Thoughts on the IGN DA:TV 22 min gameplay - Crossroads portion

this post is under a cut due to what some peeps may consider spoilers, and length.

I began writing this post today before the progression video released, I wanna clear out the draft. don't look at me HH.

Coming into the Crossroads, again I'm curious to know if elf lineage Rooks will perceive it differently than the other Rooks, as in DA:I.

Left: The Lighthouse eluvian leads out to Solas' pocket area of the Crossroads. The area around the eluvian is called Beacon Island. It makes sense; lighthouses in the mundane world are often on islands, and they are beacons. in the Fade, the island floats in the 'air', and the Fade is often referred to with watery language & symbolism. Center: I've decided that I think these golden posts are the 'change party' points. You see them at multiple points throughout the video. The icon has three helmets (and parties are Rook+2). I feel like if we click on this it will take you to the party selection screen. Also, the gold-and-cyan coloring of the post reminds me of the color scheme of the lyrium dagger. We know that Rook can use the dagger to channel companions' special abilities in their absence. it makes sense that the [essentially] 'summon party member themselves button' is themed in the same way. Right x2: These blue lamps are all over Beacon Island. I wondered if they were also part of what gave Beacon Island its name (lamp - light - beacon), but then I remembered that we have also seen these elsewhere, like in this screenshot. what if that scene and the final battle (or whenever this key event takes place) isn't actually set in the Black City like we thought? what if that's the ruins of Beacon Island and the Lighthouse, under attack from the gods and their darkspawn army? if they can assault the Crossroads, why not the Lighthouse? Corypheus attacks your base at two key points in DA:I. what trips me up a bit is in the background of the dragon shot are the Evanuris head-shape statues like a Fade reflection of the Arlathan Forest ritual site, not this island. but the Fade is a changeable realm and the 'landscape' of Skyhold also changes when Corypheus attacks due to his influence. they could just like, appear.

The ancient elven tree asset from DA:I. It has an icon on the mini-map, so it's either a landmark or has some sort of interactable function. Among the branches it glows with magical energy, as a device it's active. What's it for? A power source? A defense thing? I could see an argument for it basically being a magical defense turret. At the base are two frozen figures, reminding of Solas' Trespasser power to petrify people. I feel like on one of them at least I can see a pointed elven ear. Were these people attacking the base (and are left there as a warning), or were they fleeing? Did the device freeze them? Or a person?

Center bottom: This is a tile thing on the ground that Rook walks over on Beacon Island. I turned it upside down here because I think if you flip it and squint it kind of looks like the shape of a wolf's head. Right: There are multiple points from which to take the Caretaker's transport boat. I'm so curious about how big and extensive the Crossroads are.

At this point Rook has some very interesting dialogue concerning the lyrium dagger.

Rook: "Wait. The lyrium dagger's... vibrating. Like a song in a wine glass. Are those voices?"

Why is it vibrating, what does it sense? this trope (not using the term in a negative way) is usually like 'it senses something bad coming' or 'it's near something that calls to it'. The song part reminded me of the red lyrium idol, as described in Tevinter Nights. some people who go near it in one of the short stories hear music in the wind, like a old song they used to know as kids. the song later stops when they stash the idol in a special chest. blue lyrium itself is said to sing, or be described in that kind of imagery. for example, dwarven miners who find it in rock by ear claim they can hear the Stone singing, and Justice says that lyrium doesn't sing in the Fade. In Asunder Rhys hears a song when someone gets a lyrium potion. etc

"Wine glass" also interested me :) Wine is a liquid and the Fade is frequently described in watery imagery. and back to the red lyrium idol for a second, the narrator in TN tells us "When I hefted it in my hand, it was like it wanted to keep moving, like it was liquid inside." Same with the voices. When Bartrand had possession of the idol, he began hearing voices. when the camera pans over the idol in the 2018 DA4 teaser trailer, there is audio that arguably sounds like ominous whispering. I'm not sure if I think the blue lyrium knife has anything to do with the red lyrium idol or if it's simply a case of lyrium things in general have singing, voices etc, but it's what came to mind. If there are two daggers, one red and one blue, like we saw in the DA:TV bonus card pack.. well, a ritual-blade sprang from the base of the red lyrium idol in TN. what if the blue lyrium dagger is from the base of a blue lyrium idol, or if it's the one from the red lyrium idol only Solas was somehow able to cleanse it?

