bestie. BESTIE. Charlie buddy chum pal amigo
Crutchie headcanons please *slides a plate of warm cookies across table* please.
((Oh and also I beg thee for help I don’t know which character todo next for the MLP au))
FALLS DOWN THE STAIRS. MY TIME HAS COME
These are very scatter-brained and I jump around to different topics a lot I apologize </3
He's a cat person but he also loves dogs!! To be fair he likes All animals
He's like a Disney princess yk animals just follow him around and he just goes along with it
He has a pet cat named Charlie Jr that he found in an alley and it didn't have a collar or anything and it was Small and Cold so obviously he had to take it home
AND THEN HE NOTICES IT'S MISSING A LEG AND HE'S JUST "!!!!!! HE'S LIKE ME" . SO OBVIOUSLY HE HAD TO TAKE IT HOME!!!!!!!!
So yeah he sneaks a cat into the lodge which doesn't really go over well but with enough begging and mild guilt tripping he gets to keep it <3
He's actually a very chill lil guy. Just sleeps all the time n sits by the windows in the sun . Baby boy
But he meows REALLY loud every time Crutchie has to leave in the mornings so on MULTIPLE occasions Crutchie has skipped a day of selling against his better judgement to stay back at the lodge w Charlie Jr
He has a comfort plushie named Nutmeg ! She's just like this super simple lil teddy bear that his mom gave to him before she uhh Died. And now it's very special to him and he takes her absolutely Everywhere
I think sometimes Buttons will make lil clothes for her and give em to Crutchie on his birthday or something. I just think it'd be cute ok <333333
Crutchie wears his hat backwards because Jack used to do that when they first met
And Crutchie being the dumb 8 year old he was looked up to Jack SO incredibly much and started doing the same thing. And he just never really Stopped because he still thinks it's really cool
He wears like 5 fucking shirts or whateva because he's TRANS, baby!!!!
Obviously there isn't really a safe way to bind in 1899 and given his already Not The Strongest immune system he opts to just layer up a ton to hide his chest!
He gets super overheated in the summer but it's ok because Gender Euphoria 👍 (that's a joke please take care of yourselves Mwah)
Along wITH THAT I think initially he didn't Know he was trans and just pretended to be a boy to hide his identity after he runs away from home (abusive dad and such)
And so he switches his name n pronouns and cuts his hair and dresses like a boy and then he's just "haha wait a minute"
And Jack had told him about being trans before because! Jack! Is also trans! And then Crutchie's just "OHHHHHHH SO I'M NOT A GIRL IN THE FIRST PLACE haha that's silly!"
I think he's nonbinary actually! Nonbinary boy specifically (we're nb boy and nb girl solidarity)
And I think he uses he/they pronouns but if neopronouns were mainstream in 1899 he'd probably hoard so many of them. Like ohmygod
IF XENOGENDERS WERE A THING IN 1899 AS WELL I THINK HE'D GO BATSHIT OVER THEM /POS
Anyway enough of my xenogender neoprn user Crutchie nonsense
He's autistic because I said so! But he's definitely "gifted student" autistic if you know what I mean (yes I am once again projecting)
He had a few years of education when he was younger, before his mom got sick and they couldn't really Afford school anymore, so he knows how to read and write and stuff and he Excelled at it
He never really got to the point of Gifted Student Burnout because he only had a few years in school but! He definitely felt the Overwhelming Expectations (that .. also goes along with the abusive dad and such :"))
ANYWAY I think him and Jack are adhd/autistic solidarity and I just KNOW they stim together nonstop. Because are you REALLY besties if you don't stim together /lhj
Along with the topic of nd stuff! He has tics !
Most of his tics are motor tics because of Anxiety but he has a few vocal tics sometimes
(Yes I'm projecting again Help Me)
OH ALSO NOW THAT I BROUGHT UP ANXIETY,, HE IS SO MENTALLY ILL I won't go into detail about that even though I would LOVE to but basic rundown is.
He's Very mentally ill and depressed and he thinks everyone hates him and everyone's gonna abandon him but he just . Pretends he's fine because he doesn't wanna be a burden or anything HELP
He feels like he's already enough of a burden because of his disability and General Insecurity and he doesn't want to worry anyone more with his problems yk.
