wouldnt it be simultaneously extremely funny and extremely sad if wei ying's 婴 (infant, baby) was actually his milk name and his official name after his 100 days was still ying but 螢 (firefly), and no one else knew but his parents ? and he himself didnt know either bc cangse-sanren kept on calling him 婴 for the family inner jokey jokes and rarely called him 螢 ? bc apparently "The milk name may be abandoned but is often continued as a form of familial nickname." [note that, as far as i understand it, 嬰 (yīng) and 螢 (yíng) have diff tones and could historically have been pronounced differently so i wouldnt say they necessarily sound alike to ppl who do know the language well aka wwx and his fam and literally everyone else in the world of mdzs. they only sound alike to ppl who arent used to the nuances and minute differences in the tones that exist in mandarin chinese. correct me if im wrong tho lmao this is just for funsies]
