Hello! @tsams-au-confessions here! I'm doing an experiment where I barge into peoples inboxes and ask them about AUs they like! It's your turn! What AUs in any fandom do you like :]
Nwushdjdn oh my god there are so many I love
This list will be long and there will be explosions with me going insane on every one
🔞 = pretty self explanatory, the two that have these have smut, so-
📕 = they have full on fics (that I have read)!
🔞📕 The Highly Unconventional au/story by @alexandraisyes and @turbotasthick (I think?? I'm pretty sure chat-) was kind of my first introduction to tsams shipping aus, so it will always hold a special place in my heart. I couldn't stand it while I read it (it was just so dark it made me sick, its fucking phenomenal writing), but I kept reading it cause it sucked me in. Now I physically can't reread most of the first book lmao, but I love to reread small parts, as well as rereading whats out of the second. I love dad Kc and mom Solar Flare!! And just Sun's relationship with everyone. (I also have a new appreciation for angst, though its still hard for me to read)
I love @sunny-inajar's ATWR au! I'm not usually a fan of Solruin, but God Sommet is so cute I can't even- and I love Eclipse, and Sun is so pretty!!! God i could gush about that au so hard dude- RV is so pretty too idc-
📕 Snjsnhnrfi @kuuchaos's Backstage au is fucking great. I'm going to read the new chapter of Ameliorate as soon as I'm done making this list- Nexus is adorable, Solar and Eclipse are great, I'm really interested to see whats going on with Dark Sun, and nwuensiabshdjd FUCKING NUMBUS DUDE??? Also I can't wait to see more of Jack- god I love all of them im insane
🔞📕 Oh, and of course the @emhm au because oh my god. This au made me realize I relate to Eclipse a lot and I dont like that realization but its okay chat. I love Sun, I want to fight Lunar, and beussusbshs I'm sorry I love Old Moon dude, he's now little guy??? I fucking adore that. And I love the little Sun group chat, nsisnsjs all the different Sun's are so great. And God i just want to cradle Nisshoku and hold him so close the poor little guy. And like I said I related to Eclipse so I love and hate him, but I dont relate to him just enough to think he doesn't deserve anything bad happening to him. I love him dude shwnwusnd I do cringe whenever he's telling people to have sex or talking about when he's had sex with Sun, but that doesn't make me love him any less (well maybe it does but its just a littllee less lmao)
I do really like @ayyy-imma-ninja's fairy au. I need to take the time to learn more about it though- like read all the comics and stuff! Its a really good au
I also do really enjoy the @villainoustrioau. Its a lot of fun to see and I really like seeing all the Eclipse's being evil together!!
And of course, last but not least, the Confessionverse!!!! Because of course, I'm obsessed. I have so much fun getting to talk to J about Sol and Pan, and I love the roommates in general! It's a lot of fun, and the au is just great. Its a very fun and creative way to do an au! (Creativity i don't really partake in since I'm more focused on being a confession blog than an rp blog!)
And uhhh- yeah I think that's it!!!
#not a confession#(Im sorry if you guys didn't want to be tagged#I just thought I probaly should-)#au confession#My confession#Cw suggestive#Emhm eclipse its your fault I have to put that tag lmao

Warnings: smut w/o plot, p in v, cunningulus, rather soft Dabi Synopsis: Dabi was fervently yearning to partake in another round of euphoria with you Requested by: anonymous
MASTERLIST
A solitary sunbeam bestowed its gentle radiance upon the finely sculpted countenance of Dabi. He contorted his visage, narrowing his eyes and gradually blinking a few times, stirred from slumber by the luminous glow. With a sigh escaping his lips, he endeavored to shield himself from the solar rays by placing an arm over his face. However, the hour had long surpassed dawn's arrival, rendering him unable to succumb to sleep once more. Instead, he found solace in the rhythmic cadence of your tranquil breaths.
Dabi's countenance slowly adorned itself with a smile as he reminisced upon the passionate intimacy you both shared the previous night. It had been a Friday evening, and the LOV team had ventured to partake in libations at the bar in their mansion. They all needed some distractions after yet another difficult week.
Observing the gracefulness with which you engaged in mirthful conversation with Toga at the booth, and subsequently coaxing Twice onto the dance floor with his endearingly awkward fist pumps and uncertain dance moves, Dabi found himself utterly captivated by your every gesture. How fortuitous was he to have encountered a woman of such beguiling charm, genuine sweetness, and innate ability to put anyone at ease? Since you joined the League, Dabi was unable to divert his gaze or restrain his touch from you. Your irresistible allure captivated him, and he unexpectedly developed a deep affection for both your radiant persona and your lively demeanor.
The comfort of being nestled in bed with you filled Dabi's heart with contentment.
That profound affection within him was kindled once you both departed from the bustling bar, and as soon as you both crossed the threshold of Dabi's room, he fervently disrobed your undergarments, firmly grasped your already moistened pussy, and passionately claimed your lips as his own.
In the annals of time, the subsequent events unfolded as an indelible legacy.
Presently, he beheld your unadorned physique, ensconced in velvety coverings. The satin texture of your exposed shoulder allured him, accompanied by the emergence of a hickey and faint contusions adorning your neck and shoulders. He surmised that additional bruises might trace their mark upon your hips, a testament to the fervor with which he engaged you the previous night.
