Words in different languages
F1 Vegas edition
That was the title of the video
It was media day, you had a love - hate relationship with your media duties, there are days you like being there but there is also days that you did not want to be there.
Today you loved it because you and your teammate Max Verstappen and Checo Pérez .
You would be doing a video with alpha tauri well technically visa something but you refuse to say it like that.
The video's idea was to line you up with your teammates and the two drivers. Yuki tsunoda, and Daniel Ricciardo.
First was Danny, then yuki, Checo, max and then you. The idea of the video is for the world to see some words in different languages and since it was the Las Vegas Grand Prix the words were inspired by it
The first word was Casino which Danny said then
yuki in Japanese kajino
then Checo dinero
max casino
then you answered : Καζίνο
the other four drivers looked at you, confused you ask them
" what?"
Yuki spoke up :" nothing it just sounds really heavy for some reason"
" well wait and see the rest buddy" you answered him
Again Danny with sphere
Yuki : "what is sphere? " someone from behind the camera showed him and he understood " safaia"
Checo : " Esfera"
Max : " no fucking clue" he said and triggered a laugh from all of them " I don't know i guess sphere?" then Danny butted in with a remark " I don't know make one" again laughter
Y/n : " Σφαίρα"
No reaction whatsoever and moved on
Danny : gamble
Yuki : Guanburu
Checo : apuesta
Max : gokken
Y/n : Στοίχημα? Έτσι δεν το λένε έχει ούτε κι άλλος πολλές λέξεις για αυτό ? " you say looking at your Greek friend which you got a nod from you looked at your driver friends looking at you confused" I was asking him if it was the right one because we have a few words for that " you said shrugging and your friends exclaimed in understanding
Danny : Poker
Yuki : poka
Checo : póker
Max : poker
Y/n : πόκερ
Again moved on
Danny : cards
Yuki : kado
Checo : cartas
Max : kaarten
Y/n : κάρτες
Danny looked at you and said " Greek sounds like Spanish it's crazy"
"well it does sounds like Spanish that's why I was able to learn Spanish easily dude" y/n answered him
Yuki then spoke again : I haven't really heard you speak Greek, can you say something quick like a sentence? " he looked up to you with anticipation
"what do you want me to say?" y/n said
" I don't know like a normal every day sentence like how are you and stuff"
" Ε.... Καλημέρα πως είσαι? Είσαι καλά? Is that enough?"
"wow it's enough! What did you say?"
"I said : good morning, how are you, are you okay? I have spoken in the drivers parade interviews in only Greek, haven't you seen it? Or anyone from here? "
" I have!" There was your team that answered and Max with checo the same time " I should hope so for my team but you and max? I honestly didn't expect it!" you said to checo who was now beside you on the left and on the right max.
The media crew came to tell you about the rest of the day what activities you had to complete like driving the floating cars ( or something I don't know what it is) in the sdame place in the desert.

The painting in yellow and black tones increasingly filled his hands. Sweat dripped from his forehead, not only due to the sun that was blazing that day in Suzuka but also because of the stress he was feeling to ensure that the project turned out as planned: flawlessly.
Sebastian had spent months not only brainstorming and meticulously preparing for that Japanese Grand Prix weekend but also dedicating himself wholeheartedly the night before to build each of the hotels that his former colleagues were now painting.
He was exhausted, but the feeling of happiness he was experiencing at that moment was immense. The conversations among the other drivers couldn't be more positive. They seemed to be enjoying the process, constantly sharing laughter and jokes among them as they continued with their task the best they could.
While the German was focused on ensuring that everything was going perfectly, he could gradually see, out of the corner of his eye, a figure he knew perfectly well in any form.
"Y/N, what are you doing here?"
Her husband's tone surprised Y/N, who lowered her arms, disheartened, knowing that the hug she was about to give would most likely not be reciprocated.
"I came to see you. What else would I do?" replied the journalist, ignoring Seb's behavior. "And to interview you too, but you already know it."
The blonde frowned, feeling a bit confused by the situation. Interview him? How could there be nothing he wouldn't know?
"Interview me?" he innocently asked.
"Didn't Britta tell you?"
Sebastian shook his head once again. Y/N’s gaze shifted to Roeske, who averted his eyes at the mess he knew he had caused with the couple. The former driver's PR knew that if he had said anything beforehand, Seb would have likely rejected the offer and, most importantly, gotten upset. Besides, he knew that such a refusal would upset Mrs. Vettel, and that would end up in a pointless argument between the couple.
"Well, you know how Britta is. She didn't mention anything about interviewing me today, especially not by you. You know, with so many things she has to keep track of..." Vettel tried to excuse her.
The journalist shook her head and once again looked at the PR, seeking confirmation from his side. A single nod was enough to acknowledge that her client was right.
"Y/N, schön, we need to maintain professionalism," Vettel stated firmly, seeing that neither of the two women responded. "I don't think it's very appropriate to mix our personal life with the professional one. We've always done it this way, and we should..."
"To hell with professionalism, darling," she interrupted, raising her voice. "We've been pretending to be professional for too many years to keep doing it. You've been retired for almost a year, living the life you've always wanted with our children and me," she explained, trying to convince him. "It won't hurt if you let go and be yourself, if we just are ourselves."
Sebastian remained silent for a few seconds that felt eternal for the woman. He knew Y/N was right, he knew nothing would happen if they showed themselves as the couple they were in private, but his shyer side, the most introverted one, the one that wanted to protect his privacy above all and, above all, his family, felt a kind of fear that this would end up making him completely vulnerable to public scrutiny.
"Alright, let's do the interview," the German finally said, causing his wife to start hopping around before pouncing on him and kissing him all over his face.
"Where should we start, Mr. Vettel?"
"What about giving Mrs. Vettel a kiss?" he replied, playing along with the game the journalist had started. "You know, to help ease any tensions..."
Sebastian didn't need to say anything more for his wife to take his face in her hands and pull him towards her, giving him a kiss that lasted not only longer than they would have allowed on another occasion, but also longer than they themselves expected.
They ended up pulling away after a few seconds, just as they began to hear cheers, applause, and comments from the other drivers, who were watching the couple enthralled, as they had never shown themselves in such a way during their years in Formula 1.
"Carry on with what you're doing!" the four-time world champion shouted, trying not to sound angry. "I don't want anything left unfinished!"
Y/N couldn't help but blush and lower her head in embarrassment at all the attention she was drawing.
"Um... shall we start now, darling?" the journalist spoke again, trying to regain control of the situation.
"Yes, yes, of course. Go ahead, ask me anything."
She quickly pulled out her notebook, where she had written down a large number of questions to ask her husband as if she hadn't actually worked hand in hand with him on the project. She tried to maintain professionalism despite the still uncomfortable situation they were immersed in.
Seb, who seemed to notice how tense the woman was, decided to do things a little differently, although it was more than obvious that it took him some effort to take the first step.
Quickly and with trembling hands, he wrapped his right arm around his wife's waist and slowly guided her to sit on the ground next to him. She resisted at first because, deep down, she was also afraid to show herself as she truly was with the love of her life; but when she saw how the German also invited the cameraman who was filming them to sit on the ground, she knew there was no choice but to listen to the guy who initially meant nothing to her but ended up becoming her everything.
"More comfortable like this, right, schön?" Sebastian wanted to know, even though he already knew the answer.
"Yes, I think it will be more comfortable, darling," she replied, allowing herself to be guided by her husband's behavior, although once again blushing slightly.
With her head resting on his shoulder, the journalist took her notebook in her hands again, flipping through the page where she had the first question of what would undoubtedly be the most fake interview not only she had ever done but probably would do in her extensive career as a journalist.
"Well, let's start, darling. What inspired you the most to start this biodiversity project?"
"Well, as you know, I've always felt a special connection with nature and the environment. Do you remember the conversations we used to have, like, I don't know, about twelve or thirteen years ago?" she nodded. Of course, she remembered. How could she forget when he revealed to her how much the issue mattered to him at his home in Monaco, even before they had started dating? "I wanted to do something to show the importance of biodiversity, so these bee hotels seemed perfect to me."
"And why Suzuka, Seb?"
"Do you really need an answer to that question?" the man countered, raising an eyebrow. "I thought you already knew."
Now it was Y/N who looked less than pleased. Of course she knew why he had chosen Suzuka, it's just that the viewers, possibly, didn't.
"Suzuka is a very special place for me, both professionally and personally," the German continued. "This place has witnessed many important moments of my life, and I wanted to somehow give back everything it has done for me. Its people, I mean," he hastened to add. The journalist laughed at the incoherence of the response, earning herself a playful punch on the arm and some affectionate insults.
The interview continued in such a way that, more than a recording that would be broadcast on various media later, it seemed like one of those informal chats the couple used to have in their room, lying on the bed they both shared, after reading a story to their children and leaving them completely asleep.
Laughs, knowing looks, and even some intimate memories that ended up being revealed to the camera flowed effortlessly. Sebastian couldn't stop playing with Sally's hands and hair, caressing them so delicately that she seemed like a porcelain doll. The journalist, on her part, couldn't stop running her index finger up and down her husband's arm, writing invisible messages about how much she loved him.
"To finish I'd like to know something, darling. How was the process of designing and building each one of those bee hotels?"
"As you already know, and for those who are watching, I was lucky to work with a local carpenter yesterday. We worked on them all day long, and even part of the night. There are eleven in total: one for each team, and one for me," replied the German with a big smile.
His wife started laughing, and her lips twisted in a way that it wasn't hard for Vettel to recognize that his wife was hiding something.
"In fact, there are twelve, Seb," the journalist said with a playful tone.
"What do you mean twelve?" he asked, quite confused. "Love, you were there yesterday. There were eleven. One for each team, one for every two drivers, and another for..."
"I made one myself and I painted it too. Well... some parts are already painted because I asked the kids, secretly, to paint them so you could have a little piece of them here..."
The former driver was impressed by his wife's confession, and he couldn't help but feel emotional. Even a couple of tears threatened to leave his eyes when he saw Y/N, completely excited, getting up from the grass and fixing her clothes before reaching out her hand to him.
"What are you waiting for, Seb? Come on, you have to see it!"
Seb followed her, feeling a mix of very strange emotions after sharing life with this girl for so many years. When they arrived, they stopped in front of it, Britta taking photos from every possible angle and then starting a video call with the couple's children, who were staying with Seb’s parents.
"Schön, this is... God, I have no words. It's incredible."
Y/N smiled proudly before heading towards the structure and start explaining him everything.
"I've drawn us here, right in the front," indeed, there were two larger figures next to three smaller ones, surrounded by flowers and trees. "And here are the kids' drawings. Honestly, I don't know what they've drawn, but... I knew it would make you happy to have a little piece of them too."
The blonde bent down in front of the hotel made by his wife, examining it carefully as he traced with his fingers the strokes that Emily, Matilda, and Ben had made who knows when, and that seemed to have been well hidden. They were simple, clumsy, but he knew that behind them there was something much more important: the purest love he had ever experienced and that nothing and no one could surpass, not even his wife.
"It's wonderful, Y/N. You have no idea what this means to me."
Y/N could only approach her husband and give him a chaste kiss on the lips, not caring this time what happened next.
"I did it for you, Seb. I love you, we love you," she corrected herself, turning towards the mobile phone in front of them that Britta still held, referring to their children, who could be heard excitedly. "You are the sunshine of our lives and you deserve much more than this."
Sebastian didn't hesitate to, once again, kiss Y/N, and then hug her tightly, continuing to give her kisses on her temples.
"I wouldn't be the sunshine of your life if you weren't in it," he whispered in her ear. "You are the sunshine of my life. I love you, Y/N. Thank you for everything."

