Bat-Family Nicknames and Insults
So I went off the other day because fans keep having people who aren't Roy Harper call Jason Todd "Jaybird" and now I'm thinking about all the other nickname misconceptions so here's a probably non-comprehensive list of nicknames among the Bat Fam.
(Special thanks to @sohotthateveryonedied for a bunch of my data, she made a whole powerpoint with actual comic panels! Go check that out! Also got some info from @kiragecko who was writing some lists with more specific references.)
This list is an active document and will be edited in the event I find more nicknames or have more to say
Addendum note: I'm more than willing to add something I forgot, but you must have receipts. I'm not just going off of memory. Nothing will be added to this list without proof. If you don't have a source, please don't make a suggestion.
This is aside from assorted common insults and nicknames like jerk, ass, shorty, dude, idiot, etc.. Sidenote, every not-Steph Robin has been called “Little Bird”, “Birdboy” and/or “Wonder Boy” at some point. It’s kinda part of the job lol Secondary side-note, the only ones who REALLY use nicknames for people are Barbara and Jason. And Tim specifically in reference to Damian. Everyone else pretty much uses their names 98% of the time. Final note (sorryyyyyy) generally unless they're funny to me, I'm not including things used only once unless I have gotten vibes that it's a trend. This is an attempt to compile recurring nicknames. So ones noted to be used once are either I can only confirm it happened once but could happen multiple times, or I think it's hilarious.
Alfred Pennyworth
Al/Alf Seems to be a common nickname among the boys.
Alfie Dick, Tim, and Jason have all called him this.
Alfredo Jason called him this at least once and I think that’s funny. Not sure it’s exclusive though.
Mom Dick seems to have referred to him as such once
I’m sorry but that’s so funny.
Alfred also has specific ways of referring to everyone: Bruce: Master Bruce, Mister Wayne, Lad, Bruce, My Son Barbara: Mistress Barbara, Miss Barbara, Miss Gordon, Miss Oracle Dick: Master Dick, Master Richard, Master Grayson, Dear Boy, Young Sir, Young Man, Richard, Dick Cassandra: Miss Cassandra, Young Cassandra, My Dear Jason: Master Jason, Young Sir, Lad, Jason Tim: Master Tim, Master Timothy, Young Master Tim, Lad, Young Sir, Young Man, Timothy, Tim Damian: Master Damian, Young Master Damian, Young Sir, Young Man, Son, Damian
Bruce Wayne
Spooky Oliver Queen calls him this, others might as well but I legitimately have no idea.
Batsy Everyone and their goddamn dog, but Joker uses this notably a lot.
Detective RA'S AL GHUL EXCLUSIVE. I think? But this is how Ra's generally refers to Bruce.
B-Man HARLEY QUINN EXCLUSIVE...I think. She calls him this a lot though.
While Dick and Jason will internally think of Bruce as their father, Dick rarely says so and extremely rarely calls him “Dad”. Jason would only say so mockingly or under pain of a second death. Tim rarely even thinks of Bruce as his father (he didn’t become Robin to be Bruce’s kid, and he doesn’t want to replace his own father—much the same way Dana didn’t replace Janet) and never refers to him as such outside of WE work (where he very much uses that to his advantage). Damian almost exclusively refers to Bruce as “Father” but has called him "Dad". Steph sometimes calls him “Boss”. Everyone usually calls him "Bruce".
He refers to ALL of the boys as “chum” and “lad” at some point. It’s just how he used to talk honestly. He DOES NOT call them “sweetie” or “honey” or anything like that. He DOES, however, speak to small children this way. There are multiple instances of him using "sweetheart" and similar terms when dealing with young children. This differentiation I think is for two reasons. One, Bruce is emotionally stunted and being open with anyone outside of actively comforting is difficult for him, and two, the youngest child he has ever had himself was 9 years old so he's never had a small child he'd be likely more inclined to be extra super soft with.
Barbara Gordon
Babs Most people call her this. Bruce doesn’t seem to though, oddly enough.
Babsy/Babsie Both Dick and Jim Gordon have called her this. Very cute.
Barb/Barbie Nearly exclusive to Jason Todd, actually. I think her dad calls her this once in a while, but specifically Jason calls her this.
Babes A few of her friends call her this, but mostly Luke Fox when they were dating.
Red A few people call her this, but mostly Jason and not real often. Probably cuz we already have a red-head often referred to as “Red” (Pam Isely by Harley) and as to not be confused with the other two Reds in the family (Red Hood and Red Robin).
The High Priestess of Tech More of a reference than a nickname, but I think it’s funny. Dick referred to her as such.
O For Oracle!
Dick Grayson Exclusives because Boyfriend Baby Love Beautiful
Richard Grayson
Dick Everyone calls him this. Almost no one calls him Richard.
Dickie His parents also called him this, along with other people who knew him from Haly’s Circus, but otherwise it’s mostly just Jason.
Dickster I
hate that this is canon lmao. Dick has thought this one in his inner monologue, but Jason has also said it at least once. It’s
Something.
Circus Boy Common insult, Jason uses it a few times.
Tight Ass No comment.
Rob Kinda rare for him and more a Tim thing, but his Titans team call him this sometimes. I specifically remember Wally doing so, and Roy too I think.
Boy Wonderful Not marking this as exclusive because Babs probably used it at one point but, shockingly (or not) this comes from Wally West! Wally has also called his Titans team as a group “Dear Hearts” at least once which is just so fucking cute. Neeeeeerd.
Kid Not exclusive to him, but consistently called this by Slade Wilson/Deathstroke over most anything else.
Marcia TIM DRAKE EXCLUSIVE. A joke between him and Tim, assigning each Bat-boy a Brady Bunch member.
Little Robin MARY GRAYSON EXCLUSIVE. This is where the hero name Robin came from; Dick’s mom used to call him this.
Dickie-Bird JASON TODD EXCLUSIVE. Jason calls Dick this a lot during his weird appearances in Nightwing that I pretend never happened because it was weird and dumb. But it is a canonical nickname. And it’s funny.
Amy Rohrbach Exclusives because Partner Rookie Stud Cowboy Sherlock Mr. Confident
Barbara Gordon Exclusives because Girlfriend (and because she’s funny) Flatterer Boyfriend The Brightest, Sweetest, Most Handsome, Wealthiest Young Bachelor on the Entire East Coast Buckaroo Bucko Candy-Gram Darling Lover Love Hunk Wonder Man Wonder Hound Wonder Former Teen Wonder Twenty Something Wonder Blue Wonder Poor Lovable Naïve Dope Pixie Boots
Cassandra Cain
Cass Pretty much everyone calls her this.
Cassie Some people call her this, specifically the people closest to her; Stephanie, Tim, Barbara, Bruce, and Duke. It’s generally used sparingly, especially considering Tim is close to ANOTHER Cassandra who goes by “Cassie” almost exclusively, so Cass is generally preferred to avoid confusion. But Cassie is tossed around.
Batghoul Possibly Stephanie Brown exclusive, though easy enough that I wouldn’t be surprised if others called her that. She is notoriously spooky.