Regret tinged his expression; he acknowledged that he had been overly rough in his actions. To ameliorate the situation, Dabi leaned closer, his form enmeshing with yours, commencing a tender array of butterfly kisses and delicate caresses upon the bruised regions.
"Mmm...?" You vocalized, inquisitive, as Dabi's gentle ministrations roused you from the depths of slumber, drawing you into wakefulness.
"Good morning, babe," he murmured, his lips still bestowing soft affection upon your shoulder.
"Morning," you replied, your voice laden with drowsiness. "What time is it?" you queried, stifling a yawn.
"It is 7:00 AM," Dabi responded.
"Ah, let us indulge in even more repose, then. This is a rare luxury," you remarked, rolling over to face him. Both of you typically arose at 8:00 AM on weekdays for work, making this leisurely awakening a true indulgence.
"Indeed, Y/N," Dabi chuckled, his countenance now tinged with a touch of concern. "I trust I did not exert excessive force upon you during our encounter last night?"
"Why do you harbor such thoughts?" You responded, elevating yourself onto one elbow.
"Well..." Dabi's fingertips grazed gently across your contusions.
You tilted your head to glimpse downward, observing the interplay of light purple and green splotches adorning your skin. "Ah, mere bruises. They shall mend," you offered reassuringly. "Moreover, last night's tryst happened to be one of the most ardently passionate experiences we have shared thus far, handsome!"
"Truly?" Dabi smirked, arching an eyebrow. "Nevertheless, I find myself remorseful. Allow me to make amends." He grinned, tenderly caressing your chin before lifting it to meet his own in a soft, tender kiss.
Dabi's kisses persisted, gently tracing his tongue across your lower lip. His lips moved with such deliberation and affection that you found yourself surrendering to the sensations, becoming one with his touch. Gradually, his tongue found its way into your mouth, deepening the kiss until soft moans escaped your lips.
His ardor only intensified, and he encircled his strong arms around your back, causing you to recline atop him, legs entwined, your bosom pressed firmly against his chest, as your lips continued their entrancing dance that seemed boundless in time.
Eventually, the need for air necessitated a brief respite. "Dabi!" You gasped, gently slapping his shoulder. "Let a girl breathe at some point!"
Dabi's brows ascended in astonishment, eliciting a profound chuckle from him. You sensed the reverberation of his mirth coursing through his frame beneath you, while you found yourself captivated by the endearing laughter lines encircling his eyes, which creased charmingly when he smiled.
"Very well, then. I shall bestow my affections elsewhere," he declared with a grin. Gently, Dabi guided your form to recline upon the bed, ensuring your head is cradled amidst a cluster of pillows. With purposeful tenderness, he commenced a journey of kisses, trailing along your neck and gliding down your collarbones until reaching your bosom.
"Mmm... You're truly indulging me today, huh?" You murmured with delight.
Dabi merely smiled, his sizable and adept hands tenderly exploring your sensitive nipples, skillfully tugging and pinching the aroused buds while massaging your flesh.
Such exquisite sensations caused your back to arch involuntarily, and your breath quickened, escaping in rapid, gasping exhalations. At the sound of your voice, Dabi felt his arousal intensify. He reveled in the symphony of your passionate cries, knowing that he was the catalyst for your pleasure, an aspect that instantly aroused him.
Your knees glided upward, constricting around Dabi's torso, drawing him intimately nearer as he persistently caressed your chest, delicately tracing along the divide of your cleavage and teasing your nipples.
"Greedy, are we?" Dabi chuckled, his mouth engulfed between your supple mounds.
Your response was an even louder moan of delight. Prior to meeting Dabi, you had never encountered such arousal from mere fondling. Now, a gentle touch from him alone could leave you dripping with desire.
Being acutely aware of his profound effect on you, Dabi commenced a deliberate descent along your body, until his warm breath tantalized your yearning core.
You bit your lip in anticipation. "Darling, are you — Ah!"
His tongue skillfully traced up your folds, stifling your question with a gratifying slurp. Dabi moved his tongue adeptly, traversing in and out of your wetness, confidently navigating your most sensitive areas to elicit the utmost pleasure. He lapped over your pussy, eagerly savoring every drop of your juices.
Your arousal manifested audibly, saturating the confines of the bedroom.
"Babe, do you hear this? You're such a lascivious enchantress," Dabi playfully taunted, now inserting two fingers into your moist entrance, strategically curling them to stimulate your sweet spot. He knew precisely how to make your body quiver with delight.
As if prompted by an invisible conductor, the moment he gained entry, an ecstatic exclamation escaped your lips, "Oh my, Dabi!" Your knees instinctively encircled his wrist, intensifying the rhythm of his finger's intimate dance within you. With each fervent thrust, your body responded, the pulsating sensations reverberating throughout your being. Streams of moisture cascaded onto the sheets, coating them in a passionate display, while his skillful hands expertly attended to your arousal, one tantalizingly exploring depths, the other delicately stimulating your most sensitive spot.
"Would you cum for me, little slut?" Dabi commanded, increasing the intensity of his thrusts, and you complied. Succumbing to the pleasure, you moaned his name repeatedly as the orgasm washed over you.
With your body still vibrating from the climax, Dabi positioned himself at your wet entrance and effortlessly slid his already painfully erect member inside. He let out a guttural groan, throwing his head back; your tightness gripping him so intensely that he could barely contain the pleasure coursing through him.