There are some familiar assets and repeating assets in this area, some of differing sizes, like griffon statues, Warden statues etc. this makes sense as the Crossroads reflects the waking world. :)

The Caretaker from the side with their glowing blue oar. their 'body' is like the redesigned spirits/demons as being of emotion, with veins like this giving the impression of a nervous system.

Our hero is confronted by a Pride demon, imposing and armored as in previous games, yet accented by exposed, bright lines that seem to burst from its ribcage. “They are a creature of raw negative emotion,” Busche says. “So we wanted to actually incorporate that into their visual design with this glowing nervous system.” -- Edge magazine article on DA:TV -- “demons in general got a bit of a revamp to more closely align their look you. see it with shades and the pride demon as well. they’re creatures of emotion so they have a spectral nervous system look” [source].

The Caretaker piloting the boat like this is giving Charon the ferryman from Greek mythology.

In the post on the Lighthouse area, I wrote about the top center image here,

this symbol was on the minimap, in front of the Fen'Harel statue. I think it’s this one (left), which we saw in the high-level warrior combat gameplay video. it’s some sort of collectable in the sort of way that gold/coin is. I guess this is where we go to use or spend this thing perhaps, whatever they are? maybe it’s for Lighthouse upgrades? maybe it’s what we spend at or trade to the mysterious “enchanter” who helps us with crafting at the Lighthouse?

When I saw the Caretaker's helmet-shape from the front when Rook took ship, I realized that it reminded me of the symbol on the minimap in the Courtyard and the symbol for that collectable/resource.

When the dev commentary then called the Caretaker a "mysterious spirit" I thought this might be the mysterious "enchanter who helps us with crafting at the Lighthouse", and wondered if the Courtyard helmet symbol on the map near the blue fire in front of the Fen'Harel statue would be where we could summon 'shop version' of them to do that. (remember this post was in the middle of being written out today when a new video dropped hh). we learned today that they have their Workshop there and you spend Mementos (represented by the helmet shape near gold coins) at it. :)

The prow of the ship looks like a carved mabari head and the ship reminds me of a DA:I asset.

When the boat 'lands', this new area of the Crossroads is called the Heights of Athim. This caught my eye because isn't there a mysterious elf introduced in The Wigmaker Job called Athima? Lucanis takes Illario on a shortcut on their way to work. They go through an archway to a courtyard where a statue of a vhenadahl stands. Lucanis touches a groove that opens a secret passage in the statue. They go in and down a winding set of stairs. Torches of green Veilfire are nailed to the walls. At the bottom an elf in a scarlet coat called Athima guards a big door. They tell her they want to go up, she claps her hands together, the Veilfire goes out, the room spins. The Veilfire comes back on and when she opens the door it takes them to a different spiral staircase. Illario asks Lucanis wtf that was and he tells him it was a perk given by their mysterious benefactor. What was this? :D idk, doesn't it sound a bit pocket dimension, Crossroady? Veilfire? And here are "Heights of Athim".

When Harding says "Neve! She always gets the job done", it reminded me of the previous info that Harding and Neve have wholesome interactions, and the descriptors of Neve as capable, competent etc. it's nice to see them supporting one another :)

In this video we have our first proper look at mage gameplay. :D

This moment was so randomly cute because it looks like Rook has protectively put their arm around Harding's shoulders while telling off the darkspawn like DON'T TALK TO ME OR MY SON EVER AGAIN hhh.

At this point there's a gold chest off to one side. I liked hearing examples of combat barks, comments and banter. Neve explains a bit about how templars work in Tevinter to southern Harding. Their banter here is as follows:

Harding: Do templars really not have authority over mages in Tevinter? What happens if there’s blood magic? What do they do? Neve: Depends on the templar. Depends on who’s bought their loyalty Harding: What do you do when the authorities can’t be trusted to do the right thing? Neve: That’s how I keep busy.

