Back in my days, I saw ships of Kagome Higurashi from Inuyasha with Hiei and Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho...it's been 15 years and I still don't understand why people shipped them
And you know what I did every time I saw an image of them? I shrugged and moved on. I don't know why people these days are so eager to criticize and attack others when they're just minding their business and trying to be happy
“Eww don’t ship them ! They’re just friends, they hate each other and they barely have any interaction !”
Pussy. Back in my days, we shipped Elsa and Jack Frost to hell and back because they were both ice themed.

Hello sweets,
I just wanna say that, along with my adoration and absolute dedication to Jelsa (Jack frost X Elsa), I share a safe space for Blackice (Pitch Black X Jack Frost), Hijack (Hiccup Haddock X Jack frost), Fear (Pitch Black X Elsa) ships as well. The order of preference kinda decreases as it goes though, if I'm being brutally honest.
Whether it's a romantic or platonic ship, that is secondary. For me, it's the dimensions and dynamics which I care for the most. Which is boosted by the fact that this is all a "fan's work". I can explore and navigate their interactions with the freedom of "just doing it for fun" and also learning how to write and design various characters. And this can be implemented when creating my ocs, and their worlds and stories as immersive as possible, too.
Sorry for the small rant post. Kinda wanna yap about idk, "after effect for an individual after spending some time in some 'x' Fandom".
As an official all time tumblr newbie and lurker, who has only been signing in using Google accounts until this year, I've been in the ROTBTD X Frozen Fandom for most of my time here. (I MEAN 7 years is no joke, unless it's considered one, idk).
And I just have to say, in a way it is a good thing, you know, to atleast know a tiny bit of each Fandom, EXCLUDING social demographics, and just floating around. Just enjoying for the sake of it while being interested in the way their respective stories unfold within the audience and devotees of the Fandom's ships and crossovers. It's all fine. You need not involve too deep and still enjoy the delicacy. Each to their own.
And then there're people like me. Who just have the feral urge to know about everything even from the most basic interactions, between NPCs even. Every nook and cranny has a hidden treasure and a new concept ready to be discovered. The concepts that mend your reality and answer questions, while allowing you to stay in own pace of discovering, genuinely speaking to your soul. Instead of just enjoying the end product, the meal brought to the table, I need to know whether the kitchen chefs have made a deal with the vendor for early access to fresh portables, or are they just making it out of magic (it's a metaphore guys, I'm not THAT crazy). You know, that sorta thing. Plus I love to design and make compositions, colour palettes, shape languages, based on these factors alone, I'm afraid. The factors that I've come up with and the lore that was unearthed and was documented under the aid and guidance offered by the Fandom, and it's talented and dedicated members, to make the end product as best as I could and to do the whole concept of "fan's work" justice. So thank you so much creators for being an inspiration by just being you. Love you all.

Jen Tortures Herself With Every Dreamworks Animated Movie Ever: Rise of the Guardians
Tumblr media
So I vaguely remember watching this movie at a Walmart once while I was waiting on my car to get fixed. Fuck all if I remember anything about it though other than that people ship the ice twink with Elsa or whatever. So I kind of went into this one for my first active watching of it with bare expectations. How did I end up finding it then?
Tumblr media
The Guardians are a group of mythical beings composed of North (Santa Claus), the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, the Sandman, and their newest recruit, Jack Frost. Together, they protect the children of the world from the villainous Pitch Black (the Boogeyman) from spreading fear across the entire world. A pretty solid setup with some good payoff, but... there are problems.
I think my biggest issue with Rise of the Guardians is... well, its ambitious. A bit too ambitious for its own good at times. It has so much it wants to establish with these characters and how their roles and powers work that it sometimes bogs itself down with all of the details and... overcomplicates things a bit too much? Like on its own, we all are familiar with the concept of Santa or the Easter Bunny, and I do appreciate how creative this movie is with executing them and the work that they do. But sometimes, it just... gets in its own way? If that makes any sense?
Tumblr media
So a simple premise that bogs itself down in the details. Ok, what else is there about this movie to redeem it? Lots, surprisingly! The Guardians are all really fun characters in their own right, and I loved the dynamic developed between them. Jack Frost is our focal point out of all of them, and I really liked him! He's an angsty little ice twink who can't been seen by almost anyone because no one believes him, so he has plenty of baggage for compelling drama. My one issue with him though is that I don't think Chris Pine's voice works for his character design? Like I look at that character and I do not think the voice of a man cresting his mid 40s. Its just a touch weird in terms of casting.
Tumblr media
The other Guardians are also really fun and unique takes on characters we all already know. North is a delightfully different take on Santa, still just as jolly as we know him to be, with a slick action-hero element of him to the side. The Tooth Fairy has a very sweet, fast-paced energy to her, while the Easter Bunny brings a great edge of sass to compete with Jack throughout the film. The Sandman, while not saying a word, is probably my favorite of the bunch though. He's just so charming and sweet and while he isn't in much of the movie, he makes such a strong impact every second he's on screen.
Tumblr media
Of course, we also have our villain, Pitch Black. He's sinister and manipulative, if not a bit... predictable? Like we've all seen this kind of villain before, he isn't doing anything new, but he works well as a foil for this team, especially for Jack and I think he's an ok antagonist overall.
Tumblr media
Visually, this movie is beautiful, so unlike almost anything Dreamworks has ever made before, with gorgeous effects and fantastically animated action sequences. The character designs are so... un-Dreamworks, but they work so nicely in the world they inhabit. That world itself is beautifully built, especially in its more fantastical setpieces like the Tooth Palace or the North Pole. The score was also lovely to listen to, capturing the sheer creativity of this movie so nicely.
At the end of the day, I think that's the perfect word to describe Rise of the Guardians. It's very creative, with a lot of love and thought clearly poured into it. It really is a shame that it didn't go anywhere further into a series or more sequels because I would have loved to see more of this team and watch them just... be together. They're that fun to watch in action. Same for the movie itself. It's good!
Overall Rating: 8/10
Verdict: All hail the Ice Twink

The Frozen 2 prequel novel, “Dangerous Secrets: The Story of Iduna and Agnarr,” is scheduled to release on November 3rd. A preview excerpt was just released via this article from Insider.com. I pasted it below, with my thoughts following:
---
THE STORM IS GETTING WORSE.
Lightning slashes across an angry black sky, soon followed by the crash of thunder. Waves pound against the ship's hull as I grip the wooden rail with white knuckles. Fierce gusts of wind tug my hair free from its braid, and damp brown strands whip at my face. I don't dare let go to brush them away.
Instead, I keep my eyes on the sea. Looking for her.
In some ways, I've spent my entire life looking for her. And tonight, my journey may finally come to an end. Unfinished. Unfound.
Ahtohallan. Please! I need you!
Perhaps she never existed at all. Perhaps she was simply a myth. A silly song to lull children to sleep. To make them feel safe and secure in a world that's anything but. Perhaps I was a fool to think we could simply go and seek her out. Learn the mother's secrets.
I do know something about a mother's secrets.
Another wave sweeps in, bashing against the ship's hull, sending a spray of icy seawater splashing at my face. I stumble backward, momentarily blinded by the salt stinging my eyes. A strong pair of hands clamps down on my hips; a solid chest at my back keeps me upright.
I turn, already knowing whom I'll find standing tall behind me. The man who has been with me almost my entire life. The man who has made me laugh—and cry—more than anyone else in the world. My husband. The father of my daughters. My enemy. My friend.
My love.
Agnarr, king of Arendelle.
"Come, Iduna," he says, pulling me around to face him. He reaches out, clasping my hands in his. They are as warm and strong as mine are cold and trembling.
I look up, taking in the sharp line of his jaw. The fierceness in his leaf-green eyes. If he's frightened, he's not showing it. "We need to go below deck," he says, shouting to be heard over the furious wind. "Captain's orders. It's not safe up here. One rogue wave could knock you overboard."
I feel a sob rise to my throat. I want to lash out, protest the orders. I'm fine. I can take care of myself. I'm not some silly girl frightened by the elements.
But what I really want to say is, I can't leave. I haven't found her yet.
If I go below, I may never find her.
And if I don't . . .
Elsa. My sweet Elsa . . . My dear Anna . . .
Agnarr gives me a pointed look. I sigh, untangling my hands from his, and begin stumbling toward the stairs that lead to our cabin below, on legs unaccustomed to rough seas. I'm almost there when the ship suddenly pitches hard to the left and I lose my footing, grabbing on to the railing to save myself. I can feel a few of the crew watching me with concern, but I push forward, keeping my head held high. I am a queen, after all. There are certain expectations.
Once below, I push open our cabin door and move inside, letting it bang shut behind me. The captain has given us his cabin for the journey, which I insisted wasn't necessary, but I was overruled. It's the only cabin suited for a fine lady, he protested. Because that's how he sees me.
That's how they all see me now. A fine lady. A perfectly poised Arendellian queen.
But now, at last, Agnarr knows the truth.
I ease myself down on the bed, reaching to grab my knitting needles and my half-finished project. An inappropriate task under the circumstances, but perhaps the only thing that might steady my hands—my pounding heart. I can hear Agnarr push open the door, his strong, solid presence filling the room. But I don't look up. Instead, I start to knit as the ship rocks beneath my
feet. It's dark down below, too dark to really see the delicate yarn, but my hands are sure and true, the repetitive motions as natural and familiar to me as taking in air. Yelana would be proud.
Yelana. Is she still out there, in the Enchanted Forest, still locked in the mist?
Only Ahtohallan knows.
Suddenly, I want to throw my needles across the room. Or collapse on the bed in tears. But I do neither, keeping my attention on the unfinished shawl. Forcing myself to let each stitch lull me into something resembling comfort.
Agnarr pulls out a wooden stool from the captain's desk, sitting down across from me. He picks up a corner of the unfinished shawl, running his large fingers across the tiny stitches. I dare to sneak a peek at him, realizing his eyes have become soft and faraway.
"This is the same pattern," he says slowly. And I know what he means without asking. Because of course it is. I hadn't even realized it when I started, but of course it is.
The same pattern as the shawl my mother knitted me when I was a baby.
The shawl that saved his life.
"It's an old Northuldra pattern," I explain, surprised how easily the words leave my mouth now that the truth is known. "Belonging to my family." I pick up his hand and place it on each symbol in turn. "Earth, fire, water, wind." I pause on the wind symbol, thinking back to
Gale. "It was the Wind Spirit who helped me save your life that day in the forest."
He gives a low whistle. "A wind spirit! If only I'd known," he says, reaching up to brush his thumb gently across my cheek. Even after all these years, his touch still sparks a longing ache deep inside, and it's an imperative, not an option, to drop my needles to return the gesture. To run my fingers against the light stubble of his jaw. "It would have made my stories to the girls so much more interesting."
I smile at this. I can't help it. He has always found a way to help me find sunshine amidst the gloomiest of days. It's strange, though, to realize he knows everything now. After a lifetime overshadowed with secrets, it should feel freeing.
But in truth, it still scares me a little, and I find myself glancing at him when he doesn't know I'm looking. Trying to see, trying to know whether the truth has changed his feelings toward me. Does he resent me for keeping so much from him for so long? Or does he truly understand why I did it? If we survive this night, how will things change between us? Will the truth bring us closer together? Or tear us apart?
Only Ahtohallan knows. . . .
I reach out and take Agnarr's hands in mine, meeting his deep green eyes with my blue ones. I swallow down the lump in my throat that threatens to choke me, and force another smile.
"I will never forget that day," I start with a whisper, not sure he can even hear me over the tempest outside. "That horrible, wonderful day."
"Tell me," he whispers back, leaning in close. I can feel his breath on my lips. Our faces are inches away. "Tell me everything."
I swallow all the words that threaten to jump out of my throat in a hurried rush, throwing myself back on the bed, staring up at the wooden-beamed ceiling. After I breathe calmly, I say, "That might take all night."
He crawls onto the bed, lying down next to me. He reaches out and curls his hand into mine. "For you, I've got forever."
I swallow hard, tears welling in my eyes. I want to protest: we don't have forever. Or even all night. We may not have an hour, judging from the way the wooden beams of the ship are creaking and cracking. But at the same time, it doesn't matter. It's time. It's long past time. He deserves to know everything.
I swipe the tears away, rolling to my side and propping my head up with my elbow. "You have to tell your part, too," I say. "This story isn't only mine, you know."
His arm curls around my waist, his hand settling at the small of my back as he tugs me closer to him. He's so warm. How is it possible that he's still so warm? "I think I can manage that," he says with a small smile. "But you must start. It all began with you, after all."
"All right," I say, resting my head on his chest, his steady heartbeat against my ear. I close my eyes, trying to decide where to begin. So much has happened over the years. But there is that one day. One fateful day that changed the course of both our lives forever.
I open my eyes. "It all starts with the wind," I say. "My dear friend Gale."
As I speak, the words begin to course through me like the forbidding waters roiling outside. And like the waters, I will finally make myself heard.
Agnarr will listen.
He's always been the storyteller in our family. But not this time. Now it's my turn to tell the tale.
---
What stood out to me:
- It seems like Iduna revealed her past to Agnarr around the time they set sail for Ahtohallan, not the night of the accident with Elsa’s magic as Jennifer Lee, and I believe other sources, have implied. Of course, with “spin-off” content like this where the original creators aren’t involved, there’s bound to be inconsistencies. But Jen never stated that the time of Iduna’s reveal was definitely the night of the accident, only that she believes it’s that night though it could have been another night (I think this was part of the podcast interview she did several months ago). So yeah, the exact night it happened isn’t terribly relevant.
- This excerpt also reveals that Iduna revealed some of the truth to Agnarr early on, but then reveals everything in detail during their last moments before the ship goes down. So maybe she did reveal some of it the night of the accident but not all? We’ll see.
- Iduna knew Yelena. That makes sense considering Yelena’s age and the importance she seems to have in the Northuldra tribe.
- Iduna uses feminine pronouns for Ahtohallan, reinforcing the theory in my Frozen 2 book that Ahtohallan was viewed as a goddess of sorts in Northuldra culture
- Iduna also calls the wind spirit “Gale.” Obviously we all thought that was the name Olaf gave her but apparently Iduna did as well. Coincidence?
- The book is written in first-person perspective from Iduna’s point of view, unlike the previous adult-aimed Frozen books “A Frozen Heart” and “Forest of Shadows” which are written in second/third-person.
- Iduna was in the process of knitting another scarf while on the ship. I wonder why.
- The cover art for the book changed slightly from the original version, with the main image in the center being of Iduna and Agnarr when they’re younger instead of when they’re king and queen.
- I’m curious as to what kind of order the book will present the events of the timeline. Obviously this excerpt is from the end of Iduna and Agnarr’s lives, so will it start here and show everything else via flashbacks? Seems weird they’d choose the end of the book for this preview so my guess is that things will be revealed out of order.