"Damn, Dabi, it feels too good! You're stretching me so wonderfully!" You exclaimed, clenching the sheets tightly in your fists.
"That's it, my little slut, you're so wet for me, it's incredible." Dabi uttered, slowly thrusting his dick in and out of you. He adored the sensation of your body against his, as if you were custom-made solely for his gratification.
"Come here, baby," you coaxed, wrapping your arms around his neck as he leaned down to kiss you.
He continued the rhythm of his thrusts, expertly grinding his pelvis against your sensitive clit, prompting you to wrap your legs around his lower back.
Your lips lavished every contour of his exquisite countenance, caressing him and intertwining your fingers through his luscious black locks. With each tender caress, you endeavored to manifest the profoundness of your affection for him.
"Dabi?" You whispered, your lips grazing the corner of his mouth.
"Yeah, little minx?" He gasped, his composure already faltering under the intoxicating pleasure emanating from your intimate connection. His biceps flexed as he supported himself above you, hips undulating with fervor as he relentlessly drove himself into you.
"I love you, Dabi. You're my everything... Oh, fuck! That's it, babe!"
Dabi hesitated, gradually slowing his pace to catch his breath. He gazed deeply into your eyes, revealing the intensity of his adoration for you. He tenderly placed a hand on your cheek, and you leaned into his touch, cherishing the intimacy of that moment. "Y/N, you're too sweet for me," he exhaled. "I love you too." He confessed softly, sealing his heartfelt declaration with another gentle kiss upon your eager lips. With those words, Dabi grunted, pressing on against you, resuming his powerful thrusts as you gasped in surprise, surrendering to the ever-increasing intensity of his ardor, each impact resounding throughout your bodies.
"Oh! Harder, harder!" You encouraged, and your moans escalated in volume. That only served to embolden Dabi further, as he firmly grasped your sides, guiding you down onto his throbbing member while thrusting his hips upward with each fervent motion.
"Babe, I'm about to..." Dabi cried out, relinquishing his usual solemn composure to the euphoria of climax, releasing his thick, warm semen into your heated core.
"Yes!" You exclaimed, the intensity of your own orgasm surging once more.
With a deep groan, Dabi collapsed upon you, his member still intimately connected to your yearning entrance.
"Oof!" You sighed playfully, emitting a giggle. Dabi, you're too heavy for me! Please, get off!" You laughed, exerting pressure against his robust shoulders.
"No!" He teased, revealing his mischievous side. You adored those moments when he broke free from his composed, stoic persona and displayed his juvenile, boyish charm exclusively for you.
Beneath all that gravity lay an insatiable, delectable beast of a man, who was well aware of the art of bringing you to ecstasy while teasingly mocking you throughout. Oh, how deeply you adored this man.
After writhing in pleasure for a little while longer, Dabi eventually relented and withdrew from your slick, wet cunt.
You theatrically gasped, taking in deep breaths now that his weight no longer overwhelmed you, and he responded with an eye roll and a laugh.
"What time is it now?" You inquired, your chest rising and falling, a light glisten of perspiration on your forehead.
Dabi glanced at you. "I don't care. I'm not leaving the bed today."
Turning to your side, you grinned at him. "Shall we go for another round then?"

Hi, @lady-sci-fi I wrote you a fic for your request of Garashir + stranded in a desert + hurt/comfort, for the @startrekwintergiftexchange! Hope you like it! ^_^
Here's the start of the fic! (The whole thing can be found at the ao3 link OR you can expand this post to read the rest of it.)
Red lights flashed and consoles blared angry warnings. The whole runabout shook violently. The planet was getting closer, much too quickly.
“What happened?” Garak asked frantically, coming up behind Julian’s seat and holding tightly to the back of it as the turbulence tried its best to throw him to the floor.
“Solar flare. We’ve lost propulsion, we’re—Shit!—we’re going to crash, I’m sorry, I—” Garak set a hand on Julian’s shoulder for just a moment. Julian took a breath and exhaled. He needed to focus. “I’ll beam us down, I just need to set the coordinates.”
“I’ll grab what supplies I can.”
Julian didn’t have time or presence of mind to acknowledge this, too engrossed in trying desperately to feed in all the parameters the computer would need to transport them somewhere safe. Somewhere on the surface not in midair or underground, somewhere on dry land, somewhere without any other obstacles or topographical features nearby since it wouldn’t do to beam into a rock or a tree or the ledge on the side of a cliff…
The computer finished its calculations and the transporter pad lit up. Julian ran to the back of the runabout, grabbing Garak’s hand on the way and pulling him along with him.
Julian squeezed his hand and they stepped into the transporter beam simultaneously. He wasn’t sure where they would end up. But at least wherever they went, they would go together.
~
The Defiant would rescue them soon, Garak knew.
Garak’s most recent decoding efforts had narrowed down the location of the new base to three possible planets, and when he’d learned that Julian was up next for a shift of runabout piloting, he’d offered to accompany him on the recon mission himself.
Their first stop, Eolia III, had turned out to have an atmosphere that was a bit thin and a climate that was a bit extreme, but the scans showed that it was Jem’Hadar-free. Perfectly harmless, they’d determined.
But the star of the system seemed to object to that categorization, releasing a massive solar flare just as they were attempting to leave orbit, and knocking out propulsion and guidance systems.