I think you're full of shit! Yuki Tsunoda x Artist! Reader
Plot: You get lost in Japan when your travelling to get inspo when a boy claims he drives really fast cars.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You were currently lost in Japan, you'd been on your way to an art gallery and studio when you'd taken one wrong turn and ended up in the middle of Tokyo.
You also didn't know enough Japanese to get you out of this situation and you didn't want to be that annoying tourist. So you set yourself up in a public park opposite a huge cherry blossom tree in full bloom that was hanging over the lake there.
Your easel was out facing the direction you intended to paint while all of your tools were rested in your little pop up desk to the side of the easel. You been painting for at least two hours now, only having captures the basics of the landscape.
You were getting hungry but knew you couldn't just leave the art here incase someone tried messing with it or stealing it. So you continued on, some people would come up and gasp when they saw what you were painting, the compliments in Japanese getting more and more common as your painting started to get to the final few steps until it would be done.
"Hello" a voice calls from behind you causing you to flinch a little, the English catching you off guard. Luckily your brushes were no-where near the canvas that had your art on.
"Oh!" you smile looking at the man that was standing behind you gazing from the art to the backdrop that you were using as your muse.
"That's really good!" he smiles stepping next to you, and you now notice that your a little taller than he is, however that was an uncommon thing in Japan with you being on the taller side of women.
"Thank you, I erm wasn't actually supposed to paint here but I'm really glad I did. It's a beautiful location" you admit looking around the other area of the part that the square of your canvas wasn't capturing.
"Where were you supposed to paint?" he asks.
"Erm, some gallery in Shinjuku, but I got lost and I ended up here. I didn't want to look like one of those annoying tourists!" you smile awkwardly.
"Well, I don't know about you still being able to paint in the studio but the gallery should still be open if you want me to take you there?" he offers and you eye him carefully.
"How do I know you aren't going to kidnap me?" you ask crossing your arms.
"I have a reputation that I would heavily damage if i did do that!" he jokes but see's that you still don't look convinced.
"I drive for a living, in really really fast cars" he offers to you, making you cock your head to the side. So he was on TV, and drove cars if he had a reputation.
"So like Top Gear?" you ask.
"Mmm not exactly more competitive than that" he laughs and you look over him again.
"I think your full of shit!" you laugh, not believing this kind and humble man has any ounce of fame behind him.
"Mmm, come find out!" he offers and you look at him like he's crazy.
"Sorry?" you laugh.
"I'm an F1 Driver, I'll get you tickets if your still here for the Grand Prix next week. It's my home race after all" he offers, of course you'd heard of the racing sport but you weren't ever one to pay much attention to it.
"Alright, you've got yourself a deal..." you press wondering his name.
"Yuki, my name's Yuki!" he smiles. You slowly start to pack up, having finished your painting when you were first talking to him.
"I need to take this all back to my hotel first, then can you take me to the gallery?" you ask, making sure all your paints were sealed so they wouldn't spill out into your shoulder bag.
"Sure, where are you staying?" he asks and you show him the address of the hotel on your phone, you both walk back through the streets of Tokyo him pointing out little things you'd missed in your time here. He brought up other places that he thought you'd like to paint and in seconds had you rambling about how you didn't just paint you just preferred to.
You'd got to the hotel in just a 30 minute walk and you placed all your stuff back in your room making sure the canvas wasn't near anything that would make it too hot and run. You grabbed your professional camera knowing having Yuki around he'd find some good places for you to get photos of the city.
In minutes you were back out on the busy streets of Tokyo Centre, as you were going across the Shibuya crossing Yuki grabbed your hand so you wouldn't get lost. With it being the late afternoon, all Japanese office workers were finishing their days up in the office and heading for their commute out of the city.
"It's very busy so you have to stay close!" he yells a little over the loudness of the crowd on the crossing.
"I know, I'm right here" you beam back, watching roughly where the end of the crossing was coming too. You could see the gallery at the end of the road Yuki was starting to head down and you could already tell it was going to be fantastic with the architecture from the outside.
"Oh woah, let me get a picture!" you exclaimed, the way the sun set down the street flickering off the building and the way it light up the graphic design on the back of Yuki's denim jacket.
"Oh sorry! I'm ruining your shot" Yuki says stepping to the side noticing you looking through your camera and kneeling down to get the perfect shot.
"No no stay back where you were facing away. You looked great!" you say looking at his bright smile through the camera making you snap an picture of him facing you and laughing.
"Are you sure your this super fast race car driver not a model?" you shout over to him as he starts to squat in a pose for you.
He comes over wanting to see the work done, the pictures he's been in.
"Woah, you have such an artistic eye." he smiles looking through the pictures you'd caught. Seeing how it made him look exactly like you said ... a model.
You continued to the gallery and walked around with Yuki, taking pictures and checking out the art.
"I really want to be in a gallery like this one day" you sigh looking at a particular group of paintings that had a similar style to yours.
"Mmmm i think you will. You really have an eye for all this!" he smiles.
"Thank you, really!" you smile.

