HP Next Generation Appreciation Week - Day 5: Beach AU

Hello! This is my entry for the final day of @endlessly-cursed's HP next gen appreciation week! On this one, we're invited to share an idea of how a visit to the beach would go for our OCs!

Now Brian would love to spend a day on the beach! His favorite activity could be to play volleyball, tennis or badminton with friends. The kiddo likes the soft, loose texture of the sand. Nothing is better than cooling off in the wave on the hottest days, and he finds listening to the cries of the seagulls while lying on a mat on lounger relaxing. Maybe he'll also watch the horizon and see if he can catch a ship, sailboat, or even a plane or helicopter. Brian never saw himself as being a surfer, but he admires the sport.

The best time for him to go would be the later afternoon when the skies have the best potential to be beautiful and the temperature a little cooler. Brian's both adventurous and relaxed. He's ready to catch and enjoy the rushing feeling of the ocean breeze. It could be happening while he's reading a book or studying a map. And of course, he wouldn't hesitate to invite his dear Alyssa @mjs-oc-corner

“Lyss, c’mon. We’ll be late for class if you keep reading about the constellations and planets.” Brian leaned against the sturdy bookshelf. He knew that his girlfriend would stay in the library all day and miss class if he’d let her.

“Just one more page, please?” Alyssa looked up from the page with a smile, one that she knew would get Brian to cave and let her read a little more.

“Alright.” Brian slid the bookmark from his back pocket across the table to her, a smirk on his face, as he knew he’d lost, “one more page and then we’re off to class. There’s no way I’m leaving you behind.”

“Deal. I get one more page and then you won’t have to worry about finding something else other than me or the subject to focus on during history of magic.” Alyssa gave a coy smirk, her eyes diverting back to the page she was reading.

HP Next Generation Appreciation Week - Day 3: Favorite Ship

Hi everyone! For the third day of @endlessly-cursed's HP Next Gen appreciation week event, the prompt is to explain an OC ship you're a part of that you consider your favorite. For me, it was difficult and took a long time for me to settle on an OC ship for Brian, but the search finally concluded when my dear friend @clovermunson/@mjs-oc-corner came along with the amazing Alyssa Lockwood. Their ship isn't strictly the only one I have for Brian, but it's the main one I have for him.

Brian x Alyssa or Alybri, is a very wholesome Ravenclaw x Ravenclaw ship. I've collaborated with Mo to establish some sweet little interactions for them. Whenever Alyssa looses track of time, Brian may come along and remind her to break from her book assignments for a little while to get some fresh air and have fun. They enjoy getting each other gifts once in a while. I can’t go without mentioning their adorable pets, her cat Star and his owl Archimedes. 🐈🦉 There's lots of little things that make their story magical and my favorite part about Alybri is how they seem to compliment each other in many ways 🥺💙💙

Alyssa doesn’t go beyond a hug or some words of affirmation when it comes to showing affections with a friend or family member.

when it comes to showing affection towards Brian (@catohphm), she’s more apt to show romantic gestures, such as a hug and/or a kiss, as well as hand-holding and her personal favorite, wrapping her arm around his and resting her head on his arm/shoulder. she also expresses her affection for Brian through words of affirmation, gift-giving, and acts of service.

Alyssa tries to find a balance between physical and emotional, but sometimes she’s much better at physically showing her feelings as opposed to showing them through her words.

Summary: An AU based on the show New Girl (my favorite can you tell?) Just a collection of one-shots and shenanigans that allude to the show. This will NOT be canon, that means this won’t be in Cordonia and Liam isn’t a King. If you have watched the show before, you know they are in Los Angeles, California. Just a little background info, Liam and Ella are dating, Max, Drake and Leo are single and they all live together in The Loft.

“Julia, sweetie, I don’t want space, okay? I don’t want anyone to have space. I want to be standing right in front of you. I want the air that you breathe to be the air coming directly from out of my mouth. I want to just be passing air back and forth between each other until it’s mostly carbon dioxide and then we both pass out and die,” Max was hyperventilating while clutching the cell phone against his ear. “Call me back okay?”

Liam stood against the kitchen counter with a concerned look on his face. “What is wrong with you, Max? You’re spewing some crazy shit.”

Max dropped his phone onto the kitchen island and laid his forehead onto it. “Is there a hot way of saying I don’t feel sexy after eating a lot of cheese?”

“Uh, no … no there isn’t,” Liam squeezed his friend’s shoulder and pushed him up off the island. “Never ever say that again. Now what’s going on?”

“I told Julia I wanted some space,” Max slid off the barstool and rummaged in the refrigerator. Seconds later, he pulled out a whole pie. “I have no idea why.”

“You literally just asked her to be your girlfriend.”

“I know,” Max scooped out a spoonful of pie and shoved it in his mouth.

Ella, Leo and Drake walked into the kitchen and began to prepare their morning coffee.

