#yes… yes!!!!!#little defo feels put into a corner bc here is jopson with whom crozier makes basically a 180 turn around when speaking to him#meanwhile he - crozier‘s first on terror nonetheless!!! - basically gets ordered like an actual dog to go out#into temps so cold a grown man‘s heart just stopped#i do believe that its simply not within little‘s nature to act on any disagreement he might have with his commanding officer#which also plays into his borderline chronic inability to put his foot down for good even w those he outranks (namely dundy and tozer) (tags via @feydrautha)

Little is so furious with both Jopson and Crozier here and I find this scene very intense. He really hates both of them for a moment, but it’s Little’s ability to blame Crozier’s perceived cruelty on his alcoholism, and his will not to act out on his emotions or inclinations that stops the conflict from escalating further. I usually read this scene as Little being insulted that Crozier treats Jopson more like his second than Little, but it serves the story later on, not only considering Jopson’s future formal promotion and Little and Jopson butting heads later, but also maintaining the thread of conflict between Crozier and Little, hence the mutineers approach Little to join their number first but he stays loyal to Crozier, perhaps partly envious of Jopson and Crozier’s relationship and perhaps because he follows a very strict moral code. Little struggles to remain professionally loyal to the established authority, but he has moments of thinking about betraying Crozier. In comparison Jopson doesn’t need to force himself to be loyal and his devotion is unwavering.