(Yes this is mostly projection as well! I really need a fucking therapist! /lh)
OH OH he's queerplatonic and in a qpr with Jack! I just think it's neat 👉👈
He had those Feelings for Jack for the longest time but he never said anything because he was just like
"WHY DO I FEEL LIKE THIS I wanna kiss him and cuddle him and hold his hand but it's not like.. no I don't want him to be my boyfriend but not just my friend either like I wouldn't wanna marry him but I want him to look at me like he looks at those other girls so bad but but it's not that I want him to crush on me like that it's just-"
LIKE. HE'S SO CONFUSED. ALL THE TIME
And I think one time they're on the rooftop at like idk 2 am and they're both sleep deprived and Crutchie just brings it up offhand and Jack's just like "lol same"
They've been qpps ever since. Yeah.
OK SORRY THATS A BAD CUTOFF BUT I HAVE SAID TOO MANY WORDS. Thank u for letting me infodump though this was so fun actually omg /gen
#THIS IS A FUCKING ESSAY WHAT THE HELL WHY AM I TALKING SO MUCH#asks#mostauspiciousmanner#long post#headcanons

A Timely Spoken Word
The words of a good friend have a sort of power. When offered in timely moments, words can operate as a propellent to dreams and aspirations. At times a friend offers these words with intent while at other times they speak these words without fully understanding the profound effect they will have.
The power of words play an important part in the story of The Jack.
Shortly after coming back home to California from Wyoming, we were invited to attend a bbq at a friend’s house in Point Loma. Of course our friends wanted to hear all about our trip and what we thought of Wyoming. At the time we hadn’t really told anyone that we were actually considering making a move to Wyoming. It just seemed like something that we weren’t ready to speak out lout yet, as though speaking it would make it more real. During dinner somehow the topic of the small forlorn motel property in Pinedale came up in conversation and Jordan, one of our dear friends, made a comment about the process of renovating a motel and an instagram account that we needed to follow of another couple that was doing the same thing in Colorado. As it turns out those were the words that would really change everything. After the party I went home and did a quick search for the motel that Jordan had talked about, the Amigo in Salida, Colorado and this was the moment that The Amigo Motor Lodge came into our lives.
Nestled in the sleepy mountain town of Salida, Colorado, the Amigo is owned and operated by a couple who had similar dreams of our own. They fell in love with the small town charm and discovered a little motel that needed some major TLC. A quick search of The Amigo will bring up raving reviews and beautiful photos of the renovated motel property. The owners have done an amazing job of marketing the motel to DINKs (double income no kids) and Millennials. The rooms are clean and simple yet trendy and modern, and it is clear that they have been over the top intentional with every aspect of the property. It really is an inspiring place. (Check it out at www.stayamigo.com)
I reached out to the owner, exchanged a few emails and then set up a time to actually drive out to Colorado and stay a night on the property. At this point in the journey we were getting more serious about the Wagon Wheel property and I decided to piggy back the trip to The Amigo on to another trip to Pinedale to meet with a realtor.
Talking with the owner of The Amigo inspired me. Here was a guy who had never owned a motel before and had resurrected a property from its previous dilapidated state into something that was not only beautiful but also profitable. I began to gain confidence and clarity that we could do the same thing. I mean why not?
In October of 2020 I drove over to Colorado and stayed a night at The Amigo and soaked in its inspiration. I studied every nook and cranny of the property, took tons of notes and photos, and sat down to chat with the owner. He graciously walked me through the process of resurrecting the property and the realities of the day to day grind of being a hotelier. I gained much clarity and left feeling inspired and confident that we needed to make a push to acquire the Wagon Wheel.
I had hundreds of miles to drive that week between California, Colorado and Wyoming. I love driving as it provides me with the time to sit, think and pray about things. Many times during that trip I caught myself thinking about how crazy this all was. A few weeks earlier I had never heard of Pinedale, The Wagon Wheel or The Amigo. This was a shotgun dream that was seemingly being thrust upon me by a Higher Power. We were quickly entering the territory of no return, the territory where we had to pursue this thing or risk forever asking the question of “what if.”
