So if you haven’t seen, I started a blog series called Building a Portfolio with $150. It’s a journey to see if an untrained investor can turn $150 into real money. So far in the first month the fund is up 19.8%. As long as this fund stays above banking interest rates, it’s a win. The goal is to get a minimum 5% return on every pick I make. There is an audio version to that can be found within the blog or at anchor.fm/colin-Can-help Check it out and let’s make money together! #investing #colincanhelp #buildingaportfoliowith150 #stocks #invest #investment #investor #robinhoodapp #stockstrader #stocktrader #amateurinvestor #blog #blogger #marketing #smallbusiness #brokepeople #richpeople https://www.instagram.com/p/Bs-2G5jgTgx/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=ixndi9hbep5q

Started from the bottom now we're here...
Any time my wife and I make a purchase that is considered an upgrade (i.e. crappy Walmart blender was replaced for an awesome Ninja blender) this Drake lyric somehow finds a way to enter our minds and unfortunately our mouths, in the whitest way possible.
Like many others we started from basically nothing. Our first place together was in a house with 3 other guys. 4 of us had to share a bathroom, kitchen and living space... this living situation did not last long. About a month later, we found a tiny 1 bedroom apartment, approximately 500sqft but we were the happiest people on earth. We had a place to call our own ("started from the bottom now were here" moment).
I was making a whopping 32k/year and she was still job hunting. I had a relatively small student loan (under 10k) that needed to be paid off and fortunately, she was debt-free (her college education in Europe was FREE).
Fast-forward 6-months, Wifey finds a great job, I receive a promotion and raise and suddenly we have a gross income of 6 figures (another "started from the bottom" moment).  We made it! We should be so happy that we are RICH, right?
WRONG, not even close. I realized that even though we can live a comfortable life with our current jobs, we can never have financial freedom this way.
Comfort vs. Freedom
We are in our mid 20's, no children (yet), pretty average people just looking for a way to acheive financial peace.
Our 3 Goals for 2015 in achieving financial freedom:
1) Max out Roth IRA, increase 401k contributions
2) Create Passive income
3) Learn, learn, learn about the stock market and various investments
What do you think? How did you achieve financial freedom?
