Guys I'm gonna be honest, I'm fucking terrified about KOSA and the fact that it might pass. Like, as a minor, I WANT to still be able to use the internet. To read my silly fanfics, and look at other people's amazing creations. I don't want that taken away.

Being on Tumblr and with everyone here has helped me cope so much in the past few years, that if I loose it I don't know what I'll do. Because it'll all be censored.

Content about LGBT, information about recent events, protests and even anything as small as fucking fanfiction might be taken away be weeks end.

I'm scared. I don't want to loose it all. And I'm gonna fight for it tooth and nail to be able to keep what I have, and I ask that anyone who sees this helps the cause too. Because it's bigger than just me. Every single person online will be affected.

Black History Month at FFL: Highlighting Black Feedist Content Creators

As we round out the end of Black History Month, us here at FFL thought it was important to highlight our fellow feedist community members in the present! These Black feedist content creators put in the work year round to provide amazing feedist content. Models and Sex Workers are a huge part of the feedist community. They are pillars – providing the community with unique erotic content that could otherwise be hard to find as people with non-normative sexualities and desires, as well as providing ample representation of the diverse array of people who have and love this kink. Not only is this work needed, but it can be incredibly healing and validating to find erotic content highlighting feedism, especially if it is made by creators that look like you!

As the world has grown increasingly reactionary and puritanical towards porn, sex work, and virtual erotic content, censorship has grown alarmingly commonplace. Many workers find that it is a struggle to be visible on platforms and social media sites, and this struggle only heightens when you have to deal with antiblack and fatphobic algorithms and moderators. While FFL cannot remedy the shifting tides of internet censorship, the least we can do is create a resource that makes it easier for people to find and support our working members of the feedist community.

After reaching out to Black content creators, a handful agreed to be highlighted on FFL’s website and social media. Featured below are five feedist models alongside links to their clip and fansites, linktrees to find all their content, wishlists, as well as preferred payment methods! If you are looking for feedist content, check out the wide variety offered in these model’s catalogs. Okay, FINE, the shows you should watch for BL's QUEER AF roots

You ready to go hunting?

Many of these are difficult to find. Also many of the images of them and their posters have been block/banned by tumblr, so, no screen grabs for you! (Good times.)

I don't necessarily *like* any of these, but if you are queer and in this fandom and need to dialogue around BL's queerness - these are going to provide a foundation for you. They are important for various industry, reputation, directorial, and cultural reasons. As seeds often are.

Trigger warnings throughout.

The true beginnings:

Boys Love, Japan's 2006 movie is a REALLY rough start featuring a journalist + hot model = murder gay, mild necrophilia, cheating, abuse, rape, and suicide for love. Start as you mean to go on, why don't you, Japan? Is it queer... maybe? Is it BL... honey, I am very sorry to inform you, this started BL.

Note: Yoshikazu Kotani is famous in og BL circles since he acted in 3 early BLs, both Boys Loves and then Same Difference. Also he v tall and hawt.

Eternal Summer, Taiwan 2006 - unlike Japan, Taiwan did NOT start how it would, eventually, go on. But what a messy way to start. A high school story of 3 besties in a love triangle, self discovery, and sexual awakening that fucks it all up.

No Regret, Korea 2006, is a very unhinged queer catastrophe piece about a lost gay man who ends up a host and then almost a murderer because of both his job and his identity.

Note: This is the directorial feature film debut of Lee-Song Hee-il Korea's (so far as I know) first openly gay director who specialized (to this day) in queer content.

The Love of Siam, Thailand 2007, this was Thailand's queer awakening, sure they would backpedal for YEARS after, but in 2022 they began to remember what this movie was (and did) and overtly referenced this quiet little masterpiece. This movie is sad but stunning in that way that the best queer works from Thailand can be (like Present Perfect or ITSAY.) It has Thailand's quintessential softness around theme and character, which you'll understand perfectly when highlighted against the backdrop of the early 2000s works from Japan, Korea, and Taiwan. Thailand will never lose this soft style and it's one of the most attractive qualities of Thai BL: it's never very harsh with us or its characters. This movie very easily COULD have been quite harsh indeed.