December 1st- Lights Out
Universe: 1970′s AU (The Great NYC Blackout of ‘77)
Rating: M (Mature, Sexy times)
Length: 3077 Words
A/N: So here we are again. Advent fics, and also decades AUs! I wrote from 1900 to 1950 for last year’s advent and I did 1960 in the spring, so here we are picking up where I left off! If you can guess what company Anna works for in this fic I will give you a cookie and a sticker.
Lets see if I can finish at least the decades this time around, shall we?
Anna sighed as soon as she walked through the front door of the apartment, letting her hair fall out of the low bun she’s had it up in all day. She knew that it was probably silly to keep it up. After all she hated it being that way, but she wanted to make a good impression at work. The better she did, the quicker she could get a good reference, and the sooner she could get out of the city.
She was a bit amused though, despite the hairpin headache it had given her all day, that a coworker had compared the look to something out of the sci-fi flick that had come out some months back. She hadn’t seen it yet, but she imagined that being compared to the princess in the film was probably a good thing, she did know that it was exceedingly rare that a princess was evil or ugly. Her experience with children’s content was, of course, what she’d in part been hired for in the first place.
She shook out her hair and heard some of the little metal bobby pins fall to the floor, they clattered and skidded, undoubtedly falling into cracks and corners she didn’t have the time, energy, or light to locate. She knew that she’d find them again someday, but she hoped that it would soon be because she was busy moving furniture into a truck and her belongings into boxes. New York was interesting, to say the least, but she’d decided that she was much more of a small-town gal than a city chick.
She gathered up the rest of the pins in her hand as she raked her hair through the long and snarled mess. Those pins that hadn’t jumped ship with the initial shake had found themselves tangled in the waves of descending hair and were sometimes angrily biting at strands and taking pieces with them as she removed them. She could already feel her headache easing as her scalp tingled and readjusted to the natural weight distribution of her hair.
The worst part of her job was not the headaches, the hairstyles, or even the momentary concerns that maybe the princess she looked like was the rare evil and cruel type. No, it was much more mundane and far more upsetting, the factor being, of course, the hours. She had been working since noon and it was one of the rare days that she was able to get home before nine at night. Of course, she had expected this when she joined on the CTW’s education research and grant writing division. Kid’s television didn’t exactly make itself, much less make itself educational, but she was looking forward to going elsewhere and working for a less high-profile program and company. A nine to five, she thought, would suit her just fine, especially if it meant that she’d spend more time actually working with kids.
She kicked her shoes off and let herself breathe for a moment before turning around to lock the apartment door behind her. Kristoff has been asking her to be more careful lately with the door, and on the subway, and doing just about anything. They weren’t in a particularly dangerous area of the city and the office she worked out of was only two subway stops from their apartment, but she understood the worry. She was young and pretty in his eyes at least and there was talk in the news about some psycho attacking women. She couldn’t let herself give into the fear of it though, she was done being afraid. She had spent too much of her life being scared and lonely to let it ever happen again.
The bathroom door opened on the opposite side of the room and Anna grinned at the familiar creak of the hinges. She turned and saw Kristoff, fresh from the shower with steam rolling out from behind him, looking as happy to see her as he felt seeing him.
“There’s takeout in the fridge,” he said, looking a bit sheepish, “I was going to cook but I didn’t know when you were getting home tonight and I forgot to pick up the egg noodles on my way back from the shop.”
She wondered how he’d react if she told him that he was the only thing she was hungry for. She’d forgotten to call him to let him know that she’d had a sub at the office while finishing up on some research for an upcoming episode about astronomy, and while she appreciated his efforts at takeout, she didn’t need to eat. She was much more interested in the feast for the eyes before her. She was starving for his attention, to let her hands wander down his chest and to the towel slung low over his hips the way her eyes were traversing the same path.
They were both working crazy hours, saving up as much as they could for their dream of moving to the suburbs or to upstate or wherever they could both find jobs in their fields with a nice little starter house that they could set up a life in. Consequently, they’d both been too exhausted lately to spend their time together doing anything other than eating, sleeping, and maybe listening to the radio before falling asleep. The monotony of it was more exhausting than the workload, particularly when she spent a fair amount of her day wishing for the opportunity she now found before her.
She saw him grin when her eyes wandered back up to his. She knew that he couldn’t have planned to be just getting out of the shower when she got home given he hadn’t known when she would get home, so she called it kismet instead. She shrugged off her blazer, barely turning as she hung it up on the coatrack and returned the smile, throwing in an eyebrow raise for good measure.
It made him laugh, and that let her know that she had looked exactly as mock-lascivious as she’d meant to. She’d learned that when it came to Kristoff, she never really needed to try to flirt, he just gave her the love she needed on demand. Any flirting between them was, at this point in their relationship, mostly for the laughs.
As she stepped forward to meet him she watched as the room went from softly lit to pitch black in an instant. It caused her to jump about a foot, rush forward, trip, and encounter Kristoff who had been, in return, crossing the room to get to her. The impact wasn’t gentle, he was normally her favorite pillow, his largeness being mostly a virtue given the fact that despite his muscle he was overwhelmingly soft, but she had never run straight into his chest before. It was a bit like what she felt running into a padded wall would feel like.
“Oof.”
His grunt of discomfort was a strange comfort when compared to the more concerned sounds, shouts, and confused cries that came from the surrounding apartments and the street below. That, Anna realized, meant that they were certainly not the only ones who were out of power.
“Sorry!”
She offered the apology meekly as his arms wrapped around her. He gave her a little protective squeeze and she rested her weight against him a bit more fully, still recovering from the impact of their bodies that had her a bit shaky on her feet. Normally she enjoyed the sensation of him thoroughly wrecking her, but crashing into him unexpectedly was significantly less enjoyable.
Power outages weren’t exactly uncommon in the summer as everyone ran their fans and air conditioners, but it normally wasn’t something that lasted exceedingly long. This already felt different though, particularly as Anna heard the hollers and shouts coming from through the window from the rest of the block. Whatever had caused their power to go out was not localized to their apartment or building it seemed.
She let her eyes drift over to the window as they adjusted to the darkness they’d been plunged into. She could see past the no longer running fan that there were no lights to be seen in the park across the street from it, nor were there any beyond it.
“I think it’s the whole block,” she said quietly, “maybe even more. There’s no lights in the park and I can’t see any light past that either.”
They were both quiet for a moment as she felt him turning to look as well, turning them together to the side so that they could both look through their dark window, into the dark city beyond.
“Crap,” he groaned, “Might be the whole borough.”
Anna shook her head. That would be insane. They were in Manhattan, it was massive, and for the sheer amount of different areas it contained there was really no logical way for her to wrap her head around the power being out across it.
“If Manhattan is out, the whole city might as well be. I don’t know what it would take for it all to go out.”
Kristoff sighed and Anna’s eyes finally adjusted well enough for her to see his grumpy expression, or at least the shadowy set of his displeased jaw. They sat like that for a while, eyes adjusting to the dark, waiting for the power to click back on and for them to be proven wrong about any more than just their block being out. It didn’t return after minutes passed like hours, and they were forced to move from their standstill.
“Well… guess it’s a good thing that Elsa bought us candles for an apartment warming gift. Do we even have a lighter?”
Anna sighed, “Honestly I don’t know? I think I have a box of matches in the drawer next to the stove because we needed them when the igniter wasn’t working. One of us needs to take up smoking if this is going to become a more frequent event.”
That, she was pleased to report, made him laugh again. She stepped out from his arms to bump into furniture in her search for the drawer containing the matches. She never truly realized how many obstacles their apartment contained until she crashed her hip into the table edge, bumped into a basket of laundry she’d only half folded, and stumbled across a chair leg.
“That seems like an extreme option. We could just buy a lighter and not smoke. I know you don’t like the smell. You always complain about it when we go out to eat and someone lights up at a table near us.”
Anna hip checked the counter by accident but managed to find the drawer handle with one hand as she rubbed the now sore skin through her pant leg with the other. Somewhere on the other side of the apartment she heard Kristoff open the closet door and make a valiant attempt to dig through out-of-season coats, miscellaneous pieces of décor, tools, and sundry to find candles that, like everything else in their apartment, he couldn’t see.
For her part she was rummaging through the junk drawer, fingers making contact with buttons, patches, glue bottles, tape dispensers, and all manner of unnecessary-until-they’re-necessary items. She always told herself when she went into the drawer for something that she needed to clean it out, but it was one of those tasks that never made itself a priority.
“I don’t like it, but I’d probably have a lighter in my pocket if I did.”
She could practically feel his eyes rolling when her fingertips brushed against the rough, sandpaper-like striker of the matchbox. Her hand wrapped around the little box, and she was grateful to feel something rattle around inside. It would have been just like her to have thrown an empty box back into the drawer, and she couldn’t help but appreciate past Anna for leaving her at least a few matches.
“Found them,” Kristoff called just as Anna was about to do the same. It was a small mercy, she thought, that they’d managed to be prepared despite not intentionally preparing for anything. She held the match box up in the dark and shook it hard, the rattling heard across the apartment even with their neighbors still grumbling and shouting.
“Great,” he replied, hearing the sound or seeing the movement confirming the existence of the matches. “Though you should know… Anna I think I lost my towel somewhere near the closet.”
***
The lights hadn’t come on. They’d spent hours in the living room, reading, lazing, complaining about the heat as they read and lazed and sweated in their underclothes. The possibility of going out and seeing what everyone else was doing was offered and quashed by them both on a few occasions, ultimately with them both deciding that they wouldn’t be leaving the apartment that night, nor would they be doing so in the morning, even if the power was back on.
“I deserve a day off,” Anna moaned as Kristoff’s hips rolled into hers.
They’d went to bed innocently enough, planning to sleep in and catch up on rest. The plan had lasted all of a few moments until Anna took advantage of Kristoff spooning her to press her rear suggestively into his crotch. She thought that they deserved some sort of prize for making it into bed in the first place. She’d wanted him since she walked into the apartment, and though he’d managed to put on underwear out of the half-folded laundry basket after losing his towel, Anna had been more than willing to spend the rest of their evening on the couch in candle light.
Their current arrangement was better on their backs, and less likely to start a fire.
“You do baby,” he agreed, his voice deep as they engaged in the only agreeable activity a young couple could possibly agree on when it was late, the power was out, and there was nothing to be done about the heat.
His hands were on her waist as she moved above him, his fingers pressing into her skin as he helped her find a rhythm. She loved the way it felt to have him below her, to give him the pleasure he deserved while taking it for herself.
“You deserve a day off,” she added, “We can spend the whole day in bed.”
He groaned and she felt his fingers squeeze a little tighter at the idea of spending a whole day alternating between making love and napping. Though, she supposed that he might also be reacting to the fact that she was speeding up her pace, riding him hard and fast, trying to make up for weeks of unwanted celibacy in one night.
She was full of him, each time she rolled her hips and sank down on him brought her closer and closer to the edge. She’d spent hours daydreaming of it, feeling the stretch of him filling her, watching the euphoric daze come over his features as he let her give herself to him again and again until they were tired and sated. To see it now in the dim flickering candle light brought an intimacy that she hadn’t imagined before, the light dancing over his kiss swollen lips as he groaned and panted along with her.
“Anna, if you keep doing that I’m going to…”
She rocked her hips and his rolled in return, seeking just the right angle together and finding it as the friction of their joining brought her to her climax before he could achieve the same. She kept her pace, riding out the euphoric sensation as he panted out her name. She let him take up the lead then, letting him set the pace as she moved along with the urging of his hands on her waist.
“Kris,” she encouraged, “Gosh baby you make me feel so good. Please come for me.”
She settled her hands on his shoulders, using him for support as they sped up and worked together to find his end.
He came for her, his grip tightening and his eyes fluttering closed as she watched his face. That was her favorite part of being on top, the view it afforded her of his features softening as she felt him go pliant below her.
They stayed like that for a moment, his hands on her hips and her just holding his shoulders for support, watching him. When he caught his breath and her thighs began to shake from the effort, he pulled her to his side and kissed her lips softly, almost chastely.
“I hope the power stays out,” Anna teased as she got comfortable on the bed at his side, “I know we agreed not to go to work tomorrow, but I think I could live without electricity if it meant more of this.”
Kristoff chuckled against her ear as he pulled her back into him. It was too hot for it, too hot for what they’d just done, but a slight breeze through the window cooled the sweat on their bare skin and made it bearable. She felt him kiss her throat and she hummed appreciatively at the contact, her arm settling over his where it crossed her stomach.
“Or we could just move sooner than planned. Imagine all the free time we’ll have together when we’re on the same schedule. I’ve been looking at jobs North of Albany and I think with our savings we can live on one income for a little while if you want to move up the timeline.”
           Anna smiled at the idea.
           “Want to hear something crazy?”
He didn’t speak but instead she felt him nodding behind her.
“I’ve been thinking the same thing. I’ve been looking at open positions upstate too and Fisher Price is looking for someone with an education background to join their research and design team. I was thinking about calling about the position and setting up an interview, but it just seemed like it was a little fast.”
           “Anna that’s not crazy… baby that’s wonderful.”
“You’re wonderful,” she teased, leaning back into him and turning her head to give him a peck on his arm.
He laughed and kissed her on the top of her head in retaliation, and as they quieted and dozed off to sleep, Anna could not help but to think that maybe the blackout was fate after all.