And now they were trapped on this world until someone on the Defiant or Starbase 375 noticed that they were late for their rendez-vous. It shouldn’t be long. Starfleet required regular comms and check-ins for missions like these, and they knew exactly which planet they were on. It would be a day or two at most. Sooner, if the distress beacon they’d activated was working.
Knowing all of this did nothing to ameliorate Garak’s sense that this would be the end for both of them.
They were in the middle of a sandy desert, no water or shade cover in sight. They’d painstakingly climbed to the crest of the tallest dune they could see, the loose sand underfoot making them slip back one step for every two steps forward, only to find that the undulating waves of periwinkle sand stretched to the horizon on all sides. With a view like that, it was hard to dismiss the glum—and irrational, he hoped—thought that their bodies would soon get swallowed up by this sea of sand, never to be found.
Garak was sure that he would have very quickly given up and succumbed to the elements without the calming effect of Julian’s incongruously optimistic disposition in light of their problems.
“Oh, Garak, we’re in a right mess, aren’t we,” Julian said with a chuckle and a shake of his head. “When I told the transporter to set us down in a nice, safe, soft, flat spot, I must have searched for a safe landing ellipse of kilometers not meters. Well, there’s no point in wandering far away from the distress beacon. Nothing for it but to wait. Come on, there’s a little shade on this side.”
Then he turned so he was facing parallel to the crest of the dune and planted his feet at different heights on the steeper leeward slope, and let himself slide down the slope, using the arm closer to the dune to slow his descent and keep his balance.
When he looked up at Garak, triumphant, dusted in sand, his smile somehow outshone the sun that was beating down on them.
Garak followed him down, more slowly and cautiously. He was sure it was taking much more energy to control his descent compared to Julian’s method, but it would be worth it to keep himself a little less dusty. Besides, he was sure that he would immediately fall on his ass if he tried it, and he didn’t fancy making a fool of himself in front of Julian.
As it was, he still almost fell a few times, despite his less reckless approach. Julian watched him closely, starting to move toward him each time he wobbled, then stopping when Garak kept his balance. He offered his hand to help Garak on the final stretch to the base of the dune.
It was a relief when he reached the bottom. After the exertion of setting up the distress beacon and climbing up and then the sisyphean slopes of the dune, the sun’s heat seemed to throb in Garak’s head.
“Thank you, my dear,” Garak said, nearly out of breath, letting go of Julian’s hand.
He’d meant to add “Doctor,” but it was too late now.
“Any time.”
They set down their packs—two bug-out bags of emergency survival gear and Julian’s medkit—and sat in the slight shade that the steeper slope of the dune provided. Julian slathered himself with sunscreen and insisted that Garak do the same, despite any protests over the sliminess of it.
The light blueish-purple color of the sand, while beautiful in theory, was irritating in practice. The way it reflected light provided no relief from the intensity of the sun. Garak kept his eyes closed as much as possible, but the brightness of this planet seemed to pierce his eyelids, and he complained about it incessantly for a while until his mouth started to feel dry. He gave up on keeping his clothes pristine and leaned back against the sandy slope with one arm thrown over his face to create more shade.
Julian never stopped talking, except to take precious sips of water from their limited supplies. He told Garak everything he knew about the morphology of sand dunes, the rare diseases that can be transported by dust storms, the various places on Earth and Mars that they could visit to see impressive rock formations made from ancient sand dunes (and tentative plans to visit them together, once there was time), the strange plants and animals that inhabit various deserts on Earth… anything that came to that delightful mind of his.
Garak, for the most part, was content to take in the pleasant sound of his voice, only occasionally throwing in his own commentary and comparisons to Cardassian deserts. It was striking how animated Julian seemed now, and Garak found himself grinning, susceptible to the infectiousness of Julian’s good mood.
And what a difference from this entire past month! They’d all been shuffling mindlessly between the Defiant and Starbase 375, from battle to battle, but Julian in particular had seemed more affected than most. His once eager eyes were now haunted, his once rosy outlook darkened. So it made Garak glad to see that Julian’s spark of joy hadn’t been lost completely to the horrors of war. It had just been a little bit buried. Garak wondered what about being stuck on this desolate planet could have possibly unearthed it again.
Thirst began to gnaw at Garak’s throat more insistently as the day wore on. Unlike Julian, and in defiance of the rational part of his mind, he still didn’t completely trust that they would be rescued quickly, so didn’t want to use up all of their supplies right away. It was uncomfortable but he could handle it. He liked heat—well, it was better than cold, anyway. And this sun was no harsher than Cardassia’s. His scales should be well suited to the climate.
But soon, the sun was nearly overhead and all of their shade was gone, and he wasn’t so sure anymore. His clothes were dark and drank up the heat of the sun, and, despite his usual complaints about the unacceptable chill of Federation stations and starships, he was now much, much hotter than he would have liked. Julian was sweating too; he could see the glisten of it on his skin—
“Garak, could you give me a hand setting this up?”
He blinked. Julian seemed to be wrestling with the tent poles and tarps from their packs. Garak dutifully stood up, then immediately staggered. His head was spinning.
Julian ran over, and put an arm around him to steady him. “Hey, careful now.” He helped him gently back down to the ground and knelt beside him. “What are you feeling?”
“Dizzy.” He licked his dry lips. “Hot.”
Julian looked him over. He placed his fingers on the pulse point on his wrist and then after a little while brushed the back of his hand across Garak’s forehead. “I think it’s heat exhaustion. That’s not good, but at least there’s no obvious fever, so it’s probably not heat stroke. Not yet anyway. But I’ll need to monitor you with the tricorder to make sure it doesn’t get any worse, is that okay?”
