im gonna be honest i never actually thought you'd be open to the idea of writing a jd & clay reconciliation plotline. its a pleasant surprise i just wasnt expecting it. honestly i wasn't expecting any sort of jd development or growth at all 😭

i think we actually did a pretty good job of showing jd slowly getting his shit together. it didnt start at holly darlin! he had emotions way back during ch10!

with clays "suicide" kind of starting jds introspection in the first place, i think its very appropriate that they reconciled. the fact jd thought he lost clay changed his entire perception of life! hes fallible now. there are consequences.

Shu & Masaki Whumptober 2021 Special, Day 2

Who wants mood music?!

Working on a fanfic involving a battlefield and need mood music to get ideas and words flowing? Are you the Game Master of a Tabletop RPG and can’t find the right song for your game during battle? Or you just want video game music suited for battles for other reasons. Look no further, as I take songs from Shu and Masaki’s franchise, Super Robot Wars/Masou Kishin!

Man in the Dark

Shu Shirakawa’s theme song, Dark Prison, is actually versatile, just like its owner- for villains, it’s intimidating and dreadful, while for heroes give an aura of ‘you dun messed up’ and ‘my morality doesn’t include the likes of you’. I’ve actually selected the Original Generations version mostly because it’s also featured in perhaps one of the coolest scene in The Inspectors anime that’s not featured in the game itself. (Yes, that’s Takehito Koyasu- he’s been playing Shu since 1996. And yes, that is indeed his middle finger.)

Speaking of anime, the Divine Wars version is even more orchestral and even features a hammer hitting metal, which works with the song because it’s said Shu made the Granzon himself. Yeah, he’s that kinda guy, and that’s why he’s my favorite.

Of course, sometimes you get ideas from events that happens in the games, and with Cybuster currently in bad shape after Moon Dwellers, I entertained the idea that poor Masaki would have to use the Granzon in a special level or for a few normal ones. And of course, there’s an arrangement perfect for that idea, which I dubbed the Ravezon. It feels much more Masaki than Shu despite it being the latter’s theme song. Then again, Cool and Create’s remix tends to feel very Masaki…

Last among the remix is the new theme for the Neo Granzon, created for the remake of Super Robot Wars EX’s Shu Chapter, which just so happens to be named after the song itself. Dark Prison Ver. OGDP is the perfect embodiment of Shu Shirakawa as an anti-hero, and still appears when Shu calls upon the Neo Granzon’s power after DP. The song embodies Shu’s power so well, that in DP, it overrides all villain theme songs. That’s how badass this song is.

Ragnarok

Armageddon was Shu’s original final boss theme, but was repurposed to be for other characters too… and as a map bmg for a Dark Prison chapter! Linked to the Original Generations version because it’s a bop and AWESOME.

The End of Masou Kishin

Elemental of Wind is the last battle theme for the Masou Kishin series, but you can’t deny using the “Winds of La Gias” title theme and Masaki’s very own “Neppu! Shippu! Cybuster!” theme into a dramatic, orchestrated piece works fantastically. It bookends the sub-series perfectly, and could be used for many a dramatic scenario. Long story short- if your character is associated with the wind, this is the theme you need. (No, you’re not hearing it wrong, Masaki’s theme song has vocals. Being the very first Super Robot Wars OC has its perks.)

Bring in the Futhark

As a bonus song, I have a third SRWOG favorite, Ing, and his first theme song, 22nd Child, is surprising dark for a heroic dude such as him, even featuring remixes of certain songs that foreshadows the reveal of his identity in 2nd SRWOG. (His second theme, Lost Children, also does the same remix thing, but only half of it would work for a good battlefield theme, so it’s not part of my set.)

So, you now have a few songs at the tip of your fingers for any usage involving battlefields. Don’t hesitate to look into their soundtracks for more songs, they’re all bangers as well!

Ah. Guy Diamond cares abt his son the same way that he cared abt Creek in alt14. I can’t put words to the how or why, but there’s def smthn there abt doing what he thinks is “best” for the people in his life regardless of what they want or what’d actually be good for them.

From the beginning we established that guy was exploiting tiny for his family vlog channel (remember when guy was just a shaytards joke?
