My First Impressions of NCT Before I Became an NCTzen (Part 1: '94-96' Liners)

Taeil: For some reason I thought he was the leader. I didn't think he was the oldest, probably thought he was in the middle. I thought he was very serious, definitely thought he was a vocalist. You know what...He definitely gave me Jongho from Ateez vibes without the cuteness. Could definitely knock a bitch out for some reason. He definitely gave off that vibe. Something just told me he could.

Johnny: I did NOT think he was the second oldest member of the group. Hell, I didn't even think he was in the hyung line...He gave me major goofy vibes, very sexy though. Idk he just has a super goofy look. Before I got into NCT, I knew of him but I couldn't tell you what I thought his role in the group was.

Taeyong: I had no idea why his face was everywhere. At the time, I didn't even know there was a center role in K-Pop groups (or in any group) so I was just like damn...SM got a favorite! Rightfully so because I thought he was so cute and unique looking. In terms of the vibes that he gave off...I couldn't tell you what they were. He was so hard to read, I remember just thinking he was cool as fuck. Hear me out...Remember when Justin Bieber went through that Bizzle phase? That's what he reminds me of. Not the lightskin delinquent part, but rather the swagger and the fact that mf was EVERY. WHERE. Unreadable but was fine as hell, the hot topic, in every hit song, and a lot of tattoos. But Taeyong style. With a unique sense of fashion. I didn't think he was the leader.

Yuta: Super quiet yet sexy. I didn't think there would be much to him in terms of humor for some reason (I was proven wrong as HELL). Tell me why I thought this mf was a rapper? He doesn't have that niggaboo shit going on so I'm not sure why I thought that? I guess because he just gave off a certain edgy vibe, I thought SM would assign him as a rapper? I'm not sure tbh. I'm glad he wasn't chosen as a rapper, though, because he has a gorgeous voice like wtf...Also this is so funny but he gave me the impression that he wouldn't hurt a fly. Like, as in he would never fight someone but...LMFAO we know damn well he would beat the dog shit out of somebody.

Kun: I first saw Kun in one of those little skit thingies where he was with Jeno,Jaemin, Haechan, Renjun and I forgot who else, and they had to find out who killed somebody. You know what I'm talking about? Kun's role in that was a police officer (or security guard) and he looked FINE AS SHIT. He had long hair at that time. Anyway, I thought he was so damn sexy and smart. He gave off major serious, don't fuck with me, vibes. Like if he was my coworker, we would only speak from 9am-5pm. Not before or after. He didn't strike me as the kind of person that would go up to a coworker in public and say hi to them, but would politely smile if the coworker noticed him first and greeted him. Would hate California, but would prefer New York. IDK that's the vibe I had gotten from him.

Doyoung: I thought he was a nerd. I would have guessed he was a vocalist 100%. Definitely gave me the vibes of someone that sang in his church's choir when he was growing up. He definitely took it very seriously and was a snitch. He gave me the impression that he was sweet. Idk he just has the face of someone that is a major sweetheart. Very adorable cheeks.

Ten: Ten is an interesting individual because he was the member I saw the most aside from Taeyong. I remember thinking he took dancing very seriously and wasn't here for the nonsense. He seemed very likable but to himself. Like the type of person that everyone in school knows, but he only knows the people he associates with. I couldn't tell you if he was a singer or rapper in the group, but obviously I knew he was a dancer. I think there was a time I assumed he was the leader. I remember being surprised that he's younger than Johnny.

Neo kitchen! How cute! Ok here are some thoughts about the setting.

I know Taeil and Kun are good chefs so they're probably among the higher ranking chefs at Neo Kitchen :3 Maybe Taeyong too. OH Doyoung and Taeyong are probably rivals (seeing as how they bicker hehe). It can be an intense rivalry or it can be very jokey jokey depending on how the AU goes.

I can't decide if Jaemin would be a senior chef or a junior chef. He's a good cook but he belongs with the 00z :P Otherwise, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Yangyang, and Chenle could be junior chefs :3 Well, some of them could be waiters, we can't have too many cooks in the kitchen (literally). And 00 line + Chenle would DEFINITELY all be munching on the popcorn whenever there's drama going on 🍿 Winwin, Mark, and Jisung are not big on cooking and kind of clumsy so maybe they're assistants? I feel like Ten and Jungwoo would be very charismatic waiters 🥰

Hendery is a NERVOUS WRECK as a waiter so he definitely cannot be seen in public lmfao. I guess he'll be a junior chef. But he can't take his emotional support Xiaojun with him, I think Xiaojun would have fun as a waiter :3

A scene crossed my mind in which Doyoung puts both of his hands on Winwin's shoulders and goes "Winwin...I am asking you once again...please pass me the sugar and not the salt 😭" Doyoung would be so stressed and Sicheng's technically not helping him at all. But maybe sometimes Doyoung looks over and sees Winwin happily decorating a cake or humming to himself as he arranges the food on the dish and that helps him relax a little 🥲🥲 (BUT ALSO Dom chef Doyoung spanking sub clumsy boi Winwin after the restaurant's closed at night also helps Doyoung relax 😏😏 punishment for knocking over the sauce that took an hour to prepare 😌 yes, I am not letting go of that lmao)

Jaehyun seems like he'd be a promising chef, a rising star in the world of fine dining. Jaehyun would be very protective of Winwin, particularly when Doyoung gets grumpy at him 🥰

(I'll be honest, Jaehyun/Winwin remains one of my top OTPs and at the back of my mind there's a possibility that Jaewin would get together 😆 Chef Jaehyun and assistant Winwin are even canon! (Orange-lemon cross, something that they still reference today haha). I think Jaehyun finds Winwin's optimism and enthusiasm so cute and Winwin finds Jaehyun's diligence and talent so admirable. That can be romantic or platonic, but I think they'd be close in either situation! OK I'm done the Jaewin interruption lol)

I can't decide if Johnny's a chef, but he's definitely someone that everyone respects because he's chill. I think Johnny would be the one to calm Doyoung down when he's very stressed. Maybe take him out back to get a breath of fresh air 🥲 Johnny's cool like that. I also think Johnny would tease Doyoung a bit about his crush on Winwin if he was being very awkward about it 😆 but he'd also be so encouraging to Doyoung! Tell him to go for it and not be embarrassed about his feelings!

