Bat-Family Nicknames and Insults
So I went off the other day because fans keep having people who aren't Roy Harper call Jason Todd "Jaybird" and now I'm thinking about all the other nickname misconceptions so here's a probably non-comprehensive list of nicknames among the Bat Fam.
(Special thanks to @sohotthateveryonedied for a bunch of my data, she made a whole powerpoint with actual comic panels! Go check that out! Also got some info from @kiragecko who was writing some lists with more specific references.)
This list is an active document and will be edited in the event I find more nicknames or have more to say
Addendum note: I'm more than willing to add something I forgot, but you must have receipts. I'm not just going off of memory. Nothing will be added to this list without proof. If you don't have a source, please don't make a suggestion.
This is aside from assorted common insults and nicknames like jerk, ass, shorty, dude, idiot, etc.. Sidenote, every not-Steph Robin has been called ā€œLittle Birdā€, ā€œBirdboyā€ and/or ā€œWonder Boyā€ at some point. Itā€™s kinda part of the job lol Secondary side-note, the only ones who REALLY use nicknames for people are Barbara and Jason. And Tim specifically in reference to Damian. Everyone else pretty much uses their names 98% of the time. Final note (sorryyyyyy) generally unless they're funny to me, I'm not including things used only once unless I have gotten vibes that it's a trend. This is an attempt to compile recurring nicknames. So ones noted to be used once are either I can only confirm it happened once but could happen multiple times, or I think it's hilarious.
Alfred Pennyworth
Al/Alf Seems to be a common nickname among the boys.
Alfie Dick, Tim, and Jason have all called him this.
Alfredo Jason called him this at least once and I think thatā€™s funny. Not sure itā€™s exclusive though.
Mom Dick seems to have referred to him as such onceā€¦Iā€™m sorry but thatā€™s so funny.
Alfred also has specific ways of referring to everyone: Bruce: Master Bruce, Mister Wayne, Lad, Bruce, My Son Barbara: Mistress Barbara, Miss Barbara, Miss Gordon, Miss Oracle Dick: Master Dick, Master Richard, Master Grayson, Dear Boy, Young Sir, Young Man, Richard, Dick Cassandra: Miss Cassandra, Young Cassandra, My Dear Jason: Master Jason, Young Sir, Lad, Jason Tim: Master Tim, Master Timothy, Young Master Tim, Lad, Young Sir, Young Man, Timothy, Tim Damian: Master Damian, Young Master Damian, Young Sir, Young Man, Son, Damian
Bruce Wayne
Spooky Oliver Queen calls him this, others might as well but I legitimately have no idea.
Batsy Everyone and their goddamn dog, but Joker uses this notably a lot.
Detective RA'S AL GHUL EXCLUSIVE. I think? But this is how Ra's generally refers to Bruce.
B-Man HARLEY QUINN EXCLUSIVE...I think. She calls him this a lot though.
While Dick and Jason will internally think of Bruce as their father, Dick rarely says so and extremely rarely calls him ā€œDadā€. Jason would only say so mockingly or under pain of a second death. Tim rarely even thinks of Bruce as his father (he didnā€™t become Robin to be Bruceā€™s kid, and he doesnā€™t want to replace his own fatherā€”much the same way Dana didnā€™t replace Janet) and never refers to him as such outside of WE work (where he very much uses that to his advantage). Damian almost exclusively refers to Bruce as ā€œFatherā€ but has called him "Dad". Steph sometimes calls him ā€œBossā€. Everyone usually calls him "Bruce".
He refers to ALL of the boys as ā€œchumā€ and ā€œladā€ at some point. Itā€™s just how he used to talk honestly. He DOES NOT call them ā€œsweetieā€ or ā€œhoneyā€ or anything like that. He DOES, however, speak to small children this way. There are multiple instances of him using "sweetheart" and similar terms when dealing with young children. This differentiation I think is for two reasons. One, Bruce is emotionally stunted and being open with anyone outside of actively comforting is difficult for him, and two, the youngest child he has ever had himself was 9 years old so he's never had a small child he'd be likely more inclined to be extra super soft with.
Barbara Gordon
Babs Most people call her this. Bruce doesnā€™t seem to though, oddly enough.
Babsy/Babsie Both Dick and Jim Gordon have called her this. Very cute.
Barb/Barbie Nearly exclusive to Jason Todd, actually. I think her dad calls her this once in a while, but specifically Jason calls her this.
Babes A few of her friends call her this, but mostly Luke Fox when they were dating.
Red A few people call her this, but mostly Jason and not real often. Probably cuz we already have a red-head often referred to as ā€œRedā€ (Pam Isely by Harley) and as to not be confused with the other two Reds in the family (Red Hood and Red Robin).
The High Priestess of Tech More of a reference than a nickname, but I think itā€™s funny. Dick referred to her as such.
O For Oracle!
Dick Grayson Exclusives because Boyfriend Baby Love Beautiful
Richard Grayson
Dick Everyone calls him this. Almost no one calls him Richard.
Dickie His parents also called him this, along with other people who knew him from Halyā€™s Circus, but otherwise itā€™s mostly just Jason.
Dickster Iā€¦hate that this is canon lmao. Dick has thought this one in his inner monologue, but Jason has also said it at least once. Itā€™sā€¦Something.
Circus Boy Common insult, Jason uses it a few times.
Tight Ass No comment.
Rob Kinda rare for him and more a Tim thing, but his Titans team call him this sometimes. I specifically remember Wally doing so, and Roy too I think.
Boy Wonderful Not marking this as exclusive because Babs probably used it at one point but, shockingly (or not) this comes from Wally West! Wally has also called his Titans team as a group ā€œDear Heartsā€ at least once which is just so fucking cute. Neeeeeerd.
Kid Not exclusive to him, but consistently called this by Slade Wilson/Deathstroke over most anything else.
Marcia TIM DRAKE EXCLUSIVE. A joke between him and Tim, assigning each Bat-boy a Brady Bunch member.
Little Robin MARY GRAYSON EXCLUSIVE. This is where the hero name Robin came from; Dickā€™s mom used to call him this.
Dickie-Bird JASON TODD EXCLUSIVE. Jason calls Dick this a lot during his weird appearances in Nightwing that I pretend never happened because it was weird and dumb. But it is a canonical nickname. And itā€™s funny.
Amy Rohrbach Exclusives because Partner Rookie Stud Cowboy Sherlock Mr. Confident
Barbara Gordon Exclusives because Girlfriend (and because sheā€™s funny) Flatterer Boyfriend The Brightest, Sweetest, Most Handsome, Wealthiest Young Bachelor on the Entire East Coast Buckaroo Bucko Candy-Gram Darling Lover Love Hunk Wonder Man Wonder Hound Wonder Former Teen Wonder Twenty Something Wonder Blue Wonder Poor Lovable NaĆÆve Dope Pixie Boots
Cassandra Cain
Cass Pretty much everyone calls her this.
Cassie Some people call her this, specifically the people closest to her; Stephanie, Tim, Barbara, Bruce, and Duke. Itā€™s generally used sparingly, especially considering Tim is close to ANOTHER Cassandra who goes by ā€œCassieā€ almost exclusively, so Cass is generally preferred to avoid confusion. But Cassie is tossed around.
Batghoul Possibly Stephanie Brown exclusive, though easy enough that I wouldnā€™t be surprised if others called her that. She is notoriously spooky.
Bat-Babe KON-EL/CONNER KENT EXCLUSIVE. These two are actually good friends and dated for a short time. Theyā€™re very cute. And they met at the time Kon was justā€¦Like That.
Jason Todd
Jay Literally everyone calls him this sometimes. Itā€™s a common nickname.
Jace/Jase Also pretty common, but seems to mostly be among family. Dick and Bruce have at least both called him this.
The Toddster Was called such by Danny Chase, implying they were friends somehow? (Jason didn't have many Titans missions so idk how they were close enough for him to call him that). He calls him that when he discovers Jasonā€™s status in the system is ā€œunknownā€, leading him to find out heā€™s dead.
Rojo Referred to himself as this once while he was still a crime boss, so presumably some of his gang called him this too. Obviously Spanish for red because Red Hood.
Little Bird Possibly exclusive to Barbara Gordon, she called him this in a flashback.
Jan That Dick and Tim Brady Bunch joke. Just imagine one of them looking Jason dead in the eye and saying ā€œSure, Jan.ā€
Little Wing DICK GRAYSON EXCLUSIVE. Called Robin Jason this in Nightwing Year 1 and itā€™s very cute.
Jaybird ROY HARPER EXCLUSIVE. The reason Iā€™m making this post because no one seems to remember that Roy and only Roy has ever called Jason this. But any time these two appear together, itā€™s usually said at least once.
Stephanie Brown
Steph Pretty much everyone calls her this at one point.
Stephie A few people if I recall, but I know Timā€™s called her that.
Blondie Pretty sure a few people call her this, but notably Harper Row.
Damian Wayne Exclusives because He Was A Brat Wench Fatgirl Girl Blunder
Timothy Drake
Tim Everyone to the point where itā€™s just his name.
Timmy A lot of people call him this pretty teasingly. Dick, Jason, and Babs do it consistently, but thatā€™s older siblings for ya. Bernard has done it too.
Timbo Dick and Jason as well as his friend Ives have called Tim this at the very least. Tim notably doesn't seem to like it, though he has used it himself in a derogatory way in his inner monologue.
Timbers Iā€™ve only ever seen Jason call him this, but I could be missing things. Would not be surprised if Dick did too, but itā€™s very Jason.
Rob Most of Young Justice called him that up until he revealed his name (which took a while because Bruce was being controlling and overprotective, as he does). Short for ā€œRobinā€, obviously, which is all they knew him as.
My Robin Iā€™m pretty sure each member of Young Justice has said this about Tim, though Conner does it the most and has the biggest negative reaction to literally anyone but Tim being Robin.
Cindy DICK GRAYSON EXCLUSIVE. Itā€™s that Brady Bunch joke again!
Little Brother DICK GRAYSON EXCLUSIVE. I didn't originally include it because it had the same vibes as like "dude" or "jerk"; something that's easily tossed around, y'know? And it feels like a descriptor, but it is actually used as a title/nickname several times, especially when Dick is messing with Tim.
Pretender JASON TODD EXCLUSIVE. Though it should be noted, he only directly called him this one time. Aside from that, he more refers to Tim as A pretender, not as like a nickname or title. Itā€™s a description. (like ā€œreplacementā€ was but fandom made that a nickname yes I am in fact bitter)
Duckboy HARLEY QUINN EXCLUSIVE. She says this once, but itā€™s hilarious so Iā€™m keeping it.