Bat-Babe KON-EL/CONNER KENT EXCLUSIVE. These two are actually good friends and dated for a short time. They’re very cute. And they met at the time Kon was just
Like That.
Jason Todd
Jay Literally everyone calls him this sometimes. It’s a common nickname.
Jace/Jase Also pretty common, but seems to mostly be among family. Dick and Bruce have at least both called him this.
The Toddster Was called such by Danny Chase, implying they were friends somehow? (Jason didn't have many Titans missions so idk how they were close enough for him to call him that). He calls him that when he discovers Jason’s status in the system is “unknown”, leading him to find out he’s dead.
Rojo Referred to himself as this once while he was still a crime boss, so presumably some of his gang called him this too. Obviously Spanish for red because Red Hood.
Little Bird Possibly exclusive to Barbara Gordon, she called him this in a flashback.
Jan That Dick and Tim Brady Bunch joke. Just imagine one of them looking Jason dead in the eye and saying “Sure, Jan.”
Little Wing DICK GRAYSON EXCLUSIVE. Called Robin Jason this in Nightwing Year 1 and it’s very cute.
Jaybird ROY HARPER EXCLUSIVE. The reason I’m making this post because no one seems to remember that Roy and only Roy has ever called Jason this. But any time these two appear together, it’s usually said at least once.
Stephanie Brown
Steph Pretty much everyone calls her this at one point.
Stephie A few people if I recall, but I know Tim’s called her that.
Blondie Pretty sure a few people call her this, but notably Harper Row.
Damian Wayne Exclusives because He Was A Brat Wench Fatgirl Girl Blunder
Timothy Drake
Tim Everyone to the point where it’s just his name.
Timmy A lot of people call him this pretty teasingly. Dick, Jason, and Babs do it consistently, but that’s older siblings for ya. Bernard has done it too.
Timbo Dick and Jason as well as his friend Ives have called Tim this at the very least. Tim notably doesn't seem to like it, though he has used it himself in a derogatory way in his inner monologue.
Timbers I’ve only ever seen Jason call him this, but I could be missing things. Would not be surprised if Dick did too, but it’s very Jason.
Rob Most of Young Justice called him that up until he revealed his name (which took a while because Bruce was being controlling and overprotective, as he does). Short for “Robin”, obviously, which is all they knew him as.
My Robin I’m pretty sure each member of Young Justice has said this about Tim, though Conner does it the most and has the biggest negative reaction to literally anyone but Tim being Robin.
Cindy DICK GRAYSON EXCLUSIVE. It’s that Brady Bunch joke again!
Little Brother DICK GRAYSON EXCLUSIVE. I didn't originally include it because it had the same vibes as like "dude" or "jerk"; something that's easily tossed around, y'know? And it feels like a descriptor, but it is actually used as a title/nickname several times, especially when Dick is messing with Tim.
Pretender JASON TODD EXCLUSIVE. Though it should be noted, he only directly called him this one time. Aside from that, he more refers to Tim as A pretender, not as like a nickname or title. It’s a description. (like “replacement” was but fandom made that a nickname yes I am in fact bitter)
Duckboy HARLEY QUINN EXCLUSIVE. She says this once, but it’s hilarious so I’m keeping it.
Detective RA’S AL GHUL EXCLUSIVE. Ra’s is very particular about titles. The only other person he refers to as “Detective” is Bruce, and Dick one time in his internal monologue, so he is acknowledging Tim’s competence. And then proceeds to get a large portion of his resources obliterated by Tim <3
Stephanie Brown Exclusives because Girlfriend Sweetie Muffin Boy Virgin
Duke Thomas
Narrows Almost Jason exclusively, though I think Harper has called him this once or twice. In reference to the neighborhood he grew up in, as opposed to Jason and Harper's Park Row aka Crime Alley upbringing.
Newbie Jason calls him this frequently, though it's likely the others have too.
Baby Bird ELAINE THOMAS EXCLUSIVE. Yeah, surprisingly Duke is actually called this by his mom.
Damian Wayne
Gremlin Mostly exclusive to Tim, but Jason has called him this too. This also seems to be Tim’s go-to for Damian when not using his name or codename.
Dami Used by Jon Kent and Talia al Ghul, so presumably those closest to him.
Little D I think Barbara Gordon exclusive but I’m not sure.
Cousin Oliver Not said to his face to my knowledge, but the Brady Bunch in-joke between Dick and Tim.
Prince/Your Highness (other royal variations) A common way to mock Damian for his haughty air and stuck-up attitude. More common in the past because Damian was The Worst and never shut up about being the heir to Batman and the Demon's Head. He's grown a lot since then and this kind of joke is used less. He is still pretty snooty though.
D JON KENT EXCLUSIVE. I have yet to see anyone else call him this at least, and this is how Jon almost always refers to him.
Baby Bird TALIA AL GHUL EXCLUSIVE. I’ve seen her call him this once, and I don’t recall ever seeing anyone else call him this. Just wanted it known that Talia is the only one to call Damian this.
Tim Drake Exclusives because Tim is Petty and Damian was a Brat Little Monster Hobbit Homunculus Little snot Spoiled, vicious and homicidal little punk Heir to the Kingdom of the Damned
Note on how Damian refers to others: Damian usually uses full first names or surnames, depending on circumstance and closeness. He occasionally calls Dick “Dick” or “Richard”, but often calls him “Grayson”. He almost always refers to Tim as “Drake”, but occasionally as “Timothy”.
Fanon names that I dislike
Replacement Jason never once calls Tim this, and refers to Tim as A replacement about as much as Dick did about Jason (Yes Dick has at least once when talking to Bruce referred to Jason as his replacement). How common it is in this fandom to call Tim "Replacement" (with a capital R like it's a name or title!!!) drives me absolutely insane. It's not canon and tbh you can do better. Hell, "pretender" is right there! And Jason's a nerd, he would do better.
Baby Bird Like
it’s cute, but given it’s used in fanon almost exclusively for Tim, and POST DAMIAN, it just feels infantalizing. Especially when the only canon uses are mothers towards their kids. I see this a lot with Dick and Jason using it, which is...just no. Like, Dick, I get it, but he's more likely to call Tim "Little Brother". Jason would never allow himself to be seen as this soft to Tim. If he were trying to be gentle with him, he'd probably call him "kid". He's done that before.
Baby Bat(s) I have seen this used literally twice. Once where a goon mockingly called Tim that, and once in an AU where Harley said it to Damian. "Baby Bat" isn't a thing. Sorry.
Big Bird More amusing than anything but a little annoying. No one ever calls Dick that in canon and whenever I read it all I can think of is Sesame Street so unless a giant yellow muppet bird is what you're going for, maybe don't do that lol
Demon Brat/Demon Spawn Not the most egregious thing, especially considering the numerous nicknames Tim comes up with, but the consistency of its usage in fanon is a little frustrating. This is never used in-canon, and if you want to use it in your fanworks, just maybe intersperse it with other more creative nicknames, yeah? It's just unoriginal at this point.
Jaylad I don’t hate this one, but it’s such a huge misconception that it’s canon. Bruce has said “Jay, lad” a couple times because he calls like every boy he meets “lad” and people made up “Jaylad”. Not the worst thing ever, but it's not canon.
