Soundtrack of life

My mind has clearly been on music recently so going to hold onto that thread. I'm one of those people that is not opposed to put a song on repeat if it resonates with my soul and emotions at the time of my life. I admitted it. I listen to songs on repeat!! So let's go a little down repeat song alley. This was a big one for awhile and I think every parents can relate to.

It's being a middle age parent in a perfect opening song. There are a couple of other songs in the musical that gut me as a parent, but this one is the hopeful one that I had on repeat for awhile so we're going to end our Even Hansen streak.

This one was probably the most recent song on repeat. It was a Spotify suggestion that I just latched onto. It was actually amazingly popular and up for a grammy but I'd never hear it. It's dark and romantic like me - part of me thinks thinks too much like me - moving right along.

The one that comes to mind next is this one.

Love me some Lizzo - her lyrics are always amazing. The line that resonates most with me and I"m sure I'm not alone on this is " How am I supposed to loves somebody else? When I don't like myself" It makes me think about how important self care for you to care and love for the people that are important in your life. In our culture that values individualism over community in so many ways, it's not surprising that selfcare is such a struggle. But from everything we know about the way humans and relationships work, the better you are able to take care of yourself, the more capable you are of love, empathy - it can't be taking care of yourself for your own ends - but taking care of yourself so you have the energy to care about others. I use this app headspace and they have this night time meditation and one of my favorite is a breathing exercise that asks you to breathe in love and care for yourself and then on exhale breathe out thinking about someone you love and care for. If you never take that breath in you can never take that breath out for another.

What drives me even more insane about this scene is how you'd expect Gojo to imagine High school era! Geto in the crowd. Or at least not the cult leader, worst of all the curse users Geto Suguru. But no, it's the cult leader Geto. It's Geto as Gojo last remembered him. As Geto last was. Whatever choices Geto made, wherever his choices led him and them, however he was, whoever he was, traumas and messed up ideas and bad choices and ill reputations and scorns and all. Gojo wanted Geto Suguru there. Not any ideal version. Not any "what if" version. Not any "at some point in time before things went downhill" version. Not any "when your hands weren't stained with innocent blood" version. He knew very well what he wanted. And he wanted it all the same. He wanted Geto Suguru. However he was. He just wanted him to be there. He just wanted him to be.

And he didn't want him to help him, he didn't want him to fight with him even if they were strongest together and always fought together for a while. He just wanted him to be there in the crowd and cheer him on. He just wanted him to stand there and give him one of his sweet, heartwarming smiles that shaped his eyes into crescent moons. He just wanted him to be. Then even if Gojo had died in the end anyway, he would have been satisfied. It would have been worth it. Only if Geto was there.