Detective RAā€™S AL GHUL EXCLUSIVE. Raā€™s is very particular about titles. The only other person he refers to as ā€œDetectiveā€ is Bruce, and Dick one time in his internal monologue, so he is acknowledging Timā€™s competence. And then proceeds to get a large portion of his resources obliterated by Tim <3
Stephanie Brown Exclusives because Girlfriend Sweetie Muffin Boy Virgin
Duke Thomas
Narrows Almost Jason exclusively, though I think Harper has called him this once or twice. In reference to the neighborhood he grew up in, as opposed to Jason and Harper's Park Row aka Crime Alley upbringing.
Newbie Jason calls him this frequently, though it's likely the others have too.
Baby Bird ELAINE THOMAS EXCLUSIVE. Yeah, surprisingly Duke is actually called this by his mom.
Damian Wayne
Gremlin Mostly exclusive to Tim, but Jason has called him this too. This also seems to be Timā€™s go-to for Damian when not using his name or codename.
Dami Used by Jon Kent and Talia al Ghul, so presumably those closest to him.
Little D I think Barbara Gordon exclusive but Iā€™m not sure.
Cousin Oliver Not said to his face to my knowledge, but the Brady Bunch in-joke between Dick and Tim.
Prince/Your Highness (other royal variations) A common way to mock Damian for his haughty air and stuck-up attitude. More common in the past because Damian was The Worst and never shut up about being the heir to Batman and the Demon's Head. He's grown a lot since then and this kind of joke is used less. He is still pretty snooty though.
D JON KENT EXCLUSIVE. I have yet to see anyone else call him this at least, and this is how Jon almost always refers to him.
Baby Bird TALIA AL GHUL EXCLUSIVE. Iā€™ve seen her call him this once, and I donā€™t recall ever seeing anyone else call him this. Just wanted it known that Talia is the only one to call Damian this.
Tim Drake Exclusives because Tim is Petty and Damian was a Brat Little Monster Hobbit Homunculus Little snot Spoiled, vicious and homicidal little punk Heir to the Kingdom of the Damned
Note on how Damian refers to others: Damian usually uses full first names or surnames, depending on circumstance and closeness. He occasionally calls Dick ā€œDickā€ or ā€œRichardā€, but often calls him ā€œGraysonā€. He almost always refers to Tim as ā€œDrakeā€, but occasionally as ā€œTimothyā€.
Fanon names that I dislike
Replacement Jason never once calls Tim this, and refers to Tim as A replacement about as much as Dick did about Jason (Yes Dick has at least once when talking to Bruce referred to Jason as his replacement). How common it is in this fandom to call Tim "Replacement" (with a capital R like it's a name or title!!!) drives me absolutely insane. It's not canon and tbh you can do better. Hell, "pretender" is right there! And Jason's a nerd, he would do better.
Baby Bird Likeā€¦itā€™s cute, but given itā€™s used in fanon almost exclusively for Tim, and POST DAMIAN, it just feels infantalizing. Especially when the only canon uses are mothers towards their kids. I see this a lot with Dick and Jason using it, which is...just no. Like, Dick, I get it, but he's more likely to call Tim "Little Brother". Jason would never allow himself to be seen as this soft to Tim. If he were trying to be gentle with him, he'd probably call him "kid". He's done that before.
Baby Bat(s) I have seen this used literally twice. Once where a goon mockingly called Tim that, and once in an AU where Harley said it to Damian. "Baby Bat" isn't a thing. Sorry.
Big Bird More amusing than anything but a little annoying. No one ever calls Dick that in canon and whenever I read it all I can think of is Sesame Street so unless a giant yellow muppet bird is what you're going for, maybe don't do that lol
Demon Brat/Demon Spawn Not the most egregious thing, especially considering the numerous nicknames Tim comes up with, but the consistency of its usage in fanon is a little frustrating. This is never used in-canon, and if you want to use it in your fanworks, just maybe intersperse it with other more creative nicknames, yeah? It's just unoriginal at this point.
Jaylad I donā€™t hate this one, but itā€™s such a huge misconception that itā€™s canon. Bruce has said ā€œJay, ladā€ a couple times because he calls like every boy he meets ā€œladā€ and people made up ā€œJayladā€. Not the worst thing ever, but it's not canon.
Golden Boy I don't actually have a problem with this one, but I may as well clear up that this is canon as a descriptor but not as a nickname for Dick. Like calling Jason "the dead Robin". Like, people have said that about him in-canon, but they haven't called him that. The common derivative "Goldie" is entirely fanon.
Non-canon nicknames I think are funny
Dick-face/Dickhead Iā€™m sorry, I find it hilarious whenever someone (usually Jason) in fanfic calls him this. Itā€™s also to me just a silly exaggeration of the obvious joke that has been made at least once (but probably several times by now) in canon about someone being about to call Nightwing a dick and someone else reminding them not to use names in the field. I think itā€™s hilarious.
Timberly I canā€™t tell you why this specific deviation of Tim is funny to me but it is. And I'm surprised I haven't seen Jason call Tim this in canon.

I know you've all been waiting for this one: Sum of Our Parts (yes I finally got to Meghan Fitzmartin).
The very first thing I'll say: yeah, I see why DC commissioned more stuff from her after getting this and seeing the response. It's a solid opening showing her ability to write Tim.
There were a lot of moving parts that needed to be re-established and tidied up in this story, and I can see the list being worked through:-
Name: being very clear Tim is currently Robin, because since Tynion's 'Tec run ended, his name and costume have been varying by who is writing him with very little consistency.
Tim not going to university: this probably did need a push back on, because Tynion just waved the door open on that again during Joker War.
The fact that Tim and Steph are broken up (sort of essential for the plot being told)
Playing with the themes of moving on from Robin (but in this case using it as a frame to actually be the bait and switch that it's coming out instead)
Bernard is clearly an OC from the ground up who shares a name and hair colour with his previous existence. Which, look, Bernard was a pretty thin character with basically two personality traits (conspiracy theorist/trying really hard to project cool), and it is of course fairly arguable that Bernard was projecting a front at 16 that he no longer needs now he's accepted his identity. But it would be nice to have that conveyed in the text, rather than something you infer to try and connect two characters who are otherwise unalike. Especially given how much of the story is Tim reflecting on himself.
Even a line or two more about how he doesn't feel the need for a front anymore to line up with Tim having revelations. "Tell Tim Drake...he helped me realise my true self. Who I am" is nice enough but it could still use some more acknowledgement of how that changed his personality. It's just this nice parallel that could have helped develop the themes more securely. There's a bunch of possible implications you can read into the story (particularly in terms of how the Dowd parents really ARE characterised lightly as Fanon Drakes, between the polite fronts and implications that Bernard was previously abused at home in this) and this is one of the things that while I don't mind how much of this story Fitzmartin was telling via implication, a few more concrete things confirmed would have helped.
If I were going to make a solid stab of a guess at what sections of Robin Fitzmartin liked/reread in the lead into writing this, I honestly think it was Fabian Nicieza's Robin run (and probably parts of Red Robin). It's just...a lot of the characterisation has some very similar notes to it. Tim's got the same sort of smug confident edge to his internal commentary, the ways his skills are portrayed, and Detective Williams even reminds me quite a bit of Officer Jamie Harper. (I don't think she actually looked back over Willingham).
It's also very much a coming out story, and I do appreciate in that Fitzmartin does try to be delicate about it and doesn't whack you over the head with the bluntest lines possible (I just suffered through that in Infinite Frontier #0 with Alan Scott and good god did I cringe the entire way through the 'yes while you are my biological children and I have indeed been married. to women. I am gay. Listen to me come out.'), the amount of implied themes she levels through it is still substantial. It could have used slightly more focus on the actual underlying mystery.
I can also see the start of the situation where the story needs to decide whether Bernard Knows or Doesn't Know. Because both states would allow for situations with a lot of drama (and potentially identity shenanigans which are the best shenanigans), but just having it as sort of vacillating in the middle as something that doesn't need to be investigated? It's leaving a lot of potential storytelling on the floor that could instead be used to send Tim through the wringer. (Also Tim wow half of that cult probably could have figured out your identity, you weren't subtle)
Look, I don't think this story contained the greatest Barbara Gordon characterisation ever written, but it was within the bounds of overly-interfering, self-righteous and pushy Babs, which is something that does pop up at times. It felt in conversation with her characterisation in Batgirl 2009, and while I don't LIKE the way Babs is written in it, especially in regards to Steph, it makes sense in terms of the direction DC was pivoting at this point in terms of leading into the whole Batgirls title.
Fitzmartin was also clearly using Steph characterisation from very late Robin/BFTC/start of Red Robin, when they were fighting, in terms of how she's trying to have Steph needle at Tim's sore points, and set up a dichotomy of 'Steph has it together/Tim does not'.
And yes, BelƩn Ortega's art is very, VERY pretty.

Hello ! I'm slowly but surely getting into Green Arrow comics and Roy appears fairly often but not much enough yet that I can get his personality that well. So, I wanted to ask - and I know it probably changed throughout the years, but - how would you describe him at his core ? What kind of guy is he ? His values ? (Is he into leftist and ecological ideologies like Ollie ? etc.)
Thank you for your help !
Hi, thanks for the ask friend!
Iā€™m gonna answer the easiest question first which is his politics- yes, he very much is a leftist like Ollie. Iā€™m just gonna show this one panel
Tumblr media
And I donā€™t think I really need to elaborate more. Heā€™s just like his dad.
As for who Roy is as a character, I donā€™t think it has really changed that much, at least before the New 52 his characterisation was pretty consistent. Royā€™s always been someone who is very much fuelled by his relationships with others and his love for those closest to him. Most notably his love for Lian has always been a huge motivator for him since her introduction- a lot of the time sheā€™s very much the thing keeping him alive, with at least two instances where Roy refuses to give up because if he died Lian would be alone. He also has similar love for the rest of the Arrow family- he was snapped out of brainwashing because he refused to kill Ollie, heā€™s always had an incredibly close relationship with Dinah ever since Snowbirds (I would highly recommend reading Arsenal 1998 and Vixen: Return of the Lion for them), heā€™s fiercely protective of Mia and yelled at Ollie when he found out she was gonna become Speedy, and he gave Connor what was essentially an ace acceptance speech decades before Connor was canonically asexual, for some examples.