Golden Boy I don't actually have a problem with this one, but I may as well clear up that this is canon as a descriptor but not as a nickname for Dick. Like calling Jason "the dead Robin". Like, people have said that about him in-canon, but they haven't called him that. The common derivative "Goldie" is entirely fanon.
Non-canon nicknames I think are funny
Dick-face/Dickhead I’m sorry, I find it hilarious whenever someone (usually Jason) in fanfic calls him this. It’s also to me just a silly exaggeration of the obvious joke that has been made at least once (but probably several times by now) in canon about someone being about to call Nightwing a dick and someone else reminding them not to use names in the field. I think it’s hilarious.
Timberly I can’t tell you why this specific deviation of Tim is funny to me but it is. And I'm surprised I haven't seen Jason call Tim this in canon.

I know you've all been waiting for this one: Sum of Our Parts (yes I finally got to Meghan Fitzmartin).
The very first thing I'll say: yeah, I see why DC commissioned more stuff from her after getting this and seeing the response. It's a solid opening showing her ability to write Tim.
There were a lot of moving parts that needed to be re-established and tidied up in this story, and I can see the list being worked through:-
Name: being very clear Tim is currently Robin, because since Tynion's 'Tec run ended, his name and costume have been varying by who is writing him with very little consistency.
Tim not going to university: this probably did need a push back on, because Tynion just waved the door open on that again during Joker War.
The fact that Tim and Steph are broken up (sort of essential for the plot being told)
Playing with the themes of moving on from Robin (but in this case using it as a frame to actually be the bait and switch that it's coming out instead)
Bernard is clearly an OC from the ground up who shares a name and hair colour with his previous existence. Which, look, Bernard was a pretty thin character with basically two personality traits (conspiracy theorist/trying really hard to project cool), and it is of course fairly arguable that Bernard was projecting a front at 16 that he no longer needs now he's accepted his identity. But it would be nice to have that conveyed in the text, rather than something you infer to try and connect two characters who are otherwise unalike. Especially given how much of the story is Tim reflecting on himself.
Even a line or two more about how he doesn't feel the need for a front anymore to line up with Tim having revelations. "Tell Tim Drake...he helped me realise my true self. Who I am" is nice enough but it could still use some more acknowledgement of how that changed his personality. It's just this nice parallel that could have helped develop the themes more securely. There's a bunch of possible implications you can read into the story (particularly in terms of how the Dowd parents really ARE characterised lightly as Fanon Drakes, between the polite fronts and implications that Bernard was previously abused at home in this) and this is one of the things that while I don't mind how much of this story Fitzmartin was telling via implication, a few more concrete things confirmed would have helped.
If I were going to make a solid stab of a guess at what sections of Robin Fitzmartin liked/reread in the lead into writing this, I honestly think it was Fabian Nicieza's Robin run (and probably parts of Red Robin). It's just...a lot of the characterisation has some very similar notes to it. Tim's got the same sort of smug confident edge to his internal commentary, the ways his skills are portrayed, and Detective Williams even reminds me quite a bit of Officer Jamie Harper. (I don't think she actually looked back over Willingham).
It's also very much a coming out story, and I do appreciate in that Fitzmartin does try to be delicate about it and doesn't whack you over the head with the bluntest lines possible (I just suffered through that in Infinite Frontier #0 with Alan Scott and good god did I cringe the entire way through the 'yes while you are my biological children and I have indeed been married. to women. I am gay. Listen to me come out.'), the amount of implied themes she levels through it is still substantial. It could have used slightly more focus on the actual underlying mystery.
I can also see the start of the situation where the story needs to decide whether Bernard Knows or Doesn't Know. Because both states would allow for situations with a lot of drama (and potentially identity shenanigans which are the best shenanigans), but just having it as sort of vacillating in the middle as something that doesn't need to be investigated? It's leaving a lot of potential storytelling on the floor that could instead be used to send Tim through the wringer. (Also Tim wow half of that cult probably could have figured out your identity, you weren't subtle)
Look, I don't think this story contained the greatest Barbara Gordon characterisation ever written, but it was within the bounds of overly-interfering, self-righteous and pushy Babs, which is something that does pop up at times. It felt in conversation with her characterisation in Batgirl 2009, and while I don't LIKE the way Babs is written in it, especially in regards to Steph, it makes sense in terms of the direction DC was pivoting at this point in terms of leading into the whole Batgirls title.
Fitzmartin was also clearly using Steph characterisation from very late Robin/BFTC/start of Red Robin, when they were fighting, in terms of how she's trying to have Steph needle at Tim's sore points, and set up a dichotomy of 'Steph has it together/Tim does not'.
And yes, Belén Ortega's art is very, VERY pretty.

Hello ! I'm slowly but surely getting into Green Arrow comics and Roy appears fairly often but not much enough yet that I can get his personality that well. So, I wanted to ask - and I know it probably changed throughout the years, but - how would you describe him at his core ? What kind of guy is he ? His values ? (Is he into leftist and ecological ideologies like Ollie ? etc.)
Thank you for your help !
Hi, thanks for the ask friend!
I’m gonna answer the easiest question first which is his politics- yes, he very much is a leftist like Ollie. I’m just gonna show this one panel
Tumblr media
And I don’t think I really need to elaborate more. He’s just like his dad.
As for who Roy is as a character, I don’t think it has really changed that much, at least before the New 52 his characterisation was pretty consistent. Roy’s always been someone who is very much fuelled by his relationships with others and his love for those closest to him. Most notably his love for Lian has always been a huge motivator for him since her introduction- a lot of the time she’s very much the thing keeping him alive, with at least two instances where Roy refuses to give up because if he died Lian would be alone. He also has similar love for the rest of the Arrow family- he was snapped out of brainwashing because he refused to kill Ollie, he’s always had an incredibly close relationship with Dinah ever since Snowbirds (I would highly recommend reading Arsenal 1998 and Vixen: Return of the Lion for them), he’s fiercely protective of Mia and yelled at Ollie when he found out she was gonna become Speedy, and he gave Connor what was essentially an ace acceptance speech decades before Connor was canonically asexual, for some examples.
He’s also an incredibly forgiving person, and he wears his heart on his sleeve a lot of the time. It’s something that definitely came about more heavily after Lian was born (which personally I chalk up to his acknowledgement that she was gonna change him + his promise that he’d never lie to her- promising to be honest and open with his child made him a more open and honest person in general), and it’s SUCH a crucial part of his character. When Roy has feelings, he expresses them loudly and immediately and then moves on most of the time- which is why when Roy and the rest of the Fab Five were stuck on an island designed specifically to bring up grudges and resentments Roy was really the only one who wasn’t that affected- all of his grievances were in response to things that were actively happening in the moment while others had let things fester for a while. It also does make the few moments were he does hide his emotions more poignant, particularly in his relationship with Donna in Titans 1999 (which I would very very highly recommend you read, it’s the jackpot for Roy Harper characterisation.)