Garak hesitated, then nodded.
“All right,” Julian said, seeming a little relieved that Garak was going to let him scan his vitals without the usual fight about it. “You’ll need to drink more water. Slowly, though. I’ll see if I can find a packet of electrolytes to add to it, too, that might help a bit. And then I’ll finish the tent and we can get you out of the sun.”
Garak nodded weakly, as Julian pressed the water bottle into his hand. He took little sips, as instructed, while Julian bustled about setting up camp and fussing over Garak at intervals. Garak felt foolish for thinking he could handle the elements. He’d either grown unforgivably weak in his years on the station or he’d simply forgotten what it was like in an environment like this and had overestimated his ability.
After what felt like a long time of doing nothing but diligently following doctor’s orders, the worst of it did begin to ebb. He even managed to force down a ration bar, at Julian’s behest, while Julian was putting the finishing touches on the tent.
When it was all set up, Julian ushered him into the tent, then followed him in. Garak was a little surprised by that. He’d expected Julian to start setting up the second tent next.
It barely felt any cooler inside. They left the flaps open in hopes of a breeze to make it less of an oven. Still, the reprieve from the direct sunlight was undeniably welcome.
Julian took another scan of Garak with the medical tricorder and studied the results.
“You’re doing great, Garak! You seem well on your way to recovery, and as the sun goes down it should start cooling off to a more comfortable temperature soon…” His brow furrowed. “Hmm, the temperature may then get uncomfortable in the other direction at night. But I suppose we’ll deal with that later. I think for now you should try to get a bit of rest.”
As he spoke, Julian was already pulling a sleeping bag out of one of the packs and spreading it out for him.
“You’ll get no argument from me.” Garak, still feeling utterly drained, curled up on top of the sleeping bag once it was ready. Garak laid on his side looking up at Julian, whose long legs splayed out across the floor of the tent.
“Mmm, and that’s one way I can tell you’re out of sorts. Lack of argumentativeness is a symptom not to be taken lightly for you, Garak,” he teased. “But some rest should get you back into fine arguing form.”
“Good. I’d hate to deprive you of such a thing for long.”
Julian grinned. “I don’t know how I’d survive,” he said sarcastically and yet so fondly that Garak’s heart began pounding in his throat.
Garak’s lingering delirium and the beauty of Julian’s smile conspired to make him blurt out, “It’s good to see you smile again.”
“Oh?”
“I’ve been worried about you lately, but this trip… I have no idea what could have possibly lifted your spirits in this horrid wasteland, but whatever it is, I’m glad.”
Julian grew a little bit somber then.
“I suppose a big part of it is that it’s nice to have an excuse not to think about the war, for just a little while. When we’re in the midst of things, I feel like I’m carrying the weight of the entire war on my back. Always trying to figure out how we could win against impossible odds, or at least make it out alive. Always thinking about the people I couldn’t save—or worse, the ones who I maybe could have saved if I’d just done something differently. But right now…” He shrugged. “There’s absolutely nothing we can do except try to survive ourselves. And that’s freeing, I suppose, in a way.”
“I see. Nothing like a smaller crisis to distract from the much broader, vaguer one.”
“Exactly,” he said emphatically, like he was relieved that Garak had understood him.
Then a slight smile crept back onto his face. “And besides, I’m here with you.”
“Ah yes. ‘Misery loves company.’” Garak recited the human expression, recalling their recent time in the Dominion prison together. “I’m glad that you didn’t get stranded here alone.”
“Well, yes, but…” Julian bit his lip. “It would be a bit more accurate to say that misery loves this company in particular.”
Garak’s eyes widened.
“Oh, don’t look at me like that, I know you made sure that we got assigned to this mission together. I know you missed me, too.”
“Of course I did. Hardly anyone on Starbase 375 has read The Never-Ending Sacrifice.”
“Am I really the only one willing to indulge you?”
“That’s right. You spoil me.”
Julian laughed and then sighed. “I wish that it hadn’t taken a shuttle crash for us to get to spend time together. But these days I’ll have to take what I can get.”
After a moment of consideration, Garak felt he ought to get back on even ground with him. He pushed himself back up to a seated position. Once certain he wasn’t having another spell of dizziness from the change in position, he reached out for Julian’s hand.
Their fingers slipped together so familiarly.
“What else might you take,” Garak asked, “if you could get it?” He rubbed his thumb delicately over the back of Julian’s hand.
“Anything.”
Julian lifted their joined hands and pressed his lips to Garak’s knuckles, lingering long enough that Garak’s breath caught in his throat.
“Everything,” Julian breathed, looking at him from under long lashes.
The heat burning in Garak now had nothing to do with the weather. Their lips met and then their bodies met, and soon enough hands were slipping across sweaty skin to explore the last of each other’s secrets.
~
They were sound asleep, tangled in each other’s arms, when the Defiant arrived to rescue them the next morning.

Ad astra, non planetarum
With current talk of the pipe dream of colonizing Mars, I'd like to put forth a more realistic notion:
We are never going to colonize other planets at all.
Now, I'm not saying we will give up on space and stick on this little ball of rock. I mean, yes, it's a pretty nice ball of rock and it's well-suited to us, but there are Damned Good Reasons to not limit ourselves.