Heā€™s also an incredibly forgiving person, and he wears his heart on his sleeve a lot of the time. Itā€™s something that definitely came about more heavily after Lian was born (which personally I chalk up to his acknowledgement that she was gonna change him + his promise that heā€™d never lie to her- promising to be honest and open with his child made him a more open and honest person in general), and itā€™s SUCH a crucial part of his character. When Roy has feelings, he expresses them loudly and immediately and then moves on most of the time- which is why when Roy and the rest of the Fab Five were stuck on an island designed specifically to bring up grudges and resentments Roy was really the only one who wasnā€™t that affected- all of his grievances were in response to things that were actively happening in the moment while others had let things fester for a while. It also does make the few moments were he does hide his emotions more poignant, particularly in his relationship with Donna in Titans 1999 (which I would very very highly recommend you read, itā€™s the jackpot for Roy Harper characterisation.)
And I know itā€™s very cliche to say about a superhero because duh, heā€™s a hero, but Roy is so good. He tends to get the reputation as the bad boy of the Titans, which I do get, but at his heart Roy is a hero through and through, not just because he saves the day but because he cares so, so much and the best example of that is through his interactions with kids/teenagers. The most notable example that comes to mind is Grant Emerson- Roy was really one of the first adults in Grantā€™s life who genuinely cared about him and his wellbeing, andā€¦ yā€™know what, Iā€™m just gonna show this page off again because I will never stop talking about it
Tumblr media
Again, highly recommend reading Titans 1999 for Roy and Grant because theyā€™re genuinely one of my favourite father/son-adjacent relationships in any media ever- also recommend Royā€™s Titans run for them, oh and if you wanna know more about Grant by himself you should read Damage 1994 :)
Oh and also Roy is lame. An absolute loser. He quotes Friends to try and flirt with women. I hate him.

Dr Apollo (Medical Malpractice 2)
You are inside the hospital foyer. You are injured! ++stress
The door swings open, to reveal a person with pink hair. This must be the doctor you were told about. They look at you boredly and click their tongue when they see your wound. They lead you into the room.
"Hello, I'm Doctor Apollo." They say, pulling on some gloves and ushering you to lay down on the bed in the corner. "This should be a quick procedure since your cut isn't too bad." They lean over you, working so fast you can't properly register their movements. +pain
Eventually they stop, you now wear a bandage. They poke around the wound. ++pain
"Does this hurt?"
Yes <<
No +++pain
"Good." They nod. "If that cut becomes infected or you get hurt again, please visit Doctor Harper or myself, I'll be here on days when Harper isn't here. I have a feeling you know when those are."
They sit back on their chair, rolling to the desk and typing on their computer. Looks like you're dismissed.
Tumblr media
Uses they/them pronouns
Pretty short, maybe around 5'2
They have an obsession with Harper, somewhat similar to Kylar in that regard
Also fixated on the limits of the human body i.e. parasites, organs and procedures of questionable morality.
There are ways to initiate encounters with them, they're just really weird. And cagey. And kind of unsexy.
Special Stat: Hatred
Works like jealousy, when the player indulges Harper while Apollo's around, their hatred will increase- there is also a chance that it will increase regardless of if they are there (seeing the evidence)
They are able to hide their disdain for the player up until a point (>75% hatred)
Before this, they treat the pc with neutrality and seem pretty professional apart from stray comments about 'the flexibility of the player's canals'.
However, at this amount of hatred an event will happen where the pc will either pass out, be knocked out or kidnapped. They will wake up in a brightly lit room that they recognise as at the hospital though they're unsure of the exact location (+stress). Apollo will be looming over them with a smile that doesn't quite reach their eyes. They will proceed to poke at cuts and bruises that weren't there before resulting in +++pain and ++stress, they'll be muttering under their breath. Eventually they speak up and ask how the player feels, not waiting for a response before they dig their nails into an open wound (++++pain ++stress) this will go on until the pc is at max pain to which they will respond with "good" as usual. They don't explain themself very well, simply telling the player that they're 'worried' for them and Harper and that the player should maybe avoid the other doctor for a while. Responding requires extremely high willpower and is not guaranteed, succeeding will allow the player to either nod or refuse.
Nodding will lower Apollo's hatred: "Thank you, I knew you were a reasonable person." Then they will release you without further fuss, telling the pc to 'keep an eye on their injuries'. These cuts and such will last around 3 days and increase stress occasionally, unlocking some interactions with love interests who react differently depending on their stats.
Refusing will anger Apollo, increasing their hatred by a substantial amount. Apollo will press a needle to the player's neck, saying that the player is lucky they haven't killed them yet (+++stress). There will be a noise outside the door an Apollo will perk up a bit. Their face will be unreadable as they turn back to the player, stabbing the needle into the pc's arm and injecting some kind of sedative.
Whether the player refuses or is unable to respond, they will wake up in the industrial alley inside of a dumpster with a strange wriggling in their stomach/without any clothes on.
This event changes based off of how many times it has occurred and will eventually stop appearing, there will be other consequences.
Tumblr media
Meeting Apollo will make different procedures in the hospital available i.e. abortions, decreasing/increasing tf points (so long as the player has visited them before with the full transformation and allowed them to take a sample of their blood or something) and can make the player immediately sober up along with other things I haven't thought of yet.
Their post-appointment notes differ with how many parasites the player has given birth to. The player can view these through a mid skullduggery check
0: "Absolutely not. No flexibility."
1-5: "Could possibly be a vessel in the future, not suitable at this time."
6-10: "A very viable choice, however the subject could be injured, not ideal. Wait for further changes."
11+: They may proposition you for a 'test' of sorts, they remain purposely vague but may cave under an english check, in which case they tell the player that they have been looking for a suitable 'incubator' for a parasite they've been observing. This is completely optional and there will be no impact if the player declines. If the player agrees, their hatred will decrease and they will seem almost excited. The player will be put under anaesthesia and awaken to an almost bloated feeling that Apollo assures them will pass, the player will be asked to return to the hospital at least monthly for check ups.
There is an odd chance that while in the hospital, the player will see a room splattered in red and white, a pink flash will be visible before the door is closed. (+stress)
Just a very stress inducing person.

Do you have any book recs for romance or romantasy for someone who just canā€™t get over the post fourth wing reading slump? (and who has read basically everything on ao3 and absolutely loves the masterpiece that is sitq) šŸ„°
A lot of people move on to Sarah J. Maas and really love it! I donā€™t think theyā€™re quite the same vibe as FW, but similar enough! A Court of Thorns and Roses is her most popular series, but Throne of Glass is my personal favorite (and the only one of her three series thatā€™s completed).
I also love The Serpent & the Wings of Night (Carissa Broadbent), One Dark Window (Rachel Gillig), and A Darker Shade of Magic (VE Schwab). The Coven by Harper L. Woods is more paranormal/dark romance but I really liked the morally gray MMC. I just finished The Games Gods Play by Abigail Owen and liked it pretty well, too! For cozier romance, I really liked Emily Wildeā€™s Encylopaedia of Faeries.
If youā€™re into YA, an oooold favorite (like, 90s/early 2000s lol) is the Night World series by LJ Smith. Itā€™s been a while since I read them all so maybe they donā€™t all hold up as well as I remember, but theyā€™re soulmate tropes, interconnected standalones in the same world. And theyā€™re quick and easy reads.
As for contemporary romance, some of my favorites are Love, Theoretically (Ali Hazelwood), The Dead Romantics (Ashley Poston) and You With a View (Jessica Joyce). Mariana Zapata writes veryyyy slow burn romance, but Iā€™ve only read From Lukov With Love and When Gracie Met the Grump (and liked them both).
And for good measure, a few books I havenā€™t read yet but have heard good things about and plan to get to by the end of the year: The Crimson Moth (or Heartless Hunter, depending on where you are I think?), The Courting of Bristol Keats, and The Book of Azrael.
Thank you!!! šŸ„¹šŸ«¶šŸ»

Woo, the ask box is open again!! Been wanting to ask about any alternatives to Call of Cthulhu (investigative games with the potential to be set in the early 20th century) with more open licensing, such as having Open Game Licenses or being licensed under Creative Commons?
THEME: Hackable CoC Alternatives
Hello friend! I'm excited about the new asks as well!
So as far as I know, a lot of indie designers are very happy to allow hacks and supplements done of their work, but if it isn't clear on their page, asking in a comment certainly doesn't hurt!
That being said, for this ask, I made sure to recommend games that are built on systems that have been stated to be licensed under Creative Commons or something similar.

A hack of 24XXĀ for Cosmic Horror games in any setting. Inspired by Cthulhu Dark.
24XX is a game system that has been hacked for a number of different settings and is released under a Creative Commons 4.0 license. The base rules take up about one page, and thereā€™s plenty of examples in other 24XX hacks of how to introduce a rule or two to help the game fit the genre youā€™re looking for. 24XX is also inspired by the OSR scene, so when it comes to running and designing adventures, you can design adventures for these games similar to how you might design them for other OSR games.
Haunter in the Dark, by Robot Francis.
This town is haunted. Your home is cursed. Monsters are real. Haunter in the Dark is a horror roleplaying game about a group of investigators discovering then confronting the supernatural horrors that haunt their home town. The game is powered by the Forged in the Dark engine, with rules to create your investigators defined by their relationship to the unnatural: the Descendent, the Dreamer, the Exorcist, the Scientist, the Sleuth, and the Sorcerer.
The motivations, powers, and minions of the horror are generated collaboratively by the players during the game, with players encouraged to creep each other out and brandish their character's sharp edges. The MC takes the townspeople, world, and monsters that the players depict, then twists the knife to make it worse than they could have imagined. The game helps you create an escalating mystery, followed by a climactic scene of confrontation.
This is a Forged in the Dark Game, which means it uses the mechanics familiar from the Forged in the Dark SRD. John Harper has stated that the contents of the SRD are available under the Creative Commons Attribution, and if you want to include the Forged in the Dark logo, thereā€™s simply an attribution request to indicate itā€™s a logo trademarked by One Seven Design. Itā€™s an incredibly free license, and Iā€™m planning on writing a game in this system!
The Between, by the Gauntlet.
The Between is a tabletop roleplaying game about a group of mysterious monster hunters in Victorian-era London. They are residents of a place called Hargrave House, and their job is to investigate and neutralize monstrous threats terrorizing the cityā€”threats that Scotland Yard wonā€™t or canā€™t handle themselves. As the story progresses, they become aware of the plans of a Moriarty-style criminal mastermind they will eventually have to face in order to save Queen and country.
