hnnghghfh listen. people really underappreciate the potential for hybrid fics and shapeshifter fics that hoshi's tiger agenda brings, but this uses it really well! i love the interleaving of fantasy into Totally Normal Lee Jihoon's life and dude,,, the cliché tropes r all just so good

Replayed Togainu no chi + watching the anime

First thing I want to say I played tnc first few years ago and I was absolutely obsessed with it to the point I couldn't think of anything else and at the time I considered it my favorite visual novel (spoiler: not anymore) and don't get me wrong I still love it a lot, I kept the 9/10 rating which is very very rare for me althought I have to admit it's probably more my nostalgia and overlooking some flaws than it being that good lol.

It really pains me to say a substantial part of the game I kept thinking how much this doesn't feel like it did the first time and I want to believe it's because I already knew everything that was going to happen. Especially Shiki's route, I like him but his route was soo boring hardly anything happend in it besides the h-scenes which I liked but they could've done so much more there plot wise. Nano's route was also meh but that much I expected considering what I rememberd and the fact that I haven't seen a single positive opinion about it.

It's not much of a review I just wanted to share some of my thoughts. At the end of the day I still really love tnc as a whole especially it's atmosphere that had me captivated instantly. and Rin omg Rin is so underappreciated he deserves everything.

Having gone back to my n+c hyperfixation I couldn't not brag about it to everyone I know and somehow that got my friend from school interested in watching the anime for it which means a lot since she's not even into anime (or so she claims because we watched a few together in the past year and she keeps wanting to watch more). I probably wouldn't enjoy it as much if I watched it alone but I have to say I like the pacing because somehow it's so fast the episodes feel like they're 10 minutes so at least it doesn't get boring. The way they merged scenes from separate routes works well in my opinion too as they don't feel off. Overall it's not bad but it is terrible as an adaptation, like most shows based on games. (Granted I have only seen it up to episode 7 as of writing this I might edit the post if I have anything more to say about the remaining half.)

Okay, so like, GriffGuts is iconic and probably going to win.

But like!! I'm still writing up a context writeup for SooHak because I LOVE THEM and they also DRIVE ME INSANE. It does not help that this ship is largely upheld by THE ACTUAL MANGAKA and is, in fact, super underappreciated in the fanbase. SooHak absolutely won't exist without GriffGuts, Mizuho Kusanagi definitely based SooHak off GriffGuts. She and the late Keito Miura even drew fanart of the other's respective series!

But I'd still say that SooHak deserves recognition as they have their own keen identity! And so, I shall introduce you to them!

Soo-Won and Hak start out as close childhood friends. Each boy has traits that the other greatly admires.

For Hak, he can't help but be dazzled by Soo-Won's wit and charisma.

For Soo-Won, Hak's strength and dependability are a goal to strive towards.

Going back to focus more on Hak, Soo-Won wasn't just someone to admire, Soo-Won was someone he wanted to better himself for. Someone he wanted to be worthy of, and someone he wanted to support with everything he had.

A future where Soo-Won was the king who revolutionized the country seemed set. Hak believed in that future more than anyone and he also believed that in that future, he would stand by Soo-Won as his most loyal and trusted retainer.

...but while Soo-Won became king, the rest didn't come to pass.

On Yona's sixteenth birthday, her world was shaken when she came across her father King Il being brutally murdered by Soo-Won. As her being a witness to this violent coup was a liability, Soo-Won moved to silence her permanently. Hak was able to come to her rescue, but while the two survived, their hearts were shattered by the events.

Despite her feelings remaining complicated, Yona is able to move forward. Despite Yona having supposedly been in love with Soo-Won, Hak struggles significantly more with letting go.

When the two meet again, it was as if nothing else mattered. Hak was driven into a blind rage, unheeding and even uncaring of the others around him until Yona snapped him out of it.

And Soo-Won, faced with his once dearest friend's fury and heartbreak, forgot himself and froze.

Soo-Won already made the decision to sacrifice Hak and Yona for his goals, but even if he can only move forward, his heart still lingers. His feelings of love and care toward them haven't changed.

And despite everything that happened, when the two find themselves in a situation where they need to rely on the other once more...

They do.

And when it comes down to it...

They work together perfectly.

Even Yona can't help but take notice and mourn the future they could've had.

AND I COULD GO ON AND ON, AKAYONA IS LIKE ALMOST 250 CHAPTERS AT THE TIME OF POSTING.

But I don't want to spoil too much!

Please just read AkaYona! You can still vote for Griffith/Guts, I would understand, but don't completely dismiss SooHak as 'nobodies'! You're doing such a wonderful dynamic and to an extent another great fantasy epic a huge disservice!

Just give Soo-Won/Hak (and AkaYona) a chance, please!

Villain bench trio is one of my favourite Aus, mainly cause of that animation, I think its so smooth and also the other side, like you said, is such a good song.

I loved the protégé one so much, my friend sent it to me and I went absolutely wild, its so cool. I love protege/mask tommy Aus

The sbi one is one of my favorites, partly to the great animation, partly to the song and how it fits them so well. Its just so good aishfhasdad.

The disc saga one is one I legitimately went feral for, cause I saw it after a long time of not seeing animatics and it was just so good. I love the creator of that animations other stuff too, which is how I found their channel and its just crazy to see that they were into dream smp aswell.

The animaated series one is genuinely one of my favorites, god it must of taken so much work but its soo good. Like, I love any animatics who do the same thing of summarising an arc.

