I’m not sure if this makes sense but Roman is the middle child with the way he acts and the way everyone treats and reacts to him but he is also the youngest child in a sense with the way he acts and the way everyone treats him.

no, you're right! it makes sense because he IS a middle child, but he's the youngest *brother*. the gender bias with which shiv is treated by the men in her family means her status as the youngest is not as impactful as her being the Only Girl™️. roman is the youngest in a way the men in his family understand, but Shiv is more adultified because of the misogyny around her (along with Roman's immaturity/ Ken's addiction/Connor's...Connoring). Because it falls on her to be the mature one so much (and gendered expectations), she's not perceived as the youngest the way Roman is. being the youngest of your gender is still being the youngest, but it also doesn't negate being in the middle (take it from someone who is also the 3rd/youngest of their agab, but older sibling to the youngest sibling). gender is the biggest factor, and arguably the most under-analysed factor that affects the dynamics between who is perceived as older/younger with the Roys because they're mixed-gender siblings.

I was scrolling through twitter and found a Jiang Cheng take where op said he is not a villain or side character or love interest but a representation of collateral damage which is why fans, especially Wei Wuxian stans hate him and makes Jiang Cheng more relatable to them. Which was so wrong I had to write down the list of crimes Jiang Cheng committed and post them on my blog here.

crimes against humanity aside. what collateral damage 😭 all his losses were at the hands of the wen whereas wei wuxian literally gave him a new core and won the war for him so he could be a sect leader like he always wanted. going forward he only suffered wei wuxian leaving on his request, for his benefit and his sister dying in a conflict he also had a hand in causing, which, wouldn't she be better for the imaginary part of personifying collateral damage? the innocent bystander who got dragged into a violent political mess she had little to no way of influencing? why assign the concept of unearned loss to a character who ends the story alive, healthy, rich, powerful, and spared from the consequences of their spite-fuelled killing sprees and constant semi-realistic displays of physical and emotional abuse? jiang cheng is a character clearly designed to represent toxic behaviour and stagnant growth and that's why everyone hates him

I love when you post Haymitch x Effie quotes from the book. They were already one of my favorites from the film but the quotes just make me love them even more.

so glad someone appreciates my insanity posting over them 💕 I love how background/subtext they are because we're reading from katniss' pov and she's got so much else on her mind (rightly so), she doesn't really pay attention. makes it so cute honestly because when she does talk about haymitch and effie directly she's always like "they hate eachother obviously. anyway..." but then there's all these little moments she describes where that's so obviously not the case; like effie fixing Haymitch's phone, the fact that everytime katniss mouths off to effie she knows haymitch will be mad at her for it, effie almost always thinking of haymitch first when it comes to coordinating the team, haymitch warning katniss not to tell effie dangerous info to protect her, effie quitting drinking to help haymitch stay sober, the amount of times they both indirectly compliment each other in katniss' presence, the fact they're always coming out of rooms together, haymitch wanting to hug Effie when he's drunk - and this is just stuff I picked up in the first book and half of the second (which is where I'm up to in my reread). But yeah I loved them in the films. one of the few things I think the movies did do very right was let woody and elisabeth play with that subtext in the limited way they could...imagine what could be achieved if they ordered a tv series of thg instead of, you know, remaking some other ya series <\3

I think the novel you were referring to is Sakura Hiden and it had Sakura and Ino opening a clinic for orphans. The sasusaku content is mostly Sakura pining after Sasuke and he did return but he left again without even saying goodbye 💀

That’s probably the one! I was watching a n meta video and the dudes that mentioned (they brought it up for a reason tho) it up, started to laugh so hard about it and made me want to look into it for myself but I just couldn’t ☠️.
