karasuno first years out late w/ their s/o
request:Â Could you write how 1st years (yachi too plsđ„ș) going out with their s/o late at night ?
a/n: this is such a cute little concept i --Â
[KARASUNO FIRST YEARS OUT LATE AT NIGHT WITH THEIR S/O]
-tsukishima, kageyama, yamaguchi, hinata, yachi
tsukishima kei.
not gonna lie, heâs often awake late at night. heâs a night owl and doesnât mind sacrificing his sleep to watch some youtube videos
occasionally, he even goes out late at night, slipping past his parents and brotherâs room and softly closing the front door with his headphones covering his ears and his hands stuffed in his pockets
so when you text him at 3am and ask if he can go out with you to the convenience store, he agrees in seconds to meet you at the halfway point between your houses
wastes no time in putting on his sneakers and a hoodie; he wants to get there quickly so that you arenât left out by yourself
tsukishima knows thereâs creeps out there, which is exactly why he jogs to the halfway point and is relieved when heâs the first one there
as soon as he sees you in the distance he fast walks to catch up to you, and slips his hand into yours
he totally brings bluetooth earbuds so that you two can listen to the same music instead of his wired headphones <3 uwu
is always on the lookout for any weirdos, and if he spots someone eyeing you up he shoots them the nastiest glare
eventually wraps his arms around your shoulder while your hand is sitll in his and its that cute little thing where your arms is across your chest holding his hand </3
pays for whatever you get at the store, ignores your complaints and tells you to shut up when you continue to insist on paying
âim trying to be a good boyfriend for once, for the love of god PLEASE shut upâ
secretly takes a candid photo of you at some point in the night and sets it as his home screen -- NOT his lock screen, and when you see it he outright denies having taken it
tsukishima: you told me to take a picture of you
you: stop lying i know youâre a closet hopeless romanticÂ
convinces you to stop at the park and eat the snacks you both got there, music still humming in your ears as the moonlight washes you both in cool tones
tsukishima when heâs alone with you is so soft -- he literally kisses your hand and temple and mutters very softly âlove youâÂ
all in all, tsukishima kei is the perfect night-owl boyfriend to go on snack-runs withÂ
kageyama tobio.
"why would i go out right now. do you know what time it is. i have practice in the morningâ
kags really out here kinda hurtinâ your feelinâs ngl boy doesnât understand the vibes LOL
honestly you probably woke him up, heâs asleep at like ten every night (even tho he still has homework to do he just flat-out ignores it LOL)Â
only agrees to go out walking with you because you said he could bring his volleyball and youâd toss a few for him....and also because heâs a little worried because itâs so dark out
doesnât walk with you to the park but meets you there LOL
he deadass has his wholeass duffel bad with the ball, two waterbottles, two towelettes, volleyball sneakers and everything
âyou know,,,,weâre not playing a game, right, tobio?â
âyeah???? and??? whatâs your pointâ
acts nonchalant but is totally having fun and is lowkey glad you asked him to go out so late because itâs cool out, thereâs no one to bother him, and you just look...really good under the stars
heâs not a cheesy person but...god you just take his breath away sometimes. not that heâll ever say that though
you ask to take a break like thirty minutes in because you are LITERALLY dying meanwhile he hasnât even broken a sweat (âyouâre already tired? maybe you should workout moreâ âshut UP kageyamaâ)
you both sit on the bench, and youâre lowkey waiting for him to reach for your hand but theyâre just folded in his lap as he stares out in the nothingness of night
kageyama canât take a hint. we know this. heâs incapable of knowing what you want unless you flat out tell him; so you have to be a very honest person
he doesnât even really initiate skinship, not because he doesnât want to, but just because it never really crosses his mind
plus he doesnât feel the need to constantly show affection because he thinks itâs obvious that he likes you
despite this, he is good at spotting weird people, and heâs pretty protective of you, so youâre completely safe with him. trust him, heâll keep you safe
all in all, have patience and stamina because kags will play volleyball with you until you pass out. also, he loves youÂ
yamaguchi tadashi.
is in bed by 11pm but doesnât actually go to sleep until two am because heâs scrolling through tiktok on his phone
sees your text about wanting to go out for a late night walk and maybe go through the little forest near your house and automatically sends a text that says âill meet you at your window! can you pack some snacks? :)â
he walks all the way to your house, even if itâs more convenient to meet halfway because he wants to protect you! heâs not the strongest nor is he the most intimidating, so all he really has to offer is his presence
despite not being strong nor scary, yams literally has eagle eye. you canât tell me that he canât read people in a heartbeat -- heâs extremely perceptiveÂ
also texts you to not bring a jacket because heâs bringing on of his own for you !!! so sweet what the hell
he waits at your front door and when you step out he automatically pushes his volleyball jacket into your hands and he takes the bag of snacks from you and sticks out one of his hands UGH such a gentleman
lets you ramble about anything and stares at your side profile as he listensÂ
joins in with a few quips here and there but ultimately is pretty quite and lets you speak or lets the silence cozy into the conversation
sees that thereâs a guy sitting on a bench up the road and he switches places with you so that youâre further away from the strangerÂ
also wraps a protective hand around your waist until you both are past the random dude but yams will glance behind yall every once in a while
when you two reach the mini forest he ends up taking the lead claiming that he knows a good spot
and damn, heâs right
itâs a little clearing that is illuminated solely by the moonlight and he sets the bag of snacks down beside him before sitting down himself, apologizing for not bringing a blanket that you two could sit onÂ
pats the spot next to him so that you sit right beside him and he leans back with his hand on yours ONGMIRGÂ
is the super cheesy type and tells you that you look really pretty and that,,,he kind of wants to kiss you
you: *experiencing heart palpitations* and you did this for what.Â
yamaguchi: ...because i love you?
you: *K.O*
all in all, yamaguchi is the boyfriend that completely indulges your late-night escapades <3Â
hinata shoyo.
is either completely fast asleep and doesnât see your text or was awake and not planning to sleep for the next five hours, no in-between
but if heâs awake and sees your text, he agrees right away and asks where you want to meet up and what time because homeboy probably has to bike to get there AgAGAGAGA
literally doesnât even show up in sneakers. heâs wearing sandals and shorts with a short sleeve topÂ
âi came in my pjsâ
âi see that.â
asks if you two can bike around instead because he doesnât want to have to wheel his bike around for like an hourÂ
he tells you to hold on tight because the bike was built for one person, and when you press against his back his warmth is literally so,,,comfortingÂ
has no sense of awareness and will scream going down a hill in the middle of a neighborhood, no fucks given
so, no, he doesnât notice any weriod people even if there are some around
you always end up running into some weird people and you get new interesting stories every other day because letâs be honest hinata is a magnet for crazy shit and crazy people (usually crackheads)Â
you both just ride around as he talks about his day, usually his sister always comes up in the conversation( âshe asked me to marry you the other dayâ âdoirhgAEROIHFGRE SHOYO WHATâ âwhat? i told her i would. i keep my promises!â)
after like thirty minutes he begs for a break and you stop at a little 24/7 ice cream store that is run by the sweetest elderly couple
you share a sundae because you donât want to eat too much this late at night
he plops on the bench right outside the store with his bike leaning against the metal handles, and h snuggles up to you and watches you scroll on your phone
he talks a little here and there, but for the most part, he goes quiet, and itâs during this time where youâre unaware of his gaze that he just takes his time drinking in your features in the yellow light of the lamppostÂ
he canât read the mood most times, but this time he does, and he stays quiet, and he thinks to himself
that he really will marry you one day
all in all, hinata gives you the impulsive young teenage experience of late night bike rides while eating his fair share of ice cream
yachi hitoka.
another either or, except this time sheâs either fast asleep or stressing over homework and the nine tests she has the next day
when you ask if she can go on a walk with you sheâs hesitant because she doesnât want to get in trouble with her mom and sheâs a total goody goody and terrified of doing anything reckless; but then she remembers that her mom was on a business trip and so she, very cautiously, says yes
you: good. iâm outside your door btw
yachi: i never had a choice did i
you have to meet her at her house because sheâs way too scared to walk by herself at night; she might even make you factime her as you commute because sheâs worried for you
jumps at every little thing, even the crows cawing make her shit herself
instictively grabs onto your sleeve and nervously look around the entire time, to the point where she doesnât hear what you say
so you offer to go to a little cafe thatâs still open and right away she nods
sheâs so adorable, she bows really deeply when you two walk into the store and apologizes for it being so late
and finally, because you two are safe, sheâs calm and smiling as she sips at her strawberry smoothie
awkwardly and very shyly reaches out for your hand on the table and gently lays her palm on yours
canon: yachi totally has freckles and you canât convince me otherwiseÂ
her face is red and her freckles are just on display you canât help but coo at her and tuck some hair behind her ear because god could she get any cuter?
you two end up staying for like a hour and a half and very shyly she asks if you could walk her homeÂ
and this time on the walk sheâs not overly cautious and seems to enjoy the nighttime breeze and your hand softly clasping hers
does that cute thing where she lays her head on your shoulder or arm while you both are walking and looks up at you through her eyelashes and asks if you could give her a kiss on the cheek </3
you: stop. please. im going to die.
when youâre at her door she literally just stands there awkwardly for a few seconds before tilting her head upwards and pressing her lips to yours and then promptly running inside
video calls you three seconds afterwards to make sure you get home safelyÂ
all in all, you might need to be the impulsive one, but yachi enjoys spending late night time with you more than she admits. also please kiss her thanks   Â