So I drove and thought often about the words my friend had spoken and the path it was leading us down.

Healers - Part 1.0 (The Chase)
I’m not a writer, but this came to me in a dream. I’ve transcribed it to the best of my ability. There are 6 or 7 parts so far.
An eyeful of dreams rotated from forefront to behind, though still at the surface of my mind. A thick blur blanketed the morning as I struggled to awaken. This would be the filter of the day. A hazy washout glazing my vision, graying out clarity between what is and what isn’t. A part of me has stayed behind, refusing to engage in the physical world and the reaction to it by my senses. I pause now, unsure if I have just awakened or haven’t slept at all. Or if I’m still asleep.
The over-sized carport opens up into a covered breezeway to the lodge. The floor is covered in large square tiles made of limestone and separated by wooden planks in a grid pattern. The walls are made from cedar planks, generous windows on the sides. Looking behind me, there is no wall. An opening, three cars wide to allow anything to come or go.
There is no driveway, just a long road that goes nowhere. Except here. Mammoth sequoias line the road. Only ferns and broad leafed foliage can collect enough sun to survive underneath them.
It seems we’re running. I’m driving fast and paranoid from the danger presumably pursuing us from the bullfight.
***
Ernesto’s glory days were behind him, that’s for sure. The formerly great matador still carried himself with pomp and swagger. His black and silver sequined outfit demanded it, and he was more than eager to deliver on it. The wall had been removed from the ring today. I sat in the front row with Lacy. She looked pretty and well kept as always and was dressed in a nice pair of navy shorts, a preppy white blouse, and some expensive sandals. She looked older than I remembered. And somehow friendlier. The crowd was sparse, as is usually the case for a matinee. Ernesto strutted over to me before the show was to begin and wedged himself between Lacy and me. He was looking at me and then whispered into my ear. Inappropriately close and almost intimate, like a lover might. His breath was rancid and I was glad when he stood up and stepped away. He laughed loud enough for everyone to hear, making a show of the fact that he thought he had just told me something of great amusement. “He is so disgusting,” Lacy whispered.
“Yea, you’re not the one who had to smell his breath.”
I felt a pinch on my ear. “Amigo.” Long pause. “Show some respect,” came the slow Spanish accented voice from behind me. “Who the fuck are you, huh? HUH?”
Lacy’s eyes were bigger than normal which is really saying a lot, as her eyes always were big and beautiful. One of about a hundred reasons that I was secretly in love with her. I was more annoyed than afraid. I pulled my head slowly away to release the fingers that held me. I turned and looked. There were three men, all of them with dreadful stares. The man directly behind me was dirty and unkept with dark hair draped loosely over his eyes, the other two with lighter hair, thinner and taller, and less Spanish looking then their counterpart. They carried solemn, serious faces and looked hard into me in a way that I could almost feel something actual and physical penetrating my body.
I looked them down, stood and took Lacy’s hand. “C’mon.”
We exited slowly up the steps. The stares felt like burns in my back. When we reached the concession area there was a big group of men dressed in old football uniforms with leather helmets. The place was open and uncovered, but presumably fenced in somewhere beyond my view. I realized that I didn’t remember coming in. A group of several dozen people were chanting “Hold that line” and the chants grew louder as their number grew. Today was the day the coach would be making his final cuts. There were wooden folding chairs in a line, apparently one designated for each player. I was asked to light them all on fire at the bottoms of the legs “To the best of your ability, don’t spare a single one,” the coach said to me. I nodded my head and did as he asked. It took only about a minute for all the chairs to become completely engulfed in orange fire, as the wood was porous and very flammable. Lacy tugged at my arm indicating it was time to go. Someone wanted us out of there. I was oblivious, but she knew. I turned and saw a posse forming at the portal to the ring. The three men were yelling to each other and to the others that had gathered, everyone’s heads careening around hastily trying to spot us.
“Whoa, wait a minute. We’re not leaving. I haven’t done anything and I’m damn sure not in the mood for running away.”
“A, there might be more happening than you know here,” she said in a curt, cautious tone. “More than you might recollect or understand.”