And I know it’s very cliche to say about a superhero because duh, he’s a hero, but Roy is so good. He tends to get the reputation as the bad boy of the Titans, which I do get, but at his heart Roy is a hero through and through, not just because he saves the day but because he cares so, so much and the best example of that is through his interactions with kids/teenagers. The most notable example that comes to mind is Grant Emerson- Roy was really one of the first adults in Grant’s life who genuinely cared about him and his wellbeing, and
 y’know what, I’m just gonna show this page off again because I will never stop talking about it
Tumblr media
Again, highly recommend reading Titans 1999 for Roy and Grant because they’re genuinely one of my favourite father/son-adjacent relationships in any media ever- also recommend Roy’s Titans run for them, oh and if you wanna know more about Grant by himself you should read Damage 1994 :)
Oh and also Roy is lame. An absolute loser. He quotes Friends to try and flirt with women. I hate him.

Woo, the ask box is open again!! Been wanting to ask about any alternatives to Call of Cthulhu (investigative games with the potential to be set in the early 20th century) with more open licensing, such as having Open Game Licenses or being licensed under Creative Commons?
THEME: Hackable CoC Alternatives
Hello friend! I'm excited about the new asks as well!
So as far as I know, a lot of indie designers are very happy to allow hacks and supplements done of their work, but if it isn't clear on their page, asking in a comment certainly doesn't hurt!
That being said, for this ask, I made sure to recommend games that are built on systems that have been stated to be licensed under Creative Commons or something similar.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eldritch, by Matheus Henrique Morais.
A hack of 24XX for Cosmic Horror games in any setting. Inspired by Cthulhu Dark.
24XX is a game system that has been hacked for a number of different settings and is released under a Creative Commons 4.0 license. The base rules take up about one page, and there’s plenty of examples in other 24XX hacks of how to introduce a rule or two to help the game fit the genre you’re looking for. 24XX is also inspired by the OSR scene, so when it comes to running and designing adventures, you can design adventures for these games similar to how you might design them for other OSR games.
Haunter in the Dark, by Robot Francis.
This town is haunted. Your home is cursed. Monsters are real. Haunter in the Dark is a horror roleplaying game about a group of investigators discovering then confronting the supernatural horrors that haunt their home town. The game is powered by the Forged in the Dark engine, with rules to create your investigators defined by their relationship to the unnatural: the Descendent, the Dreamer, the Exorcist, the Scientist, the Sleuth, and the Sorcerer.
The motivations, powers, and minions of the horror are generated collaboratively by the players during the game, with players encouraged to creep each other out and brandish their character's sharp edges. The MC takes the townspeople, world, and monsters that the players depict, then twists the knife to make it worse than they could have imagined. The game helps you create an escalating mystery, followed by a climactic scene of confrontation.
This is a Forged in the Dark Game, which means it uses the mechanics familiar from the Forged in the Dark SRD. John Harper has stated that the contents of the SRD are available under the Creative Commons Attribution, and if you want to include the Forged in the Dark logo, there’s simply an attribution request to indicate it’s a logo trademarked by One Seven Design. It’s an incredibly free license, and I’m planning on writing a game in this system!
The Between, by the Gauntlet.
The Between is a tabletop roleplaying game about a group of mysterious monster hunters in Victorian-era London. They are residents of a place called Hargrave House, and their job is to investigate and neutralize monstrous threats terrorizing the city—threats that Scotland Yard won’t or can’t handle themselves. As the story progresses, they become aware of the plans of a Moriarty-style criminal mastermind they will eventually have to face in order to save Queen and country.
The Between is directly inspired by the gothic horror TV show Penny Dreadful, but also takes a lot of inspiration from British horror classics, graphic novels like From Hell and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and pulp-era stories. Mechanically, it’s Powered by the Apocalypse but also uses the mystery system from Brindlewood Bay.
Both the Powered by the Apocalypse “system” and the Carved from Brindlewood license are pretty open. Vincent & Meguey Baker do not lay claim to the 2d6 mechanics of Apocalypse World, but rather use “Powered by the Apocalypse” to signify that a game was inspired by Apocalypse World in some way. There are thousands of PbtA games out there, many of which alter what some folks may have originally thought were key parts of PbtA. Meanwhile, Gauntlet Publishing runs a Discord channel that welcomes people’s ideas that use the Carved from Brindlewood label, and creates channels for each new game that has a name and a draft ready to go.
R’LYEH, by Another Cosmic Zine.
R’lyeh is a hack of Durf.
It adapts the game’s procedures and themes into a ruleset designed for tabletop scenarios of horror, investigation, mystery and madness.
Both this game and its predecessor are designed to be hacked and re-worked, and are licensed under Creative Commons 4.0. They are fairly rules light and would probably benefit from having some supplements and home-brew! This game looks to be somewhat indifferent to the time period it’s set in, which tells me that you can probably run it in the early 19th century with little adjustments needed.
Cthork Borg, by kumada1.
Cthork Borg is a full conversion hack that adapts MÖRK BORG to a jazz age cosmic horror setting.
Cthork Borg uses the Mork Borg Third-Party License, which is fairly permissive and allows you to reference the mechanics and rules of the game. The creator for Cthork Borg even offers up the colours used in the game so that creators can create using the same colour palette! You’ll also be able to check out some other material that’s already been made for this game on the link above, including extra classes for characters, a guide to the setting, and rules for adding animals!

This line right here has had a choke hold on me for the last five minutes, sir, on god?
hnnnnfggshshjsk SIR
quick content warnings: pregnancy talk (PC used to be pregnant), Harper being a right fucking creep, kidnapping kinda??
If I remember correctly, IRL, there's a certain amount of time that has to pass before it's safe to have sex again after giving birth (seems like it ranges from 2 to 6 weeks), and Harper would be mindful of that before doing anything to you. (He doesn't want to damage to your pretty little hole!)
But here's the issue- Harper wants to be the FIRST one to fuck you postpartum. He's been thinking about knocking you up with your next kid ever since you got pregnant with the first one, and there's no way in hell he's going to let someone else get that chance before him. He's earned it, he thinks. He's been so helpful throughout your pregnancy; he's been there every step of the way. He deserves it, he knows. You owe him that.
His solution is to keep you somewhere safe, somewhere monitored, where he KNOWS you're safe. Maybe it's a private room in the hospital, locked behind a keycard swipe. You'll be allowed visitors, at first. He's not some monster; if your loved ones want to come see you, they may. But he doesn't like the way some of them look at you, and he hates the way you look at them back. So the visitor hours grow shorter and shorter, effectively cutting people off. (He's also very particular on which nurses come to treat you. This hospital is full of dangerous people, and, unfortunately, he doesn't have the authority to fire whoever he pleases.)
If people ask, he mentions something about irregular results. Uses a lot of buzzwords, says it's not safe for outside germs to come near you. That they need to be extra careful around you, so it's best to leave you be. To rest.
This moves onto the next part, he needs to keep you in his grasp long enough for it to be safe to fuck you again, to breed you again. (And yes, Harper could get you pregnant in other ways- he could insert his sperm via tube/syringe like he's done to many test subjects before, but his cock disagrees. He needs to feel himself inside of you. He's waited long enough. He can wait a little more, the prize'll be worth it.) He uses similar excuses explanations as to why he needs to keep you with him at the hospital longer. He needs to monitor your levels, your progress.