I thought long and hard about including Rice Rhapsody AKA Hainan Chicken Rice (Hainan ji fan) on this list and finally decided it doesn't really qualify. Still let me mention Hong Kong's 2005 movie. It is amazing, fascinating, and very rough going for an ostensible comedy. It wasn't the actual beginning because few saw it and Hong Kong never really picked up or ran with BL let alone QL, but it was hella queer. It's also hella homophobic.

Just Friends? (2009 Korea) - this is Korea's first (kinda) upbeat version of a BL featuring already established boyfriends, one of whom is on military leave, trying to decide on coming out, family life, and the future. All of these are themes Korea will pretty much never tackle again, retreating as they would to their bubble. But what a fun little offering this little show was and is to this day. You should watch it.

Like Love 1 AKA I Love You As A Man: Part 1 - China's 2014 offering is actually pretty classic early form live action yaoi with things like whipping boy, a university setting, rich/poor jock/nerd pairing, hard grumpy/sunshine and a very odd title. It's pre-censorship with an HEA, also explicit, yeah China once did that. This is a lot less queer that it is classic BL and classic Chinese romance, neither of which have any kind of connection to reality. But hey, that's what I'm here for. But it's important to note the drifting away from queerness beginning to occur.

Love Sick - Thailand's 2014 "boys in blues shorts" high school set soapy (in all ways) offering is widely considered the true beginning of Thai BL and by default, eventually, BL as we know it today. (As the biggest producer they somewhat dictate taste and trends in the genre.) This is one of those BLs that owes almost nothing to yaoi, although it started a number of tropes that are now endemic to Thai BL. What it is, instead, is a well scripted story of bisexual self-discovery and the inherent chaos of loving someone of the same gender for the first time, all wrapped up in hormones, existing relationships, and communication issues. It is high school queer angst at its messiest. Nothing is going to be easy for these boys because queer isn’t easy but also because life isn’t easy… welcome to adulthood sweethearts. Is is overtly queer? For 2014 Thailand? Sure is.

Love Next Door 2 a movie from 2014 and one of Thailand’s early very high heat pieces, it’s odd, but sexy I guess? Some unexpectedly decent queer rep including femme characters getting screen time + HEAs. (Part one from 2013 has the same high heat content and features the same lead character (and actor) discovering he is gay with the sex worker next door, but isn't as good nor is it relevant to this installment.)

A few other unknowns, for the queer babies

Wait For Me at Udagawachou AKA Udagawachou de Matteteyo - from Japan in 2015, this is a story about two boys in high school one of whom is a repressed outsider and the other who has a terrible secret (body dysmorphia & cross dressing). When the first boy discovers what's up with the second one, his reaction is very much fetishization. "Oh Japan must you?" kinda started for me with this show. But in this case, Japan, weirdly MUST. This is the ONLY show laboring under (and testing) a pointedly straight lens (or is it?) and identity examination (yes but which boys' identity? that's the question) that I've EVER seen even edge into the BL genre. It is crazy queer, even as it mostly focuses on the fetishization of identity from an outsider's perspective. I WISH more people in fandom would watch it so I could at least talk to someone about it.

The Lover (BL Cut) Korea's 2015 series had multiple couples in an apartment complex, one pair of whom is a BL romance between a Korean man and a visiting Japanese tourist (played by a Kpop idol). It's comedic, slapstick sexy only (no kissing), but basically starts up Korea's bubble and use of idols in BL. It's kinda fascinating to watch them dodge around and still represent gayness in what (is sadly destined to become) a very Chinese way, but which Korea in pursuit of Hallyu and market share would morph into the bubble.

Mr. X and I from China in 2015 is a compilation piece and, I think, the first of this kind of multiple narrative shorter grab bags AKA "Sampler Pack BL." Two of the stories are very queerly sad, but the third is CLASSIC BL of the kind that would become China's best (and last) true BL, Addicted.

Sweet Boy, (Thai 2016) Chimon's first gay role and it is quite sad, oddly sexy, and similar to Dew the movie or My Bromance (just so you know what you are in for) but the acting is on point. When Thailand goes dark, this is how they do it, but this is rough going for baby queers because that's the darkness it is exploring. Our old thematic friends: the pain of self discovery and coming out into a homophobic environment and unfriendly reality, and the cost of being the one able (and willing) to stay in the closet.