Finding herself: Queen and 5th Spirit
The opening scene of Frozen 2 sets up the whole movie and deftly manages to introduce new plot elements not seen in Frozen 1, without feeling artificial or out-of-universe. Many story arcs start in the opening scene, including a lot of foreshadowing which has been touched on elsewhere (eg here and here). In this post I just wanna focus on Elsa and give some insights through the 6 questions she asks: 1) You’ve seen an enchanted forest? 2) Were the Northuldra magical, like me? 3) What happened to the spirits? 4) What’s in the forest now? 5) Do you think the forest will wake again? 6) Will you sing it for us, please? Elsa’s questions (and her facial expressions) convey her thoughts.
At this point in the story, the events of Frozen 1 have not yet happened, so little 8 year old Elsa knows she has magical powers, but is not fearful of them yet (at this point, she knows she can make snow, and pretty figures and ice up the floor for ice skating) She probably has asked herself and everyone around her, “Why do I alone have these powers?”.
In my headcanon, I believe she is also aware (or at least has some notion) that she is the Crown Princess and future Queen. But, she’s still a little innocent child.
The scene starts with Anna and Elsa playing in their bedroom and King Agnarr, observing their make-believe Enchanted forest, drops a hint that he has seen an Enchanted forest too.
1. You’ve seen an enchanted forest?
Tumblr media
Elsa’s first question is entirely childlike and inquisitive, she wants to hear a story from Daddy! I like the little double-blink she makes when she says “forest”. But she is unaware of and unprepared for the gravity of the story and history of Arendelle that is to be revealed to her for the first time.
2. Were the Northuldra magical, like me?
Tumblr media
As Agnarr’s story continues, Elsa is electrified to learn that there are magical spirits and other magical people out there (”like me?”), and for a fleeting moment, she hopes that she might one day find them and that they will be able to make her feel like she’s not alone, and to give her an explanation for her powers. All young children like to hear magical fairy tales, but for Elsa, it’s different because she possesses magical powers.
3. Agnarr: And that night, I came home king of Arendelle.
Tumblr media
Very rapidly, the story becomes dark and real. Elsa realises, this is no fairy tale. This is the history of my country. My grandfather the King died. My father was actually there and kingship was thrust upon him at a young age. Elsa realises the weight of being a ruler, and may be wondering whether she is expected to take up the role to ‘avenge’ Arendelle against the Northuldra. She realises there is a mystery yet to be solved, with political implications.
4. Anna - completely different frequency
Tumblr media
It’s interesting and funny to note that little Anna is on a completely different frequency when she goes “whoa Papa, that was epic. Whoever saved you, I love them!” Of course, little Anna is much younger and probably doesn’t grasp the concept of royal succession, and can’t comprehend the gravity of this story. And we know that little Anna is crazy about love and romance (kissing won’t save the forest!)
5. What happened to the spirits? What’s in the forest now?
Tumblr media
Elsa asks about the spirits and the forest because, as mentioned previously, she is searching for answers about herself, and yearning to find people like her.
6. Elsa’s disappointment
Tumblr media
Elsa’s face shows her disappointment that she won’t be getting an answer so easily. Her face is crestfallen and she looks down at her lap but not for long because...
7. Agnarr: “We must be prepared for danger”
Tumblr media
Elsa is reminded about the danger and I think she is jerked back from thinking about herself and her unanswered questions about her powers, to her role as Crown Princess and future Queen and protector of Arendelle. She looks at Agnarr with big eyes and gives a dutiful and obedient nod as if to say, “Yes sire, I will do my utmost”.
8. Anna and Elsa - different frequency again!
Tumblr media
Again, little Anna and Elsa are on a different frequency! Elsa is looking down, her little head swimming and weighed down by questions about her powers, the Northuldra, the spirits, and contemplating her role, duties and obligations as future Queen. Whereas Anna is behaving exactly like a 5 year old would, asking simple questions from a ‘black and white’ mentality without comprehending the background and implications.
9. Do you think the forest will wake again?
Tumblr media
Agnarr has left the room at this point and Elsa tries to ask Iduna about the forest, hopeful that Iduna will give her a different take, something positive about the forest, something for her to look forward to in her quest to find out about herself and her powers. And boy, does Iduna do that! When she introduces Ahtohallan, the magical river.
10, Will you sing it for us, please?
Tumblr media
Elsa’s face brightens so nicely! She has some hope again, even if Ahtohallan is just a song at this moment.
==
Tragically, the events of Frozen 1 take place immediately after this opening scene of F2, and I believe the trauma of hurting Anna and seeing Grand Pabbie’s vision wiped out Elsa’s desire to find out about herself because she was convinced she was cursed/was a curse (see my other post). And at the age of 18 when Agnarr and Iduna died, she ascended into the role of Queen and was crowned at 21. After the tumultuous events of F1 and the 3 years it took for her to heal, she is finally ready in the beginning of F2 to find herself when she hears the siren’s call for the first time since she heard Agnarr’s story. (side note: imagine Agnarr trying to reproduce the siren’s call in a high pitched voice!)
She starts thinking about the Enchanted forest again when she calls out to them in Into the Unknown and sees the elemental crystals at the end of the song (which she has not seen or even thought about for the last 16 years - although to us it is just a blink of an eye because of the structure of the movie)
Later on, in the ship scene, she rediscovers Ahtohallan in the map, although fate is cruel and instead of it bringing back a happy memory of her mother, she is immediately confronted with the truth of her parents’ death. But this is all washed away in the magnificent song, “Show Yourself” when she finally finds herself, her role as 5th spirit, and sees Iduna in Ahtohallan’s magical hall and cries happy tears.
Lastly, I belong to the club that believes Elsa didn’t abdicate because she hated being queen and dumped it on Anna, but she is embracing a much bigger role by being the protector of the forest and Arendelle. And in my headcanon she is still addressed as Queen Elsa whenever she comes back to Arendelle to see Anna and she still has a shared role with Anna as co-rulers.
“We did this together and we’ll continue to do this together.”
“Together”.
I love this movie.