johnny... sharing a book: johnny pegs me as someone who's super patient! maybe he's not bc... parasocial relationships LOL but in his interactions with everyone else, like that one jcc where mark doesn't want frozen yogurt and he was so nice abt it! but similarly to renjun, its nice to share something in bed but also both be consuming the same content yknow? he also seems to me like the type of guy who, likes to finish something before moving on to the next big thing WHICH means.... you spending about 5 months going through the entire percy jackson series PFTT. but its SOO GOOD and you both get so into it and after you finish the first two books you immediately both skip lectures or work the next day just to watch the movies and you both lose your minds at how bad they are TT. but yes its such a nice time to unwind! he loves having you lay between his legs, head on his collarbone as his arms circle around your torso to lay the book on your hipbone. he always waits for you to finish before he turns the page ofc! he also bought a little reading light that can be clipped on the the binding of the outside of the book and illuminate the pages in case reading went on a lot longer than expected. the bookmark that holds your place in the story was a polaroid picture of you sleeping HOWEVER it got replaced to a picture of you looking thru a glass of wine and it makes your face look all warped and funny lol. johnny always smiles when he sees it so its a good way to begin reading time hehe. kinda obvious but his body heat + his room + the smell of his lingering cologne on his sheets is chefs kiss, extra points if the apartment still smells like coffee from this morning OR the bottle of red wine he opened that sits on the nightstand </3

taeyong... customizing clothes together: GODDDD ya'll would be the most well dressed couple ever dude. yong is so creative, and i sense that he would want his partner to share his same taste at least when it comes to clothes and art! this isn't something you both do often bc... life lol but it started when you were cleaning out your shared closet. both sprawled on the floor, as you begin complaining about how you've both found pieces of clothing that you felt guilty about throwing away. then! yong suggests going to the craft/vintage store to see if theres any way to up-cycle what you've found. so thats how you spend the summer weekend. sat on the plush fuchsia rug in your living room, surrounded by denim, fabric squares, 80s brooches, lace, ribbon, etc etc as you spend the humid and sticky afternoon binging nana while you both sit in creative/comfortable silence, gluing and pining and sewing things to various articles of clothing. its SO cozy, funk music plays from the mini speaker you guys co-own and at the end of the task, you give each other a private fashion show styling your new clothes! he adores watching you pretend to model and eggs you on sm "y/n you need to consider doing this for real, everything looks good on you its not fair," this day is something that you both remember for a while. there were shared childhood stories, insecurities, dreams and you both were so much more vulnerable because there was something to distract yourselves with. the night ends in an absolute destruction of your living room floor, but accompanied with a cuddle session in his bed, the sounds from the ceiling fan and his heart beat almost make you sleepy, almost missing his whispered compliments and soft neck kisses.

yuta... hair: ok i know this is super vague but as a fellow scorpio who loves doing things to their hair, theres nothing more i want in life than someone to be able to do those things with! like ugh late night hair salon time with yuta, yup. this goes along so well with trust as well. i mean he's letting you cut, dye and style his hair and vice versa. i feel like he'd be with someone who's more edgy and this would be such a raw moment for you as a couple LIKE you're changing each other's appearances and its a time of patience. listening is extremely important as well and whenever you go through a new hair phase, sitting down at the sink and soaking up what the other has to say and practically baring their souls out while the bleach is very much stinging the top of his scalp is really fascinating LMAO, needless to say you guys aren't the typical couple, but it works. the amount of understanding and empathy you've both adopted for one another is lovely! and not to mention is super cute when yuta crinkles his nose, his teeth peeking out just a bit from the opening of his lips, because he absolutely needed a blonde wolf cut and hair is very much getting all over his face. in moments like this he doesn't think he would trade your adorable and super hot according to him concentration face. ALSOOO angsy, hot, jrock inspired couple photos are a must and yes, everyone on campus is jealous.

doyoung... driving: CORNYY BOOO yes ik, but guys? him driving, in that domestic ass button up and black thick rimmed glasses. he needs to be in jail bc he absolutely would be that bf to throw rocks at your window even though, yes you live together and yes its an apartment complex but, he wants you to feel that super giddy like, puppy bunny love again and he almost brought a boombox to play to play head over heels by tears for fears but... too much according to jaehyun lol. so anyways he loves late night drives with you. or any drives really! his favorites are a combination of picking you up late night from work and getting to hear all the drama whilst you guys eay in-n-out in the parking lot. and listen, im not trying to push the doyoung medical student agenda but... i 100% am and his reasoning for these late nights is because he's soooo busy! he feels guilty he doesn't take you out to nicer places and you always have to reassure him that anywhere he goes with you, is automatically a win in your books. its moments like these where he really grasps how lucky he is. oh wow.... you really do love him and it FREAKS him out in the best way. every night always ends sappy bc he's so GROSS geez. he's such a romantic in a way you would never expect. he's not cheesy or arrogant about loving you, and he never considers it something he has to do either. he just fully, truly and honestly wants to worship the ground you walk on. DON'T even get me started on drive-in movies omg. basically his cherry red car is your safe space lol </3

jaehyun... record swapping: tha music man muahaha. my heart tells me you both met in a vintage record store AHH, he saw you and his heart physically ached like when you see a pretty person in public, yeah but x 100 like he got the wind knocked out of him and he fucking drops, the stack of chet baker records he had on hand and his ears look like red bell peppers and he wants to crawl away until you rush over not like run but brisk walking? lol as you help him pick up all the vinyls he dropped.you noticed in between the pile of 50s music he had a limited edition vinyl of on of your favorite bands and that had you whipping your head up and noticing how soft he looked all flushed and dimples peaking out from the thin line on his lips. definition of he fell first but you fell harder ESPECIALLY on ya'll's second/third date. he invited you over to his house and requested you to bring your best albums. AND GODDDD the date was... truly when you fell harder for him. you spent the night swapping albums aka baring your souls and sitting on his kitchen counter as he paces back and forth in front of you as he goes on a tangent about his favorite artist. its like the world slows down and you both leave that date with a new record from the other and a notion that you were definitely falling in love with each other