Note
bucket here
I’d just like to note that the instant I sent the ask I started writing in the hopes you would say yes and I like actually squeaked I was so happy when you did and also I’ve been writing nonstop since then so bear with me:
*takes deep breath* Safety restrictions were famously lax in F1 until the 1990s. The deaths of Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna within days of each other at the 1994 Imola GP sparked a huge movement for new safety systems, especially barrier changes. As Senna and Ratzenburger both died in accidents related to the fact that the safety barriers at the edges of tracks were just CEMENT WALLS, this was a huge push for many teams, drivers, and tracks. No one wanted the death of more legends on their hands. These accidents also inspired additions like headrests in 1996 and the HANS system (head and neck support), put in place in 2003. HANS can be seen when drivers get out of the car — it’s that space-age looking neck brace/strap on their shoulders and helmet.
Some safety systems that are much less talked about are things like the accelerometer, first used in 2014 and placed in the drivers ear. This measures the forces during impacts, and its location in the ear allows both for less invasive placement and accurate data on head/neck movement for drivers. This then leads to better safety systems capable of being studied, reasoned for, and implemented. The addition in 2016 of a camera that faces the driver also allows for safety teams to see exactly how the driver is affected during crashes, as well as giving fans a fun camera angle (which I can rant about as well, camera angles in F1 are a huge thing for me).
Rapid fire safety systems (there will be a quiz):
Helmets were first introduced in 1952, but not required until 1977.
Seatbelts/racing harnesses required starting 1972.
Fireproof race suits have been required since 1975.
The safety car didn’t even exist until 1993 (trial runs in 1992, first seen in 1973 Canadian GP)
Pit lane speed limit introduced in 1994. Yes, before this they just ripped through as fast as they could; no, the pit crews didn’t stand any further away.
Wheel tethers introduced in 1999 after an unholy amount of incidents going back to pre-1950 (AKA official F1 start) where the wheels just came off and smacked drivers, marshals, and fans, usually killing them instantly.
The most notable safety system recently is the Halo and VSC (virtual safety car). The halo was put in place in 2018 and will hopefully never leave. It has been the savior of hundreds of lives throughout Formula series, but most well known in Formula 1 were Lewis Hamilton (2021 Monza GP, stopped Max Verstappen's car from becoming a permanent fixture in the side of his head) and Romain Grosjean (2020 Bahrain GP, pushed the crash fencing up away from his head as he hit the barriers), as well as possibly Zhou Guanyu (2022 British GP, flipped upside down and up over tire barriers into catch fencing) and Max Verstappen (2021 British GP, incredibly hard hit into a tire barrier — 51G impact at 160 MPH/257 KPH).
There had been a number of close calls that brought up the possibility of halos, like Fernando Alonso almost having his head removed from this world at Spa in 2012 on lap one, and an incident between Michael Schumacher and Vitantonio Luizzi at Abu Dhabi in 2010 that left Luizzi’s Force India inches from Schumacher’s face.
Unfortunately, it took the horrific death of Jules Bianchi in 2014 at the Japanese GP and a number of junior driver fatalities for the Halo to be finally seriously considered and implimented. Bianchi’s incident also led to the Virtual Safety car, which was put in place in 2015 to keep accidents like his from happening. I can talk more about his incident as well if you’d like. It’s a masterpiece of administrative fuck ups and terrible oversights.
(Ask me about it and camera angles I dare you)
HELLO BUCKET
this is wonderful thank u thank u
i did know a little about the senna crash (tho not the concrete barriers) (i do know that when it happened they were trying to revive the drivers union which is awful) and the bianchi crash (i looked at that quite extensively for update post) but Yeesh yeah the safety stuff is Terrifying. pls. pls tell me about the camera angles.

So I introduced my brother to f1 (yes, the same brother who's got a teacher called verstappen) and here are some of his first impressions and reactions :
"So Ferrari is like the Real Madrid of f1?"
^ he keeps making football comparisons. I know nothing about football so I'm not much help.
He's got a personal beef with Checo. I might be the cause of it, but the fact that his first race was Canada might play into it
He started getting a lot of f1 videos on his ig fyp, and he seems to like "the Japanese guy who want to open a restaurant"
Similarly, he roots for "Charles' teammate who looks like a funny guy"
He also claimed Carlos as one of ours because he looks like he's from our ethnicity according to him (he is not, btw. we are barely even European??)
On the same topic he seems to be sad about the separation of charlos next year ( "how could they separate this duo??")
He also roots for Pierre
"But Max seems like a good dude actually"
He quotes the iconic "I am stupid"
Realized that Max was an unfair comparison to other drivers because of how good he is
Also not to call him unlucky but everyone he rooted for either couldn't make it to q3 or had to dnf (the two ferraris, pierre in the quali, yuki during the race)

f1wagsnews 1/3/2023 - YN LN, fashion model, was seen walking home alone after what looked like an argument in the parking garage with long term boyfriend/F1 driver, Lorenzo Berkshire. She had apparently surprised him at his job with the help of his fellow team driver, but she had immediately walked out of the building almost in tears. The conversation was spoken softly but despite LN's typical sweet tone was replaced by a very stern one. The conversation included about Berkshire's stressed in his racing career and her career as a high-paid model while touching on the rumors of Berkshire's infidelity. It was unclear to the paparazzi whether YN believes if the rumors are true or if Berkshire had fessed up, but it was certain that the two were not okay.

Lorenzo Berkshire, F1 Driver is rumored to have cheated on long-time girlfriend of 4 years, Y/N L/N. It was said that he cheated the night of the Japanese Grand Prix on October 9th. It was the same sunday that his fellow driver of McLaren would go on to win the Japanese Grand Prix, which has been the assumption that made Berkshire blow off the steam by cheating.
Tumblr media
An anonymous tip from a news outlet sent this picture in which is Berkshire and mystery model making out on October 9.
Sources from Deuxmoi saw that the infidelity was not a one off on one night, but it was a continuous thing up until the Austin Grand Prix Weekend (October 21 - October 2023). The other party has not been named yet, but it is said that she is a lower scale model compared to Y/N L/N.
Lorenzo Berkshire and Y/N L/N have said been together since 2018. They were schoolmates prior to dating, and they started during their second to last year at their academy. It was also rumored that the two were supposedly going to get engaged during the winter break, but now it has been filled with these rumors.

f1wagsnews — 1/20/23, Y/N L/N was found out and about with drivers, Theodore Nott, Mattheo Riddle, and Draco Malfoy (+ GF Lilianna Snow). Her boyfriend, Lorenzo Berkshire, was nowhere to be found. The two have not been spotted together since January 3rd where they were found outside of the McLaren building arguing.
Close insiders have said the two are no longer together which may have been due to Berkshire's cheating rumors.
All mentioned drivers are said to be in close contact with Berkshire. Though, each one including L/N has unfollowed him on Instagram.