Method (Korea 2017) this movie is a May/December actor/idol pairing, that should have been everything I wanted in life but is more about the older character cheating on his wife and their weird “artsy” relationship and frankly, I hated it. And I don’t say that lightly. Is it queer? Who tf knows, but is sure has some interesting things to say about the nature of PERFORMATIVE queerness.

Red Balloon is Taiwan's 2017 precursor BL to their biggest and most famous prestige piece Your Name Engraved Herein. If you're making a choice, choose that instead, but this series certainly paved the way for it to come into existence. Both shows tackle the pressures of culture and social structures on self acceptance and identity and the loneliness inevitably caused by conflict between the two.

(As indeed does Life Love On The Line, Present Perfect, Grey Rainbow, Tropical Night, My Sky, and many other queer meets early BL pieces that revolved around coming out and family acceptance.)

China's 3 2017 "they tried to censor the gay... and it went HORRIBLY wrong":

Honestly these 3 are basically the uncanny valley of BLs.

The Novelist AKA The Pornographer series (2018-2020). Messy psychological machinations, gaslighting, fetishization, sexual corruption, and more good times from "well, what did you expect?" Japan, but also no holds barred queer, just well and truly fucked in the head (and arse) about it.

The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese AKA Kyuso wa Chizu no Yume wo Miru (Japan 2020) - Drama llama queers so queer and so dramatic it's like Japan is trying to PROVE something: obsession, cheating, break-up, reunion, then break up again, all of it explicit. This show is just SO JAPANESE. I can't even, but you should watch it and you'll know exactly what I mean. Something like My Personal Weatherman owes it's lineage to this kind of BL. If you like Japan naked, boney, emo, and smoking (hot & ciggy) you will love this, and should watch it. It's objectively amazing, I can't stand it, but I NEED people to talk about it more.

That's an interesting question. Short answer is, no. Not aware of anything that compares.

Tumblr had some amazing literature blogs back in 2014, when I joined. When Tumblr imposed censorship four years later, I left. Though mine was not a porn blog by any means. I just hate censorship, you know... Anyways, I returned in late 2020.

How to Use A03 if you're used to Algorithm Fed Content: A kind primer.

There's a post making the rounds where someone, I'm going to assume earnestly, asks the question, "How do people figure out what's good to read on AO3?" And predictably, while there have been some people trying to answer that question assuming that it's being asked in good faith, there have been some people ridiculing this person. Basically, spewing out the fandom equivalent of "git gud noob." Like I said... I'm assuming this person was asking out of actual ignorance and curiosity, mostly because I see a lot of people also lamenting the fact that algorithm-fed apps and fandom spaces are creating a generation of fans who don't know how to actively search for and curate the content they consume. So when they get on a place like AO3 or even Tumblr to an extent, they don't know how to find the things they want and how to curate their experience. And so I guess that's why I pulled up short when this person's question has been getting so much snark. Here's a teachable moment. Even if they are being a troll in this case (which I doubt) here's the chance to give the facts on how AO3 works so they can use this amazing archive themselves. And not just them but anyone who happens upon the post. So... I'm not an AO3 whiz by any means. I don't spend a lot of time digging around in the tags and tools and bells and whistles of the search engine. If someone else wants to reblog with some tips there, go for it. It's the best thing about AO3 in my opinion... other than the lack of censorship. But here's my tips on how to find something you'll like. This is pretty much what I do.

