Another quickie, on another bike ride to williamstown I found the remains of the quarantine cemetery. The first cemetery of the victorian colony. I definitely have more to find out about the story of this place and williamstown burial grounds in general. A trip to the williamstown cemetery is definitely on my todo list.

#alwaysreadtheplaque By the time we got to #Woodstock....... a few years back we did a #Catskills road trip from Sleepy Hollow to the Finger Lakes to Cooperstown and a lot inbetween. One stop was the site of Woodstock which has a big #historicmarker but if you poke around a bit you’ll also find the last bit of #YasgurFarm still owned by the family. #ontheroad #upstateny #woodstock50 #woodstock50thanniversary (at Yasgur's Farm) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1OOX7Hl4Jh/?igshid=ea0la3gguims

Time Hop to 1955 for angsty teen movies, method acting, and Rebel Without a Cause. We accidentally stumbled across the james dean memorial last year on the way back from San Fran (middle pic). This was the place where he crashed his Porche on Route 46 on his way to a car race. His death came halfway between filming his final film "Giant" so they had to complete the movie with awkward back of the head shots and doubles. I also stumbled upon the set of his final movie "Giant" when i stayed at the Menger Hotel in San Antonio two years ago (bottom pic, I never got around to putting those pics up). Moral of the story #AlwaysReadThePlaque! Since then actors contracts now limit risky behaviors during filming. #AdventuresInSpaceTime #50sFilms #JamesDean #EarlyHollywood (at Pasadena City College)

This is so far off the tourist trail, and the only reason we happened upon this odd little gem is because we were trying to find a nearby geocache. #bluemountainshistory #bluemountains #geocaching #alwaysreadtheplaque (at Springwood, New South Wales)

#AlwaysReadthePlaque “To those citizens of the United States who at the call of humanity laid aside their vocations to become soldiers in the Grand Army of Liberty. This memorial is dedicated 1918” . . . #HistoricMarker at the “Sweetheart Memorial” at #FortDevens in Ayer, MA. Established in September of 1917, the original #CampDevens served as training grounds for American soldiers mobilizing for #WorldWar1. The Sweetheart Memorial was a popular spot for couples to say goodbye before shipping out. It’s said the wall was constructed from rocks brought by wives and girlfriends from all over who made their way to see the men off. #newengland_igers #massachusetts_igers #igersnewengland #instahistory #historical #ww1 #worldwarone (at Fort Devens) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqBXnAWAv5E/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1ijjisr61ejs8