jungwoo... bubble baths: GAAHHH TT. tell me, that jungwoo wouldn't adore relaxing with a full on bubble bath with you. and i'm talking like bubblegum flavored soap, bath bombs, dried flowers, candles, mood lighting???? its too good. after the first couple of times you've done it, he learns your habits and favorite smells as well as the right way to position you in the tub bc he takes up sm of it LOL. and if you're both tall... you make it work! hehe. but DUDE once he learns how to juggle this intimate activity LMFAO he buys stuff specifically for your sunday reset bubble baths OMG, like that board that stands across the tub just so he can set his laptop on it. yes its just bc he wants to watch disney movies and real house wives while unwinding haha. he's so sweet though, being all pretty with his skin a little glowy because of the steam coming from the water, his eyebrows brush up from when he swiped water on his eyes and his eyes twinkling once he stacks a bunch of bubbles on your head in a makeshift crown. he likes to give u bubbly shoulder kisses BOOOOOOO yes im jealous bc he's perfect and OFC he picks out the perfect pjs and warms them up in the dryer and sits you on the bathroom counter just so he can do your skincare for you </3

You were holding Mark’s hands tightly, talking happily about anything and everything. 

That was why you loved Mark; he made you feel so comfortable, you could talk to him for hours and never get tired. He’s someone who you would need in a friend group to make everything less awkward. 

“And so, Yeri fell and we all laughed!” you told him, laughing at the old memory. 

You used to work as a choreographer for Red Velvet, but after a while, you decided to stop since it was affecting your studies a lot. While working with SM, you met the boys, and that was how you met the rest of NCT. 

When you didn’t get a response from Mark, you turned to look at Mark, only to find him frozen, staring ahead. 

“Mark?” you call, turning to see what he was staring at. Your eyes widened when you saw Jaehyun and Doyoung crossing the traffic light. “Oh, fuck.”

“Shit,” your boyfriend cursed, “we need to go,” he tells you, tightening his grip on your hand. 

The both of you speed walk to the opposite direction, hoping his members wouldn’t walk the same path as the both of you. Mark let out another string of curses when he saw his members walking behind them. 

Mark suddenly pulled you into a random store, trying to lose his friends. He pulled you deeper in the store, hiding the both of you from the main entrance. 

Your boyfriend was standing so close to you, the proximity making you nervous. You could feel your heart beating quickly as your cheeks flush red. Your hands going up to press them against Mark’s chest, pushing him back slightly. 

Mark didn’t notice, too distracted on finding his friends. When he noticed that he has lost his friends, he pulled away from a breathless you. His hands smoothly pull yours away from his chest. 

“I think they’re gone— wait, why are you so red?”

You were laying on the couch, playing with your phone while your boyfriend worked on some music that he has been writing for the past few days. 

“Mark~” you whine, your eyes were still stuck on your phone. You just wanted to disturb him for fun. 

Suddenly the door of the studio opened, Taeyong stumbling in as he stared at you and Mark in shock. 

“What are you doing here?” Taeyong asks you. 

“Uh…” you drag out, turning to look at your boyfriend for help. He looked at you then he quickly looked back at Taeyong. 

“I was making a new song for our Japan stage and had y/n help me with the choreography and all,” Mark explained, letting out an embarrassed chuckle. 

That was a lie. Well, not really. Mark did need help with the choreography, but at the same time he wanted you to be there to accompany him. Your presence calms him.

Taeyong remained silent as his eyes went back and forth between you and Mark.

“Should I leave?” you ask awkwardly, looking at your boyfriend then back at Taeyong. When you didn’t get a response, you stood up ready to grab your things.

The older man shook his head, “no, no, stay,” he tells you, walking further in, “I just didn’t know the both of you were so close,” he says while taking a seat next to your boyfriend. 

You let out a chuckle, “we’re close, you guys just didn’t know,”

After Taeyong found out how close Mark was with you, he wouldn’t stop inviting you to the dorm to hang out with the rest of the boys. 

“So, what movie are we watching today?” asks Taeyong as he took a seat next to Doyoung. 

You and Mark were seating next to each other. Mark was sitting at the very end while Jaehyun was sitting on the other side of you. Mark and you was sharing a blanket, your hands placed on your lap. 

“Parasite?” suggests Taeil. 

Loud whines filled the room, “we’ve all watched it, Taeil-ah,” whined Johnny. 

“Y/n, have you watched it?” asks Taeyong, turning to look at you. 

You shook your head. You were told it was pretty graphic and scary and you hated anything that has got to do with blood. 

And Mark knew that, so he would always avoid watching scary movies with you. 

“Should we watch it again? Since y/n hasn’t watched it?” suggests Taeyong, looking at the members for confirmation. The rest of the boys nod their head in agreement.

“Hyung,” your boyfriend voices out, “I don’t think—”

“No,” you quickly deny with a smile, “let’s watch it,”

Taeyong shrugs and plays the movie. 

Mark bit his lip.

A few minutes later, you felt your phone vibrate, you noticed it was Mark who has texted you. You turn to look at Jaehyun, making sure he wasn’t looking. You lowered the brightness of your phone before opening Mark’s text message. 

Markie Pooh: will you be okay?

You turn to look at Mark, but he was staring at the TV screen with a straight face. 

You bit back a smile as you typed a reply. 

You: yes, don’t worry abt me :) 

Mark quickly looked down at his phone to see your reply before keeping his phone away again. Your boyfriend let out a cough before shifting nearer to you until your shoulders were touching. 

You tried to hide your smile by looking down before looking back up, trying to keep a straight face. 

Mark had already watched the movie with the boys when it first came out. He knew when there was going to be a bloody scene. 

So, before the scene started, he had secretly reached for your hand under the blanket. 

You felt his fingers slowly reaching for yours, letting his fingers lace with yours. You tightly grip his hands, not wanting to let go. When you saw the bloody scene, your grip on your boyfriend’s hands tightened as he soothingly strokes the back of your hand with his thumb, hoping it would calm you. 

