I'm an author, and I've just started using tumblr to post my work, connect with other writers, and reflect on my process. I hope to grow an audience that really likes what I make and enjoys reading it. But one day, I'd like to be able to promote my books on tumblr. Since you're an established author and you seem to use tumblr for that, I'd like to ask:

Do you recommend using tumblr to promote your work? Do you find it effective for getting the word out about what you've written? Or is it more of a platform for sharing ideas, tips, and advice?

Do you have any advice for what else can I be doing, as a writer, to hopefully get a few more eyeballs on my future projects when I release them?

I'm still figuring this stuff out !! and it's so hard :') , but also, very fun and so worth it. dedicating my life to my writing is the best choice I've ever made.

now to my experience, though i'm hesitant to call it advice per se:

i've found it a remarkable experience promoting my books on writeblr! i had a very well established following and network of friends here for years before i ever put out a published book, and i think it'd be quite hard to start promoting books on tumblr from the ground up if you have no eyes on you/no community to boost your posts.

i've used instagram for almost two years now and while i haven't put as much effort into maintaining it as i do with tumblr (because tumblr is just my irl primary social media) it hasn't yielded wonderful results in terms of sales? i also have a newsletter and a website with about the same problem.

it feels like all my eyes here on tumblr branch out to those other social medias if i post about them here, but i haven't taken on NEW fans through those other platforms, and it feels like my hq is tumblr for marketing. again, this is probably my own fault through not putting enough effort into those other platforms, and one of my resolutions this year is to change that!

however, this could be someone else's story by building a large audience on instagram and struggling to build a following on tumblr for marketing.

i don't know if my success is due to tumblr vs other platforms. what i do know is that tumblr has less of a creator/fans relationship (like on instagram for example) and more of a creator/creator (or just human/human) relationship that lends better to forming community and thereby followers and support. it's not as competitive. it's more friendly. people here really care about what you have to say and promote.

to make a very long answer short, do i think tumblr is a good place to market? yes. do i know how great it is compared equally to other platforms? no, i can't answer that with authority, but this here is my little corner. really hope this helps.

strengths wise… i’ll probably be good at rtawahist’s booth. i hated it in game because i didn’t know what i had to see (even though i knew it was head on) and just randomly clicked buttons BUT i do love these kind of challenges for irl booths. i also quite like the sporty type of activities so spantamad booth would have been something i enjoyed? (not the potions though lol.)

i also love the whole idea that loopholes are meant to be exploited.

As for a booth, I’m… not really sure? Like for the Akademiya ones, I’m terrible at making complicated things something everyone can do. I think I’d make a booth similar to the web event right now? Have different ingredients, say the effect of each ingredient, then let people learn how to brew their own potions. Honestly I’ve been loving these two past web events I wanna make a story based on them haha.

As for like a normal festival…. I know I have a habit overcomplicating things, so I’d probably do a simple food booth. LOL Or maybe one of those ones where you fish for rubber ducks, and depending on the number under the duck the person gets a specific prize. Or maybe a demonstration booth…? I’m not sure… Did you ever run a booth before?

music!! especially at the school I'm currently going to because they are so terrible at it, they're just messing around and having fun. It's so silly to watch but (very rarely) they'll pull off something really good every once in a while

clothes clothes clothes—I adore incomprehensible sketching mainly due to the fact that most of those I see are from notes passed around silently or on sticky notes and paper margins. Like. I have no idea what I'm looking at but I like that you doodled something

webweaves!! or mood boards, I have no idea how they work but they have little stories and tales or it's just a stranger creating something and then posting it and it's a little spark of joy

this one is so 'basic' yet it brings MUCH warmth, so. people. that's it. do not think I could say everything. y'know this might be a weird thing to randomly post about on my sonic the hedgehog tumblr blog but fuck it, i gotta say some stuff about animals (mainly dogs because i have too many thoughts for one redundant post i should narrow in on a species)

i don't see this behaviour online but can people irl stop being gross about pet genitalia, especially dogs and stuff? like, do you think vets are pervs for touching your dog's genitals? no? okay so you can also touch them if it's for good reasons (not something sexual)