Arvin Russell - The preacherâs sins (1/2)
Requested by an anon, please enjoy it! It was too long, so I divided it in two parts. Iâll post the next one tomorrow!
Plot: there is nothing bigger for you than the love you feel for Arvin Russell. Not a lot of people can awaken what he does in you, with his cheeky smile and chocolate eyes. Now, a stranger threatens to break that bond, manipulating where it hurts the most.
Warnings: Itâs the devil all the time, and you know the preacher. So if youâre reading this, itâs because youâre alright with whatâs about to happen. Anyway, violence and manipulation.
Arvinâs car was waiting for you when your shift at the cafĂ© ended. You couldnât keep the smile off your face when you thought about the upcoming events; a whole weekend just for the two of you, in your house since your parents were away in a business travel. That meant you could sleep in the same bed, have your own space and dream about finally moving in together. As you crossed the street jogging, your bag hanging from your left shoulder, you thought you could get used to it.
He was smoking, looking ahead and lost in his thoughts. Some wild strands of hair had fallen on his face, making him look a bit more childish that usually. Arvin Russell looked as handsome as ever, and for two whole days, would be handsome only for you.
âArvâ you announced your presence when you climbed in the seat beside him, rubbing your arms in an attempt to get ride of the rainâs coldness.
âHey, pretty girlâ
Arvin dropped his denim jacket over you, and while you put it on, he threw his cigarrete through the windowâs car, moving his hand around to get ride of the smoke. Once he made sure you wouldnât choke with it, he closed the carâs windows and looked at you with a half-smile.
âI canât believe itâs finally happeningâ you giggled softly, enjoying that moment of excitement and peace.
âHope ya havenâ changed your mindâ Arvin quickly pressed his lips against your cheek, before starting the car. âHow was work?â
As you started talking about a cute dog which owner had let you pet, Arvin drove you to your house. He managed to listen to the story, drive safely and sneak a hand so that he could hold yours.
During most of the weeks, it was hard to see him. He was busy with his family and his part times job, taking what he could to earn a little money. Lenora took a lot of his time too, because she often got picked up by the bullies at highschool and Arvin insisted in picking her up every day. Then, he went with her to the grave yard to visit his mother, and he stayed with her until she finished. Sometimes, he would sneak for a few minutes and come visit you in the café, ordering the cheapest thing in the menu and watching you for afar.
Neither of you had a lot of free time. Your family, humble and hard-working, was also very conservative, so even if they accepted your relationship with Arvin, they didnât like when he stayed at night. His family didnât have a lot of free space neither, and if they had they didnât see with good eyes sleeping together before marriage.
That week hadnât been different. You had been working every afternoon until the sun came down, and then drove back home. The only difference was that you had been stopping briefly at the church, to talk with the new preacher. You knew Arvin didnât like him â which was why the mood darkened on the way to your house.
âHe ainât good, Y/Nâ he grumbled, briefly looking at you.
âYou donât know him, itâs just â heâs new here, he needs a chance to prove himselfâ you defended. âI know what he did to your grandma was wrong, but we canât judge him by one mistake!â
âIt wasnâ just one mistake. He talks and talks âbout how everyone is a sinner but âimâ Arvin protested.
âArvin, pleaseâ you shifted closer to him and placed a hand on his arm. âItâll be just a few minutes. He told me he needed my help with something, you donât even have to see him.â
The preacher, indeed, had told you the previous day that he wanted to meet you in the church on Friday. You hadnât told him your plans with Arvin, even if he was kind of interrupting your peaceful weekend with your boyfriend; probably, because you knew he wouldnât approve you spending the night with him.
Deep inside, you knew that Arvin was probably right; he always was at the end, no matter what he was talking about. He was the one who said that the boy who Lenoraâs was after wasnât a good man, and now he had fun chasing her with a bag and awful words. There was something about the preacher that you didnât like either, but you still didnât know what. For now, you wanted to be on his good side.
âSo? Can we stop?â
âIâd feel better if notâ Arvin scoffed. âBut I guess thatâs a yesâ
Arvin stopped on the graveyard, an empty place where the sun was setting already. It was dark and silent, and even you, who wanted to stop, were starting to reconsider the decision. You looked out the window, seeing that the churchâs door was open and a dim light could be seen from the inside. Arvin exited the car without another word, and you knew he was pissed. He wasnât too keen on sharing his feelings, even more when they werenât of love or happiness.
You had been dating for seven months officially, and it had been ten since he asked you for a date after your shift at the café. There was no way you could make him talk about it and comfort him before the sun disappeared completely, so you decided to ignore him and walk towards the church. Still, before entering you looked back, half expecting him to be ready to leave and pick you later. But he had lighted up another smoke and was leaning against the car, looking to his feet.
Much less happier than before, you entered the church. You wanted nothing more than Arvin to be happy, and if you were up to wish anything, for him to have a better relationship with the rest of Knockemstiff; starting with the preacher.
He was sitting in the first row, reading from a small book. The faint lights you had seen came from the candles, which made the place much more scarier than usually. You didnât think anything about it, not even when you made yourself heard by calling him and he told you to close the door. It was a cold, October day, so you guessed there was nothing wrong with it. After looking at Arvin once more, and receiving no smiles, you closed the door behind you.
âWhat did you want me for, preacher?â
âCome sit with me, Y/Nâ he patted the bench beside him, and you approached him. âYou ever read the bible?â
âUm, a little. Lenora reads to me sometimes, a-and from what I hear on Sundaysâ you explained, not really wanting to say it out loud.
The truth was that you had never learned how to read. You had had to drop out of highschool at a young age because your mother had fallen ill, and your father couldnât manage the family business on his own. With no money to buy books or material, your father had you help in on the shop. You were good with numbers, from years of experience, and you were starting to know what some words were written like thanks to Lenora and Arvin. But not a lot of people in Knockemstiff knew that you didnât write the orders down in the cafĂ© because you didnât know how.
The preacher hummed, finally raising his eyes from the small book on his lap. He shifted closer to you, until you were sure you could hear his heartbeat. He showed you what he had been so focused on, and while you knew some of the letters, it all looked like garbage.
âThis is my favourite partâ he said, his voice soft but with a sharp edge. âMom used to read it to me every night, too. You know it?â
âU-um, yeahâ you said. Quickly, you tried to search for a word that you could understand. Lenora always read to you a passage of the bible when you went to their house, and maybe you could know what was it about. However, the preacher closed the bible before you had time to find it.
âGod is merciful and benevolent, Y/Nâ he stretched one arm behind your shoulders, and you felt tears run to your eyes when you understood he knew it. It wasnât something to be ashamed of â Arvin had managed to convince you it wasnât, but you felt embarrassment crawl through your spine. âHe forgives us all, all of our sins. But you know what is what he doesnât forgive? Liesâ
The back of your hair was grabbed with so much force that you emitted a low cry. If the door had been open, maybe Arvin would have heard you. But he angrily pacing around the graveyard, thinking about how he shouldnât be so hard with you, and you were too afraid and embarrassed to scream any louder.
You were met with the preacherâs hard eyes, hateful and unforgivable. The back of your head throbbed from how hard he was gripping it, and finally a lonely tear made its way down your cheek. It seemed to offend him more, because he squeezed harder.
âYou think youâre worthy of stepping into this temple?â he hissed, his hot breath making you shudder. âYou think I wouldnât find out that you canât read? Or that you spend the nights with that boyfriend of yours?â
âPreacher ââ
âShut the fuck up!â
The nice man who you had been talking to the rest of the week disappeared in thin air, and you were thrown to the ground with a force you didnât know the kind preacher had. A small cry of pain left your lips as your right wrist bent awkwardly against the edge of the bench, and you tried to move away. But the preacher had other ideas, because he hoisted you up until his face was inches away from you again.
You were sure he would just bash your head against the bench and Arvin would only have your cold body for the weekend when his face morphed, and that calm that always surrounded him was back. He sat on the bench again, and put his head against his hands, as if he was in deep thinking. Before you could think about running out of there screaming Arvinâs name, the preacher talked.
âGet nakedâ

New anon here <3
Match up for PotC?
General:
- Fem identifying + she/her if you need my pronouns
- Polyam and possibly bi (for now I'm only romantically attracted to males so)
- Academically smart + gamer
- I love drawing, learning languages and playing games (though you can't do that in those times)
- I also don't mind playing poker or mahjong so
- Mental state is questionable (I'm going to therapy so you be the judge /lh)
Personality:
- My personality changes from: Chaotic/happy - very unstable - Soft/cute - s e x (/hj)
- I've been known by friends and aquaintences to be... very confident/outgoing? Apparently I give off the vibes of 'F u im gonna be me and not care about anyone's judgements'
- My sense of humour is cursed and chaotic
- Speaking of, I am quite a chaotic person in general
- I'm also quite energetic? People say I'm always very cheerful
- That's a lie I'm just good at masking lmao
- I'm pretty indecisive too ohno
- Anyway, I'm VERY empathic/caring. I am literally part of an online support group full of strangers so we can all help each other
Looks:
- I am pretty small (5'2 or something)
- Also literally as slim as a stick (not like skeleton/unhealthy, just like... very skinny) đ
- I have long straight black hair and brown eyes
- Small face shape too I think
- Pretty flat (both chest and butt) but I think I've got decent hips imo đ€
- My fashion is as variable as my taste in men tbh
- Sometimes im the cute girl with short pleated skirts, oversized sweaters, flowy dresses, knee high socks, Mary Jane shoes, pink blushy makeup and soft strawberry pinks
- Sometimes I be put here with leather jackets, suits, bold black liner + red lipstick and g strings
- And sometimes im looking like a sl-tty e girl idk man đ€·

Relationship stuff:
- I'm pretttty big on PDA
- I like holding hands, hugs, kisses
- What I absolutely adore is having a hand on the waist + being picked up bridal style
- Being hugged from behind is cute too <3
- Romantic gestures that are more verbal such as compliments, letters and such are cool, just not as good as PDA lol
- Oooo speaking of I would love getting jewellery or clothes from bf bc then I can wear it as if to prove to others we're together and stuff :)
- I think i would probably suit a more casual one rather than go straight into 'I love you' tho ofc later on I wouldnt mind
- I don't mind most dates, though movies + museums are probably not my thing lol
- I don't mind a bit of clinginess, but I detest constant messages/texts like leave me alone
- As for my pref in men, as long as ur taller and masc I'm good man
Extra:
- I saw u could do a theme song and I think that would be super cool!!
- If there's like... one person I wouldn't like to be matched with it would be any of the Turners (sorry lol)

- TYSM FOR READING THIS ILYSM đđđ
Hello dear đ, thanks for your request.
For potc I ship you with:
Jack sparrow đŽââ ïž
And
Hector Barbossa đ
Jack met you through tortuga, he was sailing to find the fountain of youth.
You were captured with jack and black beard to find it.
Jack was whisping you away, he lost the pearl however to the captain.
He tried to make amends with you by showing how romantic he can be.
Jack is more passionate and romantic while Hector's more genuine and somewhat heartfelt.
Barbossa wanted to find Jack but at the same time he also wanted the pearl and find you.
Jack rarely was committed but he for the first time wanted to be with you.
Angelica got jealous most of the time and had you do the dirty work.
Barbossa didn't exactly share his feelings, he wasn't used to romance but he would be would reveal something to you.
Jack has more experience, he was quite more passionate and confident in what he knows.
Expect sword fighting and arguing between the two.
If you choose jack, he would marry you on the pearl and your kid would be the next pirate lord. They would have his eyes and your hair.
Your theme song with jack:
If you chose barbossa, he would marry you as a pirate bride and your kid would be a pirate or landlubber. They would have your hair and his eyes.
Your theme song with barbossa:
Anyways that's all I have for now:
Ta Ta âšïž

iâm watching schittâs creek & im at the episode where david tells patrick to go on a date w a guy who gave him his number bc he hasnât been with anyone besides david & then he rlly regrets it & patrick says he couldnât do it etc. & i thought itâd be so cute if you wrote something like this for robbe & sander!
It's a new bar, one that Robbe has never been to, as far away from home as possible but it feels oddly familiar. Robbe feels a little like that night where he and Noor had a fight, screaming in front of everyone, both of them extremely tired of not understanding each other. They were screaming but talking very different languages.
Robbe doesn't feel like drinking but he takes a sip anyway. It's still early, he notices by the time in his phone screen but he's not used to being out this late. Most of his nights are spent inside, with Sander, the very last person he should be thinking about tonight.
This is a horrible idea and Robbe didn't voice his concerns when they talked about this. Milan and Sander are more experienced than him and so he wanted to check if they were right. It feels wrong and weird now thatâs happening and he feels like it's an out of body type of experience. He plays with the folded napkin in between his fingers like it doesnât mean anything. While still trying to experience this night as a normal guy should, Robbe can't stop thinking that he didn't really do what he was supposed to.
You're young and you've never experienced...you know, being out and gay and single, Milan told him, somehow thinking Sander's line of thought wasn't absurd, sitting next to him on the couch of Robbeâs old home, unable to keep his gaze for long. Robbe went to the flat in hopes of Milan being the one able to change Sander's mind, tell them both how dumb that idea was and it happened the complete opposite way: he looked at them, first at Sander, then at Robbe, and he stuttered a little bit but ended up encouraging them to give it a try, just for one night to see how it would feel.
It didn't mean like anything should happen but Milan thought the experience was valid. Sander thought so too and Robbe was curious after hearing them both. Was he missing that much being in a monogamous relationship?
He still doesn't know how he's holding a napkin with a new number written in it. Robbe didn't flirt purposefully and somehow, he talked to a guy - he can't even remember much of his face, if he was handsome or good to talk to - and the stranger gave him his number before walking away.
Robbe tilts his head back and finishes his beer, pulling his wallet out to pay for the three or four beers he drank in the past two hours he's been sitting on this same stool, hating this out-to-flirt-and-meet-strangers night.
At least now he can say he tried and it wasn't his thing. He can tell Sander maybe his thing is to be attracted to people he already knows, just to make it sting a little in Sander, thinking about his past crush on Jens too. Robbe asks for a bottle of water on his way out, feeling his skin a little too sensitive, his head heavy and empty at the same time. He should take a cab to go home because the beers are clearly weighting on him but he needs the long walk. He can also make a few stops to text both Milan and Sander, tell them it didn't work.
As he's leaving, he runs into the most familiar face staring at him with big eyes, his chest moving fast, out of breath and his cheeks bright red.
âHiâŠ?â Robbe asks, feeling guilty even though nothing happened to make him feel that way.
âHi...you okay?â Sander answers with another question, keeping the door open so Robbe can step outside into the warm night.
He nods his head, still confused as to what is Sander doing there, the bar out of both their ways exactly so Robbe wouldn't accidentally run into his boyfriend when he was supposed to be having a taste of what a single life is.
"How...was it?â Sander stands closer, making Robbe lose a little bit of his balance, that's how close they are.
It was shitty, a terrible idea. I feel stupid. âI have a stranger's number.â
Sander looks surprised, his eyes still big like a wild animal staring at bright headlights.
âAnd you're thinking about calling them?â
Robbe sighs, feeling so tired mentally, âOf course not! What the fuck do you think, Sander?â
âFuck, I don't know, Robbe! I don't want you to! But you can if you want...We decided that you should try to experience life a little bit.â
Robbe moves away, leaning against the wall outside the bar, still hearing the music inside. Sander shoves his hands inside the pockets in his jacket, turning on is heels to stand in front of Robbe, waiting for him.
âYou know I hate bars. And after tonight, I'm more than sure I don't need to experience anything.â
Sander relaxes his shoulders, clearly in relief, looking up to the sky for a second before coming to stand right next to Robbe, leaning against the wall too, his shoulder pressed against Robbe's.
âIt won't change anything if you decide to go on a date with whoever it is, you know?â
âWhy are you being so pushy about this?â
âBecause I want you to be sure that I'll always support you! No matter what.â
âI don't want to go anywhere with anyone! Tonight was a fucking nightmare, Sander.â
Robbe puts his head back, looking at the sky with not a single cloud in sight, just countless stars. He can feel Sander staring, and his warm hand quietly looking for Robbe's, hidden inside his jacket sleeve. They finally hold hands, Sander holding his so tightly.
âI'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to make this a terrible night for you. I wanted you to have fun.â
Robbe snorts because the only thing he didn't have tonight was fun. He looks at Sander, his cheeks taking forever to go back to the sun kissed tone he always has during summer.
âWhat are you doing here anyway?â He frowns and Sander lifts his eyebrows like he does when he's trying to avoid talking about something.
âI came to rescue you.â
âRescue me?â
Sander turns his head, properly looking at him, always giving Robbe goosebumps.
âI regretted my idea.â
âOh, you did, huh?â
Sander snorts, pulling Robbe to turn and stand in front of him, leaning against his body, with his hands sitting around Sander's neck.
âYeah. It was a bad one, I'm sorry.â
âTook you long enough to understand.â
Sander presses their bodies even closer, hiding his face against Robbe's neck.
âI'm sorry, cutie!â
âI forgive you.â Robbe kisses his hair, wishing he could climb on Sander and not let go for a few hours.
âI was so jealous, I had to hold myself back from coming earlier.â
âYou didn't miss much, just a few beers.â
âAnd a stranger's numberâŠâ Sander bites his neck and Robbe complains, pushing him back but Sander keeps them in place with both his arms tightly around Robbe's waist, âI ordered some pizza, it's probably waiting for us at home.â
âYou left after ordering it?â Robbe laughs and Sander grunts, leaning against the wall again, rolling his eyes.
âYes, Robin. I couldn't wait for a fucking pizza while you were out and about. I asked my dad to get it for me.â
Robbe feels his mouth water, thinking about that cheese pizza that they always order when they're at Sander's place.
âI'm starving.â Robbe thinks out loud and Sander nods his head.
âGood. Let's go home then.â