His fingers on yours distracted you from the graphic show that was playing. You were smiling like a crazy woman as Mark continued to stroke your hand with his thumb. 

“Are you… smiling?” asks Jaehyun as he turned to look at you weirdly. His question made everyone in the room to stare at you. 

Your eyes widen, shaking your head profusely. “No, I wasn’t,”

Johnny nodded, “you did, I saw you,”

At this point, Mark had already pulled his hand away from yours as he stares at you with amusement.

“I wasn’t smiling! It was a scary scene, why would I be smiling?” you ask them, crossing your arms defensively. 

Donghyuck lets out a sigh, “I think we all know y/n just loves horror,”

Taeil nodded, “yeah, she feeds of dead people,”

“Excuse me?!” you screech, throwing a pillow at Taeil, “what does that— no I don’t!”

The boys let out a roar of laughter, amused at how defensive you were acting.

You looked down at your phone, letting out a soft scowl before reaching under the blanket to pinch Mark’s thigh. 

Mark let out a quiet squeal as he pushed your hand away.

You were listening to Mark talk about his day. You couldn’t help but smile at how adorable he was; his pouty lips and chubby cheeks which you so desperately want to pinch. 

“Babe, are you listening?” Mark asks with a frown, noticing how you haven’t moved for the past few minutes. 

You nodded, “yes I am, baby,” you replied. 

Mark grins, “okay,” and he went back to talking about his best friend, Donghyuck. 

After hanging out with the boys for a couple of time, you and Donghyuck became close as well. Maybe because he was your boyfriend’s best friend, but you and him just got along so well that the both of you even started texting almost every day.

“So, what did you do today, babe?” asks Mark, snapping you out of your thoughts. 

“Huh? Oh, well I didn’t do anything today,” you tell him, “I cleaned my house a little bit then I took a nap,”

He puffs his cheeks out, “it’s a good thing you didn’t go out today, the air quality is really bad.”

He was always taking care of you; it always made your heart flutter. Mark was always looking out for you despite him being busy himself. Sometimes he would forget to take care of himself which always resulted in you lecturing him. 

Mark was in the middle of saying something when someone barged in his room, screaming. 

“MARK LEE!” you recognised it was Taeil’s voice. 

Mark quickly hid his phone, resting it on his chest. 

“Ah, Hyung, what are you doing here? What do you want?” you heard him ask.

You decided to mute your mic, just to be safe. 

“Why? Can’t I come in and talk to you?” asks Taeil. 

You suddenly heard a loud huff from Mark, as his phone fell off his chest and onto his white sheets. You assumed Taeil was laying on him. 

“Ah~ get out,” whined Mark, pushing the elder off him. 

You heard Taeil click his tongue. “who are you talking to? Your girlfriend?” he asks, “MARK HAS A GIRLFRIEND!” yell Taeil as you laugh out loud. 

Luckily your mic was on mute.

“I don’t have a girlfriend!” groans Mark as he stood up to push his member out of his room. He quickly locked the door before jumping back to bed, grabbing his phone. 

You unmute your mic. 

“Hi,” you giggle. 

He let out a huff, but letting out a shy smile, “Hi, so, where were we?”

Mark entered your house after taking off his shoes. He quietly took a seat at the very end couch. 

It was hard for the both of you to visit each other especially with the boys around, so you decided to have dates at your place instead. It was a good idea since no one could come over and interrupt the both of you. 

“Are you okay?” you ask Mark, noticing how he was so stiff. 

He nodded hesitantly, “it’s just…”

You waited for him to finish his sentence. 

“-awkward,” he finishes, looking up at you. 

You laugh at his words, “why?”

He shrugs, “I don’t know! I’ve never been to your place.”

Amused, you scoot closer to your boyfriend, wrapping your arms around his, leaning up to whisper in his ear. 

“There’s no one else here, Mark.”

You liked teasing him. You enjoyed how he would freeze up at your words. Or when his cheeks would turn a bright red colour. Or how his palms would turn a little sweaty. 

Pulling away from you, he quickly stood up, shaking his head. “No, no, that’s not what we’re going to do.” He tells you, stepping further away from you as you looked up at him in enjoyment. 

“We’re here to watch a movie,” he says, “that’s all.”

“We haven’t gone on a date in so long,” you say sadly, drawing hearts on his chest with your finger.

Mark put his phone down, “you wanna go on a date?”

You look up at him and nodded. 

When he made eye contact with you, he couldn’t help but press his lips on your forehead, “okay, but we can’t get caught,”

You nodded, wrapping your arms around your boyfriend’s neck, pulling yourself up so you could press kisses all over his face. Mark’s face scrunch at the ticklish feeling of your lips.

“tickles,” he giggles, pulling his face away from you. 

You pout when he pulls away from you. Your eyes slowly trail off his face to his hair; your fingers automatically going up to play with the black strands.

It was another movie night with the boys.

This time it was Donghyuck who had invited you over since promotions are over. 

You walked over to sit next to Mark, but you heard Donghyuck whine your name.

You let out a smile, sitting next to Haechan. The boy immediately grabs your arm, wrapping it around his shoulders before cuddling against you. 

Your met Mark’s gaze from across the room. You could tell he was pissed from the way he was nibbling on his lip and clenching his fist. He looked away, typing into his phone. 

You felt your phone vibrate, knowing it was from Mark. You didn’t bother checking the message because it was too risky, especially with Haechan cuddled to your side.

When you saw the mop of black hair laying on the pillow, you smile, closing the door quietly, your feet padding towards the bed. 

You pull the blanket down so you could lay next to your lover. You rest your arm on his waist as you snuggle closer to him. 

“Hi handsome,” you whisper, letting out a giggle as you stare at his pretty face. A frown replaced your smile when he didn’t reply to you. “Are you okay, baby?”

Mark could only pout. You pout along with him, the hand resting on his waist going up to push away the stray hair from his face. 

“Why are you pouting?” you ask quietly, pressing a kiss to his pouty lips. 

He pouts even more, “why did you sit with Haechan just now? Why didn’t you sit with me?”

You bit back a grin that was forming, “why? Were you jealous?”

He frowns and shook his head, “no! why would I be jealous of Haechan?”