Okay so hear me out.
In both Frozen Movies, the main point is fear. Wether it’s to embrace your fear or face it, it’s mainly around it. Now there are six spirits in the Frozen 2 movie. Earth, Water, Air, Fire, and the Bridge(?). Now there is two more main elements. The Light and Darkness. Hope and Fear. You see where I’m going with this?
In Rise of the Gaurdians, the main point is to believe and hope and fear. So Jack Frost is the Spirit of Fun (?) and Winter. Pitch Black was the villain and he was the Spirit of Fear.
Now, Honey x Elsa is my ship for the centuries. I don’t like Elsa x Jack Frost because Elsa is a lesbian and doesn’t like men as we can see so far. Now what if Elsa was blessed with a child by Manny/The Spirits. That child was the Spirit of Light and Hope. She plays with the other variations of the spirits.
Now you may be like “Evie, what do you mean variations of the spirits.” Well, Jack Frost would be Water (cause Ice and his story is about his loss of memories 👀) then there would be the person who can talk to the lizard or the lizard as a person. A boy with purple hair, blue eyes, and very pale skin that looks blue. Then Earth would be the smaller versions of the rock people. He would have grey-like skin, dark brown eyes, dirty blonde hair and moss clothing. Then finally air which would be a non-binary who has shaggy grey hair, orange/purple/red eyes (the leaves), and dark brown skin with freckles.
So these “variations” are more of the physical forms of the spirits. They either are the spirits or just represent them. They can talk to the spirits (if they aren’t the spirits themselves) and can use the same powers or variations of the powers.
The child of Elsa, otherwise known as the Hope Spirit or the Light Spirit, is also the Bridge. Since she is a descendent of the bridge.
She is also the Spirit of Summer and Spring.
So she has white hair like her mother with more of a blonde shade to it. She has blue eyes and always wears a dress like this:
Tumblr media
She is a sweet a kind girl who loves to play with the children of the forest and those in the surrounding kingdoms.

Series:
The Five Senses: Scent // Sound (If requests are still open, can I ask for Ramsay Bolton fic, where reader stills his closes because she likes how it smells, and Ramsay finds out about it and is law key excited about it, because he’s secretly I love with her, and punishes her in the best (smutsmutsmut) way possible?)
12 Days: Part One// Part Two // Part Three (Fic Request:  Christmas is soon lol! So, I thought of that idea: Ramsay has a huge crash on reader, but she don’t even talks to him and probably doesn’t even know who he is, and he’s chosen to be her Secret Santa (well, he cheated to get her) and he decided to make her 12 presents in 12 days based on 12 Days of Christmas, but, you know, in Ramsay’s style. And after first and second presents she’s like ‘omg he’s such s cutie’, but than she receives the third and is like ‘omg he’s hot’ And while they’re together she confesses that she knew he was her SS after 4th gift, because she recognized his voice (and that it made this present even hotter), and she, actually, always thought he was amazing and had a little crush on him with all his 'bad boy’ attitude.)
Oh, It’s You: Part One // Part Two// Part Three ( OMG, I sort of was inspired by Felicity Smoak from Arrow, but can you maybe do Ramsay x Reader, where they’re dating and that kind of stuff and everything is great exept they don’t know about each others secret lives: Ramsay is a leader of an assasin group and Reader is the leader of international hacker group. And when Ramsay need hacker’s help he goes to her group and they find out about each other. And Ramsay being incredibly impressed by her. Thank you ^^)
The Fucking Chili Girl Part One // Part Two // Part Three (Hey! Can I request Ramsay x Reader: Ramsay and Bastard’s Boys are running away from the cops and have to hide somewhere, so they choose the first door to crash in, and it’s Readers home, and Ramsay threatens her with the gun so she lets them in and in the middle of all that they smell smth and readers like ‘Omg my chili’ and so she ends up feeding them all with her chilli and its best they’ve ever tried)

(The Red Wedding happened a week ago. Your boss, Petyr, insists on celebrating the men who “won” this victory, the Red Kings, an assassination group run by the sour-looking Roose Bolton. You, one of Petyr’s favorites, is tasked to find out more about these Red Kings. Who are they? Who are their clients? Who is next? You’re very good at what you do until you meet him. What do you do? Girls like you can’t fall in love. Does the Pretty Bird fly away with him? Or does she ruin the Bloody Bastard and everything he has?)

(You are now a full-fledged member of the Red Kings. After your first successful mission, Domeric comes with troubling news: they’re being watched and there’s a mole among them. The Red Kings, Ramsay, and You now stand against a new enemy: Stannis Baratheon, a high ranking FBI member out to seek justice who may have his own dark secrets he’s trying to hide.In this next part of the series, you will be tested, face old enemies, and encounter faces you’d thought you’d never see again. You thought you were safe, but the game has just begun.)
Vicious: Prologue // Chapter One // Chapter Two // Chapter Three // Chapter Four // Chapter Five //  Chapter Six // Chapter Seven // Chapter Eight // Chapter Nine

Awesome! And that would be Pitch Black from Rise of the Guardians bc I WILL revive the Rise of the Brace Tangled Frozen Dragons fandom if it KILLS

Elsa
How I feel about this character
Love her to bits. Tho like... I love her potential most? I’mma be real and say the movie didn’t quite give us what I’d hope for with her... but the sequel might!
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Beast, Pitch Black, kinda Loki
My non-romantic OTP for this character
Anna, cuz again... sisters. Also she and Kristoff should be buds. And if Rapunzel’s not her cousin they should at least be best friends.
My unpopular opinion about this character
I have a bunch probably but I think h//e//l//sa being a NOTP for me would be a big one.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
I WISH WE’D GOTTEN TO SEE HER AS MORE OF A VILLAIN TYPE OR AT LEAST AN ANTIHERO. :c

okay okay how aboooout pitch
How I feel about this character
My beloved Boogey man. I think he’s a very interesting and sympathetic character (even based off of the context clues we get in the movie), but he’s also just so.... delightfully him that it’s honestly great to watch him be a total bastard. He’s definitely a comfort character too, and he’s done wonders for my fear of the dark and what lurks in it.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Rapunzel, Toothiana... Pitch and Elsa is cute too, but it’s not as high as the other two.
My non-romantic OTP for this character
North tbh. Him and Jack too.
My unpopular opinion about this character
I don’t.... like Black ice......
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
@ Dreamworks hey if and when that series is made please make Pitch happy i’m begging you

Bring Some Sharpies for the Best DIY Disney Souvenirs Ever
pinned from thefamilyoflove.com
We're always on the lookout for ingenious ways to eke out more magic from a Disney cruise. Here are some of the very best tips I've pinned to my family vacation-planning pinboards.
First up: An autograph book filled with the signatures of your favorite Disney characters makes a swell keepsake. But these Disney fans take DIY souvenirs to a whole new level by expanding the possibilities of autographed items.

Pack Homemade Costumes for Theme Nights
pinned from foster2forever.com
On every Disney cruise, there is always a pirate night with big Pirates of the Caribbean deck party. You can buy pirate gear at the ship's gift store or bring awesome homemade outfits that cost a lot less, as explained on the mom blog Foster2Forever.com. Don't be surprised to see passengers, especially kids, wearing Disney-themed costumes at all times during the cruise—so if your kid lives in her Elsa dress, she'll fit right in.

Arrive the Night Before
pinned from familytravelmagazine.com
Cruise ships are not like busses. If you miss your sailing, you can't just hop on the next one. “I always recommend arriving the night before sailing if you are flying into your port of call. That will help avoid the potential of flight delays,” recommends Family Travel Magazine. Another advantage of arriving the night before is that you can board the ship early and start having fun.

Book an Early Arrival
pinned from popsugar.com
On embarkation day, the early bird catches the worm, rightly declares PopSugar Moms. Your ship may not set sail until the afternoon, but there are advantages to boarding early. The sooner you board, the sooner you can enjoy the ship.
If you choose the earliest port arrival time (PAT) possible, you'll add several hours of fun to your cruise. Even if your ship doesn't depart until mid-afternoon, you'll be able to start enjoying many of the ship's features from the moment you board. As a bonus, you'll enjoy a shorter boarding time, to boot.

Personalize the Outside of Your Stateroom Door
pinned from familytravelmagazine.com
Cruise ship corridors tend to be very long and monotonous. Every door looks the same, which can make finding your stateroom a little tricky for kids. Since stateroom doors on cruise ships are made of metal, a fun solution is to use magnetic decorations to personalize the outside of your door.
You'll find lots of suggestions for decorating a Disney stateroom door at Family Travel Magazine. The possibilities are endless, from banners and posters to dry erase boards. Don't have time to do it yourself? Customized cruise door magnetic decorations are a booming cottage industry on Etsy.

Snag a Free Ticket for a Coveted Meeting
pinned from themouseforless.com
As The Mouse for Less notes, Disney Cruise Line allocates free tickets for the most popular character meet-and-greets as a way to control crowds. Much like a FastPass at Disney World, the ticket is free and guarantees entry at your allotted time. Be sure to pick up a ticket soon after boarding at the Port Adventures or Guest Services desk.