However, it's a really nice ball of rock, in terms of human life. Uniquely so. To the extent that it's kind of silly to think of Humans as independent organisms. We are part of this ecosystem. I think it's fair to say Earth's ecosystems would largely continue without us - we are not a keystone species in most cases - that ecosystem is crucial to our survival.
We are uniquely suited to, and reliant on, Earth conditions in ways which are both obvious and subtle.
It's not hard to replicate straightforward things like temperature, pressure, and atmosphere. We're at the point where we can - with risks, to be sure - create shirtsleeve conditions both on the ocean floor and in space. Gone are the days of Oxygen-only environments for space, and exotic gas mixes aren't obligatory for deep sea exploration.
That's enough for brief little excursions. For longer time periods, though, that's not enough. Earth's Van Allen belts and ozone layer protect us from the worst of cosmic radiation (fun fact! Apollo astronauts reported seeing bright flashes. This was due to high energy particles passing through their eyes! This is horrifying!).
There's also the microbial world. Now, a controlled environment has some advantages - people don't get the common cold at the South Pole, because everyone who goes there undergoes quarantine and screening so they don't bring in unwanted bugs - but you need your gut bacteria, your skin mites, your yeasts. There's even the old friends hypothesis that you need some exposure to allergans so your immune system doesn't freak out. So a fully-controlled long-term environment has some potential issues there.
But we haven't even touched the big one: gravity. Humans evolved on a nice 1g planet, and living a long time in lower G is... not great. Technically the ISS and other orbital habitats are not in zero G, they're in freefall, but the effect is (probably) the same. It has significant effects on bone density, lymphatic drainage, and cardiovascular health, just to name a few things.
Some of these issues can be ameliorated. I recall discussing with a friend how to handle the radiation issue - I was coming up with a design for a hypothetical P5 containment facility out at a LaGrange point - and he suggested sintered lunar dust as shielding. Because in the absence of a planetary dynamo generating a magnetic shield, you need a lot of mass to block that sort of stuff.
And sure, we'll probably work out the microbial stuff. The gravity, though... we do kinda need it. And so far there's exactly one way to generate gravity: a centrifuge. Which could be adapted to operate on a planet, but would be an engineering challenge. It would be necessary, though, as the only planets with surface gravity even close to Earth's are Venus and (with caveats vis a vis their lack of a "surface") the three outermost gas giants. And I cannot even go into how difficult it would be to build a habitat on Venus. So you couldn't have people permanently living on one of the other planets - they'd have to rotate out every few months, and even then have permanent health issues.
Not to mention that those other planets all have their own issues. For example, moon dust turns out to be terribly abrasive and gets everywhere, which is bad for equipment. Martian soil is full of toxic perchlorates. Venus is... well, Venus. Mercury is at times inside the solar corona. Not only is Mars a bad place to raise your kids, so are the other planets.
What I'm getting at is, in order to have a habitat on any other planetary body, we'd necessarily need to have a fully-realized supporting space station. A habitat in space which provides not just heat and atmosphere, but has a functional facsimile of a Terran ecosystem, is largely a closed or at least self-sustaining system in terms of food and water, provides gravity, has appropriate radiation shielding, and addresses whatever other unknown unknowns we have with extraterrestrial habitation. Some of the solutions can be put on a planetary body, but only a few are easier to implement on a planet, and some may not be possible on a planetary body at all. Moreover, before we could do them on a planet we'd inevitably have to build them all in a space station at the same place anyway.
Which means that you decide you want to go to Mars. Or Epsilon Eridani. Whatever. You build a pretty comfortable space station, you park it in orbit. Then you decide to build an inferior habitat on the planet below. At which point you need to address the exorbitant cost of going in and out of a gravity well. And for what? Bragging rights?
I'm reluctant to cast this strictly in economic terms, but from where we are right now, it looks like it will never make sense (assuming humans remain as biological entities) to colonize other planets: we will always have to build something better first, and a planetary habitat will be both more expensive and inferior to a space habitat.

I've watched American horror story, yes it's obviously fictional, but one thing struck with me. Do you believe there are hellmouths in the world similar to Hotel Cortez or the Murder House? Places where evil spirits gather and they have a much darker vibe than usual, and where spirits of the deceased can get trapped?
it would make sense to me that certain energies and spirits may gather together if such a place was calling them.
For example, if a person works with a lot of aggressive spirits in a space and only does that sort of work. The space takes on a tone of those sorts of working. It becomes a beacon to those sorts of spirits, and those sorts of spirits will gather there at times of offering and magical workings.
The opposite is also true- spiritual workings that work with beings that are of a more ameliorative nature will attract lighter beings- solar beings?- I am struggling to find the correct term. But essentially like attracts like. My home has spirits come and go, but they are generally of a positive nature and are around to partake of offerings and aid in spiritual work.
If I cursed all the time my home may have a very different environment.
As for the spirits becoming trapped there? No, I don't believe so. Unless a magician bound them to an object or something or used a 'spirit trap' but even then such effects are sometimes only temporary and what you actually trap is not an entire entity in my opinion but usually a fragment of its essence.
I don't really believe the dead are simply roaming around anyway. I believe most ghost stories involving entities taking on human form are actually trickster spirits rather than departed humans. But that is simply my personal belief. The dead may visit, but they do not reside here is my opinion.

