Imagine Charlie surviving till s3, finds out about the swap and rescues our Liv with Peter. After Olivia comes back he meets Peter at work and tells him to be good to Olivia as Charlie knows how deep Olivia is invested in one who she loves and especially in Peter, and also how her previous relationship(s) fail. He doesn't know Peter well enough so he wants to make sure.

Seriously though 😭 I've thought about this so often, about how different things would have been if Charlie had still been alive during season 3, especially since his alternate on the other side was the first to go all suspicious during the Switch and actively questioned Olivia trying to find out if they'd been swapped. I can definitely see him going all 'big brother' on Peter to make sure he'll treat Olivia like the queen that she is 😭

i’m going feral over the fact that this can apply to both olivia and altliv 😭😭😭
so obviously they experienced very different trauma, but what also makes it so very interesting is how differently the two of them express themselves (...as a result?)
a lot, of course, can be (and has been) said about how olivia's childhood trauma affected her, but circa the same time atliv's whole world literally started dying. it's the apocalypse. it’s become a world with a deadline. it's like living with climate anxiety but a thousand times worse.
and it has to have impacted her in some profound way as she grew up for her to want to work in the fringe division. like. that job is a LOT to handle. you’re willfully confronting the breaches in your reality every single day. and just hoping for the best. they're playing whack-a-mole with impending doom on the daily, and they're SO OKAY with dying on the job it's absolutely bone-chilling.
we literally see it the first time we get to the altverse in 2x22:
00:58 just says SO much about her character. her first response to possibly dying within the next minute is to joke about it.
worldviews and morals in general work differently Over There... but there's something about her specific brand of coping mechanism that hits so hard. she's "quicker with a smile" (ugh) because that's her instinctive response to everything. her humour is her armour. it's how she keeps any other emotion from bubbling up. for all the talk about how she's more "emotionally open" than our olivia... it's really just a different front. that woman doesn't actually take time to process any of her emotions. it's WHY she's able to plunge straight into things (almost) without a second thought, from taking over olivia's life at a moment's notice in 2x23, to leaving henry with lincoln in 3x20. that's not even going into how she just... bounces back from the whole ordeal she went through while giving birth to henry.
altliv is "ruthless" because her world needs her to be. and the way they BOTH take on the survival of their entire world like it's their responsibility and theirs only, yet how differently that manifested in them... literally two sides of the same fucking coin. it's the most interesting way of doing character study ever and i love the show for it.
what makes her such an interesting character is that she is a competent and intelligent adult woman whose worldview was hard set at 9 years old. most of her major decisions are based on the logic of a traumatized child. she can't outgrow it because she doesn't even know she's doing it.

Had a whole rant prepared about how Fringe glossed over the fact that Etta is the product of two universes and how that’s a huge deal. But then I remembered…she’s not the only one. And I know a lot of people are real salty about Lincoln and Altliv—no harm, no shade—but them ending up together and having a child was literally a perfect balance to the universes. So, personally, I think it made a lot of sense and was the best decision given the rules the show established. Also, I really like Altliv and Linc—[shots fired]

similar vibes to how in season 2 it's so hard and dangerous to create doors between universes and cross over, but then later on, some of them blink and poof poof, they cross over--and i don't mean olivia and her magic powers
I love how in season 1, going into the tank is “the most dangerous thing you can do”, but later on, Olivia enters the tank every other episode.

I might be doing too much but I do not get why people love saying that they pretend the Peter/fauxlivia “relationship” scenes are actually Peter and Olivia. It doesn’t make any sense to me.
Sure, it could be because, knowing the abuse Peter was suffering, I cannot stomach those scenes. But even if you ignore that, Peter wasn’t acting like himself.
Their whole relationship was made of Peter going out of his way to try and make her happy because (obviously) she didn’t like him as much as expected. Bringing her breakfast in bed, buying her concert tickets, taking her to fancy restaurants, walking back to the coffee shop twice because he got her order wrong and, according to him, the little details are what make him irresistible. He put in all that effort and in the end it didn’t matter, because she didn’t want to be with him.
Their relationship was screaming ‘people who are still getting to know each other and are awkward’ instead of the ‘best friends who have been through hell together and know each other more than anyone else in the world’ kind of relationship that Peter and Olivia were supposed to have.
The contrast between Peter and Olivia’s actual relationship and the one he had with her alternate is so incredibly deep I can’t really believe people enjoyed the scenes between Peter and fauxlivia.
Peter and Olivia had a Friday night routine. They ordered takeout and watched bad movies together, while Peter took fauxlivia to fancy restaurants. Olivia happily slept on Peter’s tiny bed in a house he shared with Walter because what mattered to her was that she was with him.
Olivia woke up one morning and had to walk in on Walter naked and when she brought it up to Peter she still said she could get used to waking up next to him every morning, even with Walter being a pain, because she loves him and she wants to be around him.
Sure, Peter and Olivia didn’t get a dance scene or make out scenes but they had scenes that showed that Peter felt loved enough by Olivia that he didn’t feel the need to be someone he wasn’t just to appeal to her. And in the end that matters way more than whatever new relationship bs Peter and Altliv had going on ❤️