dirtbags // 2: Lola
Summary: High school AU, 1984, Winter. Itâs hard to make friends when youâre the new kid starting halfway through Junior year, but slowly Lola seems to be making a few. Itâs much easier to have a rumour started about you, especially when you tend to make questionable choices at parties, but thatâs much less fun.
A/N: 8173 words. Lolaâs dad is the MVP, trust me. i meant to put this out a week ago whoops!! also im allowed to reference my own Queen oc as a treat. @bluehourmotel, @misscharlottelee and again, interludes are A Softer World quotes.
[ m a s t e r p o s t ]
the best revenge is living well. the second best revenge is fire ants.
The fact that after being in town for a total of two weeks, Lolaâs closest friend is the gas station attendant a full fifteen minute drive away from her house is kind of sad. Not that sheâs disappointed to be Mickâs friend, heâs got a dry sense of humor but a good heart and heâs refreshing honesty, but sheâs been at this new school for about a week and a half, has already made out with at least one person, has possibly convinced said-personâs cousin that sheâs trying to corrupt him, and started to make a name for herself - whether itâs good or bad is yet to be seen -, and yet Mick Mars, nineteen-year-old gas station attendant, apprentice electrician, and aspiring guitar player is her closest friend.Â
But sheâs always been kind of terrible at making friends her own age.
âYou have lost all respect from me,â Mick told her on Monday morning after the party, over the counter of the gas station as heâs ringing her up for her smokes and iced coffee before she went to school, âyou could have picked anyone to mack on at that party, and you chose Tommy fuckinâ Lee?â
âHe was nice to me, what was I meant to do?â Lola declared, realizing too late that that statement revealed absolutely too much about herself to a near stranger. Mick, however, just gives her a flat look.
âYou need higher standards.â He doesnât seem too phased by her. Lola takes this in stride, and nods, agreeing with a sigh.Â
âWhat time do you finish work?â She asks, changing the subjects quickly as sheâs pulling out a bill from her back pocket, âdad said heâs happy to let you have a look at that weird light switch that doesnât do anything that I was telling you about.âÂ
âI finish at ten tonight, Iâm working a double,â he groans at the very thought of it. Lola gives him a sympathetic look, and tells him to only come around if heâs up to it, otherwise leaving it for another day.
Thatâs the day that Lola realises the whole school knows about her and Tommy at the party, that she has Art with Charlotte before lunch, and also that Charlotte canât look her in the eye.
Tuesday the school realises that sheâs not just Lola Who Gives It Up For Free At Parties, but that sheâs Lola The New Girl and that they donât know anything about her beyond that. Thereâs a guy in her wood working class with long black hair and a dangerous smile that winks at her; she flips him off, knowing all he cared about was knowing if the rumours were true. Sheâs got AP French last period with that ginger from the party who wouldnât stop laughing, Eileen; sheâs a lot more serious, sober. The cheerleader, Heather, wonât stop giving her these weird, calculating looks.
Wednesday thereâs a new rumour, that she was expelled from her last school. The population of the school hasnât decided what exactly they think she was expelled for yet. Turns out she has English with that guy from her woodworking class, he just hadnât turned up for their lesson on Monday; he sits at the back like Lola, in the other corner, and the teacher calls him Nikki in a tone like sheâs already disappointed. Lola can see why, he fell asleep at his desk. Art last period with Charlotte; she still barely looks at Lola.Â
Thursday. Heather asks in AP French if Lolaâs heard what everyoneâs saying about her; her tone is sweet and dangerous in equal measure and Lola doesnât trust whatâs about to come out of her mouth. The new rumour is that Lola was expelled for sleeping with a teacher; something about the glint in Heatherâs eye is cruel, and Lola asks her sweetly if sheâs more jealous of Lola or the teacher. That shuts Heather up fast, and Eileenâs cough behind them sounds more like sheâs trying to hide a laugh. But it still gets to her; Lola focuses so hard on ignoring the girls gossiping loudly about her at their station behind her in Home Economics that she burns the apple danishes she was attempting, and she throws the burnt pastries, and the tray theyâd been cooking on, into the bin until she realises her mistake and sulkily fishes the tray out again. Thankfully, the teacher didnât notice.
Friday, and Lola hasnât paid much attention to Vince, whose house sheâs been to but who she hadnât properly met until their classes had P.E at the same time; heâs in the year below her, but still manages to sidle up to her while theyâre both waiting for their teachers to prepare the field for whatever torture theyâre masquerading as physical exercise today. She tells him to fuck off; thereâs something about the way he conducts himself that she doesnât like, like heâs putting on a show of being shallow and vain and the life of the party. Instead, Vinceâs voice goes quiet and he tells her that Tommyâs a good kid with a good heart -
âYou give this speech to everyone you caught making out at your parties, or just me, âcos you think Iâm a bitch and Iâm gonna hurt one of âyour brosâ?â She snapped, lip curling, and Vinceâs brow creases into a frown, âIâm not his fucking girlfriend, we made out a little, you donât have to act like Iâm going to break his heart, so piss off.â
A moment passes, and he appears to don his shallow, playboy mask when he asks her slyly if the rumours are true. She shoves him hard enough that he skitters back a few feet, and Lola earns her first after school detention.
The thing is, she and Tommy are already on the same page about this, it was a what happens while drunk at a party stays at that party. Or at least, itâs meant to. Either way, Charlotteâs protectiveness, and Vinceâs... attempt at protectiveness was unwarranted. Maybe itâs because Tommy, for whatever reason, has started hanging around Lola at lunch.
She doesnât sit in the cafeteria like the rest of them, or even on that little section of the roof the intimidating pack of punks, rockers, and smokers have found a way to get to. Lola sits against the fence near the science building, close to the carpark thatâs always open for some stupid reason, as though sheâs contemplating bolting.
âDonât you have friends?â Lolaâs tone is kind of hard, and perhaps her words are on the nose, and a little cruel, but itâs Wednesday, and this is the third day in a row heâs found her and spent the entirety of lunch with her. They donât speak much, Lola smokes and picks apart whatever her dadâs latest cooking experiment is before she eats it, and Tommy practices twirling his drumsticks.Â
âI have friends, do you?â Tommy responds, more than a little defensive, rubbing at his brow where heâd just managed to hit himself mid-drumstick-twirl, taken aback by her question. Lola gives him a flat look. âSomeone told me you were expelled from your last school,â Tommyâs gaze shifts to the carpark, to the last car and itâs telltale rocking and fogged up windows.
âThey say why?â
âNah,â Tommy shakes his head, scowl softening as he gets back to practicing, âit true?â Lolaâs picking out and eating the apple chunks from the slice of pie her father had packed for the day, still watching the car with the mildest of interest. She shakes her head. Tommy hums noncommittally. They spend the rest of lunch in silence.
âHe keeps hanging out with me!â The following afternoon, Lola gripes to Mick on his smoke break after she gets out of school for the afternoon.
âYou keep hanging out with me,â Mick points out, peeling the label off of a bottle of soda.
âAnd?â
âI donât tell you to fuck off.â
âYeah? So?â
âBecause,â and Mick heaves a heavy sigh, like it pains him to admit, âweâre friends, Lola,â but he pauses and amends, âGod knows why.â
âFuck you, Iâm a delight,â Lola huffs, and pulls her oversized denim jacket tighter around herself to ward off the chill of the afternoon breeze. If this were pretty much any other state, theyâd be knee-deep in snow; thank God for LA, snowâs pretty for five minutes before itâs a pain.
âDo you tell him to fuck off?â Mick asks pointedly, as if exhausted that he has to spell it out for her. Lolaâs quiet, but her answerâs clear. Mick clears his throat with a cough. Lolaâs scowl deepens.Â
She brings it up to her father that night.Â
âDo you reckon Tommyâs trying to be my friend?â She asked, gaze intense as she focuses on slicing apples into little cubes. Leo, her father, who was kneeding a blend of spices into a ball of dough that would end up being a pie crust, paused.
âThe kid who has been hanging out with you at lunch?â He thought for a moment, âthe one from the party?â
âI told him it was nothing serious-â Lola tried, exasperatedly cutting the apples a little rougher, but her fatherâs warm, gentle laugh cut her off.
âYes, I think heâs trying to be your friend,â he told her, which Lola hadnât exactly wanted to hear, but the information was easier to digest coming from him than it was coming from Mick, âhe obviously likes you -â
âBut I told him -â
âI know, you told him it wasnât serious, but dear, that doesnât mean he likes you less as a person - youâre a very cool cat, I can see why heâd want to be your friend,â he gives her finger guns, and Lola canât help but laugh softly at his attempt to be hip.Â
âChrist, dad,â Lola huffs, smiling fondly, but heâd managed to cheer her spirits considerably.Â
âI burnt my danishes today,â Lolaâs voice goes quiet as she goes back to focusing on her task, and her dad makes a noise of intrigue, âgot distracted and crisped the whole tray.â
âYouâll get âem next time; just fifteen minutes, remember?â
âFifteen minutes, no distractions,â Lola agreed, almost by rote, thankful that he doesnât ask about what had distracted her. She can still hear the whispered gossip and giggles that had come from the cooking station behind her in Home Economics.
Her dad knows that her peers think she was expelled from her last school, but she keeps her mouth shut about the fact that today theyâd decided it was because she had relations with a teacher; he knows almost everything about her, but he didnât need to know about a whole school calling her a slut. Heâd blow it out of proportion, and it isnât getting to her since she knew for a fact it wasnât true.Â
They finish the apple pie with itâs rosemary and lemongrass crust in good spirits. The flavours donât go together as well as Leo had hoped, but itâs another step closer to the perfect apple pie heâd been trying for. Leo packs her two of the leftover slices for lunch, as a not-so-subtle hint.Â
On Friday, Lola hands Tommy a plastic container with a piece of apple pie, with a rosemary and lemongrass crust in it.
âIs it poison?â He asks. Lola doesnât look at him, picking the individual apple pieces out and eating them one at a time.
âThe crust tastes weird if you eat it with the filling,â Lolaâs voice is flat as she explains instead of answering, âbut the apples are sweet.â She eats another cube of apple, then breaks off a corner of the golden, perfectly cooked crust, now cold and stiff from spending the night in the refrigerator.Â
âWhy are you giving me this?âÂ
âEat it or donât, I donât care,â Lola tells him, hunching further in on herself; like this, she canât see the way Tommyâs expression has broken out into a smile.
âThanks Lola,â but the smile is evident in his voice, confirming all of her suspicions at once. Tommy took her at her word when she said the rumours werenât true, even if the rest of the school believed them, so Lola supposes sheâs actually okay with the fact that her second ever friend in the entirety of California is the marching band geek in the year below her who she made out with at a party once.Â
Also maybe sheâs just kind of terrible at making friends.
you and me baby! we are the future! and the future is bleak.
âWait, youâve never met Nikki Sixx?â Tommy asked, sitting patiently with his back against the fence, his hand resting on her knee as she fills in the the nails of his left hand with black sharpie, âdidnât you go to his gig the other week?â
âI didnât know anyone,â Lola pointed out, and Tommy makes a thoughtful noise.
âYouâd love him, heâs so fucking cool,â he assured her, which made Lola give pause; Tommy also thinks Vince is fucking cool, and she wants to throw Vince out a window, âhe was the one on bass.âÂ
âThe one in the leather pants?â Lola couldnât help but smile at the memory; sheâd appreciated it at the time, and could appreciate it now. Tommy, however, rolled his eyes.
âThe girls love the leather pants,â he gave a quiet sigh, before adding, almost to himself, âwish I had leather pants.âÂ
âLeather pants would look good on you,â Lola pinches at his thigh for a moment, and goes back to filling in his nails. missing Tommyâs pleased, flustered little smile.Â
âYou know Freddie paints his nails like this,â Tommy says instead, changing the topic of conversation.
âFreddie?â
âMercury. From Queen; you know Queen, right?â And he sounds kind of skeptical, like if she doesnât know them, they canât be friends anymore. Lola pauses again, her hand soft on Tommyâs where sheâs filling in around his ring fingerâs cuticle.
âI wanna climb John Deacon like a fucking tree,â she mutters, which startles a laugh out of Tommy, his hand jerking up to cover his mouth, making Lola leave a black line against his knee, through the rip in his jeans. When she looks up at him, however, her eyes are shining with mirth, âcome on, man, you must have seen the video of them performing in Montreal last year!â And she licks her lips, watching Tommyâs blush grow steadily darker. After a beat, Lola bursts out laughing, shattering the tension and shifting to sit beside him, idly doodling on her own hand with the marker as Tommy shakes his head with amusement.
Lola starts humming Back Chat to herself, and Tommy leans his head back against the wire of the fence, listening for a moment.
âYou and Charlie would get along great too,â he considers, and Lola doesnât stop humming, nor does she look to him, âshe likes Roger, but probably just because she thinks heâs pretty.â Lola can hear his eyeroll without even seeing it, and sheâs not sure why, but she files that information away in the back of her mind; sheâd never gotten an especially shallow vibe from Charlotte, but there was a uncertain undeniable appeal to Roger Taylorâs pretty-boy charm.
âDidnât his girlfriend leave him for Bowie?â Lola asks mildly, barely pausing to speak between humming notes.
âRocket Mercury?â
âHer nameâs Rocket?â Lola snorts, finally looking at him, and Tommyâs lips twisted into an amused grin.Â
âHer nameâs Ash, but everyone calls her Rocket,â he says, like heâs in the know, and Lola stays quiet, nodding and trying not to laugh, âand yeah, I think so, sheâs been with a few people since him I think; Bowie, this girl from this English band Hawkwind, Elton John maybe? Or someone around him I think.â Tommy nods, and Lolaâs kind of intrigued as to why he knows so much about Queenâs drummerâs partner, but something else has caught her attention.
âA girl from Hawkwind?â Tommy doesnât seem to notice the way Lolaâs voice has softened, or how her expression has dropped to something carefully neutral. Sheâs drawing a little flower on the knuckle of her thumb.
âOne of their dancers, Stacy, maybe?â Tommyâs own tone is light, like he doesnât even realise Lolaâs hanging onto his every word regarding this one little detail about a woman she doesnât even know, âwas kind of a scandal, but it was years ago; sheâs Freddieâs sister after all, maybe itâs genetic.â
âGenetic?â
âLiking girls and guys, you know?â And he pauses. Lolaâs frozen beside him, the marker pressed hard against her skin, breath caught in her throat. He throws it out so casually, so easily. Her hands are shaking. The words so kind when he says them, so unlike what sheâs used to hearing. Tommyâs already moved on to the next thought. âactually, Iâm not sure if Freddieâs like, legit her brother, but anyways, she and Roger are back together; Iâm glad.â As if a sixteen-year-oldâs opinion on a rock legendâs love life mattered, âhe seems happier with her, all his best live shows were when they were together.â
âIâd kill to play half as well as him,â itâs almost wistful when Tommy says it, interrupting Lolaâs thoughts, his gaze trained on the sky, as if imagining heâs on stage himself. Lola lets out a long, quiet breath, recentering herself as she looks to him.
âYou wanna play drums?âÂ
âI can play drums,â Tommy tells her like itâs the most obvious thing in the world, âbut not nearly as good as Roger Fucking Taylor, can you imagine?â But Lolaâs more focused on the -
âI thought you just played in the marching band, can you play, like, full -â and she sits forward, gesturing like sheâs tapping on a full drumkit, eyes shinning. Suddenly, in the face of her rare, unrestrained smile, Tommy feels himself growing nervous, like heâll let her down if heâs not actually as good as he thinks he is.
âIâve got a kit in my garage,â he admits, and Lola pauses, letting her excitement simmer, as though realising it had gotten the best of her, breaking her cool and aloof facade.
âThatâs cool as hell,â she does add, however, and Tommy beams.
âThanks,â he mumbles, all flustered at even the slightest praise, âman, youâd really like Charlie, I know she looks all fancy and intimidating, but sheâs a real softie inside.â
âYou are really pushing hard for me to be friends with your cousin,â Lola notes, giving him a sidelong glance, and Tommyâs nose scrunches up, caught out.
âShe thinks youâre trying to corrupt me,â he grumbles, âbut if you guys met sheâd know youâre not.â
âI am corrupting you,â Lola smirks, ânext week I plan on peer pressuring you into smoking.â
âIâve smoked before!â Tommyâs up in arms, like the implication that he hasnât done something as low-level cool as smoking offends him.
âDude I was kidding, I gave you half my cigarette yesterday,â Lola reminds him, and the bell rings.
While Lola was more than happy to let sleeping dogs lie, it appeared that Charlotte was not, and less than two days after her conversation with Tommy, Lola finds herself sitting by Charlotteâs side in their shared art class.
Itâs the last class of the day, and Charlotteâs the one who sits by Lola. Thereâs no preamble, barely acknowledging the decision, just opening her notebook and focusing on the theory the teacher had already started to jot down on the whiteboard.
When theyâre given free time, however, to work on personal projects, Charlotte opens her sketchbook and sharpens her pencil, and without looking at Lola, begins speaking quietly.
âTommy thinks weâd get along,â Charlotte sounds completely innocent and perfectly harmless, but Lola remember how Charlotte had looked at her, part deer-in-the-headlights startled at the realisation, and knee-jerk protective fury, at Vinceâs party when she realised who Lola had been kissing.Â
âSo Iâve heard,â Lola doesnât look up, but Charlotteâs pencil stills on her paper. After a beat, Lola turns to see Charlotte giving her a curious look. Propping her head up on her hand, Lola gives a thin, amused smile, âhe also thinks Iâd be good friends with Nikki Sixx; was he the one you yelled at, at the gig?â
Instead of being flustered or going red at the mention of the moment, Charlotteâs expression lights up, as if the idea somehow delights her, and slowly sheâs nodding. All her earlier reservations and hostility was quickly leaving her.
âYeah, actually I told Nikki you reminded me of him, actually -â
âI remind you of Nikki?â Lolaâs grin widened, and she shifted to face Charlotte further.Â
âHeâs kind of a tool -â Charlotte blurted after a moment of contemplation, and Lolaâs eyebrows raised in amused surprise. Charlotteâs quick to backtrack, âI mean, Iâm not saying you are- well, I donât know you, but I mean, Tommy -â Charlotte frowns at that, expression falling as she considered quietly, âactually, I mean, I love him, but heâs not the greatest judge of character; he thinks Nikki hangs the stars, despite never really speaking to him,â she pauses and heaves a sigh of realisation, âthat probably why he thinks so highly of him -â
âI thought they were friends,â Lolaâs genuinely surprised, given how kindly Tommy had spoken of him.
âHalf the school is terrified of Nikki, half seems to be in love with him; Tommyâs in the second half.â
âAnd which half are you?â
âIâm the only person who seems to think heâs just kind of a pest,â Charlotteâs response is surprisingly mild, as if she doesnât quite believe what sheâs saying.
âHeâs talented, though,â Lola offers, and Charlotte looks back to her, as if brought from her own thoughts. Thereâs a pause, a lull. Lola puts down her pen, and turns more fully to Charlotte, stretching her arm out over the desk, and resting her head fully on it, like a particularly smug cat stretching out in the sun. Charlotte is slower to put down her pencil, but does so after another moment, pristine fingernails drumming against her sketchbook for a moment.Â
âHe was talented,â Charlotte agreed, thought it sounds like she doesnât quite want to, âmy ex actually got me into his kind of music, he was a fan of Nikkiâs too; Iâd tell Nikki I enjoy his music but itâd go straight to his ego,â and she casts Lola a sidelong look, lips stretched into a smirk, which Lola returns.Â
âI am a little bit of a tool,â Lola finally admits with a self deprecating grin, and Charlotte shakes her head.
âYouâd fucking love him,â Charlotte tells her, with a strained, sort of resigned huff of laughter, like the concept of them meeting was a little bit horrifying, and already exhausting.
âYou like his kind of music,â Lola circled back around to quickly, ânever pictured you as a hard rocker, youâre very...â and she trails down, looking at Charlotteâs pristine cheerleading uniform, and thick, black tights, the only thing protecting her legs from the Winter air. The blonde shifts a little uncomfortably under the scrutiny, brow furrowing.
âI know,â Charlotte says flatly, crossing her ankles, far too self aware in the moment, âyou expect me to just be listening to nothing but Abba and Madonna all day?â She sneers, suddenly haughty again, and Lola licks her lips, intrigued; she can tell sheâs pushed a button, and debates for a moment if she wants to press it further.Â
âNot all the time,â Lola said, sitting back up slowly, âbut I mean, Iâm kind of partial to Does Your Mother Know, thereâs no shame in loving Abba,â she shrugs, and Charlotte lets herself visibly relax.Â
âNever pictured you as an Abba fan,â Charlotte actually grins.
Thereâs a distinct lack of hostility in the air between the two girls by the time the class ends, after spending the entire class gushing over various bands across a surprising range of genres, and Lola quickly finds she appreciates how wrong her initial impression of Charlotte had been.
As theyâre leaving for the day, or well, Lolaâs leaving, and Charlotteâs heading to cheer practice, the conversation lulls as Charlotte grows thoughtful.