"Something seems wrong," he'd say, "best to keep you longer, for your health."
It's easier to handle when other people come to him for answers, looking to call him out on his bullshit. They have no power here, he doesn't even have to talk to them, if he really didn't want to. (But he's no coward, he can stand tall with a smile that'll make others shy away.) All it takes is a little manipulation to get them to turn around. He's the expert here. He knows what's best for you, not them. If they refuse, well, it's bad to cause a ruckus in a healing environment, yeah? They'll be kindly escorted out.
It's harder when it comes to you, though. It's not like he wasn't expecting it- he's prepared- but it's still disappointing when you start getting restless. You want to leave, he gets that. You want to go home, to be with your kid. And he understands that. But you can't go yet. Not yet. Not until he gets what he wants. Not until you're ready. But, unfortunately for him, your patience runs out before the timer does, and you're,,, less than happy. And he didn't want to do this (he did, he was just waiting for the perfect moment, the perfect excuse), but your behavior starts to get so erratic and upsetting, so he throws you in the asylum. (Poor thing. So distraught, you're a danger to yourself. He had to step in.) Somewhere even more isolated safe, and he keeps you there for as long as he needs.
When the time comes, after one of your examinations, Harper is shaking from restrained excitement. He almost forgets to hypnotize you, drug you, whatever- he's just so eager to be inside you and pump you full of his seed.
And when he does get to... oh boy, it's heavenly. The wait was worth it.

Hi! Can I ask what Noha's (i hope I spelled that right) relationship is like with the other characters (sorry if you talked about this already)
Also, just so you know, I am very concerned about Felix's parents!
hello!! and yes you did spell it right!!
———
I haven’t actually gone into detail about it actually! Just a quick “they have a positive/negative opinion on so and so” so I’ll use this as an opportunity to go in-depth!
~~~
Harper: Noha thinks Harper is weird, to say the least. They find his voice weird, his actions strange, his words too big, his everything is just too much. Noha doesn’t hate Harper—though it does seem like that—they just find him akin to a puzzle: strange and wild and unpredictable and—above all else—interesting.
Mehri: Noha’s opinion of Mehri is this: they think she’s a little naive, and maybe she could learn to be less forgiving, but they still like their honesty, and kindness, and overall goodness. The relationship these two have is interesting: I’ve said before that Noha had the lowest morals of the rest of the gang, whereas Mehri is the opposite—their morals are the best, by far. You’d think they’d argue about a lot, but they both let that stuff slide for the sake of their friendship. They learn from each other too—she teaches Noha how to be kind, and they teach Mehri to be ruthless.
Kaiden: Noha finds Kaiden similar to them in a lot of aspects. For starters, they both are quieter, they both were forced to hurt people, and they both were alienated at a young age. Despite all these similarities, Noha doesn’t really vibe with Kaiden too well—especially at the beginning of the story. It gets better—WAY better—after a Specific Event, but for now? Noha thinks Kaiden is eh. They like her wit though. And her (very rare) sense of humor.
Felix: If Noha would describe Felix in one word, it’d be eccentric. Not in the good way, either—they find Felix weird and overall very Loud, which they do not like. They do appreciate his skill though.
Aleksi: Noha just thinks Aleksi is quiet. And a pushover. They think he needs to grow a spine. But at least he’s a decent fighter and has some sense of justice, they suppose.
Li Hua: Noha thinks Li Hua is really
 well they don’t quite have the words. On own hand, they think she’s pretty neat, and that her alchemical skills are useful, but on the other they hate the fact she’s so
 emotive. It drives them mad. They have learned to make the most of it though: they have made a game of riling Li Hua up as much as possible.
Evangeline: Noha doesn’t quite know what to make of Evangeline. When they first met, Noha assumed she’d be snooty and stuck up like how they expected nobles to act like. Instead, they were met with an awkward young woman grieving her family’s death. They are so confused about her. Noha does like her fashion sense though, so that must count for something.
thanks for the ask, @bunnymermaidsblog !
On that note the batkids have their favorite aunts and uncles. Some are obvious, some less so.
Dick is close to the Weasley twins but also likes chilling with Ron. You can even find him talking with Percy at times but they don't do it often. Alicia is his other fave non-weasley because she doesn't hesitate to take him flying especially once he gets his own broom.
Jason is closest to Hermione but he also gets on with Ginny. He likes Neville because he didn't mind if Jason got dirty as a kid and Hannah usually would sneak him snacks.
Cass likes to chill with Percy because he's the quietest out of the Weasley and she also likes Neville for similar reasons. Luna is also her favorite but for the longest time they didn't understand each other. That didn't stop them from sitting down and just vibing.
Steph loves Ginny. Ginny is just her favorite because she doesn't hesitate to let Steph do whatever and they just go on adventures. Her other favorite is Charlie for similar reasons. She also loves Tonks.
Harper is close to the Twins and also Ron. They play chest sometimes and every so often she beats him. She thinks Arthur is a riot but also a really good inventor. Between her and him, they got the Batmobile to fly [we aren't going to mention the failures and the two Batmobiles that went sentient and went off to mate and have babies. not mentioning that at all.] Her favorite non-weasley is Remus. He's so chill and reminds her of Cullen.
Cullen's fave is Bill and in tern, Fleur. Not only are they pretty but kind and let him sit in quet instead of dragging him into something. Similar reason he likes Hannah. He also enjoys spending time with Neville.
Tim can be found chatting with Percy but his favorite is Bill. Hilariously his favorite non Weasley is Seamus. Because Seamus is a proponent of 'blow shit up' and its great for Tim to have another explosion buddy that isn't Tom or Jason. Tim also likes Hermione a lot.
Damian, i already mentioned, likes Luna but he also is pretty close to Dean since Dean was the one who taught him how to animate his paintings. Damian is very close to Charlie despite the attempted Dragon theft incident and much to Harry's chagrin, Damian adores Hagrid.