Ask the Ship’s Photographers to Use Your Camera
pinned from popsugar.com
There will be many Disney character meet-and-greets during your sailing, and the ship's photographers are always on hand to snap a portrait that you can buy later. But they'll gladly use your camera if you just ask, points out PopSugar Moms.

Wear a Wristwatch and Set It to Ship Time
pinned from disneystore.com
There's ship time and there's local time, and the two are sometimes not the same. Your cell phone's clock will automatically update to local time, which can cause great confusion since shipboard activities and port departures will be on ship time.
When you board the ship, set your phone to airplane mode in order to use Disney Cruise Line's Navigator app without data roaming. Ignore your phone's clock. Instead, pack a wristwatch and set it to ship time.

Change Your Phone’s Lock Screen
pinned from smartertravel.com
If you lose your phone on the ship, how could a Good Samaritan or the ship's crew return it to you quickly? SmarterTravel recommends changing your phone's lock screen to an image that displays your emergency contact information, including your name, email address and an alternate phone number.

Join the Ultimate Disney Gift Swap at Sea
pinned from familytravelmagazine.com
If you're the kind of family that loves goodie bags, Secret Santa, cookie swaps and grab bags, listen up. Disney Cruise Line passengers can participate in an entirely optional group-participation phenomenon known as fish extenders. What on earth are fish extenders, you ask? Pack Your Carry-On for Fun From Minute One
pinned from cruisecritic.com
On embarkation day there's often a lag of several hours between when you board the ship and when your bags arrive at your stateroom. That obviously also applies for essential medications and baby supplies.

Outsmart Those Smart Light Switches
pinned from cruisecritic.com
Every Disney cruise ship stateroom features an energy-saving main light switch that requires you to leave your key card in a slot in order to power the cabin. The idea is that it will prevent you from wasting power, but it's problematic if you want to charge electronic gadgets when you're out of the room.
No problemo, says Cruise Critic. You can outsmart the power police by putting any other similarly sized loyalty card, library card, or business card in the slot as a place holder. Just remember to switch the lights off when you step out.
Find this pin on my Cruising with Kids board.

Multiply Your Outlets
pinned from amazon.com
There are never enough outlets inside any cruise ship stateroom, and that's even more true for gadget-loving families. This inexpensive Belkin power strip and surge protector features three electrical and two USB ports. It's a godsend when you've got multiple gadgets to recharge at once. Need another USB port? You'll find one on the side of the flatscreen TV.

Pack a Dry Bag for a Day at the Beach
pinned from overtons.com
Going ashore for a day on Disney's private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay? Or maybe you've signed up for a snorkeling or kayaking excursion? You'll need to bring your stateroom key card and a photo ID (to get back on the ship), and you'll likely also want your phone and, for most ports, a credit card and some cash. (You won't need the latter two on Castaway Cay.) Ditch your wallet in your stateroom safe in favor of a small, waterproof, floatable dry case on a lanyard. This one is designed for paddlers and runs about $15 on Overtons.com.

Bring a Few Dollar Bills to Castaway Cay
Suzanne Rowan Kelleher
A Disney cruise is largely a cash-free vacation. You won't need any greenbacks on the ship or while on Castaway Cay, with the exception of the island's tiny post office. (Get oriented with these maps of the island.) If you want to send a postcard to yourself or a friend with the Castaway Cay postmark, you'll need a small amount of cash. Find Peace and Quiet on Deck 4
Suzanne Rowan Kelleher
On Disney ships, my favorite place to steal away with a good book is vintage-style Deck 4, a low-key haven with mahogany loungers and shuffleboard courts.

Choose a Stateroom With a View
pinned from thetravelbite.com
If you're choosing an exterior stateroom, consider the ship's route so you can enjoy a view of the sunrise on your first morning at sea and the sunset on your last evening, suggests The Travel Bite.  You might also think about views while in port. For example, when Disney ships dock at Castaway Cay, staterooms on the starboard side are typically treated to a sweeping view of the island, while those on the port side overlook the dock.

Use a Collapsible Closet Organizer for Extra Storage
pinned from amazon.com
Even in the most cleverly designed cabin, there never seem to be enough hangers or storage space. An inexpensive collapsible closet organizer with shelves doesn't take up much room in your suitcase yet adds significantly more room for everyone's belongings.

First-Time Cruiser? BYO Lanyards
pinned from travelwithkids.about.com
Each repeat guest on Disney Cruise Line receives a lanyard to hold the stateroom key card, which also serves as a shipboard charge card and a ticket for getting on and off the ship at each port. Wearing the card around your neck is super handy for parents and kids alike since the card's magnetic strip works through plastic so you never have to remove it. First time sailing with Disney? Simply bring an inexpensive lanyard with a clear card holder for everyone in your party.

Bring Coins to Make Pressed-Penny Souvenirs
pinned from disneycruiselineblog.com
Sailing out of Port Canaveral? The unofficial Disney Cruise Line Blog reminds us to bring coins to make pressed-penny souvenirs. Pressed pennies are a popular collectible in the Disney parks. While there are no machines on Disney's ships, there is a pressed-penny machine in the cruise terminal at Port Canaveral.
There are six Disney Cruise Line designs in all: one for each of the four Disney ships, one for Castaway Cay and one general Disney Cruise Line penny. You'll need one penny and two quarters to create a pressed penny. Want the whole DCL collection? Bring 12 quarters and six pennies.

Enjoy Disney and Pixar Movies on Demand
pinned from PopSugar.com
The entertainment on the ship is truly wonderful but, as PopSugar points out, fans of Disney and Pixar films can also get a fix in the comfort of their stateroom with in-cabin movies on demand.

As part of the July 2019 AO3 Ship Stats, here are the Top 100 F/F pairings with the most total works on Archive Of Our Own.
Of the 200 names on this list, there are 53 women of colour and 27 women of ambiguous race, compared with 42 and 35 in the 2017 list. For comparison, the overall top 100 list includes 46 people of colour and 8 who are racially ambiguous.
Because of the way I produced this data, it is possible some F/F ships are missing, particularly those in fandoms dominated by other categories of ship. For more information, see the project FAQs. This project also includes an All-Time Top 100 list and 2017-2019 Top 100, and can be found cross-posted on AO3.
Edit: Fixed race classification for Éponine Thénardier.

Okay, so I’m stalling writing by looking at a lot of my old fic ideas (amazingly, I once upon a time had a template for story outlining, man what a time), and here’s just a few of the ideas I had back then. (Note: All of these ideas are at least pre-2015, when I was <14, so be warned)
- Labyrinth/HP crossover where Sarah is given control of Gringotts through her defeat of Jareth, and she and Jareth bring change to wizard-goblin relations, as well as act as teachers and mentors to Harry & Friends, including potentially teaching him goblin magic.
- Frozen/Thor crossover where Arendelle is a subkingdom of Asgard, and Elsa and Loki grew up as playmates, with Loki’s heritage discovered the same time Elsa hurts Anna with her magic, and only their friendship keeps them from shutting out the world. After Thor’s failed coronation, the secret gets out, and the two flee together to Midgard, meeting Jane, Darcy and Selvig.
- Another Frozen/Thor/Avengers crossover, except Elsa is a former SHIELD agent who hides an escaped Loki on her Montana ranch, and they slow burn (lol) fall in love. Hans is a HYDRA agent who kidnaps Elsa, steals her powers, and then almost kills her with them, but true love’s kiss saves the day. Also, Anna works at Disney.
- A ATLA/Mulan crossover where Zuko and Iroh meet Mulan and her family (Fire Nation expats) during Season 2, and she ends up traveling with them to Ba Sing Se, eventually falling for Zuko, and he her. She goes with Zuko to the Fire Nation, moves to Ember Island after the Day of Black Sun, gets back together with Zuko when he and the Gaang get to Ember Island, helps bring down Azula, and eventually becomes Zuko’s Fire Lady.
- A Star Wars/Guardians of Childhood fusion, starring Emily Jane aka Mother Nature in the role of Luke Skywalker, Katherine aka Mother Goose as Leia Organa, Jack Frost as Han, Bunnymund as Chewie, North as Obi Wan, Sandy as Yoda, and Pitch as Vader.
- A Hunger Games ALTA AU where Katniss is the Avatar, born of Fire, highly skilled at lightning bending, but not a master of any element at all by the time she volunteers for the games.
- An Avengers POTC AU with Steve as Will, Natasha as Elizabeth, Clint as Norrington, Tony as Capt. Jack, and Loki as Barbossa. This was a Steve/Natasha ship because I started it right after CA: Winter Soldier came out.
- A Harry Potter/Star Wars crossover where, just after ROTJ, Luke, Leia, Han, Ahsoka and R2D2 end up somehow transported from the GFFA to Surry in 1988, meeting force sensitives Harry Potter and Dudley Dursley. This leads to several changes in the boys’ lives, and thus the magical world. (This was imagined pre-Rebels, so Ahsoka’s OT History was completely different than the new canon and, looking back, really dumb.)
- A massive Harry Potter/Percy Jackson/Hunger Games crossover where Voldemort and Snow helped Kronos take over, and Trelawny, current holder of the Oracle of Delphi, prophecied that Harry, Percy and Katniss would defeat them. (This was entirely based on fanart of these three together with a caption about defeating their different Big Bads.)
And so many more, but I think this is enough embarrassing myself for now.