This reminded me soo much of a promotional video for DA4 once upon a time where the devs said that "We want to tell a story of what happens when you don't have power; when the people in charge aren't willing to address the issues" ! Here Neve is saying, when that happens, that's where people like us can and should step in. :)

Rook then goes to a new area called "Mountainside Eluvians". the name of the area implies to me that there are other batches of eluvians grouped together in different locations elsewhere in the Crossroads which would have different names, not simply these 4.

The map here tells us that in the Mountainside alone, there are four different eluvians. The one lit up with the blue quest marker goes to Hossberg Wetlands. Dev commentary here says,

“You’ll see as we move towards these eluvians the architecture very clearly reflects what’s on the other side.”

The one on the right is flanked by griffon statues. The eluvian is shattered! This video was set after the storybeat of the siege of Weisshaupt. Maybe this was the eluvian that went to Weisshaupt fortress? now that Weisshaupt has fallen, we cannot go back there, and the fate of the place is reflected in the broken mirror. :( in fact, this eluvian no longer even has a quest marker for it. it's unusable. (see yellow dot annotated on minimap where I think its marker used to be).

This one next to it is also flanked with griffons and has these giant rings on sticks. maybe this one leads to this location from the release date reveal trailer (which seems Anderfelsy to me)?

For the eluvian to the left of the Hossberg Wetlands one, like I said here, based on the dwarf statue and the way Kal-Sharok was highlighted on that new map, I wonder if that one goes to Kal-Sharok. (pls pls :D) Lastly, for the one to the left of that, it's hard to tell as the camera doesn't really pan round to it.

General thoughts/speculation on commentary & such:

The Crossroads is such a fun method of 'explaining' fast-traveling.

To think that we would get to explore Solas’ former base of operations and training grounds during the ancient days of the rebellion, view fragments of the past to get insight into his character, ancient Elvhenan and the gods and their motivations.. to actually get to re-live his memories, to take part in the ancient rebellion.. [Flemeth voice] and she came to me. A wisp of an ancient being. And she granted all I ever wanted and more.

It's like a dream come true!! It's peoples' decade-old headcanons, it's our fanfic dreams. I can't wait to see Elvhenan as it was. I hope we get insight into and see Elgar and Ghil before they became Blighted. I hope we get to see some of the other Evanuris too, and Mythal in her fullness before she was murdered. Mythal and Solas interacting. Young Solas, when he was prideful, hot-headed and foolish. his friend Felassan, who is also an ancient elf (it's the perfect opportunity, it makes so much sense). the moment when Solas created the Veil. the betrayal he suffered that he alludes to. Solas removing vallaslin of people who came to his side to join him. Solas with hair, like Matt Rhodes implied during the first dev Q&A? Solas creating a safe haven for freed elves and spirits. maybe even the Forgotten Ones?? and find out how they fit into it all? maybe they were Solas' "party members" in the time of his rebellion? things that we have only seen in mosaics and murals or read about in notes or heard about indirectly in oblique dialogue lines.. ON OUR SCREENS IN A GAME, TO PLAY. OUUGUGHHH. thank you devs

I'm also really curious about the Caretaker. "mysterious" implies that we can learn more about what/who they are. them being there before Solas was tells you how extremely ancient they are. rebuilding the area into a safe haven for spirits sounds so cool too. :)

The Risen Gods having an army of augmented darkspawn.. we in danger. :)

I wanna find every single deep Crossroads secret. :D

Big Enough Bedroll For The Two Of Us

Thorin x Reader

Warnings: Rain, Not The Greatest Writing, Hypothermia (Mentioned x2), Nudity, Sharing A Bed Trope But A Bit Different, Fluff