The Between is directly inspired by the gothic horror TV showĀ Penny Dreadful, but also takes a lot of inspiration from British horror classics, graphic novels like From Hell and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and pulp-era stories. Mechanically, itā€™s Powered by the Apocalypse but also uses the mystery system from Brindlewood Bay.
Both the Powered by the Apocalypse ā€œsystemā€ and the Carved from Brindlewood license are pretty open. Vincent & Meguey Baker do not lay claim to the 2d6 mechanics of Apocalypse World, but rather use ā€œPowered by the Apocalypseā€ to signify that a game was inspired by Apocalypse World in some way. There are thousands of PbtA games out there, many of which alter what some folks may have originally thought were key parts of PbtA. Meanwhile, Gauntlet Publishing runs a Discord channel that welcomes peopleā€™s ideas that use the Carved from Brindlewood label, and creates channels for each new game that has a name and a draft ready to go.
Rā€™LYEH, by Another Cosmic Zine.
Rā€™lyeh is a hack of Durf.
It adapts the gameā€™s procedures and themes into a ruleset designed for tabletop scenarios of horror, investigation, mystery and madness.Ā
Both this game and its predecessor are designed to be hacked and re-worked, and are licensed under Creative Commons 4.0. They are fairly rules light and would probably benefit from having some supplements and home-brew! This game looks to be somewhat indifferent to the time period itā€™s set in, which tells me that you can probably run it in the early 19th century with little adjustments needed.
Cthork Borg, by kumada1.
Cthork Borg is a full conversion hack that adaptsĀ MƖRK BORG to a jazz age cosmic horror setting.
Cthork Borg uses the Mork Borg Third-Party License, which is fairly permissive and allows you to reference the mechanics and rules of the game. The creator for Cthork Borg even offers up the colours used in the game so that creators can create using the same colour palette! Youā€™ll also be able to check out some other material thatā€™s already been made for this game on the link above, including extra classes for characters, a guide to the setting, and rules for adding animals!

This line right here has had a choke hold on me for the last five minutes, sir, on god?
hnnnnfggshshjsk SIR
quick content warnings: pregnancy talk (PC used to be pregnant), Harper being a right fucking creep, kidnapping kinda??
If I remember correctly, IRL, there's a certain amount of time that has to pass before it's safe to have sex again after giving birth (seems like it ranges from 2 to 6 weeks), and Harper would be mindful of that before doing anything to you. (He doesn't want to damage to your pretty little hole!)
But here's the issue- Harper wants to be the FIRST one to fuck you postpartum. He's been thinking about knocking you up with your next kid ever since you got pregnant with the first one, and there's no way in hell he's going to let someone else get that chance before him. He's earned it, he thinks. He's been so helpful throughout your pregnancy; he's been there every step of the way. He deserves it, he knows. You owe him that.
His solution is to keep you somewhere safe, somewhere monitored, where he KNOWS you're safe. Maybe it's a private room in the hospital, locked behind a keycard swipe. You'll be allowed visitors, at first. He's not some monster; if your loved ones want to come see you, they may. But he doesn't like the way some of them look at you, and he hates the way you look at them back. So the visitor hours grow shorter and shorter, effectively cutting people off. (He's also very particular on which nurses come to treat you. This hospital is full of dangerous people, and, unfortunately, he doesn't have the authority to fire whoever he pleases.)
If people ask, he mentions something about irregular results. Uses a lot of buzzwords, says it's not safe for outside germs to come near you. That they need to be extra careful around you, so it's best to leave you be. To rest.
This moves onto the next part, he needs to keep you in his grasp long enough for it to be safe to fuck you again, to breed you again. (And yes, Harper could get you pregnant in other ways- he could insert his sperm via tube/syringe like he's done to many test subjects before, but his cock disagrees. He needs to feel himself inside of you. He's waited long enough. He can wait a little more, the prize'll be worth it.) He uses similar excuses explanations as to why he needs to keep you with him at the hospital longer. He needs to monitor your levels, your progress.
"Something seems wrong," he'd say, "best to keep you longer, for your health."
It's easier to handle when other people come to him for answers, looking to call him out on his bullshit. They have no power here, he doesn't even have to talk to them, if he really didn't want to. (But he's no coward, he can stand tall with a smile that'll make others shy away.) All it takes is a little manipulation to get them to turn around. He's the expert here. He knows what's best for you, not them. If they refuse, well, it's bad to cause a ruckus in a healing environment, yeah? They'll be kindly escorted out.
It's harder when it comes to you, though. It's not like he wasn't expecting it- he's prepared- but it's still disappointing when you start getting restless. You want to leave, he gets that. You want to go home, to be with your kid. And he understands that. But you can't go yet. Not yet. Not until he gets what he wants. Not until you're ready. But, unfortunately for him, your patience runs out before the timer does, and you're,,, less than happy. And he didn't want to do this (he did, he was just waiting for the perfect moment, the perfect excuse), but your behavior starts to get so erratic and upsetting, so he throws you in the asylum. (Poor thing. So distraught, you're a danger to yourself. He had to step in.) Somewhere even more isolated safe, and he keeps you there for as long as he needs.
When the time comes, after one of your examinations, Harper is shaking from restrained excitement. He almost forgets to hypnotize you, drug you, whatever- he's just so eager to be inside you and pump you full of his seed.
And when he does get to... oh boy, it's heavenly. The wait was worth it.

Hi! Can I ask what Noha's (i hope I spelled that right) relationship is like with the other characters (sorry if you talked about this already)
Also, just so you know, I am very concerned about Felix's parents!
hello!! and yes you did spell it right!!
ā€”ā€”ā€”
I havenā€™t actually gone into detail about it actually! Just a quick ā€œthey have a positive/negative opinion on so and soā€ so Iā€™ll use this as an opportunity to go in-depth!
~~~
Harper: Noha thinks Harper is weird, to say the least. They find his voice weird, his actions strange, his words too big, his everything is just too much. Noha doesnā€™t hate Harperā€”though it does seem like thatā€”they just find him akin to a puzzle: strange and wild and unpredictable andā€”above all elseā€”interesting.
Mehri: Nohaā€™s opinion of Mehri is this: they think sheā€™s a little naive, and maybe she could learn to be less forgiving, but they still like their honesty, and kindness, and overall goodness. The relationship these two have is interesting: Iā€™ve said before that Noha had the lowest morals of the rest of the gang, whereas Mehri is the oppositeā€”their morals are the best, by far. Youā€™d think theyā€™d argue about a lot, but they both let that stuff slide for the sake of their friendship. They learn from each other tooā€”she teaches Noha how to be kind, and they teach Mehri to be ruthless.
Kaiden: Noha finds Kaiden similar to them in a lot of aspects. For starters, they both are quieter, they both were forced to hurt people, and they both were alienated at a young age. Despite all these similarities, Noha doesnā€™t really vibe with Kaiden too wellā€”especially at the beginning of the story. It gets betterā€”WAY betterā€”after a Specific Event, but for now? Noha thinks Kaiden is eh. They like her wit though. And her (very rare) sense of humor.
Felix: If Noha would describe Felix in one word, itā€™d be eccentric. Not in the good way, eitherā€”they find Felix weird and overall very Loud, which they do not like. They do appreciate his skill though.
Aleksi: Noha just thinks Aleksi is quiet. And a pushover. They think he needs to grow a spine. But at least heā€™s a decent fighter and has some sense of justice, they suppose.
Li Hua: Noha thinks Li Hua is reallyā€¦ well they donā€™t quite have the words. On own hand, they think sheā€™s pretty neat, and that her alchemical skills are useful, but on the other they hate the fact sheā€™s soā€¦ emotive. It drives them mad. They have learned to make the most of it though: they have made a game of riling Li Hua up as much as possible.
Evangeline: Noha doesnā€™t quite know what to make of Evangeline. When they first met, Noha assumed sheā€™d be snooty and stuck up like how they expected nobles to act like. Instead, they were met with an awkward young woman grieving her familyā€™s death. They are so confused about her. Noha does like her fashion sense though, so that must count for something.
ā€”ā€”ā€”
thanks for the ask, @bunnymermaidsblog !
On that note the batkids have their favorite aunts and uncles. Some are obvious, some less so.
Dick is close to the Weasley twins but also likes chilling with Ron. You can even find him talking with Percy at times but they don't do it often. Alicia is his other fave non-weasley because she doesn't hesitate to take him flying especially once he gets his own broom.
Jason is closest to Hermione but he also gets on with Ginny. He likes Neville because he didn't mind if Jason got dirty as a kid and Hannah usually would sneak him snacks.
Cass likes to chill with Percy because he's the quietest out of the Weasley and she also likes Neville for similar reasons. Luna is also her favorite but for the longest time they didn't understand each other. That didn't stop them from sitting down and just vibing.
Steph loves Ginny. Ginny is just her favorite because she doesn't hesitate to let Steph do whatever and they just go on adventures. Her other favorite is Charlie for similar reasons. She also loves Tonks.
Harper is close to the Twins and also Ron. They play chest sometimes and every so often she beats him. She thinks Arthur is a riot but also a really good inventor. Between her and him, they got the Batmobile to fly [we aren't going to mention the failures and the two Batmobiles that went sentient and went off to mate and have babies. not mentioning that at all.] Her favorite non-weasley is Remus. He's so chill and reminds her of Cullen.
Cullen's fave is Bill and in tern, Fleur. Not only are they pretty but kind and let him sit in quet instead of dragging him into something. Similar reason he likes Hannah. He also enjoys spending time with Neville.
Tim can be found chatting with Percy but his favorite is Bill. Hilariously his favorite non Weasley is Seamus. Because Seamus is a proponent of 'blow shit up' and its great for Tim to have another explosion buddy that isn't Tom or Jason. Tim also likes Hermione a lot.