-Go to your fandom of choice's tag. Filter for the rating you want (Teen, Explicit, etc), and then just start scrolling. Take a peek at things that sound interesting from the tags or summaries. You might have to scroll for a bit, and you might hit some stuff that's not for you, but you'll find something eventually. Especially if it's a bigger fandom like SPN, MCU, Hannibal, or Critical Role. -If you discover/know that there's something that bothers you (unfinished work, ABO dynamics, whatever) you can filter for those tags! This is how you curate your experience. It's an active process and there are no shadow-bans or anything in place to keep sensitive content corralled into a certain area. There's a rating system, and there's tags, but nothing to actually make those mean anything unless the user blocks them. While it takes more thought than mindless scrolling, you get to play a role in actively searching out new things for yourself that an algorithm might gloss over. -Likewise, if there's something you really like or are in the mood for, search for that tag in particular. Fluff, Hurt/Comfort, Coffee Shop AU... whatever your jam is. -Be careful using metrics like views, comments, and kudos as benchmarks. They fluctuate wildly by pairing, and from fandom to fandom, and are heavily influenced by date of publishing. And just because the majority of people like something, doesn't mean it's for you. If something sounds interesting... read a few paragraphs and see what's up! -Check out the Collections page under the "Browse" tabs. Often these are curated lists either from individual fans or from fanfic writing events like Big Bangs, Zines, and gift exchanges. Fanfic events like these often attract pretty experienced writers so not only is the quality likely to be very good, it's also likely to have some pretty prolific authors -When you find an author you like, and have read your fill of their offerings, see what they have bookmarked or what collections their works are in. You might find some similarly interesting stuff. It's also worth seeing if they have a blog or other social media listed on their about page. They might post some links there or be part of communities elsewhere on the internet that can open up new search avenues for you. -Don't be afraid to read old stuff. Fandoms change and evolve. There's a golden age of MCU fanfic in the 2010s that's just unlike anything else. And the Hannibal fandom has been and always will be a trip, but man it's been a wild ride through some interesting places and obsessions. -And lastly... for the love of god, comment on old stuff. It's not creepy or weird. In fact, if you like someone's writing who hasn't written in a bit, leave them a nice comment. There's this magical thing that happens when you do. Sometimes... THEY START WRITING AGAIN! (saying this from experience here.) Remember... the A in AO3 stands for Archive. It's not a social media platform. It's a library. There is -supposed- to be old stuff there. And you are absolutely allowed to read it and enjoy it and tell the author that. In fact... please do. As I said, feel free to add on if you want to give tips of your own. But be kind. I see a lot of talk about how algorithms are changing the face of fandom and how people interact with fan made content. Let's reach out and educate instead of ridicule.

Is anybody here?

It's been years since I used tumblr for the last time and I noticed my blog was and still being so popular here. I started this as a secondary blog for compiling and sharing images that I found useful for doing props. I'm not a graphic designer although I have basic notions.

I leaved that for many reasons:

- First of all, discovering Wizardry Workshop on YouTube (then known as Muggle Magic). I saw the amazing job Danny did with the Chocolate Card printables. His channel and works grew in popularity and quality and, as a fan, he does everything I need for doing crafts. Continuing compiling pngs and jpgs and doing very basic edits became nonsense while having his amazing work avaliable.

- I compiled a lot of stuff and finding new ones began to be harder.

- I was really disgusted by Tumblr's the new politics and UX: censorship, ads, payment functions...

- There was less content related to the Fantastic Beasts franchise and, sadly it was not the same and I didn't like it as much as the main saga. On the other hand, Wizardry Workshop has amazing material and tutorials.

- College, adulthood and health in general.

My love with HP graphic design started in the middle 2000s when I was little and making little crafts with designs made by people on deviantart or myself in paint was a way for feeling this amazing world more real and feeling part of it.

I saw some messages and comments asking for some content and also selling props. I'm sorry for never answering the requests and I'm so thankful for the positive feedback. Although it was never the purpose of this blog selling anything and it's illegal as I'm not the original designer nor related to Minalima or WB. By the contrary, if I ever had an intention, it was promoting the DIY culture by making it easier to have accurate resources as it was so hard to find screen accurate content.

Hi Skippy & Friends-This is Pilgrim checking in via another's site. It has taken me days to find a way to get thru to all of you! As you know, I don't have an account on this platform. I only submitted to you via the submit a post button. Skippy, you have been so generous all these years, curating my submissions and letting them be seen here. Along the trail, we have had some interesting revelations as well as tons of fun in the art room. Last week I had a little something I tried to submit as usual, until I bumped into the NEW rules. No one is allowed to accept an ask or post from an anon that is NOT a member on the platform. See that Whoa note saying log in or sign up...that is a big blocking wall. I just have to wonder why this new rule has been implemented here, especially since many are complaining that their posts on major Youtuber sites are not posted or disappear. People are asking very deep questions now and those with solid info are being removed IMHO. Now, I really do believe there is a creeping censorship sifting down to our little pipsqueak level. I wonder if those that run this company are connected somehow to the big chart that TRG has been making...hmmm.