Bright Sky: Book 1: The Brightest Sky: Chapter 2
My newest book series! ^w^ ~Bright Sky is a book series of a team of eight students powered with magic in the magical world of Magicalia in Magicalia Capital Academy. The newest member and the one who started this all is Clarice Mizu, a typical teenage girl with more behind her than she knows of. She has transferred schools, meeting her team of friends. After meeting Sora Wayde, Blossom Cath, Jack Blizzard, Cole MacKenzy, Drake Energie, Mae Aria and Amber Blaze, her life takes a turn for both the best and the worse as they all go on multiple adventures with each other, which will soon turn into serious situations that revolve around each person, especially Clarice.~ I am extremely proud of this book series, and more is to come! ……………………………………………………………………………………………….
Chapter 2: Meet The Teams
“Well I’m guessing the two of you met already…” A girl with dark raven purple hair in a ponytail commented as she fixed her black circular glasses. Clarice had to take note on who everyone was, so she looked at each person’s outfit. The girl had a violet colored mini cardigan with a lavender colored shirt underneath. She also wore forest green cotton and polyester shorts and pale orchid colored flats.
“You were the girl who SLAPPED me when I helped you!” The boy stared down at Clarice, Clarice being a few inches shorter than he was.
“And YOU were the boy who CRASHED into me playing basketball and who didn’t even respond when I said thank you! I know you heard me damnit!” Clarice stared up at him, not giving a damn if she was shorter.
“Hey, are you new?” A girl with messy and ruffled bangs of her short copper hair covering her forehead questioned as her jade eyes stared at Clarice. She wore a red flannel shirt that had one short sleeve and the other part of the other shoulder was sleeveless. Underneath the flannel, she had a neon red undershirt along with lavender jogging shorts and pale blue sneakers with fat white laces.
“Yeah, I am.”
“HA!”
The laugh came from a tall guy with navy blue hair in a ponytail and onyx eyes. He wore a stone gray polo shirt, long snowy white slacks and formal black shoes.
“The first day of school and already you are crashing into a new student. Geez you really are a dumbass, huh Sora?”
The boy with red hair turned toward the taller guy when he heard the sound of his name. As he realized who it was, he became enraged.
“Goddamnit! I forgot I’m going to be in a team with the school heartthrob version of Elsa…except way more lame than Elsa.”
Later on, both their faces got up near each other and they stared at each other, obviously disliking each other’s presence.
“Oh shut up you little shit! You know you have to shut your damn mouth before everyone catches your stupidity!”
“Of course I talk stupid like this, you little red haired bastard. How else would you understand what I say?!”
“BOTH OF YOU DUMBASSES SHUT UP.”
Everyone turned to a boy who was shorter than all of them on the team. He had dark skin, tree bark colored hair and moon colored eyes. He wore a tangerine colored sleeveless shirt with a turtleneck-like collar. He had pale khaki shorts and white shoes that looked like a silver mixed shade of white instead of how the color white normally looks. One unique thing about him was he had fingerless gloves that were the same color of his shirt.
“FRICKIN HELL CAN YOU GUYS NOT ARGUE FOR ONCE WHENEVER YOU MEET?!”
“Cole’s right. Guys can we please not fight? We just got together as a team and we are already arguing…” A quiet and gentle yet crystal clear voice came from the shortest girl of the team. She had tan skin, sunny blonde hair that was wavy yet separated into thick strands and sea foam green eyes. She wore a ruffled magenta long sleeve shirt and had a medium length cream colored skirt with pale pink ballet flats. She wore a silver pendant necklace and a light and pale blue headband with white polka dots.
“Well you guys probably hang out together already. The only one who actually just got together with you guys is me since you all know each other so well. I’m new so…” Clarice explained in her normal voice, but was actually extremely nervous. She was always shy and quiet at first around people, so she wasn’t used to acting her normal self until she got comfortable around them.
“Nah. We don’t hang out, we just know each other. We see each other and will talk from time to time, but I wouldn’t consider us close.” A tall pale skinned boy with messy orange hair and had eyes that were almost pitch black. He wore a thick golden yellow long sleeved sweater that had a turtleneck-like collar as well. He had black wool pants and black sneakers that were easy to slip on anytime.
“So I’m guessing we introduce ourselves,” The girl with the copper messy bangs stood up and had a very ecstatic and energetic tone in her voice. “I’m Amber Blaze!” Amber stuck her tongue out in a silly fashion as her hand glowed an immense heat that later bursted into a flame. “And I love to draw, bake, play guitar and trumpet, make crafts, write stories, draw art and I can control fire! If I can describe myself in a few words, I am energetic, random, silly, hyper, but I am also easily angered and I can easily get stressed… ”
“Ok let’s try to not burn anything, Amber.” The girl with dark Raven purple hair patted the energetic Amber on her head, leaving her with a cute and blank pout. “My name is Mae Aria. I am known to be kind of-Ok very introverted and I prefer being around a small group of people. I love writing stories and drawing as well. I also enjoy reading books, I am in a few anime and cartoon fandoms, and I enjoy making AMVS and edits based off those fandoms. I would describe myself as a sisterly figure to people, mature, smart, quiet, lowkey sassy, strict to the point where I act mean, but yet I can also be kind at times. Oh I almost forgot,” Mae flicked her wrist in a circle until two figures formed in the both of her palms. Soon enough the figures formed two shining purple guns. “I have weapon magic, but I chose to mainly focus on gun summoning.”
“You forgot that you are also very tough and scary, Mae. You are probably the devil herself except more heartless.” Jack added until Mae stared at him and pulled a trigger, a shining purple sphere nearly hitting him and slicing part of his ponytail off as it exploded into a small purple cloud. He looked away as sweat droplets began to trickle down his forehead.
“Scary…” Clarice thought to herself as she stared at Mae as Mae just went back to reading her book as if nothing happened.
“Anyway…My name would be Drake Energie. I like watching action movies and tv shows, playing video games, watching cartoons, and playing football. I think of myself as an extremely extroverted, insane and hilarious class clown. I get in trouble constantly and goof off a lot but it all pays off in the end for me.” Drake grinned mischievously as he used his hands to summon a small chunk of the floor, but dropped it back into its place, showing his abilities to control the earth and ground around him.
“No it doesn’t! You get detention almost every frickin’ day!” Cole commented in complete awe as he wore a completely shocked expression.
“How about you go next then, Mr. I Get In Trouble Cause I Can’t Control My Damn Mouth? You know I get in detention cause I see you there with me as well!”
“Shut up Jackass…Uhm. My name is Cole MacKenzy and I have electricity magic. Such as shown here,” Cole flicked a small electric bolt off his fingertip and struck Drake with it, pushing Drake off his chair as an aftershock went through his body. Clarice began chuckling in shock as everyone stared giving their own certain reactions. “Yeah, anyway. I enjoy video games such as shooting games or games that require violence, watching shows such as live action shows and action movies and obstacle course shows, making origami, breaking stuff, bacon and basically anything that is fun yet gets me into trouble…I guess I’m a badass and rebellious troublemaker who gives zero shits about what the teachers say.” Cole silently said those last few words, knowing Drake would poke at him for saying that.
“I heard that.”
“Stay on the fucking floor Drake.”
“My name is Jack Blizzard. And if you call me Jack Frost I will fucking kill you. I am known to be very neutral or emotionless but I am cool, calm, suave, confident, cocky and chill. But I can actually get easily aggressive and I am lowkey a dick. I can control ice and snow, which explains my calm and cool demeanor. I prefer doing whatever the hell these guys will drag me into.” Jack explained, his eyes closed as he was tossing an ice shard in the palm of his hand.
“He’s scary too…Just like Mae…Hey I wonder if they would make a nice couple?” Clarice couldn’t restrict her shipping fangirl side as she stared at Mae and Jack who looked so chill and annoyed at the same time.
“My name is Blossom Cath but you guys can call me Blossom. I can control Light and Wind Flowing magic. I am known as a very kind, polite and caring student who always gets good grades and despite my height, I am actually like a mother figure to a lot of people at this school! I enjoy making my own crafts and accessories, fashion and activities to do with nature. I also enjoy baking some sweets! Maybe I can make some brownies for you, Clarice.” Blossom smiled at Clarice as a small blush crawled to her cheeks of pure shyness.
“I know how these girls are like. She is a perfect example of a cinnamon roll…” Clarice flashed a smile back as a voice interrupted.
“Ok I’m going to introduce myself…and hopefully you won’t slap me midway my description,” Sora made a certain expression gesture towards Clarice as she stared back in an annoyed pout. “My name is Sora Wayde and I can describe myself as a balanced person when it comes to personalities. I am seen to be calm, mature, cocky and have a normal demeanor like Jack Frost over here, but I am mainly extroverted, talkative, friendly, outgoing, fiesty, aggressive and passionate when it comes to emotions.”
“Hey, isn’t Sora Japanese for ‘Sky’?” Clarice’s eyes gleamed with interest as a smile slowly grew on her cheeks.
“Yeah it is…I was surprised you knew that since nobody knew what my name meant except me. My name relates to my powers, which is the ability to control the weather OF the sky, so I’m not copying Blossom’s powers.”
“Well then…I have a new nickname for you from now on! I’m calling you Sky from time to time!”
“Oh please don’t,” Sora stared at Clarice in the same annoyed pout she wore earlier as Clarice responded with a confident and playful smirk with her tongue shyly sticking out. “You’re turn now.”
Clarice flashed a confident and comfortable smile after she got to know everyone and easily described herself with ease.
“My name is Clarice Mizu and I am a new student, obviously! I used to control water before I transferred and they took my power orb away from my body system. I am known to be very shy and quiet when you first meet me, but once I get comfortable around you I am actually very friendly, silly, loyal, bubbly, energetic, fiesty, sarcastic, boyish, outgoing, and easygoing! I am also a fangirl, shipper, and member of multiple fandoms. However, I consider myself an ambivert since I can hang out with friends and hang out with myself. I like playing video games, reading manga and comic books, watching cartoons and tv shows and anime, writing stories and drawing art, listening and singing to music, and playing sports especially basketball. However, I didn’t enjoy basketball when SOMEONE crashed into me.” Clarice explained, lowkey throwing shade at one of her new teammates.
“Still holding onto that, huh.”
“Still holding onto me slapping you, huh?”
Sora pouted again and Clarice stuck her tongue out again, except this time she had a huge, positive and confident smile. She never quickly gotten comfortable around a group of people before…or quickly felt welcome.
“Okay Clarice, here. Time to get your powers.” Mae handed Clarice a box full of little orbs that had element and certain symbols that represented what powers they had. Clarice was ready to go grab the blue one with a water symbol and swallow it until she felt a hand knock it out of her reach. It was Sora’s.
“What the hell was that for Sky?!” Clarice asked annoyed until Sora pushed her cheek to his left direction.
“Look.”
A seemed to be new student who just popped a magic orb into his mouth began choking. Sounds of hacking and coughs filled the room as the body collapsed, the orb rolling out of his mouth. Soon enough, the orb seemed to absorb a mist coming from the person’s mouth and it gave off a mist that seemed to spread. A bunch of people caught in the mist collapsed as well. Whatever that orb was giving off, it was contagious and spreading fast.
“Jack-ass!” Mae yelled, signaling Jack to use his powers as Jack stared at her in anger.
“DON’T CALL ME THAT.”
Jack made a thin ice shield surrounding his team as Clarice witnessed everyone falling to the ground surrounding their shield.
“Wha-What’s going on?” Blossom asked scared until Clarice instantly realized the events happening in its domino effect.
Those magic orbs got poisoned, and it’s poisoning everyone else as well.

