songs with some of the best guitar intros ever made in my opinion, in no particular order, a comprehensive (& continually updating) list:
Crazy Train (Ozzy Osbourne); I don’t care how you feel about the rest of the song, the intro fucking slaps and if you deny that you’re lying. to yourself and everyone else.
Smoke on the Water (Deep Purple); literally iconic. the intro reaches a part of my soul no other song does, besides maybe the cinematic cover version by 2wei
I Don’t Wanna Stop (Ozzy Osbourne); I feel like this is probably in a Tom Cruise movie somewhere. self explanatory. I’ve had this song on repeat for two days
Personal Jesus (Depeche Mode); again, SO iconic. if I could inject a song into my veins like drugs it’d be this one
(Don’t Fear) The Reaper (Blue Öyster Cult); maybe I should start keeping track of how many times I say “iconic” in this list. not only the intro, but the instrumental bridges throughout the song, ESPECIALLY the one after verse 2 and the second chorus… 🤌✨
For Whom the Bell Tolls (Metallica); *slaps track name* this bad boy can fit an intro that is SO LONG. and it ALL FUCKS.
Kickstart My Heart (Mötley Crüe); there should be some sort of warning feature installed that doesn’t let you listen to this song if you’re driving bc if you do you WILL get a speeding ticket. altho it does sound better if you’re driving tbh. but watch for cops
Welcome to the Jungle (Guns N’ Roses); see my notes on Crazy Train above
New Divide (LINKIN PARK); ok honestly this one’s a nostalgia trip for me but also just objectively I feel like it goes pretty hard regardless of what scene you were into during the 2010s and how many amvs you watched
Everlong (Foo Fighters); I mean come ON. do I even have to say anything
Panama (Van Halen); sets the hype tone for the rest of the song right away, also this is another one that’s so much better while you’re driving for some reason. whole song fucking slaps too
Whispers in the Dark (Skillet); it’s not right at the beginning like most of these other ones are but just. just give it 20 seconds I promise it’s worth it.
Monster (Skillet); while we’re on the topic. imagine trying to fight the weird kid allegations and then these two songs come on back to back. lol. couldn’t be me..
Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nirvana); ICONIC. changed the game forever and ever.
Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy) (Big & Rich); this one’s mostly just here for that drop at the beginning cuz it’s actually pretty dope
The Adults Are Talking (the strokes); I can’t explain how this one makes me feel. but boy does it make me feel
Thank You For The Venom (My chemical romance); LITERALLY SO GOOD. sometimes I’ll listen to this song just to headbang to the intro and then skip the rest
Scotty Doesn’t Know (Lustra); this is embarrassingly near the top of my “songs I recognize within the first 0.1 seconds” list. we don’t need to talk about that tho
Headstrong (Trapt); even if you don’t know the name of this song you would recognize the intro, I’m sure of it
Puppet (Thousand Foot Krutch); this one had 14-15 year old me in a CHOKEHOLD OKAY and it still fucking slaps. I love this band.
Are You Gonna Be My Girl (Jet); fun fact the first time I heard this song was in the movie Flushed Away so now I always associate it with that 💀 but yeah this song bangs
Supremacy (Muse); gosh this whole song is just. like. RIDICULOUSLY good imo, the vocals the strings and drums combo,, the intro part lays the foundation tho. easily one of my favs out there
Iron Man (Black Sabbath); NO SHUT UP BC THE WAY IT SOUNDS LIKE A HEARTBEAT AND BREATHING ARE YOU KIDDING ME
Immigrant Song (Led Zeppelin); see notes for Crazy Train and Welcome to the Jungle
Living Dead Girl (Rob Zombie); gets stuck in my head a lot.
Something In Your Mouth (Nickelback); yes, I listen to them unironically and yes, this song made the list
Square Hammer (Ghost); honestly I listen to this song pretty much solely for the guitar track in it
Let It Happen (Tame Impala); I don’t know what instruments those are at the beginning but one of them sounds like a bass and regardless, the thing slaps so I’m including it bc I want to
link to the spotify playlist! (updated 2/23/24)