The stories captured in the first season of the Reimagine Rural podcast offer important lessons at a pivotal policy moment for equitable rural development in the U.S. The current Congress is negotiating a new Farm Bill, the legislation agreed upon every five years that sets agricultural subsidies and authorizes the rural development programs managed by USDA (United States Department of Agriculture). Implementation is also underway for some of the most consequential place-based federal resources approved this century through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), the CHIPs and Science Act (CHIPS), and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). All these pieces of legislation implicate rural places to a significant degree, either through programs exclusively focused on rural—or through programs that will necessarily include rural to a large degree.
To enable policy solutions that maximize the public benefit of these federal resources, the lessons from Reimagine Rural suggest a multi-pronged strategy that could be effective in the immediate term:
1. Shift the mindset from decline to opportunity
The podcast highlighted the diversity of economies that are emerging throughout rural America. While agriculture remains culturally and economically important in some places, it provides seven percent of aggregate rural employment, and the pursuit of off-farm employment by farmers continues to grow. At the same time, rural America is well-positioned for an array of new opportunities associated with clean energy and digital economies—solar farms, wind turbines, mineral mining, battery and chips manufacturing, data farms and distribution networks, and even innovation hubs. Many rural places are also seeking to strengthen their local entrepreneurial ecosystems and grow and diversify their locally owned enterprises. Seeing rural America as a place of opportunity, and focusing on policy to maximize the benefits of opportunities that lie beyond agriculture, must be the mindset of policymakers as they put together the Farm Bill and implement the resources approved in the recently passed legislation.
2. Invest in readiness
The podcast highlighted the challenges that local leaders, governments, and institutions face in accessing federal resources due to inadequate administrative capacity, expertise, and experience. Federal programs often exacerbate rather than ameliorate this situation: Match requirements make opportunities inaccessible, application processes are over-burdensome, and much of the funding is narrowly tied to physical pieces of infrastructure. This leaves little support for the “software” of community and economic development that was so evident and essential throughout the Reimagine Rural stories: staffing, partnerships with rural development hubs, and the creation of new local collaborations.
Recognition of these dynamics has led to a welcome focus on offering new funds for technical assistance, such as the $177 million investment in Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Centers by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Growing such efforts, especially ones associated with the programs being implemented through IIJA, CHIPs, and IRA, will be helpful. Yet such technical assistance funding is by definition often confined to a particular program, and it may not be specifically designed to meet the unique challenges and constraints faced by rural places.
A proposed rural investment initiative for the Farm Bill, based on the key elements of the previously suggested Rural Partnership Program, would offer flexible multi-year funding directly to rural communities to build capacity, hire staff, engage in pre-development activities, partner with rural intermediaries and experts, or strengthen local institutions and collaboration. The funds could also be used to provide a match for other federal programs. A portion of the funds would be set aside to strengthen national, regional, and local organizations that provide technical expertise and have proven track records in strengthening capacity in rural places—exactly the type of effective partnersthat local leaders described so regularly throughout the podcast. Given the urgency of the moment, a mandatory spending appropriation between $1-2.5 billion would make this a viable solution.
Such support could accelerate and scale up the work in local rural communities to develop shared priorities and create a pipeline of viable projects that has proven effective in accessing and absorbing public capital. The effort could also create a Rural Service Corps, placing fellows directly in rural towns to assist with local community and economic development initiatives, building on existing efforts such as the American Connection Corps and the Economic Recovery Corps. This combination of flexible and direct funding for local capacity; investment in partner organizations; and attraction of new human capital would be a significant step forward in helping a wide array of rural communities, especially those in persistent poverty or historically affected by political marginalization, to unlock the resources and opportunities reflected in the IIJA, CHIPs, and IRA.
3. Improve coherence
Federal programs available for rural community and economic development remain convoluted, fragmented, and spread throughout every part of the federal government—and new programs created by the IIJA, CHIPs, and the IRA will only exacerbate this. Penetrating the muddle that defines the supply of federal capital investment, and identifying which resources are most appropriate for a community’s purposes, remains daunting, especially for the most vulnerable rural communities. Improving coordination across the federal government and reducing the barriers for local communities are imperative.
The Biden administration has launched the Rural Partners Network (RPN) to place federal staff in vulnerable rural communities and work directly with local partnerships to identify which federal resources will best meet their unique needs. One of RPN’s most powerful elements is the Rural Prosperity Interagency Policy Council, a collaboration of 20 federal agencies and regional commissions co-led by the White House Domestic Policy Council and USDA to enhance coordination and ensure program design is sensitive to rural constraints. RPN is active in selected communities in ten states; the Farm Bill presents an opportunity to institutionalize its interagency process and authorize the program, so it can grow into more states and strengthen the coordination across the federal government.
4. Invest at a meaningful scale
Some communities are seeking to reverse declines that have been decades in the making—success will require persistence, stamina, and meaningful investment. Yet the size, flexibility, and consistency of capital available to communities that are ready, and have developed the capacity to take on transformational work, remains inadequate to the task. Policymakers must learn from experiments such as the $1 billion Build Back Better Regional Challenge launched by the Economic Development Administration (EDA) with funds from the American Rescue Plan Act, and continue to develop new programs where rural places can access large, flexible block grants at a scale large enough to give them a meaningful on-ramp toward economic transformation.