can i request one for the paddock princess series where y/n is like really like protective of yuki and will like defend him to the death (maybe even going as far as trying to learn Japanese so he has someone to talk to in his language) and at first people assume she has a crush on him but really its because he reminds her of an old friend of hers or like a family member she really misses. any length is fine but the longer the fic the better <3
MY LITTLE BRO
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
PAIRING… f1 x driver!reader | WC… 0.8k | Masterlist
Tumblr media
You have a large range of different dynamics with the drivers on the grid, many consisting of father-daughter like relationships as well as sibling like love.
Many fans have constantly pointed out the fact that you treat Yuki as if he were your younger brother, despite him being older than you.
Unfortunately, other fans believe that you have feelings for the boy, stating that the way you act around him ‘shows’ that you love him. You obviously found this ridiculous and chose to ignore the rumours, already pointing out that you, in fact, have a boyfriend but still decide to not respond and make the whole situation worse.
He’s always talked about how you were the first driver to properly greet him during his first F1 race and how kind you were to him. You had initially found him adorable, especially due to the fact that he was pretty much your height and so this love consequently spiralled into you treating him as you treat your own little brother.
You obviously miss your own little bro, travelling around the world constantly meant you could only see your family a few times a year, mainly during your breaks. This would probably explain why you have such familial relationships with many of the drivers, to which they also love.
Lot’s of moments have been shared with the boy. Like when you finally got pole in quali, or when he opened up to you on how secluded he felt from the other drivers, mainly due to his heritage. That quickly lead you to try and learn Japanese to help him feel included.
Another moment would be when you invited him over to your house to finally meet your family and he was forever grateful for you letting him have another home he could always come back to.
Many found your actual brother and substitute brother’s interactions to be quite amusing, the constant arguments between the two, trying to prove that they were your favourite. Of course, your blood brother was your favourite, Yuki knew that, he just loved to rile up your brother to get a reaction.
With all that said, you were absolutely ecstatic for the boy when he finished the recent season with his highest finish yet. Of course it helped that you had become the World Champion for that season, managing to pull a hand on Red Bull and just finishing above Max, which he was not too happy about.
You were both so proud of each other, enclasping yourselves into a tight hug.
After the podium celebration, you brought to the interview section, the welcoming smile of the reporters already calming down your nerves.
“First off Y/n, congratulations on the win and newfound title!” The interviewer exclaimed, earning a large smile from you.
“Thank you.”
“How are you feeling?” He asks.
“Well, I’m ecstatic to say the least. This moment just feels so unreal, to be able to say that I’m a World Champion is something I always dreamed of but I never believed would actually come true.” You ramble, unable to continue from the excitement.
“Many have loved watching your celebrations with both your team, and fellow drivers. Could we just ask about the hug you shared with Tsunoda after the race?” You nod your head lightly.
“The hug we shared was our way of congratulating each other. He’s like my little brother and so I was so proud of him as he achieved his best finish this season. Of course there have been a lot of questions but he’s basically like family, just like how Seb, Lewis, and many of the other drivers are.” You conclude before bidding goodbye and moving on. Yuki was quick to fill in your place, ready to answer the questions.
“To start off, congratulations on the great finish.” He says.
“Thank you.” Yuki responds.
“There have been many celebrations today and so we’d like to know how you’ll spend the rest of the evening.”
“Well, I’ll probably party with other drivers.” The boy giggles. “I’ll also call my family.”
“We saw you congratulating the new World Champion after the race, how proud are you?” The interviewer asks.
“I’m so proud of her, I’ve watched her grow throughout the season and to see her finally achieve her dreams was nice.” Yuki answers, smiling.
“How would you describe your relationship with Y/n?”
“I’d describe it as special. She’s been there for me from my first race and she’s done so much for me. She even tried learning Japanese for me so I could feel more included. She’s basically like an older sister.” Yuki finishes, reminiscing the moments he’s shared with you thus far.
You all eventually finish up the interviews and decide to go out together, celebrating the many achievements from today’s race as well as the finishing up of the season.
You had made sure to give Yuki yet another massive hug as you had witnessed his interview, loving the fact that he also pictures you as an older sister.

Vettonso x Similar Helmets
SV Germany 2012 x FA Monaco 2013: Gold & Dark Red
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think a lot about Vettonso and their mutual relationship witn gold. They're both golden boys, they're both seen lit gold by the sunshine on many podiums throughout the years, both have worn golden boots, and as you can see here: both have worn golden helmets. The parallels in these particular helmets makes me feel insane. Both are: gold with dark red accents, both have their birthplace's coat of arms(Bergstraße and Asturias), both have team animal motifs, and both have symbols to represent their two championships(You by now know the signifigance of the ones on Fernando's helmet, but I think the ones on Seb's are actually a callback to his Formula BMW days when he used to put the smiley stickers on his car for every win.)
And did you know both of these helmets were designed by the same helmet design company? Yep, both of these are JMD helmets. I know JMD helmets are/were pretty popular, but still, there's something to me about Fernando commissioning the same designer that Seb has been using since he was a literal child. Parallels, am I right?
SV Japan 2010 x FA Japan 2023: White with Black & Red
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Haha I remember @protocolseben and I discussing this a bit back in September when Fernando's helmet dropped. I honestly think Seb is such an innovator and trailblazer in terms of helmet design, and you can see his influence in helmet design as recently as this past season. I'm not sure if he was the first ever driver to don a matte white helmet with red accents as a representation of the Japanese flag, but it certainly envoked him in my mind when I saw Fernando's!!
I think Fernando's is pretty similar to all of Seb's 2010-2012 Japan helmets but I like this one the most so! I think if Seb wasn't restrained by the Red Bull logo, he def wouldv'e put the red circle where Nando put his so I think Fernando did a really good job, even if unintentionally, at emulating Seb's sense of design.
SV Singapore 2012 x FA Singapore 2012: Sparkly!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like I said in the one above, it's crazy how much Seb influenced helmet design. He was pretty much the pioneer of sparkly helmets for Singapore, right? It drives me absolutely insane that there's actually pictures of them together in such similar designed helmets. It's kinda funny actually that even though they're pretty deep in the championship fight at this point, and Seb just got one up on Fernando; Fernando is wearing a helmet that is a direct influence from Seb!!! Is that not insane???
Also, Fernando trying to be camp with trying the now in vogue sparkly Singapore helmet, and Seb accidentally completely blew him out of the water with his outrageous light up LED constellation helmet. But god yeah....to have pics of them in matching helmets from this era particuarly makes me emotional ;;;
SV Hungary 2021 x FA 2022: Pink with Dark Blue
Tumblr media
I really could've picked any of Seb's 2021 helmets, but I thought this one matched the best with Fernando's main 2021 helmet(with the color pallet.) Also one thing, it's crazy how much control BWT has as a sponsor, I don't think I've ever seen another sponsor go so hard at having a chokehold on individuality. I like that we got pink liveries and pink helmets, but I don't think they should have that much control.
I'm almost kinda sad there wasn't any Miami GP in 2021, because I think that was the only unique helmet Fernando had in 2022. But these match pretty well! Pretty in pink!! It's crazy that their parallels in the 2020s are ongoing even before Fernando actually takes over Seb's seat. Thanks BWT I guess?
SV Abu Dhabi 2022 x FA Abu Dhabi 2022: Fernando's Seb Tribute Helmet
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AND HERE WE HAVE THE PIÈCE DE RÉSISTANCE!!! The ultimate conclusion, it literally couldn't get better than this!! This is still unbelievable, like how is this an actual thing that happened!? Fernando intentionally branding his helmet, the only symbol of individuality in F1, with his rival's flag colors, HIS FLAG!!!!! Not to mention the literal "Vettono Best Moments" collage he posted alongside it....and the hand-holding....and everything that happened with them at Abu Dhabi 2022....
But god, after years of incidentally making parallel helmet designs, Fernando decided to officially tie the knot of the red string of fate, and make a helmet directly referencing Seb's. I think it's funny because as I said with two of the previously mentioned ones, those Fernando designs are pretty much inspired by Seb's, and here he is openly making one directly inspired by Seb. I don't really have words for how this actually makes me feel because it's just. Yeah. The most open and clear declaration of love and respect and admiration one could ever make. TO ME.
#all of my posts subheading should be: 'its probably not that deep BUT-'#i can't believe ive made two deeply researched and beloved posts in a row one day after the other#posts sponsored by: 12 am red bull consumption. my all-consuming devotion and love for vettonso. and my unwillingness to do schoolwork#i mean i felt a lot of emotions and had fun making it but like. hey. could you put this effort into school?#anyways feeling deeply emotionally affected about helmets and their symbolism#i think in the entirety of f1 seb and fernando are two of the most dedicated and passionate about helmet designs and symbolism?#so this post is very special to me :] helmet fuckers unite <3#again: they say they aren't friends and don't share any hobbies and im just staring at them like YOU IDIOTS!!!#its just that spongebob meme of him pointing out the trashcans. like guys. be fr rn. you totally share hobbies#both like helmet design. paddel and pingpong. sustainability. cars. racing. european football. THE LIST GOES ON AND ON#well im glad they swapped helmets at some point(i think nando gave seb two pretty old ones as well. now thats dedication!)#if they werent cowards i bet they couldve also had a 5+ hour long discussion about helmet design ;;;;;;#thinking also about how fernando has one of seb's in his museum >:) but if only it were one of the ones on this list. sigh.#normal posts that catie normally makes in a normal fashion#well lmk if theres any other vettonso helmets you think are similar!!! im pretty blind to seb helmets that arent rbr era tbh#sebastian vettel#fernando alonso#f1#formula 1#vettonso#we do a little bit of f1