continuing my last post, here are some spacekru moments i'd like to see flashbacks about (pushing for my spacekru spin off):
- murphy's coma. that must have been WILD and so scary since no one is medically trained. the GUILT that monty must have been feeling
- raven teaching emori about mechanic stuff. i can imagine raven was doing her usualt raven stuff and emori just kinda watched from afar, slowly coming closer each day til raven offered to teach emori some things. from there on they spent more and more time together, emori learning a lot
- emori and echo bonding over being grounders in space together. that must have been really difficult for them, never having been in space before and not knowing what to expect, missing earth so much
- spacekru finding booze. i know it happened, i know they cheered, i know they got drunk as hell
- i know this didn't happen (not as far as we know anyway) but murphy learning some medical stuff. he wants to be useful and knows the smallest bit of what he saw clarke and abby doing in the past, so he takes it up to organize the abandoned medbay and try to make something of it
- emori and echo learning to read and write. i'm kinda assuming here that grounders don't read or write, but i could be wrong. i'd really like to see them learn, probably raven and bellamy teaching them. hell, maybe murphy can learn some stuff too ("first son, first to dye")
- on a similar note, emori and echo teaching the others trigedasleng. a really nice exchange of knowledge and culture
- mourning clarke together. bellamy and raven ofc took it really hard, but the others were close with clarke as well or at least knew her good enough
- spacekru haircuts! they all got nice new hairstyles, i'd like to see how the haircuts went between them. maybe the first time they were still a bit wary around each other, feeling uncomfortable with another person coming close to them with scissors / a knife
- training with each other and teaching fighting styles. bellamy and harper can teach the rest how to use guns, while echo can show them how to use swords and a bow. i'm also really impressed by how raven won from echo in their little sparring match (even if echo let her win)
- the "rules" that they made. murphy mentioned they had "too many rules", so i'd like to know what they are. we already know the "time rule" aka not being allowed to mention how long they've been on the ring for, the punishment being a chore. murphy was one of the chores lmao (i'm laughing but that's sad tbh)
- emori and murphy's breakup of course. really want to know what exactly happened and how, since they both seemed to have different takes on it
- bellamy and echo slowly learning to trust each other. i still remember the "will we ever trust each other?" "probably not" (something like that) and BOOM 6 years later they're dating
- maybe a bit more about the ring itself? i'd like to know the layout and what kind of departments they have. the ring looks pretty big, but it seems like they didn't actually have many bedrooms. after murphy pushed emori away, raven says they were forced to bunk together. emori could have chosen a room for herself, but maybe there were just only very limited rooms, 5 or so? seems a bit strange to me for such a large spaceship
- i like to think they had weekly therapy talks, so i'd like to see more about them just being vulnerable with each other and learning their stories
- just more spacekru. i love them and miss them so much. please give us more content of them, literally anything
thanks for reading!
Sometimes timing works out well and u get the opportunity to see an actor you love perform in an incredible play (twice!) đŸ„č
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now I already knew I’d be going to Korea sometime in the latter part of the year, so the announcement that Taevin would be doing Angels in America was just perfect. I decided to go to the show on the 25th and closing night on the 27th because who wouldn’t want to see Taevin twice AND it meant I could see both Prior actors! Most of the cast both nights were pretty similar, but Harper, Joe, and Roy’s actors were also different
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Taevin is truly incredible. I had mixed
 negative feelings about Louis while reading the play but god Taevin can ACT!! Both Seungho and Hojun were also fantastic as Prior (I think I liked Hojun’s performance a bit more hehe) and despite not knowing much Korean I enjoyed every second (I do wonder if I was the only international person who got to see the play from as far out as I was lol)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some mixed moments I loved/thoughts from the two shows:
after kissing Harper in one scene, Joe (Yang Jiwon) wiped his mouth. He didn’t do it at the second show and I wonder if it was intentional or improv by Jiwon in the first show (but it made perfect sense)
in the second show Prior (Seungho) pulled towels from the other side of the stage (aka another set lmao) to give to Harper to wipe her tears during the joint dream sequence. Hojun didn’t do that in the first show so I wasn’t expecting that and I don’t think anyone else was cuz everyone in the audience laughed djskjdk
as I said before idk much Korean BUT I did read the play as well as watched a filmed performance before which was essential before seeing it in a different language lol. For the second night’s performance I felt like I was catching more than the first time I saw it which was cool!
speaking of things I caught more
 for some reason I heard “dyke” pronounced more clearly from Seungho and it was very entertaining to hear Roy’s actor constantly say “Jesus fucking Christ” in English so I guess they stuck w the English equivalents sometimes loooll
THE GHOSTS OF PRIOR WALTER WERE SOOO FUNNY. ESPECIALLY IN THE FIRST SHOW. they were kind of interacting w the audience??? And running around and being so sillay idk I loved it I was laughing a lot
Louis’ stupid rant to Belize was so entertaining. He just won’t stfu and Belize has had ENOUGH. I’m not sure about every version of angels, but for this they had Louis walk to a separate part of the stage and bring back chairs and then drinks which made the length of that scene get even longer and funnier. It was a lot of dialogue and both Taevin & Tae Hangho delivered so well. The only thing I’m curious about is if they altered any dialogue around Belize’s character being Black, considering Hangho is not
THAT scene. THE BREAKUP. IF YOU LIKE THE PLAY YOU KNOW THE ONE. oh my GOD it was incredible. I love the motion and the way all the characters are in conversation with each other it’s just so fucking awesome
THE WAY THE ANGEL BURSTS IN AT THE END!!! The lighting is so cool especially with the set design. Lots of flashing lights at different angles and colors creating different effects against the industrial background. What a way to end the play I wish it was 8 hours long and they DID do Perestroika bc I need to see the rest!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally, I’ll end with a little beyond-bucket-list experience I had
 which was that Taevin signed my ticket đŸ„čđŸ„čđŸ„č I won’t include a photo bc there’s too much personal info, but he very kindly asked how to spell my name in English seeing that I wasn’t Korean lol. He didn’t sign anything on closing night either so I was truly very lucky on the 25thđŸ„č honestly, I was just expecting to see the play but greeting the cast (more of them came out on closing night!) and even getting an autograph made it even more special hehe
The whole cast was incredible, I’ll remember these two performances for the rest of my life <3
Hey Harper!
I was wondering, what your thoughts are on mobility aids as a weapon in each context I've seen it applied to Ricky. Such as Ricky using them, having them in SABM, and even his own creative lore for the character of the space-age bachelor man in a fictitious context. With the issues connected to the trope, how do you feel context differs and affects it here with Ricky?
Thanks!
Hi, good question!
So, for the readers who might be missing context on what this ask means: there's a common idea in media, and in general, of mobility aids secretly being weapons. The most basic version of this is just, for example, whacking people with crutches. But there are more elaborate variations, mostly seen in fiction - seriously using a mobility aid as a weapon in a drawn-out fight, swords hidden in canes, even mobility aids that double as sci-fi weapons.
I've occasionally seen jokes about this in the RTC fandom, in relation to Ricky's mobility aids.
I don't think people often realise that this is an existing trope in media, or that it's an idea a lot of disabled people are frustrated with. I don't think it's inherently problematic to use this trope. In most cases, it's more a matter of personal taste than something objectively harmful.
I do think it's worth learning more about the trope before using it. Some examples of this idea are more respectful than others, and a lack of awareness can lead to people not realising how their ideas may be harmful.
Luckily, that's what this post is for!
So, to start:
Is it realistic for Ricky to use his mobility aids as weapons?
No, probably not.
It's not impossible, technically speaking. Canes and crutches are, essentially, just big sticks, and any stick could be used as a weapon. But the fact is that canes and crutches aren't batons - they're not designed to be used for combat, whatsoever. Whacking someone with a crutch in a moment of frustration, I'll buy, but I find it unrealistic & annoying for disabled characters to have a badass fight scene where they effortlessly fight off the bad guys with a cane.
(Swords-hidden-in-canes do exist, for the record - but they are more for novelty than for actual mobility. They're harder to access than regular canes, more likely to cause legal issues, and most importantly aren't good at supporting a person's weight to help them walk. I've also heard mixed reports on whether they work well as weapons. in short I don't think it would make sense for Ricky to have one.)