Damian, i already mentioned, likes Luna but he also is pretty close to Dean since Dean was the one who taught him how to animate his paintings. Damian is very close to Charlie despite the attempted Dragon theft incident and much to Harry's chagrin, Damian adores Hagrid.
continuing my last post, here are some spacekru moments i'd like to see flashbacks about (pushing for my spacekru spin off):
- murphy's coma. that must have been WILD and so scary since no one is medically trained. the GUILT that monty must have been feeling
- raven teaching emori about mechanic stuff. i can imagine raven was doing her usualt raven stuff and emori just kinda watched from afar, slowly coming closer each day til raven offered to teach emori some things. from there on they spent more and more time together, emori learning a lot
- emori and echo bonding over being grounders in space together. that must have been really difficult for them, never having been in space before and not knowing what to expect, missing earth so much
- spacekru finding booze. i know it happened, i know they cheered, i know they got drunk as hell
- i know this didn't happen (not as far as we know anyway) but murphy learning some medical stuff. he wants to be useful and knows the smallest bit of what he saw clarke and abby doing in the past, so he takes it up to organize the abandoned medbay and try to make something of it
- emori and echo learning to read and write. i'm kinda assuming here that grounders don't read or write, but i could be wrong. i'd really like to see them learn, probably raven and bellamy teaching them. hell, maybe murphy can learn some stuff too ("first son, first to dye")
- on a similar note, emori and echo teaching the others trigedasleng. a really nice exchange of knowledge and culture
- mourning clarke together. bellamy and raven ofc took it really hard, but the others were close with clarke as well or at least knew her good enough
- spacekru haircuts! they all got nice new hairstyles, i'd like to see how the haircuts went between them. maybe the first time they were still a bit wary around each other, feeling uncomfortable with another person coming close to them with scissors / a knife
- training with each other and teaching fighting styles. bellamy and harper can teach the rest how to use guns, while echo can show them how to use swords and a bow. i'm also really impressed by how raven won from echo in their little sparring match (even if echo let her win)
- the "rules" that they made. murphy mentioned they had "too many rules", so i'd like to know what they are. we already know the "time rule" aka not being allowed to mention how long they've been on the ring for, the punishment being a chore. murphy was one of the chores lmao (i'm laughing but that's sad tbh)
- emori and murphy's breakup of course. really want to know what exactly happened and how, since they both seemed to have different takes on it
- bellamy and echo slowly learning to trust each other. i still remember the "will we ever trust each other?" "probably not" (something like that) and BOOM 6 years later they're dating
- maybe a bit more about the ring itself? i'd like to know the layout and what kind of departments they have. the ring looks pretty big, but it seems like they didn't actually have many bedrooms. after murphy pushed emori away, raven says they were forced to bunk together. emori could have chosen a room for herself, but maybe there were just only very limited rooms, 5 or so? seems a bit strange to me for such a large spaceship
- i like to think they had weekly therapy talks, so i'd like to see more about them just being vulnerable with each other and learning their stories
- just more spacekru. i love them and miss them so much. please give us more content of them, literally anything
thanks for reading!
Sometimes timing works out well and u get the opportunity to see an actor you love perform in an incredible play (twice!) šŸ„¹
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now I already knew Iā€™d be going to Korea sometime in the latter part of the year, so the announcement that Taevin would be doing Angels in America was just perfect. I decided to go to the show on the 25th and closing night on the 27th because who wouldnā€™t want to see Taevin twice AND it meant I could see both Prior actors! Most of the cast both nights were pretty similar, but Harper, Joe, and Royā€™s actors were also different
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Taevin is truly incredible. I had mixedā€¦ negative feelings about Louis while reading the play but god Taevin can ACT!! Both Seungho and Hojun were also fantastic as Prior (I think I liked Hojunā€™s performance a bit more hehe) and despite not knowing much Korean I enjoyed every second (I do wonder if I was the only international person who got to see the play from as far out as I was lol)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some mixed moments I loved/thoughts from the two shows:
after kissing Harper in one scene, Joe (Yang Jiwon) wiped his mouth. He didnā€™t do it at the second show and I wonder if it was intentional or improv by Jiwon in the first show (but it made perfect sense)
in the second show Prior (Seungho) pulled towels from the other side of the stage (aka another set lmao) to give to Harper to wipe her tears during the joint dream sequence. Hojun didnā€™t do that in the first show so I wasnā€™t expecting that and I donā€™t think anyone else was cuz everyone in the audience laughed djskjdk
as I said before idk much Korean BUT I did read the play as well as watched a filmed performance before which was essential before seeing it in a different language lol. For the second nightā€™s performance I felt like I was catching more than the first time I saw it which was cool!
speaking of things I caught moreā€¦ for some reason I heard ā€œdykeā€ pronounced more clearly from Seungho and it was very entertaining to hear Royā€™s actor constantly say ā€œJesus fucking Christā€ in English so I guess they stuck w the English equivalents sometimes loooll
THE GHOSTS OF PRIOR WALTER WERE SOOO FUNNY. ESPECIALLY IN THE FIRST SHOW. they were kind of interacting w the audience??? And running around and being so sillay idk I loved it I was laughing a lot
Louisā€™ stupid rant to Belize was so entertaining. He just wonā€™t stfu and Belize has had ENOUGH. Iā€™m not sure about every version of angels, but for this they had Louis walk to a separate part of the stage and bring back chairs and then drinks which made the length of that scene get even longer and funnier. It was a lot of dialogue and both Taevin & Tae Hangho delivered so well. The only thing Iā€™m curious about is if they altered any dialogue around Belizeā€™s character being Black, considering Hangho is not
THAT scene. THE BREAKUP. IF YOU LIKE THE PLAY YOU KNOW THE ONE. oh my GOD it was incredible. I love the motion and the way all the characters are in conversation with each other itā€™s just so fucking awesome
THE WAY THE ANGEL BURSTS IN AT THE END!!! The lighting is so cool especially with the set design. Lots of flashing lights at different angles and colors creating different effects against the industrial background. What a way to end the play I wish it was 8 hours long and they DID do Perestroika bc I need to see the rest!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally, Iā€™ll end with a little beyond-bucket-list experience I hadā€¦ which was that Taevin signed my ticket šŸ„¹šŸ„¹šŸ„¹ I wonā€™t include a photo bc thereā€™s too much personal info, but he very kindly asked how to spell my name in English seeing that I wasnā€™t Korean lol. He didnā€™t sign anything on closing night either so I was truly very lucky on the 25thšŸ„¹ honestly, I was just expecting to see the play but greeting the cast (more of them came out on closing night!) and even getting an autograph made it even more special hehe
The whole cast was incredible, Iā€™ll remember these two performances for the rest of my life <3
Is Dick Grayson actually a playboy? Iā€™ve always been a Jason girl but Iā€™m getting into Dick. Thereā€™s some debate about his playboy ways being fanon or canon like here
https://www.tumblr.com/robxstar/632261873330421760/is-richard-grayson-actually-a?source=share
Post link
I think playboy Dick is a great example of how complicated comic "canon" can get because you get so many different people interpreting and writing the same character so as readers we often have to be selective about the kind of character we personally shape them into.
Personally I agree with the OP and I'd say that playboy Dick isn't his true characterization and it's also pretty unimaginative. (I think making male characters playboys/promiscuous in general is overdone, but whatever. Different post lol).
The point OP made about DC writers trying to make Dick into Batman-lite is also really important because yes definitely! Batman-adjacent characters often have trouble escaping his shadow and having their own personality (the irony!)
In a similar example, you might see Jason being characterized as flirty and a wisecracker/jokey. While Jason can be humorous, it's not in a friendly way. Dude is off putting! Dramatic! Introverted! Does not know the touch of a woman (or man)! And I don't think he's flirty at all. When comic writers do that to him it's sooo OOC and forced. Jason sleeping with Kori in RHATO for example is bizarre. I've seen the point made that, for Jason at least, sometimes writers will have him absorb another character's traits instead of giving him his own personality. Roy Harper I think would be one - flirty and humorous in an outgoing way is HIS personality, but for some reason, people give Jason his traits.
Anyway, got distracted by my boy... it's totally up to you what you take from canon. Sometimes DC writers are super weird about some characters and many of them don't believe in continuity.
Tldr: no I don't think Dick is a playboy and DC writers get lazy and weird about characterizations.
DROS CH2 Part 6 First Impressions
It's Valentine's Day (or, it was when the part released), and I can't possibly think of anything more romantic than spending it solving a horrible murder! Let's get into this trial!
CWs
"Noah: Alright, letā€™s get startedā€¦!" Glad to see the trial grounds have lifted his spirits (?)
"Vanessa: Y-yeah! Letā€™s pick a topic and get to the evidence!
Harper: Are you two alrightā€¦?" Oh okay good, I'm not the only one thinking that's weird coming from those two xD
"Kennedy: We will! Because Iā€™m going to solve this thing and figure out all the mysteries this game is hiding!" Ah, missed ya', Kennedy.
[Nonstop Debate] Let's go!
Actually I have no idea what to shoot :v Everyone's kinda saying what I believe, which is that Robert died of drowning. Maybe...
"Taylor: Couldnā€™t it be poison again?" Shooting Vivi's Autopsy at this?
"Vanessa: Like, it could be a lie, but it seems like itā€™s drowning, right?" Or Damp Body at this? Idk
[Answer: Viviā€™s Autopsy ā†’ ā€œit seems like itā€™s drowningā€] Yeah that was another possibility :p
"Ellis: Vivi already told us that the Monoquinā€“or should I say, MQā€“ File..." Wait are we actually abbreviating "Monoquin" like this? I somehow didn't catch that, but it's pretty funny :p
"Grace: I donā€™t trust Vivi.
Vivi: Oh, come on! Why this again?!
Grace: Anyone can see that it would be beneficial for the killer to control information.Ā
Vivi: And anyone with a brain would understand that Iā€™d do the autopsy either way! Stop accusing me just because Iā€™m trying to help!" Leave my girl alone ToT
"Mark: Do we have any concrete proof to back up Vivi here? Just to avoid this argument?" [Evidence Select] Okay so I accidentally looked ahead but I'm pretty sure I woud have said the right answer (Damp Body) anyways :p
"Vivi: Great! Because, as you shouldā€™ve learned last time, if you actually trust me, this thing will be a whole lot easier!" I know Vivi, don't worry I trust you.
"Kennedy: Aidan! You still have to explain to everyone what you were doing earlier." Oh, time to talk about this!
[Aidan's explanation] Similar to what we had earlier, still just as sound as ever. It makes me wonder how future killers are gonna try to play around this. Now that the option is on the table and everyone's aware of it, the killer's gonna have to force the BDA, otherwise they're cooked. I guess that's a consideration for future trials, though.
"Aidan: If you donā€™t believe me, then itā€™s a good thing it worked out anyways." [Evidence Select] Uh... Body Discovery Announcement I guess, since Aidan's part of the three discoverers and thus confirmed spotless. Maybe mix it with Alibis to confirm that no one else saw the body.
