Once again I have so many thoughts, but very limited time to express them, so will attempt to make my swirling brain come up with something coherent.

I am finding it interesting to see all the different reactions to Dangerous Romance this week. To be clear, I am the kind of person who rarely has expectations going into a show, and am much more a "meh, let's see where the journey takes us" kind of watcher. I'm also very much still in my "yay, queer content" phase, and if it means looking at Perth for an hour a week, I'm probably going to be happy. (Not that I'm never disappointed, do I think Big Dragon needed about 200% more BDSM? Yes, yes I do.)

I do totally respect when a show isn't working for some people. That said, I am completely fine with the pacing, because what I am seeing, is a fuck-ton of setup.

Sure, the bullying has stopped, but now we know Kang is capable of being very dark and cruel, especially when there is something making him feel powerless in his life. He also has a weakness around Sailom, and is still trying to exert control, just in a new way.

Yeah, Sailom only had to escort once before getting back to tutoring, but Name literally followed him to his place of work, AND confirmed for himself that Sailom will accept a job like that with very little pushback - meaning if he gets even more desperate, it won't take much to push him further. Name is not going to do nothing with that information.

And I get if people feel like Saifah and Sailom should be freaking out more about their situation, but I kind of feel like that's purposeful? Saifah is an ass. He acts like everything is no big deal, because his little brother is going to be the one busting his butt to save them. He plays the part of the benevolent loving older brother, he buys treats for Sailom, but if it's a choice between Sailom getting beaten or himself, he's fine if it's Sailom.

And I may really be getting in the clown car here, but...who gets an injury that puts them in a desperate situation right at the worst time, when Sailom loses his tutoring job? Who would be in the best position to tell Name where Sailom works, and that Sailom will be easy to convince to accept an offer?

And right now Sailom is still in his "I adore my older brother" phase. It's been just the two of them for so long. He doesn't act stressed in front of Saifah, because when he told Saifah he lost his tutoring job, Saifah's response was, "yeah, rich people suck, huh". He's learned to hide his feelings, because his brother is an ass who will not take them seriously, and his friends will immediately want to try to help him - and he doesn't want help he doesn't feel he's earned. So yeah, we're not seeing his mask slip much yet - but I think we will. He will hit his breaking point.

Ok, and this is where I need to talk about the bubble. Because, yeah, Kang was snapped out of his when he saw Sailom getting beaten. But now - he's just in another one. One where he has accepted his money can't buy Sailom, but where he believes his money can protect Sailom. And right now? Sailom is joining him in this bubble. Why wouldn't he? It feels warm and safe and there's a cute boy inside. They can play games and work by candlelight. (I mean, c'mon, Kang literally put the boy in a VR helmet).

But this bubble, like the first one, is going to burst. And it's going to be rough for both of them.

Alexa, play Hey, Jealousy

This whole scene, Kang is obviously feeling jealous, because Pimfah is listing reasons why she likes Sailom. But! It easily reads as Kang struggling to confront the truth of what she's saying. Because he knows all these things about Sailom, he feels the same way about him, but he hasn't allowed himself to contextualize those feelings as "why I like Sailom".

That reality is why Kang is struggling to maintain his friendly interaction with Sailom after.

This is pretty straight forward jealousy.

Except that Kang got more upset when Sailom said that he pushed him to the cheerleading thing so that he could have a shot with Pimfah.

Kang thinks he's upset because Pim likes Sailom, but he's also upset because if Pim likes Sailom, then obviously Sailom will date her, she's great, but then Sailom will be dating her. And those feelings are very big and very confusing. Which we see here:

For Kang, Pim and Sailom dating was the logical conclusion. Sailom is a great guy, and Pim is the best, of course they'll get together.

When they don't, it's a threat to the narrative he's created, where he's jealous of Sailom, not because of Sailom. Where he can put everyone and all his feelings back into little boxes if his two friends just get together like they should. Where he can deal with the blow to his plan to give his dad what he wants, and marry someone who can give him kids, if everyone would just behave like they're supposed to.

This one is... this is the start of Kang figuring his shit out.

