Wanna give some love to a mangaka that I don't think gets enough credit. Kyoutarou Azuma artist for series like Tenkaichi and Versus as well as the adaptation of King of Fighters. He can make some heart pumping action and cool visuals.

For me, seeing all of these different manga series from Monthly Shonen Sirius all together in this dynamic layout with their personality shining through in a unifying art style makes me confident in saying Kyoutarou Azuma is up there with guys like Murata and Horikoshi in their artistic skill when they do stuff like this.

Unlike his father, who tended to be angry and emotional, Beyazid II was a gentle and forgiving person. Although he had a personal grudge against the Stratocracy, he eventually forgave all Pashas from the Halil Faction after ascending the throne. Beyazid maintained the stratocracy divan system with a new model of Dîvân-ı Hümâyun, or Imperial Council. Pashas from the former Halil Faction even received important positions, one of which was to become a mentor or lala for his sons; Kundaracu Dawud served as lala for Sehzade Korkud. Orman Yusuf was lala for Sehzade Ahmed, and Gokhan was lala for Selim. Mimar Zeki, the youngest, was actually the closest person to the Sultan who was trusted in matters of construction and architecture and who worked together with Mimar Hayrettin.
However, especially for his son Selim (later known as Selim the Grim or Yavuz Sultan Selim), he did not accept his father's attitude. He dared to kill Gokhan through false accusations in Trebizond (Selim served as Beylerbey there) in 82 CTR because he still could not forgive the behavior of the Stratocracy towards his family. Clearly, any former Stratocracy faction did not dare to do anything, even including Zaganos and Mahmud themselves. except to only adjust to the policies of the sultan. Because in this early era there were no internal political factions of interest, after the birth of the Ottoman Empire, there were no more pro-war and anti-war factions (because all state policies entering this era were indeed intended for war), and there were no more pro-autocracy and pro-parliamentary factions (because the state itself was already an absolute monarchy). differences of opinion were limited to each individual who did not form a political faction. new factional divisions emerged along with the rise of the Safavid Empire, the threat of Shia, and the emergence of the crisis of the throne in Constantinople, at the end of the Bayazid II era. later most of the Halil faction died due to disease and age before the incident, Except Mahmud and Zaganos itself.
former Halil Faction who got the most important position in the era of Beyazid II. Most died before 87 CTR. due to disease and age factors (except for Gokhan, who died because of the conspiracy of Sehzade Yavuz Selim).
Selim as sehzade, 16th Century miniature.

if you liked vinland saga, you should really be checking out altair: a record of battles. it's more political (like canute pov style) but also tackles how glory blinds people and the mc wanting to avoid war and violence

The Treaty of Edirne was signed on 14, Raki, 80 CTR, which officially ended the 4-year Balt-RRhain Turkiye war. The Balt Rhain were forced to cede most of their territory in Rhain and Balt to the Turks. and recognized the Turkish conquest of Vessel Island and Crete. The Empire was also forced to pay an annual tribute to the Stratocracy of around 50 or 60 thousand ducats each year as a guarantee of security from the threat of the Hungarian Kingdom. The Balt Rhain practically became a Turkish Vassal (which later transformed into the Ottoman Empire) until it was annexed by the Hungarian Kingdom, ending the fate of their empire.
The defeat of the Balt Rhain and its crusader allies in the Battle of the Anata Valley paralyzed all Balt Rhain resistance efforts against the Turkish invasion. The Turks conquered major cities in Rhain such as Bitola, Ohrid, Skhodra, Kruje, and Nis. The Turkish troops were getting closer until Ishaq Pasha's troops were able to conquer Beit Leh and Montzferrat, which were only 25 KM from St. . Michael. The battle was stopped for a moment when Ishaq Pasha received an Imperial envoy, asking for peace negotiations.
The defeat at Arch also caused political turmoil in the palace of St. Michael, as well as the loss of confidence in the policies of Louis' stubborn ministers. At the urging of the dukes, King Goldebalt IX dismissed Minister Louis and replaced him with Siegfried Kaufmann. Realizing that his fate would soon end, Louis decided to flee to the Kingdom of Hungary. However, he was captured by the imperial guard and thrown into prison. He died 10 days after the signing of the Treaty of Edirne. Probably because of poisoning.
The agreement offered by Balt Rhain was accepted by the Divan. In this case, King Goldebalt and the new Prime Minister, Sigfried Kaufmann, went directly to the capital of Turkey to sign the agreement. Under the direction of Zaganos Pasha, negotiations were held in Edirne (the capital of the old Ottoman Empire). The agreement was attended on the Turkiye side by Buyuk Pasha and Zaganos Pasha and on the Balt Rhain side by Siegfried and the king.
Zaganos made demands in the agreement clauses, namely the surrender of the Balt and Rhain regions, payment of tribute (Jizyah), which must be paid annually by the empire, release of prisoners of war, and recognition of the empire's annexation of Crete, Lisolani, and the Vessel Islands. King Goldebalt IX accepted all of these conditions, although slightly opposed by Kaufmann, as a full desire to end the conflict and save his country from destruction. Additional unwritten clauses required the Balt Rhain envoy to bring a large gift accompanied by payment of tribute to Buyuk Pasha and his Viziers.
The impact of the Treaty of Edirne was very detrimental to the empire. and became the beginning of the end of Balt Rhain for the next few months. Balt Rhain was practically weakened and unable to block the Turkish invasion. On the other hand, the Kingdom of Hungary saw the need to conquer St. Michael as an effort to stop the Turkish invasion that was getting closer to its territory. and they got the opportunity in early 81 CTR. Alfred, as the new king of Balt Rhain, tried to rebel against the Ottomans by asking for Hungarian help. which resulted in Sultan Bayazid II holding a military expedition to St. Michael, which ended in failure. because of Hungarian intervention. The Ottoman failure to capture St. Michael raised the morale of the Christian troops. And as a sign of heroism, the Hungarian troops who managed to defend the city changed the name of St. Michael to Nandorverherfar. This city eventually became the Hungarian forward base to hold off the Ottoman invasion, until it was finally conquered by Sultan Suleyman 12 years later.
On the other hand, this agreement also marked the beginning of the end of the stratocracy era in Turkey and the transformation of the country into a sultanate (empire). 4 months after the Edirne agreement, Buyuk Pasha died. Zaganos Pasha immediately took advantage of the situation by contacting Sehzade Bayazid in Didymoteicho to immediately take the throne. The Osman family (Ottoman) was finally able to return to Constantinople. The coronation of Sultan Bayazid at the Abu Ayyub mosque, the reuse of the Topkapi palace as a state administration, and the conversion of the Hagia Sophia into a mosque. restored the Ottoman empire in the country after being interrupted for 80 years.

