Oh gosh here we go again- the peak of my hyper fixation on something where I finally post a theory... SO CROCODILE- (Y'all love this guy on tumblr-)I'm going to be very truthful, this started out as a head cannon which I found evidence for in this theory to bring my idea's to completion, and really ties up my thought process together.

What are the key takeaways? 1. Crocodile specifically Avoids having a ring on ring finger, and this could be because he has a spouse 2. Him having lost them in some way, and Iva knowing about them. But why Iva? And why do I say them? Y'all already know- I'm saying Crocodile is gay, and has a husband, well somewhere out there. This makes logistic sense because well, why Iva becomes answered, but we also have a subtle hint in crocodiles overall design. Firstly

Crocodiles Outfit is surprisingly evocative of the victorian dress. Mostly thanks to the vest and cravat look. Additionally, the victorian era began in 1837, very close to when Cigars became popular. I bring this up partially because I think it's cool, and partially because it allows for some implications to come across, as one piece's world spans socially over several decades in terms of atmosphere and acceptance. Mostly that the victorian era was a time where being LGBTQ+ was still considered taboo. So while most of new kama is living in the times of 1970's to modern day, he is very much living in the victorian era. One revolves around being loud and proud, and the other very much around subtleties. What subtleties does he have? Well. For starters, It's a very- Choice colour with the purple vest there. (this is mostly a joke, although purple is associated with signalling, it's usually a different manner as far as I'm aware.) What I actually want to talk about is the earring. Most characters in one piece Wear double earrings if they are wearing them (I.E. Law, bart, Nami, Blackbeard etc.) For those of you unaware, Earring signalling goes like this. Right is gay, left is straight. I could only find three characters wearing a single earring. 1. Zoro on his left. 2. Benn Beckman on his right (Good for him!/hj) and 3. Crocodile on his right. So with this ramble aside. I think his interactions with Iva and the gays TM make much more sense. He's down with the gays because well. He is. They literally give him an entirely new outfit, just like they do for the rest of the LGBTQ+ people they bring in. And why IVA SPECIFICALLY would know that he is married, as per Iva knowing and being all gay peoples parent (/hj). In all seriousness I think it would make sense in this context that he asked Iva to help with his wedding or something of the like, since he (and presumably his husband) likely didn't have many connections to people who could do wedding stuff non-judgementally I.E. a cake or getting someone to do the vows. It's very wholesome, but it's something that I could see as Crocodile wanting to be kept secret, as he's been characterized as someone very secretive. This part is pure speculation/almost definitely false; but. I could definitely see some sort of "held hostage" situation. As Crocodile said "If you want to protect something, do it right." This could be someone who is protecting something, but also someone who lost it. I mean, they've forced the other warlords into similar corners, with the protection of Amazon Lily, or the release of Arlong (and likewise the safe return of all the escaped slaves from the Sun pirates who just wanted to go home.) It makes the "wanting to have a power that can match the WG or any nation in force" goal of his have a much more interesting reason than "KING OF THE PIRATES." We got enough folks aiming for that already, and I feel like if you beat an early antagonist that badly and just keep using him, you gotta have some kind of pay off that doesn't involve him getting beat again.

I used to headcanon Luffy as asexual but the demi-sexual headcanon is growing on me. Only sexual with Zoro, though. Like- I ship Luffy with more people but imo he only feels sexually attracted to Zoro. Something something 'the bond between a captain and his first mate'. Romantic attraction: I can see him being demi-romantic (once again only romantic with Zoro. Or Sanji, even) but I personally see their relationship very Aroaspec QPR. Aromantic and Demi-sexual with a very deep bond with his first mate and his cook. Gender: Transmasc. Demi-boy. He/They. I think he, like, resonates more with being a boy but still doesn't fit the binary enough to be one. And transmasc because. Well. Have you seen him?

I seriously believe that being a first mate makes you inherently unable to fall in love with somebody else. Well, perhaps Sanji too, but I'm not that much of a Zosan so I don't think about how they would work. And still, he'd be Demiro anyway. Gender: Transmasc guy because, once again, have you seen him? Dude even has a scar on his chest. Man tits. Love him. He/Him.

Some might argue with me on this because she has a different girlfriend every arc, but I honestly think that she only feels genuine sexual attraction sometimes and it's not often. Playfully flirting doesn't equal genuine sexual attraction. Romantic attraction: Grayromantic Lesbian. Because, once again, people might not agree with me, but I think she doesn't have crushes often and she falls into more of a romantic gray area. Never with men, though. God forbid. Never with men. That much is clear, I hope. Gender: Demi-girl. She/They. My babygirl. My girlboss. Like I said with Luffy, I think she embraces being a girl but still doesn't fall into that term exactly and doesn't mind They/Them or more androgynous looks/terms at all. In fact, she loves them.