[Answer: Body Discovery Announcement + Regulation #6] Okay I guess that's also fair xD Forgot those things were always bullets as well :p
"Paris: Or you had this plan going into the Class Trial, and you manipulated the Body Discovery Announcement in order to ā€œclearā€ your own name~
Mark: ā€¦She raises a good point." ...No she doesn't? Unless she can come up with some way to do that. If no one else saw the body, the BDA clears them, there's no loopholes. What is she implying, that someone saw the body and didn't notice? That someone else saw the body, and Aidan's convinced them stay quiet or something? I mean I guess it isn't impossible, but y'know.
"Aidan: Do you trust Ellisā€™ luck?
Vanessa: Huh?
Aidan: Letā€™s say I am the blackened, and eventually, youā€™ll figure out that one of us three has to have faked being part of the Body Discovery. Why would Ellis be in that group? Itā€™s the highest risk category." Well this is a hell of an argument xD I guess it isn't horrible, though. Although if you think about it long enough it kinda falls apart (there's no particular reason the others distrusting Ellis is a bad thing for her above distrusting any other spotless, since any vote on a spotless gets everyone killed anyways), but oh well.
"Taylor: ā€œLuck isnā€™t something you can rely on so easily, darling~ā€
Vanessa: ā€¦
Taylor: I-itā€™s a pretty good argumentā€¦!" Hey I'm sorry Taylor but did you really take Antonia for that? I genuinely still find it incredible they keep doing this, what's wrong with them??? I love them xD
"Vivi: Isnā€™t it kinda weird that Aidan was so calm? Like, everyone freaked out when it was Cassā€™ body." Was Aidan even particularly freaked out by that? I guess he must have been, if Vivi's bringing it up.
"Davis: I believe Aidan.
Jeff: Of course you do.
Davis: Whatā€™s that supposed to meanā€¦?" Lol. Lmao, even xD
"Harper: [The BDA] canā€™t be faked without doing something to fake it, can it? So, weā€™ll go through the Trial and figure out what happened, and if we discover a trick within those solutions, weā€™ll know the truth." Thank you Harper, that's what I'm saying! xp
"Kennedy: Iā€™m not done with Aidan yet.
Davis: Can you please justā€¦ move on already?
Kennedy: Relax, Iā€™m not accusing him. Iā€™m talking about what he saw, if he is innocent.
Aidan: Yeah, makes sense. Alright, let me share with the class." [Nonstop Debate] I got worried about Kennedy for a moment, but yeah, Aidan is an important witness lol. Anyways, yay Nonstop!
"Vanessa: It seemed pretty normal during investigationā€¦" I'm assuming we shoot State of the Villa here, since that's the bullet that mentions the water in the tub, which I'm assuming is where we're going :p
[Answer: State of the Villa ā†’ ā€œwhat couldā€™ve drowned him"] ...Or that, yeah. It's basically what I was trying to get at. With how many things there are to shoot in any given Nonstop, it's sometimes kinda difficult to tell some options apart from others xp
"Kennedy: The bathtub?
Paris: Itā€™d be the best place to drown someone in one of the Villas, right?
Kennedy: That means itā€™s too obvious." Oh hey, me and Kennedy agree! What an unprecedented event which certainly doesn't happen a worrying amount! xD Though I more so believe that because of the lie in the MQ file (fuck it I'm using the abbreviation too), as the location is the most likely to be the lie imo.
"Taylor: Well, if weā€™re sure that it was drowning, then the only things that can be the lie are really the time or the location, right?
Davis: So, thereā€™s water in the bathtub. What does that tell us?
Noah: That the location was accurateā€¦?
Jeff: Does that mean the timeā€™s the lie?
Mark: ā€¦Does itā€¦? [Puzzling Pieces] Speaking of the MQ file lie :p
"Davis: Was anywhere else particularly dry or wet?
Jeff: The hell does ā€œparticularly dryā€ even mean?
Davis: If somewhere looked like it was messed with by the killer, I mean.
Davis: Somewhere that really should have been wet, but it wasnā€™t." Okay I tought "particularly dry" was hilarious when I first read it, but Davis raises an interesting point, actually. Now that I think about it, there wasn't any mention of water going from the tub to the closet, right? Oh that's extremely suspicious actually how didn't I notice before?! Unless it dried, which I guess might be possible... hm...
"The _____ _____ be _____ by _____." Okay wow I'm actually really bad at these what do I do.
Uh... "The body should be dry by now"? Going with the idea that the time is the lie. I don't believe the time is the lie, because Vivi's Autopsy, but I could believe that this is the direction the trial's gonna go for now. I hadn't considered how dry the body should or shouldn't be in my original theories, but I guess if the body should be dry if he'd been killed at 9:15, then that supports the idea that the body got wet a while after the murder, possibly if the killer crossed the Fountains while carrying it.
[Answer: The bathtub should be dry by now.] Ah, that also makes sense. Although this doesn't clear up anything actually, which is kinda why I didn't even consider it xp If the time is the lie, then the bathtub could be wet because it happened way later than the file says. If the location's the lie, then the bathtub could be wet because the killer turned it on to appear as though the murder happened there way after the murder actually happened.
I am... not doing well in these minigames am I? xD I gotta lock in chat what is this.
"Kennedy: The time being different is too obvious. Clearly, the killer knew we would be searching for the lie, so they constructed a world in which we would think the lie was the time instead of the location; thatā€™s why they planted the water. Maybe they even expected us to see through that lie, so they also set up a false alternate location and the real lieā€“" I love it when I have to reread Kennedy's lines to follow along (/gen), it's awesome xD
"Mark: Could we step through it together?
Kennedy: ā€¦
Vivi: Uhā€¦ letā€™s talk it over as a group, okay? I mean, Iā€™m pretty sure it must be the location, ā€˜cause my autopsy determined the time was about right, butā€¦ we can come to a conclusion everyone can believe, right? Kennedy, you wanna start?
Kennedy: ā€¦Alright." [Nonstop Debate] Theory Trio going in!!! And another Nonstop! :D
...Okay it's getting dire. I genuinely have no clue where I'm supposed to be going with this.
"Noah: ā€¦Hey, uh, what if it was the time though? What would that mean?" Maybe Vivi's Autopsy here? Feels kinda redundant since Vivi just mentioned it... This is maybe the most likely in my eyes?
"Paris: Itā€™d be about whoā€™s with who, right?" Though maybe Alibis here to start talking about that? Idk.
[Answer: Damp Body ā†’ ā€œthe water shouldā€™ve dried by nowā€] I am not doing well, I should've gotten this T_T
"Ellis: Robertā€™s skin had fully dried, huhā€¦? That probably didnā€™t take all of five hours, but the time it wouldā€™ve taken for his skin to dry is still longer than the time needed for the tub. That would add to the idea that the tub is a trap." Yeah this makes sense, thank you Ellis Ortiz the GOAT.
"Aidan: Slow your roll. No oneā€™s gonna listen to you if you go off on your conspiracies.
Kennedy: Itā€™s a theory! And a founded one at that!" Have I mentioned how much I love this beef? I have, but it bears repeating :)
"Vanessa: So, wait. If Robertā€™s body is dry, then that means that the murder was at 9:15ā€¦?
Grace: I would say that seems likely.
Vivi: Itā€™s definitely true. Like Iā€™ve been saying the whole timeā€¦Ā " This is why y'all need to listen to Vivi more! Smh.
"Grace: I doubt that would get us very far. Though, along those lines, it would be possible to see if anywhere seemedā€¦ too clean, wouldnā€™t it?" [Evidence Select] I also accidentally spoiled myself on the right answer here (Robert's Room), but given there's not a lot of places that could be talking about, maybe I would have answered right anyways.
"Ellis: Robertā€™s room seemed exceptionally normal. I know how that sounds, but literally nothing looked moved, like a ghost had been living in there. Erā€“ you know what I mean." I hadn't clocked this as strange, but yeah, it's a good point.
"Davis: In any case, it seems like we can agree that Robert willingly let the killer in, or at least opened the door for them.
Noah: Does that tell us anything about the killerā€¦?
Paris: Well, I heard Harper was going around to peopleā€™s rooms and giving them gifts to cheer them up. It wouldā€™ve been nice for the killer to have set that little precedent for themself~" You know Paris I really would like to stop suspecting you of literally every bad thing in the killing game, but the fact that the murder happened inside and you're my top suspect out of everyone inside, combined with you saying shit like this, when you know Harper has an alibi from breakfast to 11 (covering 9:15, the time of murder in the MQ file) is not helping. I swear I don't hate her she's just so suspicious always and for what T_T
"Harper: I was with Davis at 9:15 AM. Unless youā€™re suggesting that I committed the crime from afar or that the Monoquin File lied about both the time and location, that would be impossible." Yeah that.
"Kennedy: Me, Mark, Harper, Davis, Paris, and Taylor are all in the clear. Plus Ellis, Vanessa, and Aidan, if weā€™re going off the BDA." Yeah, if you trust the Taylor and Paris alibi. Thing is, indoors people without alibi are just Noah and Vivi, and I don't particularly think they're the killer here. Jeff also has no alibi, but it's risky to lie about being in the pool without making sure no one could have seen it.
"Kennedy: Figuring out how the killer got inside or outside." [Nonstop Debate] Oh yeah we do need to talk about this, right? I'm assuming it's time to bring in Jeff's Account.
"Harper: Thatā€™s trueā€¦ Robertā€™s room is quite far away from the body discovery site.
Harper: Is there a more direct way they could get his body outside?" You know, I thought about dropping Robert's body from a window, but that would probably cause some damage that Vivi's autopsy would have caught :p
...Though, wait. Order List mentions the rope that got ordered was long, which is strange, because you wouldn't need such a long rope just to tie the closet shut. Maybe the window idea isn't so insane? If you tie Robert by the waist or something (making sure to put the rope above his clothes to avoid rope burn), then you could lower him slowly so as to avoid injury, and then maybe climb down there yourself, which would avoid the whole "going through the Fountain Bridge" problem.
...Are there even windows in these rooms?