Reprise (Chapter 21) [Frozen/Tangled/The Little Mermaid]
CHAPTER 21: Good to Sea
"Okay, I think I got it this time," Rapunzel said. "Andrina: blond, purple tail. Alana: also purple, black hair, loves gardening. Aquata: blue tail, brown hair. She's the oldest."
"I thought Attina was the oldest," Elsa said.
"Well, that's... the way mermaids give birth, it's kinda... complicated. That's part of the reason they're all sharing the queenship," Ariel said.
Rapunzel grunted. "Ooh, you made me lose my place."
"Sorry. If it's any consolation, I can only remember three: Attina, Adella, and Arista," Elsa said.
Ariel giggled. "If you can split them between the two of you, there won't be a problem."
Rapunzel laughed. "Give me a break, can't you? I'm exhausted. I've never swam this much in my life."
"That's because you're still swimming like a human," Ariel laughed. "Keep your arms down."
"We are going to be so fit when we're back to normal," Elsa muttered to Rapunzel.
A school of silver fish swam by. Each bowed its head, as much as a fish could bow, and said "Good day, Princess Ariel."
Ariel smiled. They still remembered her, even after all this time.
"Good morning," Ariel said.
A couple of thick-lipped groupers passed by. One was distinctly male and another female by its pink coloring.
"Good morning, Ariel. Where are you off to?" the male asked in a snobbish voice.
"The palace. I... I've got some new friends to introduce."
"Oh good. While you're at it, see if you can't get your sisters to get along. Those biddies are burbling better than a bloated blowfish."
Ariel kept swimming, now more nervous. The palace was the best place to hide from Arcius. It was protected, they had allies. Daddy always said no matter what, she could always go home.
But Daddy wasn't there anymore.
She forgot about it as Elsa started crimping her tail instead of undulating and she began meandering upward. Every once in a while, Elsa or Rapunzel would get off track and she had to pull them back. Still, they managed to get to the palace gates. The castle's foremost guard, a seahorse, met her at the entrance.
"Princess Ariel? You're back! I thought you joined the human world."
"I had," Ariel said. "But, well... things have changed for now. In the meantime, I can still go to the palace, right?"
"Right. I'll tell your sisters at once."
The seahorse beckoned to the royal page--a white sailfish who would deliver the message before they were halfway there.
"Ariel," Rapunzel said. "What about our ship? It's still docked on the island, isn't it?"
"I hope Arcius isn't petty enough to destroy it. But we can't simply return," Elsa said.
"I know," Ariel said. "I can ask some whales to tow it out of there, and then... where should we put it?"
"Can't drag it down here with us," Rapunzel said. "Kind of defeats the purpose of a boat."
"How about your castle's port?" Elsa asked.
"What would Eric do if a ship sailed into his port with no one on it?" Rapunzel queried.
Ariel snapped her fingers. "I know the perfect spot. There's a cute little grove on the north side of the promontory. And the cliff has a little crook inside where the boat can go."
Ariel communicated her desires to the seahorse, who nodded and said he would carry out their orders straight away. At that time, two walruses arrived to escort them through palace. Elsa couldn't help but grinning at their sashes and little hats.
A set of trumpet fish stood on each side of the large golden archway to the interior.
"Announcing, the return of her royal majesty, Princess Ariel."
Elsa and Rapunzel marveled at the architecture of it all. All around, merpeople swam in and out through the portals dotting the golden towers. There were no such things as doors. When one didn't have to worry about rain or wind or cold, shelter didn't mean as much. Maybe that was the reason everyone seemed so happy.
At least until they entered the royal chamber. Six figures lounged around at a kidney-shaped table. Some looked bored, some furiously scribbled on seaweed-colored scrolls. Each had a dour, petty expression.
"Ariel?" Adella asked.
"Ariel!" Arista said.
Four of them swam up from their seats to embrace her. The two at the ends, Attina and Aquata, were the last to rise. Ariel became the center of a hug sandwich.
"I missed you."
"We missed you," said one with a bright yellow tail. "Who are your new friends?"
"I will tell you all about it, I promise. This is Rapunzel and this is Elsa." Ariel gestured to each in turn.
"Are they okay?" Alana asked. "They're kinda... falling."
Elsa and Rapunzel were slipping to the floor. The two realized and fluttered their arms to stay up.
"We're okay, just tired," Rapunzel said.
Ariel never realized how exhausted they would be as new mermaids if they were too tired to stay afloat. "It was a really long swim. Can we give them some guest rooms to rest in? And food?"
Andrina nodded to a nearby servant, who took their hands in each of his fins.
"I'll catch up with you later." Ariel waved to them as they drifted down the hall.
"What are you doing back? Why did you have to take the trident?" asked Alana.
"I expect you'll return it when you're done," Attina said. She and Aquata stepped out from opposite sides of the table. They looked the most queen-like of all--respectable, serious, and weathered.
"I just need to borrow it for a little while longer. We found out there's some terrible-"
Aquata put her hand on her hip. "Who were those two?"
"They swim so awkwardly," said Attina. "Are they from Atlantica?"
"Well, not really..." Ariel said. "They're from... very far away."
"Ariel..." Aquata crossed her arms and tapped her fins. "If you always lied this badly, it's no wonder Daddy was always yelling at you."
Ariel sighed. "All right, they're human."
"Human?" Some gasped. "You brought humans down here?"
"That's what you wanted the trident for?" Adella asked.
"No! Not at all," Ariel said. "I didn't even know them when this started."
"So not only are they human, they're strangers," Attina said.
"If you would just listen-"
"What would Daddy say?" asked Aquata. "All he wanted was to keep our world safe and secret. If humans knew about us, our whole kingdom would be at stake. Our lives would end."
"Didn't you learn anything, Aquata?" Ariel said. "Humans are not bad. I mean, not all of them. They're just like us."
"But no one the surface knows that there are mermaids still, right?" Attina asked.
"Yes. That's still true," Ariel said. "And my friends have promised to keep the secret."
"Secret or not, the more people that know, the more chances it has to slip out," Attina said.
"Why are you acting this way?" Ariel asked. "Don't you trust me?"
"I guess I just don't know who you are anymore."
"I became a human. I married a human," Ariel said. "The whole reason I'm going through this is to get back to him."
"But you were born a mermaid," Aquata added. "You can't change that, no matter how you feel."
Ariel flexed her fingers around her trident.
"I'm afraid we have to get back to business. The Mermaid's Ball is just a day away, and there's still a lot to do." Attina gestured back to the conference room.
"The Mermaid's Ball?" Ariel's eyes brightened.
"Uh-huh," Andrina said in her squeaky voice. "It's going to be the best one yet. Are you going to come?"
"I-"
"It would be great if we were all there. All seven of us together again," Adella said.
"Don't worry about what they said." Arista waved her hand back. "You're still part of our family. And your friends are invited too."
"Okay," Ariel said. "I'll be there."
"You?" Aquata said. "You missed your own debutante concert because you were off exploring. Don't count on seeing her, girls. She was willing to never see us again so she could become human. Don't fall for the same thing twice."
Andrina turned back. "But-"
"Are you coming?" Attina yelled, already halfway back.
Adella, Alana, Arista, and Andrina followed Aquata and Attina back into the hall. Arista looked behind her as the doors shut and made a pitiful wave.
Ariel remained motionless, still gripping the trident. Her lower lip quivered. She swam off into the long hallway, to the fading blue haze at the end.
Someone knocked on Elsa's door. She pushed herself off the spongy bed and floated above it, next to the window... door... portal? The castle was built like Swiss cheese. It was so weird to think she could just swim out her window to leave. Maybe this was what a goldfish felt like, swimming through a giant stone castle full of holes.
Even if the gravity was different, day and night were mostly the same. A dark iron blue haze blanketed above. Down below, ambient light from glowing plants and bioluminescent fish kept the kingdom from pitch blackness.
Another rapping reminded Elsa about the knock. With a few twists, she righted herself and pulled down the giant calico scallop door.
Rapunzel stood there. "Hi. Can you sleep?"
Elsa shook her head. "I don't want to sleep. This world is too amazing."
"I know," Rapunzel squealed. "I'm having too much fun." She swam in a hoop, bubbles trailing her. "This is like a dream. I think it still might be."
"Maybe we died in the fall."
Rapunzel stopped swimming. "Elsa! Don't be so gloomy."
"You're right. If we were dead, the food would taste better."
"Yeah," Rapunzel said, holding her stomach. "I've never had kelp pasta before, but it was kind of bland and salty."
"I prefer the regular cucumber sandwiches. Not sea cucumber. It was presented well, though."
"And it must be full of energy. They don't eat any fish. No shrimp, no cod, no carp. But I haven't seen anyone with an ounce of fat. Swimming all day does wonders for the body." Rapunzel leaned in. "You want to go exploring?"
Elsa peeked out her door. Dead quiet from hall to hall. There might be unknown dangers lurking, but when would she ever explore a mermaid kingdom again?
"Let's do it," Elsa said.
The two of them swam out into the silent castle. Crab shells and starfish spotted every wall. Conch and spiral shells jutted out of gate points. Everything seemed to glow with an ambient effervescent twilight. And she had no idea where it was coming from.
The grand hall was bigger than Arendelle's opera house or Corona's theater. And explorable from top to bottom. Elsa smiled as she dragged her fingers across the rippled ceiling. The long table was irregularly built rock, like most things here. Against the wide wall was a balcony, with giant clam shells for lounging sofas.
"Look at these," Rapunzel said. She let herself fall into one. "They're huge. And so smooth."
Elsa looked out onto a seaweed forest as tall as trees. "Everything's so colorful. It makes my castle look like so drab."
They even had a gallery--art framed with strips of golden hydrozoa. Rapunzel marveled at the shades of blue within landscapes of sea volcanoes, sunken ships, and coral reefs. How they painted down here, they'd never know.
Rapunzel could have stayed there forever, but Elsa led her onward. They found some private rooms, possibly servants' quarters. If they were, every maidservant and steward had nothing to complain about. Every bed was as fine and plush as theirs.
They stopped at a door with a golden starfish on it. It was the first door they had seen in the palace, not a carved aperture.
"I wonder what's behind here," Rapunzel said. The thought didn't cross their minds that it was somewhere they weren't supposed to go. After seeing the grand hall, the trophy room, the balcony, it had to be something majestic. Rapunzel opened it.
"Oh," she said. "It's a closet."
A dustpan made from a scallop shell. A broom with thick tangly seaweed for bristles. Bottles made from nautilus shells.
"See? Even the closet is staggering," Elsa said.
They meandered to the lower levels where more industrial activities took place--metalwork, manufacturing, carpentry. Tools and unfinished pieces of stone lay in unorganized piles. The material was all too spiraled or gnarled or striped or tubular to recognize.
Then they came upon the treasury. A mountain of gold lay in a cave-like room. No guards, no doors. Just a carved out hole, like a burrowing animal had left it behind.
Elsa and Rapunzel dared not go inside, but they poked their heads in. Their lips puckered at the sight of it all--humongous pearls, candy red rubies, sea foam emeralds, arctic sapphires, and a beach's worth of silver and gold.