I let a nervous “ha” slip from my mouth. But settling down on me was a familiar realization, the one you get when you’ve been found out. I’ve had it more often than I’m proud to admit. The hair on my neck stood stiff like hackles, they were coming for me.
We walked briskly, staying roughly on a line to an exit that kept the fire between us and the portal, hoping that it would block their view. When we got out the door Lacy ran top speed to the car, which was an amusing sight for my normally proper and calm friend.
We had left the top down on the old, white Carerra and both of us leaped over our doors into the car. I thought us inconspicuous but for the loud engine, and didn’t see anyone following from behind. To the right was a covered walkway separating two parking lots, which I presumed was used during the rains. I had heard people talk about the sudden storms and floods here, but it was always arid and dusty whenever I had visited.
As we approached the end of the walkway, a red Bronco pulled out from behind it and turned to face us. I braked and saw the dark haired guy from the arena behind the wheel, one of his sandy haired companions in the passenger seat. We made eye contact and I heard his motor rev. At the same time, instinctively, I threw the car into reverse and flew backward a few hundred feet and turned hard into an perpendicular aisle, almost losing control. There was not enough time to make an attempt at going forward, as the Bronco was nearly on our front bumper. I kept flooring it in reverse, the engine whining hard and made another fierce turn at the next aisle. In just a split second I was able to throw it into first and spin out forward, the Bronco just missing slamming into the side of us as it spun around the turn close behind. I heard a crashing sound and in my rear view mirror saw that they had clipped a couple parked cars making their turn. I focused, gripping the wheel with clenched hands, made a few quick rights and lefts, darting in and out of rows of cars. With Lacy bouncing and swaying in her adjacent bucket seat, we made it to the exit and cut hard right onto the main road, spinning wheels as I threw it into second gear.
I floored it and quickly put some distance between us and our pursuers. But just ahead there was some traffic coming up and cars stacked about five deep in front of a red light. There was no oncoming traffic, so I swerved into the oncoming lane and looked frantically both ways and then darted left at the traffic signal through the red light just between two cars. I almost hit the one that I squeezed in front of and the driver laid on the horn. I felt sweat on my chest and looked back to see the Bronco stopped at the light, but forcing its way through, lots of cars stopping and starting, all of them honking at them.
I floored the Carerra again and quickly got it up to about 90, which was pretty fast for a commercial area. Thankfully there were not many cars around. Lacy held her hands in tight fists raised just above her thighs and I could see that she was shaking. I thought of saying something light hearted, but didn’t. The exit ramp to the freeway was just ahead and a swerved around the car in my adjacent lane and took it. I had put maybe a quarter mile of space ahead of the Bronco and pushed the car faster. On the freeway I got up to 130 without much trouble. Within five minutes I couldn’t see them at all.
“Any one of these exits can get us to the woods,” Lacy said flatly. We were headed north, desert all around except to the west, where there were tree lines and hills in the distance. I took the next off ramp and left under the bridge onto a two lane road. The road was dead straight, presumably a straight shot into the trees. I drove fast, but not at an unreasonable pace, the sun dropping in front of us just left of center.
At the entrance through the line of trees, the forest swallowed us immediately. The road seemed to turn old, there were no signs, no lines on the cracking pavement. The Carerra was reasonably equipped to handle the narrow and winding roads through this mature forest. I should have been nervous, but I felt a calm certainty in my body and soon forgot about our pursuers. The top was down on this warm, comfortable day but I looked up to see almost no sky at all. Just late afternoon light flickering through the giant trees. A thought passed my mind that there are mini ecosystems high up in those branches. Evolved species that live hundreds of feet up in the air, never to touch solid ground. Rodents and bugs and other plants that grow out of the over sized branches. My next thought was how I would be able to navigate without being able to see the stars tonight. This is how the mind of a runaway operates. Curious, creative at times, and always looking for exit signs.
“Left ahead,” she said, breaking my thoughts. I nodded and followed her directions. These were her woods, not mine.
“Protectors, Athan. They’ve watched your every step. They guard and defend without care as to who is right or wrong. I know you know this, but you’re acting like you don’t. You have to be careful. You’ve got to keep your distance no matter how tempted you are.”