I’m really glad you enjoyed gold, it’s one of my favorite movies of the OP franchise!! Zoro my beloved. Also damn they really threatened to publicly execute Zoro like that (keeping in mind this is AFTER Ace stuff so. I always felt that may have dug up some negative emotions for Luffy.)

And while I understand that the whole gold dust thing was done to have sway over everyone that comes in, Zoro is still the only Straw Hat who’s canonically always wearing gold—dude has those earrings in!! It would’ve been fun to see such a present detail of his character used against him like that. Although I faintly recall hearing at one point that Tesero only has control over gold he’s touched im still unsure about it.

Law and Bepo definitely need to be in more of the movies tbh. I love them.

I think this is also like the second or third movie where Zoro’s been captured and held at ransom; but this was the only one where it was solely him.

Also I can’t shoutout the outfits enough!! Loved the fits. Very good stuff.

I’ll forever be disappointed that there isn’t more fan content of this movie, especially in Luzo terms; shit was GOOD.

Considering the amazing results here for the polls FRobin is in (we‘ll have to defeat Kirk/Spock next which I have struggles to believe we‘ll manage), I recently saw another polls results over on twitter. The winner here is Law/Robin and then Zoro/Robin. In third place we have finally FRobin.

I think it‘s really fascinating to see the difference in results from platform to platform.

Also the poll was done through google forms. So in theory it could have broken containment, not only showing the votes of people who have accounts on twitter. (So "voter fraud" is more likely than on tumblr lol)

The account has almost 62k followers and around 9300 votes, so 9300 fans voting (15% - assuming you coud vote once).

Idk how many followers @onepiece-polls has but it seems that most of the shipping polls had an average 1300 votes?

What does all of this tell us?

I have no idea!

But I assume FRobin is strong and very supported in the LGBTQA+ community and considering, that tumblr is "the gay website", I theorize that FRobin would be the strongest Robin ship and even one of the strongest One Piece ships in general (as proven in the ship wars) on tumblr.

I guess part of it is that, even if you don't headcanon them as T4T or Bi4Bi or any other variation of the gender or sexual/romantic orientation of Franky and Robin, monogamous or in a polycule, they are a symbol for a very healthy and supportive relationship that many wish for themselves and/or wish to witness.

There is a reason why they are the parents to the strawhats (and so many fans) and still are, no matter what Oda said (you fool no one, old man!).

💢 what do you NOT like about your hyperfixation? is there something you would want to change about it?

oh fuck, where do i begin? i guess the most obvious is oda’s treatment of women. i don’t think it’s as terrible as people who haven’t read the series thing that it is, but it’s still not great. and actually, the art style isn’t really the part that bothers me, it’s more about misogynistic stereotypes (girls don’t fight, if they do they fight other girls/it’s not melee, girls are the babysitters/serious ones while guys are the fun ones, stuff like that), and the pervert/nosebleed jokes. the first complaint is actually one of the main reasons i love carrot so much, because she shows that oda is able to write female characters who are scrappy and tough and like to have fun, and i hope he continues to do so. i also get really happy when characters like nami and robin are allowed to be kind of dorky and fun, like nami wanting to be a ninja and robin having a ridiculously dark sense of humor. tl;dr, i have hope that oda is getting better when it comes to female characters, but up until now he definitely hasn’t handled them so well.

i also have problems with some of the story arcs, like i think wano has been really boring so far because it feels like the strawhats have been completely sidelined, and i had similar issues back in dressrosa. some arcs definitely have more problems than others, and imo skypeia through marineford is still the most engaging chunk of the series (maybe with thriller bark cut out, because i didn’t like that one too much, lol.)

i’m one of the few fans who doesn’t really like any inner-crew pairings (i don’t mind all of them, but i think it’s really cool that oda wants to keep romance out of the series and i think the crew is just better as a family), so even though i do have lgbt headcanons none of them are really for the sake of shipping. but anyways, lesbian nami is so fucking important. usopp and zoro are also gay, robin and franky are bi, and aside from that i… really don’t care. i also think that most of the strawhats have ptsd, nami has ocd, luffy has adhd, and robin has bpd.

✨ what draws you towards your hyperfixation? what is interesting about it?

i’ve been reading one piece since early middle school and what’s always stood out to me about it is its ability to remain interesting and maintain a sense of direction despite its length. with series like naruto and inuyasha, it began to feel like a chore to keep reading, because the authors were so clearly just stretching out the story. one piece is long as shit, but it’s incredibly purposeful; oda is so thoughtful and it’s really evident that he’s been planning this story long-term. i’ve also always loved character driven stories, and “a group of traumatized misfits find family in each other” is like my favorite trope ever, so i love the straw hats. plus i love the fantastical settings like skypeia and whole cake island.

off the top of my head... luffy ringing the golden bell after defeating enel, usopp shooting down the world govt flag, hiriluk’s cherry blossoms, corazon telling law he loves him..... oh, the iconic vivi sendoff with The Pose (TM), and uhh... carrot drawing the strawhats as a shoujo, lmao. also i don’t watch the anime anymore but my favorite animated scene is luffy punching charlos, it’s even done by one of my favorite animators.