"That is... It's... there are no words..." Rapunzel said, swallowing.
Elsa nodded in silence. If anything was a dream, this was it.
"Have you noticed something?" Elsa asked. "There is no armory. No war room. No dungeon."
"Maybe we haven't found it," Rapunzel said.
"Maybe they don't need it. All I've seen are patrolling guards. And those are probably protecting from giant squids and killer whales."
Rapunzel bit her lip. Was Atlantica that perfect? Did they really have no war? No opposing nations bearing down on them, pressuring them into competition?
"I guess it would be hard to defend your castle when you can move all around it. You could just swim over the top and drop down."
Under the water, a siege army would have no meaning. Walls had no meaning. In such a culture, did that make war obsolete?
The two of them flutter-kicked up a ramp to the main floor. Elsa mused that in the human world it would be a staircase, but fish had no need for stairs. A little more sober, they wandered through decorated corridors.
Elsa stopped. "Do you hear that?"
"Music," Rapunzel said.
They followed the sound, until they found a magnificent dance hall. Mermaids, mermen, and fish of all kinds were decorating with streamers, ribbons, cut-out stars, and other party implements ornaments. The jazzy, soulful melody came from a corner, where a small red crab was conducting a five-piece band.
He held his hands to his ears. "No, no, no. Dat's all wrong, all wrong. Ace, have you been practicing your scales like I tell you?"
He pointed at a manta ray wearing sunglasses and holding a fishbone guitar.
"Just like always, Sebastian." He demonstrated a pentatonic lick. "I just don't feel comfortable with the instrument. I should be playing bass."
"Ink Spot," Sebastian said. "Only an octopus drumma cud be rushing and dragging at de same time."
The cepahalopod in the back shrugged all eight of his shoulders. "Why does it always gotta be the octopus playing drums? I can play other instruments too. Like sea cello, harmonica, trumpet..."
"We got a trumpet. But he keep running out of steam. Puffy!" Sebastian looked at a blowfish holding a trumpet.
"I'm calling myself P. Guppy now."
"Dese kids today," he muttered to himself. "Your bass is not soundin' as sharp, mon."
"It was a fluke. You can't blame me. I was up all night practicing." To demonstrate, he blew on his horn, ballooning into a sticker-laden sphere. The bright brass sound deflated into a squeaky trickle.
"And Diva Sea Lily, you're off key."
A beluga whale with black trim on her fins swung her hips. "I'm under a lot of pressure here. I don't sing as well without my autotuna."
Sebastian wiped his forehead. "Why don' we take a break for an hour?"
The band put down their instruments, making discordant sounds, and wandered away. Sebastian glumly sat on the edge of the platform. "Dis is going to be de worst Mermaid's Ball yet."
"Mermaid's Ball?" Rapunzel exclaimed.
Sebastian looked up. "Oh, I'm sorry. Were we making too much noise? Or not enough? It's not perfect yet, but we'll be ready in time or my name's not Horatio Thelonius Ignatius Crustaceus Sebastian. Tell de princesses we not gonna rest until every note sings out-"
"Whoa, whoa," Elsa said. "We're not mad. We were just looking for where the sound was coming from."
"We've never heard anything like it," Rapunzel said.
Sebastian wiped his brow. "Oh. I tought de princesses sent you for to spy on me."
"No, we're just... we've never heard of the Mermaid's Ball. But your music sounded wonderful," Rapunzel asked.
"Well, it's like I always say. De key to any event is that you got to create... de mood. Mermaids thrive on music. It brings everyone closer together. Everyting got life and harmony from music."
Elsa and Rapunzel recalled the times they caught Ariel humming to herself. "We've noticed."
"De Mermaid's Ball is one of de biggest parties Atlantica has all year. Next to de Party Gras, de Soundsational Extravaganza, Memorial to de Royals Day, the bi-annual Tidal Gala, and... we have a lot of parties, I guess."
Elsa sighed. "This place is a utopia. The people are so happy and content. There's no war, no hard work. All you do is have parties."
Sebastian nodded solemnly. "Atlantica didn't always used to be dis way. Ten years ago, de king banished all music from de sea kingdom. He was in mourning for his wife."
"Wow, I can't imagine a world without music," Rapunzel said.
"How would you even enforce that?" Rapunzel asked.
"He couldn't. Not for long. In fact," he whispered, "I was one of de biggest rascals dere was. You ever heard of De Catfish Club Band? I was de leader."
Elsa and Rapunzel shook their heads.
"No? How about Dizzy Crustace? De hottest performer in Eel-lectric City?"
Elsa and Rapunzel shook their heads again.
"Boy, you two must be from a different ocean. Where you swim in from?" Sebastian asked.
"No, we're from... um, up... up..." Rapunzel stammered.
"Up north. See the tail?" Elsa thrust out her ice-blue tail with the snowflake pattern on the fluke.
Sebastian shrugged. "Anyway, dere were underground clubs everywhere, playing music all night, sneaking in and out. After ten years de king finally come around. Before dat, he be mopin' all day like de sea slug. All he do is take a morning walk with his daughters and dat's it. Dis bossy governess would watch de girls. And I be out negotiating with de sprat and de smelt."
"He sounds like... kind of a tyrant," Elsa said.
"No! No, no. It's... I guess it's hard to explain." Sebastian shrugged. "He made me his royal court composer. I created all sorts of award-winning songs. Without me, music under de sea wouldn't be what it is today."
"What we heard sounded great," Elsa said. "The music in my kingdom is mostly somber violins. I can't wait to see what this ball is going to be like."
"Dis will be my biggest concert since de king died. It must be."
"Why?" Rapunzel asked.
"Everyone's unsure about the future. Atlantica spent so much time fearing humans, now no one's sure what to think. The princesses do more fightin' than rulin'. So dis Mermaid's Ball has got to be the best dat it can be. It seemed to all start when Ah-ree-el left. Dat girl was the sunshine in de ocean. Everywhere she went, she left a school of joyfish behind her. We shared so many adventures."
"But she's here right now. She came with us. Didn't you know?" Rapunzel said.
"She's back again? In de palace?!" Sebastian leapt off the stage and swam in a circle. "Well, why didn't you say so? Hey, did you hear? Princess Ariel's back!" he said to the others posting decorations around the hall.
"We know already. I just saw her in the courtyard," said a merman hanging a banner. "Jeez, come out of your shell once in a while."
"Dis," Sebastian said, "is just de kind of boost dis kingdom needs. It'll put de flush bock in everyone's fins." He swam off to find wherever his band. "Hey, guys, come back! We haff to practice twice as hard now."
Elsa turned to Rapunzel. "In the courtyard? She's not asleep?"
"Like we're supposed to be?" Rapunzel replied.
"I hope nothing's wrong. Let's see if we can find her."
After a quick swim around the castle, they found the courtyard. Situated at the rear, it looked much like a human one. Cement walkways wound through plots of sea anemones, coral sculptures, and tall statues. It was twice as big as either of their courtyards, and three times as lovely.
Ariel was sitting on a bench next to a patch of tall swaying seaweed. They spotted her red hair right away.
"Hey, guys," she said in a cheerless voice. "What are you doing awake?"
"We couldn't sleep," Rapunzel said. "It's too exciting down here. So much to see and do."
"But that can't be your reason. This is your home," Elsa said.
Ariel sighed. "It used to be. Everything's different now. This used to be Alana's garden. She loved gardening. It was the most beautiful thing in the courtyard. And with her pet sea turtle and all her other fishy friends, they loved it. One day there was a seaquake and the garden was ripped apart. But the next day, all her friends rebuilt it out of wildflowers and coral blossoms. It was dazzling." Ariel waved her hand through the sargasso and sighed. "I can tell she's not tending it anymore. The servants are taking care of it."
"Maybe she has a lot of work to do," Elsa said. "Being queen is tough."
"The six of them are sharing the queenship and they still can't get it right?" Ariel asked. "Alana loved beauty. She made her own skin cremes. She always said 'we daughters of Triton must look our best'. I bet Aquata doesn't do water sports anymore. Andrina doesn't joke anymore. Adella doesn't think about boys. They said they don't even know who I am anymore. I don't know who they are either."
"Are they mad because you went to the surface?" Rapunzel asked.
"But that was your choice, " Elsa said. "You had ambition to be more than a princess. You saw what you wanted and went for it."
"But I never thought about what I was giving up," Ariel said. "I was so fascinated with the human world, I never thought about what I was leaving behind."
Elsa and Rapunzel sat down beside Ariel. "You knew what you were doing. You knew that you'd never see your family again when you made that deal. But now you can!"
"It doesn't feel right," Ariel said. "When I made that bargain, I knew it was a sacrifice. Being here again seems... wrong. Like I'm violating some rule."
"My mother said," Elsa said, "the past is what makes you who you are now, but you don't have to let it define your future."
"That's the thing!" Ariel looked up with pleading eyes. "I don't know which is my future. Is it here? Is it on the surface?" She sighed. "I wonder if I should never have become human at all."
"No," Rapunzel scoffed. "You'd be miserable if you hadn't. Think of what you'd have missed out on. Like horse rides."
"And snow. And crocuses," Elsa said.
"And guitar music. And bonfires," Rapunzel said.
"And tall forests. And giant fields full of wheat that go on forever," Elsa said.
"And meeting a bunch of ugly guys at a pub and singing about your dreams," Rapunzel said. "Or maybe that's just me."
"Everyone in my kingdom wants me to learn more about being a queen. It's terrible. It means staying at home, researching, making orders, doing nothing fun. I might as well stay locked in a barrel of sea water."
"You know what? We can worry about all this later," Elsa said. She surprised herself with how optimistic she sounded. "We're still safe down here, right?"
Ariel brushed her bangs from her eyes. She sniffled and nodded.
"So while we've got time, is there anything we can do to figure out how to deal with Arcius. We need to find more about this 'grain of time'. It's the key to his power."
"Oh! The letter!" Rapunzel exclaimed. "You should check if you got a letter. Like the ones we got."
Ariel perked up. "I could ask Dudley. He's the court clerk. Handles all the important documents." She took the lead, swimming off in an arc. Rapunzel and Elsa kept up as she entered the golden palace again.
They followed her into what looked like a library archive. Rows of cubbies stretched back as far as the eye can see. An old sea turtle lay on the floor, snoozing in a basket. His thick gray eyebrows twitched, which, somehow, the reptile had.
"Dudley? Dudley?" Ariel said.
The sea turtle opened his eyes. "Eh... what?... oh..." He yawned. "Prin... cess... you..."
"Dudley, have there been any letters for me since I left?"
"Let...ters? ...no... not... since... your... wedding.... Eh... when... was... that?"
"Ariel," Elsa asked. "Is this place like a library?"
"Maybe there's material about Arcius or his magic or anything like that?" Rapunzel asked. "It's a long shot, but if the human libraries don't have anything, maybe you do."
"There wouldn't be anything about Temeris, but... ooh! I know. Dudley, listen."
"Eh... what-"
"Can you look through the archives for any information about 'sands of time'? I know it sounds poetic, but I think it's some sort of magic artifact. It can be used to change the past."
"And it's very small," Rapunzel said.
"And very rare," Elsa added.
"Sands... of... time? ...I... don't..."
"Great, thanks Dudley. You're still the best clerk Atlantica ever had." She kissed him on the cheek.
"Well..." Dudley's cheeks flushed red.
"Come on," Ariel said, swimming away. "While he's doing that, we have a ball to get ready for."