âHey, just... Tommyâs kind of a hopeless romantic,â and even as she speaks, she knows Lolaâs growing irate at Charlotteâs hesitant tone, âand honestly, the girls he goes for usually donât... they donât usually give him the time of day, and he obviously thinks the world of you, I just donât want you to -â
âIâve told him that I donât want to date him; heâs the one who keeps hanging around me,â Lolaâs own tone appears to surprise Charlotte, now that she understands the root of the other girlâs protectiveness, âweâre...â and the word catches in Lolaâs throat for a moment, knowing that speaking it makes it true, âfriends.âÂ
Lola glances at Charlotte out the corner of her eye, and sees the way Charlotteâs lips twist into a pleased little smirk.
âI was just making sure.â
love is stupid. happiness is admitting we arenât better than stupid.
Leo Fields, thirty-nine years old, owner of soon-to-be-named Leo Dinerâs in suburban LA, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, who worked in the luxurious Parker House restaurant in Boston and quit after ten years there, including three years as Sous Chef and one year as Head Chef, only to open his own 50s style diner a mere ten minutes away in Salem, has and will always claim his favourite food is Easy Cheese.
Once, a long time ago, Lola had asked him why.
Sheâs asked him a lot of things, why heâd left his high-end restaurant to essentially flip burgers, why he kept his hair long, what his tattoos meant -
Lolaâs eight, sitting on the counter and swinging her legs while Leo was crushing garlic to add to their dinner, his hair tied back into a large bun atop his head.
âPeople will try and tell you that just because something is expensive, fancy, or higher class,â Leo had rolled his eyes exaggeratedly at that, putting on a voice to make his daughter laugh, âthat itâs better; they are wrong. If something brings you joy, it is better than all things that do not bring you joy, no matter how fancy the things you donât like are,â heâd told her very seriously, âbetter is not real, better is what you believe; better for you means healthier, and thatâs real, but when people use better to mean good, they mean that itâs good in their mind, and maybe you agree, but maybe you wonât.â And he scrapes the garlic into the pan and oil cooking on low as he then began dicing onions.
âI use all my fancy training and knowledge to make foods I think are better, but now I get to also serve them with a smile, and I get to talk to the people Iâm giving the food to, get to know them, let them know theyâre welcome here,â he tries to smile while his eyes are watering from the onions, almost finished cutting them. âPeople in my old fancy restaurant didnât want that, they wanted you to think they were better than you, and if you thought their food wasnât good, thatâs because youâre not fancy enough, and youâre not welcome here.âÂ
âBut thatâs wrong,â Lola said with a slight frown, looking to her father for confirmation, and after he wiped his eyes with the back of his hands, he beamed.
âExactly,â he nodded and scraped the diced onions into the pan too, moving easily about the kitchen to pull mince from the refrigerator, âpeople liking something different to you is actually great; if everyone in the world liked Easy Cheese, weâd never be able to buy it!â And Lola laughed at that, the example making it easy for her to understand his point, âbut making them feel bad for liking those things, thatâs bad; thatâs why I have my hair long, why I have my tattoos, theyâre part of who I am, theyâre part of my familyâs history and where I come from, and I like them. If someone else is rude to me because of them, then I know right away thatâs not someone I want in my life. People like to think theyâre better than other people for stupid reasons sometimes.â
âLike if theyâre fancy or not?â Lola asks, and Leo gives her a fond smile and nod.
âLike if theyâre fancy or not.â
Leoâs not sure if Lola even remembers this, but he does. So when Lola, seventeen years old, standing in the kitchen, eating a ham and Easy Cheese sandwich after school, tells him that Charlotte, the girl in her art class, Tommy-from-the-partyâs cousin, complimented her jacket, the pin-and-patch-covered, black, denim, proto-crust-punk, heirloom heâd loaned to her since sheâd asked to wear it when starting a new school, and had barely gone a day without it, he can read into her smile even when itâs hidden behind her sandwich.
âSounds like she has good taste,â Leo leans his hip against the counter top, legs feeling the warmth of the oven where heâs got a loaf of herb and garlic bread baking away.Â
Lola spends a full twenty minutes enthusing about Charlotteâs taste in music, eyes bright and tone animated. He only interrupts her to hand her a packet of prosciutto and a bundle of asparagus, so she could help him prepare for dinner, but it doesnât slow her down, hands working quickly, while Leo boiled potatoes and simmered some garlic in butter on a low heat.Â
Both Lola and Leo know why Lolaâs been so hesitant to make friends since moving, and she knows heâd never push her into friendship, but Lola also knows it hurts him to see her lonely.
âHey dad, Iâve been meaning to ask you,â Lola says after a long pause, finally taking a breath after sheâs finished recounting her day to him, âyou know Queen, right?â
âDo I know Queen?â Leo jokingly scoffed, âLola, Iâm the one who introduced you to Queen.â He reminded, and Lola gave a small smile, but her heart wasnât in it; she wasnât usually nervous, but talking about this sort of thing still made her heart race a little. Seeing her hesitant expression, Leoâs own softens, and he turns down the potatoes to turn his full attention to her, âwhat about Queen?â
âI didnât know Freddieâs sister was with the drummer,â Lola starts, fiddling with the final piece of asparagus. Sheâs quick to follow it up before she can chicken out, âand I didnât know... sheâs like Bowie, and Fred, and... and me, you know?â Lola finally wraps up the final vegetable and places it on the glass baking tray with the rest, before she looks to her father who was watching her pensively, hoping he understands what sheâs trying to say.
âThatâs little Rocket Mercury youâre talking about, isnât it?â He asked as a smile stretched across his lips, âI heard that about her, I always thought she was so cool, she worked on Spinal Tap, you remember I took you to see Spinal Tap a few months ago?âÂ
Lolaâs heart eases in her chest at his words, his warmth, the way he seems to reflect positively on the news. While Lola knew she didnât have anything to worry about, since the whole reason Leo had taken her and moved across the country was her motherâs less-than-kind reaction to the news of Lola dating a girl, the memory of it all still made her nervous.
Leoâs entire face lights up, and he makes a loud exclamation, like suddenly remembering some vital information, snapping Lola out of her dwelling.
âHow have I never played you any Dusty Springfield?â He announces, picking up the glass tray from the table and placing it to the side, âIâve got some of her records in my collection,â the oven timer goes off and he asks Lola to watch the potatoes so they donât overboil while he takes out the bread and puts the asparagus in, âDustyâs like you too; sheâs a pop-star from the sixties, lovely voice, told the Evening Standard she liked girls and boys all the way back in nineteen-seventy.â He says as he sets the timer for the asparagus, and Lola wraps her arms around him from behind, if only to hide how wide sheâs smiling.
âShe pretty?â Lola asked, grinning against his soft, woolen sweater. Leo gently pet her hands where they were wrapped around his middle, giving a warm laugh.
âVery; itâs no wonder girls and boys liked her too.â
Lola had never seen her father flinch in the face of change, and for that she would always be grateful for him. The only time sheâd ever seen him lose his cool was when heâd come to her defense against her motherâs bigotted views; apart from that, sheâd never known anyone more willing to go with the flow.
Take last week, for instance, Mick had taken Saturday off from the gas station to go look at the fixture Lola had mentioned not seemingly connected to anything. Leo had finally had the red and white, checkered floor installed earlier that week, and the booths had been reupholstered over Thursday and Friday in a shiny, inviting, deep peach, to compliment the warm aesthetic completed by the pleasantly sunny walls.Â
One of the many things about Lola is that she know when people look at her father, they never expect him to be the embodiment of sunshine; six-foot-something, built like a tank from doing a majority of the manual labor around his diners on his own. His traditional, Hawaiian tattoos were on full display today, across his chest, arms, and legs, wearing a singlet and shorts despite it being the middle of winter, after spending all morning hauling an industrial freezer into the kitchen, with what little help Lola could offer. He wears his long, wavy black hair in a ponytail down his back; the only thing that ever betrayed the warmth of his personality was the crows feet by his eyes, the laugh lines around his mouth, and the kindness in his eyes themselves.
Leo Fields, teddy-bear in the body of a GI Joe, took one look at Mick Mars, the weary, rather scrawny teenager with barely any face visible for his long, shaggy, dyed black hair, and gave him a bright smile, ushering him inside. He introduces himself, and immediate asks what kind of music Mick listened to.
âI fucking hate Kiss,â Mick had said immediately, knee-jerk hostility, the way he was shifting his weight from one foot to the other being the only giveaway to how intimidated he felt.
âThey can be a lot some times,â Leo had shrugged, gesturing to the jukebox, âIâve already put a few of my favourites in, you wanna see if anything catches your eye?â Mick moves quietly, as if afraid to make a noise, even stepping in combat boots he barely makes a sound, and Leo makes mention that heâs going to freshen up, and that Lola knows what switch needs to be looked at.Â
âHendrix?â Mick says with a hint of pleased surprise, right before Leo leaves, and Lolaâs father gives a nod.
âPut it on, man, turn it up loud; itâs Electric Ladyland in there, right?â And at Leoâs question, Mick nods. Leo gives a delighted thumbs up, and heads upstairs to the flat above the diner.
âThatâs your dad?â Mick asks, voice low after Leoâs disappeared, hitting play on the Jimi Hendrix record. Lolaâs sitting on the counter, swinging her legs; she knows looks like him, same face, same long, dark hair, same copper complexion, itâs usually the staggering difference in their respective physicalities that seemed to trip people up, so his confusion wasnât a surprise.
âThatâs my dad,â Lola agrees, with a slight nod, looking around the warm and inviting diner that still smelled like new vinyl from the seats. Sheâd light a candle or two later.Â
Lola knows the rumours going around town about the diner, about how itâs owner was a chef, about how itâs hopefully going to serve better food than the last owners, but also how everyone knew very little about the new owner beyond that. It made her giddy, like she had a secret, to know that her father was capable of blowing their expectations out of the water with his food alone. Back in Salem, Leoâs was known for restaurant-quality food at, well, diner prices. All the fries were hand cut, there was always home made pie or slice or cookies on sale, the beef patties were made with real mince and mixed with Leoâs special blend of herbs and spices, and fish was delivered fresh, daily.Â
Lola knew her father knew what it was like to be discriminated against based on his looks, and how hard heâd fought to prove his skills as a chef, so in turn, he hired based on attitude and experience, and trying to give those who may not have had a fair shot an opportunity. Leo had always paid well, treated his workers with kindness, and tried to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. The diner had only ever made a modest profit, despite itâs popularity, but it had never been about the money for her father.
Back at Lolaâs old high school, if you were popular, you looked for a job at the mall, but if you were an outcast, a loner, or a stoner, you applied for Leoâs; her dad had the ability to bring out the best in people, no-one wanted to disappoint Leo.
Her dad would never go anything as gauche as brag, but he has always prided himself on the quality of his diner and his food, glad to be putting his years of training and experience to use for people whoâs appreciate it.Â
Mick clears his throat, snapping Lola out of her thoughts.
âLight switch?â
Mick thinks the switch probably connected to an exhaust fan the previous owner had removed, which baffled both Lola and Leo, seeing as how theyâd had several exhaust fans installed, and the idea that this place had itâs one removed is unthinkable; how had they ever gotten the smell out?
After, Leo invites Mick up to have a look through his record collection, to recommend some for the jukebox, while he attempted a maple and walnut soufflĂ©.Â
The moment Mick mentions he wants to join a band, Leo lights up, peppers him with questions, what type of music he likes to play, his influences, what type of band heâd like to form. Seemingly unused to the overwhelming interest and positivity regarding his aspirations, Mick is almost startled into being forthcoming, and quickly warms to Lolaâs dad.
While the soufflĂ©âs in the oven, the three of them sit on the roof and smoke, while Leo reminisces about seeing Cream live, a few months after Lola was born, and how heâd swaddled her in his concert shirt, only for her to take a liking to it, and had used it as a blanket up until she started daycare. At hearing this, Lola ducks her head to hide her smile, knowing she still had that shirt, though it was more hole than shirt at this point, hanging in her cupboard.Â
Occasionally, when she looks to him, Lola sees Mick regarding her with confusion, and okay, maybe she can understand why; he knows her to be reserved and dry, but with Leo, sheâs outgoing and talkative and smiles so wide he can see her teeth. Thereâs barely a hint of her aloof façade around her father, and as Mick spends more time with him, itâs clear he can see why.
âMickâs cool,â Leo announces with a grin when Mick himself has left, putting foil over the leftover soufflĂ© for later, while Lola washes the few dishes and is more than happy to agree with him.
They spend Sunday decorating the diner, making it look less sparse with photos and hanging and various bits of music and pop culture memorabilia, while the jukebox blared rock and roll. A few people pass by in time to see Lola and Leo in an air guitar competition, but neither of them really care. Leoâs looks more like home by the time the sun goes down.Â
there will always be someone better than you. but on the bright side, who cares?
Eileen sits next to her in AP French during the entire last week of school for the semester. Everything she does seems so perfectly calculated, this change in seating included, but she refuses to acknowledge it. Heather clicks her tongue, clearly annoyed that Eileen had taken the seat she had previously vacated the day Lola staked her own next to it, and judging by Eileenâs innocent little smile, that alone made it worth it.
Lola tries not to pay too much attention to Heather, pretty, mean, and popular, almost the exact stereotype Lola had assumed Charlotte to be before sheâd actually befriended her. They only have French together, but Heather keeps watching her, Lola sees it out of the corner of her eye, but her glare has become more speculative, more thoughtful as the weeks have passed, and Lolaâs not quite sure what to make of it. Whatever scathing personal attack Heatherâs probably working on is her business, she doesnât know shit about Lola, so Lola tries not to care.
Once Eileen sits next to Lola, the glare comes back in full force anyhow.
On Thursday, the last AP French lesson for the semester, Eileen offers Lola a stick of spearmint gum, and it feels kind of like a test. Lola takes the gum anyways, and Eileen smiles at her, surprisingly genuine.Â
âYouâre Charlotteâs friend,â Lola says, and Eileenâs smile widens.
âYouâre the girl who kissed her cousin,â she says. Lolaâs whole expression falls, mouth flattening into a thin, unamused line, ready to go on the defensive.Â
âAnd?â
Eileen shrugs, says nothing more on the subject, instead, glancing at Lolaâs hands.
âMy mom would kill me for wearing black nail polish, but it looks so cool on you,â She says, and Lola bites back a jaded response about her own mother, looking to her own hands, and the fresh and shiny coat of polished sheâd applied the night before.Â
âYour mom kind of sounds like an asshole, if black nail polish is enough to get her riled up,â Lola says, without even thinking about how harsh the words sounded, but once the words are out, she adds, âand I know from asshole moms,â for good measure. Internally, sheâs berating herself; if she talks about her mom, sheâs terrified that sheâs eventually going to answer questions about her mom, like where she was, and why Lola hates her.
âSheâs just a perfectionist, and I donât think black would suit me anyhow, so itâs not really an issue,â Eileen responds, as if she barely cares that Lola implied her mother was an asshole, and Lola lets herself relax a little, âIâm partial to a french tip,â Eileen holds out her hands to show her own manicure, the pale pink and white practically gleaming, obviously salon done.Â
âI coloured Tommyâs nails with sharpie,â Lola says while looking at Eileenâs elegant fingers, and Eileen actually huffs a laugh at that.
âI saw; heâs very proud of them.âÂ
Something in Lolaâs chest tightens at that; Charlotte seemed to be a good enough judge of character, and she liked Eileen well enough, so that, for now, was good enough for Lola.
Perhaps thatâs why Lola had taken so long to actually speak to Nikki Sixx, despite both Charlotte and Tommy being adamant theyâd get along, Charlotteâs proclamation that Nikki was kind of a tool held her back.
Itâs not that she doesnât know who he is; sheâs figured out the guy who sleeps through her English classes, is trying to make an acoustic guitar in shop, and who is part of her music classes - once sheâd decided to show up to those - is the same person sheâd seen on stage in leather pants back at the pub. The guy who Charlotte had yelled at. A tool. Apart from the week the rumours had started circulating about her, he never paid her much attention, so she never felt the need to introduce herself. If he was a tool, she could leave him well enough alone.
Until the first day of the Winter break, apparently. Though for the record, he was the one who spoke to her.
There were technically two music shops in the local mall, a ten minute walk from Lolaâs flat above the diner; sheâs glad to be close to the CBD, but it also means she canât justify asking her dad for a ride when it would take her less time to walk than it would for him to find parking.Â
But Monday, December 27th, was absolutely fucking freezing.Â
The mall itself is teeming with people looking to spend the money theyâd gotten over the holiday period, and the workers had already taken down the gaudy Christmas Tree that had sat in the middle of the food court.Â
Lola was there at her fatherâs behest, sticking up and handing out flyers announcing New Yearâs Day as Leoâs grand opening, and that they were hiring. She gives everyone at the food court a flyer, sticks up several in various locations, and thinks about heading back to the food court for a second round, to catch any newcomers, or anyone she may have missed, when she spots the music shops.
Bass and Treble were owned by the same people, however Treble seemed to be geared towards more classical music, with pianos and violins and flutes and all manor of orchestra-esque instruments available, while Bass seemed to be committed to rock and roll.Â
Nikki Sixx finds Lola crouched in front of the display of sheet music on sale in Bass.Â
âLola, right?â
Lola stands so fast at his voice that her head spins, but she tries not to let it show. Sheâs on alert when she looks at him, tense, already scowling, which only deepens when she sees who it is.
âNikki Sixx,â his name is not a question when it leaves her lips, but he seems pleased rather than concerned, that his reputation apparently preceded him. He nods, and looks over at what sheâd been examining.Â
âAnything good?â He asked, and Lola looks over her shoulder at the display. Sheâd been seriously considering a book of Elton Johnâs hits for piano before heâd come along.Â
âStill deciding; why?â
âNo reason,â he shrugged, taking his time to look nonchalantly at the various amps nearby, âyou look like youâd be into this sort of thing,â he notes, acting all smug and coy and weird; Lola rolled her eyes, but didnât answer.
âYou were at my gig, weâre you? Hanging out with that guy from the gas station, right? Mick?â Something about his tone had Lola on edge and defensive.
âYou guys were okay,â she says flatly, making it clear as she can that thatâs barely a compliment; Nikki, however, smile widely.
âGlowing review, Iâll add it to our poster,â he smirks, before he finally looks her over, gaze zeroing in on the flyers in her hands, âspeaking of -â and he snatches one, not that sheâs protesting, thatâs another one she doesnât have to get rid of. Nikkiâs reading the flyer and frowning, while Lola lets her attention wander to the various keyboards they have on display.
âWhereâs this?â Nikki pipes up, sounding genuinely interested, while Lolaâs idly playing scales with one hand on the closest, off keyboard.
âA few blocks away,â Lola still hasnât quite gotten the hang of the townâs geography, âacross the road from The Kings Hotel, where I saw you play -â
âThe old MacCready place?â
âItâs Leoâs now,â Lola says, arms crossed, sitting low in her hips as she regards Nikki, and the way heâs going over every little detail of the poster, âCharlotte says youâre a tool.â
âCharlotte just hates that she likes me so much,â Nikki doesnât even miss a beat before answering, and when he looks up to catch Lolaâs reaction, his grin is all teeth. Lola canât help the slight smile she wears as she takes in his response.
âI can see why,â Lolaâs not quite sure what sheâs going for with her own response, but it comes out more teasing than cutting, and thereâs something in Nikkiâs eye, or in his smile, or maybe itâs in his easy laughter, that has her heart beating weird in her chest.
A moment passes between them, a shift in the tone, the energy of the interaction as Lola drops her immediate hostility; sheâs been doing that a lot lately, but she tries not to dwell on it. Itâs now she gets a proper look at him, at his ripped jeans and all black, leather jacket, hair sprayed to high heavens like heâs about to join Poison; he looks unkempt and mean, and Lolaâs kind of really into it.
Theyâre checking each other out, sizing each other up, and they both seem to find something in the other they like, because Nikkiâs grinning at Lola when gaze meets hers again, and sheâs smirking right back.
âTake a picture, itâll last longer,â she tells him, hip cocked for a moment before she saunters past him, knocking into him with her shoulder purposefully. When Nikki stumbles back, he huffs a laugh, and Lola calls over her shoulder, âLeoâs is hiring by the way, Leo himself would probably love a fucker like you.â