The tubbo ones are so cool! I feel like tubbo is an underappreciated character, or at least misinterpreted in certain works, so I love when aniimatics/fics get him right, which is most fics/animatics, but still.

soo ep4 huh? i’m kinda freaking out about that sex scene. it was hot ngl and the way kinn was trying to control himself but he couldn’t!! I mean same I also wouldn’t be able to control myself around Porsche. it’s not ideal that it happened when p was drugged but it’s still better than the novel I guess. I’m scared how he will react when he wakes up tho. I hope he won’t regret it too much, I don’t want it to feel more r*pey than it already is. 1/2

2/2 and vegas??? man I love a good villain and he’s so good so far!! that last shot of him naked is just insane!! I can’t wait to see more of him. and kim??? I fell in love the moment he came on screen. I loved the change in his personality when he was with porchay and with big. also what is he investigating? did I miss something in the previous episodes? I forgot what else I wanted to talk about but yeah it was a great episode!!

oh boy oh boy i could write a whole meta on the intricacies of that scene and the microexpressions from the both of them. and you're right, it was definitely dubcon because porsche was drugged nobody can doubt that. one of the best and most underappreciated parts of the whole ending scene is porsche literally headbutting vegas when he tries to bite him and leave his mark like a freak. i think it was a good scene to reiterate that porsche still had some agency, he wasn't powerless or passive as some people like to make him out to sound during it

my favourite part of the whole thing is that tiny little smile porsche tries to hide against kinn's shoulder before he gets turned around and pressed up against the window like 🥺🥺 boy is so giddy. and the way they established that kinn doesn't kiss people but cant help himself when he's around porsche. the fact he kissed him properly like four times and then we got so many shots of him kissing his neck and chest and stomach he literally cannot keep his mouth off of him hes so whipped its insane

as far as regretting it goes, i dont think that'll be much of a huge issue personally? i think the issues will stem from kinn feeling guilty and his father pointing out that porsche failed his task and then kinn slept with him. we've seen a few times now just how much influence korn has on kinn. from the way he chastisied him in episode one and made him keep trying to recruit porsche, kinn really looks up to his father despite everything and to have him be so reprimanding like that is gonna mess with is head a bit

yes yes kim!!! i feel like kim has 3 different personalities that he uses as a shield around people. obviously the way he acted around porchay and the other fans was as his stage persona wik (literally kim backwards i hate this whole ass family) where he's more smiley and carefree and kind to people. then there's the way he acts around his bodyguards like big, the way he's so dismissive of them and doesn't seem to care or even want to care about their opinions. like when big told him about his suspicions of porsche and he just shrugged him off and dismissed him like it was nothing. and then there's the more charming persona that we'll probably see next episode. the one he'll start using on porchay so he can learn more about porsche. and tbh, i dont even think he realises which personality feels most like him anymore. he's stuck in a loop of pretending that i really hope porchay helps drag him out of

and im convinced somewhere alon the way we'll end up getting a scene of porchay discovering his kim-spiracy board, probably by accident (bcs seriously who puts their big investigation board behind a massive picture of themselves this family is insane) which will cause a lot of angst and tension in their relationship and like, i wonder if that's the reason we see porchay crying in the trailer? porsche about to beat up his step brother for hurting him deadass

and the investigation board!!! i dont think anything's concrete yet, but im assuming it has something to do with kim trying to figure out who the mole is and like, when you think about it it's kind of heartbreaking. kinn telling porsche in the sauna scene that it feels like he doesn't have a brother anymore because he never sees him, but secretly kim is doing all this work to try and keep kinn and his family safe he just wont admit it to anyone so kinn doesn't know everything he does for him 🥺

i was talking with bianca and asher about this the other day and seeing porsche and porchay's pictures on the board so close to the right side which was all about the murders got me thinking about their parents and how, maybe, one of the families had something to do with their deaths? lowkey it could explain korn's interest in porsche if he either a) feels like he has a debt to them, or b) wants to recruit him to wrap him up in the lifestyle so he literally wont be able to report them for what happened with his parents because he's too wrapped up in it too now

bonus points if, obviously, kinn doesn't know anything about it and it becomes a point of tension between him and his father but, more importantly, a source of angst between him and porsche because porsche is under the impression that kinn knew - how could he not know, he's the son in charge of the theerapanyakul legacy he has to know. it would be such good angst i would eat that shit up with my bare hands bestie

favorite thing about them: This is kinda hard to put into words but I just. Really love how his character changes throughout the seasons I love how while he's still short-tempered and stuff he's also kinda chill and me just thinks he's p cool c:

least favorite thing about them: His treatment of Red Son in the start like bro be nice to your son - but that also peeves me because. In jttw the demon bull family is so loving they're so cute and even in the chinese dub of the show him and pif are NOT as mean to their son and it makes me >:(( Glad to see he's better in s3 tho I love a husband and father <3

favorite line: "Useless offspring..." 2 seconds later "I didn't doubt him for a second!" (That scene just. made me laugh so hard the first time the timing is SO well done bHSDHDH)

favorite thing about them: WHERE DO I EVEN STAAART he's a very classic goofy protagonist type, but he's so delightful and I love that while he's silly and stuff he's not an idiot and won't hesitate to get serious, he feels very real. He's just a really good dude I love him so much bro that's my SON

least favorite thing about them: I can't really think about anything, even things that peeve me are things I appreciate because it makes sense for his character and stuff ya know