“Really?” you ask, “if you’re not jealous then I’ll sit with Haechan from now on,” you tease, your fingers now caressing his exposed chest. 

He shrugs, “fine by me,”

You suddenly stood up, letting his arm fall on your lap, “actually, I’ll even go sleep with him,” you continued to pester Mark, enjoying the way it was bothering him. 

“Hey!” he whisper-shout, his hands wrapped on your wrist, stopping you from getting out of bed, “You can’t do that!”

You chuckle, laying back down with your boyfriend, “I won’t, dummy,” you flick his forehead.

He lets out a satisfied sigh, pulling you closer until his cheeks were resting on the top of your head. 

“You’re mine. Mine only.”

+Day 89 12:35AM

The both of you were on facetime again. 

Despite being only 30 minutes apart, the both of you couldn’t meet; not wanting anyone to catch the both of you. Furthermore, you felt bad, since Mark had just finished practice, it would be tiring for him to come over your place. 

There was a sudden knock on Mark’s door. Your boyfriend hastily hid his phone and you naturally mute your mic. 

“You busy?” you heard someone ask, from the voice, you assumed it was Taeyong. 

“No,” Mark reply. 

“Were you talking to someone? Is it y/n?” asks Taeyong. 

Mark pretend to grimace at your name, “why would I be calling y/n?”

Taeyong shrugs, “we all kinda assumed you had a crush on y/n,”

“Ew,” Mark shook his head, “I’ll never like y/n,” he says, “she’s not even my type.”

You knew he was just saying that to stop the suspicions of the both of you dating but what he said actually hurts. 

“Really?” Taeyong questions, “we were so sure you would like y/n,”

“I swear, Hyung. Y/N isn’t even my type, her personality isn’t even my type,” Mark tries to persuade the older boy. 

Now that actually really hurts. 

You weren’t sure if he was just lying or saying the truth. 

You couldn’t bare to listen another second of their conversation, so you immediately hung up. 

Markie: baby

Few seconds later, you received a call from your boyfriend. You answered the call, placing your phone on your ear. 

“I didn’t mean what I said,” he quickly says, “I just wanted to convince him that we weren’t dating,”

You were quiet for a while; you could hear Mark’s heavy breathing. You knew he was stressed with work and all, and you being sulky definitely wasn’t helping him. 

You let out a sigh, “I know.”

“Was it too much?” he asks you. 

“No,” you answer, “I just, I was just overthinking it and—”

“I get it,” he cuts you off, “don’t worry about it,”

“I’m sorry,” you blurted out, “I know you’re really busy and stressed over work and I’m just making you feel worse by overthinking and all—”

“Hey,” he cuts you off again, “Don’t worry, I shouldn’t have said that.”

You couldn’t help but feel sorry.

“Sorry,” you apologised again. 

“Apologize one more time and I’ll end the call,” he jokes. 

+Day 100 8:35PM

Mark hid his hands behind his back, holding the small box in his hand tightly as he faced you with a cheeky smile. 

“What do you have behind your back, Mark Lee?” you ask, squinting your eyes at him suspiciously. 

It was your 100th day together, and since the both of you couldn’t go out to celebrate, the both of you agreed to celebrate at your place instead. 

Since Mark couldn’t make it special for you, he decided to get you a present, just to make-up for all the secret dates. 

“It’s a present,” he answers cheekily. “I got you something to make up for all the secret dates,”

You pout at his words, “I’m okay with all the sneaking around, Mark,”

Your hands going up to his jaw, your thumb caressing his cheek softly. Mark loves your touches; he couldn’t help but lean into your touch. 

Tilting his head a little, he pressed a small kiss against your palm, one of his hands reaching to grab your hands in his. 

“I bought it because I think you’ll look good in it,” he tells you, pulling out the box from behind. 

You gasp when you saw the Tiffany & Co. box. 

“Mark,” you exclaim, looking up at him, “that’s expensive!”

“You haven’t even seen it yet!” he laughs. 

He slowly opens the box, showing off the elegant 18k diamond necklace. 

Your hands went up to your mouth, gasping. 

“Mark Lee,” you shook your head, “you’re fucking crazy,”

He smiles, satisfied with your reaction, “do you like it?”

“Are you crazy? It’s beautiful!” you tell him. “But all I bought for you were $15 chocolates but here you are— gifting me an 18k diamond necklace!”

Mark giggles, pulling out the necklace from it’s box. 

“Turn around,” he murmurs. You automatically turn around, pulling your hair to one side so he could easily put the necklace on you. 

He swiftly place the pretty necklace around your neck, pinning it. You turn around to face him. 

“Pretty?” you ask him, tilting your head a little. 

“Gorgeous,” he responds, a smirk playing on his lips.

Just as you were about to reply, you heard a knock on your door. Your eyebrows scrunch in confusion, who would come over at this timing?

Mark frowns, “did you invite someone?”

You shook your head, “No, stay here, I’ll go see who it is.”

You stood up, walking to your door, checking the peephole, finding out who is on the other side of the door. You let out a soft gasp when you saw Donghyuck standing behind the door. 

You quickly kick Mark’s shoes under the cabinet at the front door then running over to your boyfriend. 

“Who—”

You grabbed Mark’s arms, pulling him up. “Fuck, it’s Haechan,”

He let you pull him into your bedroom with furrowed eyebrows, “why is he here?”

You shake your head, pushing Mark into your walk-in wardrobe, “I have no idea. Stay here, I’ll try to distract him, okay?”

You didn’t even let him answer, already rushing out, making sure to close your bedroom door. 

When you opened the door, Haechan immediately walked in, whining on how you were taking forever to answer the door. 

It has been 15 minutes and Haechan still hasn’t left and Mark was growing tired and sweaty in your wardrobe.

Baby Mark: is he still there

You: yeah

Baby Mark: fuuuck

Baby Mark: tell him to leave

Baby Mark: it’s so hot in here :(

You: I’m trying!! He just won’t leave

You: are you okay in there

Baby Mark: no

You: fine just get out of the wardrobe and stay in my room

You let out a heavy sigh when Donghyuck finally left. Closing your eyes tightly, you let out another heavy breath. You could finally sit down and rest. 