bamon but make it halloween
im so terrible itâs literally almost a month after halloween but i had to post this. time is an illusion anyway, right guys? đ okay... ONWARDS.
âAnd you are...?â Caroline Forbes was patiently waiting for Bonnie to exit the bathroom, announcing her end of preparation for Whitmoreâs biggest Halloween bash.
She bored herself with uninteresting conversation to pass the time but her patience was wearing thin, especially since the discussion was excessively snarky and headache-inducing. The absence of Stefan could really remind her just how much of a nuisance his brother could be. For Christâs sake, why did he have to interrupt quality time with her best friend by bringing himself to the equation?
âA vampire, duh.â
Damon Salvatore donned an organic black cotton tee with black jeans, leather boots, signature bourbon whisky in hand, and a pair of cheap plastic fangs that almost lisped his speech.
âThe blonde hair didnât just come with the outfit, I take it.â He remarked, raising a disapproving eyebrow at Carolineâs Malibu Barbie costume.
âGuys, Iâm almost done. Please donât attempt to kill each other.â Bonnieâs incessant shuffling almost drowned out her voice.
âFine.â They chimed in unison.
âHurry, Bonnie. Caroline is doused in pink and thatâs my least favorite color on earth. My eyes are starting to burn.â
âDid he just say doused?â
Caroline faced Damon and grimaced theatrically. âHonestly, youâre such a dick.â
He flashed a smile with those creepy plastic teeth. âNinety-percent of me is, yes.â
âGross. Did my ears just witness that... I-â Rubbing her ears proved to be fruitless; the words had already made their stain.
Bonnie exited the bathroom and click-clacked her way to her two bickering best friends. âBefore this situation gets any more awkward, Iâm ready.â
And ready she was in fishnet stockings, black pointed-toe high heels, a teeny wicker broom and a dress that was tight and very short with thin shoulder straps. Her hair was long, pin-straight and down her back.To top it off, she had smoky eyes, nude glossy lips and a black hat with an exaggerated tip. An eyeful to say the least. There was no doubt that all heads would turn tonight in her favor.
âIâm a witch!â
Caroline squealed in excitement. âNo Bonnie, you are that witch. Ohmygod, turn around! Look at your butt!â
âItâs kinda hard to do that,â
âWell if you could see it, youâd be amazed. You look so hot!â Caroline felt like the proudest best friend in the world, and if the night went as planned, sheâd be the greatest wing woman to walk the face of the earth. Bonnie needed a boy toy, and with the help of her and that dress, Carolineâs mission would be easy peasy.
âYouâre uncharacteristically quiet.â
Caroline almost forgot Damon Salvatore was also an occupant in the room, annoyingly existing beside her. She observed his mannerism and was shocked to hear no snide remarks fall from his lips. In fact, he looked a little too appreciative of Bonnieâs costume with honest blue eyes that wouldnât leave her face or frame.
Carolineâs eyes squinted.
Noted.
âMaybe youâve put a spell on me, Bon Bon.â
- - -
âDid it ever cross your mind that itâs difficult to get Bonnie a guy when youâre death-glaring everyone I find suitable for her? Theyâre starting to think you two are a couple.â
Caroline pulled Damon aside, frustrated with his counterproductive antics. It was the biggest campus party of the year and she was trying to get her best friend laid because that was what best friends did. Bonnie looked too damn good to be just hanging around with her and Damon all night, especially considering the countless amount of eye candy surrounding them.
âWe are. Weâre a couple of best friends, looking to have a great, wholesome, spooky night.â
The music was getting louder as the bass thumped throughout the house. Red cups, mingling bodies, and flashing lights dominated the atmosphere. He had long since ditched the plastic fangs, Caroline presumed, to dig his teeth into some innocent girl later on that night.
âDamon, seriously. Stop attempting to scare these guys away. If anyone deserves a wild and crazy night, itâs Bonnie.â
âShe can be wild and crazy with us. Two vampires and one witch? Weâre the wildest trio to exist.â
âYes but Bonnieâs a grown woman with needs not even we can help with.â
âSpeak for yourself.â He winked.
Carolineâs brow raised in suspicion as she crossed her arms. Her pink jacket creased at the elbows.
âKidding, kidding. Look, one dance with my little Bon Bon and Iâll stop being a bad vampire and allow her to make small talk with brainless douche bags. I promise.â
âMake it quick.â
âAye, aye, Captain.â
Damon strolled over to Bonnie, interrupting her for what would be the last time, to his dismay. She was talking to some dick who had entirely too much cologne on, his vampire senses were agitated.
âI noticed you looked awfully bored, mind if I steal you away? You can just call me Life Saver.â There was a playful look in his eyes as he lightly tugged on her wrist.
The guy frowned at him and opened his mouth to speak but Damon pulled her away to the dance floor before he could respond.
âNo, Iâll just call you Cock Block. He was super cute!â Bonnie hissed, with a cute frown on her face.
âDidnât notice. Hey! I only want some one on one time with my bestie, for old timeâs sake. Halloween parties bring back a certain nostalgia,â he looked off in the distance melodramatically, just above the crowd of tipsy college students.
âOf a time when we hated each otherâs guts and I so desperately wanted to kill you?â
His eyes grew wide. âYou feel it too?â
Bonnie stared at him and concluded that after years of knowing him, nothing could really accustom her to how frustratingly handsome he was. There was such a nonchalance that surrounded his charm, his whole demeanor screamed âI know you want to have sex with me but will you be lucky enough to get the chance,â without him saying one word. It was always there in his gaze; the party was completely out of his element with garish lights, cheap drinks, trite decorations yet somehow his devil-may-care disposition made him belong. It made spectators look. And almost every eye was on them tonight, especially for Damon, so she was truly puzzled as to why he insisted on assuming the role of watch guard. It was unlike him.
âListen, Damon. Youâve been off this entire night... Are you okay?â There was genuine concern for him in her moss green eyes as she wrapped her arms around his neck and they swayed to the music.
Truth was, Damon couldnât explain why it bothered him to such a high extent watching horny men trying to press up against Bonnie. Hell, if the roles were reversed, he would undoubtedly fight to be the first in line to take her home. He understood it, she was gorgeous and sexy and the way her legs looked when she wore heels and fishnets was a sin.
Yet she was also his best friend and maybe it bothered him so much because a random guy didnât know Bonnie like he did, that they never could know her the way he had. Never sat with her, talked her through her tears. Had never been miserably stranded with her, and trapped in a prison world for months. Caroline couldnât even compete with him in the experiences they shared and she was technically her best friend long before he came into the picture. He was all over Bonnie, she even smelled a little like him, was wearing head to toe black more often, had a bit of his cynical humor.
He couldnât picture another male that fit into the equation even for one night. These strangers had never seen her before so how could they possibly think they could honor her the way she should be honored, even if it was for a one night stand.
God, what the hell was he thinking? He was starting to sound like Stefan in his own damn mind.
âDamon?â She lightly scratched at the hair on the nape of his neck, and the small gesture alone awakened far too many electrical impulses inside of him.
Elena, Elena, Elena.
His eyelids fluttered. âHmm?â
The thought of Elena was almost intrusive because all he could really see was Bonnie. Bonnie irritated with him, exasperated, then understanding and pensive. Bonnie speaking.
Her mouth was moving, yes, but he was distracted. She was doing it subconsciously, playing with the hair at the nape of his neck, and it was damn near driving him up the wall in the best way possible. Bonnie made him feel so comfortable always, everything was natural with her. She felt like home.
Elena, Elena, Elena.
But Elena wasnât here and he knew that if he hadnât picked Bonnie over her, his life wouldnât feel like his- it wouldnât belong to him. Plus, they could fix it once they found a cure. Someone would undo that linking spell and his best friend and his girlfriend would both be in his life simultaneously.
For now, Bonnie was home, he couldnât live without her, so yes he would continue to stop any guy trying to get next to her because they didnât deserve her. No one did. She was too sweet and pure, and seeing someone talk to her who wasnât him or someone else she loved made something flare up inside him, something a lot like-
â...Like jealousy.â
âIâm not jealous!â
There was a pregnant pause, the fingertips at his neck slowed.
â...What?â
âWhat?â
âI said that I think Carolineâs a little jealous of our friendship. Itâs like weâve obviously gotten closer because of everything weâve been through and Caroline might resent you just a teensy bit for it.â
âOh yeah, sheâs been so mean to me all night, Bon Bon. She barely allowed me to dance with you.â
âThat probably has more to do with you shooting down every guy that comes my way.â
âI have not,â
âMhmm.â
âNo, Bon, Iâve been shooting down every asshole that comes your way. I believe there is a difference.â
âSo every guy I talk to is an asshole?â
âPrecisely,â he said, with a wiggle of his brows.
âYou must be the king of them.â
He gave a mock wounded expression.
Her pretty face grew serious. âI know itâs been hard. The whole decision thing. Me or Elena. I miss her so much so I canât even imagine how you must feel. Sheâs everything to you.â He could see tears welling up in her eyes. âThank you. In all honesty, I accepted the fact that I would die because of the ultimatum but you really shocked me, Damon.â
Maybe that was it, he was acting strange because he missed a pair of doe brown eyes, olive skin and long legs. He missed a raspy voice always carrying the two syllables in his name like it was too heavy to pronounce. He missed the smell of her on him, a fusion of his natural spicy je ne sais quoi and her fruity shampoo.
Thatâs what was making him act weird. Not the thought of smokey green eyes glazed with flirtation, batting at the expense of a baffling fool. Or brown slender fingers outstretched, casting love spells on men who could never match her energy. And surely not the thought, tucked away in the recesses of his mind, of Bonnie Shelia Bennett, the little witch, opening her arms and legs to someone not worthy enough to lick the bottom of her shoe.
And he didnât know why if he could picture one contender, it would be himself. Like if there was an invisible bar to set the standard, itâd be him. Itâs not as if he thought of Bonnie- like that- because he hadnât, it was just he was the only male in her life that treated her least crappiest next to maybe his brother. But Stefan was Carolineâs. And Damon...well he couldnât imagine Bonnie welcoming someone else inside of her when she felt so much like home to him.
Wait, what?
If those words had tumbled out of his mouth she probably wouldâve slapped him. She wasnât his and he wasnât hers, no matter how close they were, no matter how long they danced, no matter how many times he made her laugh. That was his friend, and he should politely remove himself if he was blocking her from having a good night, regardless of the pain he would feel from her absence.
He should. But.
âDamon.â Bonnie had a stern look on her face and it was then that he realized his fangs were out and his eyes were veined.
âShit,â
âSeriously, what is going on with you? Are you hungry?â
âNo! I was thinking.â
âOf tearing into my flesh?â She placed her hands on her hips and tapped a pointed toe.
âNo? But.. since your mind is so clearly in the gutter,â he did that thing where he paced around Bonnie like a predator stalking its prey. Pinpointing her to the spot to be examined, he was on his second lap of encircling her when he halted behind her, smoothed her long hair to one shoulder and admired the slope of skin from ear to collarbone. He took the initiative to push the envelope by trailing his nose alongside the curve of her neck, light enough to give goosebumps. The magic that was bubbling under the surface of skin was almost enough to make him salivate.
She was unmoved, like there was a predictability Damon possessed that didnât scare her, or even surprise her anymore.
He hated it. He felt neutered, like the monster under the bed who the kid was no longer afraid of because monsters didnât really exist, only dust bunnies.
âI could sink a fang in, to really christen the night.â
âAnd I could send your ass burning to flames, for old timeâs sake.â
âKinky.â
His hands circled around her wrist to hold her still, because if he kept Bonnie in place in reality, she wouldnât be able to run free in his mind. Damon needed control, he needed to remind himself of who he was. And maybe, just maybe, teasing Bonnie would make him feel as if he had leverage over her. Like he had won something even if Bonnie went back to her dorm with someone else.
âNo really, Bon Bon. You taste so good.â He inhaled her scent as he spoke in her ear. âWhy do you think I gave you that nickname?â
Despite his internal conflict, he couldnât fight his bad habits: The longer he spent with her, coiled around her like a snake, the more men would assume she wasnât available tonight, and sure, he was being a toxic friend but he didnât care. Damon reveled in his toxicity because it left him less lonely, less abandoned.
âOh, Damon, donât kid yourself. You know youâre an old man. You canât afford too many rises.â There was a smirk in her voice.
âI can teach you all about rises and more, Bon Bon.â
âWouldnât you just love that?â
He really wanted to push her, see how far she could carry this conversation. And see how much alike they actually were.
âI would love that for you, yes.â He pushed one skinny shoulder strap down and lightly pressed his mouth where it once was. âThen I could really find out if you taste as good as you look.â
Her knee buckled before she sent it back in its rightful position. He noticed her body was so warm, he could hear the blood sloshing around in her veins. The reactions Damon perceived as small victories for him. If there was a scoreboard it would read: Damon 1, Bonnie 0. One hand cupped her neck lightly while the other remained at her wrist, he continued to speak into her ear.
âYou know, I would stop but something tells me youâre enjoying this too much.â He pressed his thigh between hers.
She squirmed and her voice dropped octaves. âWhat makes you think that?â
âItâs not what I think. More so what I smell.â
Her mouth shut with an audible click of teeth.
âI bet you make the prettiest face when you-â
The feeling of his brain splitting in half was so unwelcome that his hands immediately shot up as if he could turn it off. Bonnie seemed to have an immense presence; the perfect picture of witchcraft prowess and sex appeal and if his brain didnât feel like it was broken, he wouldâve been a proud masochist. He was on one knee in an odd proposal of pain, and then it stopped. He pulled himself up and attempted to recover from his aneurysm as if it never occurred.
Damon 1, Bonnie 1.
She straightened out her dress, dusted it off to exude the message that she had no intention of getting down and dirty but she did what she must. He felt like a child and that aneurysm was one hell of a scolding.
Her voice was still a bit deep, but considerably more clear. âHonestly, you should hang out around the dining room, I see some girls that are more your type.â
He followed her gaze to a group of Elena lookalikes.
Damon possessed a sharp, unreadable expression in his gaze. âAnd whatâs that?â
âHmm.. selfish. Insecure.â They held each otherâs gaze in a Western Showdown fashion, with an unspoken challenge sitting in the open space between them. Bonnie gave him the last once over before she strutted off, trapping his eyes with the sway of her hips.
Bonnie 2, Damon 0.
When he looked back up, Caroline was giving him the glare of the century as he slowly backed up to melt away in the oven of meaningless costumed bodies.
It was going to be a long night.