do you know how many weird looks i've gotten from people when i say i do all of george's grooming maintenance besides his full appointments? yeah, that includes touching gross stuff like his scabs, fecal residue, urine residue, paws, mouth, etc... because "wait you touch his butt? you touch where his balls used to be? that's kinda sus" DUDE HE'S MY DOG I GOTTA CLEAN HIM WTF??? like i'm not having a good time either trust me, he hates baths, but i'm going to ensure he's clean and healthy by checking his whole body for oddities especially as he gets older. this isn't weird, maybe i'm a bit extra because most people barely think about this stuff, but vet training and my love for animals means i'm gonna be extra (also he sleeps on my bed and frequently lays on my face or licks it when i'm unconscious: i can't prevent it these days but at least i can brush his teeth so i'm not THAT grossed out)

also, some animals (like aggressive large dog breeds) need desensitization training as they grow up. a black russian terrier i puppysat needed this treatment where you'd have to just touch him everywhere and if he's snappy with something like his paw or tail or genitals just desensitize him. no, not abuse and purposely torment an animal don't try to twist this into something negative, i mean condition these types of dogs when they're small so when they're 200+ pounds and have extremely dangerous biting power, they won't bite a kid's face off if they poke his butt or something. it doesn't matter if the kid's parents were neglectful or if the kid was in the wrong because if this turns into a legal battle, we all know the dog is gonna lose. sometimes this shit is a necessary precaution and when done correctly it can be so important for a dog's welfare

boots on dogs aren't just to be quirky. george wears rubber ballon-like boots not only to prevent matting/contamination when it's wet or snowy/icy outside but also for temperature reasons and salt especially. it's a fucking lifesaver, not animal abuse. same with his jackets because it's hard enough to walk him during a snowstorm: he won't shit if he's uncomfortable and that's not something either of us want to deal with. yes he has a few sweaters and a pajama but they're for short term special occasion use (and he really likes them lmao)

i think people should give their dogs vegetables more. safe ones, but it's good for them. george has allergies which means he's on a raw food diet (he gets raw duck twice a day) and in addition to his meals he likes snacks! yogurt treats, sliced veggies, some blueberries, etc etc and his dietary issues literally vanished. all those stupid kibble commercials about how "dogs crave real meat, give them that with these processed nuggets" piss me off like ITS CHEAPER (for where i live) TO JUST GET FROZEN PACKS OF MEAT??? i don't expect every dog (or cat) owner to invest time in this kind of diet for their pet but maybe they'd bite their paws and lick themselves less if they had some real food lol just sayin' and it can even limit your food waste to share some of this stuff with your pet! just make sure it's safe first

also, i sorta mentioned this before but check your damn pets. maybe not 500 times a day like i do (george has skin tags that burst sometimes it's not just my obsessive tendencies) but like how do you not see something is wrong??? if you see a lump or a cut or a bite or a bug or an irritated area or a knot DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT??? AT LEAST KEEP AN EYE ON IT??? idk it just seems weird to me when people are oblivious to their pet's health issues until it's serious

LAST THING BECAUSE I GOT BORED HALFWAY THROUGH WRITING THIS SINCE MY MEDS WORE OFF: brush your dog's fucking teeth. Hetalia actor AU(yes, inspired by the BNHA actor AU specifically)

• Alfred and Matthew are irl twins that got their start in acting as children. They both at first tried out for the roles of Northern and Southern Italy but they were seen to be better fits for the North American brothers. That and their Italian accents were not the best. No one cared they have an Italian uncle. Literally no one asked them. In fact their bad accents prompted the casting list to go more international faster than it already was. They both look exactly the same without the addition of the cowlick or ahoge so it's pretty good Matthew grew his hair out for this role. Otherwise they'd constantly have to correct everyone like they used to in the other shows they worked on.

• Arthur thought he was auditioning for the newest James Bond movie but turns out his agent tricked him. Arthur ended up liking it however and stayed. He managed to drag his son Peter in to audition for the role of Sealand, as Peter wanted to get into acting in something bigger than school plays. His character may be annoyed by his son's character but irl you can catch Arthur being a loving and caring father. Peter however is embarrassed to be around him, just as many kids are to their parents. Arthur is much more relaxed than the character he plays. And Peter isn't as annoying as Sealand is. He's actually always on his phone or doing homework when not working.