Okay I went back to check the Prologue real quick, yes there's a window in Ellis room and thus presumably in all the others. Though I've also realized that maybe I don't understand what the hell the layout of this thing is? According to the Prologue, Ellis' window overlooks ā€œa pretty are with fountainsā€, which I assumed to be, yā€™know, the Fountains. Butā€¦ how?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like I'm probably being extremely silly here because today is clearly not my day when it comes to actual coherent thought, judging from my minigame guesses, but... if the Foyer door leads to the Fountains (which, it has to, right? There's no other doors to get outside), then Robert's window would overlook the fountains, but Ellis' would need to look past Kennedy's room to see those. Ellis' window would more likely face the Monorail. Unless the "pretty area with fountains" that Ellis says her window overlooks is different from the Fountains in the map... am I losing my mind? T_T
Okay me not understanding maps aside, I'm going to go with Order List -> a more direct way because I don't even know anymore.
[Answer: Order List ā†’ ā€œa more direct wayā€] We got one!!! This is the start of the comeback I believe.
"Mark: Exactly. If you look at the mapā€¦ Robertā€™s room is right in the front of the building. You could easily lower yourself and the body down and end up just slightly to the side of the Hotel door." Okay the fact we're actually bringing this up makes me even more confused about Ellis seeing fountains outside his window- no, no, I'm done talking about it.
"Jeff: Oh, come on. Why canā€™t they just have gone through the Fountains?
Harper: Through?
Jeff: Yeah. Take a quick swim, pop out over by the Monorail Station. No one goes to the Monorail Station. Youā€™d be fine." You know, I may not have caught the rope thing, but I'm still somewhat proud I actually called the killer going through the Fountains (if that even is what happened). Like, it wasn't particularly hard to call, but y'know. I gotta take my Ws when I get them xp
"Vivi: Honestly, I think Jeff is right. The Villas have, like, hotel type stuff, so they have a blow dryer and whatnot. As long as the killer could make it into the Villa of choice without getting spottedā€“ which checks out with it being the farthest from the Hotelā€“ they could make themself passably dry and look totally normal." Alright that's very convenient and easier than my other ideas on how to dry oneself after doing this lmao.
"Kennedy: Then, we should figure out whether the people inside or outside are the ones responsible.
Grace: If the killer could easily move back and forth anyways, would it really matter much? They could dry off in both the Villa and Robertā€™s room. Thus, anyone would have access to anywhere." Incorrect, Grace! It's easier for someone inside, since the rope needs to actually be placed in Robert's room in the first place. If they were outside, they would need to put the rope in some other room before going outside, then go inside, move the rope to Robert's room, and proceed. Plus, it wouldn't benefit them to move the body, since the body being the Villa would make the people outside more suspicious if taken at face value. It makes significantly more sense for them to start inside. I'm assuming all of this is about to get brought up, but y'know.
"Kennedy: There are still things we can consider. Pick a side, everyone! Itā€™s time to figure this out.
Taylor: O-okay! I guess weā€™re doing one of these nowā€¦Ā
Monoquin: Iā€™ll prepare the Trial grounds." [Scrum Debate] Wow Kennedy was quick with it huh xD
Wait why is the doc title "Ch 2 ScrumDeb 1"? Could there be a second one in the same trial? Crazy if true. Also crazy is that I need to figure out how to format this lmao.
Also why is Ellis in "outdoors." Was I silly in assuming the killer would be indoors?
"Grace: Robert was killed inside. Wouldnā€™t it make the most sense for the killer to hang around the _____ of the murder?" Vivi - Site. No other option really :p
"Aidan: Itā€™d be easier to predict where _____ might come from if you were inside. The walls and doorways give you something to go off of." Harper - Witnesses. I guess.
"Mark: People are in more consistent locations inside. Itā€™d be easier to find an _____ after the murder there." Paris - Alibi. Hey "inside" people you're not really arguing the correct points here :p The alibis don't really mean anything.
"Jeff: We figured out the Fileā€™s _____, and that means the murder happened inside. End of case." Kennedy - Lie. I'll concede that maybe we jumped to Robert's room as the true murder location a bit too fast, but it is the best idea we have atm.
"Vanessa: Vivi and Noahā€™s behavior has been, like, totally _____, right? So it wouldnā€™t seem suspicious if they claimed to have been alone all dayā€¦" Ellis - Predictable. Because "predictable" is the only adjective there lmao. Also what is this argument. Is anyone gonna bring up that there's no reason for the killer to put the body outside if they were outside themselves? Alright, I guess this is the direction we're going now.
"Vivi: The killer is just as likely to have hung out around the site of the body discovery as the site of the murder! Honestly, it makes even more sense if the body discovery was where the killer ended upā€¦" Does it? The killer would want to get away from the discovery location, especially if the wanted it to be perceived as the murder location, no?
"Ellis: I dunno, I just think that the fewer times that the killer had to move between inside and outside, the better. Swimming through the fountains again and climbing up the rope seems like a hassle. If Robertā€™s final resting place is outside, then doesnā€™t it make more sense for the killer to have just stayed outside?" Okay this is an actual argument, thank you Ellis. But it still has the issue that either Robert didn't die inside (which would make the rope useless), or the killer had to get from outside to into the building before the murder. The amount of times the killer moved between outside to in remains the same, unless the killer killed inside, went out and never returned, hiding when the BDA happened. Though I guess in that case they could claim to have been outside from the very beginning, instead of claiming to have been inside the whole time when they were outside for a while.
But that still leaves the issue of motive (why move the body outside? Just leave it inside, it gives you a better alibi. Unless you're playing four dimensional chess and claiming that because an outside killer would want the body inside, then having the body outside makes it less likely for the killer to be outdoors, but that's... a lot. Only Kennedy might believe that me thinks :v), and the fact that the only people outside who aren't cleared by either alibi or BDA are Grace and Jeff, which are looking less likely as we go.
Eh. Maybe it's Grace. I don't know, I could still see it going either way :v
"Jeff: Okay, sure, but has anyone considered that Iā€™ve been staying mostly in one place too? Iā€™d be setting myself up to be obviously gone from somewhere if I were the killer, too!
Grace: Oh, definitely, because when Jeff isnā€™t present at a location, we all immediately jump to ā€œbecause theyā€™re murdering someone.ā€
Jeff: Arenā€™t we on the same side here?
Grace: Are we? If weā€™re the only two suspects remaining, we arenā€™t any longer." Ooh, things are heating up! :O Grace is starting to act a bit more hostile, but we're kinda early in the trial for that if they're the killer, no?
"Vivi: It is true that, for both sides, we werenā€™t really arguing based on anythingā€¦" Okay so I'm not completely insane. Well, maybe I am if the one agreeing with me on the shakiness of the arguments is the Mad Doctor, but here we are I guess.
"Aidan: If it comes down to it, we can just pick someone and go after them until they come up with a good enough excuse. Rinse and repeat until we find someone who canā€™t.
Taylor: ā€œIsnā€™t thatā€¦ unnecessarily cruelā€¦?ā€
All: ā€¦
Aidan: If itā€™s what we have to do to find the answer, itā€™s what we do, cruel or not. Figure something out or Iā€™ll pick for you." [Question Completion] Alright, interesting way to go. Also who is Taylor impersonating here? From the reaction, maybe Robert? Idk :v
"_____ _____ _____ _____ _____ _____ _____ _____ _____?" I'm gonna lock in "What did the File lie do for the blackened?" I'm assuming that's the idea, though the wording might be a bit off. There's probably a way to word this so that you can say "Monoquin File lie" instead of "File lie", but I ran out of room :p
[Answer: What did the Monoquin File do for the blackened?] Ah, got it. So "Monoquin File" instead of "Monoquin File lie." Makes sense, I'll take it.
"Kennedy: ā€¦No, sheā€™s got a point. There should be something specific.
Noah: Should thereā€¦?
Kennedy: That was a mistake we made last time. We thought that the murder location being a lie couldā€™ve just been part of the Trial. But it was Antonia in the Casino. Thatā€™s something thatā€™s inherently incriminating. There should be a clear path as to why the killer would want the lie in the File to be what it is." Thank you! So the killer was inside, that's where we're going with this, right?
"Harper: If weā€™re all agreed, then I suppose the next step is figuring out why the killer would want that lie in particular." [Puzzling Pieces] Yay more minigames! :D I feel like I haven't been making it apparent enough, but I do really enjoy how many of these there are. They're really fun to play!
"Mark: It is inside, though.
Mark: That could be incriminating to the inside people, if the point of it was to try to get the burden off their shoulders.
Kennedy: But that could be what the outside people want us to think!" Isn't this exactly what I said before? It's getting to be legitimately worrying how well I can read Kennedy's overthinking ahead of time xD
Okay chat I am bad at these. I've come up with stuff that makes no sense ("An __ killer would want the room to be open at one point"???), but maybe the most coherent thing I have is "An inside killer would want the murder to be outside at one point." Most likely wrong, but my brain hurts T_T
[Answer: An inside killer would want the murder to be outside at one point.] Okay hold on I'm goated. I have genuinely no idea how I managed to get that right xD Puzzling Pieces is probably the most satisfying minigame for me when I get it right because I never feel like I know what I'm doing and somehow it works anyways :v
"Paris: Kinda like I said, right? If you center the case around the lie, it falls apart. The lie is that we couldnā€™t go from inside to outside without getting caught." Yeah you wouldn't want the thing to be centered on one lie. So maybe you'd want there to be two lies. Such as if your bestie was possibly covering for you, right?
I don't know if Paris is the killer or not, I'm just suspecting her for funsies at this point xD
"Noah: So, itā€™sā€¦ one of usā€¦?
Davis: Thatā€™sā€¦ how it seems, at least.
Vivi: I mean, Iā€™ll fight for myself if I have to. Itā€™s justā€¦ hard to believe that itā€™s Noah?" Yeah see I don't think it's either of you that's what's tripping me up as well. Then again, we still probably have an entire extra part to this trial, so maybe it's a bit early to really be down to just two suspects :v
"Harper: ā€¦I assure you, Noah couldnā€™t possiblyā€“
Aidan: Do you know where he was all day?
Harper: Notā€¦ technically, but I believe that he truly was in his room all day. I know Noah, including outside of thisā€¦ Resort. Iā€™m certain we can trust him." Well, ve's trying at least, that's sweet of ver :)
"Kennedy: This is all about finding out whoā€™s actually innocent. If you believe he is and put up arguments, it doesnā€™t matter if itā€™s you instead of him. So, get to it.
Harper: Alright.
Vivi: ā€¦" [Third Party Analysis] Oh shit, TPA with someone who is not a suspect! Cool :D Also I really like this one so I'm thriving. I just need to remember how I formatted this. Eh, I'll just go with it like this.
-Vivi-
Concession: "Itā€™s kinda annoying that you guys are really suspecting me again, but I guess I understand why. I am always at the center of everything with my autopsies."