It’s raining, water pours down on all fifteen of you cold to the bones, thirteen dwarves and a hobbit try to catch up to you “Stop walking so damn fast with your long legs” Fili cusses nearly slipping on the mud “I have a reason to walk fast! I am more susceptible to hypothermia than all of you don’t you remember!” You shout back turning around and huddling your blue cloak around you trying to stay warm. Fili and Kili grumble in frustration as the other dwarves start catching up with you, Thorin quickly finding his place next to you, his hair sticking to his face. His blue eyes calculate the scenery “What’s the layout?” You hum shivering letting out a shaky breath as water starts dripping down your neck into your shirt, your armor doing nothing to stop it. “I think I see a cave over there, we can set camp until the rain clears” He sighs, Thorin shouts the order to the others, and a series of “at last” and “finally” can be heard from Kili, Fili, and Bilbo. You all hurry over to the place Thorin says he sighted the cave.

You see it and sigh in happiness. It is a cave, and it’s dry, you begin unpacking and check if your bedroll made it out dry, to your luck it did. You place it on the ground keeping your boots off of it, you strip your cloak off and undo all of your armor throwing it in a pile, and you dig in your pack to grab some dry clothing. You hum in frustration at the open wide cave giving you no privacy to change, you feel a presence behind you and a big blanket suddenly be thrown in front of you. “I’ll hold it up, get changed” Your eyes widen surprised that it is Thorin of all people saying that. “Thank you, Thorin” You hush slipping off your boots and socks and putting them next to your cloak. Thorin picks up the blanket holding it in front of you as you change out of your wet clothes and into your dry ones “I’m done” Thorin drops the blanket down at that “You are still in your wet clothes, you should have changed” You scold noticing his tunic sticking to his torso in what seems to be an uncomforting way “I also change in privacy (Name)” He says quickly looking down at you “Oh, well would you like me to return the favor?” You stand offering to hold the blanket, Thoring stays quiet for a moment thinking of a response “I would yes” He sighs handing the blanket to you. He leads you to his pack, his dry clothes on the ground, you notice his bedroll didn’t make it out dry due to the harsh rain “Thorin, Where are you to sleep?” you sigh as you turn around holding the blanket up giving him privacy, he does not give you an answer. You shake your head, at least this blanket is dry “Are you planning to sleep only with this blanket?” You ask, seething when more cold beads of water drip down your shirt from your head. “I was, why?” He grumbles “Because I will not allow it!” You fuss your eyebrows creasing in worry. He chuckles, only you can hear it “And where am I to sleep?” He presses. You listen to him clasping a cloak around his shoulders “I have enough room in my bedroll. It will benefit me as well, I will have a lower chance of getting sick if I have another person to keep me warm, due to my body temperature being significantly lower I am more susceptible to catching an illness that can end up in death or amputation” You point out to him. You hear him sigh and the both of you fall into silence, you feel anxiety rise “Did I overstep?” you think biting your lip at the silence.

 “I am dressed,” He says after a while of silence. You fold the blanket and turn around looking at him handing it back, you turn and go back to your bedroll, unrolling the wool-lined fabric and slipping into it, you pull it around yourself, still shivering. Kili and Fili gather as much dry wood as they can from outside pilling it up for a fire, You watch Bofur tear a few pages from his notebook as kindling, they finally get a fire going, Balin and Dwalin start cooking up some dinner for all of you. 

You sip down the hot soup quickly feeling the warmth flow through your system. You were huddling between Fili and Balin trying to find more warmth “I hate how the cold wind blows right through me” You grumble in protest of the weather, some of the dwarves chuckle at your statement. Bilbo agrees with you happily making you cheer up slightly at not being completely alone in this horrid freezing state. You look across from you and see Thorin staring at you, his hair beginning to frizz up as it dries. You nod toward him in acknowledgment before finding interest in your stew sipping it up hungrily. Supper comes to an end and the dwarves all start going to bed, you move back to your original place, pulling on another tunic and an extra pair of socks to stay warm. You hear someone approaching you, Thorin you realize, he stares down at you “May I still take you up on that offer?” He asks, you nod and hold up one side of your bedroll for him to slide into. He willingly slots himself next to you throwing the blanket from earlier over you both. You shift to lay on your side so he has more room, he thanks you quietly and lays down next to you, turns on his side facing you, and shuffles closer to you. To your surprise he offers his arm as a pillow for you “Rest your head, it will warm you up” This Is all you get from him. You nod and lay on his arm, your cheeks heat as he pulls you flush to his chest tucking your head in his neck, the moment becoming intimate quickly, Thorin's soft breathing calms you, his body heat quickly warming you up. Your eyes flutter closed and you begin slipping into the land of dreams, but you faintly feel a pair of lips pressing quickly to your forehead.

