I'm playing in other waters today, and one of the journal entries says there's no need for a marine biologist "in a place where the only oceanic life is kept in tourist-choked reserves" and like bro I think that's when a marine biologist is needed the most??? recording soon to be or recently extinct species, animal husbandry duties in the zoos, analysis of the remaining habitat to determine what changes need to be made to make it habitable again, etc etc etc. also I guarantee it's not actually lifeless, I know the game maker(s) knew about algae blooms because there's one in the game already. that one very optional line kinda torpedoes the suspension of disbelief for me, but also it's fun to explore the ocean so whatever I'll keep playing