Guy literally rips Sailom away from Kang, and Kang can't even argue that Sailom is his friend, too, because he's very much not been a friend to him, and Sailom is actively keeping his distance.

Kang arrives with breakfast excited -- his body language is a little nervous, but almost giddy as he runs up the stairs with that cautiously optimistic smile. He's ready to mend fences and probably apologize, and reestablish their friendship (and ignore Sailom's confession, because Kang is Not there yet).

And there's his future best friend in law Guy, taking care of Sailom the way he wants to be, and he's hurt, but he's also angry that he's missed his chance. This is where he's fully aware of the cause of his jealousy.

THEN! THIS!

THIS BEAUTIFUL SCENE!

Kang's friends are sure he's upset about the seniors being shitty to him and not acknowledging his contribution to the game. They're offering reassurances that he's earned his spot, but Kang hears none of it, because all he can see is Sailom hugging and congratulating Guy, smiling and being happy with Guy.

And here's where it all solidifies.

Where "Sailom works so hard, and he makes me feel like I should work hard, too" and "she likes you (why does that make me so mad)" and "I like you" and "he's my friend" all coalesce, and Kang gets it.

He understands that what he's feeling is romantic interest. That he needs to fix what he broke right now.

Of course, he's still 17/18 and dumb, because what he opens with is this:

Which like, yeah baby, we know. But that's not the important information from that little revelation. And Sailom, bless his little angry gay heart, rightfully responds with "And? Who tf do you think you are?"

Kang is clearly struggling. Struggling with Sailom's anger, and with finding the right thing to say that will appease him and also be true-- the thing that will quiet the screaming in his heart, because big feelings are not his forte.

And then Sailom deflates a little, and says "Please, can you just tell me?" and asks tiredly if he's somehow made Kang feel guilty again (because why else would Kang be there, there's nothing between them, right? They're not friends, Kang just feels guilty about how he's treated Sailom, right) And then, Kang knows what to do.

(it's also Very Interesting to me that in an episode that told so much of its story in flashback montages, the one that we get right when they kiss is "I used to hate it, but I think I'm starting to like it", because despite everything, Kang has never hated Sailom. Dude has been obsessed from the start)

Anyway, this was going to be a funny post with just the pictures of our boy being jealous, and then figuring out why, but obviously I'm not normal about them and this happened. *shrug emoji*

hi!! i can’t stop thinking about your wild-ass theory about saifah and how it feels like you’ve predicted the whole dang plot!

im thinking next episode is gonna be mostly happy and fluffy with a bit of angst about kang and his dad (otherwise you’d think they would’ve had the saifah getting arrested clip in the trailer for the episode). but then I reckon episode 9 is where shit’s gonna go DOWN (although it might also be episode 10, but it feels like there’s several subplots that’re gonna happen and they’re gonna need as many episodes as possible to unpack them while still having a satisfying ending)

Wild Ass Theory Update

@quodekash, because this is you giving me a compliment and me blushing from it, I'm giving you everything that has been stuck in my head over the past couple of weeks.

TLWR: Episode 8/9 - Kanghan is going to throw a tantrum about his dad paying for him to get on the team, spend all his dad's money on Sailom on a trip, and sleep with him, only to return home and see that his dad has been shot and Saifah had something to do with it causing him to question everything about Sailom.

Thank you very much for saying that you love my theories, and that I'm awesome, but I appreciate even more that you LOVE Dangerous Romance.

Because I, too, love it. An unreasonable amount, in fact. It makes me so happy even though I know some pain is headed our way.

And much like you, I think that pain is coming in episode 9. Now that Saifah is in Kang's house, we might see some warning signs in episode 8 in the shape of this beautiful giant red flag.

I feel more than confident that Papang is capable of stealing, but I don't think he has it in him to rob an employer's home or shoot someone, which is also a part of my theory (let the dad get shot, please!), so Name has to be involved!

But that's partly why I love this show. It has done a good job giving us crumbs along the way about what is to come, which is why I don't feel like it's a wild ass theory because I think Saifah does feel some type of way about Name enough to help him with a dumb plan.

Because even Kang's dad paying for Kang to get on the soccer team was implanted into the story well.

Since we knew from the first episode that he regularly donates money to the school for students, so it wouldn't seem out of the norm for some of that money to benefit his child as well.

Even Pimfah's crush on Sailom seemed written in stone to me from the first episode when the dog discussion came up since she stood firmly on the "show the dog love" side then continued to show Sailom love while Kang is in the "punish the dog" boat.

So, once again, I think the show has done a great job telling us Saifah is going to be involved in robbing that house, even if it's as simple as letting the actual robbers in. But robbing the house doesn't seem enough to split the couple up, which is why I think someone has to get shot.

DON'T LET IT BE THE GRANDMA! It must be the dad.

The grandma has to be the one to convince Kang to trust himself and his love for Sailom, so he can believe Sailom had nothing to do with this plot, and that Saifah didn't intend for anyone to get hurt.

The dad has to be shot because there is still tension between him and Kanghan, AND wouldn't it be interesting if the robbery (and shooting) were less about "eat the rich" and more of the political backstabbing variation?

So with all that being written, I think the robbery will happen either at the end of episode eight or the beginning of episode nine IF Kanghan finds out early in the episode that his dad paid for him to get on the team since Pimfah is going to drop this line in eight.

Would really suck for Kanghan to be focused and on the right path only for his last parent to get shot, and him be lost all over again, no? Would be awful for Kang to find out his dad paid his way onto the team, be pissed off about it, throw a tantrum, and use up all his money on a trip with Sailom where he tells him how much he loves him . . .

Spend the night with Sailom (possibly their first time together) telling him how much he appreciates Sailom for believing in him like the best version of a BL honeymoon

Only to return home and see his dad has been shot and think Sailom had something to do with it since Saifah is being arrested.

Kanghan will push Sailom away from guilt of being upset at his father who is now in the hospital and confusion of his feelings for Sailom, which means Sailom is going to have to start escorting again to make ends meet because Name is NOT in jail and still in charge of debts (10?)

Then Kanghan is going to assault Sailom. (10?)

The grandma is gonna be like "IDIOT!" and Kanghan is going to rescue Sailom (11?)

And Sailom is going to cry about having no one left, and Kanghan is going to be like "you still have me" (11?)

And then we get episode 12 where the real baddies go to jail.

The crumbs have been laid, and I'm following them all the way to grandma's house. Name x Saifah, don't just be my ghost ship.

The Bathroom

So when I was editing the first part of the critical podcast for episode 6 something occurred to me: after Sailom's confession, Kanghan can't sleep and he goes looking for Sailom. However, even though they have a common bathroom, he chooses to go around and knock on the outside door of Sailom's room.

I thought it was curious, considering that he ends up breaking in uninvited anyway. And so I went back and looked at the history of the bathroom scenes.

The first time they meet in the bathroom is in episode 4, during their dramatic separation era.

In this scene, Kanghan uses this moment of privacy to check on Sailom and express his concern. The space allows them to get closer and Kang uses the physical contact as an opportunity to offer Sailom help.

Then we have the revelation that their rooms in Kang's house have a jack and jill bathroom from episode 5.

When Kanghan shows the bathroom to Sailom he says "This is my bathroom. I can use it anytime I want. Deal with it". Basically, Sailom gets the safe space that he needs, but he also gets to be closer to Kang. As a condition. Or a bonus.

Then we have the insane moment when Kanghan proceeds to use this situation to shamelessly flirt and tease Sailom.

He does not hesitate to present Sailom with the perks of sharing this space with him.

When Sailom needs comfort during his first night in the new house he goes through the bathroom and almost knocks on Kang's door.

But he does not dare.

So, going back to the moment after the confession, even though this passage between their rooms exists, why does Kanghan not go through the bathroom?

A thing that's been almost palpable in this show is that once the boys get close they start to have this little world of their own that is completely disconnected from the outside world. It's like a bubble of intimacy, as suggested by Z. It's a safe space where they can be there for each other.

I feel like the bathroom has become the physical embodiment of this bubble. It's a safe space where they can connect. It's a secret passage between their worlds and their hearts. It's a place where they can just be themselves and open with each other.

As pointed out by @kessthenorthface, this insulated little world that they share does not exist in episode 6. Kanghan avoids intimacy because he's confused and unsure about his feelings. He avoids going to Sailom's room through the bathroom.

Sailom uses Pimfah's space when confronting Kanghan after he takes care of him being sick, something that could have never worked, as suggested by Z, because Pimfah does not belong in their bubble. (He should have totally done it in their bathroom).

By the end of the episode, Kanghan forcibly drags Sailom into the bathroom and desperately kisses him.

He's on his way to expressing his feelings, but their bubble gets invaded and their intimacy is broken.

Maybe it was not the right bathroom and maybe Sailom needed to open the door to it willingly.

And then we have the last scene involving the bathroom from episode 7. Kanghan is finally self-aware. He accepts his feelings and proceeds to immediately pursue Sailom. At first, he goes to the outside door of his room, but Sailom will not open it. Then he goes through the bathroom. He's finally ready to embrace the intimacy and step back into the bubble. So he asks Sailom to open the door to his heart for him and step into it as well.

But Sailom actually lets him in.

As their world expands and they feel more comfortable in the outside world, I'm betting that there will be fewer bathroom moments in the future. They don't actually need this secret passage right now.

But they will need it again.

Dangerous Romance Episode 2

In which round 2 of Kanghan versus Sailom continues with Sailom proving to be as steadfast and whipped smart while Kanghan and his bruised ego made multiple attempts to get Sailom to break without success 😂😂

It opens up with Sailom answering maths/physic questions without needing to do any calculations, while simultaneously helping Auto with his homework despite a wonky laptop. Kangham and his cronies (on the other hand) are licking their wounds and tries to erase all evidence of the Sailom-Kanghan kiss 💋.

It’s ironic then his own buddy (Max) didn’t do so and the video eventually made its way to grandma. Kanghan tries his hardest to flip the narrative by lying to his grandma but grandma (I love her!! Such dignity and poise) with the help of Pimfah is already aware of Kanghan’s bullying nature (this is why women in most Thai BL dramas are the superior species 🤫) and not only gave a much needed kick to Kanghan’s ego (hah! She made him apologise to Sailom 😝) but also delivered the ultimatum to the useless home school teacher, invest on more CCTV to make the school safer AND offered Sailom to tutor his unrepentant grandson 🫣

Sailom tries to avoid taking up the offer, but with debt mounting and a carefree brother, he took the job (and as a bonus continues to frustrate a seething Kanghan 😅) - also Kanghan brought it on himself by trying to sabotage Sailom’s work - Sailom continues to have some of the best line in this episode “Haven’t you heard of the Cloud system, the work is uploaded automatically.” “From now on, call me Tutor Sailom 😁”

He tries his hardest to teach an uninterested Kanghan but ultimately gave up and return the money to Kanghan (not before delivering a much deserved punch to the latter’s face! - urghh Kanghan made a douchebag move, basically framing Sailom as a pervert preying on young children, and making the former lose his tutoring job of teaching primary school students) - I think it’s also quite telling it’s the way Kanghan besmirch his reputation that finally made him angry enough (not the bullying, not the rudeness and how Kanghan threw his money to Sailom etc) - and this is consistent with what we know of Sailom’s character. He has never been tempted (yet) with money, not if it means sacrificing his honesty and integrity. And so for Kanghan to sully his reputation as a provocation, well, I don’t blame him for giving a shiner to Kanghan.

We finished the episode with Kanghan deciding to threaten Sailom with an empty gun to comply with his demands but it ended up with him saving Sailom from a beat up/torture (can’t believe those thugs almost used an iron to burn his arms!! 😱).

And this (in my humble opinion) is where we see the turning point for the Sailom-Kanghan’s interaction. While the latter can be a douchebag and a bully, he is not exactly an evil person (just terribly immature and spoilt). Finding Sailom who carries himself with dignity; breaking down, scared and crying to the point he hugged his not-friend is likely an eye opener for him - realising how hard Sailom works in school and his side jobs to pay off his debt while still maintaining his integrity (we see all the flashbacks of what Kanghan did to inconvenient Sailom, and while the latter always push back he never retaliated…)

It should be interesting to see how their friendship (and love) blossom now that Kanghan has declared to Sailom, Saifah and himself again that Sailom is his tutor (I think both Sailom AND Kanghan looked stunned when he said that 😅)

Me while watching Dangerous Romance Ep 11

1. Before we start, if Name did sacrifice Saifah and set him up to the police, I would advocate skinning Name alive - not only for Saifah but also for the effect of what he did to Sailom 🤬

2. When I grow up, I want to have a bff like Guy (and Auto, as a bonus 😅😅).

3. Again, Kang why were you in that hotel room in the first place? Why were you calling Sailom's phone before the attempted r*pe happened? Why the fvck do you say "it's none of your concern" but still show some care????

4. Oh, no. Looks like Sailom will be forced to withdraw from school 😭😭😭😭 Who can blame him? Poor baby can't catch a break.

5. Sailom!!!! C'mon, forget your pride and use your rich friends (specifically Pimfah) for their money. They are willing to help anyway. You need to graduate to get out of poverty 😭😭😭😭

(Side note: Yes, Asians do value education a lot because it opens doors to opportunities that are firmly shut to those who did not go to uni. It's one of the many reasons why "poor" remains poor, because nobody would give anybody without a diploma a chance to prove and improve themselves.)

Okay, now I'm crying for all the opportunities Sailom will lose as he officially resigns from school.

Also, apologies to those who are related to (or are) real ones, but police in drama are rarely useful. Unless they are the effing main character. The universal portrayal of the useleness of police officers in drama and in literature is quite disheartening. Especially when you are reminded that there are police officers who act like this in real life.

9. So, where is Name in all this mess??? Just when he promised to Saifah that he'll take care of Sailom, Sailom gets shot.

10. Sailom asking the right questions 😂😂😂 Also, what's up with that motel room having a huge picture of boobies at the bedside table???? Not to be that person, but shouldn't it be strategically located like at the opposite side of bed? Or the ceiling? You know, for it to properly do its job? 🤔🤔🤔🤔

Today was the last day of Dangerous Romance. It is time to say goodbye to Sailom and Kang but also all the characters around them. Everything ended the way it was supposed to be, so everyone gets a happy ending.

I'm really someone who loves a happy ending. I don't mind drama or sadness in a series as long as the characters are guaranteed to have a happy ending. I find life already so harsh that I don't wish for anyone to suffer without having happiness at the end so I was glad everyone got it in the series. It was a very sweet ending sometimes even cheesy but I don't mind. I think everyone could see how it would end from the very beginning so if you watched it until the end you knew what you would get.

Saifah got released from prison after Name confessed about what happened. Kang was shot but survived. His dad woke up and Saifah didn't need to make amends to anyone because he was truly innocent.

I was really into Saifah's small scene with Name when he went to visit him over there. I still don't know if the director aimed for a bromance or romance between these two characters. It always felt like they gave the option to watchers to decide what they believe their relationship is. On a side note, I wish they would give a lead role to Papang where he could play a mature relationship in a BL. He could do it well.

Kang got to play football in front of his dad so they could bond again over this, showing how their relationship greatly improved.

At the same time Nawa and Guy decided to really pursue their blooming relationship and kissed... Several times because they are still very competitive individuals. It was sweet and funny at the same time. I still believe they didn't get enough screentime for their relationship to end this way but it's just a small complaint. Mind you, I thought their kiss was better than the first loving kiss between Sailom and Kang.

Pimfah got a small scene again with Napdao. Again, I don't know what the director wanted to imply. I also wish for more GL in general but the teacher / student relationship always makes me cringe. I felt it wasn't really necessary but fortunately they never made it akward to watch.

At the end of the episode Kang finally got admitted in the same university of his boyfriend where he will pursue the dream path he discovered recently. They also got a short kinky scene where nothing really happened but a lot of teasing and few kisses but it was a good representation of what is their relationship. I'm glad they are together and wish them the best.

