Alvin & the Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein, 1999, USA
I’m sure many of us millennials can harken back to this late 90s film and it’s double feature, Alvin & the Chipmunks meet the Wolfman. It seems to be a nostalgic cult classic, but fairly typical for the era that it was released in. One of the more clever scenes involved the chipmunks transitioning into earlier models of themselves while frightened.

The scientist is Calvin.

Oh yeah that could work. I originally had Bunbun being in Alvin's role who drank the potion but I am fine with Blu being the one for this au. Yes Joe being Frankenstein and Calvin being the scientist fits perfectly.

One of my mutuals has been posting about the 2 direct-to-video Alvin and the Chipmunks “monster” movies lately, so I went back and listened to the songs from the Frankenstein movie (I owned that one on VHS as a kid, so I watched that more often than the Wolfman movie, which I still like), and the nostalgia hit pretty hard, especially with this song:
