What shows have you been watching lately? Miss seeing you on my dash, but I hope you're doing great!
Ahhhh that's so sweet! Honestly tumblr hasn't been all that fun for a while now. But for some reason I can't bring myself to delete this app or close my account. Every once in a while I would get a like for an old ask or post and I'm like damn. Had too many good memories and good times to close this account out.
And okay, don't laugh, but I've been so busy with my professional and personal life that I've fallen down the rabbit hole of old not-so-great TV shows. Namely, I've been binging One Tree Hill and ER 🤣
If you're curious, my fifteen years old self was right about OTH: Leyton is the worst, Brucas was so much better. And the whole show unravels fast after season 3 except for a few shining moments in season 4. But season 5 is borderline unwatchable that it took me forever to finish it and I'm procrastinating like hell on starting season 6.
My 15 years old self was also kinda right about ER: This show is fun as hell to watch and kinda slaps sometimes when it has no right to. But me disliking John Carter? Dumb as fuck. Pure shipping blindness.

The much-talked about production did not disappoint; the modernized visuals create many new layers to the show, and make you think about events and characters in a whole new way. Nehal, Allison, Justin, and Christia were probably my favorites, but the entire cast is so talented, it’s difficult to choose any as standouts. A very nice capture overall. There are a couple quick dropouts in act one, but no major blackouts. There is one head that can be seen occasionally, but it only blocks a small portion of the stage and only affects the action for about 20-30 seconds of the entire show. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent as usual. Includes curtain call and playbill scans. Les Misérables - Duisburg - 1996 (Pro-Shot's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (SD) CAST: Jerzy Jeszke (Jean Valjean), Hardy Rudolz (Javert), Cornelia Drese (Fantine), Deborah Dutcher (Cosette), Felix Martin (Marius), Sanni Luis (Éponine), Martin Berger (Enjolras), Tom Zahner (Thénardier), Anne Welte (Madame Thénardier), Willi Welp (The Bishop) Les Misérables - Dutch Revival - Spring, 2008 FORMAT:  MP4 (SD) CAST: René van Kooten (Jean Valjean), Wim van den Driessche (Javert), Nurlaila Karim (Fantine), Suzan Seegers (Cosette), Jamai Loman (Marius), Céline Purcell (Éponine), Freek Bartels (Enjolras), Gerben Grimmius (u/s Thénardier), Marjolein Algera (Madame Thénardier) NOTES: Complete show, Amateur capture A, Double dvd Les Misérables - Fifth National Tour - October 5, 2018 (hitmewithyourbethshot's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Nick Cartell (Jean Valjean), Josh Davis (Javert), Mary Kate Moore (Fantine), Jillian Butler (Cosette), Joshua Grosso (Marius), Paige Smallwood (Éponine), Matt Shingledecker (Enjolras), J Anthony Crane (Thénardier), Allison Guinn (Madame Thénardier), Sam Middleton (Gavroche), Cate Elefante (u/s Little Cosette), Matt Moisey (Grantaire), Monte J Howell (Combeferre), Tim Quartier (s/w Feuilly), Christopher Viljoen (Courfeyrac), Patrick Rooney (Jean Prouvaire), Gabriel Sidney Brown (Joly), Andrew Maughan (Lesgles), Felipe Barbosa Bombonato (Babet), John Ambrosino (Claquesous), Steve Czarnecki (Factory Foreman), Ashley Dawn Mortensen (Factory Girl), John Ambrosino (Bamatabois) Les Misérables - First Broadway Revival - November 11, 2006 FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Victor Hawks (u/s Jean Valjean), Norm Lewis (Javert), Daphne Rubin-Vega (Fantine), Ali Ewoldt (Cosette), Adam Jacobs (Marius), Celia Keenan-Bolger (Éponine), Aaron Lazar (Enjolras), Gary Beach (Thénardier), Jenny Galloway (Madame Thénardier), Jacob Levine (Gavroche), Drew Sarich (Grantaire) NOTES: A nice capture here of Victor as Valjean. The capture is a little on the dark side, but still enjoyable. Les Misérables - First Broadway Revival - February 17, 2007 FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Alexander Gemignani (Jean Valjean), Norm Lewis (Javert), Daphne Rubin-Vega (Fantine), Ali Ewoldt (Cosette), Adam Jacobs (Marius), Celia Keenan-Bolger (Éponine), Drew Sarich (u/s Enjolras), Gary Beach (Thénardier), Jenny Galloway (Madame Thénardier), Jacob Levine (Gavroche) NOTES: A really nice video of the first broadway revival. Widescreen. Cleaned up nicely in remastering. And it has Sarich. Les Misérables - First Broadway Revival - May 12, 2007 (Matinee) (jstarz's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Alexander Gemignani (Jean Valjean), Drew Sarich (u/s Javert), Lea Salonga (Fantine), Ali Ewoldt (Cosette), Adam Jacobs (Marius), Mandy Bruno (Éponine), Max von Essen (Enjolras), Gary Beach (Thénardier), Ann Harada (Madame Thénardier), Stephen Trafton (u/s Grantaire) NOTES: Filmed in widescreen (though encoded in 4:3, so there are bars at the top and bottom of the screen), this is a nice capture of some of the new cast members. Drew and Ann give great performances in their roles. The second disc also includes the first 15 minutes of the February 24, 2007 Evening show, filmed from the rear right orchestra. Les Misérables - First Broadway Revival - June 1, 2007 FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Alexander Gemignani (Jean Valjean), Ben Davis (Javert), Lea Salonga (Fantine), Ali Ewoldt (Cosette), Adam Jacobs (Marius), Marissa McGowan (Éponine), Max von Essen (Enjolras), Gary Beach (Thénardier), Ann Harada (Madame Thénardier) Les Misérables - First Broadway Revival - August 24, 2007 FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Drew Sarich (Jean Valjean), Robert Hunt (Javert), Nikki Renée Daniels (u/s Fantine), Ali Ewoldt (Cosette), Adam Jacobs (Marius), Megan McGinnis (Éponine), Max von Essen (Enjolras), Chip Zien (Thénardier), Becca Ayers (u/s Madame Thénardier), Brian D'Addario (Gavroche) NOTES: Some nice closeups/mediums. A nice capture of the new cast. Capture can be dark at times, but mostly in the darker scenes. Includes a technical difficulty when the Barricades first come out, the show is stopped and includes the announcement.. A- Les Misérables - Fourth UK & Ireland Tour - January, 2019 (House-Cam's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Killian Donnelly (Jean Valjean), Nic Greenshields (Javert), Katie Hall (Fantine), Bronwen Hanson (Cosette), Harry Apps (Marius), Tegan Bannister (Éponine), Will Richardson (Enjolras), Martin Ball (Thénardier), Sophie-Louise Dann (Madame Thénardier) Les Misérables - Hollywood Bowl - August 9, 2008 FORMAT:  WMV (HD) CAST: J Mark McVey (Jean Valjean), Brian Stokes Mitchell (Javert), Melora Hardin (Fantine), Michele Maika (Cosette), John Lloyd Young (Marius), Lea Michele (Éponine), Tom Lowe (Enjolras), Sage Ryan (Gavroche) NOTES: J. Mark McVey, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Lea Michele, Melora Hardin, John Lloyd Young, Michele Maika, Michael McCormick, Tom Lowe, Ruth Williamson. Les Misérables - Paris - 1991 FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Robert Marien (Jean Valjean), Patrick Rocca (Javert), Marie Zamora (Cosette), Jérôme Pradon (Marius), Stéphanie Martin (Éponine), Julien Combey (Enjolras), Laurent Gendron (Thénardier), Marie-France Roussel (Madame Thénardier) NOTES: Act 1 + finale of act 2. This is 100% NOT Louise Pitre playing Fantine Les Misérables - Second Broadway Revival - March 1, 2014 (Preview) (Highlights) (where is your red schaaaf's master) FORMAT:  MOV (HD) CAST: Ramin Karimloo (Jean Valjean), Will Swenson (Javert), Caissie Levy (Fantine), Samantha Hill (Cosette), Andy Mientus (Marius), Nikki M James (Éponine), Kyle Scatliffe (Enjolras), Cliff Saunders (Thénardier), Keala Settle (Madame Thénardier), Gaten Matarazzo (Gavroche) NOTES: First preview. It includes most of the show. Loud excited audience. Blind shot from stage right third row, with no zooms. Keala Settle sprained her ankle at some point between The Robbery and One Day More, resulting in her not being in One Day More and using a cane during Wedding Chorale/Beggars at the Feast. It’s refreshing to see different faces in the lead roles, and both Nathaniel and Earl carry the show well. Nathaniel’s vocals are powerful and he has a great rapport with Caissie and Samantha. A lovely capture overall with no obstruction. Look Down is mostly blacked out and there are a couple quick dropouts during The Bishop scene and Lovely Ladies, but the show is otherwise fully intact. There is also some washout in high contrast wide shots. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans. Les Misérables - Second Broadway Revival - July 1, 2015 FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Ramin Karimloo (Jean Valjean), John Rapson (u/s Javert), Erika Henningsen (Fantine), Melissa Mitchell (u/s Cosette), Chris McCarrell (Marius), Brennyn Lark (Éponine), Wallace Smith (Enjolras), Gavin Lee (Thénardier), Rachel Izen (Madame Thénardier), Sam Chuck (Gavroche), Joe Spieldenner (Grantaire), Weston Wells Olson (s/w Combeferre) NOTES: Act I begins at "The Runaway Cart" and nearly complete Act II. First time in history two same productions of a major musical played in the same city. Les Misérables - West End - May 9, 1987 (House-Cam's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (SD) CAST: Martin Smith (u/s Jean Valjean), Clive Carter (Javert), Kathleen Rowe McAllen (Fantine), Jacinta Mulcahy (Cosette), Maurice Clarke (u/s Marius), Jayne Draper (Éponine), Martin George (Enjolras), David Delve (Thénardier), Myra Sand (Madame Thénardier), Cameron Stewart (u/s Grantaire) NOTES: Commonly mistaken as December 28, 1988! Martin Smith was part of the West End cast for 6 months starting December 1986, and the non-circulated first-generation DVD labels the date as 1987/05/09. Les Misérables - West End - December 28, 1991 (House-Cam's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Stig Rossen (Jean Valjean), Paul Leonard (Javert), Jenna Russell (Fantine), Sarah Jane Hassell (Cosette), Daryll Winslow (Marius), Meredith Braun (Éponine), Mike Sterling (u/s Enjolras), David Hampshire (u/s The Bishop), Amanda Dainty (u/s Factory Girl) NOTES: Black and white. Audio is nice and clear. A more rare color version does exist. (Proof: https://youtu.be/KI_KHnLwk_k) Les Misérables - West End - May 6, 2006 FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Tim Godwin (u/s Jean Valjean), Cornell John (Javert), Kerry Ellis (Fantine), Julia Möller (Cosette), Hayden Tee (Marius), AJ Callaghan (u/s Éponine), Nolan Dark (u/s Enjolras), Barry James (Thénardier), Tracie Bennett (Madame Thénardier) NOTES: Taper’s comments: Amanda and Nolan are better than the principles and Tim sounds uncannily like JOJ (Home Counties accent not-withstanding). He first understudied in 1999, when JOJ was the principal, which may explain the similarity. About half of the Chain Gang song missing and filming starts in earnest during Valjean on parole. Other parts missed because of ushers include several random one-second cover-ups, part of the wedding and about half of Finale. Heads in the way sometimes block the action on the lower right of the stage, but they are shot around well. Vantage point provides some interesting views such as of Fantine during Lovely Ladies. Wonderful performances from the entire cast but especially then soon-to-be-Elphaba Kerry Ellis. Les Misérables - West End - September 19, 2013 FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Daniel Koek (Jean Valjean), James Gant (u/s Javert), Na-Young Jeon (Fantine), Samantha Dorsey (Cosette), Rob Houchen (Marius), Carrie Hope Fletcher (Éponine), Anton Zetterholm (Enjolras), Cameron Blakely (Thénardier), Wendy Ferguson (Madame Thénardier), Ilan Galkoff (Gavroche), Caoimhe Judd (Little Cosette) Les Misérables - West End - June 14, 2014 FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Daniel Koek (Jean Valjean), Tam Mutu (Javert), Na-Young Jeon (Fantine), Samantha Dorsey (Cosette), Dougie Carter (Marius), Carrie Hope Fletcher (Éponine), Anton Zetterholm (Enjolras), Cameron Blakely (Thénardier), Wendy Ferguson (Madame Thénardier), Carl Mullaney (Grantaire) NOTES: Final performance of the 2013/14 cast Les Misérables - West End - July 9, 2015 (Highlights) (musicalmania123's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Peter Lockyer (Jean Valjean), Jeremy Secomb (Javert), Rachelle Ann Go (Fantine), Zoe Doano (Cosette), Rob Houchen (Marius), Carrie Hope Fletcher (Éponine), Bradley Jaden (Enjolras), Phil Daniels (Thénardier), Katy Secombe (Madame Thénardier) NOTES: Highlights only. FOM BLOG: LEYTON ORIENT 2-0 GILLINGHAM - 2021 / 2022 - PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY
My Thoughts On Leyton Orient 2-0 Gillingham - Pre-Season Friendly - 2021 / 2022.
When Leyton Orient had announced there home pre-season friendly fixture against Gillingham, I was actually looking to go to the game because Brisbane Road isn’t far from Leyton Tube Station and this would have been a decent pre-season friendly fixture to go to (especially when Gillingham’s pre-season friendlies against QPR, Peterborough United, Dartford, Ebbsfleet United and Tunbridge Wells were all called off), However, Leyton Orient mentioned on there official website a month ago that there was a cap of 2,000 supporters and no away fans could go to this fixture, and it was only in the past few days where it was announced that Gillingham Supporters could go to Leyton Orient V Gillingham, But by the time that announcement was made, I had already ruled myself out of going to Brisbane Road, And I think quite a few Gillingham Supporters had also had other alternative plans made because away supporters couldn’t go to this fixture.
But whilst I didn’t go to Leyton Orient V Gillingham, I did take up the option of paying just £3 to watch the match on a live-stream, and although I am essentially relying on one camera angle, there was no technical issue’s with this one camera, and all I had to do was create a new account on The Leyton Orient Website, fill in the important details, And I was able to watch the live-stream of our latest pre-season friendly against Leyton Orient.
Eventually, Gillingham’s Team News Appeared On Twitter, And Gillingham Lined Up As Follows………. Aaron Chapman, Harvey Lintott, Christian Maghoma, Max Ehmer, David Tutonda, Stuart O’Keefe, Trialist, Tralist, Olly Lee, Trialist, John Akinde Substitutes: Jamie Cumming (GK), Trialist (GK), Trialist, Jack Tucker, Rhys Bennett, Bailey Akehurst, Sam Gale, Kyle Dempsey, Ben Reeves, Daniel Phillips, Danny Lloyd, Vadaine Oliver and Gerald Sithole - Ryan Jackson, Robbie McKenzie and Alex MacDonald were all not named in the match-day for this latest pre-season friendly against Leyton Orient.
However, I was surprised to see Christian Maghoma start for Gillingham, especially when we have been told from Steve Evans that Christian Maghoma is surplus to requirements, two of the three players on trial in the starting line up we know are Mustapha Carayol and Rob Hall, Because both players played for Gillingham against Millwall On Tuesday Night, I am not sure on who the third player on trial is in the starting line up, But apparently, The Goalkeeper on the bench for Gillingham was Dion-Curtis Henry, who was last playing for Billericay Town In The Conference South.
John Akinde starts for Gillingham, And I thought that John Akinde was going to start for Gillingham when Gillingham sent A Gillingham XI Side Down To Ramsgate On Wednesday Night, John Akinde will get an opportunity to build up his match fitness and match sharpness levels before the season starts with this starting appearance for Gillingham against Leyton Orient, Because with Dominic Samuel and Tyreke Johnson both leaving the football club, Gillingham only have Vadaine Oliver, John Akinde and Gerald Sithole as our attacking options in the first team.
Kenny Jackett was appointed as Leyton Orient Manager in the off season, And Leyton Orient have signed Theo Archibald, Harry Smith, Tom James, Connor Wood and Paul Smyth, But it is the signings of Omar Beckles and Darren Pratley that really stand out for Leyton Orient and although I do think there are more signings to come, Appointing Kenny Jackett as Manager is probably Leyton Orient’s best signing, Because I think Kenny Jackett’s appointment could well see Leyton Orient challenge for a playoff position in League Two This Season.
Both Gillingham and Leyton Orient were out on to the pitch ready and waiting for kick off, I could hear The Gillingham Supporters cheer the players out on to the pitch and a good number of Gills Fans had made the trip to Brisbane Road, despite the short notice that away supporters could go to this fixture, hopefully, those who went to Brisbane Road are rewarded with a decent performance and a decent result - COME ON THE GILLS!!!!!!!!!
FIRST HALF:
Gillingham make a very encouraging start to the match when Mustapha Carayol’s cross from the left side of the pitch in Leyton Orient’s Final Third is charged down by Tom James at the expense of conceding a corner kick, and from the resulting corner kick, Rob Hall whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross towards the far post, which is over-hit, And Max Ehmer was unable to keep the ball in play as the ball goes out of play for A Leyton Orient Throw On in there own final third.
Three Minutes Into The Match, And David Tutonda is penalised for a foul on Ruel Sotiriou, And Leyton Orient have been awarded a free kick in a promising position on the pitch, and from the resulting free kick, Dan Kemp has whipped in a high and hanging cross and Aaron Chapman was able to gather the ball with ease, and from here, Aaron Chapman kicks the ball long down-field, And John Akinde wins the aerial challenge to header the ball down towards Mustapha Carayol, And Mustapha Carayol takes a few touches in possession of the ball, works his way into a shooting position before firing a low effort wide of the far left post - although I do think that Lawrence Vigouroux would had saved Mustapha Carayol’s shot if the shot was on target - but something for Gillingham to work on though.
Six Minutes Into The Match, And Harvey Lintott manages to header Dan Kemp’s dangerous in-swinging cross clear and away from goal, And Stuart O’Keefe is penalised for a foul on Darren Pratley, And Leyton Orient have been awarded a free kick twenty five yards from goal, and from the resulting free kick, Leyton Orient had the chance to open the scoring, Tom James has a fired a fiercely driven effort towards goal which clears Gillingham’s Defensive Wall, but also clears the crossbar as well - I think Aaron Chapman would have had that effort from Tom James covered if that effort on goal was on target.
Eight Minutes Into The Match, And Leyton Orient create another decent goal-scoring opportunity to try and take the lead, Dan Happe kicks a long diagonal cross-field cross towards Ruel Sotiriou, who manages to get to the ball ahead of David Tutonda down the left side of Gillingham’s Penalty Area, And Ruel Sotiriou gets the ball under control and passes the ball back towards Craig Clay, And Craig Clay whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross first time and the player on trial for Leyton Orient headers the ball wide of the far left post - AND THAT WAS THE CHANCE FOR LEYTON ORIENT TO TAKE THE LEAD!!!!!!! - Christian Maghoma and Max Ehmer couldn’t mark the player on trial, but I have to say that the defending from David Tutonda was suspect to allow the cross-field cross from Dan Happe to pick out Ruel Sotiriou inside Gillingham’s Penalty Area.
Ten Minutes Into The Match, And David Tutonda manages to block Craig Clay’s dangerous in-swinging cross and although Aaron Chapman manages to gather the ball, Aaron Chapman was unable to prevent the ball from going behind for A Leyton Orient Corner Kick, And From The Resulting Corner Kick, Dan Kemp whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross towards the far post and Mustapha Carayol headers the ball clear and away from danger at the expense of conceding a corner kick, and from the resulting corner kick, Dan Kemp whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross inside the six yard box and Dan Happe’s flicked header towards goal is headed over the crossbar, but David Tutonda must have got the faintest of touches on the ball to header the ball over, Because Leyton Orient were awarded another corner kick, and from the third corner kick, Dan Kemp whips in another dangerous in-swinging cross, and Christian Maghoma manages to header the ball partially clear and away from goal, and the ball falls fortuitously into John Akinde’s Path outside Gillingham’s Penalty Area, And John Akinde runs forwards in possession of the ball and looks to start a counter attack for The Gills, However, Hector Kyprianou times his challenge to perfection on John Akinde and manages to intercept the ball, Craig Clay then passes the ball out-wide to Dan Kemp down the left side of the pitch in Gillingham’s Final Third, And Dan Kemp whips in a low dangerous in-swinging cross towards the near post, And David Tutonda on the stretch manages to clear the ball out of play for another Leyton Orient Corner Kick.
But it was from this corner kick where Leyton Orient took the lead, Dan Kemp whips in a high and hanging cross towards the far post and there was a mix up between Christian Maghoma and Goalkeeper Aaron Chapman and Dan Happe headers the ball back across the face of goal and Omar Beckles has fired the ball into the far right corner of the net to give Leyton Orient the lead, and both centre back’s have played a crucial role in ensuring that Leyton Orient take the lead - LEYTON ORIENT 1-0 GILLINGHAM.
Terrible mix up between Christian Maghoma and Aaron Chapman which allowed Leyton Orient to take the lead after a succession of corner kicks for the hosts, I do think that regardless of how well he performs for Gillingham against Leyton Orient that Christian Maghoma will be signing for another club in the next few weeks, but defensive error’s like that one, even though it is a combined error from Christian Maghoma and Aaron Chapman, isn’t going to help Christian Maghoma get the move he is hoping for, Because Christian Maghoma will surely be fifth choice centre back behind Jack Tucker, Max Ehmer, Rhys Bennett and Robbie McKenzie, who can play centre back if and when required to do so.
The next attacking opportunity see’s Leyton Orient looking to extend there lead further when Craig Clay almost manages to pick out Ruel Sotiriou with a threaded through-ball which thankfully was over-hit and the ball goes out of play for A Gillingham Throw On, And In The Sixteenth Minute Of The Match, Leyton Orient were awarded a free kick when Christian Maghoma is penalised for a foul on Darren Pratley, And Leyton Orient have been awarded a free kick in a promising position on the pitch, and from the resulting free kick, Leyton Orient had the chance to go 2-0 up when Tom James whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Dan Happe’s looping header was comfortably saved by Aaron Chapman.
Nineteen Minutes Into The Match, And Gillingham had a half chance to try and find the equaliser, David Tutonda has possession of the ball for Gillingham in a left / central position on the pitch, And David Tutonda has passed the ball centrally towards Olly Lee, and Olly Lee takes one touch to control the ball and another touch to hit a very tame shot that goes wide of the left hand post - But Lawrence Vigouroux would have had Olly Lee’s shot covered if Olly Lee’s shot towards goal was on target.
Twenty One Minutes Into The Match, And Rob Hall has whipped in a dangerous in-swinging cross towards the far post and although Dan Happe wins the initial aerial challenge to prevent John Akinde from getting on to the end of Rob Hall’s cross, Mustapha Carayol had ghosted in at the far post to pull the ball back across the face of goal and John Akinde could not get on the end of Mustapha Carayol’s cross and Rob Hall was penalised for a foul on Connor Wood, And Leyton Orient have been awarded a defensive free kick.
Twenty Two Minutes Into The Match, And Aaron Chapman kicks the ball long down-field and John Akinde has won the aerial challenge to flick the ball on towards Olly Lee, But John Akinde’s header was too long for Olly Lee to get on to the end of, and Lawrence Vigouroux makes a routine save in goal for Leyton Orient, and in the same minute, Ciaran Dickson times his challenge to perfection on Ruel Sotiriou at the expense of conceding a corner kick for Leyton Orient - for reference, Ciaran Dickson was wearing Number 21, Mustapha Carayol Number 14, And Rob Hall Number 25 for the three players on trial for Gillingham - and from the resulting corner kick, Dan Kemp has whipped in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Hector Kyprianou’s header towards goal forced Aaron Chapman to make an important save to keep Gillingham in this match at 1-0 down.
Harvey Lintott was then through on goal down the right side of Leyton Orient’s Penalty Area, But Connor Wood had timed his challenge to perfection and Leyton Orient clear there defensive lines and we’re just starting to see a bit more from Gillingham, Even though Lawrence Vigouroux hasn’t been severely tested in-between the sticks, But In The Twenty Seventh Minute Of The Match, Rob Hall manages to win Gillingham a free kick within shooting territory, and credit must go to Rob Hall, Because there was no passing option available, and to win Gillingham a free kick when it looked very likely that Leyton Orient were going to intercept the ball and hit Gillingham on the counter attack has to be commended, and from the resulting free kick, Olly Lee and Rob Hall were both standing over the ball, And Olly Lee leaves the ball for Rob Hall to hit a curling effort towards goal which Lawrence Vigouroux had to parry away from goal and Leyton Orient manage to get the loose ball clear and away from danger - At least Rob Hall has forced Lawrence Vigouroux to make a save, maybe something for Gillingham to build on throughout the rest of the first half ???
Max Ehmer and David Tutonda have both had to clear the ball out of play for A Leyton Orient Throw On, on one occasion each, as Leyton Orient target the left side of Gillingham’s Defence, and from the third throw on, Tom James long throw for Leyton Orient is flicked on by Omar Beckles and Aaron Chapman is forced to make another save in goal for Gillingham to keep Gillingham in this match at 1-0 down, and Aaron Chapman is forced into action a minute later when Dan Happe’s long ball down-field almost picks out Ruel Sotiriou, but the long ball from Dan Happe is over-hit and runs through to Aaron Chapman.
Aaron Chapman kicks the ball long down-field and John Akinde wins the initial aerial challenge to flick the ball on towards Olly Lee, but John Akinde’s flick on is too long for Olly Lee to get on the end of and the ball goes out of play for A Leyton Orient Goal-Kick, The big problem Gillingham have got is the fact that neither Rob Hall or Mustapha Carayol are getting the ball down and taking players on and giving Leyton Orient something to be concerned about in the wide area’s of the pitch.
Thirty Three Minutes Into The Match, And Leyton Orient are causing Gillingham problems down our left side when Tom James takes on David Tutonda and whips in a dangerous low cross across the face of goal which Ruel Sotiriou cannot get on the end of and the ball goes out of play for A Gillingham Goal-Kick, David Tutonda is struggling at Left Back, But David Tutonda isn’t exactly getting much help from Mustapha Carayol either, And David Tutonda is playing like A Left Wing Back to get higher up the pitch to try and close Tom James down earlier, David Tutonda is going higher up the pitch and Max Ehmer is playing as Centre Back who occasionally has to fill in at Left Back to cover the space in and behind David Tutonda.
Aaron Chapman then kicks the ball long down-field and Omar Beckles is penalised for a push in the back on John Akinde, And Gillingham have been awarded a free kick, much to the delight of The Gillingham Supporters In The Away End who cheered the decision to give Gillingham a free kick, and from the resulting free kick, Gillingham had the chance to score an unlikely equaliser, Mustapha Carayol passes the ball short to Olly Lee out-wide down the left side of the pitch in Leyton Orient’s Final Third, And Olly Lee takes a touch to control the ball before firing in a dangerous low cross which Lawrence Vigouroux was able to save, all be it with some difficulty, Because all it needed was a faint touch off A Gillingham or Leyton Orient Player, And Olly Lee’s dangerous low cross could have ricocheted into the back of the net for 1-1.
But the next passage of play see’s Leyton Orient extend there lead to 2-0, Lawrence Vigouroux passes the ball short to Omar Beckles, And Omar Beckles runs forwards in possession of the ball before passing the ball out-wide to Ruel Sotiriou down the right side of the pitch, And Ruel Sotiriou cuts inside into a more central position on the pitch before passing the ball back towards Craig Clay, And Craig Clay passes the ball out-wide to Tom James, And Tom James takes a touch to control the ball before passing the ball square towards Dan Happe, And Dan Happe takes a touch to control the ball before passing the ball out-wide to Connor Wood, And Connor Wood passes the ball back towards Dan Happe, And Dan Happe takes a few touches in possession of the ball before passing the ball forwards towards Ruel Sotiriou, And Ruel Sotiriou was being double marked by Rob Hall and Ciaran Dickson, And Dan Kemp is on to the loose ricochet and passes the ball back towards Darren Pratley, And Darren Pratley passes the ball square to Dan Happe, Dan Happe then plays a one / two with Hector Kyprianou before taking a few more touches in possession of the ball and Dan Happe’s squared pass towards Omar Beckles is almost intercepted by John Akinde and Omar Beckles passes the ball square to Darren Pratley, Darren Pratley then runs forwards in possession of the ball before passing the ball back towards Dan Happe, And Dan Happe passes the ball inside centrally towards Hector Kyprianou on the halfway line, And Hector Kyprianou threads a through-ball through to Craig Clay, And Craig Clay manages to retain possession of the ball despite the attempted challenge from Mustapha Carayol, And Craig Clay manages to pick out Connor Wood with a cross-field cross pass down the left side of the pitch, And Connor Wood takes a touch to control the ball before passing the ball down the line towards Dan Kemp, And Dan Kemp fires in a first time low cross and the player on trial for Leyton Orient manages to pick out the top right corner of the net with a neat first time finish and Leyton Orient are now winning 2-0 against Gillingham. - LEYTON ORIENT 2-0 GILLINGHAM.
If your A Leyton Orient Supporter, you will be talking about that passage of play and all the passing and movement in the build up to that goal, and rightfully so as well, But I have to say that the defending from Gillingham for that goal was poor, the player on trial for Leyton Orient was quickest to react to Dan Kemp’s low cross to stick the ball into the back of the net, and some of the challenges from a few Gillingham Players was very half hearted indeed, Leyton Orient are celebrating this goal on Twitter, But a bit of prospective is needed, Leyton Orient V Gillingham is only Gillingham’s Fourth First Team Pre-Season Fixture, Rob Hall, Ciaran Dickson and Mustapha Carayol are on trial, Christian Maghoma has hardly featured for Gillingham in pre-season, Although David Tutonda’s performance has been disappointing, David Tutonda has only played for Gillingham against Welling United in pre-season, and you can see how disjointed Gillingham are with a make-shift starting line up.
Look, the goal Gillingham have conceded is poor, the lack of intensity and the lack of putting in any type of challenge to try and disrupt that passing move for Leyton Orient is concerning, and Gillingham are also 2-0 down and we fully deserve to be losing as well, I would be very very concerned if that goal was conceded and Gillingham had Cumming, Jackson, Ehmer, Tucker, O’Keefe, Dempsey, Reeves, Lloyd and Oliver all starting, Because then you can point out that Gillingham have named close to what our starting line up would be against Lincoln City On The Seventh Of August.
Thirty Nine Minutes Into The Match, And Connor Wood has fired in a low dangerous cross and Christian Maghoma on the stretch clears the ball out of play for A Leyton Orient Corner Kick, And From The Resulting Corner Kick, Dan Kemp whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Christian Maghoma and David Tutonda between the two of them manage to clear the ball away from goal, Forty Minutes Into The Match, And Max Ehmer times his challenge to perfection on Ruel Sotiriou at the expense of conceding a corner kick - another error from David Tutonda, who really has struggled for Gillingham in the first half so far - and from the resulting corner kick, Dan Kemp whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross towards the far post and John Akinde headers the ball clear and away from goal, And Gillingham are trying to keep the score-line down to 2-0, and from what we have seen from Gillingham so far in this match, it is looking very unlikely that Gillingham will score against Leyton Orient.
And as we are reaching the closing stages of the first half, David Tutonda tried to pick out John Akinde with a dangerous in-swinging cross and Dan Happe headers the ball clear and out of play for A Gillingham Throw On, And Hector Kyprianou manages to whip in a dangerous high and hanging cross and Max Ehmer manages to header the ball clear, But just as we start to reach stoppage time at the end of the first half, Tom James is penalised for a foul on David Tutonda, And Gillingham have been awarded a free kick in a promising position on the pitch, And Gillingham had the chance to half the deficit just before half time, and from the resulting free kick, Mustapha Carayol whips in a high and hanging cross and Dan Happe wins the initial aerial challenge and Darren Pratley clears the ball away from danger and that was the final noteworthy moment of the first half, and the half time score at Brisbane Road Is Leyton Orient 2-0 Gillingham.
HALF TIME: LEYTON ORIENT 2-0 GILLINGHAM
I uploaded the following status update on to Social Media,,,,,,, HALF TIME: LEYTON ORIENT 2-0 GILLINGHAM - Leyton Orient are winning 2-0 at the break with goals from Beckles and a player on trial for Orient, first goal see's a mix up between Maghoma and Chapman from Kemp's cross from a corner, the ball is headed across goal and Beckles scores. And the second goal see's Wood pass the ball down the line towards Kemp, And Kemp has fired in a first time dangerous cross, and the player on trial for Orient scores with a neat first time finish, Leyton Orient have been the much better side in the first half.
Gills started the match with some promise when Carayol wins a corner kick inside a minute, which unfortunately doesn't result in a goal-scoring opportunity, Carayol failed to hit the target with a low effort towards goal. James also fired a free kick over the crossbar for Orient, Leyton Orient then won four corner kicks in a row which resulted in Beckles opening the scoring, Olly Lee's low effort towards goal goes wide of the far post, and Carayol's ball across the face of goal does not pick out Akinde, Chapman saves Beckles Header From Kemp's Cross. 25 saw his shot on goal saved by Vigouroux, And I think Number 25 has been the best player out of the three players on trial who have started for Gillingham Today, Need to see much more from Gillingham in the second half, Because we have not tested Orient Defensively.
First Half Performance has been poor, Gillingham’s Starting Line Up is very disjointed with Rob Hall, Ciaran Dickson and Mustapha Carayol on trial, David Tutonda has really struggled for Gillingham in the first half, But he has hardly played for Gillingham in pre-season, Christian Maghoma starts in defence having not played for Gillingham in any of the previous pre-season matches, and youngster Harvey Lintott started at Right Back, John Akinde is getting no service or support, And Leyton Orient look like a side who have played four or five more pre-season friendlies and there further along in there pre-season preparations.
But the defending for the second goal was very poor, yes, Leyton Orient have had possession of the ball and they will understandably say it’s a great goal, But Gillingham let Leyton Orient keep the ball in Orient’s own final third, still, the lack of intensity and not putting a foot in is something to be concerned about, and we have to see an improvement for Gillingham in the second half, otherwise, Leyton Orient will win this match 5-0, Hopefully, we will see an improved performance and we will see Gillingham get something out of this match against Leyton Orient In The Second Half - COME ON THE GILLS!!!!!!
SECOND HALF:
Leyton Orient make a substitution at half time when Jayden Sweeney comes on to replace Connor Wood, no substitutions for Gillingham, So my guess is that Gillingham will make wholesale changes either after sixty minutes, or, after sixty five minutes of the match, But one thing we have got to see from the players who started this match is more intensity, more pressure put on to Leyton Orient’s Back-Line, and we need to see more service and support for John Akinde, Because John Akinde has ben on his own in attack for The Gills and hardly had a kick of the ball.
And Gillingham made a encouraging start to The Second Half when Rob Hall’s cross was charged down by Dan Kemp at the expense of conceding a throw on, and from the resulting throw, Harvey Lintott throws the ball short to Ciaran Dickson, And Ciaran Dickson takes a touch to control the ball before passing the ball out-wide to Stuart O’Keefe, And Stuart O’Keefe whips in a low dangerous cross towards John Akinde, And Omar Beckles has cleared the ball out of play for A Gillingham Throw On with a headed clearance, And In The Forty Seven Minute, Jayden Sweeney is penalised for a foul on Olly Lee and Gillingham have been awarded a free kick, which Gillingham do not really create a chance of note from, But Ciaran Dickson manages to win Gillingham a throw on in Leyton Orient’s Final Third, As Gillingham try to give Leyton Orient something to be concerned about defensively, and despite the improved performance at the start of the second half, Gills haven’t tested Lawrence Vigouroux to make a decent save in goal for Leyton Orient.
However, From The Resulting Throw On, Gillingham almost manage to take the lead, Harvey Lintott throws the ball down the line and as the ball bounces high off the turf, Olly Lee does exceptionally well to keep the ball in play by hooking the ball across the face of goal and Tom James chests the ball down before sliding in to desperately clear the ball off the goal-line, And Tom James almost scores an own goal for Leyton Orient, And 2-1 down would have brought Gillingham back into this match.
Fifty Minutes Into The Match, And Tom James’s dangerous in-swinging cross was headed clear by Christian Maghoma just when it looked likely that Ruel Sotiriou was going to get on the end of Tom James’ Cross and Jayden Sweeney was penalised for fouling Mustapha Carayol and Gillingham have been awarded a free kick, which just relieves the pressure building on to our own goal, And From The Resulting Free Kick, Ciaran Dickson tries to thread a through-ball through to John Akinde which John Akinde almost gets on to the end of, But Lawrence Vigouroux was able to gather the ball, all be it, with some difficulty, And In The Fifty Second Minute Of The Match, Max Ehmer kicks the ball long down-field and Omar Beckles wins the initial aerial challenge up against John Akinde, and as the ball drops back down from the air, Rob Hall has smashed a fiercely driven effort towards goal which hits the top of The North Stand - A Ambitious Effort Towards Goal From Rob Hall - Who I have to say is probably the best performing player out of the three players on trial for The Gills.
Fifty Three Minutes Into The Match, And Max Ehmer’s Long Ball Towards John Akinde was saved by Lawrence Vigouroux, And both Omar Beckles and Dan Happe have comfortably dealt with the threat from Akinde, mostly because John Akinde has been isolated and Olly Lee, Rob Hall and Mustapha Carayol haven’t got close to John Akinde to provide him with service or support, But In The Fifty Fifth Minute Of The Match, Gillingham were awarded a free kick when Darren Pratley had gone into the back of John Akinde, And Gillingham have the chance to create a decent goal-scoring opportunity here, and from the resulting free kick, Olly Lee whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross low towards the far post, and neither Mustapha Carayol or Max Ehmer can either direct the ball towards goal or direct the ball across the face of goal to pick out a team-mate, and the ball has gone out of play for A Leyton Orient Goal-Kick - I actually thought that Mustapha Carayol was in a great position to header the ball towards goal and that was the chance for Gillingham to get themselves back into this match at 2-1 down.
And In The Fifty Ninth Minute Of The Match, Gillingham had half hearted appeals for a penalty kick turned down, Gillingham have a throw on down the left side of the pitch and David Tutonda throws the ball long down the line towards Olly Lee, And Olly Lee wins the aerial challenge to header the ball inside Leyton Orient’s Penalty Area and Rob Hall is challenged by Jayden Sweeney, And Rob Hall does go down to the deck inside Gillingham’s Penalty Area, and despite the penalty appeal from John Akinde, play continue’s with Leyton Orient in possession of the ball - My first reaction was no penalty, had I been in the away end and seen that challenge from Jayden Sweeney from a different angle, I might have thought differently.
The game was just starting to break up with Stuart O’Keefe both winning and conceding a free kick, And David Tutonda has kicked two long balls down-field which was comfortable for  Lawrence Vigouroux to deal with, Leyton Orient then bring on Theo Archibald for the player on trial in The Sixty Second Minute, And In The Sixty Third Minute, Harvey Lintott is penalised for a foul on Dan Kemp, And Leyton Orient have been awarded a free kick, and from the resulting free kick, Dan Kemp has whipped in a dangerous low cross and Aaron Chapman has gathered Dan Kemp’s low cross with some difficulty.
Sixty Seven Minutes Into The Match, And Max Ehmer comes across to block Ruel Sotiriou’s attempted cross at the expense of conceding a corner kick, and from the resulting corner kick, Tom James whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Christian Maghoma manages to header the ball clear and away from danger, and Leyton Orient are penalised for a foul on Ciaran Dickson, And Gillingham have been awarded a free kick.
Seventy Minutes Into The Match, And Gillingham make nine substitutions with Danial Phillips, Rhys Bennett, Danny Lloyd, Vadaine Oliver, Kyle Dempsey, Gerald Sithole, Nathan Akehurst, Ben Reeves, And Goalkeeper Dion Henry coming on to replace Aaron Chapman, Rob Hall, Ciaran Dickson, Mustapha Carayol, David Tutonda, Olly Lee, Max Ehmer, John Akinde and Harvey Lintott - I actually thought that Jamie Cumming had come on for Aaron Chapman and the mention of a player on trial coming on might have been an error from Gillingham’s Official Twitter Account.
Christian Maghoma and Stuart O’Keefe are both still on the pitch, Stuart O’Keefe is filling in at Right Back after the nine substitutions, And once play had resumed, Leyton Orient were awarded a free kick, and from the resulting free kick, Theo Archibald’s through-ball almost manages to pick out Ruel Sotiriou, But Dion Henry was quick off his line to make the important save to keep Gillingham in this match at 2-0 down, But despite being 2-0 down, Christian Maghoma and Kyle Dempsey have both had to make important clearances to knock the ball out of play for Leyton Orient Throw On’s, And Leyton Orient have this match precisely where they want it, with the ball going out of play and the match being broken up so that Gillingham cannot grab a foot-hold of the remaining minutes in this match.
Gillingham then win a few throw on’s in quick succession, With Stuart O’Keefe throwing the ball short to Daniel Phillips, And Daniel Phillips short pass back out-wide to Stuart O’Keefe being over-hit and the ball goes out of play for A Leyton Orient Throw On, Now Gillingham have just made nine substitutions, But that return pass from Daniel Phillips was very poor, Stuart O’Keefe playing at Right Back because Ryan Jackson and Robbie McKenzie are both injured does highlight the lack of options Gillingham have got at Right Back, even though Harvey Lintott, Robbie McKenzie and Rhys Bennett can all play at Right Back to provide cover for Ryan Jackson.
In The Seventy Sixth Minute Of The Match, Leyton Orient had the chance to go 3-0 up, and put this match well and truly beyond Gillingham’s Grasp, Jayden Sweeney runs forwards in possession of the ball for Leyton Orient Into Gillingham’s Half Of The Pitch, And Jayden Sweeney continue’s his run forwards roughly twenty five yards from goal before passing the ball out-wide to Theo Archibald, And Theo Archibald fires in a dangerous low cross first time and Rhys Bennett on the stretch manages to divert the ball out of play for A Leyton Orient Corner Kick, And had Rhys Bennett not made that clearance, then Ruel Sotiriou would have surely scored for 3-0, and from the resulting corner kick, Dan Kemp whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross towards the near post and Rhys Bennett manages to header the ball clear and away from danger.
Seventy Eight Minutes Into The Match, And Kyle Dempsey is penalised for a foul on Dan Kemp, And Leyton Orient have been awarded a free kick within shooting territory here, and from the resulting free kick, Dan Kemp’s driven effort towards goal crashes against Gillingham’s Wall and Rhys Bennett then completes the clearance heading the ball further away from goal.
In The Eightieth Minute Of The Match, Leyton Orient make another substitution as Josh Clarke comes on to replace Dan Kemp, And Dan Kemp has been superb throughout this entire match for Leyton Orient, and when play resumes, Leyton Orient have the chance to go 3-0 up, Theo Archibald manages to shrug off the attempted challenge from Stuart O’Keefe before running inside into a more central area of the pitch, And Theo Archibald passes the ball inside centrally to Craig Clay, And Craig Clay takes a touch to control the ball before running forwards in possession of the ball, And Craig Clay’s driven effort towards goal goes comfortably wide of the far left post, But Leyton Orient are trying things, they look the more likely side to add to the score-line, And I think Gillingham are resigning themselves to defeat.
Leyton Orient are trying to stretch Gillingham in the wide area’s when Craig Clay’s Pass towards Josh Clarke goes out of play for a throw, and Jayden Sweeney’s pass towards Hector Kyprianou also goes out of play for A Gillingham Throw On, Stuart O’Keefe is then penalised for as foul on Darren Pratley In The Eighty Third Minute, And From The Resulting Free Kick, Theo Archibald’s dangerous low cross is saved by Dion Henry In The Gillingham Goal.
Gillingham then had a rare attacking opportunity when Danny Lloyd worked his way towards the byline, And Danny Lloyd has whipped in a high looping cross and Lawrence Vigouroux takes no chances and tips the ball over the crossbar, and Gillingham have been awarded a corner kick, and from the resulting corner kick, Gillingham had a half chance to get themselves on to the score-sheet, Ben Reeves whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Christian Maghoma hasn’t connected with the cleanest of connections on the ball, And Christian Maghoma’s half connected effort towards goal goes wide of the far left post.
Vadaine Oliver is then penalised for a high foot and Vadaine Oliver hasn’t got into this match at all for Gillingham, This is particularly concerning because Vadaine Oliver hasn’t really got into either of our previous two pre-season friendlies against Millwall and Leyton Orient, And you just wonder without Jordan Graham, and the lack of attacking options Gillingham have got in there first team squad, How many goals will Vadaine Oliver score for Gillingham throughout The 2021 / 2022 Season ??? - Hopefully, Gillingham can sign 2-3 attacking players to really strengthen Gillingham’s Options in the final third.
Ninety Minutes Into The Match, And Christian Maghoma almost makes a dreadful error which almost see’s Leyton Orient have the chance to extend there lead further to 3-0, And in the next attacking opportunity, Gillingham were pushing for a consolation goal as Danial Phillips whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross towards Vadaine Oliver which Dan Happe manages to header clear and out of play for A Gillingham Throw On, And From The Resulting Throw On, Nathan Akehurst throws the ball down the line towards Gerald Sithole, And Gerald Sithole lays the ball off towards Danny Lloyd, And Danny Lloyd whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross towards the far post and Omar Beckles and Jayden Sweeney between the two of them manage to get the ball clear and away from danger.
And the last noteworthy moment of the match see’s Dan Happe’s long ball down-field run all the way through to Dion Henry, and after a few minutes of additional time were played, Referee Craig Hicks blew the full time whistle, and the full time score at Brisbane Road in what can only be described as a one sided pre-season friendly fixture was Leyton Orient 2-0 Gillingham.
FULL TIME: LEYTON ORIENT 2-0 GILLINGHAM
I uploaded the following status update on to Social Media after full time,,,,,,,, FULL TIME: LEYTON ORIENT 2-0 GILLINGHAM - Gillingham put in a improved performance in the second half and gave Leyton Orient a much sterner test, But based from what I saw throughout the ninety minutes, Leyton Orient deserved to win, And Kemp was a player who impressed me today. Gillingham almost equalised when Lee's cross by the byline hits James And James had to clear the ball off the goal-line, 25 for Gillingham fails to hit the target with an ambitious effort towards goal, And 25 was probably the best player out of the three trial players who started.
Olly Lee's cross from a free kick towards the far post almost manages to pick out one of Ehmer or Carayol, But the ball has gone out of play for A Leyton Orient Goal Kick, Chapman saves a dangerous low cross from Kemp, Ehmer blocks Sotiriou's attempted pull-back out for a corner. Bennett on the stretch clears another dangerous cross out for A Leyton Orient Corner Kick, Clay's effort towards goal from twenty five yards out fails to hit the target. Lloyd's cross had to be tipped over by Vigouroux, and from the resulting corner kick, Reeves whips in a cross and Maghoma's half struck effort fails to hit the target.Gillingham need to sign a few players with pace in the final third, to give us something different in attack.
I actually thought that Jamie Cumming was in goal for Gillingham and not a goalkeeper on trial, And as for Dion Henry playing in goal for Gillingham against Leyton Orient, If Dion Henry is happy to sign for Gillingham as our third choice goalkeeper, And Gillingham signing Dion Henry doesn’t prevent Gillingham from strengthening in other area’s of the pitch, then I would sign Dion Henry, or, someone else to be our third choice goalkeeper, I just think that Gillingham need someone to provide cover and competition for Jamie Cumming and Aaron Chapman, plus, signing a third choice goalkeeper means that Gillingham do not have to rely on the emergency loan goalkeeper window should Cumming or Chapman pick up an injury - I just think back to the number of goalkeepers Gillingham had to sign on loan when Kelvin Jack was essentially injured for the entire 2006 / 2007 Season as to why Gillingham need to have at least two, ideally, three professional goalkeepers at the football club.
Ryan Jackson, Robbie McKenzie and Alex MacDonald were all not involved with the first team squad, And with Ryan Jackson and Robbie McKenzie unlikely to play against Norwich City On Tuesday Night, Rhys Bennett will most likely start at Right Back For Gillingham against Lincoln City on the opening day of the season, it would be difficult to throw young Harvey Lintott into his full league debut against Lincoln City, and Rhys Bennett’s experience will probably be preferred whilst Bennett will provide cover for Jackson’s absence due to injury.
As for the three players on trial, Ciaran Dickson, Mustapha Carayol and Rob Hall, were the three players who started for Gillingham, I cannot see Gillingham signing Mustapha Carayol, Because Mustapha Carayol just hasn’t got the pace that we want to see from a wide player, and the lack of pace was very evident against Leyton Orient, Rob Hall was probably the best performing player out of the three, And I am not sure about Ciaran Dickson, The Young Midfielder may well be highly rated at Rangers, But Gillingham have got Ben Reeves, Kyle Dempsey, Stuart O’Keefe, Alex MacDonald, Olly Lee, Danny Lloyd, Danial Phillips, and Robbie McKenzie and David Tutonda can cover in midfield if required to do so, And Henry Woods has been sent out on loan to Dover Athletic Until January, I just think that Gillingham can do with two or even three strikers, a pace wide player, And A First Choice Left Back before looking to sign another central midfielder.
I would like to see Gillingham also sign a third choice goalkeeper, but that’s a signing Gillingham need to make after all of our transfer business has been concluded, As for other players on trial, It appears that Connor Ogilvie was a unused substitute for Gillingham against Leyton Orient, And with news just breaking that Connor Ogilvie is close to signing for Portsmouth, then Gillingham’s very very slim chances of signing Connor Ogilvie have all but been extinguished, I always thought it was going to be a long shot for Gillingham to re-sign Connor Ogilvie, But this latest announcement that Connor Ogilvie is signing for Portsmouth is still devastating news, even if that news was expected.
Christian Maghoma is one player who is surplus to requirements at Gillingham Football Club, I just think that Rhys Bennett, Jack Tucker, Max Ehmer and Harvey Lintott are ahead of him in the pecking order, And Steve Evans might sign versatile centre back who can play in midfield to be Gillingham’s Fourth Choice Centre Back, I don’t think Christian Maghoma’s performance for Gillingham against Leyton Orient was going to see Maghoma in Steve Evans plans for this coming season, and Maghoma will leave before the transfer window slams shut to play first team football elsewhere - And I do wish Christian Maghoma all the best where-ever he ends up next.
Gillingham are going to have move quickly to bring in reinforcements before the season starts on The Seventh Of August, And If Gillingham were to sign A First Choice Left Back to replace Connor Ogilvie, A First Choice Right Winger to replace Jordan Graham, Two Strikers with pace, with one of the two strikers capable of playing anywhere in the front four, and a versatile utility player, I think most Gillingham Supporters would be happy with that business, and those five signings would bring Gillingham’s First Team Squad Up To Twenty Six Players, But With Christian Maghoma very likely to leave and Henry Woods out on loan, Gillingham’s first team squad would actually be twenty four players, But Steve Evans has been hinting at a first team squad of twenty or twenty one first team players, So time will tell on Gillingham’s Squad Size for this coming season.
If your looking for prospective and silver linings, then Gillingham have only played four first team pre-season friendlies and the team that lost against Leyton Orient for the most part won’t be the team that starts for Gillingham against Lincoln City on the opening day of the season, no injuries sustained in this fixture as well, But Ryan Jackson, Robbie McKenzie and Alex MacDonald not playing is a concern, and Vadaine Oliver largely being anonymous in the last two matches is also another concern, Leyton Orient fully deserved there win against Gillingham and Dan Kemp was probably the best player on the pitch as well.
I do think there are quite a few things to be concerned about, not all doom or gloom, But you can see area’s of the squad that need to be strengthened before the transfer window slams shut, and if Gillingham were to make those five signings mentioned above before the opening day of the season, there would be more optimism amongst The Gillingham Supporters, And this friendly against Leyton Orient has given us supporters clear idea’s on where the squad needs to be strengthened, and the lack of attacking options was there for all to see, and the lack of pace was particularly concerning, Another concern was just how superior Leyton Orient were and Gillingham were second best, our lack of pre-season friendlies can be taken into consideration, But that first half performance was very poor.
I would like to see Gillingham sign a third choice goalkeeper to provide additional cover and competition for Aaron Chapman and Jamie Cumming, I just think that Gillingham need to have three goalkeepers and to ensure that we do not have to rely on the emergency loan goalkeeper window if Jamie Cumming or Aaron Chapman were to pick up an injury, If Gillingham don’t have the finances available to sign a third choice goalkeeper, then at the very least, promote Tommy Crump from the youth team into the first team as our third keeper.
Not the performance or result we wanted or needed with just under a week to go before the start of the season, but maybe Steve Evans and Paul Raynor have seen what we have seen from this friendly and we’re in the closing stages to making quite a few signings before Gillingham take on Lincoln City before the season starts on The Seventh Of August, I couldn’t make it to Brisbane Road because of short notice on away ticket allocation, I am not going to Norwich City V Gillingham, But I am sure that everyone will be there when Gillingham play against Lincoln City on the opening day of the season - COME ON THE GILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Football Fans remember Rodney Marsh
Rodney Marsh – Your memories of the English Soccer Legend:
Did you watch Rodney play, or go to school with him, or meet him after his playing days?
Let us know your stories and personal memories by adding a comment at the bottom of the page.
Steve Dickinson wrote:
I started supporting QPR in the 1960s as an 11 year old just as they were winning the League Cup and gaining promotion from the 3rd division.
I have 3 outstanding memories of the man on the field:
Vs West Ham It was Rod’s first game in Div 1 (he had still been injured from the end of the previous promotion season), and West Ham played a very skillful game on a typical QPR mudbath (as the pitch was then), and Rodney touched the ball 3 times – a curling shot that hit the post; a disallowed goal, and a mazy run through the slime that left everyone floundering – I felt there should be more; but the papers screamed about his return and how QPR would soon now climb the table (we didn’t !!)
Vs Birmingham (around 1972) This game was on TV and Terry Venables was now at the club orchastrating midfield – Rodney scored the best Hat-trick I have ever seen, with 3 completely different goals that ripped Birmingham apart in a 5-2 win (although I read in one of his books that he thought his hat-trick against Blackpool was better)
Vs Fulham away I am stood in Craven Cottage listening to all the Fulham Fans chanting ‘Rodney is a Fairy’ (this was the normal away fan’s chant), and the singing is deafening. The whistle can just be heard to start the game, and Keith Sanderson gives the ball to Rodney from the kick-off – he traps the ball, reverses it, spins and shoots – a la Pele and Beckham – sure enough the keeper is on the penalty spot and didn’t start moving till way too late – the ball just missed the post!! The ground fell into absolute silence, until 500 isolated voices began ‘Rodneeeeeee, Rodneeeeee’
Great days
Bill Stapleton wrote:
I live in Bradenton Florida, just down the road from Tampa, where I understand Rodney lives. I would love to meet up with him!
I grew up in West Kensington and used to walk to Craven Cottage to see Fulham when Rod was playing. I remember him getting kicked for that injury and I have a theory about that and his play. It was reported that he had ballroom dancing lessons to help him regain his balance. I have always wondered if that contributed to his amazing balance for the rest of his career.
I love magic players, who have that something that makes your eyes pop out as you say “How did he do that?” Rodney had that magic. Just one goal that I will never forget typifies what he was all about. Fulham v Nottingham Forest. Forest take a corner. The ball is cleared to Johnny Haynes of the edge of the box. He swings a long ball out to the left where Rodney is on the halfway line. He sets off down the left wing. (He’s not the quickest). Team mates sprint up the field to support him in the centre and on the right. Rodney beats one, two maybe three, like in slow motion – (How does he do that?!) and is now just inside the Forest box on the left.
The whole crowd is screaming, “Pass!” Rodney beats yet another, then curls an exquisite ball up and over Peter Grummitt, one of the best goalies in England at the time, into the far top corner.
Rodney simply lived in a different time continuum from the rest of us ordinary mortals. Not only did he bamboozle countless defenders, but he left countless spectators with their mouths hanging open, wondering how he did what he did.
John Lines wrote:
I must be one of only a handful of people that remember Rodney playing in goal. It was in a first division match at Craven Cottage in the early 1960’s.
The match was against Northampton Town and early on, Fulham keeper Tony Macedo was knocked out and suffered a broken jaw. Rodders took the jersey as there were no subs in those days. I was standing right behind the goal and remember the look on his face when picking the ball out of the net…. 4 times I think!
Pat Larkin wrote:
I played with the 2nd Team for the ROWDIES (after being recruited from the St. Pete Kickers) with Rodney Marsh back in ’78 & ’79? I can remember watching him from the sidelines & right in front of the bench, he nutmegged a defender twice while dribbling & “teasing” the guy with his dribbling skills for at least 2 minutes (it may have been a game against the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers or NY Cosmos?)….and this poor defender did not get any defensive support from his mates.
Cat & mouse game went on with Rodney just “schooling this kid”. The kid was determined to steal the ball from this old guy and Rodney turned his back to the defender, left the ball and sprinted about 10 yards to his left….with the defender following Rodney and both leaving the ball behind. Rondey then casually jogs back to the ball with the Red Faced Defender behind him just shaking his head…classic exhibition as to why he truly was the “Clown Prince of Soccer”…and as a very young American playing a game we really could only dream of playing like our friends from overseas….I will always cherish the memory!
Loftuslad wrote:
Rodney Marsh was QPR’s first superstar. With him, an unheard of team in the third division beat a first division side in the League Cup Final (when that cup really meant something!) and was the prime mover in taking them from third to First division.
He was also one of the first ‘Mavericks’ who did it their way. He claimed “QPR will ALWAYS be my team, not Man City or Fulham.” After him came ‘mavericks’ like Stan Bowles, Tony Currie, Peter Osgood, Alan Hudson, Charlie George and Frank Worthinhton. But he was a free spirit and could not play in the negative systems of England (The others couldn’t either.)
He was one of the leading lights in the Americas NASL and played on equal terms with George Best at Fulham. But he will always be related to QPR and there was uproar when he left.
It’s a shame there was less media around then, so clips are sparse with all these guys.
Maybe some people are put off him by his pundit work and comments recently but as a footballer, he will always be a genius and always be QPR!!
geniusmarsh wrote:
Rodney Marsh and Stan Bowles are by far the greatest players we have ever had at QPR. I saw Stan play hundreds of times for Rangers and Brentford, he was like a God.
Stan was more of a team player than Rod. But Rod started QPR as an entertaining team to watch, the first superstar. I have seen some polls that vote Stan with 90% and Rod with 10% that’s a joke, there was not much between them.
The difference is Stan is OURS!
He’s only thought of as a Rangers man while Rod is Man City and Fulham, who all claim him, but Stan walks down South Africa Road with everyone else and goes to the local after.
Rodney would never be seen doing that, he is not accessible to fans, and the stuff with Gerry Francis didn’t help.
I would like to have seen Rod, Stan and Tony Currie at their peaks all playing for QPR at the same time.
Rodney was like Gazza (who I have also seen) he would do sod all for 80mins, you would forget he was playing, but a flash of genius would turn the game round.
But Rodney and Stan gave us entertainment, moneys worth, a laugh, on field jokes and jaw dropping flashes of tricks, skill and pure genius, so did Currie and so did Best.
We will never see their like again.
Chris Barnes wrote:
I remember Rodney playing for QPR vs Leyton Orient one Good Friday in the early 70’s. Being an O’s fan I was in awe of Rodney who single handedly destroyed a great Orient defence without scoring.
QPR got a penalty, the man himself missed it & the O’s inexplicably went on to win 2-0. With ironic cries of Rodney, Rodney, Rodney one of the great miscarriages of justice had happened before my eyes.
Although we had won I had witnessed one of the most impressive displays I had ever seen from an English player. Rodney was too good to play for England as was Stan Bowles, Tony Currie, Glen Hoddle & Duncan MacKenzie.
What price those guys now when 80% of the Premier League players can’t speak English & don’t care if their clubs live or die! Rodney, thanks for the memory!
Darrell Storie wrote:
Grew up in London (Clapham) during the seventies, and my Da, a mad Scot would die for Fulham – he started to take me to Craven Cottage from the age of 9 onwards – which was around the time Marsh, along with George Best and Bobby Moore played for us.
My ma, a quiet and thoughtful nurse who came over from the West Indies in the mid fifties thought seeing Fulham would ‘corrupt’ me, and turn me into a hooligan. In fact it did the exact opposite – realised the trio were in the ‘autumn’ of their career, and the circus acts at Craven Cottage (especially a game against Hereford – or was it Hull when they won 4-1) were usually embarrassing.
Could see most of the fans loving it, with Best taking the ball off Marsh, and vice versa a couple of seconds later…but there were also many who realised this wasn’t going to last for long.
It was around 1977 (or thereabouts) when I followed cricket – England, that is as an antidote to the depression!
Jane Banks wrote:
I MET RODNEY MARSH, TERRY VENABLES, & TONY HAZELL WHEN THEY PLAYED FOR QPR. THEY WERE PLAYING AT CHARLTON ATHLETIC AND I HAD GONE TO THE SUPPORTERS LOUNGE AFTER THE GAME. I WAS SAT AT A TABLE ON MY OWN AND THE THREE PLAYERS ASKED IF I MINDED IF THEY JOINED ME. I WAS THRILLED TO BITS!
AT THE TIME I WAS 23YRS OLD & VERY OVERWEIGHT. HOWEVER, RODNEY BEING RODNEY THOUGHT OTHERWISE, AND ASKED ME WHEN THE ‘HAPPY EVENT’ WAS DUE! I JUST LAUGHED AND SAID “ITS ALL ME, I’M AFRAID RODNEY!” HE APOLOGISED AND WE ALL HAD A GOOD LAUGH ABOUT IT, I WAS NOT OFFENDED AT ALL.
THEY ASKED ME IF I WOULD GO AND SEE THEM PLAY AT LOFTUS ROAD, AS AT THE TIME I WAS WORKING IN A HOSPITAL IN FULHAM ROAD & HAD SAID I WATCHED CHELSEA WHEN CHARLTON WERE AWAY. SADLY I DIDN’T GO, I WAS TOO NERVOUS, AND DIDN’T THINK FOR ONE MINUTE THEY WOULD REMEMBER ME.
I CERTAINLY HAVEN’T FORGOTTEN THEM, THEY WERE GREAT COMPANY & I WAS DELIGHTED TO HAVE MET THEM. I DIDN’T HAVE CHILDREN OF MY OWN, SO I HAVE NO ONE TO PASS THE STORY DOWN TOO. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO MEET RODNEY AGAIN. BUT I DOUBT HE WILL BE AT WEMBLEY NEXT WEEK WHEN GRIMSBY TOWN PLAY M K DONS AT WEMBLEY.

Back in the late 70’s, Rodney Marsh WAS Tampa Bay sports. He helped put Tampa on the sports map. Our football team (Buccaneers) was horrible and the Rowdies did one thing….WIN!!!
During World Cup ’94 I would chat with Rodney every Friday evening before his flight departed Tampa for Atlanta to do his gig with CNN for the cup.
My greatest memory of Sir Rodney has to be the first Rowdie game I attended, the 1978 Conference Championship with 38,000 watching(in a driving rainstorm). Rodney scored the winning goal in a shootout as the Rowdies beat the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers and advanced to Soccer Bowl ’78. Thanks for the memories Rodney!!

I find it surprising that the memories posted on this website of Rod are all from Tampa fans, with the exception of one QPR fan. Rod was a real genius and I saw him play many times for Man City in the early-mid 70’s…and also a few years later when he was with Fulham.
Despite what some people say, Rod was a massive hero at City and was adored and idolised by the fans……..
My memories of Rodney are just too many and too wonderful to recount, but suffice it to say he was just so entertaining and gifted and brilliant to watch.
He scored some amazing goals at City…..but his all round passing, dribbling and attacking ability was breath taking. I truly believe that Rod was the most gifted player I have ever seen, and although he was not the quickest, he more than made up for it with his vision, brilliant ball control and the way he read the game…he had a fantastic footballing brain.
What a joke that he only won 9 England caps….
Thanks Rod…we loved you (and still do) at City.

I worked with Rodney during his time in the media. During my career, I have worked with a number of former footballer, who have played in and won medals in World and European Cups, Champions League, Division 1, Premiership etc etc.
The vast majority of the ex-pros are happy to indulge in stories of their past glories and are rightly proud of them too.
However, in all my life, I’ve never met a player who had such a sub-standard career and banged on about it so much.
Marsh is an arrogant, psuedo intellectual tit and a more self gratified and plain wierd individual. I for one am relived to have him off our screens
Charles Rivers wrote:
I live in Tampa Florida (U.S.A.) I grew up in the 70’s and the Tampa Bay Rowdies were of course my favourite soccer team. My grandmother is from Kent, England and she taught me all about “football” as you call it.
Anyway, I was walking through Tampa Stadium one day prior to a night game for the Rowdies
when out from the locker area comes Rodney.
It wasn’t uncommon for him to come walk around and talk to people. I was 6 years old and he lifted me up and asked me my name. I told him Charles and he told me it was a Kings name.
He was very kind. A while later Rodney decided to retire and they had his “memorial game” at Tampa Stadium….when my mom purchased the program for the game we opened it up and inside was a picture of the day Rodney had picked me up. I have it still. I was wearing a green striped Interbay United shirt and my team name was Manchester City at the time.
Somehow my parents got in touch with him and we all met at his home. The next thing I know my dad bought his daughters’ all white bedroom set for my sister.
So my sister had Rodney Marsh’s daughters room set and I had a picture in his retirement program of us for life.
Thats my story I hope you liked it.

Rodney was my hero when I was young and for me embodies all that is good about the game. Supremely talented, with a streak of arrogance he was a genius and for me the best English player there has ever been!

RODNEY MARSH THE LEGEND.
I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE SEEN AND MEET THE MAN HIMSELF. I CAN REMEMBER HIM TURNING A GAME AROUND WITH PURE GENIUS. HE WAS NOT ALWAYS INVOLVED IN THE GAME FROM START TO FINISH, BUT JUST A FLASH OF CLASS WAS ENOUGH TO SEND US ALL HOME AS HAPPY AS LARRY, AND WE KNEW WE WERE THE GREATEST TEAM IN LONDON.
MY AUNTIE AND UNCLE HAD A FRAMED PICTURE OF RODNEY ON THEIR WALL, AND IF SOMEONE DARED SWEAR IN THAT ROOM THEY HAD TO APPOLIGISE TO RODNEY, (HOW DARE THEY SWEAR IN THE PRESENT OF A SPORTING GOD).
YEARS LATER I DROVE FROM LONDON TO STOCKPORT TO A CHARITY GOLF EVENT TO SEE THE GREAT MAN HIMSELF.
AS I DROVE INTO THE COURSE I SPOTTED RODNEY, I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND AS SOON AS HE SAW THE QPR TOP IN MY HANDS HE STOPPPED PLAYING AND SIGNED MY TOP, WHICH IS NOW MY MOST PRIZED POSSESSION.
RODNEY WAS AND IS STILL A LEGEND I MY EYES.
Anthony Fernandez wrote:
I had the pleasure of watching Rodney Marsh play for the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the North American Soccer League for four great years. He came to the team for the 1976 season after the team had won the NASL Cup the year before. The team made it to the final two more times with him as the captain, but failed to win another championship. He was a very popular player during his time in Tampa and is remembered well here in the community to this day.
I still remember a match at Tampa Stadium when he dropped his shorts, that had ripped, as a trainer held two towels in front and rear only to have the rear towel fall to expose a full Rodney moon. The article in the local newspaper the next day had the photo with the headline “Footloose and Fannie Free”.
Mike Davis wrote:
During the late 70s, Rodney Marsh almost single-handedly made football, or soccer as we call it, a tremendously popular sport in Tampa.
He became the most popular sports figure in the city….even bigger than american football players. He was dashing, handsome and most of all great to watch play the game…. wonderfully entertaining.
He produced on the field, scoring many beautiful goals and assists, and was the centerpiece of the very successful Tampa Bay Rowdies. Even though it has been many years now since those days, he is still very fondly remembered in Tampa.
Joby Canoby wrote:
Though it was american NASL soccer, it was all we had in Tampa Bay. Watching Rodney Marsh at the age of 18-20 was amazing. For instance:
1)Seeing him go to his knees with the ball in homage to Pele against the Cosmos. 2)Watching him always take the final and usually game winning penalty kicks 3)Following him with binoculars, and seeing what opposing teams enforcers did to him to try and stop him from dominating games. (it never stopped him by the way and most of it wasn’t very sportsmanlike) 4)Joining with the other 45,000 fans screaming his name in unison after he won yet another game for us.
Frosty wrote:
Tampa Bay Rowdies – While playing with the Rowdies, Rodney provided much excitement and talent. He made others around him better and as a result allowed Fabbiani lead the NASL in scoring.
On national tv against the N.Y. Cosmos Rodney put on/displayed perhaps one of his best performances against the likes of none other than Pele, Beckenbauer, Chinaglia, Alberto. We won the highly anticipated match.
Rodney matched with Derek Smethurst was a deadly combination for any defense to go against……

Rodney Marsh – Memories
Vivid memories of Rodney sitting on the ball in the penalty area of teams like Watford and Swindon when two or three goals up: once the game was won he preferred to entertain than to go for goal all the time.
One dummy, when he was stationary, caused his opponent to jump up and land on his back in an attempt to block the ball which Rodney had not kicked.
Seeing him set up chances for Mick Leach and watch how he got on.
Watching him trip on his own feet and win penalties.
Watching him (at 4-0 with 2 goals himself already) prepare to take a penalty and walk back, and keep walking on with the crowd cheering until he reached the centre circle, running back with the crowd baying, feinting, stopping in his tracks just short of the penalty spot, watching the goalie tumble involuntarily to his right while Rodney, with a smile on his face, rolled the ball slowly to his left.
Watching from behind the Bristol Rovers goal as he struck a late League Cup equaliser by bending the ball hugely around the wall; this was in the days when they played with proper footballs of the type that only Marsh, Bowles and Rivelino could bend.
Great memories. QPR players smiled and laughed a lot during the games…