On top of the fact that mobility aids aren't designed to be useful in combat, you have to keep in mind that Ricky's disability affects his whole body. That would include his arms, which he's presumably using for this stick-wielding combat. It's easy to forget this with all the cool choreography he does in the musical - the premise of which, I'll remind you, involves him being capable of feats in the afterlife that he physically couldn't do in life - but since Ricky canonically has a disease that affects his whole body, most likely some sort of neuromuscular disease, we can assume he has muscle weakness in his arms. The idea that he would, in a moment of combat, suddenly turn out to be incredibly strong in order to defeat an antagonist - it just isn't realistic.
Again, a lot of these things are possible in real life - but I think they wouldn't make sense in most cases, and I also personally believe that it's generally a frustrating way of depicting disabilities.
Well, what if realism isn't a concern?
I think that, while this trope is generally pretty unrealistic, it can make sense in contexts where realism isn't the goal - for example, fantasy or sci-fi.
First of all: you should be very cautious taking a "it doesn't have to be realistic" stance in relation to depicting disability. This is a complex enough subject to potentially warrant its own post, but in short: if you're not including supernatural elements or something similar in your RTC fanworks, then you should be trying to portray Ricky's disability realistically, because if everything else is realistic then he should be too. If you are including supernatural elements, and there's some sort of reason for his disability to not affect him in a realistic way (i.e. "karnak removed his neuromuscular disease when he died"), you should still be making an active effort to think about how you're depicting this, and whether it would be upsetting to disabled people.
With that said - yeah, I can see this trope working in specific contexts. A full-on fight scene is unrealistic, but Ricky whacking an antagonist's leg with a crutch on his way past is something that could totally happen! Real crutches obviously don't shoot lasers that destroy furry alien spaceships, but in SABM they could! It even sounds like the sort of power fantasy that Ricky would write into his bachelor man fantasies.
But even in contexts where this trope completely makes sense... I still think it's one to tackle carefully. And there's a reason for that.
The Villainisation of Disabled People
I've spent all of this time talking about whether it would be realistic for Ricky to be capable of using his mobility aid as a weapon, but there's a more important question I've ignored: would this be in-character, for the character who has "The bachelor bible has just one commandment: don't be a dick" as one of his most important quotes?
Genuine question, by the way! Maybe it would be - I don't think it's inherently a "dick move" for a disabled person to act in self-defense. I don't even think it's necessarily that bad if, for example, a chronically ignored disabled character resorts to a method that can force people to listen to him. I'm sure there's situations - many of them - in which this sort of thing could totally make sense with Ricky's characterisation.
But the fact is - disabled people are automatically seen as aggressive, untrustworthy, and dangerous, moreso than able-bodied people. It's just a stereotype. The "mobility aid as a weapon" trope is part of this.
Ricky might be the only character in RTC who's in the habit of carrying (essentially) large sticks on him at all times, but he's certainly not the only character who's capable of grabbing a stick to use as a weapon. There are other characters who would be more physically capable of combat, or have personalities that make them seem more likely to resort to violence.
It's worth considering why "hitting people with sticks" is seen as something casual and funny to reference Ricky doing, whereas if (for example) Noel bought a large stick into choir to hit Ocean with, it would likely be taken seriously or at least seen as a bizarre thing to do. Is it because Ricky always has the "sticks" in question on him, so he doesn't have to actively prepare to hit people? Or is it because of a false idea that disabled people simply won't hesitate to hit people with our mobility aids?
This is unfortunately a very common idea in real life, and it impacts real disabled people. By default we are seen as more bitter or more aggressive than able-bodied people, and this idea is used to justify ostracising us as well as to discredit us when we make reasonable complaints about the way we're treated. But specifically, disabled people are often banned from using mobility aids, in specific contexts, because of this idea that we're likely to use them as weapons. In the worst-case scenario some people are even physically attacked, in some attempt at pre-emptive self-defense to stop them from potentially doing harm.
And all of this happens despite the fact that it doesn't make sense - mobility aids aren't very effective as weapons and a lot of us are less physically capable of combat! With all this harassment tied to something that so rarely happens in real life, you can understand how some of us are adamant about emphasising that it's not an accurate representation of us, even if it's technically possible.
None of this is to say that it's inherently problematic for Ricky to ever be violent, in any way. In fact, the other side of the "villainisation of disabled people" issue is that, when we're not seen as automatically more likely to become violent, we're seen as less justified when we do resort to violence. Self-defense is not a dick move, and neither is - situationally - a moment of anger, considering Ricky canonically deals with a lot of ableism.
It's a complex subject. I think you should depict it carefully. I'm willing to give advice on how to do so, for anyone's fic or art - just shoot me a DM with more context and I'll tell you my thoughts!
But in cases where there isn't more context in a serious depiction, and people are just offhandedly referencing Ricky hitting people like it's a given that he would do that... you're potentially referencing a lot here without meaning to, and the joke is a little overdone. I'm not saying to never make the joke. Just to maybe cool down on it a bit.
Sometimes a crutch can just be a crutch
One of the things that bothers me most about the constant "you can use your mobility aid as a weapon" jokes is that, I think sometimes they come from a place of wanting to deny what a mobility aid is. That is - a device that allows a disabled person to get around easier. I think sometimes people are uncomfortable with that, because they're uncomfortable with disabled people in general. And sometimes people deal with that discomfort by pretending, jokingly or not, that a mobility aid is actually for some other purpose.
Frankly - the (false!) idea that mobility aid users are usually carrying big sticks which they intend to use as weapons? That should make you more uncomfortable than the reality, which is just that people are carrying them around to walk with.
I think a lot of the time when people turn fictional mobility aids into something other than just mobility aids, it's an attempt to make them cooler, or more interesting. And this can make sense in some contexts... but why should Ricky's crutches be modified to make them cooler, when other important props aren't?
Ricky's mobility aids are already pretty damn cool and interesting - they let him move around! If he didn't have access to them, he might have severely limited mobility. That's pretty cool to me.
Idk. I'm sure this trope can make sense and be done well in some contexts. But it's just a little overdone.
Is Dick Grayson actually a playboy? I’ve always been a Jason girl but I’m getting into Dick. There’s some debate about his playboy ways being fanon or canon like here
https://www.tumblr.com/robxstar/632261873330421760/is-richard-grayson-actually-a?source=share
Post link
I think playboy Dick is a great example of how complicated comic "canon" can get because you get so many different people interpreting and writing the same character so as readers we often have to be selective about the kind of character we personally shape them into.
Personally I agree with the OP and I'd say that playboy Dick isn't his true characterization and it's also pretty unimaginative. (I think making male characters playboys/promiscuous in general is overdone, but whatever. Different post lol).
The point OP made about DC writers trying to make Dick into Batman-lite is also really important because yes definitely! Batman-adjacent characters often have trouble escaping his shadow and having their own personality (the irony!)
In a similar example, you might see Jason being characterized as flirty and a wisecracker/jokey. While Jason can be humorous, it's not in a friendly way. Dude is off putting! Dramatic! Introverted! Does not know the touch of a woman (or man)! And I don't think he's flirty at all. When comic writers do that to him it's sooo OOC and forced. Jason sleeping with Kori in RHATO for example is bizarre. I've seen the point made that, for Jason at least, sometimes writers will have him absorb another character's traits instead of giving him his own personality. Roy Harper I think would be one - flirty and humorous in an outgoing way is HIS personality, but for some reason, people give Jason his traits.