He gestures a playful “come to me” motion with a smug grin and head nod, as he glides across the room of the fancy hotel suite, the smoke at his feet tickling the air around him, reaching out for you.

You both had been vacationing in for the last couple of days. You got up from the bed and smiled “I need your warm mortal cuddles babe, pron-tooo” He looked exhausted, a few fangs poked out of his upper lip as he closed his mouth a let out a loud dramatic sigh as he wrapped his arms around you and you tried doing the same but you couldn’t even touch the ends of your fingertips even if you wanted to.

As soon as you touched him, the thick grey smoke dispersed from his lower half and revealed a set of well-sculpted legs beneath. Dang those where some SHARP claves.

“Daddies exhausted, being responsibility free, primed and pampered sure takes it out of me..” he groans as he hunches over so that you can place a hand on the side of his face, you graze a finger across his sharp cheekbones and jawline. The blue flames on his head dance lazily as his eyes close themselves with a closed mouth grin set on his face.

“God your hands, Ooo!~ Just lovely. You need to replace my masseuse because, heh, They did not. Know how to handle me, babe. Almost made me send them to the Styx myself. But your...” without opening his eyes he reached for your free hand and smooshed your fingertip on your index finger as he held it in his hand. “...widdle hands of sweet deathly love...Oh~” he holds your hand against his chest and lowers even more and you guide him to the bed as you both continue to scoot towards the pillows “They just, make me, snap crackle pop~” he chuckles softly as he rolls over and pressed his head into your chest and proceeded to motorboat your (cleavage/chest) for just a second before settling down with a content smile.

His sleepy eyes opening, revealing those black pupils of his.

 “I hope you’re comfy because I’m not leaving this spot. You're stuck now sweet-cakes.” 

He lets out a low animalistic purr and he begins to massage your side with one hand as he completely lays his weight against you. His body was so warm, not uncomfortably so but like a good medium setting heating pad. While his fingers and hands were oddly colder. The faint smell of pomegranate cologne wafted from underneath his loosely fitting black bathrobe and when he spoke you noticed a hint of oranges on his breath...and a shuddering indescribable smell of a feeling. That you could only guess smelled like the feeling of the cold shill that a soul must feel drenched in the waters of the Styx...but mostly oranges. You wore a bathrobe as well, your favorite color. A cute bow tie on the side which Hades had made for you with a boyish joy.

Hades now had parted your bathrobe a bit on the chest making you blush and he laid on the part that had revealed your bare skin and he let out a deep exhale and the fire on his head flickered a bit, sending small sparks on your bathrobe which you had to pat down quickly to prevent them from burning it. You of course had something to prevent his fire from causing damage to you but not the clothing you wore... so, there was a hole burned into it, and the smell was now being whisked away by the ventilation.

Upon relaxing you often found yourself running your hands across his shoulder, focusing on the feeling. The taut skin, the meatiness. The muscle...the rather sharp elbows, how bony they felt as you ran your fingers in soft circles around them. You then slipped your hand under his arm against his side. You noticed how his body slimmed down the lower your hand traveled, his waist not small, but shapely. You played with the side of his firm stomach and he let out a low verbal growl once more. His face reflecting pure bliss. He didn’t even have the energy to talk anymore, this meant he truly was worn out. All he had done was have lava baths and coal massages all day. He thankfully cooled off in the shower just before he hugged you. But he hadn’t done a single ounce of work. You agree that being so soothed sure made you tired as well.  You trailed your hand up to his bony backbone and he shivered a bit, letting out a low slurred, “that’s nice...”.

