Question for the cheja out there

I’m curious, does being chej bari “mean” anything in your family, like in terms of gender/workload expectations? Like I was a real tomboy growing up and got away with not doing as many chores as my female cousins, and it was always justified with “well, you’re chej bari,” like you get a pass to be a little more androgynous if you’re the oldest, because you’re also responsible for keeping all the younger spawn in line. I kind of assumed this was standard practice, but my father is also not above inventing traditions out of whole cloth to justify his parenting choices, so I could be wrong. 

Anyone have similar experiences? Is this a general Kalderash thing or just AmKal or was Babo making up rules as he went along again?