i went...... hard yâall this is so extra and embarrassing but i spent like,, over an hour writing this down so ur all gonna see it u better.
Why did you choose to play the character that you do at Crimson Revolt?
im gonna be honest likeâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠ. i picked dirk bc i wanted to play ezra miller lmao. I KNOW HOW SHALLOW THAT IS DONT LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT OKAY I CAN EXPLAIN!!!!!!!! alright so before i apped for crt the first time i was atâŠâŠ a pretty low place confidence-wise bc iâd just left the first rpg i ever joined (also the first rp thing i ever did) and it was a pretty,,,, messy departure lmaoo i gotta admit i couldâve handled that better orz. BUT ANYWAY so i went looking through the ezra miller fc tag bc iâd just discovered this fabulous person and had vague ideas about a character that could fit the fc (dramatic, cheeky, a lil flamboyant) and was also thinking âi will never fall in love with a character the way i did my previous ones againâ and more dramatic bullshit along those line bc like i said,,, bad time. obviously i didnât find any active rpgs that had him in use so i checked crt bc iâd seen it around before and liked the look of it, so i sent the main an ask like âdo you see ezra miller working for any of your open characters?â the admin at the time pointed me to barty crouch, peter pettigrew and dirk cresswell.
i just want to take a moment to digest that i could literally have played any of these three, cause all i had at the time was a vague idea of a character and a fc to match. i remember i spent days trying to decide between barty and dirk cause neither skeleton fit my vision perfectly and they both seemed aimed more towards an angry jock-type character (especially dirk his fc was miles teller whichâŠ. should give u a good idea of what the admin at the time had in mind for him) ( i mean the first skeleton. the one on the main now is one i rewrote after the main crashed back in june.) (just to clarify: the original skeleton had just as much potential to evolve to a complex and intriguing character as any other skeleton here at crt. i just had my vaguely dramatic ezra miller bby and i wanted it. lmao.) but i liked challenging set characterizations and bringing unique perspectives to contrast against any expectations the admin/s might have about a character. which is why i tend to go for skeleton rps, you get more freedom with those. eventually i decided on dirk bc i liked the sound of aversio and grey moralities appeal to me greatly. i spent a long time delving into the characterâs backstory and personality and all those deep-seated insecurities and compelling contradictions that make dirk up to be the person he is now. by the time i submitted the app i was thoroughly in love with the character and havenât stopped since. heâs my most developed and my most beloved character to play thus far.
Do you have a favorite holiday?
NOPE. as long as im surrounded by people i love and a lot of snacks im good.
Do you prefer coffee or tea? Perhaps neither, or both?
coffee. coffee coffee coffee.
What is your personality type?
INFP-T. the mediator. 86% introverted lmaooo.
What is your Hogwarts House?
ahhh. when i first read the books a few years ago i was like âiM A SLYTHERIN DONT TOUCH ME!!!!!â but iâŠâŠâŠâŠliterally have the subtlety of a bulldozing stampede of rhinos im sure yâall noticed. i took the pottermore test and had the glaring red n gold show up on my face and i shut the laptop down so fast like liES I BELIEVE NONE OF THIS. then i took a fan-made test that put me in ravenclaw and i was likeâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠ.. ok i accept this compromise i can work with that. lmao im such a gryffindor tho donât look at me im just *flops* pottermore was rightâŠ.. i accept my place now i have stopped running from the truth orz.
What is your Zodiac Sign?
Taurus.
Three most recently watched on Netflix?
SURPRISE! i donât have netflix. most recent stuff i watched tho are Stranger Things 2, IT (2017) andâŠ. i canât remember orz. but im obsessed with stranger things taLK TO ME ABOUT STEVE HARRINGTON PLS I LOVE HIM SO MUCH *SOBS*
Describe your ride-or-die friend.
donât call me out like thisâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠ. i donât make friends in real life people are difficult and i am awkward orz.
If you could have any superpower, what would you choose?
the ability to focus whenever i want at whatever i want for however long i want and actually manage to be productive with my time. what do u mean this is not a superpower i need it to be one.
Are you an early bird or a night owl?
i have no sleep schedule to speak of. sometimes i sleep at five am and wake up at eight am to get to my classes, then have a six hour nap when i get home and stay up until four am again. sometimes i go to bed on eight pm and wake up at four in the morning and still sleep through my classes, take a small four hour nap when im home and spend obligatory time with the fam for a couple hours lmao. itâs like im just sleeping or waking up either way im always a step removed from a zombie. there is. no reason for any of this i just do it.
What is your favorite color?
YELLOW. itâs so bright and sunny and iouwodc. i love it.
What is the last book you read? What is your favorite?
ahhhh i canât remember my memory is failing me. which is sad cause i used to pick up a new novel every other day but i just canât be bothered anymore ugh. i think my favorite was the whole PJO & HoO seriesâ â i havenât read the last book yet tho, so iâll start rereading all ten books when i get the chance.
Where would you rather be right now?
on a bed. sleeping. alone. with a lot of blankets. solitude appeals to me on such a deep level guys u donât even know.
Have you ever watched the sunrise?
the ones i remember are three â once when i was a kid with my mom, bc i wouldnât go to sleep and it was approaching sunrise and i rambled about wanting to see the sun come up so my mom was likeâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠ â*throws hands up* ok u lil monster u winâ and took me to the roof to watch the sunrise lol. it was glorious. and cold. bc winter. the second time was with my cousins who were sleeping over (for the first time in a loooong tiiiimmmeeee) and we decided to spend the night up on the roof bc why not. the last time was with my brother i think he was up there fixing something or the other and i was just thereâŠ.. to be annoying lmao.
Do you listen to music when you write? If yes, what kind of music?
oh no i canât. i need everything and everyone to be quiet or i canât write a thing.
Whatâs the one thing you especially love about roleplaying your muse/s?
what do i love about playing dirkâŠâŠ his impulsive and his bright attitude and his endless optimism. he has such an uplifting presence and a cheeky sort of charm that makes it impossible for people not to love him, that makes his worming into other peopleâs hearts so entirely predictable and entertaining to play out. he is a myriad of contradictions â the difference between what he thinks everyone deserves and what he thinks he deserves is appalling, and with time it becomes clear that when he says things like âeveryone needs someone to lean onâ or âeveryone could use some supportâ he is not referring to himself as a part of this âeveryoneâ, if even on a subconscious level, does not find himself worthy of such kindness. he is a character so full of love he is spilling and overflowing with it, his raw emotions and his turbulent nature one of the dearest parts of him to me. the thin line he walks between being kind and violent, loyal and unforgiving, genuine and secretive. all the little details that make him up are reason for me to love him as dearly as i do.
Whatâs your favorite type of weather?
cold, but not too cold, yâknow? just enough to wear a jacket but not so much you spend the night under five covers and a thermometer lmaoo.
Whatâs your best RP experience?
crt. no contest. and im not just saying that cause iâve been in a bunch of rpgs by now and they all either a) lack dedicated admins/members b) are cliquey and non-inclusive at all or b) fall into inactivity a meager month or two after opening. crt is one of a kind.
Who inspires you?
this is actually a tough question cause i never really stop to think about it?? i draw inspiration from everything around me and itâs kinda likeâŠ. im constantly absorbing stuff from the environment im in and itâs like iâm always half-thinking about writing at any given moment, if that makes sense?? dunno.
Spread some love: mention someone youâve met that has influenced you or your writing in a positive way and explain how!
ahhh okay so. before i tried roleplaying i stumbled upon this rpg in the fandom tag over a year ago and itâs basically been the catalyst for my time in the rpc. i was looking through the characterâs blogs and found someone playing peter and i was likeâŠâŠâŠ.. not fond of peter at the time tbh but this personâs writing was so fucking incredible i checked their blog daily, just to see how this thread or that thread would go. their take on a character iâd only held distaste for before was so compelling and complex i was drawn in all the way, iâd even come to love the character so much and was constantly disarmed by the smallest to the biggest details in that personâs characterization â at least the details i could pick up on, some iâm sure went way over my head at the time. some details i still remember vividly and theyâve helped me shape my first character and have influenced my writing thereafter. i learned a lot about the duality of a characterâs mind and how to express inner conflict by observing that personâs writing. (yes i sent them a nerdy af message gushing about all that bc they hadda know manâŠ. they hadda know.)