Of course, I visit your site daily and have just seen your stormy message also noticing a difference here. You are right to ask what is going on! This has hit me as a personal sign. It is time to retire to the sidelines and let the many much bigger sites continue the fight for truth concerning the con artist grifter from west LA that has scaled the castle walls with her claws. My dear friend, I am so sorry to see this. It did manage to make it into my asks. I don’t know why Tumblr is doing that, I suspect a glitch. We do have the option of only taking asks, etc with people only in Tumblr. I did a double check and I still show available to everyone. We go through many difficulties here. I still don’t have a functioning “like” button, I still don’t get notification when I get a private message. Others on here have different difficulties. So, I think that is the problem you have been faced with. I certainly understand dealing with frustration at the whole thing though. I think that is great you will focus on your art. You are amazing, and you should follow your gift…even if it’s not with us. I do get comfort knowing that you will still be around, even if I don’t see you! I thank you so much for all your much appreciated contributions. You have added so much to this blog, and have entertained us all the time. i think i'm the happiest i've ever been. i feel safe at home

i'm finally living in a decent neighborhood, i feel safe at home, there's always food in the fridge, i have a cat, i'm medicated, trying to finish school and i live with my love. i couldn't ask for more (maybe just mental stability lol) i don't ever want to take this for granted because i was so miserable in my early to mid 20s.

it's not that i don't appreciate what my parents did for me when i was a kid, but i never truly felt safe there. and once i ran away home, i had to work my butt off to save money and get out of that situation. i was really miserable and but at least i felt safer being out there than being with my parents. there were so many people who helped me out of their good hearts, even if there was nothing in them for helping me. i never forgot about them and i hope i can find them again to thank them..

participating in fandoms, daydreaming, and playing videogames got me coping thru that too. i think i would have went raving mad without it. thanks to all those people back then who produced amazing ghoul fucker fanfics LOL i kinda miss the pre-censorship tumblr

once i graduate, i'll get a better job . at least that makes me feel better. i don't ever want to go back to that state and you never knkw, but i'll know what to do once i experience it again. that makes me feel a bit better.

From what I'm seeing here, and this is just an outside observation and not a verified fact, but it appears anyone commending on the predstrogen/predesterone/avewy issue, largely making independant blog posts in solidarity and support of the banned account are having those posts flagged, taken down, or made unrebloggable. Given I made a post on this a few hours ago which you can see below with the link (maybe), we'll see how long mine lasts.

There are people documenting this, taking screenshots, and saving responses. I'm not sure how far Tumblr staff will take this, but it appears the choice for the moment is to go nuclear. If my above linked post gets reviewed and terminated, and likely this one will too if that's the case, then I might just have to have a discussion about where I'm going to take my online presence given the stance the CEO of Tumblr is taking on how transgender users on this site are allowed to be treated, which summed up is: as verbal punching bags who have no choice but to take threats of violence, abuse, harassment, and stalking from bigots or risk having your account deleted for speaking up. There are a lot of cool people on Tumblr, some fantastic history, and an amazing supportive community, don't get me wrong. But there's no reason all of that can't exist elsewhere if the Terms of Service are only going to upheld against trans people and bigots are afforded perfect immunity.

It was shit like this, that made me choose Tumblr over Reddit and Twitter. I will 100% delete my account and move elsewhere if I'm unwanted because of my gender identity. If I have to exist solely on Ko-Fi, Youtube, and Twitch. I will. Not even lying here, I will make a wholesome OnlyFans account to repost or remake my blog posts there if there's no other option. Over 1000 of you who've taken an invested interest in my ramblings and impassioned statements, if I'm not wanted on Tumblr, I won't disappear on you. You may just have to see me post elsewhere. I'll let you cross-post (with correct citations of the source (ie a link to the page on the site I made it)) wherever you are. If it comes to it I'll delete my biggest posts (which frighteningly have reached way more people than I ever expected (how did I manage to be seen by 30k of you?!)) and make them elsewhere because I won't be a part of the engagement cycle on a platform that doesn't want people like me.

This isn't a threat, just a statement of the terms for me electing to be here. I will go where I and people like me, are wanted, and right now, I'm not feeling very wanted given the circumstances leading up to the actions taken by staff, the actions and inaction taken by staff, and the resulting handling of the situation after as a whole (libel, misinformation, and censorship).
