this book is great because I've really needed something just batshit full of pathos. everything I've read recently is so subtle and normal and dulled and realistic. and it all pales in comparison to the richness and vibrancy of these people with their monstrous passions and their hideous miseries. it really hits the spot 👍

BIG FEELINGS!!!!!#also the heathcliff abd wwx parallels. not many but I cannot help but point and say HATED IMPOVERISHED CHILD INTERLOPER #BLAMED FOR FAMILY DISCORD AND PUNISHED FOR CLASSIST BIASES #except for heathcliff it was much worse. like wwx had a whole community of ppl who loved him #they were both their foster father's favorite with a contentious relationship w his sone #but heathcliff literally hated and was trying to destroy the other guy #and wwxs relationship w jc was a lot more complicated. and yanli REALLY loved him #OH BUT BOTH SHE AND CATHY MARRIED THE RICH GUY HUH #cathy abandoned him it seems...yanli still loved wwx tho she still came to save him 🥺#and heathcliff is SO isolated not just physically at WH but people hate and distrust him on sight #wwx could theoretically leave. healthcliff faces racism literally everywhere. even if he went to the city presumably