You then found your own eyes start to close as he rhythmically rubbed his thumb in circles around your belly button.

He sure could snore. You woke up due to the vibrations of his snoring against your stomach. It tickled and traveled down your legs making you squirm a bit.

His fire was much dimmer than it usually was and took the form of a buzz cut look. Only momentarily flickering here and there, larger than that.

You looked at his face and studied his calm and sleeping features. The sharpness, the darkness around his eyes, almost hollow. His…quite luscious lips. Allowing a fang or two to poke out momentarily when he stirred and moved his mouth and of course, his dynamic chin which led him to lay the side his head on your chest instead of the front. His inhuman features where only starting to become normal to you...he was a god. And gods sure could have weird features and proportions.

He often spoke a bit in his sleep, slurred words mostly. But sometimes he could get louder, saying one word and then simmering down. This time the words “my...town” kept popping up and this made you smile in confusion.

He was always a hugger and a holder. Never was there a time where he did not have some part of his body touching you. And he often got very possessive of you in his sleep. He’d pull you in closer to him, waking you up loads of times, then continued to snore softly. He has often sleep groped your rear or continually squeezed softly any fat on your body he could take hold of. He even squeezed the muscle. He just would keep doing it until his motion lulled you back to sleep. Sometimes you found himself holding your hand against your back while sleeping, or firmly against your side. Restricting you a bit. As if he was making sure you wouldn’t try and get up. He’s apologized on numerous accounts, especially when you try and wake him up to let you go so that you can use the bathroom etc.

By the way, he is an extremely grumpy man when he’s woken up. He needs his 8+ hours or he’s going to be boiling from nonexistent underworld sunup to sundown.

He loves it when you both spoon each other. When you're facing each other in bed, your leg on top of him, holding him and pressing yourself against his chest. Oh, whenever he awakes to that...he can’t help but wake you by doing something…“uncalled for”

Just before bed though. He usually was very chatty. You both can talk about stupid things and just goof off together like two friends at a sleepover. You both will gossip, tease. Laugh at the stupidest things and can’t stop. And the more tired he grew the more stupid and silly the conversation turned and the deeper and whisper-like his voice would be until you both cant verbalize words anymore and just make noises at each other as you fell asleep.

“Blurrf.”

He loves cuddling your sensitive areas the most. Ass, neck whatever. That was his go-to spot. Along with the previously mentioned groping. He also just adores pinching your cheeks. Whenever he gets the chance, even if you find it annoying or not he just mocks you and calls you his (queen/king ) of the damned, my whole underworld, kitten/puppy, soul snatcher, the fire to his brimstone, a hunk of burning love...you get the gist.

You remember one time waking up before him and deciding that you wanted his attention right then and there. So, you crawled onto his chest and sat down, legs placed on either side of him. Feeling the lack of a heartbeat under you. As you looked at his sleeping mouth half-open face for a few minutes...smiling while sliding your hands under his nightshirt. He let out a low groan and turned his head from the pillow. Sleepily opening his eyes, looking up at you. Once you two locked eyes he clears his throat and slowly raised his hand to rub the corner of his eye. SAN DIEGO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Tandem Diabetes Care, Inc. (NASDAQ: TNDM), a leading insulin delivery and diabetes technology company, today presented positive real-world data from ongoing use of the t:slim X2™ insulin pump with Control-IQ® advanced hybrid closed-loop technology, demonstrating statistically significant improvements in glycemic and patient-reported outcomes. Emphasis was placed on qualitative experiences as well as insights from diverse populations using the system. The data was presented this week during the 81st Scientific Sessions of the American Diabetes Association.