Now that the series is over I can say that despite how sweet I found Sailom and Kang's relationship and how mostly cute the series was, what I really liked was Kang's growth. He was the rich bully that we cannot stand and became this loving teen who wants to do his best. He learnt how to love and what love really means. His relationship with his father improved so much. He still has insecurities but he was ready to shine and overcome them. Perth's acting was truly good and he showed a various range of emotions to display the development of Kang.

It's always bittersweet to say goodbye to a series because you get attached to the universe and characters you learnt to love and appreciate over 12 weeks. Luckily, there are many more BL's series coming this month so we won't feel deprived.

Dangerous Romance, Episode 4

In which the directors (and scriptwriters) want us to know Kanghan and Sailom belongs together cause what’s a windmill without the wind?

Well…this is the episode where Kanghan starts to grow up and learn that for every action, there is a consequence. We see him realising his previous mean-spirited actions meant Sailom has no other job apart from tutoring him. And even that is precarious with Kanghan only half-heartedly committed to the tutoring sessions (there is no doubt both of them are friends now but Kanghan still dismissed Sailom when the VR set arrived)… until grandma gives an ultimatum, whereby Kanghan must pass all his midterms or otherwise Sailom loses his tutoring job. And that makes Kanghan panics, cause he likes hanging out with Sailom (but him being a dork, thinks the only way Sailom will spend time with him is if the latter is getting paid for the tutoring sessions). Cue some cute montage of the boys becoming closer and closer during tutoring sessions(🥹🥹🥹…and such sweet scenes - also, kudos to Kanghan flirting with Sailom by using the Kanghan/windmill and Sailom/wind analogy, but heh, Sailom walked into that one 😂)

But despite Kanghan truly showing a significant improvement across his academic scores, he still failed one subject. Cue sad montage of them spending time alone and being absolutely miserable without each other, pining from afar (boys, there is no harm just hanging out without studying/tutoring you know??? 😫😩 it’s like they think they are Romeo and Juliet or something)

And with Sailom’s financial situation becoming worse - his brother’s twisted ankle (is it just me? But I think Saifah is doing some shady businesses with these old ladies he is looking after..like, I’m sorry, but I genuinely worry Saifah is maybe skimming some money from these oldies….the way he kept saying “auntie so and so gave me an extra 1000 baht for medical or auntie X gave me this shoes etc etc.”). Plus no more side jobs - be it tutoring or the car wash, Sailom reluctantly takes a job as an escort under Name (and if that’s not an ominous sign of what to come, cause we know from the trailer Sailom will be doing more of this escort business…)

Ultimately, Kanghan and Pimfah caught Sailom when he is out in his job as an escort. And while it truly looked just an outing, I guess there is always a threat that it could escalate to more. This prompted Pimfah to ask Sailom as a tutor (but both Kanghan and Sailom can see she asked him so that the latter doesn’t need to do any more escorting)

We ended with Kanghan persuading grandma to hire Sailom as a tutor again - “It must be Sailom. After all, what’s a windmill without the wind.” Grandma being the best wingman (ahem, I mean woman) ever told Sailom that for Kanghan to receive the best tutoring possible, he must move in and live with them in their mansion.

(seriously, by the end of this episode with the rain, windmill umbrella and both boys waiting it out in the rain, followed by the absolute domestic scenes of them fooling around and chasing in Kanghan’s garden, I almost believe we are in a fairy tale and these 2 are in their happily ever after era - but we are not even halfway there 🫣)

I know some people don’t like this series. But I personally like Perth and Chimon in this. They have an easy chemistry and as actors, both of them are good at micro expressions - they always make be belief in whatever they are acting out (be it Kanghan/Sailom pining from afar to both of them slowly but surely falling in love with each other) - so, I’m rooting for them, and I can’t wait to see how their relationship developed further (also, they were my favourite pairing in NVLM 🫣)