What does the team's team/individual music playlist(s) look like?
ah yeah, some team BOPS
tws: cursing
the rights to control the locker room music are passed from player to player week by week; the team selects the next week’s DJ by pulling a name out of one of D’s bowler hats. the only people who don’t participate are Logan (who genuinely hasn’t developed his musical tastes yet and has no idea what to play), Remus (who’s on probation after BLASTING DJ Assault’s “Ass N Titties”), and Alex R (who just Doesn’t Want To Be In Charge of That). that said, the songs playing in the locker room are pretty reflexive of whomever is In Charge for the week
these two posts (x and x) outline the Core Eight’s tastes, which transfer over to the locker room; the team is genuinely surprised to find out how much D likes Shakira, but she’s a Colombian Pop Icon who’s songs slap in both English AND Spanish, so feel free Fight Him About It
Callen and Jared exclusively play meme songs. “All Star” by Smash Mouth. “Shooting Stars” by Bag Raiders. “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astely (catch Coach Thomas walking into the locker room, rolling his eyes, and then walking back out of the locker room). Logan realizes that these are all songs that he has been asked to learn on piano and has to take a moment to recollect himself.
on a similar note, Alex J only ever plays YouTube Parody Songs. Yes, This Includes the Minecraft Ones
Julian has similar tastes to Roman and Remy – Marina, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, etc. – but he’s also prone to blasting some Ke$ha Classics. you have not experienced true wonder until you’ve seen a group of twenty hockey boys yelling out the lyrics to 2009′s “Tik Tok”
David unironically likes Nickelback. no, he will not be taking questions or comments at this time. (*Muffled “Rockstar” from the team locker room*)
Payton tends to listen to contemporary rap from artists like Macklemore or Post Malone. some of his go-tos are “Irish Celebration” and “Candy Paint” respectively. he’ll also play some Irish drinking songs when given the chance, because the Irish know how to PARTY
Peter’s big on Alec Benjamin and Jon Bellion. he’s also got a bunch of remixes that he made himself that he’ll occasionally slip into the playlist
Myle’s actually pretty into bands like The Front Bottoms, McCafferty, and Cavetown. unconventional locker room choices, but 10/10 Can Vibe With
Virgil is pleasantly surprised to find that Holly’s a big proponent for Green Day. they mutually agree that “Holiday” kicks some serious ass.
Some Highlights
during the month of December, the team is on Holiday Lockdown. i’m talking Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” i’m talking Michael Buble’s Holiday Album (“pfft, this coward’s too weak to French Santa Claus”) . i’m talking Straight No Chaser and the Maccabeats, Chanukah REPRESENT. (Remy: time to Get Festive, BITCHESSSS)
“♫Creeper–” “AW MAN”
“DISCOOOORD, I’M HOWLING AT THE MOON”
Julian plays “Praying” by Ke$ha once and Roman legitimately loses his voice belting it
when Virgil play’s “I Write Sins Not Tragedies,” nearly every person singing along does the “Shhh” for the end of “the groom’s bride is a –”. the one exception to this is Payton, who subs in the words “a beautiful woman,” like Brendon Urie once did in concert

@yourfavouritedoll tagged me for 10 songs I’m obsessed with and hey why not Delilah- Florence and the Machine One that matches up with hers, I love this song for very Jezabel related reasons. Yeah durr the title but also just, it’s harsh and raw but so beautiful, like all her music. Which, Bedroom Hymns- FatM again Another jezabel relevent song, this one more...suggestive and headcanony than normal canon-y Alive- Sia This one goes for Quinn, the protag of my novel, finding solace with the monsters Little Do You Know- Alex and Sierra My favorite Clow/Yue song. Little do you know how I’m breaking when you’re fast asleep...because Clow Reed is an actual fucking piece of shit. Cept when he’s a saint. But I mean. The man is a literal god and we know enough mythology to know how that goes How You Remind Me- Nickelback SHUT UP I unironically love Nickelback ok? Because i am emotionally stuck at about 2005. But I fucking love this song. I don’t have a specific mental video for it cept for the fact that there was a Descendants of Darkness AMV to it a million years ago that never left my brain Dark Matter- Les Friction One of my favorite songs for Hades. Bring me your soul, bring me your hate, in my name you will create. Like damn yes I’ll give that god everything in his name Hurricane- Hamilton soundtrack My favorite song from that musical, I can listen to it over and over gdi So Unsexy- Accoustic- Alanis Morisette Probably my favorite song by one of my favorite artists. I ugly-cry so fucking hard at this because shit it hits close to home. All The THings She Said - Tatu What can i say, this song made me stop mid drawing and go, wait, am i gay? Spoiler alert, yes.
Heart Shaped Box- Nirvana When I was like 5, 6, 7, my brothers were super into Nirvana, and they were both pretty talented at covering their songs, and would sing and play guitar for me and my older sister. i always asked him to play heart shaped box for me, because I was, ya know, 5, and all i knew was a hear shaped box sounded like a pretty thing. I don’t have a whole lot of memories of my older brothers, especially not happy ones. Things were really shit in my family growing up. my siblings were always getting kicked out of the house, or on drugs, or smashing windows, or having breakdowns. But Heart Shaped Box always makes me 5 years old, sitting in the basement on the orange and brown and green carpet from the 70′s, playing Super Nintendo while my brothers sing. Honorable mention- Silent Running - Mike and Mechanics I’ve had a story half formed in my head inspired by this song since I was 11 and it’s finally coming out. How about @deadalchemist-library

