Get yourself a partner who loves your nonhuman features and will give you nice chin scritches, appreciate all of your floof, and understand that head bonks mean you want to be pet.

Not exclusively therian here, but we have, and we opted to buy the claw-tips separately specifically so we can attach them to other things. We hot-glued them onto regular black gloves and then layered green striped gloves over them so that a few of our fictives could have hands closer to their own for a bit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The top glove being a fingerless detachable one is great because it means we can switch out "arm" colours for different people who would prefer something else.
Tumblr media
The claws are durable so don't worry about breaking them. You might need a phone stylus to use your phone and then learn how to use one without your fingertips but we've gotten okay at it since wearing them occasionally.
Very good for dysphoria relief in our experience!
have therians discovered these digging gloves yet
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i feel like they’d like them……
therians what are your thoughts

We get that not everyone is able to, but we're taking a lot of joy in being more openly alterhuman. Years ago, we couldn't even talk about being trans to anyone in our IRL circles--which is a big enough issue as it is. But we've gained more confidence through IRL advocacy and social groups and so much more... We've really come a long way in being confident in ourselves and talking to people even just generally. And we're noticing a change in how we present, and what we wear and do.
We openly wear alterhuman symbols--we have an otherkin star necklace we wear any time we go outside. We have a therian sticker on our phone case and plan on more. We are planning on decorating our cane with stickers of our identities and things important to us. We want plural rings or an ampersand to wear in some way. And really, it's getting so much easier to talk about around people IRL, even if just symbols are subtle. It's euphoric to know that we're representing ourselves in an "if you know you know" way, and hell, we've met other alterhumans IRL before. Maybe someone will see these symbols and feel safer even if they don't talk to us directly.
We know we're lucky to have friends we can be safe around IRL, and so we can keep being who we are publicly without much of a safety concern. We hope that one day every alterhuman can just do whatever they want without fear of harrassment from people who hate "furries", people using transphobia against us, or alterhumisia in general.

Nonhumanity Induced Gender Euphoria
Having nonhuman features as a trans person can be so gender affirming, even if complicated in my case. I might be in an AFAB human body, but I'm clearly a male cardinal because my feathers are bright red in headspace. This might not apply to all trans nonhumans of course, but I'm talking about personal experience here.
See, I'm a multifictive of two characters. One is an (arguably non)human-esque guy (Hunter), another is a little red cardinal (Flapjack). I'm in a way, a fusion of both, while having memories of being both separately as well. Not canon to my source, but we became one in our memories.
From my memories of me being Hunter, I was transmasc. I wasn't born as a guy, so I did my best to transition. Complications of circumstances aside, I presented as masculine and overall it was okay. Dysphoria was a bitch but I was managing as best I could with all the other stressors going on in my life.
As Flapjack, I was male and cis. While I was just a bird, I was a magic bird, and one with a different level of thinking and capabilities. I didn't question my gender at all, I was comfortable. I don't think I paid much mind to Hunter's either, if I even knew back then that he/I was not cis.
After we became one person in source... Well, I kept my humanoid form but grew red feathers all over my body, as well as claws, a tail and wings too. My humanoid gender features that I had already didn't change, but I gained the distinctive red feathers of a male cardinal. While that might have made my biological gender more complex, it made me as a whole feel euphoria anyway.
I still feel it here too. Even if I have the same body in headspace and even if my physical body is AFAB again, I still have my red feathers inside. I don't identify wholly as a man and am more xenogender than anything, but I enjoy feeling more masculine and being able to present that way.
I'm not the only one who feels gender euphoria from their kintypes/other nonhuman identities though. It's not the most common thing within our system but it's something we experience enough that it does impact us and how we feel.
A lot of people who have antlers feel validated in their masculine identity, for one big example. Obviously antlers meaning a thing is male depends on the species but for the purpose of feeling euphoria, it doesn't matter too much if you're not sure if you even fit any earthen species.
Some of us feel more validated by being spikier or fluffier or having certain colours or patterns. Things that aren't really applicable to human concepts of gender. Being nonhuman for some people means that they have many more ways to express their gender, and I think that's wonderful.

The creature-esque feelings that come from cracking open walnuts with simple tools... Like yes give me that spoon I'm about to go feral. It might not be my beak but I sure as hell don't need a nutcracker.

We got a pendant of the otherkin symbol and put it together on some spare chain we had lying around! It's nice to have one of these finally--we've been looking for pendants of alterhuman symbols for quite some time now.

hi! for the plural ask game, 14 and/or 4?
Hey! These are from this ask game.
4. What is your collective/most prominent identity?
Honestly, "alterhuman" or even "nonhuman" are great descriptors that we feel sum us up pretty well. If you asked us what we were, "a creature" would probably work for all of us.
But as for more specific things... Hunter from The Owl House is our primary kintype and we all are him on some level. I mean, it's to the point our name is Hunter so that tells you something, haha.
14. What gives you euphoria about being plural?
Being recognised as who we are. Not necessarily sources, but just.. Being out and about as plural and having people go "oh, you're x headmate!" without having to be told who is fronting. The fact that people can pick up on body language before we even say anything and know which one of us they're about to speak to? Amazing. And so, so validating.
Thank you for the ask!

Honestly we're looking into getting more species-affirming clothing and accessories. Not just obvious gear either. Tails and ears can be good, but... It's so nice to be able to wear colours that remind you of your fur/feathers/scales/skin or jewellery with something reminiscent of who you really are on it.
We ended up getting some paw socks that have cartoon cat paws on them and honestly? The markings themselves feel so much more creature than our human feet, even though we're not all cats or even things with paws.
Wearing fingerless gloves makes us feel like we have different markings on our hands which is species affirming for a lot of people in here.
Even just wearing a simple red unzipped jacket with a black shirt underneath makes Merlin feel so much more like he has his cardinal feathers.
We really underestimated the joy that species affirming clothing can give, even if it's not quite you or not quite accurate. Even if it's just regular clothes hiding human features. Even if it's regular clothes in the right colours. Anything closer to our actual individual bodies feels so much better.