Anyway, got distracted by my boy... it's totally up to you what you take from canon. Sometimes DC writers are super weird about some characters and many of them don't believe in continuity.
Tldr: no I don't think Dick is a playboy and DC writers get lazy and weird about characterizations.
[id: a ship chart made by Stervil on tumblr, detailing ships between the minecraft story mode cast. In the corner is directions to what the colored lines used in the chart mean: Red for OTP, Pink for Love, Green for Like, Yellow for Okay, Blue for dislike, Darker blue for IDK, and grey for Hate. The chart is mostly unfilled by lines, instead being filled by text giving opinions on certain ships. The text all reads as follows: Jesstra, Marked as red: IF i have jesstra marked as an OTP on here i think you already know how i feel about it. no jesstra fans are normal about those two. Lukas x Axel, marked as pink: i have so much to say about lukas x axel and how they'd interact but i also don't know how to start talking about them. Lukas x Aiden, marked as "I don't know": i feel like lukas x aiden only makes sense if they're exes but outside of that nuh uh Soren x Ivor, marked as yellow: i think it's ok but again i only imagine them as exes and i dont think they'd get back together. Hadrian x Mevia marked as yellow: i'm overall neutral on these two but i couldn't stop calling them "toxic straight people" when playing their episode for the first time. you can HEAR the "ball and chain" and "wine mom" jokes. Radar X PAMA, marked as yellow: i honestly see them as moreso being friends but shoutout to the person who ships these two/pos Jack x Nurm, marked as pink: they're like canonically married to me. if i dont ship them, it feels like im helping them sign their divorce papers. All of the admins x each other, marked as grey: i don't like any of them together because i feel like they genuinely make more sense as just friends. i can't see them as anything more because it'd feel ooc The only ships with no text but still have colored markings are Axel x Olivia, which is "I don't know", Harper x Ivor, which is pink, and Cassie x Nell, which is green. end id]
wanted to do a ship chart, but in a slight unorthodox fashion by giving my opinions on the chart. i feel like it'd be a little bland otherwise 😭i don't have a lot of ships in minecraft story mode but i do find some stuff people do with the characters really fun.
edit: forgot to link the original post with the blank versions of the meme. so sorgee
some other notes:
fred and binta is another ship i don't like. only because i view that it'd be more compelling if binta was fred's daughter, who despite her complicated relationship with her father, is trying to preserve the memory of him.
i don't ship jesse x lukas, i moreso view lukas as someone who loves his friends a whole lot and does anything he can to protect all of them. but i love jesskas fanart its really cute :-]
i don't really ship any of the order, but i feel soren and gabriel having an odd situationship would be fun.
i don't like r0messe for a similar reason as the admins; i think they'd make more sense as friends. no hate to anyone who likes them im just a friendship enjoyer
i think ellegaurde and xara are pretty cute together i just forgot to add that...
i see jesse as nonbinary or just generally not cis in both clip and suspender form. the reason petra x clip jesse is marked as OTP and petra x suspender jesse is marked as pink... its primarly because i prefer yellow clip jesse's actor in most jesstra scenes. but either way petra is GAAAYY
axel and olivia i CANNOT envision in a romantic relationship those are BESTIES. those are PALS those are BUDDIES those are AMIGOS. don't take this away from them.
What are your favorite Roy Harper centered fan fictions?
I’ve already answered asks similar to this before, so I’m just gonna link them :) you can find an assorted collection of Arrowfam fics here, and some other primarily-arrowfam fics but with more Roy-centricity here!
And a few others I haven’t (or, I’m pretty sure I haven’t) recced before are Don’t touch my hair- this one is Jade focused instead of Roy focused, and I know you asked for Roy centric fics but I can’t not link this beautiful work by my amazing mutual @ambrozians, plus Roy does guest star in it. Also Wrestle with my thoughts, shake the hand of doubt and Drugs and punks and blood on the street (blood on her knees, bloody history), two really great Roy hurt/comfort fics featuring the fab five by @multifandom-damnation
Hope this is enough!
Sly 2’s 20th anniversary got me deep in my mental illness again LMFAO here’s a lil family tree for my Sly Cooper AU featuring updated versions of my sona’s parents (albeit their “anthro” versions) and Arpeggio’s!
I always felt as though Arpeggio’s father would have been named after a musical term or something based in music, and I chose Forte as it means “to be played loudly”, and parrots are LOUD so I just thought it was right LOL. I originally called Arpeggio’s mom “Hazel” because I love that name and I had also just watched Watership Down for the first time when I initially came up with Arpeggio’s parents. Roughly five years ago though, I thought Harper to be a more fitting name, as her and her son’s name would then have similar roots (arpeggio comes from ‘arpeggiare’ meaning “to play the harp”; a harper is one who plays a harp).
In my AU (working out a label for it) Arpeggio does eventually reunite with his parents after ceasing contact with them prior to joining the Klaww Gang. With some budging by his wife (yours truly 😘), Arpeggio decides to maintain loose contact with his parents upon them meeting again. Since the events of Sly 2 do not occur, the Plumeworths never discover their son or daughter in law’s criminal activities and it’s all pretty chill! Maybe a lil tense tho.
I’m a slowburn girlie like you’re a slowburn girlie. Any book recs?! Just getting back into reading again đŸ€“ Actually obsessed with sitq and need something so I’m not focusing on when the next update will come 💀
Okay here are some of my favorites from the last couple years:
I always recommend Throne of Glass. A lot of people say to start with ACOTAR if you’re going to read Sarah J. Maas but I think TOG is her most consistent in terms of plot and characterization. And it’s completed
The Coven and The Cursed by Harper L. Woods. The villain love interest stays a villain the entire time and he’s SO HOT. It’s a completed duology but it’s set up for more books with other couples in the same world (editing this to say I read these as indies last year but they’ve been picked up by a publisher since. I don’t think you can get physical copies right now but they do seem to still be on KU)
Assistant to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer is cute and fun! Slow burn and pretty light-hearted, but it is only the first book of a series and the next comes out later this year
If you like contemporary romance (slight paranormal themes) then The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston broke my heart and put it back together several times. One of my favorite books of all time. But it does deal pretty heavily with themes of parental loss and grief if that’s not your jam
One Dark Window/Two Twisted Crowns by Rachel Gillig. Very little spice but it’s a fascinating world and magic system and I loved it way more than I expected to!
Similar vibes to the above, For the Wolf and For the Throne by Hannah Whitten. Cottagecore but make it bloody (I also recommend The Foxglove King by her, but it’s only the first in an incomplete trilogy)
The Serpent and the Wings of Night and The Ashes and the Star-cursed King by Carissa Broadbent. Enemies to lovers to enemies to lovers. There’s sexy blood drinking. If you want more than that I can’t help you
I know a couple of these are pretty standard recs but hopefully there is something in here for you!! Happy reading đŸ„°