I sighed as a flood of memories rose like flood waters in me. Unwanted, invasive, inescapable memories. “God dammit.” I felt betrayed. I wanted to fight, to kill. But the numbers were stacked against me, not to mention otherworldly forces they wield. A band of brothers designed to protect the deity I left behind. I had been allowed in, ushered in, actually. Allowed to be loved and to love back. It was real, all of it real, and then somehow it went horrendously wrong. There were a thousand ways to blame myself, and yet another thousand to blame. Looking back, I could see now that everywhere there was a guardian. In the woods a vulture and black wolf, in the castle a host of magicians and dragons. All kinds of defense mechanisms, alter beings designed to force me into a mold or to force me out. I left willingly without a word. Maybe that was not acceptable.

4 fun shopping finds for Spring
4 fun shopping finds for Spring
Colorado is still overproducing snow, which has me dreaming of Spring Break–still a couple weeks away. We just booked our second stay at Amigo Motor Lodge (heart eyes) as a reward for all the dissertation/thesis writing happening in our house (my boyfriend is finishing his MA this year, too!), and this has me daydreaming about warmer weather clothing. Here’s what’s on my wishlist now.

Camino a Eurodisney Paris

Y a Ratatouille…

Off-Season Adventures for Aspen Locals // Salida, Colorado
With the weather changing, businesses turning over the closed sign (for now), and visitor season coming to a slow crawl in town, now is the perfect time to be a tourist yourself. Several great weekend options exist within a few hours of the Roaring Fork Valley, meaning you don’t have to go far or even buy a plane ride to get out of dodge. We’ve scouted out some easy-going local gems right here in Colorado, starting with Salida.
Two hours away via Independence Pass, Salida is a mountain town of just over 5,000 residents nestled along the Arkansas River. Home to Monarch Mountain and with a charming downtown corridor, this small town is located in the heart of the state. Adventure is happening here, with a full roster of activities all four seasons and more than a dozen 14ers to take your breath away.
Image via Amigo Motor Lodge
STAY // Owners Philip and Kaitlyn renovated a 50’s motel into the Amigo Motor Lodge in 2016. Simple, clean, comfortable, and pet-friendly this is not a 5-star resort, but it is a gem in the town that calls itself the gem of Colorado. The property has a tepee and a hot tub, and you can even sleep in an Airstream for the night! Bonus: The owners are committed to conservation and giving back to the local community.
PLAY // Head to the whitewater park in town and hop on a stand-up paddleboard (you might just spot a SUP from local company Badfish), get on your bike for a ride, or lace up your hiking shoes for one of the many 14ers near town. Easier hikes abound if you’re traveling with younger ones and your dogs can run off-leash at Loyal Duke’s Dog Park. Soak away your day at the largest indoor hot springs in the country.
EAT and DRINK // It should come as no surprise that an active town has a happening food scene. Options abound, from Patio Pancake Place, The Firefly Restaurant, and Little Red Hen Bakery for breakfast, to Sweetie’s Sandwich Shop, Mo Burrito, and Gathering Grounds for lunch. Dinner options include pizza (with gluten-free options) from Moonlight Pizza & Brew Pub, tapas and gastro-pub fare at American bistro The Fritz, and steak and seafood at Currents. Fancy a beer? That’s not a problem in Salida. Soulcraft has 16 taps on hand and The 146 Taphouse has 40 self-serve beer and wine taps.
SHOP // Owner and artist Lindsay Sutton-Stephens operates Sutty’s Downtown Record and Arts, where a collection of classic vinyl meets modern, colorful artwork. The Beekeeper’s Honey Boutique sells local honey that has been foraged from the mountain fields and meadows. And be sure to pop into Drift & Amble, a locally-owned screen-printing shop that sells original designs on shirts, hats, and more.
SEE // Fall foliage typically peaks from mid-September to early October. Plan your trip around leaf-peeping season to ensure the sights in town, and en route, are stunning. Check out the calendar of events at local event center Steamplant or see what is playing at the Comanche Drive-in Theater, a quick 30-minute drive from town.