• Francis did not know a lick of English when he auditioned. He went into this blind. And yet he got the part after staying up 3 nights in a row beforehand listening to the Google translated script(from English to French and back) to memorize it that way. Presently he may be on par with a 10 year old's basic knowledge of English but that doesn't stop him from frequently speaking only French on set when no one else but Yao and half the writing staff understand him. He even only does his interviews in French because WHY put effort into a second language??? Y'all he's the epitome of lazy.

• Ivan is the prankster on set. He teams up with Kiku, Basch, Peter, Alfred, and Mathias very frequently to prank everyone else in the cast. He also purposefully messes up his lines when his character is being creepy. He'll say the weirdest shit while in the most intense scenes. During the magical pipe of pain scene, Ivan caused almost 20 retakes because he kept making bad innuendos causing everyone to lose their shit. He's the exact opposite of his character.

• Roderich really is a former pianist and former child actor coming back to acting because gosh he missed it. He's actually SUPER irresponsible with his money despite the character he plays. The first paycheck from the show he spent on a bulk of 200 rubber ducks just so he could set them up in his bedroom on his and his wife's 3rd anniversary. All for a chuckle. And to get a use out of them. That was an impulse buy. And he does not regret it. The scenes where Austria is playing the piano really is Roderich playing it, and he asks there to be almost no sound editing to those takes whatsoever. He's extremely forgetful so the staff has resorted to sticky noting his lines into the scene then green screening it out later. He's a good actor but someone help this man's poor memory.

• Timo basically already was Finland before ever auditioning. His friends already called him the dad of their group to begin with. He's a sweet guy and he bakes cookies and other sweets the night before just to bring them in to the set the next morning for not just the cast but the entire film crew too; he has two ovens for this and really knows how to speed bake. He just wants to make sure everyone's morning is as good as his own is. He's just a darling. Everyone is glad Berwald recommended Timo for the part of Finland and even happier that he got the role.

• Gilbert is a brunette with brown eyes irl so no one recognizes him without the white wig or red contacts. Fans meet him and are like "You remind me of that Prussia guy from Hetalia! You'd make a great cosplay of him!" and he just accepts it every time by this point. Every convention he goes to, every interview he does he is in costume. At least he isn't constantly bombarded by fans like Ludwig or Ivan are.

• Feliciano is a very mature and professional guy despite the bubbly and goofy character he plays. Feliciano does have his relaxed and fun moments though, learning to let go from his time acting as North Italy. He's a really pleasant guy to be friends with but it can be a little tough to break through his shell. He's kind of shy, different from North Italy's friendly nature.

• Lovino is a nice guy. He's kind but not super kind, but also not an asshole. He does a lot a Instagram live streams after episode recordings, mostly of him hanging out with the other actors. He and Feliciano get along well but Lovino tends to hang around Ludwig more because he feels so bad for how he screams at him and insults him on set, even though its purely for the show. He apologizes immediately after filming is finished.

• Ludwig is pretty orderly but he isn't exactly mature. He's the one to recite bad jokes and puns to everyone, his favorites being dad jokes. No one likes this. At all. He's a fun loving guy that everyone can get along with. He has fun acting. He's very grateful Gilbert pointed him in the direction of the auditions.

• Kiku is glad his very first acting gig will probably be one of his most successful and popular. He's freshly graduated from college and completely chaotic. He's got a degree in business he's never going to use. He collects weird Japanese products as well as gifting them to his coworkers every Christmas without fail. He once walked into Ivan's trailer and tossed a whole bag of hard boiled eggs at him and ran off. The eggs all had individual faces drawn onto them. Ivan still does not know why he did this and he's honestly too afraid to ask at this point.

• The actor for Chibitalia also plays chibi Romano! His name is Emilio and he's Lovino's nephew. Emilio is a sweetie that pretty much stole everyone's heart. He loves working on the show, especially when he gets to curse and not get in trouble for it.