The implementation of the Recompete Pilot Program by EDA, approved as part of the CHIPs and Science Act, will invest $200 million in large grants to spur economic activity in persistently distressed areas. Incorporating a preference or carve-out for rural places would be a major step toward enabling the type of generational change that Brandon Dennison described will be necessary to scale up success across rural America. The Rebuild Rural America Act sponsored by Senator Kristen Gillibrand (D-NY) and Representative Nikki Budzinski (IL-13) also recognizes the need for large-scale investment, proposing block grants directly to regional rural councils.
5. Increase transparency
Learning about the types of successful approaches that podcast interviewees described, and understanding the depth and breadth of federal investments, remains too challenging, especially for the general public. The Rural Development Gateway recently launched by USDA-RD represents an important step in redressing this. But at this point, it provides information only on a narrowly defined set of funding mechanisms and lacks the ability to match important demographic characteristics—such as race, age, and sex—to the resource allocations. Improving the measurement of outcomes, increasing the accessibility of information on funding flows to rural areas from across the entire federal government, and enhancing the rigor of rural data could be facilitated by Farm Bill investments to update outdated information systems and ensure technology that is fit for purpose.
The experiences that local leaders recounted in Reimagine Rural reinforce the idea that federal rural policy would benefit from a systemic overhaul. The supply of public capital for economic and social transformation remains inaccessible and outdated, and U.S. policymakers lack a common vision for how rural places can and should thrive in the 21st–century economy. Larger considerations—such as creating a national rural policy, and reorganizing or even launching new bureaucratic structures—remain important and urgent considerations.
Yet the leaders who told their stories also demonstrated the wisdom in taking concrete, practical steps and working iteratively to build positive momentum even as they envision a more comprehensive transformation. These policy recommendations offer a similar opportunity: a set of feasible actions in the near term so the outcomes of the 2023 Farm Bill and the implementation of IIJA, CHIPs, and the IRA enable rural places to access capital and resources that will matter—and help them reimagine their economic and social futures.

The lights are blue now I am too
“Light is the most important stimulus for regulating circadian and behavioral systems.5 It synchronizes the circadian clock to the solar day and regulates sleep. Therefore, irregular light exposure impairs circadian rhythms and sleep. Exposure of mice to brief light stimuli during their nocturnal active phase induces several simultaneous behavioral and physiological responses, including circadian rhythm phase shifts and changes to circadian rhythms.”
“An increase in social jet lag and blue-light exposure at night in modern society indicates that circadian misalignment and sleep disorders have emerged as significant health problems. Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) emit high intensities of blue wavelengths of light that are associated with blue-light hazard. Blue-light reduction at night may be beneficial for better sleep quality”
“Our results suggest that suppression of blue light at night effectively maintains circadian rhythms and metabolism.”

Having feelings for more than one person over the years is so interesting to me. I tried to do a small exercise to get in touch with my feelings (because I’m generally a detached bitch and so on and so forth).
I was listening to a song by Lana that I used to listen to a lot when I first got with my first love, which has the quality of bringing me back visually to that period with an eerie accuracy, almost like an open-eyes dream. The song also brought me back into the feelings I had for him at the time, which are quite different from what I feel for him now, and I basked in it for a while. I then opened my eyes and tried to focus on the most recent person I developed feelings for, and this was a bit easier as it’s closer in time.
I was shocked to find out how radically different the two feelings were, not in intensity but in quality. I don’t mean it in any pejorative or ameliorative way at all, for I do have a deep devotion for the few times i’ve been soft for someone, regardless of the outcome. But it struck me how.....different they felt.
The feeling I associated with my first love was dense and enchanting, something captivating and mysterious that has a sense of danger associated to it - a danger of wanting more and not being able to focus away. A sweet and sophisticated flavour - like fine dining or rare liquor. An energy not open but entrenching, that I associate with addiction, or dreams. Something you want to sink in, not run with. Almost feminine and mermaid-like in its quality, with a melancholy that doesn’t come from remembering, but is intrinsic in the feeling itself - that I recall being present from the very beginning. Something beautiful, sophisticated, and intoxicating in its complexity.
If I had to associate the feeling to a song t’d be Old Money by Lana del Rey. If I had to associate it to an element it would be water, specifically sea-water, deep and purple-blue.
The second feeling for the new boy was diffuse and broadening, with an almost physical quality- like sunlight penetrating your closed lids. That tingling feeling that precedes a sneaky smile you can’t hold back. Something open, greater than you, that takes you in and makes you feel dizzy and lightheaded. Intoxicating, but in a different way: it doesn’t daze you but makes you wanna run and sing at the top of your lungs. A foreign beach in broad daylight- like stepping into a primordial Garden of Eden. There’s an element of danger to it, too, like being somewhere you’re not supposed to see. Wide spaces, light, nature, the sense of unspoken pleasures awaiting. Something you can’t control. A sense of curiosity you can’t hold back, the bitterness of a lemon on your lips. Touching something for the first time. Something sharp, competent, appealing, and somewhat detached, which makes you feel childish and silly compared to it.
If I had to associate the feeling to a song, it’d be Solar Power by Lorde. Its element would be air - like the wind against a sail.
How can we attach the same name “love”, to two things that feel so different from one another? They’re both slightly alienating, dangerously appealing, but the difference between the two is not subtle: it’s drastic.
#the first dude is dionsyan the second is apolliniean#Dionysos and Apollon#the divine child archetype and the beautiful competent young men#i’ll never be truly free of the first but can’t wait to discover the others#if i will ever be able to#Gretrash#liebe