Oh shit— Mark!

You ambled towards your bedroom, twisting it open, realising it wasn’t locked. 

This little shit. 

When you walked in your bedroom, you were met with your boyfriend laying on your bed, hugging one of your pillows, asleep. Your heart warmed at the sight, you felt bad making him wait for hours when it was your 100th day as a couple. 

Walking closer, you climbed in next to him. Your hands caressed his hair and his pretty face. 

“I’m sorry for making you wait for so long,” you whisper. 

You didn’t know what made you so emotional, but you couldn’t help but tear up. 

You really didn’t know why. Maybe because he had gone out of his way just to see you. And maybe because he had to wait for hours just for you and in the end both of you couldn’t celebrate the special day. 

“You’re the best boyfriend I could ever ask for—” you choked a sob, a hand going up to cover your mouth. 

Taking a deep breath, you continue, “You do so much for me and I’m always messing up.”

For once, you were thankful that your boyfriend was a heavy sleeper. 

“I love you, Mark,” you mumble, your eyes scanning his face, appreciating everything about him. “Remember that.”

After wiping your dried tears, you slide next to him, removing the pillow that was between you two. Snuggling right into his arms, your head resting on his chest while his cheek was pressed on the crown of your head. 

“I love you,” you whisper one last time before falling into a deep slumber. 

+Day 124 7:28PM

The dome was filled with loud voices, everyone was holding their green NCT lightsticks. You felt out of place, especially when you didn’t have any kind of lightstick or poster on you. 

You nervously took a seat on your assigned seat, waiting for your boyfriend to come out. 

NCT was holding a concert after a while and Taeyong had given you free tickets to support them. 

Mark had actually gotten hold of an extra ticket for you and was about to surprise you but found out that his members had already invited you. He was a little bummed out about it but shrugged it off. 

The light dimmed and the crowd started cheering. The girls around you started squealing in excitement. 

Soon, the boys started performing. When your boyfriend’s face was on the screen, you couldn’t help but grin at his cute face. 

The fans next to you would squeal and gush at how adorable your boyfriend is. You were proud that he was your boyfriend, sadly you couldn’t show him off. 

At the end of the concert, the boys lined up in the middle of the huge stage. They started thanking the fans for coming and supporting them. 

“But I think Mark is really happy today,” Jaehyun suddenly blurted out, turning to face Mark. 

The camera started zooming in to your boyfriend’s face. 

Mark’s eyes widen , confused, “what, why? Why?”

“Because his girlfriend is here!” Jaehyun screams into the mic as the boys let out a string of weird noises. 

Mark froze on the spot as everyone went crazy over the statement. 

“Wha—”

“Okay, we will end this concert here! Thank you everyone for coming!”

Before everyone was even ready to leave, you had already run to meet your boyfriend back stage. 

Fuck, did Jaehyun actually say that?

You’re met with the sweaty boys laughing in the dressing room. 

“What the fuck was that?” you ask breathlessly as you scan each of the boys facial expression. 

“Uh oh, his girlfriend is here,” joked Johnny, staring at you with amusement. 

Mark turned to stare at the boys, “you guys knew?!”

“You guys weren’t very discreet.”

You were already standing next to your boyfriend, “how did you guys know?”

“You really think we won’t see the both of you holding hands in a public place?” scoffs Doyoung. 

Taeyong shrugs, “Mark never brings girls to the recording room.”

Your face turned red at Taeyong’s comment as Mark groans at his words. 

“And you think I wouldn’t see you guys holding hands under the blanket? Jesus,” sighs Jaehyun, rolling his eyes. 

“Fuck you,” Mark replies while Jaehyun flashes the middle finger to his friend. 

“Also, you talk way too loud y/n,” Taeil says, Taeyong immediately agreeing with him. 

“Or maybe the walls are too thin?” Taeyong questions. 

“Oh my god,” you whisper, embarrassed. “So, you guys heard everything?”

“Wish we didn’t,” shrugs Johnny. 

Mark had quietly reached for your hand, a habit he had whenever he’s nervous. 

“Also, I knew Mark was at your place, that’s why I came over,” laughs Haechan. 

You had let go of Mark’s hands to stomp over to the boy, hitting his back. “Lee Donhyuck! Did you know how long he had to wait in my wardrobe?!”

Haechan rolls his eyes, “oh please, you let him out because he was sweating.”

You let out a loud gasp, “you knew that too?!”

“Which idiot would put their password as 0000?”

“You went through my phone?!” you raised your voice, hitting the boy on the back once more. 

With furrowed eyebrows you frown and let out a sigh, “now what? Everyone knows Mark has a girlfriend,”

“I checked Twitter,” Jungwoo says, “some weren’t very happy but there are many who are supportive,”

Your frown deepens. You knew this would happen. It would affect Mark’s career badly; that was the main reason the both of you kept your relationship a secret. 

You turn to look at your boyfriend who was looking incredibly stressed right now. 

“Don’t worry y/n,” assures Johnny, you turn to look at him. “Mark is one of the most experienced and hardworking people in SM, I’m sure they’ll let you both off,”

You had your arms crossed defensively, “are you okay with this, Mark?”

You were worried for your boyfriend. 

You knew how much being on stage meant to him. He would do anything to continue performing. 

“I…I think so?” he says after a minute of pure silence. 

You pout slightly at his words. 

“I just wanna rest right now, I’m tired.”

The boys quickly agree with the younger. Everyone started standing up, grabbing their bags, leaving the room. 

You stayed with your boyfriend, accompanying him.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” you ask him again. 

He kept letting out sad sighs and it was concerning you. 

“Honestly,” he started, “I don’t know,” he turns to look at you. 

The palm of your hands automatically going up to stroke his back, attempting to comfort him. 

“I just… I just wanna be with you right now,”

You lean closer to him. “Okay.”

“Whatever it is,” he says, “we will go through it together.”

The one who puts a little too much (but much appreciated) effort into a blind date.

Man is looking for a suit and Johnny, who set up said blind date, just stares at him like "dude, you're meeting at a Panera."