• Holy Roman Empire's actor was originally a kid who had no prior experience in acting neither had he really been near a camera before. He ended up freezing up his first day. He was recasted by Ludwig's son Otto, especially since Otto had been around a film set dozens of times before. The dad jokes really escalated once Otto was brought on set....

This is all I'm going to do for now without the post getting too long. Plus I'm tired and have a headache. But I really wanted to get this out lol I spent 3 hours figuring this all out with a really bad glaucoma headache please at least appreciate this for my eyes' sake lmao

I'm not very good at drawing horror and blood but I recently have been getting into OFF lately so I figured I'd try to draw batter to pratice lighting and shadows

I also made my own au where batter and hugo switch places but I doubt anyone would like it or even read it heck I couldn't even get a single like on any of my posts

But here I go anyway :

So common belief that the world of OFF isnt real and that its all happening inside Hugo's head because hugo is in a comma and that the batter resembles the father and the queen resembles the mother

And that the guardians are the boy's immune system and organs that are intolerant to the drug liquid plastic that is being experimented on hugo

The mother was always a working woman and never gave hugo attention while the dad was a straight forward and loving man (I also have a personal theory that he's religious)

The mother wants hugo to live but the father wants to let the boy die because he's tired of seeing his own child in pain everyday

Ok now that I have that out of the way here's my au:

In this au its the father that ends up in a comma and hugo is the one who tries to save him from dying

Backstory to how the dad ended up in a comma:

Hugo in this au is healthy and lives a normal life the father was once a baseball player (as a hobby) so hugo got inspired by his dad and started to take baseball classes at his school

One day the dad was dropping hugo off for baseball practice and while waving goodbye while slowly moving out of the parking lot a reckless older student who wasn't looking quickly backs up his truck hitting the father and sending him into a comma

Ok now for the characters:

We enter the game as hugo and we are greeted by the judge and we start our journey of "purifying" the world just like batter

The enemies represent different family members who dislike or or even hate the father and the father's phobias or fears as well as microbes or poisons in the father's system

Then we have other characters like pets,neighbors,friends who are good guys or people who side with hugo in the this au

Also the puzzles would changed in this au

Hugo is a child and the father would probably play alot with hugo and his games since the mother was always busy ,so instead of floating boxes we'd get more complicated versions of kids puzzles like connect the dots or fill in the shapes etc.

Now for who each character represents and then I'll move on to what the goal of the game is or what Hugo's mission is:

Hugo= he represents the son in real life but he also resembles a new antibiotic that's being experimented on the father

The judge = in real he's the family house cat named milk ingame he's a guide but I have my own head canon

so alot of people tend to draw batter with his eyes closed some draw 4 eyes some draw no eyes at all

I like to think that the father irl has bad eye sight or sensitive eyes so he wears special glasses but will not wear any glasses when at home because he doesn't like to so he will walk around with his eyes closed

So milk will guide him throughout the house by purring or meowing at him

As for the smile the judge has on his face hugo likes the movie Alice in wonderland over and over so the image of the Cheshire cat would be embedded in the dad's memory which is why the judge appears that way

He views the judge as someone who is helpful

The queen = the queen is his wife however they start to have alot of problems and arguments before the father fell in a comma

And the relatives try to convince her to turn off the life support and move on with life

Dedan= irl he's the father's brother in law with a snappy attitude and he hates the father alot and even objected in thier wedding day he will do anything to hurt the father or cause trouble

The father sees his brother in law nothing more than a all bark no bite a big mouth

Japhet= in real life is the lady that lives next door (yes I KNOW japhet is male but he's based off if her in the father's head)

She's is very controlling person who enjoys gossip and can't mind her own business always sticking her nose where she can as well as pushing everyone around she does everything she can to get attention and impress people and she's flirted with the father mutiple times but she's ignored her every time

She has very loud and noisy birds and has killed thier other family cat Venice saying that she did it as self defense (Venice is Valerie basically)

The father views her as a parasite

Enoch= he resembles another dad that takes his kid to baseball practice but is in bad terms with the mother and will constantly pick on hugo for fun