Defense: "If the doorā€™s open to other people coming in, I couldnā€™t be sure that Iā€™d be in the clear if I did decide to kill someone."
Attack: "Noahā€™s the one whoā€™s been alone doing who-knows-what for who-knows-how-long!"
Proposal: "Maybe he was using that time to plan a murder instead of grieving like we thoughtā€¦?"
-Harper-
Concession: "In all fairness, that would be true were she innocent as well."
Defense: "Noah is my friend, and has been for several years. If youā€™re looking for a character judgment, I attest that I donā€™t believe Noah would be capable of killing someone, especially under these circumstances. Isnā€™t it clear that heā€™s been keeping to himself out of grief? Heā€™s already lost so muchā€¦ What reason would he have to kill now?" (This one can probably be shorter lmao).
Attack: "Their medical knowledge also puts them in an ideal position to lie about details of the crime. [...] Still, their overall combativeness contrasts with Noahā€™s solitude; they have something theyā€™re willing to fight for, even if itā€™s against us." (I don't know if I'm allowed to actually skip lines with "[...]", but since I feel like both of those technically count, I'm putting them both in :v).
Proposal: "On the other hand, Vivi has beenā€¦ in conflict with others recently and defending herself rather firmly. Maybe it was all to ensure we wouldnā€™t distrust her inherently going into her upcoming Trial."
That looks good enough. I don't have any bright ideas for the Inquire section, though. My only guess would be shooting Vivi's Autopsy + Monoquin File #2 at Harper's Attack? The idea being that Vivi is in a good position to lie about details of the crime, but she didn't. They gave a time and cause of death which matched the MQ File, meaning if the cast had believed them, the lie would be found out immediately, which would be bad for the blackened because the entire point of the lie was to pull off the whole "inside-outside" trick. I'm not sure it's right, but I don't know what else to shoot, so.
[Checking Distill Answers] So I got most of it pretty right, even if I still have a tendency to use more text than strictly necessary. Issue is that Harper's Attack doesn't include the "lying about details of the crime", meaning my Inquire's gonna be wrong, but oh well.
[Answer: The Motive ā†’ Harperā€™s Attack] Yeah I guess this makes sense. Forgot you could agree with these. I mean, I typically don't like arguing on motive until there's literally no other options, so I'm not sure this would have crossed my mind anyways, but here we are now!
"Ellis: Unless heā€™s like, actually gone mad with griefā€“ poor word choice, sorry..." This is Mad Doctor discrimination and I will not stand for it >:( (/silly)
"Vivi: No! I mean, yes! I mean, itā€™s not me, so it seems like it has to be himā€¦ No. I think you guys are still wrong about the killer being inside. Like, this all just feels wrongā€¦
Kennedy: Itā€™s true; itā€™s possible this was all a mind game from the killer to begin with, and they only wanted us to think that the killer was inside! Like I said earlier, with the current motive, mind gamesā€“" Mad Duo stand strong, you love to see it :D
"Harper: Itā€™s true. They are guiding our debateā€¦
Vivi: Wait, what? If I did, it wasnā€™t on purpose!
Aidan: Insistence doesnā€™t mean anything on its own. If you want to defend yourself, use actual arguments.
Vivi: Okay, fine! I will!" [Nonstop Debate] Don't worry Vivi I believe you, let's go!
"Vivi: Okay, how about this: Iā€™m a doctor, right?
Vivi: That means Iā€™d know more than anyone else how to kill someone.
Jeff: ā€¦Thatā€™s your brilliant defense?" Yeah, we're not off to a great start here xD
"Vivi: If I was gonna plan a murder when Iā€™ve been in the Infirmary all day every day, I would try to pick something that had to be tied to a more specific location." Not... a great defense. We'll see how we work with it.
"Noah: Are we all gonna justā€¦ ignore how much thought it seems like sheā€™s put into thisā€¦?" Yes we are Noah, let Vivi come up with hypothetical murder plans in peace >:( (xD)
Okay jokes aside I got nothing. Like I genuinely have no idea what I'm supposed to do here. Uh... No yeah, abstain, idk. I really did not bring my A game to this trial huh :p
[Answer: Order List ā†’ ā€œno weapon like thatā€] You know I did think about this, but it didn't really make sense in my mind. Like yeah the rope is a portable weapon, technically, but you'd be arguing that Robert died strangled, meaning the MQ file lie is the cause of death and thus the death location is true. But that comes with its own problems, of course, such as why Robert would be in the Villas in the first place, and why Vivi wouldn't just give the true cause of death in their autopsy to make the Villas the true death location before all these arguments about going back and forth began. I guess they did say asphyxiation and drowning are hard to tell apart, though. Hm... let's see where this goes.
"Ellis: ā€¦Okay, look, if nobody else is gonna say it, I will. Gun!" ???? Wait what the fuck are we talking about Ellis. The gun's not involved. You know the gun's not involved. Where are we going.
"Paris: Oh, did people not hear? My b, Iā€™ll make sure to be more upfront with information next time~" Paris.
"Vivi: It could be! It means thatā€¦ What if the killer was able to coerce Robert to go somewhere, or do something? If a gun was in the equation, it couldā€™ve totally shaken up what happened! Or, there couldā€™ve been an accomplice, if they were coerced into helpingā€¦" This is what I meant. We know this shit didn't happen. The one with the gun was Ness and she's cleared by BDA!
"Vanessa looks at me, attempting to steady the panic in her eyes. What, does she think this is my choice? Itā€™s hers." It' your choice to bring it up when you now it's not connected, though. I don't get what Ellis is trying to do, his moves are too big brain for me.
"Taylor: But, doesnā€™t the fact that no oneā€™s claiming they got it imply that it is connected to the murder? Otherwise, why wouldnā€™t they say something?" We've completely derailed the trial here. Maybe there's some kind of point being made that I'm just not seeing? What is Ellis trying to do?
"Aidan: Hey, eyes over here.
We all turn to Aidanā€“ whoā€™s holding the gun." WHY DO YOU HAVE THAT?!?! I mean it's probably gonna end up helping but geez.
"Aidan: It doesnā€™t have any relevance to the case, though, so we can move on already." Thank you Aidan. Did he hear the conversation between Ness and Ellis? Or does he just not think it's related to the case through regular reasoning? Probably the latter ig.
"Aidan: Iā€™m still cleared from the BDA, and neither of those things have literally anything to do with the case.Ā
Jeff: What, so weā€™re just supposed to take you at your word and move on?
Aidan: Iā€™m not gonna tell you what to do. Itā€™s your move.
All: ā€¦
Aidan: Cool. Letā€™s get back on track, then." [Intermission] ...So, what was the point of bringing up the gun again? Just so everyone knows it's on the table? I guess itā€™s not a horrible idea, but I'm still confused xD This trial is breaking me lmao.
-
Yay!!! Really enjoyable trial so far! You know, part of me wonders if at times I may come off as slightly frustrated at the charactersā€™ lines of reasoning, but I assure you thatā€™s not the case. Itā€™d be kinda boring if the trial just went the exact path of reasoning I would want it to go anyways, so I like seeing so many perspectives on the mysteries of the murder xp As always, fun minigames, fun mysteries, and good character moments for good measure! Peak as always, canā€™t wait to get my heart broken next chapter, when the killer might get revealed! (Or not, what do I know). See you all then!
What are your favorite Roy Harper centered fan fictions?
Iā€™ve already answered asks similar to this before, so Iā€™m just gonna link them :) you can find an assorted collection of Arrowfam fics here, and some other primarily-arrowfam fics but with more Roy-centricity here!
And a few others I havenā€™t (or, Iā€™m pretty sure I havenā€™t) recced before are Donā€™t touch my hair- this one is Jade focused instead of Roy focused, and I know you asked for Roy centric fics but I canā€™t not link this beautiful work by my amazing mutual @ambrozians, plus Roy does guest star in it. Also Wrestle with my thoughts, shake the hand of doubt and Drugs and punks and blood on the street (blood on her knees, bloody history), two really great Roy hurt/comfort fics featuring the fab five by @multifandom-damnation
Hope this is enough!
Intro/explanation/boundaries post:
Richard John Grayson | Dick | Robin
He/Him pronouns
March 20th 1998 | 13
Gotham, New Jersey | The first Robin | Boy Wonder
(everything else is under the cut)
Explanation:
So this is a counterpart to my other blog (it's my most popular, if you know me then you probably know me from that account) @bludhavens-finest This blog is pretty much my Nightwing from that blog but with his time as Robin.
It follows a similar backstory to the one established on my previous blog, At 8 years old Dick's parents were murdered in front of him by Tony Zuko. After all foster/group homes were full Dick got sent to juvie for the first few weeks after his parents murder where he was often the victim of the older kids there. After being lost in the system for a few weeks the usual happens with Dick being adopted by Bruce, and eventually becoming Robin after Bruce finds out about Dicks plan to kill Tony Zuko (btw this was cannon in a run of comics)
Dick has already been Robin for a few years in this blog, the Titans have just been started (Wally West, Donna Troy, Roy Harper, and Garth) and Dick is still leading them, he does not have any siblings at this time, because of the time settings of my other blog this doesn't take place during modern time, it would take place around 2011 (horrifying ik)
I'm completely fine with the accounts of other batkids interacting, just know that Dick won't immideatly know who they are, right now he would know Bruce, Alfred, Barbara, most of the Justice Leauge, Gotham's rogues (minus more modern ones like Punchline or Gardener,) The Teen Titans (Wally West/Kid Flash, Donna Troy/Wonder Girl, Roy Harper/Speedy, and Garth/Aqualad)
I've seen a lot of accounts treat ones like this of younger characters as different universes and I'm totally cool with people doing that with Dick, a lot of his characterization here is coming from Batman the long halloween: the last halloween, Batman and Robin year one, and some of my own personal headcannons and pre-established lore from my other blog
Since this is the first post there are no annons, but once I get some I'm going to have a list similar to my other blog, asks are opened and always welcomed, oc's are always welcome, and any other cannon characters, any asks will be answered with the "ask robin" tag
Boundaries:
- I am a minor, This character is also a minor, don't be weird and keep that in mind please
- NO BATCEST. Especially because this is a blog for one of the bats, I donā€™t care how you rationalize it, I donā€™t want to see BruceXDick, DickXJason, DickXTim, or anything else.
- donā€™t ship adults and minors!
- no proships in general
- no homophobia
- no transphobia
- no antisemitism