thereâs a lot of things about me that are fucking absurd and really cool, so when ppl ask me to tell them about myself, i break em out immediately (âmy family heirloom is a severed head named oswald,â âI can see disney studios from my house,â etc)Â
but just bc im bored and I feel like it, hereâs some stuff about me that I dont think Iâve ever really talked about? not secrets, but just...mundane things that I donât really ever say in favor of Ice Breakerâą-type thingsÂ
I have a profound respect for mail services. When I was 7-8 years old, we watched a documentary in class about how the postal system works, its history, and about the various jobs involved. It was an extremely formative experience for me. I donât send a lot of things over snailmail and so Iâm not really sure how to express my respect and support but itâs definitely there. Unfortunately, Iâve yet to play the FallOut game where youâre a mail carrier, but I wanna... I wanna.Â
Though Iâll claim to the ends of the earth that sports confuse me, I am a huge speed-running enthusiast. One hobby/interest/self-esteem exercise I have is that I really like to learn jargon/lingo involved with...anything, really. So I started watching speedruns to pick up the lingo and I just...became infatuated. Iâm no expert but Iâm %100 into it for more than the lingo at this point; Iâve long since got that covered. One of my favorite parts is golf-clapping along with other fans when something cool/impressive happens.Â
I canât sleep without a hat on. A beanie, specifically. When I was, like...5 or something, I was terrified of vampires, and for some reason I thought vampires bit the skull and not the neck. So I pulled my blankets up over my head at night. My parents thought this was dangerous (I might suffocate) so they gave me a hat to protect myself with. Iâve long since outgrown my fear of vampires (and learnt that they donât typically bite skulls) but Iâve associated hats with nighttime safety for so long that I canât fall asleep without one. In the event that I donât have one, I can wear underwear on my head to suffice...and I think I wore a stuffed animal once somehow but idk.Â
Iâve had my SPiN in genetics for so long that 5-year-old me used to infodump strangers at the grocery store. When I asked where babies come from, my dad got me a picture book written for kids specifically to answer that question. We still have it; my brothers used it, too. It starts by explaining pollination and then extends the same concepts to dogs and then humans. Most of the information is on pregnancy and fetuses rather than sex, and cell development immediately caught my fascination. I asked my parents for more information about this and they gave me some more microbiology stuff. Combine that with my animal obsession + budding interest in heredity and youâve got a tiny obnoxious geneticist who wouldnât stop telling random people in line at the grocery store about how chromosomes are passed on through haploid cells. Dad got real smug about it, it was fantastic.Â
On a similar note (and I have no memory of how this actually happened), I more or less learnt to read spontaneously? All at once? Again, I have no clear memory of this until the part where I can read... My parents read to me every night but I never was able to do it myself. I had a huge library built into the wall at perfect me-height for reading. One morning, the summer I turned 5, I (according to legend) walked up to my parents, got their attention, said âIâm going to read now,â and then (this part I do remember) sat down and read every single book in that library over the course of two or three days. Super rough estimate, but it was somewhere between 70-200 books, with a variety of target ages ranging from 3 to 10-11. No chapter books, all pictures, but the second I was finished I wanted more books. My mom took me to the store to buy more and insisted I get a chapter book since Iâd burnt through the picture books so fast. And thatâs where I got my first Warriors book.Â
That was not the last time I read an entire library. In 7th grade, a friend of mine and I both had sex ed previously and so were allowed to skip that yearâs sex ed on the condition that we spent that class in the school library. And together, we read the entire thing. Only what was on the shelves, though; nothing in the back. Actually, at one point on the last day, weâd already read every book in the place and we were bored, so we pulled some books out of the back to look at and none of them caught our interest. One of them was the first Hunger Games book WAY before it got popular. Weâd never heard of it, both read the first 2 pages, didnât like it at all, and put it back. You shouldâve seen our faces when it suddenly blew up into a huge thing. The sad thing is, I remember a lot of books that I enjoyed but canât find now because I canât remember any specific titles or characters. We sped through everything to finish it all and didnât really take a lot of time to absorb details so a lot of them are lost to the vague, hazy back of my memory. Still looking for that manga where the ninja kid...stops an evil scientist from...some kind of virtual world machine. Thereâs a piranha tank? And then the bad guy...gets sniped by a helicopter and falls off the roof, or something? Also there was a manga version of Maximum Ride, which I only remember by name because 2 chapters in it suddenly hit me that this was a comic version of a text-novel my mom was reading at the same time. I bought a handful of books from that library at the end of the year and still have them.Â
Iâve only been in one play but something fucking sweet happened during production. I was Malvolio in Twelfth Night because, and I quote my drama teacher (who had known me for 8-ish years at that point and also who was smirking her ass off when she said this), âYouâll see why when you read the play.â She was not wrong and to this day that smug fuckin grin gives me life. Anyway, I was Malvolio, and you know that âSome have greatness thrust upon themâ speech that everyoneâs so inspired by? That speech is a fucking prank pulled on this asshole and itâs about banginâ. So the scene is that I dramatically read this âââlove letterâââ Iâve received and then run off to go embarrass myself. The speech is LONG and so I asked if I can just...actually have it written on the letter. And she said yes! So I wrote it down with intent of reading it off the letter. But opening night, the actress who was to place the letter grabbed the wrong paper and so I got just a blank sheet. Guess fucking what? Weâd re-choreographed that scene so many times the night before that I slammed that shit anyway, word-for-fucking-word. And I was never mad at my friend for grabbing the wrong paper, so I say this in jest, but her punishment for grabbing the wrong paper is that the entire cast/production team did not hear the end of my pride for the entire week. For a timeframe reference, I was 12.Â
When I was a kid I had a horse named Emmy. She was a rental horse. Actually, I think she was a pony? The way the rental worked was that she lived in a barn with a bunch of other horses. Her owners were a small business who gave riding lessons, but instead of just riding each session, one of the horses was âyoursâ (assigned by age, height, and temperament, not picked by the kid) to take care of while you were there and ride consistently every session. Essentially, she was only my pet when I was on the property. I can still ride but Iâve gotten rusty and I canât do anything above a trot for more than a few seconds. Both times Iâve jumped have been accidents, once on Emmy and once on momâs current horse, Meteor. Iâve fallen only once, and it was off Emmy. Momâs going to be getting a gigantic thoroughbred soon and Iâm both terrified and excited to ride this very large boy.Â
I talk about this in person but not online because...why would it ever come up online?? I have worn the same style of red jacket every single time I leave the house since I was a pre-teen. Itâs to the point where people will only recognize me if Iâm wearing it. I had a friend in high school who was/is a really cool guy, we were seniors and weâd been close friends since freshman year. I had my jacket tied around my waist because of the heat. The school had two campuses a block apart and I was walking from one to the other to get something. Friend was walking from the other to the one, so we passed each other. Wordlessly. No wave, nothing. I was tired, it was hot, I didnât really think anything of it. Then suddenly, a foot behind me, he freezes dead in his tracks and says my name with some kind of stricken shock. He had no idea it was me. At all. Keep in mind: my jacket? Tied around my waist. Not even off, just around my waist. Since then Iâve used this jacket thing to my advantage. Sparingly, I can take it off to sneak around. Itâs like Iâm invisible to people I know unless I say something and they hear my voice. Itâs incredible.Â
Going back to speed running, way before I knew that it was a thing at all, I taught myself to speedrun two games: The Lion King (PS2, not the impossibly hard one) and Putt Putt Saves The Zoo. As they were unofficial speedruns that I didnât really call anything and just kinda did when I was bored, I never timed the latter, and I only timed the former once using my momâs kitchen timer. It was a rough estimate since sometimes I paused and forgot to hit play for a few seconds, or I needed to pause but didnât for a few seconds, and the timer only counted full minutes anyway, but I still remember the time: 35 minutes. I keep meaning to go back and re-teach myself to speedrun it, perhaps more professionally, and time it with more accuracy. I still remember all the strats but I canât pull them off with as much fluidity as I could when I was still in practice. I also can, when watching both Lion King 1 and 2, still point out with frame-perfect accuracy exactly when a scene starts that was a cutscene in that game.Â
wow writing this was fun and I kinda wanna do it again. okÂ