💕 tell us about one of your favorite characters and why you like them!

CARROT!! i fucking love carrot so much and i want her to become a straw hat so badly...... i liked her right away because uh. she’s cute. but then she quickly became my favorite character because she’s so different from all the other female characters in the series. like i said before, i love that carrot is super strong, i love that she’s a melee fighter, i love that she’s adventurous and irresponsible and a little dumb. she actually reminds me a lot of luffy, who is also one of my favorite characters. plus she gets a totally metal super saiyan form and i really hope we get to see her fight more!

THIS RELATIONSHIP DEVELOPMENT??????????????and okay so it’s been Established™ that zoro is Very Gay for luffy (i will fite u if you argue this with me) but yall. zoro was literally the actual beginning of luffy’s crew, he was the start of luffy’s journey and if you don’t think that’s beautiful there’s something wrong with you, zoro is the first part of the foundation to luffy being able to achieve his dream, he’s the first pillar, im sobbing yall, im getting so emotional, this ship is so good.

What makes me happy about them: as a wise man named DJ Khaled once said, “u loyal”. no but really what more do you need than two people willing to die and go through hell for each other, for each other’s dreams without hesitation, that understand each other and are perfectly in tune, what the fuck else do you need, what is it, how do i sell this car to you–

What makes me sad about them: nothing. there is nothing. they are perfect.

things done in fanfic that annoys me: if you force your stupid gender roles onto this ship i will personally pay off a ghost to haunt your bathroom mirror for the rest of your mortal life.

things I look for in fanfic: angst with happy endings, lots of relationship development, fucking give me that character study, give me all 

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: assuming we’re talking hypothetically if gay ships could ever become canon… luffy obviously with law. zoro also with law. but ideally they’re all very gay and very poly.

My happily ever after for them: luffy becomes the pirate king and doesn’t die, zoro becomes the greatest swordsman and doesn’t die, they keep sailing the seas in search for adventure together with their friends and NO ONE DIES, ODA.

who is the big spoon/little spoon: i figure luffy is so all over the place when he sleeps that it switches around a lot throughout the night, i don’t think either would really have a preference. 

what is their favorite non-sexual activity: partying together with friends!!!! drinking and eating!! being competitive for fun (why hasn’t there been a sports AU yet i’m so disappointed)

when I started shipping it if I did: it was definitely punk hazard. like with ZoLu it wasn’t until i was fully caught up that i started paying attention to ships, and by that time we just about hit punk hazard in manga and i couldn’t resist.

my thoughts: as i mentioned in an earlier post, the way law’s impressions in regards to luffy develop from the first time they meet all the way to dressrosa is just so good, like law fought it every step of the goddamn way but luffy was like “nah we’re married now” and that’s fucking that, they’re stuck with each other forever. it’s so weird because when i started this series i was so convinced i would never ship luffy with anyone but he just has to go and attract all these edgy softies with his absurd willingness to LITERALLY DIE FOR THEM, you tell this kid you want an alliance and if he likes you enough he will fight the whole world for you, i’m so. ugh.

What makes me happy about them: grumpy tol and sunny smol. law being dragged kicking and screaming into falling in love. luffy giving exactly 0 shits for his inhibitions and shattering his Edgelord image with brutal honesty. i can already see them 10 years later, you know that meme of a married couple that goes “aww you had a crush on me? that’s so embarrassing”, except the LawLu version would be:“tell me again how you had a crush on me when we were younger” “I HAD NO SUCH THING” “law, we’ve been married for ten years” “IT’S A PIRATE ALLIANCE–” “WE HAD A FUCKING WEDDING”

What makes me sad about them: THEY ARE PERFECT.

things done in fanfic that annoys me: g e n d e r   r o l e s. making law some sort of sadistic sociopath. making luffy as dumb as a bag of hammers without it being played for laughs or as a gag like in canon. i get he isn’t the brightest but come on yall, tone it down. 

things I look for in fanfic: same as with ZoLu.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: as you can probably guess, both of them with zoro. there’s literally no one else, yall can go home, it’s been decided.

My happily ever after for them: luffy becomes the pirate king and doesn’t die, LAW DOES NOT DIE AT ANY POINT, and while i can’t really see law sailing with luffy i can see him settling down somewhere later on and opening a clinic or a hospital. luffy would visit him lots

who is the big spoon/little spoon: law doesn’t strike me as the cuddling type so i feel like he’d be the grudging little spoon who secretly loves the cuddles but he has too much Edge to admit it. luffy does not care. will cuddle whenever wherever. 

what is their favorite non-sexual activity: canonverse wise, i’d say dragging law into adventures and making him have fun. that’s like, a huge part of their relationship. otherwise cuddling also seems like a big contender, god knows law needs affection.