He assumes if the father approaches him its because his wife told him to do so

and will constantly say that his child and wife are happy ,living a life with no problems thinking that he's got life figured out

Even though its clear that his son isn't enjoying baseball at all, is quite over wieght as well as his wife ignores him all the time not to mention he's constantly eating meaning that he has some sort of food addiction it seems he sees no irony in his life at all

The father sees him as an irresponsible over wieght person who's always lying to himself and to blind to see the truth thinking that his life is ok when it's clearly not

Zacharie = irl he's the father's best friend since middle school and they've known each other for years he was the best man at the wedding he's bisexual and in a relationship with a girl named sweetie (please don't hate me batterie shippers QWQ!) He used to crush on the father and even confessed to him on the wedding day he was heartbroken but accepted that the relationship was never gonna happen and was even mad at his best friend but realized it was wrong of him to feel that way

He eventually moves on

He likes to bring and buy alot stuff and show them to his best pal later somegimes illegal stuff (he even brought weed over one time oh boy) he's like an uncle to hugo and is always happy to help and defend his best friend no matter what

He views him as a brother and family member aswell as a very optimistic chill dude and will jokingly refer to him as "the merchant"

Sugar: irl she's zacharie's gf (before her he had 2 toxic exes and she helped him out of those toxic relationships) she and the father don't really talk all that much so he knows little to absolutely nothing about her aside from the fact that she likes to talk funny sometimes and is really into dolls and aliens and a slight addiction to eating pixie straws (straws filled with powered candy or sugar)

He views her as a silent person nothing much

The elsens= they are the people that the father meets/sees/interacts with everyday/every once in a while but don't have much of a connection with (you know like a co worker you have small talk with or barely ever see)

Now for the plot :

After the father enters a comma the son starts to go from school to the hospital (they're very close to each other and you can say hugo is 5-7 years old and ) and visits his dad everyday and calls out to him hoping it'd wake him up

The mother scolds him for running off without super vision and that his dad won't wake up if he keeps calling him that whatever he does is useless that his father will remain to be a lifeless bag of meat on a bed

Hugo doesn't give up ignoring his mother's words

She realizes that hugo has an obsession with his unconscious father that is affecting his studies along with his social life

Zacharie doesn't make this any better because he offers to pick up hugo after school to prevent him from getting abducted or lost along with his jokes all the time

She slowly starts to Contemplate turning off the life support machine wondering if it would fix everything

Hugo hasn't been paying attention in class and thier marriage has been having a issues lately her family never liked or accepted him she sees zacharie and others as annoying and problems bringers and maybe they'd have less expenses if hugo didn't have to go to baseball pratice every day not to mention he'd less likely get hurt if he stopped playing

Everyone else started to convince her to turn off life support they discuss this next to the unconscious father

She prevents zacharie from seeing hugo and locks out any other connections the fatehr has

finally she becomes convinced however there's 1 barrier preventing her from doing that.....Hugo

The only person who truly gives hugo attention and love is his father without his father he'd feel lost and scared his mother is always working and doesn't give him much attention

Everyone tells him to give up on his dad and move on but hugo stands his ground

Alot of the arguments and conversations happen in the hospital room next to the father so he hears everything in his comma which leads to the creation of the world of OFF in his head

Therefore we play as hugo through out the game (dressed in a baseball outfit) solving puzzles and fighting enemies "purifying" the world

Not much changes the boss battles the add ons etc. Will remain the same in this au

Maybe there will be more rubber duck /duck/ bird themed stuff in this au aside from the pedalos (ex:move the boxes to make them look like a duck idk lol)

However the final boss will change

Canonly batter is stopped by the judge but in this au the judge sides with hugo because its the queen (the mother) who is trying to turn the switch off and hugo is trying to prevent that

So instead of the judge stopping hugo

Hugo will meet the queen, she will tell him to halt and not bother going any further that her intentions will not change hugo will begin to tell her off everything she's done wrong she will respond saying that she's doing it for thier sake (Hugo's and her's) but hugo calls her out and tells her its not true and she loses her patience with him leading to a boss fight if hugo wins then she will refer to him as "my little sweetheart" and fade into dust