________________________________________________________
Safe travels. Enjoy Salida. And tell them Scout Aspen sent you! live. love. travel. local.

Framboise by @uneannee. One brewery that really stuck to my palette at GABF was Une Année and I was lucky enough to grab this bottle locally. An American Wild Ale with Raspberries that’s super tart and refreshing! It’s okay to enjoy some sours during #stoutseason. anything about inca path peru
Most variations with the Chaski Route incorporate a end within the impressive waterfall named Perolniyoc and its close by ruins. The trail ends at Ollantaytambo, wherever trekkers can pay a visit to Among the most famed sets of Inca ruins ahead of hopping the coach to Machu Picchu. The rainforest of our region is One of the more exuberant and effectively maintain regions. Peru’s Amazon has Substantially a lot more than you inca trail machupicchu could consider. the primary Inca areas you can come across are These of Chachabamba Inca advanced, a little archaeological intricate believed to get the moment been a guard house to Machu Picchu. following all around two.5 hours of strolling, we get there in Quellomayo village, in which we can have lunch and have a rest in hammocks to organize For the remainder of the vacation. once the crack we go on trekking for approximately 3 hours, crossing farms, waterfalls and rivers (including just one we cross in a very cable motor vehicle!). At all over four pm we arrive at Cocalmayo - much better called the new springs of Santa Teresa, where we can have the opportunity to take a enjoyable, heat bathtub. Cocalmayo gives many comforting very hot springs, Each and every with its own temperature. The Inca Trail follows the remaining lender on the river up for the village of Wayllabamba at 9840 toes higher than sea stage (3000 masl) where you will delight in meal and camp to the night time. :: Buenas noches amigos! deciding upon your site will empower us to pick certain information towards your region. Please pick one of The 2 solutions under: wish to take the adventurous path to considered one of the preferred touristic locations? Salkantay is each individual backpackers’ fantasy. If you choose to forgo the standard routes and choose alternatively the alternative routes, Salkantay... I understand there are actually numerous routes to Machu Pichu, so I am searching for proposed routes that keep away from exposure. I might prefer to hike it in 4 times, more or less dependant upon route solutions. In Abra Malaga we begin the initial Component of our journey – the biking tour! we offer all essential equipment for your trip - helmet, vest, knee pads & premium quality bikes essential for that descent. when you are kitted up, we journey With all the bikes somewhere around 2 and also a 50 percent hours descending with the lower jungle to the city of Huamanmarca . On just how We are going to go through canyons, ghost towns, orchards, and streams given that the local weather improvements from snow-capped mountains to the warm, humid jungle, full of fruit trees and assorted fauna and flora. immediately after your working day in Machu Picchu citadel, you might go ahead and take bus back right down to Aguas Calientes city to gather your possessions from the lodge and return to town of ollantaytambo by teach, where you'll be satisfied for your transfer on your lodge in Cusco. So if you don't have A great deal time to invest on or if you would like stroll a lot less you'll be able to normally pick this two times trail. But don't forget continue to you will need the trail allow beforehand to obtain a Place for this shorter trail. 5 days Salkantay trail (Mollepata - Salkantay - Wayllabamba - Machu Picchu) is also a great different. https://carneybyskov19.bloglove.cc/2018/08/02/info-about-inca-trail-peru-discovered/ Some tour operators offer this trail, and this a single offers much more range in landscape. hike the inca trail This trail is likewise limited by the government regulation. They’ll want some cash for their hassle, certainly. Pack lots of small costs and alter. And avoid wasting with the hostel at Winay Wayna: It sells bottled beer but refuses notes bigger than twenty nuevo soles (about $7). The ruins have been inca trail machupicchu typically coated with vegetation except for the cleared agricultural terraces and clearings used by the farmers as vegetable gardens. due to vegetation Bingham was not able to observe the total extent of the site. best time to do the inca trail normal: we think about the normal service to all those preferring to go along with other people and don't head to stay in a very standard hotel in place of a fancy lodge; we do take into consideration also the price range of travelers. be sure to request the listing of motels accommodation inca trail machupicchu that we use for this type of practical experience.

Crítica: Riverdale 2x17 The Noose Tightens