Dangerous Romance Episode 3

In which Kanghan and Sailom are basically dating without the labelling ✌️🫣

We see the boys getting close together with Kanghan agreeing to be tutored by Sailom. For someone who hemmm…until recently despise Sailom, he spends a lot of his free time with the latter - not only daily tutoring but sending him home with rides on his bike, eating dinner in expensive restaurant, and Kanghan even casually buying food for Sailom to share with his brother (now that was sleekly done Kanghan! 😏)

Even on his birthday, and I’m surprised but also sad Kanghan didn’t think much of his birthday, just shrugging it off when his 2 besties asked what his plan for the day is, saying he needs to check in with Sailom whether they have tutoring or not. You can tell he has fun with Sailom during their tutoring sessions, even if Sailom got them to do really questionable things - what’s with the bar scene? (I’m sorry, I snorted and laughed 😂 with the whole scene of them pretending to be Korean tourists speaking English, and Kanghan straight up just asking for people IG 🫣 as a bad pick up line to “practice English.”)

But obviously, there is the sinister undertone I kind of expect with this series - we see Pepper’s character (Name) saw the 2 boys drinking beers and chatting up with the foreigners, and he seems to clock on Sailom. Similarly, when Sailom was innocently waiting for Kanghan to finish his business in the loo, he got approached by said foreigner who believes Sailom is a willing rent boy (and when Sailom firmly decline, the foreigner didn’t like the answer and almost start sexually harassing him until Kanghan intercepted (hot-headedly, if I may add).

Sailom definitely starts to notice how Kanghan is more than just a bully in this episode. I think for someone who has always been self-reliant and independent due to his financial constraints, having Kanghan casually giving him rides on his bike, feeding him dinner etc is such a novelty for Sailom. And Sailom has enough self awareness of his own attraction to Kanghan but knows the latter is still oblivious to it (plus other barriers including the obvious one of their different social class). (Really, Kanghan can be such a lame dork 😅, but he can be endearing too - otherwise I don’t think Pimfah, Max and Nawa would have stick around that long as his friends).

This episode also highlight and give us a bit more in-depth look at Kanghan and his father’s relationship. On the outside, he is the perfect doting dad who spoils his only son with all the material wealth Kanghan ever need. But I find it weird his dad never has any expectations on him (and I will again reiterate this is so unusual for Asian parents!!! Kanghan mentioned something about his dad has been like this ever since his mom passed away? So I wonder if there is a connection? Mom passing away from illness maybe and Kanghan may have similar illness? So dad don’t want to put any expectations on him? I’m just speculating now…)

Nevertheless you can see this has shaped him, where he feels anchorless. No matter what he does (good or bad), it doesn’t seem to matter with his dad. And even when he tried his hardest to finally set expectations to himself (and by default also his dad) by promising to pass the midterm to get the motorbike he wanted, his dad undermined him - by getting him said bike 🏍️ without him needing to do anything. You can see his frustration (Perth is very good with micro expression and the way his eyes tensed, jaw locked while he smile to cover up his disappointment when he accepted the bike from his dad 😔)

We end up with Kanghan and Sailom having a mini celebration of the former’s bday by the pool and with Sailom giving a pep talk to Kanghan to start thinking about making himself AND Sailom proud (and again the micro expression in both boys - Kanghan stunned that someone does belief in him, and Sailom fiercely protective already)

But what’s this? a childhood connection - Sailom has met Kanghan and his mom before where they gave a ride home to Sailom? And Kanghan giving one of his paired umbrella ☔️ to Sailom? But Kanghan can’t remember he gave it??? (WHYYYYY? Did he get into an accident and has amnesia? and that’s why his mom passed away? Or maybe I’m way off and he just has a bad memory 😅)

Overall, I think this is an okay series. Of course, I might have been a bit misled by the trailer thinking that Sailom's family's debt forced him to sell himself (to prostitution) and Kang is gangster/mafia who comes to save him 😅, which could have perfectly explain the series title. Instead, we got minimal hints of danger all throughout the series. 😅😅 Still, I must thank this series for bringing MarcPawin back 😭😭😭 Now, to get GMMTV to have them cast as main for another BL series...😅😅😅