And Mark's just "but I need to impress them, this is like, first impression stuff"

Bless him he's freaking out so Johnny would just choose the outfit himself because he just knows Mark would freak out.

He was there maybe half an hour earlier than intended, so he would just awkwardly sit there until you arrived. But once you did, oh man, his jaw was on the floor (which he quickly fixed because manners).

"Hi there," you'd smile and wave. Right at that moment, Mark easily envisioned an entire life with you. "So do you want a bagel or something?"

"I'm Mark."

"I know," you'd laugh, "and I'm (Y/N)."

"I know," Mark would laugh awkwardly.

"So... breakfast?"

"Right! Yeah, yeah, bagels..."

Help him.

Huang Renjun

The one who felt really confident about it until he was actually at the date.

He had everything planned out, he spent the night looking for an outfit, he practiced a few conversation starters in the mirror, etc. etc.

But when he rolled up to the café you'd both decided to meet at, all of his nerves would hit him like a truck.

It'd start by him flattening out his shirt, oh god should he have ironed it?

Now he's tapping his foot, oh no when did he last clean his shoes oh god.

Now he's checking his hair with his phone camera, brushing his fingers through it and seeing if it sat right and oh god why is his hair sticking up like that-

"Renjun?"

"Yes?" OH GOD HIS VOICE CRACKED.

"Hi, I'm (Y/N), I think Doyoung set this up." Wow your smile is really nice. "So, let's go grab a seat and we can... oh god, hold on," you'd wave your hand in the air and take a deep breath. "Sorry, sorry, I promise I practiced."

"It's fine, I did too." Why did he say that out loud??

"Well, let's just relax and have fun then!"

"Sounds like a plan!"

Lee Jeno

The one who's been to this rodeo enough times. He's got this in the bag.

Oh god this is like his fifth blind date this month. That realization would settle on him as he sat down at the restaurant. Was he going to be single forever? What if this next date of his just doesn't work out?

Good god. Send help. As soon as his date sat in front of him it was back to the routine. What are your interests? What are you like? It felt like a job interview, almost.

Was it him? Was he the one that was just undateable? He was basically a textbook blind date! Hell, he even does his hair the same way for each date.

But when you returned with two waters in hand, he'd realize it right then and there. You'd place the waters down and pull out your notepad.

"What can I get you both?" You'd ask.

"The seared salmon please," the woman would say.

"A date," Jeno was too absent minded to realize what he said. You'd point at the woman, who's jaw was dropped and her expression offended, with your pen.

"You mean... you mean that date?"

"Can I get your number?"

"Um-"

Lee Haechan

Unlike the previous ones, he's confident and he knows it. There's no going back with him, take it as it comes or not at all.

He has the whole thing planned out. Although it's "blind date taboo" (apparently, he doesn't know why) to search up your date on Instagram prior, that was just the first leg of his blind date research.

The second leg consisted of quite literally everything else but that's a story for another time. He's busy getting ready for date night. This man is rubbing it into all of his single friends that he got a blind date and they didn't.

Actually, Taeil arranged it for him. He was sick of hearing Haechan complain about how he was 100% cuddle material but no one wanted to give him a shot. As soon as Taeil showed your profile Haechan was more than willing to give it a shot.

He's actually never blind dated anyone before. What's he supposed to do? It's basically a date except you've never seen the other person before, right? How the hell does that even work?

Well, he's already nearly at the café so there's no going back now. In his absent thoughts he didn't even realize he had cut someone off on the road and incidentally brake checked them, but that's something he'd deal with later.

He has a date to catch. As soon as he took his seat, he'd look at the time and realize that he was late. No, you were late.

Now realization would rush in.

Did Taeil... did he prank him? Haechan would be fuming now, he couldn't believe he'd fall for such a low trick.

"Hi! Are you Hyuck? Sorry, I'm sorry, I'm late!" You showed up shortly after him and sat across. "This jackass cut me off and brake checked on the way here." Haechan's eyes would widen.

"Uh... about that..."

Na Jaemin

Pretty chill about it, I would think. Not too concerned, not too confident. It felt more like a hangout to him. He had only incidentally agreed to the date because Jeno set it up for him.

He doesn't overthink things, and I feel like he'd come as he usually does. There's no point in overdoing a first impression if it's not who you really are, especially with the whole "we've never met each other part."

So here he was, jeans and a hoodie, sitting in a restaurant booth on his phone. Just a quick glance around and he already felt just slightly out of place, but, hey, it was just a blind date. He's probably going to get through it and forget about it later.

Long story short, he was wrong. Why did he feel so bad when he saw you walk in dressed rather nicely? He could see the effort clearly, and he grew self-conscious himself. But, bless your soul, you said nothing despite it.

Jaemin excused himself to the restroom, and you gave him a quick "yeah of course." As soon as he was in the bathroom, his phone was in his hand again.

"Jeno? Jeno, are you still at home? What do you mean why? I need you to bring me a change of clothes. Just do it for me, please?"

He was gone for twenty minutes, Jeno got caught up in traffic, he had to do his hair, good god, he bet that you must have stormed out by now.

But, no. You were still there, and mildly confused when he sat down. You were looking at him like he was an entirely different person, and hell he'd might as well be one.

"Let's start over, I'm Jaemin," he re-introduces himself. You only smiled in return.

"I'm (Y/N)!"

Osaki Shotaro

Actually really good at blind dating. Not that awkward, and if he was he was quick to dispel them.

He took the lead for the date, showing you around a small amusement part he used to frequent in his trainee days, and the more you walked around the more comfortable you got.

A true gentleman, really. He paid for your ticket and your lunch! How thoughtful! Everything was going perfect, nothing could go wrong!

He spoke too soon. Something went very wrong. The very wrong being the one of the rollercoasters breaking down while you were both on it, leaving both of you stranded at the top of a soon to be drop for nearly an hour.

The best part? It was windy as hell. But, with fearsome experiences comes forged bonds. To keep your mind off of possibly falling off a roller coaster, Shotaro would ask you random questions about your interests or your dislikes, it was obvious what he was doing, but it was very much appreciated.

When he dropped you off at home it was even better when you asked him when the second date would be, he had to hold his excitement in! He told you he'd text you and as soon as your door closed he was punching the air in excitement.