(Australia) What is the normal procedure for a car accident without insurance?
I hit a car(Honda) 1 month ago, I was at fault. I don't have third party damage insurance on my car. For the other car, they have comprehensive. Recently, Honda's insurance company contacted me and told me to pay for the damages(the quote is $10,000). They haven't sent me the invoice yet. At the same time, Smash repair also contacted me regarding the damages(same quote, but can be cheaper if i pay cash to them immediately). Car owner also contact me saying that I have to pay Smash repair directly. My question is: If Honda's insurance company is invloved in this incident, should I deal with the insurance company direclty and ignore both of the car owner and smash repair? I will pay for the damages, just want to make sure it goes to the right person, and no more trouble(no double claim) in the future.""

What are my health insurance options as a student?
I'm 22 years old and a full-time student at a California State university. Last month and without warning, my dad cut me off of his company's insurance and is refusing to put me back on because he claims we have no relationship and he essentially wanted to be spiteful as he has done since my parents divorced. My question is this: Can he even legally do this? As a full-time student, isn't it my right to be covered by his insurance? I can't get any insurance through my mother as she is unemployed. Because I'm pulling 19 units at school, I can't take on a full-time job to get health insurance. So what are my options? Is there a way to force my dad to put me back under his plan? If not, what should I do? I'm confused and scared because just over a month ago, I had to go to the ER because I broke my nose. Two days later was when my dad cut my insurance. Can I have two Health Insurance Policies from different states?
Before you answer, please read this thoroughly. I am a student and Illinois Resident. I have PPO health insurance in Illinois that I pay out of pocket for. $1000 deductible, 100% covered. I go to school in Florida and have employer insurance in FL (ever since Sept 2008), but it's an HMO. The PPO my job offers has no deductible but is 80/20 coverage, so I opted the HMO. For the average person, it would make no sense to have 2 policies, but I'm not ordinary. I have many pre-existing conditions (some I was born with), hence the Illinois coverage. In Dec of last year, before my FL insurance kicked in, I had a multitude of issues which caused me to have to use my BCBS of IL in Florida where I'm attending school. Many of those things are at bay now, but for doctor visits, exams, etc to arise other than routine check ups, should I start using my FL HMO insurance and just use my IL insurance for when I visit home during breaks? Or should I just drop my FL insurance altogether? The reason this is an issue is b/c I am afraid I my rates will go up or they drop me if I continue to use my insurance which was meant to be for IL, but I have been using it in another state. Yes they will cover b/c it's PPO and it falls under the BCBS umbrella, but this is the risk I take. I will NOT drop my Illinois insurance because I have pre-existing issues that is NOT covered by my FL insurance, so switching isn't even on option. Plus they keep doing layoffs and my certainty at this job isn't guaranteed. Furthermore, I keep reading about fraud, this is not my intent. I am just trying not to have my rates rise anymore b/c I am a student and not making much as it is. I am looking for the best coverage because good health care is my primary concern. I am NOT trying to file a double claim with both insurances, and I am NOT trying to collect any money out of this. Things happen like the flu, ER visits, and any other reason to visit the doctor when you are sick or injured. I have a 2 week window during open enrollment to drop my coverage thru my job. I pay only $20 per paycheck for my FL HMO insurance. So the little amount really isn't that much to fret over, but I need to know b/c I don't want my IL insurance to go up or to be denied covereage b/c I have two policies out there. Someone please give me some guidance. :) I have called my insurance company on both ends, but I can't get a straight answer from either. It's always the you need to contact the other company for the answer . So I am running around in circles. I was even told to just find out after I use my FL insurance to see. I'm afraid to take the gamble.""

How to obtain depreciation from insurance company?
I had a roof claim at the end of the year for $45K. Ultimately the roof failed and damaged the interior of the home as well. The insurance company sent an initial check for $38K, and there is $7K in depreciation as a hold back. Once the work was completed I sent the insurance company a final invoice from the contractor for $44K. The invoice listed all of the work done and a grand total. The adjust is asking for line item detail around the charges. My contractor is telling me this is a ridiculous request and won't provide. So now I am sitting here with an adjuster who won't budge on their stance and a contractor who won't help. Are there any hard and fast rules on how to obtain the depreciation funds. In the couple of claims prior to this over the years, all I had to turn in was a generic invoice. I am at a loss and need to get those funds to close this deal out. I have full replacement value.""

I have a $100 detuctible and that is way cheaper than the $1200 but do not know what to tell them when i file the claim.. I am with Mercury and live in California

Does car insurance cover only one car per policy?
Like, if I had many cars, would the policy cover all those cars for one fee or would I have to get insurance for each car? I feel like each policy only covers one car but I'm not for sure which is why I'm here. And if there is such a car insurance that covers x amount of cars for one fee, let me know. Thanks for taking the time to answer this.""

Getting new car insurance quotes and don't know if it is my claim or not.?
I was in an accident about 4 years ago. I rear-ended someone and wrote the van off, however my parents didn't use insurance to get a new car and the SUV I hit had no damage. I did report it and their insurance is aware of it. I also was not charged with anything although the police did show up because it was on a busy street. It was a 4 car pile up I happened to be at the back of. My question is that the accident was under my parents insurance and I am now looking for car insurance quotes and am unsure if this claim is considered mine or my parents. Any help would be appreciated""

""Car insurance, applies to other car?""
Alright so, I plan on driving to a camping trip up in WI and I live in IL. The thing is, I don't know if I'm insured on the car I want to use. I usually drive an SUV (which my parents said they put my name under to use) so I'm insured on that one. But I want to take the other car because of gas mileage. I don't know how the insurance works. Am I covered on the other car too? P.S. My parents have State Farm as our insurance.""
Suggestions on how to lower my car insurance?
I drive a 1.8 TurboDiesel Ford Escort from 1995, worth about 500-750. I'm looking to renew my car insurance and the best quote I can get from price comparison sites and Direct Line is over 650! This is at the age now of 27 having driven for 3 years without tickets, accidents or claims. On my 1st year I paid under 400 for insurance. I know insurance is going up but this is excessive - anyone have suggestions on ways to knock this down other than ringing them all up, or other insurers not on the comparison sites?""

Why is it that you pay all this money for car insurance?
Why is it that you pay all this money for car insurance and after an accident you still need to pay a deductible? Think about this; if you payed $200 a month for 5 yrs without an accident; that's $12,000; you would still need to pay a deductible to get your car fix and your premiums will go up. That's enough money to buy a new compact car. Just curious to see if anyone has the answer.""

I'm going to look at a used car today. When should I buy Insurance?
I've seen pictures and know a lot about it's history. They have asssured me they have reciepts for all the work done to it. I'm pretty certain i'll be buying the car as I am taking money. Do i ring my insurance to get an idea of price and then ask them to start the insurance immediately when I buy the car? Or do they have a delay to when i'll actually be insured/ to when the police can tell if a car is insured or not? So should i change my insurance now or later? Thanks