Driver Profiles: Oscar Piastri
Hello, this is part of a series where I focus on one driver on the current (as of Oct 2024) grid and give an overview over their career and driving styles. I will be going in championship points order. Enjoy!
Tumblr media
Name: Oscar Jack Piastri
Age: 23
Nationality: Australian
Years in F1: 2 (Mclaren 2023-Present)
Number: 81
WDCs: N/A
Driving Style: Piastri is most well known for his calm demeanor, and it is incredibly rare to see him ruffled. This also translates to his driving, which is composed, methodical, and precise. He is one of the cleanest drivers on the grid right now (rare for a rookie) and since the Mclaren car started having more boost this year, he has shown to be ambitious. As he spends more time in F1, he is beginning to gain recognition for his overtakes. Many have noted that he overtakes when people least expect him to, essentially meaning he is not really following the typical overtake playbook. We saw this happen against Leclerc in Baku 2024 and Norris in Monza 2024. While he is still new to the grid, he has shown he can adapt very quickly to high levels of competition. My only criticism is that he tends to not qualify particularly well. If he could fix this one aspect, he would be on the podium (at least) every race with that speedy Mclaren car.
History:
Son of a wealthy businessman, Piastri started his karting career in 2011. By 2014 he had gone professional, and competed in various Australian races and championships. 2015 he began competing in European and other CIK-FIA karting championships . In 2016 he moved to the UK in order to further his career.
Tumblr media
(young Piastri in karting)
In 2016 Piastri landed his first big sponsor, which allowed him to enter into single seater racing for the first time. Later in 2016, Piastri made his single-seater debut in selected rounds of the Formula 4 UAE Championship  and claimed two podiums, taking sixth in the championship. He would go on to take part in F3, GP3, and F2. When he took part in British F4 championship he took 2nd place home. For the next few years he would make appearances in various different series and championships, but never gain himself a title.
Tumblr media
(Piastri, right, on European debut)
In 2020, PREMA Racing, the reigning F3 champions, signed Piastri for the upcoming season. It was during this season that his potential really came out, as he regularly found himself on podiums and on the top step. This led to him clinching the F3 World Championship for 2020 with a tight three-way battle. At the end of this season, Piastri announced he would be graduating up to F2 with PREMA Racing. He would go on to win 6 GP's for the 2021 season, and joined Charles Leclerc on the short list of drivers who won the F2 championship in their rookie year.
Tumblr media
(Piastri, 2019)
In 2020 Piastri joined Renault Sports Academy, and was the reserve drive for Alpine (Renault) in 2022. After Fernando Alonso left Alpine for Aston Martin, it was assumed by most (including Alpine) that Piastri would be part of their driver lineup in 2023. This, however, was proven to be false as Piastri had already signed a contract with Mclaren for the 2023 season, replacing Daniel Riccardo.
Tumblr media
(Piastri as Alpine's reserve driver)
The 2023 season at Mclaren was his first official year as an F1 driver. He had a rather impressive rookie year, getting up to 11th in the championship by the end. He acheived his first podium at the 2023 Japanese GP, taking third behind his teamate. Shortly after he received his highest finish in Qatar, taking 2nd place. While he did not match his teammate Lando Norris points wise, he was universally praised. Halfway through the season he reupped his contract with Mclaren, extending to 2026.
Tumblr media
(Piastri in the 2023 Mclaren)
The current season has seen Piastri get his maiden win. Unfortunately for the driver, his win at the 2024 Hungarian GP was doused in controversy, as a very public mess with team orders led fans to say the win was given to him by his teammate. He went on to get his 2nd win at the 2024 Azerbaijan GP (Baku) where he held off Charles Leclerc for 1st after a much admired overtake. This win was his first one without the cloud of controversy hanging over it. All in all, the 2024 season has shown that Piastri is a competitive driver.
Tumblr media
(Piastri on the podium in Baku)
Major Races:
2023 Japanese GP - Piastri's first podium displayed that he could battle with the top drivers. His consistency and control throughout the race are what helped him get up on the steps.
2023 Qatar GP - Piastri's second podium and highest finish in 2023. His composure was noted as a huge boon in this stressful race, and he only benefitted from the previous days sprint win. Wins always give drivers more confidence.
2024 Hungarian GP - A controversial win to be sure, but Piastri excelled in this race. He overtook his teammate early on in the race and held tight to the lead, only losing it after a Mclaren strat failure. His teammate was then ordered to give the position back, which led to Piastri's win, but nonetheless it was an excellent race by Piastri
2024 Azerbaijan GP - By far Piastri's most impressive race. Baku is an intimidating circuit, but Piastri took to it with ease. His overtake on Charles Leclerc mid race (which in itself was impressive) allowed him to stay ahead of the Ferrari. He then went on for a majority of the race with Leclerc less than a second behind him and putting pressure on. It was Piastri's calm head that won the race, as well as the minimal mistakes he made, not giving Leclerc a single chance to get by.
Alrighty that's it for Piastri. I know there are less major races than the others, but he has been in F1 for a short time. Up next is Carlos Sainz.
Cheers,
-B

notes: number 1) this can get outdated super easily… number 2) i also dont know how to link content as i dont use tumblr alot but upon request im remaking my twitter thread here number 3) im not putting the races in chronological order as im quite lazy
at the 2019 japanese gp, max and charles hit eachother into turn two.
max after the race on the crash:
“i just dont get it. there was no need to risk so much in turn two. cause at the end of the day, both of us had to pit.”
2019 austrian gp, 3 laps left into the race max overtook charles and won the grandprix.
charles at the postrace pressconference:
“as i said, ive done exactly the same thing from the first and the second lap so i didnt expect any contact on the second lap. as max said, i think he braked a little bit deeper. i dont know if he lost it or not but then there was the contact. i felt like i was quite strong in traction. on the first attempt i managed to have better traction and have my position. on the second one i couldnt do that cause i was off track.”
2019 silverstone gp, the race right after austria. max and charles closely battled for 10 laps straight
charles during the postrace press conference:
“the best move was probably the one on max, on the outside in copse, i think he just passed me and i passed him back around the outside of copse. i think that was definitely was one of the most exciting (moves) of the race… of my race!”
2020 sakhir gp, charles crashed into checo, forcing max to go wide and then also crash
max post race:
“i respect charles alot, hes a great driver but i think today was a bit too much. he asked me “what happened?” and i say “what do you mean “what happened” you crashed into sergio and i have to go around”. i think he will look back at the footage and i hope he will understand that that was maybe a bit too aggressive. which is a shame.”
charles on the beyond the grid podcast 2021, talking about his rivalry with max:
“its the same (their rivalry) at the moment its obviously a little bit deminished because i can not fight against him, unfortunately. but if you look at the fight in silverstone 2019, i think you can understand theres quite a bit of competition and its always been the case. i mean its nice; we have grown up together in karting weve been always fighting eachother and now we find ourselves again in formula 1. so its great and i cant wait to put the team back were it deserves to be and fight against max for the title.”
monaco gp 2021, during Q3 charles crashes which means max cant set a laptime
max postrace interview:
“he just clipped the wall initially and ended up where ive ended up twice [laughs] so its just unfortunate. ofcourse i am disappointed not to have a shot at pole but thats life, you know. sometimes you cant do it. i mean its fine, i dont think his lap should be deleted in the future if they want to make rule changes. i dont that would be fair.”
charles instagram post after the 2021 silverstone gp yes i am counting it too:
Tumblr media
max saying he prefers his rivalry with charles over the one he has with lewis, 2022
max to sky italy:
"i prefer what we have now because, first of all, charles i know very well, hes a nice guy, we are a similar age… on saturday night, we even had a laugh in paul ricard... we are hard competitors on the track and we will always try to beat each other, which i think is very normal, but outside of it you can have a good time as well, and thats what i really enjoy about this year."
max debunking that charles never forgave him for austria 2019 and racing together with him, 2022
max in a video interview:
"i never speak about these things with other drivers, i mean, it happens. ive lost wins as well, and its not the end of the world, you move on. i think charles is one of the most talented drivers in formula 1, and he will win many more races… i would say back in the day it was a little bit more difficult, but also we were very young and growing up and you are fighting for the same goal, right? now that youre in formula 1, i think it is really different. you are representing really big brands. so we get on very well now. we can have a good chat and enjoy our battles, and i think thats very nice. knowing each other for such a long time helps. weve spent so much time together, in a way."
2022 hungarian gp, max told the hungarian press he understands charles his frustration after the 2022 french gp
max to the hungarian press:
“everyone handles that (their disappointment) in a different way. some people need to reflect on it like that. at the time youre still a bit emotional from what just happened and maybe become a bit too emotional, but thats fine, people should be emotional, they should show their emotions."
charles on fighting with italian site corriere della sera, 2022 this is not an official translation sorry but i can link the source
charles:
“i like to deal with max, we have a similar level of aggression. we have fun, with respect. im not saying that last year there was no respect between max and lewis, but it seemed like a different duel than ours. but if we were to get to the end of the championship very close in points, the situation would be much more tense than it is now.”
max, also for corriere della sera in 2022
max:
“i have known charles since we were five years old, we are of the same generation and we grew up challenging ourselves on the track.”
max to viaplay, 2023 after charles crashed during Q3 of the miami gp, meaning he couldnt set a time and had to start from P8 (this is a livetranslation of mine post qualifying, so the quote isnt 100% spot on but you get the gist)
max:
“the red flag was annoying, but it happens on streetcircuits. it just sucks, i will have to cope and move on.”
monaco gp, charles had an interview with canal+ for its 10 year anniversary with formula 1. he got asked to name 10 drivers hes the closest with
charles:
“pierre without a doubt, carlos, lando, george, alex albon, yuki, lewis, max aswell eventhough most people dont think its the case but it is! esteban, and lance.”
this is it for now, i am a bit tired but thank the tumblr lords you can change posts later on so i can update it with ease later on. enjoys besties 🫡