SIX OF THE EFL BEST: Fans unite for emotional Justin Edinburgh tributes
SIX OF THE BEST EFL: fans unite for emotional tribute to Justin Edinburgh, Salford seeks a new promotion and expects Leeds to offer more drama
The Football Season League started in style on Friday night on Kenilworth Road
Luton earned a dramatic 3-3 draw with Middlesbrough in the championship
Sportsmail now chooses the Highlights of the First Week of the New Campaign
By Tom Farmery For The Daily Mail
Published: ] 22:45 BST, 2 August 2019 Updated: 22:50 BST, 2 August 2019
The Football League season began in style Friday night with Luton deserving of a late earned point on their return to the Middlesbrough championship.
But the hustle and bustle of the action starts at the weekend, with many crackers in store in the competitions.
Here TOM FARMERY of Sportsmail chooses the highlights of the first weekend of the 2019-20 season …
ORIENT VS CHARLTON
]] Saturday (3:00 PM)
It will be an emotional day on Brisbane Road when Leyton Orient returns to the Football League without Justin Edinburgh after his sudden death. & # 39; Do it for Justin & # 39 ;, is the message from captain and interim coach Jobi McAnuff. Fans from both sides arrive hours before the kick-off to celebrate the life of Edinburgh, which Orient relegated to League Two after relegation in 2017. A banner created by Cheltenham fans with the message & # 39; He made you dream again & # 39; will be one of the tributes as the players run away for a minute's silence.
It will be emotional for fans of Brisbane Road to stay mourning the death of Justin Edinburgh
SALFORD VS STEVENAGE ] Saturday (12.30 PM)
Salford shot through non-League with four promotions in five seasons to come to League Two for the first time in the club's history. But owners Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and the rest of the Class of & # 39; 92 do not want to stop now, with another promotion that this season aims for.
The signing of Richie Towell, who played in the championship Last year on loan to Rotherham from Brighton, shows the purchasing power of the club but also a clear intention. Sky cameras & # 39; s start on Saturday at 12.30 pm, but it is not sold out on Moor Lane.
Another promotion is the season for Salford after rising by non-League
BURTON VS IPSWICH
Saturday (3:00 PM)
The last time Ipswich playing in the third series in 1957, Sir Stanley Matthews was about to play his last game for England and the Cavern Club in Liverpool had just opened. But there is reason for optimism with Paul Lambert in charge. Lambert led Norwich to the League One title in 2010 for a second consecutive promotion to the Premier League. In James Norwood, who signed with a Tranmere free, they should have the firepower to bounce back to the second layer.
LINCOLN VS ACCRINGTON
Saturday (Fifteen)
Three years ago, League One football would be there for Lincoln fans have seen it as a dream. They were considered non-League no-hopers, even by those who follow them, but the arrival of Danny Cowley in 2016 has led to an increase in competitions and to third rank for the first time in 21 years. The Imps had to fight hard to keep Cowley. This season will be a challenge and John Coleman & # 39; s Accrington will take a tough test.
BARNSLEY VS FULHAM
Saturday (15:00)
The parties went different directions this season in different directions. to meet the championship. Striker Kieffer Moore & # 39; s 17-goal distance was the key to Barnsley & # 39; s promotion last season, although he may not be in Oakwell much longer with Bristol City, West Brom, and Wigan competing to sign him. Fulham was bullish during the summer after relegation from the Premier League, signed Ivan Knight and Anthony Knockaert on loan while tying Aleksandar Mitrovic for a five-year deal. Ryan Sessegnon is not expected to play, with Spurs close to signing him for around £ 30 million.
Fulham has been bullish this summer, signing of Ivan Knight and Anthony Knockaert on loan
BRISTOL CITY VS LEEDS
Sunday (16.30pm)
No surprise that Sky Sports Sunday at Ashton Gate is for a clash between two of the most exciting sides of the championship. With eighth place, four points after last season's play-offs, Bristol City is looking forward to a top-six finish. Permanent signings by Tomas Kalas and Jay Dasilva from Chelsea have added content to a side that plays a lively style of football. Marcelo Bielsa, who committed himself to Leeds for another season, was the perfect remedy for play-off heartache last season. Expect more drama as Leeds tries again to find its way back to the Premier League after relegation in 2004.

FA Cup first round: Haringey Borough eye AFC Wimbledon giant-killing
FA Cup first round: Haringey Borough v AFC Wimbledon Venue: Coles Park, Tottenham Date: Friday 9 November Kick-off: 19:55 GMT Coverage: Live on BBC Two, the BBC Sport website and app, live text commentary on the BBC Sport website
They are one of only a few clubs in the top seven tiers of English football to hand out free season tickets, they have a midfielder who has played against Luka Modric, and five years ago they attracted a crowd of just 17 (seventeen) to a league match.
On Friday, Haringey Borough will host a club record crowd of around 2,500 as the non-league team look to spring an FA Cup first-round shock by knocking out AFC Wimbledon, who play four leagues above them, in a match to be shown live on BBC Two.
Located on White Hart Lane, just over a mile from where Tottenham’s booming 62,000-seater stadium is taking shape, Borough’s Coles Park ground has a main stand with 270 seats.
The only team surviving from August’s preliminary round, Haringey have already created club history by reaching this stage for the first time.

Their run includes a 97th-minute winner at Brentwood Town in the first qualifying round and coming from behind in three of their five games. In doing so, the Isthmian League Premier Division club have earned £57,890 in prize money – a huge amount for a part-time club who cannot afford to pay a wage to all their players.
“We’ve got a few contracted players – the rest are on expenses which covers things like petrol money and buying a pair of boots,” said Tom Loizou, in his 11th season as Haringey manager.
“Even the contracted players are on a bare minimum when it comes to wages.”

‘One of the fastest growing fanbases in the country’
On 26 February 2013, Haringey entertained Biggleswade United in the ninth-tier Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division. There were more players on the pitch than people who paid to watch.
Having spent around £1m on ground improvements, including a new 3G pitch, Borough took the bold decision to give away free season tickets in the summer of 2016 – despite requiring £140,000 a year to keep going.
“We’d spent all this money on a new stadium and had nobody to watch us,” Aki Achillea, a criminal defence solicitor and chairman of Haringey for the past 14 years, said. “I banked on the fact anyone with a free season ticket might buy food and drink.”

The giveaway has been such a success that it remains in place today. Borough’s average league attendance has jumped from 58 in 2015-16 to 262 this season, and manager Tom Loizou said: “We have one of the fastest growing fanbases in the country.”
With little in the way of gate receipts, however, Haringey have had to be resourceful in terms of raising income.
The club receive a rent for hosting a car boot sale three times a week, while finances are also boosted by hiring out their £500,000 synthetic pitch during the week.
“A few years ago we couldn’t even get a sponsor, people just laughed at us,” 58-year-old Loizou, a former Leyton Orient caretaker manager, added.
“Now we’ve got a van hire company who are in White Hart Lane. Instead of cash, they have given us a mini bus to get the team to away games. We can’t afford a coach to every away match.”
The man who faced Modric
Four years ago Georgios Aresti was rubbing shoulders with the likes of Modric, Mario Mandzukic and Dejan Lovren.
The central midfielder, born in Limassol, made his one and only start for Cyprus in a 2-0 friendly defeat in Croatia in September 2014.
Four months earlier he had come up against then-Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa when he appeared as a substitute against Japan in front of 58,000 in Saitama.
Aged 24, Aresti is a veteran of almost 100 top-flight Cypriot games – including 43 at Ethnikos Achnas where he was on a £40,000-a-year contract – and joined Haringey towards the end of last season before re-signing in July after a trial at Barnet ended without an offer.
<!–
Desperate to earn a living playing professionally in England, the former AEK Athens player hopes his performances for Haringey, where he picks up around £100 a game, will lead to greater things.
In September, 18-year-old Haringey defender Themis Kefalas signed a one-year deal with Championship club Queens Park Rangers,[3] and Aresti hopes to follow a similar path.
“I want to progress my career and I think I can do it,” said Aresti, who scored in the 3-2 win at Brentwood Town in the first qualifying round. “Haringey is a small club in a small league but there are lots of scouts that come to our games.”
Despite only being at Haringey for a short time, Aresti has already established himself as a cult figure with fans.
“He makes goals and sees things other players at this level can’t see,” added Achillea. “Our fans love him and sing ‘George Aresti is a gift from the Gods’ at games.”
Achillea, too, is popular with Borough fans. One banner reads “The People’s Republic of Haringey Borough. Vote Aki Achillea Prime Minister!”

Injured trying to empty a bin
Haringey’s team also includes Michael O’Donoghue, a 22-year-old defender who has played in League One for Colchester United, midfielder Rakim Richards, who works for the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation[4] and Michael Ademiluyi, a former Southend United youth forward who has recently worked in security at The Oval cricket ground.
Meanwhile, Portuguese midfielder Jorge Sambu is hoping to make an impression against Wimbledon after recovering from a work injury.
The 27-year-old refuse collector for Kensington and Chelsea London Borough Council missed the start of the season after damaging his knee while trying to empty a bin.
How Haringey got the FA Cup first round Preliminary round: H v Stanway Rovers 1-0 – Chinedu McKenzie First qualifying round: A v Brentwood Town 3-2 – Georgios Aresti, Chinedu McKenzie, Karl Akinwande Second qualifying round: H v Erith Town 2-0 – Joel Nouble (pen), Chinedu McKenzie Third qualifying round: H v AFC Sudbury 2-1 – Chinedu McKenzie (2) Fourth qualifying round: H v Poole Town 2-1 – Jorge Sambu, Joel Nouble
“My knee just gave way and I only started playing again last month,” said Lisbon-born Sambu, who is in his fifth season at Haringey.
“I came to London to live with my mum at the age of 14. At first I used to beg her to go back to Portugal but she said it’s a better life for us here. I love London now.
“I’ve had two promotions with Haringey and I’ve had an offer to sign for a team in a better division this year.
“I chose to stay at Haringey because I don’t think I will find another team like this. We’re a very close-knit group and we look after one another.”
‘We’re the only team in White Hart Lane’
Above the bar in Haringey’s six-year-old clubhouse is a sign that reads ‘White Hart Lane N17’.
It was paid for by Loizou, who says: “There’s only one senior club on White Hart Lane – and it’s not Spurs. Their official address is High Road, Tottenham.”
<!–
Achillea has been a Tottenham season ticket holder for 30 years and travelled to the Netherlands in October to watch them against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.
One of his ambitions is to get Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino down to watch Haringey. Another is to see Tottenham Hotspur Ladies, who currently play in Cheshunt, groundshare at Coles Park.
“Spurs Ladies playing on White Hart Lane would be fantastic,” he said.
<!–
Borough have a women’s team of their own. Long-serving Haringey secretary John Bacon often acts as an assistant referee at their home matches in the Eastern Region Women’s Premier Division[5] – at the age of 80.
Haringey’s Brit Award winners
Former Haringey players include Ricky Otto,[6] later a Birmingham City winger, and Leon Rolle – also known as DJ Locksmith.
Rolle, who was Borough captain, Kesi Dryden and Piers Aggett were all registered with Haringey before helping launch Rudimental, the drum and bass band who won British single of the year at the 2014 Brits.[7]
“When I first took over they were in the process of forming a band and playing football for us,” added Loizou.
“They weren’t famous at the time and I didn’t take a lot of notice of them. It’s not my kind of music. If it had been Frank Sinatra playing centre-half it would have been very different!”
<!–
Meanwhile, British singer-songwriter Emeli Sande[8] turned up in 2015 to watch Haringey win promotion from the Essex Senior League and even wrote a message on Facebook[9] after her visit to Coles Park.
Eight years ago, Ben Corbyn, son of Labour leader Jeremy, managed Haringey Borough’s under-18 team.