Drake gave a scrutinizing look at Maxwell in the corner of the room. “Are you eating that entire pie?”

Max nodded. “Yeah. Who do I have to watch my figure for? Nobody.”

Leo rolled his eyes. “Oh my God, did you watch Bridget Jones again?”

“Why can’t you guys be more supportive?!” Max wailed with a mouth full of apple pie.

“Okay fine, I have an idea. We need a bro thing,” Leo gestured for everyone to follow him.

The guys ended up at a high-end spa.

“I love this,” Leo clapped his hands. “We’re having a spa day!”

“It’s great,” Liam furrowed his brows as he looked at his friend. “Max, did you wear a shirt to your massage?”

“Yeah, I did but no bottoms,” Max lay his head back against the back of the couch. “It was liberating.”

“Good for you, man,” Drake gave him a thumbs up.

Max picked up two pieces of cucumbers from the coffee table in front of him. “Nice these cucumbers are gratis! I’m gonna make some pickles.”

Leo cackled. “If you’re excited about some free cucumbers, get ready to have your mind blown. I signed us up for the Elite Package.”

“What’s that mean? Are the pickles already pickled?”

The spa attendant with the name Brian on his nametag greeted them with a smile. “Alright, gentlemen, if you’re ready, I can take you to your brazilians.”

Drake’s eyes widened. “Oh! Wow. Uh, well I’m in a relationship actually. But thank you for the offer.”

“We would love to look though!” Max hollered.

Brian frowned. “Sir, the Elite Package includes the waxing of hair from your ... nether regions.”

Max stared. “What’d you say?”

“Scrotum wax,” Brian whispered.

Drake, Liam and Max all turned to stare at the eldest Rys brother.

Liam shook his head. “No, Leo, no you didn’t do this. Did you?”

“Say you didn’t do this,” Drake rubbed his forehead in frustration.

Leo waved to Brian. “We’ll be right there.” Once the attendant was out of earshot, he turned to the group. “Okay so I did, but I didn’t know they did that in the package.”

“So what’s the plan? I can’t do any of this,” Drake waved his arms around.

“You’re being really dramatic right now, Walker!”

“I’m not being dramatic! I don’t think this is drama at all! Listen, I don’t want the hair ripped off of my testicles by a stranger. I think they’re there for a reason, Rys!” Drake whisper yelled.

“They’re trained professionals,” Leo argued. “This isn’t some back alley sac waxing.”

“THEY HAVE THOSE?!”

Leo shrugged. “I’m sure they do. But this isn’t one of them.”

“Who would go to one of those?” Liam asked.

“Well sometimes in an emergency-”

Drake stood quickly from his chair. “What would the emergency ever be?”

Maxwell waved his arms in the air to get everyone’s attention. “Guys, I have off the chart follicle strength okay? It’s going to be a bloody mess down there. So I’m gonna say no.”

“You guys don’t have to leave,” Leo persuaded. “Just don’t get your sack waxed.”

Drake shook his head. “Okay, I don’t care how big the park is. If there’s a loose bear in it, I'm not going in the park. I’m never going to that park again. Ever ever again!”

“Quit with the dramatics, Drake!” Max tugged his friend’s arm and pulled him back onto the chair.

30 minutes later

Liam, Leo, Drake and Maxwell all lay on separate twin mattresses that were separated by light pink curtains. Speakers hung on the walls and soft, relaxing music played throughout the room.

Maxwell broke the silence. “You know, I’ve always been curious about this but I just couldn’t admit it to you guys.”

“I think this would be much more dignified in silence,” Liam grumbled as his technician prepared the hard wax in the heated pot.

“Why am I here?” Drake turned his head to the right, where he knew Leo was stationed behind the curtain.

“Because this is our tradition, my grumpy old friend,” Leo chuckled. “We’re going to do this every month.”

Three hours later

Alyssa picked up a watery ziplock bag off of the kitchen island. “Can I throw out this watery bag of ... soggy cucumbers?”

“No!” Maxwell winced in pain. “Those are pickles in progress.”

“Okay, not to be mean, but you guys are being a bunch of babies about this,” Ella rolled her eyes as she stared at her boyfriend, his brother and her two friends writhing in pain on the couch.

“Until you’ve had your sack waxed, you can’t know this pain,” Leo retorted.

Ella’s eyes widened. “Excuse me?”

Alyssa scoffed. “Childbirth?”

“Weekly wax top to tail,” Ella smirked.

Liam raised his arm and limply brought it back down onto the couch. “I can’t even argue with that, I love the waxing, love.”

“That’s so gross, I didn’t need to hear that,” Drake sighed.

“So what, every year we do our bro thing?” Max asked weakly.

“Nah,” Leo shook his head. “It’s like every month.”

“A month?!” Max squealed.

Leo furrowed his brows. “How’s this gonna be a ritual or bro thing if we only do it once?”

“I will never go back, Leo!” Drake yelled. “You can’t make me!”