DRS Universe Info Post
Hey all! This is going to be a long post, and it's going to break down a lot of my work on the universe!
🛑What is the DRS Universe?
The DRS Universe is a connected fictional Formula One-centric universe. The history of the sport generally follows the real world counterpart, and for the most part, the world is kept as similar to the real world as possible, but things such as sponsors, drivers, teams, wins and events throughout the history of the sport are brand new.
🛑General Info/Q&A:
🛑Why does the DRS Universe Exist? I'm a very big fan of F1 and of Writing, and I wanted to mix those things together and write an F1-Based novel. I'm also a fan of creating OC's and having more control over what I write, so it was only natural that I'd make my own teams and drivers. That expanded to stuff like sponsors and some brands and companies in the universe, etc. I tried to keep the broader strokes of the sports history accurate to the real world as well, but I made new, fictional historic drivers, events, dates, etc. 🛑What is the current season? The current season as of the novel I'm currently working on (shunted) is 2023! 🛑What is Shunted about? Shunted focuses Lance Adams and Alexandre Lareaux, enemies-and-rivals turned teammates. It follows them as they navigate the 2023 season, and even worse for both of them depending on how you look at it, their newfound friendship and possible romance. 🛑Why are there 11 teams? Because more teams + more drivers + more cars on track = more fun. Also, because I wanted 11 teams, and it's my universe.
🛑What are the teams?
(This is a list based vaguely on each teams' performance throughout the 2022 season.)

2010 Car Launch
Sebastian Vettel | Driver – Car 5
Sebastian Vettel’s first foray into Formula One saw him fined for speeding in the pitlane during the first ten seconds of his debut. It’s fair to say he hasn’t slowed down much since.
Fame and fortune hasn’t made any discernable impact on Seb (“What fortune?” he asks, bewildered). He still gives his cars girl’s names, argues that there are more exciting things in life than driving Formula One cars (but not many) and is proud of being taller than Rubens Barrichello. He loathes being referred as ‘the new Schumacher,’ and so is relieved to see his Race of Champions team-mate returning to F1.
Born 3 July 1987 in the town of Heppenheim, Germany, Sebastian enjoyed a successful career in karting before making an immediate impression the moment he came into open-wheel racing. Starting the 2003 season aged 15, he won five of 19 races in his debut Formula BMW year, finishing second in the German Championship. The next year he took the title, winning 18 of the 20 races (he finished on the podium in the other two but doesn’t like to talk about them).
It marked Vettel as one to watch and he duly tested F1 cars for Williams and BMW-Sauber, while moving up through the junior ranks, impressing in Formula 3 and the World Series by Renault. Vettel’s chance in F1 came when he replaced Robert Kubica as BMW-Sauber’s third driver in the second half of the 2006 season. In addition to incurring the Stewards’ wrath, Vettel’s debut during Friday practice for the Turkish Grand Prix also saw him finish the day top of the timesheets.
While the performance on track was impressive, everyone was equally knocked out by the confidence and effervescence with which the teenage Seb dealt with the garage and Paddock. The authority with which he spoke and the evident self-deprecating wit stood him out as much as the blistering pace.
Sebastian finally got his chance to race a year later, standing in for the injured Kubica at the United States Grand Prix. Still only 19, he qualified seventh and finished eighth, becoming the youngest man to score a Championship point. Later in the 2007 season he moved to a permanent seat at Scuderia Toro Rosso. He made a lasting impression on future team-mate Mark Webber (and the rear of his car) during the monsoon-hit Japanese Grand Prix at Fuji before bouncing back a week later to secure fourth place at an equally waterlogged Chinese Grand Prix.
Confirmed for 2008, Vettel didn’t have the best start to his first full season and crashed out of the first four races, mostly as a result of being dragged into other drivers’ accidents. Fortunately the crash-magnet curse was soon lifted and Vettel scored points at Monaco, Montreal, Hockenheim, Valencia, Spa, Singapore, Fuji and Interlagos – though the only race anyone properly remembers is the Italian Grand Prix at Monza.
On the back of a strong fifth place in Belgium, Vettel and Scuderia Toro Rosso went to Italy in good form. Torrential rain over the weekend failed to dampen their pace and Vettel duly became, first, the youngest driver to take pole position in Formula One history, and then the youngest race winner, having utterly dominated the race in which a rudder may have been of more use than a steering wheel.
Elevated to the senior Red Bull team for 2009, Vettel won his second, and Red Bull Racing’s first, victory at the third race of the year. He followed it with a string of podium and solid points-scoring finishes and established himself as a firm championship contender with a second, commanding victory in the British Grand Prix. He finished the season strongly with further victories in Japan and Abu Dhabi that, together with four other podium finishes, took him to second place in the Drivers’ Championship.
Definitely a follower of the ‘second is first of the losers’ philosophy, Sebastian has loftier ambitions for 2010. He lists his lifetime ambitions as winning the Formula One World Championship and beating Kimi Räikkönen at badminton.

Sebastian and the RB6
It was windy, it was cold - rain was just a matter of time. Sebastian‘s face was nearly covered by his Beanie cap, but despite the dark clouds he was in really good mood. The reason why? It was the moment when his new car was unveiled. Sebastian laughs: „Finally we are back on the track - the winter break was far too long."
Sebastian stands in front of his car and proudly he gives a short version explanation: „We were lucky to have the best of all cars during the second half of the season. That means we had a very good base right from the beginning, so we just had to develop the car. In contrast some of the opponents had to develop completely new designed cars."
The only real new part: „I got a new seat, it‘s like having a new chair. Beside that in general all the more than thousand parts of a Formula One car have been optimised. "I have a feeling I can reach my target"… So far I have not made a decision regarding the car‘s name. So ideas are welcomed.More next Friday: Today and tomorrow my team mate Mark will do the shake down and the first laps.
On Friday it will be my turn and so on Friday evening I will able to give you further information, about how the RB6´s handling qualities.