WHO PUT THE BOOT IN
ALEX HARVEY AND LITTLE FEAT JOIN THEM ON SOCCER SUPERGIGS THE WHO, Alex Harvey, Little Feat: that is the phenomenal top line of the heaviest package to hit the road in Britain in years.
These three bands plus the Outlaws, making their UK debut, and Streetwalkers have been assembled by promoter Harvey Goldsmith to play three football grounds to a total of 115,000 people.
The venues and dates are: Charlton Athletic FC, The Valley, London SE7, May 31; Celtic FC, Celtic Park, Glasgow G21, June 5; Swansea City FC, Vetch Field, Swansea, June 12, all shows starting at 2.00 pm, gates open at 12 noon.
The working title for the whole enterprise is ‘Who Put The Boot In’ and it is the realisation of Pete Townshend’s dream of playing ‘rock for everyone’ which he first tried, not entirely to his satisfaction, with the one show at Charlton in May, ’74.
On a grand scale it’s ‘the Who and friends’ as they are all bands the Who rate highly.
All tickets cost £4 each and are available by POSTAL application immediately from GP Productions, PO Box 4TL, London W1A 4OL. Application should be marked London, Glasgow or Swansea to assist sorting and postal orders preferable to cheques, say the organisers.
Tickets are available by PERSONAL application only from the following locations from April 12: Virgin Records, Union Street, Swansea. Derick Records, Oxford Street, Swansea. Derick records, Station Road, Port Talbot. Appollo, Glasgow. Shuffles, Sauchniehall Street, Glasgow.
Harvey Goldsmith has arranged special trains to the gigs through British Rail as well as coaches and special arrangements with the local transport authorities.
An unusual feature designed to prevent rip-offs is that the catering will be completely controlled by the promoters rather than sub-contracted.
To get the elaborate staging and all the bands’ equipment on the road they will be using eight articulated 40-foot trucks. The operation will employ 2,000 people in security/clearance/turnstiles/crews.
The Sensational Alex Harvey Band have added a date to their British tour before the Who gigs. They will now play Edinburgh Odeon on Saturday May 29 as well as the previous night.
AISLES OF MILES JOHN MILES’S first headlining tour, forecast in Sounds last week, has now been fixed and will take in major venues in eight cities.
He is also being lined up for a Mike Mansfield TV special to be recorded in May for broadcast in July or August.
Tour dates are: Glasgow Apollo May 30, Newcastle City Hall 31, Manchester Palace Theatre June 1, Liverpool Empire 2, Birmingham Town Hall 3, Bristol Hippodrome 4, London Hammersmith Odeon 6, Southampton Gaumont 7.
BILLY AND WILLY IN COUNTRY DOUBLE BILLY SWAN and Willie Nelson are to double-head a single British gig during their European tour later this month.
The play the London New Victoria on April 23, tickets £2.50, £2 and £1.50 available from the box office now.
Nelson has just released in Britain the single that won him the US Grammy for ‘Best Country Male Vocal Performance’ last year titled ‘Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain’. Reports of any other gigs in the UK for Nelson this time round should be ignored CBS say.
STONES: THREE MORE SHOWS A million people want to see ’em
THE ROLLING STONES are to play three extra nights at Earls Court but there is no way they could meet the demand for tickets to see them – which now amounts to a MILLION applications.
They will now play May 25, 26 and 27 which will put about 50,000 more seats into the ballot but there is no point in sending further applications as these will simply help to take up some of the sackfuls of letters already bound to be disappointed.
The last count was 86 bags of mail containing an estimated million applications with most asking for any number of tickets up to the limit of six.
NEW BLOOD FOR ROLLERS NEW BAY CITY ROLLER Ian Mitchell, a 17-year-old Irishman, said that he was “over the moon” at joining the band.
He replaces Alan Longmuir who originally decided to quit the Rollers last year when he admitted that he was 27, not 22 as their publicity claimed. The he was dissuaded by the fans’ response but now he has decided that the pressures of touring are too much for him.
Ian comes from Downpatrick, County Down, and Rollers’ manager Tam Paton said he was spotted when playing in Belfast with a group called the Young Stars.
NEW NEW SEEKERS THE NEW SEEKERS have reformed, though not with the original line-up, and already scheduled their first concerts.
They broke up more than a year ago and lead singer Lynn Paul began a solo career which she is continuing. Marty Kristian and Paul Leyton recorded with Danny Finn who they have now brought into the New Seekers line-up.
Original member Eve Graham has returned from a spell in Australia and they are joined by Kathie Ann Ray as replacement for Lynn.
Their first concert is on May 16 at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, and a full tour is planned for later that month.
DAVID GOES SPANISH DAEVID ALLEN, the former leader of Gong, may be playing in the UK during the summer with a Spanish five-piece string band called Euterpe. He is living in Majorca at the moment.
COWMAN LEAVES JOHN GREAVES, bassist with Henry Cow, has left the band to record solo and the band are currently rehearsing with a new member whose name will be announced next week.
Greaves will be recording in New York with Peter Blegvad who used to be in Slap Happy.
MOON HEIST MOON are offering a reward, no questions asked, for the return of their van, an Orange mixer, and a Hi-Watt amp stolen after their gig at Dingwalls at the weekend.
They are about to go into the studio to record for CBS for the first time and, though they are buying a new PA, they had hoped to use their old equipment either in part-exchange or as a monitoring set-up.
ELKIE: PERONTINITIS? ELKIE BROOKS has cancelled her gig scheduled for the New Victoria this Saturday because of a severe illness. She is now recovering from an emergency operation for perontonitis.
She is said to have been offered the lead role in a new musical by ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ composers Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber about the life of Eva Peron, the first wife of the late Argentinian dictator Juan Peron. She would not have to start work on it until June.

Early Days
On this day in 1900 Woolwich Arsenal travelled to Blundell Park to play Division 2 opponents Grimsby Town. The Gunners failed to score and were beaten 1-0 by the Marriners. Goalkeeper Thomas Spicer was a debutante today. He joined this month from Brighton United but was always on the fringes of the senior team and only made 4 appearances in all. He left in 1901 and later played for Leyton and Brentford. Away from the club it was also today that former Arsenal goalkeeper Charlie Williams scored for Manchester City against Sunderland, the first ever league goal recorded as being direct from a goal kick.
Today in 1903 the Gunners were at the County Ground to play a friendly with Northampton Town. The match finshed with a very friendly 1-1 scoreline, John Dick getting Woolwich Arsenal's goal.
It was a comfortable win at the Manor Ground today in 1906. Woolwich Arsenal beat Bury 4-0 thanks to the goals of John Coleman, Charlie Satterthwaite (2) and Andy Ducat.
In the London Combination League on this date in 1917 Arsenal were at Millfields Road. A goal by Fred Groves and two from Jimmy Chipperfield gave the Gunners a 1-3 win over Clapton Orient.

Chelsea icon Dave Webb talks mansions in Mayfair and trying to get Orient to Wembley
The granite functions of Chelsea legend Dave Webb become softer as he enumerates the qualities of his son Daniel. Beautiful, popular, tolerant, well-spoken, well-dressed.
& # 39; I like fashion to be honest, but I am going on a budget, & # 39; Danny subjects. & # 39; Dad was in Chelsea in his clothes, went shopping along the King & # 39; s Road. I have Billericay High Street.
The duo is moving on, not for the only time in a joint interview on the Leyton Orient training ground in Chigwell.

Danny, the club's first coach, has just finished training, hence the training suit.
Orient a 1-0 lead so that Danny is within reach of Wembley for what his father is for Chelsea played in the infamous 1970 FA Cup Final against Leeds.
& # 39; That first game was a nightmare, I was thrown in full swing by Eddie Gray, & # 39; Dave remembers. & # 39 Ron Harris was no help beside me, he had just passed a condition test consisting of 10 knees on the chest and nothing else. were lucky enough to draw, and when the Leeds coach came up next to us outside Wembley, Jackie gave Charlton the two fingers through the window.

& # 39; The only person who had a nice word afterwards, was the actor Michael Crawford who told me he would never see a player with more bottles, Michael was a big fan of Chelsea, he became a good mood and later I read the scripts for Some Mothers Do & # 39; Ave & # 39; In with him.
Chelsea landed their supervers for the repeat at Old Trafford in one of the dirtiest FA Cup finals and Webb scored the winner while Chelsea triumphed 2-1.
That team came to represent the glamor of Swinging London and Webb was not averse to making up with the celebrities who flocked to Stamford Bridge
& # 39; all Monty Python boys went to play for the San Frediano restaurant on Fulham Road & # 39 ;, he recalls. & # 39; Eric Idle, John Cleese, Marty Feldman, Ian La Frenais (who wrote The Likely Lads). & # 39; The stadium itself used to be the old tip where my father dropped all the mess for his truck company & he said. & # 39; I was an extrovert and fought my way up to my nature. You had to be a footballer, boxer or villain to get out of that area. I started in Orient where Daniel is now.
& Southampton bought me and then I moved to Chelsea (in 1968). I would drive to the parking lot and sell things from my suitcase; clothing, plates, everything. Danny was born in 1983 in Bournemouth, where Dave played for his last professional club.
Danny had a less elevated playing career at 16 different clubs in lower and non-league football, but at 35 it could become the best manager in his family.

& # 39; I didn't grow up in a municipal district, far from it. I was lucky enough to be in nice houses, good schools &, says Danny. & # 39; My refinement came from football. I remember the fans coming to our house to protest when my father was involved with Brentford. It was awful. I also played for him as a teenager at Southend.
& # 39; It wasn't fun for a sensitive young player, but looking back, it hardened me. I absolutely enjoy being a coach rather than playing. I just feel at ease. "
Danny has been on Orient for seven years, coaching at every level from Under 14s to the first team during the most turbulent times in the club's history. In 2017, their 112-year stay in the Football League ended with relegation under the notorious owner Francesco Becchetti, who then sold the club to local businessman Nigel Travis, Orient is back on the way to the top of the national competition with Webb support manager Justin Edinburgh.

Shortly in 2017 Webb became one of the nine bosses of Becchetti in three crazy years and, but resigned after 61 days. & # 39; He would pop out of the blue with a driver, bodyguard and four or five gofers behind him, laughing at his jokes, & # 39 ;, Danny says.
& # 39; I heard from other managers that he "I'm not sure what I'm going to do, but I'm not going to do it."
He I had the call to go to his eight-story house in Mayfair, which must have been worth £ 5,000.
60million. It was intimidating because you were alone and I already had his companions. In the end I chose to resign in principle.

Webb Jnr stopped after receiving a written warning about criticism he had made after a defeat at Crawley. & # 39; I am proud to have come up against him & # 39 ;, he says. & # 39; The highlight was Plymouth when we took 150 fans that way. It is for them that I want to get promoted and go to Wembley. "
Dave is still 73 but still drilling and diving. She currently does upcoming real estate near Yarmouth and rents a house from the parents of Oscar-winning actress Olivia Colman nearby. He is in the Houses of Parliament landed to drink coffee at Jacob Rees-Mogg, the local MP in Somerset, where Webb owns a coal mine.
& # 39; At first I thought it would be too chic, but you get beyond the accent you realize
On the other hand, he rarely returns to Chelsea , although he was introduced to the field for a match against Arsenal in 2014. & # 39; The fans began to chant & # 39; Who
He is naturally modest, he is naturally modest.
Danny & # 39; s first trip to Wembley, was a six-year-old to the FA Cup final of 1 990 between Manchester United and Crystal Palace. It is now 90 minutes to be in the dug-out.
& # 39; When Daniel played a youth team in Southampton, I always regret bringing him to Essex when I got the Southend job. In retrospect, it wasn't fair in his career, & Dave admits.
& # 39; But I think he will be an excellent manager. He is open-minded than me. When Dave Sexton (his Chelsea boss) gave me a file about the opposition, I threw it in the trash.