He told Yuta all about it, he had to, Yuta was the one who set the two up.

Jung Sungchan

The complete opposite of Shotaro. Awkward, he knows it, he hates it, help him help you. It's an endearing sort of awkward though, don't worry.

The only thing he got right was where you'd decided to meet, something that Jungwoo emphasized a lot. But that was it. He left his wallet at home, wore mismatched socks, and arrived an hour too early. Every conversation ended in awkward silence.

But... it was oddly very... entertaining? Or at least, that's how you put it at the end of the date. Sungchan was nearly 100% sure that you'd never speak to him again especially after knocking over his water, but... nah.

Actually, you asked him if he wanted to go to the arcade with you.

Now that was something he could do. Turns out, textbook dates aren't his forte, but trying to beat each other's scores on Pacman? Now that was flawless. With a flurry of colors around you and the sounds of pachinko machines and scoreboards around you, suddenly it wasn't as awkward before.

Turns out, he's a fucking boss at DDR, but so are you, being evenly matched you both had worked out the jitters from the awkward encounter from before.

Sungchan was in a good mood for the rest of the month, and when you invited him out to the arcade again? He's definitely going to marry you some day.

Zhong Chenle

Had the location right, but also didn't. How was he supposed to know that there were two Starbucks cafés in this area?

After putting so much effort into getting ready, clearing his schedules, and dropping Daegal off with Mark, he was a bit shocked that you hadn't arrived yet. It's been about half an hour since he got here.

He really thought you were the late one, until Kun angrily called him asking why he stood you up, something which he angrily argued back that you stood him up. Until Kun started going off that you'd been sitting at a starbucks on your own for the past hour and then Chenle freaked out.

When I tell you this kid ran. Skidding into the other Starbucks, he practically tumbled into the chair across from you. Wide eyes and clasped hands, you were momentarily confused until:

"Chenle?"

"Yup, (Y/N)?" He was out of breath. You slid him your coffee and he chugged it down. "Did you know there were two starbucks in this area?"

"Really? Oh! Were you there! I'm sorry, I called Kun-"

"It's fine! It's fine, I wouldn't have known otherwise," Chenle reassured you. "Anyway... how's a person as pretty as you friends with an old man like Kun?"

"Oh! He's my brother!"

"Haha!" Chenle doubled over in laughter, but your face remained dead serious. "Oh, shit, really?"

Lowkey kinda touched that Kun set him up on a blind date with his sister ngl.

Park Jisung

See, you thought it would be awkward and he thought it would be awkward, but it surprisingly wasn't? Actually, it felt like you knew him for a long time.

Maybe it was because of the location. Yes, this blind date was set up in a park. With clear skies and soft breezes, Jisung had set up the perfect picnic for a blind date, courtesy of Taeyong.

Once he saw you walking down the sidewalk, he was on his feet with his hand raised and his smile large. Immediately, you matched his energy and jogged up to him, holding a few snacks of your own to share.

As he has always said, the best way to get to know someone was by sharing your favorite foods! You both sat down and got to know each other, talking about the foods you'd both brought in, talking about the commute here, etc. etc.

All was going well until Jisung reached out in front of you and caught a tennis ball that was heading straight towards you.

"Nice catch!" You complimented him. Jisung smiled, then he noticed the large dog started bounding towards you both. Without even thinking, he chucked the ball away and the dog made a sharp turn away. Then they heard a shout. You both followed the noise and Jisung stood up again.

"Jaemin-hyung!" Jisung was surprised and a bit shocked. He looked at the dog, who was excitedly jumping around the person who was unlucky enough to have caught the ball. "And... Mark-hyung? And Jeno-hyung? And Haechan-hyung? And Renjun-hyung? And Chenle-hyung?!"

Jisung ended up introducing you to them.

Haechan was the one who screamed.

Overall a good time, a second date is close on the horizon!

spirited away: my dad took me to see this as a surprise when it had a limited release and was playing at the arthouse theater an hour away (the same one i go to today, albeit its a ~5 min drive now) i know its cliche, but this movie changed my life. there are many little habits in my life that stem from watching the dvd on repeat as a child, teen, and now an adult. i love most ghibli works, but nothing will beat spirited away.

eternal sunshine: i have a love/hate relationship with manic pixie dream girls and the trope in general, but fuck do i love kate winslet as clem in this. probably my least watched film on this list (bc it hurts each time), but a forever fav.

marie antoinette: the soundtrack. the aesthetics. a visual and audio dream. parts of it are silly and absurd, but i can overlook those for all the beautiful shots of versailles. kiki dunst for life.

ratatouille: in a former life i was a big pixar nut with dreams of working there one day in the marketing dept (lol). i have deep rooted and controversial pixar takes, but i stanned ratatouille looooong before tiktok turned it into a musical and a meme.

pride and prejudice: do i need to explain my love for this one bc lord knows i reblog mads regency au!taeil fic enough for my love of p&p 05 to be known lmfao

the muppet movie: rainbow connection makes me cry every time lol. but also just a feel good movie. 

scream: the first horror movie i could stomach in my early 20′s lol. will forever have a crush on sidney prescott.

midsommar: the second horror movie i could stomach (and only bc i read the script in advance so i knew what was coming lol) i even made my own may queen halloween costume that year and wore it to work at ikea lmfao. ~skål~

the cranes are flying: i had to watch this film twice in college (womens studies course on feminism in post WW2 russia and again for films of the USSR) and i can’t explain why i love this movie, but i do? the cinematography is excellent, but the plot slumps in the second half. soviet cinema has some real interesting stuff, but this was ultimately my favorite of anything i had to watch for class.

plus two honorable mentions not pictured: the handmaiden and little forest, both starring kim tae-ri. every other film on this list is a tried and true favorite of mine for at least a couple of years/repeat viewings, and these two films were just watched for the first time in 2022. little forest particularly has stuck with me, as someone with weird eating issues. the whole idea of a film where the protagonist is hungry both in the literal and figurative sense. i am too, as of late. its free to watch on viki and under 2 hours in length. highly recommend if you need ‘healing’ content (a word i haaate to use, but in this case certainly fits)