Glycemic Outcomes by Ethnicity in Adults with Type 1 Diabetes Using Control-IQ Technology: Early Results from the CLIO Study Oral Presentation (217-OR) Session: Insulin Delivery Systems

This presentation reported outcomes from the ongoing Control-IQ Observational (CLIO) study evaluating real-world use of the t:slim X2 insulin pump with Control-IQ technology in diverse groups of people with type 1 diabetes. At baseline, Black participants reported the highest HbA1c (8.1%) compared to participants from other ethnic cohorts. Using Control-IQ technology, Glucose Management Indicator (GMI) at 21 days reflected significant glycemic improvements across all ethnic groups with Asian participants showing the lowest GMI (6.8%) followed by Caucasian participants (7.0%). At 21 days, the median sensor time in range (TIR) of Black participants (62.7%, IQR=53.4-74.7) was significantly lower than for Caucasian participants (75.1%, IQR=70.3-81.0) while controlling for age, gender, reported exercise, annual income, and prior therapy. Baseline HbA1c was the key factor predicting sensor TIR, followed by exercise, annual income, and multiple daily injections (MDI, prior therapy). Disparities in glycemic outcomes across socioeconomic and demographic groups recorded at baseline remained after initiating an automated insulin dosing system. However, Control-IQ technology significantly improved glycemic outcomes for all ethnic groups.

Insulin Delivery Patterns Vary Across Age Groups with Use of Control-IQ Technology* Poster Presentation (92-LB) Category: Clinical Therapeutics/New Technology—Insulin Delivery Systems

This presentation reported insulin use on the t:slim X2 pump with Control-IQ technology from the ongoing CLIO Study evaluating real-world use of the t:slim X2 insulin pump with Control-IQ technology in a large, diverse cohort with type 1 diabetes. Study sample included 1,499 participants who had uploaded at least 21 days of pump data to Tandem’s t:connect® web application and had 75% CGM use during this time. Insulin delivery during the study was compared to standard formulas for predicting correction factor (CF = 1,800/total daily dose) and carbohydrate ratio (CR = 450/total daily dose). Results demonstrated that insulin use with the t:slim X2 pump with Control-IQ technology differed from standard prediction formulas across age groups, in that the correction factor prediction factor (CFPF) was significantly greater in children and teenagers. CFPF was lowest in children aged 6-9 and in adults aged 66 and above. Additional study is recommended, with comparison to final glycemic outcomes, to determine ideal insulin delivery settings with Automated Insulin Dosing, as examination of insulin use patterns may assist in optimizing outcomes.

“I Feel Human, I Feel Normal”: A Qualitative Study of Experiences with Control-IQ Technology in Early Adopters Poster Presentation (531-P) Category: Psychosocial, Behavioral Medicine

This presentation reported results from qualitative analyses of semi-structured interviews conducted with adult (N=27) early adopters of Control-IQ technology to understand their experiences of initiating and continued use of this technology. Improved sleep quality, glycemic control, and sensor time in range were common themes reported by participants along with reduced burden of diabetes management. Overall, participants described valuable improvements in their quality of life, including reduced stress and decision-making around diabetes management, and increased freedom and spontaneity in daily life with continued use of Control-IQ technology.

Real-World Evaluation of Glycemic Outcomes by Prior Therapy for People with Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes Onboarding to Control-IQ Technology Poster Presentation (710-P) Category: Clinical Therapeutics/New Technology—Insulin Delivery Systems

This presentation examined retrospective analysis of real-world glycemic outcomes by previous therapy between people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes over a period of six months after they onboarded to Control-IQ technology (excluding individuals who had undergone a software update from a previous Tandem system). After 180 days of starting Control-IQ technology, for prior pump users with type 1 diabetes, sensor TIR was 74% (median, IQR 65-81%) and time below <70mg/dL was 1.2% (IQR 0.6-2.1%). For prior pump users with type 2 diabetes, sensor TIR was 76% (IQR 69-82%) and time below <70mg/dL was 0.5% (IQR 0.2-1.0%). For participants transitioning from MDI, Control-IQ technology resulted in sensor TIR of 74% (IQR 64-83%) and 0.9% time below <70mg/dL (IQR 0.4-1.7%) for people with type 1 diabetes and 74% TIR (IQR 63-84%) and 0.3% time below <70mg/dL (IQR 0.1-0.6%) for people with type 2 diabetes. Using Control-IQ technology, both type 1 and type 2 diabetes participants (irrespective of prior therapy) achieved the recommended sensor TIR and time below <70mg/dL outcomes.
