES FOR GARDEN
If there is sufficient space left after construction of house, people generally prefer to have a small garden and few people even prefer a large garden. Here the guidelines for the garden plants are explained as per vaastu.
SUITABLE TREES AS PER VAASTU
Some of the auspicious trees according to Vastu, that are good for the inmates are described below along with their usefulness:
PEEPAL TREE : It has been proven that the peepal tree produces oxygen in large amounts by the leaves of this tree and it is found in high concentration under the branches, probably due to the thick foliage. Hence it is considered very healthy to have this tree in back yard of the house in west direction.
NEEM TREE : This tree has great medicinal value. Its twigs are used to brush teeth and neem oil is used in physiotherapy.
MANGO TREE : Most of the parts of the mango tree have medicinal value. It’s leaves are used as a pesticide, and its twigs are used for brushing teeth. The wood and stick of mango tree is used for HAWAN in India. To have a fruit tree in garden indicated prosperity.
BANANA TREE : The tender leaves of the banana tree are used for decorating doors, pandals etc, during functions and festivals. They are used because they are considered as symbols of prosperity and wealth. This tree has medicinal use. This tree has a sacred value and is considered auspicious in gardens.
SUITABLE DIRECTION FOR TREES
Small shrubs should be planted on the East or North sides of the garden, leaving the North-East direction open and free.
Tall trees should be planted in the west, south or south-west part of the garden or plot. They should not be too close to the building. And their shadow should not fall on the building during 9 am to 3 pm.
Large trees such as Peepal etc should not be too close to the house as their roots can damage the foundation of the house. Their shadow should not fall on the main building during 9 am to 3 pm.
The useful tree that can be planted in a house garden are coconut, neem, betel, sandalwood, lemon, pineapple, bilva, almond, jackfruit, pomegranate, mango, amla, and kaitha.
The trees that attract insects, worms, honey bees, bumble bee, owls, serpents should be avoided in the house garden. They bring bad luck.
SUITABLE PLANTS AS PER VAASTU
HOLY PLANTS : Tulsi also known as holy Basil and it is always good to have a Tulasi in the house or the garden. Tulasi should be located on the North, North-East, or East sides of the house, or in front of the house.
FLOWER PLANTS : In general, plants with sweet smelling flowers like jasmine, red lotus, blue lotus etc are good in the house compound as they give out a pleasant perfume, and can also be used in daily worship. Flowers like the Jasmine are stringed together and used as a decoration of the mandir.
THORNY PLANTS : The plants that have thorns should not be planted in the garden. Cactus should not be planted at all. Thorny plants have a negative energy. If there any thorny plan in the garden it should be removed.
CREEPERS : The compound wall or the house wall should not be used as support for these plants. Creepers should only be grown in a garden, and they should have their own independent supports. A money plant can be grown within the house.
GARDEN COMPONENTS AS PER VAASTU
FLOWER POTS – The pots of flower should not be kept on the compound wall as it increases the height of the wall. Specially the wall of North, East or North-East. They should be placed on the ground in these directions, but they should not be taller than 3 feet and the water should not get logged under them.
LAWNS :  In the garden the Lawns should be in the East or the North, where a swing with north-south axis can be placed.
WATER BODIES : A small water-fall can be constructed in the East or the North leaving the North-East corner of the garden. If there is a swimming pool in the garden, it should be in the North or North-East direction. A small pond, whose water is regularly changed, can be constructed in north. A fish pond can be had in the west part of the garden.
BENCHES – Benches are useful in big gardens and can be placed in the open space in the East and the North direction so that people sitting in these directions face either east or west.
PATHWAYS : The pathways should be curvey and should not be straight.
OTHER USEFUL TIPS FOR GARDEN
As a general rule, gardens in homes or factories should always be in the North or West and within the confines of the compound.  Here are few simpler vaastu suggestions for the garden within the house limits:
A Basil plant is a very positive influence within the limits of a house.
Plants of Palm, Paraspeepal, Pakar, Sirish, Neem and Bilva, if planted in proper direction, that is the North or the West, bring favourable results.
Bilva, Madhuka and Peepal are very favourable on the West of the house limit.
Goolar is good towards the South of the house compound.
Kanakchampa,in the North brings virtues and wealth.
Coconut and Banana plants within house limits are very good for mental peace and health.
A water pond in a favourable direction, with Lotus, brings fortunes.
The entertaining unit for the children is recommended towards the North-West of the garden.
As far as possible plantation should be avoided in the South, South-West, North-West corners should be plant free.
Gardens in the South-East and South-West cause tensions. In particular, large or tall plants should never be planted towards the East or North.
No large plant should be planted exactly in the centre of a site.
Thorny succulent plants must not be grown within the house limits. Cacti are considered very dangerous and harmful for a residential unit. They purport to bring tensions and create fractious relationships.
The Ber plant should not be cultivated within the house limits. It increases enemity.
Plants of Bamboo, should never be grown within the house limits in the ground.
A swimming pool in the centre, towards the South, South-East or South-West and even the North-West create undue events. It brings negativity in the health of the residents.
A swimming pool is good in the East, North or even in the West.
The fountains or water ponds within a house limit should not be built in the centre and should follow the same principles as the placement of swimming pools. Placed wrongly, they cause problems with respect to mental peace and health.
Fountains or ponds are very good towards the North-East. This is also applicable to artificial springs.
Huge, heavy statues or other exhibits are best towards the West, south or South-West.