Jerez Test

JEREZ TEST – Day Three
Driver: Sebastian Vettel
Car: RB6 – 01
Laps: 59
Best time: 1.21.783
Circuit length: 4.423 km
Fastest lap: J. Alguersuari – 1:19.919
Sebastian Vettel drove Red Bull Racing’s 2010 championship challenger, the RB6, for the first time today, as he took over from Mark Webber on day three of the current four-day test in Jerez.
After an initial run on dry tyres, Sebastian was forced to use intermediate and extremes for the rest of the day as wet weather set in from 0945hrs. The team’s plan was to focus on aero-testing, but progress was hampered by deteriorating weather. By 1615hrs, conditions were so wet on track that Red Bull Racing, in line with the other Formula One teams testing in Jerez, decided to end the session early. Despite the weather, the car ran without any problems today.
Sebastian Vettel commented; “After three months, it was good to come back and drive the car – it felt okay and we didn’t have any big issues. Obviously the weather is not ideal for us to find out more about the car, but we knew the rain was coming so we didn’t mess around this morning and went straight out to do some laps. It then rained all day, but you could face these conditions in a grand prix, so it’s important to do laps in the wet. Overall, we didn’t do enough because of the weather, but I’m pretty happy.”
Sebastian will be driving the RB6 again tomorrow for the last day of this current preseason F1 test at the Jerez Circuit.
2010 Rider on the Storm
Sebastian Vettel | Driver – Car 5
"You can't influence the weather, we have seen that today. After a three month break, I was finally able to sit in the car today and it was good fun, I am still able to drive and the car feels good. This morning I did some (a few) laps in the dry the car went well straight away, but then it started raining and I had to park the car for some time in the garage. For sure it's a shame that it wasn't dry all day but also its possible to have rain in a race and so you have to learn to keep up with diffrent weather conditions. At the moment its still very difficult to give an idea of where everybody stands due to the new rules and the big tanks. The teams are driving with diffrent fuel levels and this also keeps changing. I hope it continues raining over night so that nothing is left for tomorrow and I can speed though all day, but as I said we have to see as we can't tell mother nature what to do..."

JEREZ TEST – Day Four
Driver: Sebastian Vettel
Car: RB6 – 01
Laps: 90
Best time: 1.21.203
Circuit length: 4.423 km
Fastest lap: L. Hamilton – 1.19.583
Sebastian Vettel was at the wheel of Red Bull Racing’s RB6 today for the final day of the current Jerez test. It was his second day of testing, as Mark Webber had driven on days one and two.
The team’s plan was to focus on set-up work and aero testing, although the weather once again played a part and damp conditions in the morning meant Sebastian began the day on intermediate tyres.
Conditions dried by lunchtime, but a fuel pump failure in the afternoon cost the team around three hours of dry running time. Sebastian ended the day with a final long run on dry tyres.
At the end of the RB6’s first test, Ian Morgan, Head of Race Engineering said: “It’s been a productive first week with the RB6, despite the weather and lack of dry conditions. We’re pleased with the car overall, it’s showing a lot of promise.” The next test will take place at the Jerez Circuit, starting on Wednesday 17 February.

Barcelona Test

Barcelona Test - Tag 2 (english version below)
Sebastian Vettel | Fahrer – RB6-01
Auto: RB6-01
Runden: 125
Bestzeit: 1.21,258 Min.
Während der Tests will man keine Schäden riskieren.
Barcelona Test - Day 2
Driver: Sebastian Vettel
Car: RB6 – 01
Laps: 125
Best time: 1.21.285
Circuit length: 4.655 km
Fastest lap: N. Hülkenberg – 1:20.614
The team drove its second race simulation, and at the end of the day Sebastian had completed 125 laps.
Ian Morgen, Head of Race Engineering said; “Today we experienced about a repeat of the race simulation that Mark drove yesterday. Everything went more or less according to plan. We again stopped the car during the simulation. This was a safety measure to control a few things. It was a small problem and we could continue soon after. Sebastian could finish the race simulation in full length before end of the test day. We ran many laps and are quite happy about the car.”
Sebastian Vettel said: “This was a good day – no large problems showed up. During the course of the afternoon we had to take a break due to a small thing, but that’s pretty normal with testing drives. On test days you don’t want to risk damage. For that reason it’s best to stop the car once there’s alarms in the background. Because it rained a lot in Jerez, we have a lot of work to do in the coming few days. For example we have to find out more about the tires and do a bit of coordination work.”
Sebastian Vettel will take the wheel again tomorrow before passing it back again to Mark on Sunday, the last test day.
Barcelona Test - Tag 3 (english below)
Sebastian Vettel | Fahrer – RB6-02
Auto: RB6-02
Runden: 44
Bestzeit: 1.23,123 Min.
Streckenlänge: 4,655 km
Tagesschnellster: N. Rosberg (1.20,686 km)
Barcelona Test - Day 3
Driver: Sebastian Vettel
Car: RB6 – 01
Laps: 44
Best time: 1:23.123
Circuit length: 4.655 km
Fastest lap: N. Rosberg – 1:20.686
Sebastian Vettel finished his second test day in Barcelona at the last test before the start of the season. The day was affected by rain. In the morning only few laps were run due to a mix of rain showers and technical problems. The afternoon showed to be more useful because the team worked on the race setup for the first race of the season in Bahrain. Sebastian reached his best time during the last lap of the day. Ian Morgan, Head of Race Engineering said; “After the nightly work in view of the program planned for the day we were late due to a few technical problems in the morning. After we got to driving in the afternoon, we managed to do three, four setup tests for the race in Bahrain. Those brought us clear results. Accordingly we finished the day in much better form.“ Tomorrow, on the last test day, Sebastian and Mark Webber will be sharing the car.

Barcelona Test - Tag 4 (english below)
Sebastian Vettel | Fahrer – RB6-02
Fahrer: Sebastian Vettel/Mark Webber
Auto: RB6-02
Runden: 137 (Vettel – 76; Webber – 61)
Bestzeit: Vettel: 1.20,667 Min.
Streckenlänge: 4,655 km
Tagesschnellster: L. Hamilton (1.20,472 Min.)
Barcelona Test - Day 4
Usually, my Tests would have concluded on Saturday, but due to the bad weather conditions I did not get to the distance I wanted. Because of that we agreed that I’d get back into the car Sunday morning. On Friday we did a race simulation where everything went more or less according to plan. Now we need to wait for the first race in Bahrain, today in two weeks, where everyone will drop their pants… We’ll have to work on our top speed until then, but all in all I’m rather happy with the car. By the way: I have a name already, but I’ll only share that one on my website the Monday before the GP…
Drivers: Sebastian Vettel/Mark Webber
Car: RB6-02
Laps: 137 (Vettel – 76; Webber – 61)
Best time: Vettel: 1:20.667
Circuit length: 4,655 km
Fastest lap: L. Hamilton – 1:20.472
After he spent less time on the track than expected, Sebastian was in the car in the morning, while Mark finished our preparations for the new season in the afternoon. Both drivers followed similar programs that the team successfully completed. The provisionally final setups for different tank fillings were found.
Ian Morgan, Head of Race Engineering, said; ”Because we lost some time yesterday, we couldn’t finish everything we set out to do with Seb. For that reason we went over more or less one and a half test days worth of work, which got us to 137 laps. That was a lot of turmoil but we managed to do a lot.
The last test went well for us. After limited testing opportunities on dry track during the tests in Jerez, the almost fully dry four days of testing here let us get back on course. During the course of the week we took great steps. These were very good test drives.”
Two weeks still separate us from the first World Championship race, the Bahrain GP.

So, I'm pretty sure George is going nowhere unless it's on his own will. Toto is not the only decision-making person in Mercedes, and the others seem to be very pro George. There has also been a lot of media content of him lately, not only in European/Western media, but also in China. There is no reason to let George go, especially not in his current form. Toto has been loud to praise him in German TV, has been defending him and they do have a comparable relationship, they know each other since George was 15. In my opinion, the Max/Kimi talk was about who gets the other seat and not about having both of them in one team, and Toto really like to stir up the media sometimes. Even if George decided to leave the team after 25, there will be many teams to gladly pick him up, so we should not worry. It's nothing but speculations after all. (and I have not heard anything about that handover, but that would be the most stupidest thing Mercedes could do. Lewis won 6 world titles with them, Kimi has never raced in F1 before. That's even more pressure to put on him, and he will not be the number 1 driver from the beginning as he has literally zero experience. I'm really hopeful to believe that Mercedes know that and don't expect anything from him in the first few races.)
So, I'm not a Russell fan (also not a hater, he's just not one of my favs), but I've been a Merc follower for a while now.
F1 is not only about markets and advertising, but it plays a huge part in it. Specially since Liberty took over. And the drivers today either win enough to be constantly on the up or they have a strong commercial appeal (in a ideal world you get both).
I, particularly, have noticed a different approach to media from Russell's team this year (it was due, honestly) and maybe I'm biased here, or haven't paid enough attention, but it is his third year in a Mercedes, and he's not as commercially appealing as he should be (kind not his fault to some extent).
I have a pretty wide access to Chinese and Japanese media (because of my work) and, again maybe I'm being biased, but even Alonso sells better than Russell in those markets. It's also nowhere near the likes of the Mclaren's, Honda powered drivers, Lewis, and Yuki/Zhou.
In the Americas, his position is slightly worse tbh. In the US, the Ferrari duo, Lewis and Checo are the main faces, and I really thought he'd have some sort of easier introduction in Latam with his first win being in Brasil, but he's just not there, (again, markets I have easy and wide access too)
Now, in Europe, I think that's where his biggest selling pool is. His image sells to the old-money/heritage type (and I have a personal view that that's like 1/4 of the reason it's so hard for him to sell in eastern/latam markets) but in Europe it hits the jackpot.
All this to say, I don't think Max is in contention to a seat so he gets to show how valuable he can be (commercially), because he's already a multiple wdc anyway, he's gonna sell regardless. Russell, we already have a somewhat decent outlook. Kimi's the one we have no idea of.
I also wouldn't take what Toto says to the media to heart. Like, at all. For a number of reasons but the main one being his loyalty is to his money. He is a business man, first and foremost.
Do I think Mercedes is actively planning to get rid of Russell atm? No, not in the near future. But for 2026 maybe. And not only because of driving, or season results alone, but because F1 and the teams need to sell, and George's image sells to a very specific demographic.
Now, as for leaving only on his own will. Anon, please it's F1. It's Mercedes. They forced Lewis, of all people, to leave. The guy who won 6 wdc and 8 wcc with them. And I hope Russell's camp is not as dense as Sainz's and their blind belief he was irreplaceable (because no one in that circus is).
But I do agree George probably has a good couple of almost garanteed seats should he leave Mercedes.

