also just holy shit what a masterclass in creating tension over relatively small things, the power of cringe and second hand embarrassment, building sympathy for sad little losers who kinda both do and dont deserve it like idk shit slapped and it was hilarious

#had some great moments of laughing together as a small audience in a very quiet movie #nic cage at the top of his game #it was genuinely so good and every single setting was utterly ridiculously gorgeous #my friends and i were genuinely in pain thru so much of it. i sank all the way down in my seat and covered my eyes. and not during the gore #also shout out to michael cera for representing guys with an annoying double chin gap in their beard pattern (me)#they rly put michael cera and kate berlant opposite nic cage in an a24 movie… gay people u crazy 4 this one