"The room" will also change instead of hugo it'll be his dad (the batter)chained to a wall (basically a prisoner in his own mind) hugo will take 1 step forward activating a trap causing him to plummet down a tube and fall unconscious for a few minutes

When he wakes up he sees the queen and all the guardians standing before him the queen states that he can give up or die trying then she speaks to the puppeteer (the player) the you are given 2 options

1.aide with the queen

2.side with hugo

If you side with the queen you will have the guardians ok your side then Hugo's appearance will change as well he will appear to have a large head with a huge gaping mouth a baby rattle and apron and speech bubbles that say "wah wah" "whine whine" (stating that his mother sees him as a cry baby)

If you defeat hugo then the switch is immediately turned off and it gives 1 out of the 2 bad endings this ending is called "check mate" as a reference to a queen from chess

If you side with hugo then you will be defeated but you won't get a game over yet instead the queen will give you 1 last chance

Then you are given 3 options

1."surrender" 2."gasp for help" 3."cry"

If you choose surrender then you will get the 2nd bad ending in which in life support is turned off the father dies hugo becomes lonely with his mother busy all the time (and not allowing him out side the house and not trusting people) which leads to hugo growing up cold,plain and unloving

At some point there's a scene where adult hugo stares at his old mother laying on the kitchen floor in pain for a few minutes instead of helping her immediately indicating that he doesn't care

If you choose "gasp for help" then you will get the good ending "aye batta batta,strike!" In which hugo will call for help (while in deep pain from the fight) after a few calls judge,zacharie,sugar and a few elsens will come to the rescue and revive you fighting by your side allowing you to defeat the queen and guardians

Everything slowly starts to go back and the father wakes up from his comma everyone in the room stares in shock but hugo had the biggest smile on his face while standing next to his dad's bed "did...I miss something?"

"...daddy *breaks into tears*"

The 3rd ending called "better late than never" is triggered when you choose "cry"

Hugo will cry very loudly

The mother changes her mind and doesn't turn off life support but hugo stops visiting his dad and similar to the 2nd bad ending hugo grows up to be cold and unloving 13-16 years later hugo visits his father again and he finally wakes up from his comma and is discharged from the hospital after 1 year of rehabilitation therapy

By now the mother had remarried and the father missed his son's childhood so now he has to relive his life

However hugo meets a girl who is a complete opposite to him at work and church (rainbow hair,optimistic,enjoys music of various kinds,loves cute things,baking,jokes,and artist etc.) And is forced to work with her as well as she tries to get Hugo's attention so he asks his father for advice on how to get rid of this woman which leads to alot stuff going on and hugo allowing how to love and live life leading him to falling in love with the girl and becoming a new man

(This is personally my favorite ending lol and I MIGHT write fanfic of it on wattpad or here idk tbh )

hmmmmmmmm surprisingly?? its actually been a hot minute i think i was drawing n listening 2 that one song someone sent that they said reminded them of garden of light

brown? idk how brown it is in relation to other browns fjghj its not super dark 2 to point where its hard to distinguish pupil from iris but its definitely more on the darker side of the brown-eye spectrum

tbh im not a huge movie person but i spook easy so happy endings !

i feel like a lot of people might b surprised at this but I actually draw ! (fghj apart from that though... i...rly hav nothing fghj I read and listen 2 music and binge yt videos but honestly those r so generic that I dont rly count them)

yes I have a cat named daisy she’s soft and grey and shes the most important thing in the world to me I’d take a bullet for my cat

I used to play volleyball on the school team (which admittedly sucked but oh well,,) I also like badminton a bit but I’m generally..not a very sporty gal

5′5? 5′4 and a half????? who knows 

14) Favourite subject at school?

hmmm probably psychology or biology! I would say art cause it was an easy 100% but the art curriculum just. wasn’t challenging and i didn’t particularly like any of the work that came out of my art classes so :1 

15) Dream job?

I’d absolutely love to have any goals but im currently just goin w the flow like a rubber duck with no real career aspirations and only a few vague topics that hold my interest  :-) I’ll maybe figure it out?????