Adrianopel ( Edirne ) the city that was the site of negotiations for the Treaty of Edirne between Türkiye and the Balt Rhain.
Saray-ı Cedid-i Amire ( Edirne Palace ) which was used as a place for negotiating agreements between the Turkiye parties (Zaganos Pasha, Buyuk pasha). and Balt Rhain (Siegfried, Goldebalt IX).

Messier Mystes Devlog #3 - Spells, Characters Cont., Weapons & Armor,
Hey, look, it's on time this week. Who could've guessed?
Not me.
So, this week's updates are promising! Progress has been made (no thanks to SMT V Vengeance), and I'm excited to show mroe stuff off.
First up, introducing 1 last character from the early game before I hide the rest behind the GM screen:
Meet Altair!
A silly Fairy that Vega and you meet early in the game who claims to have amnesia. She acts as a permanent companion on your journey, there to experience the world alongside you and Vega while offering her own commentary. She has a little bit of a mischievous streak, so be careful...
Next up, spells!
Spellcasting at Messier used to be messy-air!
Okay, fine, no puns. Spellcasting at Messier used to be rather messy, a pain in the but to learn, and all around entirely ineffective at actually drawing people into the school.
And then the Grand Wizard Erwentz discovered the Element System.
Spells in Messier Mystes fall under one of 7 Elemental Types, displayed here on this high budget, high resolution MS Paint Drawing
Elements deal more damage towards the Element they have advantage against. And, in turn, that Element does less damage to them. All Mages in Messier have an Elemental Alignment from the chart above, zero exceptions.
Spells also come in a wide variety of forms. From combat spells tailor designed to expediate the rate at which the opponent dies to simple light-emitting spells for basic convenience, the limits of Magic are the limits of the imagination and willpower of the caster.
That is to say the Spell List is basically done, excluding any balance tweaks.
Now for something a little less exciting: Weapons and Armor!
Messier Mystes is, as the challenge dictates, set in a Magical School. Ergo, traditional Sword and Sorcery is mostly eschewed for just... Sorcery. This means physical combat is mainly an afterthought in-Universe, and if I were developing this in a team I'd be looking at magic a super cool Exclusively-Magic battle System....
I am, however, just a single quirked-up white boy not goated with the sauce, so instead I'm just kinda handwaving it.
Mages in Messier Academy get to choose from 3 different Foci. Wands, which come built-in with a cool no-cost Magic Sword when your MP is running low. Staves, which become a very convenient bludgeoning tool when Mana runs dry. And Tomes, which offer a considerable Spellcasting boost in exchange for just kinda making you a sitting duck when you run out of Spells. Equipment is equally simple. A set of Armor (one item mechanically), and a single accessory.
Should I develop this game further, the Armor and Weapons are at the top of the expanded features list. But for this, I'm down with keeping it simple and heavily Persona-inspired.
Additionally, for Armors, while nothing is Gender Locked (because that is cringe), characters will have a few sets of exclusive armors, so keep an eye out in dungeons for those!
Last up, some random miscellaneous bits. Bestiary is almost done, I just have to sort them by dungeon. Early on in the week I did some math (scary) and found the baseline damage I'm scaling the rest of the game up to. And Status Conditions are fully fleshed out now! I took the Pokemon approach for some (I.E. have them doing more than just X effect), and others tried to get a bit creative. It's not going to be too too different from your standard TBRPG experience, but I'm hoping a little bit of my own flavor goes a long way.
And... that's all for this week. Next week will probably be a shorter update as it'll just be me going hard into scene-writing, but I'll try and fill it with interesting information. Maybe I'll record a cutscene gif as part of it? IDK, that's a problem for next week's me.
Whelp, I'm kinda tired, so I'm going to go play SMT now.
See you in Da'at!