Let's spice it up! 5, 13, & 16 for Mic?
OOH YES LOVE A PRESIDENT MICHAEL.  he’s my friend.
5.  Guilty pleasures
Present Mic is a man of little shame so his “guilty” pleasures are few and far between but he is a tiny bit embarrassed of the fact that he unironically likes really bad nightcore remixes and listens to them a lot.  He also likes Nickelback and you can’t change my mind.
13.  What gets them flustered
Genuine flattery and affection gets Mic flustered no matter what.  Because he’s lowkey famous, he’s often being called cool and stuff, and make no mistake, he drinks that shit up like nothing else-- but it’s the soft, earnest and heartfelt compliments that make him clam up and go red all the way to his ears.  Anything that might not be noticed right away and stuff like that makes his heart skip a beat.  Also he will die if you gently brush his arm that’s his weak spot.
16.  Dark secrets/’skeletons in the closet’
Despite what BNHA conspiracy theorists might say, I reaaaaally doubt that he has anything like that.  Mic is highly intelligent and definitely has the potential to be sneaky and devious, but he’s a very transparent guy and I think he values honesty and integrity a lot-- It’s part of the reason he and Aizawa are able to be friends:  Aizawa can’t stand fakeness or anything put on, and even though Mic can grate on his nerves, he knows that he’s sincere.  If he had any kind of “dark secret” it would be something silly like that his hair isn’t a natural blonde and that he dyes it to keep up the illusion, but he that he still feels guilty for hiding.

i was tagged by @friendlybomber !! here is my embarrassing music list
Rules: Set your entire music library on shuffle and report the first 10 tracks that pop up! Then choose 10 additional friends.
1. Lullaby by Nickelback - yes i love nickelback unironically leave me Alone I used to listen to them 24/7 in middle school
2. Girls! Girls! Girls! by Emilie Autumn - this one is mostly on there because of the line “girl-on-girl caught lesbiating” and also I love Emilie Autumn
3. Jenny by Studio Killers - someone said “explicitly gay music video” and that was really all I needed, the fact that it’s also so good is a+ I listened to it for 2 solid days when I first found it
4. Alphabet Boy by Melanie Martinez - there was a point where half of my music playlist on youtube was Melanie Martinez because I love all of her music
5. Acapella by Karmin - I think I found this on an amv and after 2 solid days of listening to it exclusively I found it on its own to add to my playlist lmaoo
6. Hit and Run by LOLO - I definitely found this one on a Harley Quinn video and, again, after 2 solid days of listening to it I went to find it. you might notice a pattern by now
7. Take Me to Church cover by Neon Jungle - one of my favorite songs sung by beautiful women without changing the pronouns??????? it’s perfect
8. This Is How It Goes Down by P!nk - I just really love P!nk and 80% of her music reminds me of one of my ex’s in a cathartic way and it’s gr8
9. Make A Move by Icon For Hire - there was a time I was like. exclusively listening to music via danganronpa mv’s for some reason despite me having 0 interest in danganronpa and I’m not even sure why youtube was suggesting them to me?? but this song was on my favorite video
10. Gunpowder and Lead by Miranda Lambert - found This one during a kind of talent show at relay for life a couple years ago and I Love It, again in a really cathartic way

Secret Trash Songs that I *LOVE*
We all have those songs that if it starts playing on our shuffle while we are in public we skip it as fast as humanly possible, but in secret that song is your JAM. And I support the mess out of that because whether you are a secret fan of Nickelback or really bad trap music it doesn’t matter because it makes *you* happy. It’s okay if you don’t want to brag to your friends about how you know all the the lyrics from Justin Beiber’s song “Baby”, but never feel shame about your music taste because that is the stuff that brings you joy and you should never feel ashamed for feeling happy. Sooo, to encourage this belief I will share some of my secret songs. Because here is the thing you guys, I am a secret pop princess. Not like Top 40 hits that play on the radio, I mean like early 2000s white girl pop that is super over produced and usually played as a joke in TV shows and movies. BUT GUESS WHAT, I LOVE THEM AND I DON’T CARE SO HERE WE GO
1. Clumsy- Fergie: That’s right, we are jumping right into this. Here is how much I love this song. When I was in fourth grade we had some family friends over and there was this one kid that I had a crush on. Well, because I come from a music family we had the radio on as background noise because we always do and then this song came on. My mom made me sing it in front of everyone (btw I sound like a dying cat singing), *including* said crush, and even with this super cringey embarrassing story I still love this song. That’s true love
youtube
2. Sweet Escape- Gwen Stefani: I remember singing this with my mom on road trips (my family also travels often) and just singing her love this song made me love it too. Plus its just a super fun song.
youtube
3. Hollaback Girl- Gwen Stefani: Thats right! Not one BUT TWO Gwen Stefani songs. But let me explain myself for this one, its actually a really good song to run to and I just feel victorious listening to it. Plus, this song taught me how to spell bananas.
youtube
4. Sk8r Boi- Avril Lavigne: Yes, I unironically listen to this song. I love the story!
youtube
5. So What- P!nk: This is also due to my mom. She had this CD when I was really little, like kindergarten. I used to think that this was the coolest, most rebellious thing ever.
youtube
Okay, now that we have cleared up how much of a trashy person that I am. Love you guys and I hope that you come back tomorrow :3