Right.
Let's talk about safety and how it used to be back then since so many old ass man believe that apparently driver have never once believed that races should be cancelled because of the danger they pose.
After his crash in 1966 at Spa that could have killer him, Jackie Stewart advocated for run off areas, emergency personal etc. When his demands weren't meet at tracks like the Nürnburgring he led the boycotts.
Niki Lauda gave up a potential championship in Japan after his horrible accident in 1976. After two laps of rain at the Japanese GP he retired because he didn't want to risk his life. He told his mechanis to not lie and tell the truth about his retirment. At the debrief before the race multiple drivers including his championship rival James Hunt had talked about not racing in these conditions.
That same James Hunt (often used as symbol for masculinity and the "good Old F1 days") completly understood Laudas decision and even talked himself about how dangerous it was to race in those unsafe conditions.
Aryton Senna spoke out about a potential safety risk due to the safety car on the weekend that he died. He as well as Gerhard Berger discussed the fact that during a safety car period the tyres would be far too cold in Imola. Senna even spoke to Sid Watkins who advised him not to race. Senna's death would pave the way to a much more safe F1 starting with the Hans system as one of the first measures.
Nigel Mansell another driver who had a famous crash has praised the amazing safety standards that F1 has and mentioned multiple times how glad he is to see drivers getting out of the car.
But the safety devices don't stop with the push of the older drivers. Sadly Jules death was a wake up that gave us the Halo. The most recent edition to safety would be the increased fire protection gloves after Romains crash.
If you want to use any of these older man to show some stupid form of toughness you are wrong. They have all either advocated for better safety in the sport or taken the necessary steps to ensure their safety and possibly the safety off others.
And while most have pushed for physical changes they would have also pushed for regulations of the FIA which would impact the race conditions.
If you would ask the older champions or even older drivers I can assure you they would all want the drivers to be safe. They would implore the FIA to implant rules as to when drivers physically can not drive anymore.
Because every older driver has seen at least one colleague die in a measure that now seems preventable and they would all not wany any of the current drivers to experience that ever.

F1 Driver's Championship winners who switched teams right after they won it
This post was inspired by a question asked by @vro0m the other day. Although they were asking about drivers who left WCC winning teams, i thought drivers champions who ditched their teams would be interesting as well.
Juan Manuel Fangio, 1956->57; Ferrari->Maserati. (was known to drive for a different team after each of his championship wins up yo this point, but its important to note those times had to do with his teams leaving the sport. The only time it was his decision was 1956->57)
Alberto Ascari, 1953->1954; Ferrari->Lancia (Not paid enough, perhaps on the grounds that he was risking his life)
Denny Hulme, 1967->68; Brabham->McLaren (can't find a source on this one but he was extremely close to Bruce McLaren and had driven for him in other race series. To give an idea of why i think their closeness could have been a factor, he was considered a man of fewer words and emotions than Kimi Raikonen, but openly weeped at Bruces death in 1970 during a testing accident)
Jackie Stewart, 1969->70; Matra->Tyrell (this could be semantic. Matra International was a "privateer" team from 1968->69 which was actually a collab between Tyrell the man and the french company Matra. The name of Stewart's team changes from 69-70 because Tyrell the man prefered maintaining a working relationship with Ford whereas Matra was moving on to Chrysler. Wikipedia articles partially seem to think the Tyrell team is basically a continuation of the Matra International team the year prior since Tyrell the man was technically the team owner of each. Matra however enters a works team in 1970 that also ran one race in 1969 so its confusing. )
Jochen Rindt, Honorable mention; he died in the Italian GP practice in 1970. He had such a big lead he still won the championship in spite of his passing.
Nikki Lauda, 1977->78; Ferrari->Brabham (Nikki's huge accident that almost killed him in the 1976 season changed his outlook on racing in exceptionally poor weather conditions. As a result, he refused to race in the 1976 Japanese GP, and lost the championship to James Hunt in the process. Ferarri was pissed about this and it deteriorated his relationship with Ferrari severely for the 1977 season. After being treated so poorly (even in the driver lineup from his point of view) he decided to leave despite winning the championship. Its important to note however that he's believed to have won by consistency despite the car's outright slower pace, so he might have also had technical concerns)
Nelson Piquet, 1987->88; Williams->Lotus (in 86 and 87 Piquet was racing alongside Nigel Mansel in a WCC winning Williams. According to Piquet he had an agreement with team owner Frank Williams that he would be the number one driver for 86, an agreement he felt was neglected after Frank got in a car accident and left the team in the management of Mansel's race engineer. Specifically, he was upset that Mansel was not ordered to let him pass for the race win on two occasions that year, and had he been let through he would have been champion rather than Alain Prost. The relationship never recovered from that, but for some reason Piquet waited to leave. It is worth noting that he signed for Lotus before winning the 87 championship. Additionally Mansel finished first in more races than him that year but lost because of Piquet's podium consistency)
Alain Prost, 1989->1990; McLaren->Ferrari (ho boy. Long story partially short, Prost believed Honda (engine supplier) favored Senna, and therefore so did McLaren for the 1988-89 seasons, to the point of even giving Senna a better engine in the 1989 season. Supposedly for the 1988 season a Honda employee confirmed the suspicion while speaking to Prost in person, but promised he'd do his best to change that for 89. Prost did not believe this had occured, as he felt his car was underperforming Senna's in 89. His biggest piece of evidence was that while running a better straight-line-speed setup than Senna in Mexico, he still was not being able to pass Senna by engine power on the straight. For Honda's part, they had a major press event where they tried to explain technically why Senna's driving style suited the engine better, but the employee giving the interview kept referring to prost by his surname but not Senna, which is a sign of a stronger personal relationship in Japanese culture and was taken as a sign of bias)
Nigel Mansell, 1992->93; Williams->N/A (retired)
Michael Schumacher, 1995->96; Benneton->Ferrari (Schumacher's official statement is that he abandoned his contract with Benneton a year early due to "the teams damaging actions in 1994" to use wikipedias wording. The teams actions include: software shenanigans where the car was found to have the supposedly unused ability to correct bad manual starts, which would give the driver the ability to have perfect starts regardless of their affectiveness with the clutch; ignoring a black flag for a safety car overtake; and having a skidblock that was so worn down it suggested Benneton was ignoring aero regulations)
Damon Hill, 1996->97; Williams->Arrows (this one doesny count because it was outside of Hill's control, but it's really funny. Williams sacked him in favor of Heinz-Harald Frentzen, whom i have never heard of and apparently would only ever win 3 F1 races in his career. Hill chose Arrows not because they were the best team with an offer, but because they wanted to pay him the most. His career sucked after that)
Fernando Alonso, 2006->2007; Renault->McLaren (wikipedia straight up just doesnt explain this. A reddit thread gives a lot of uncited opinions as to why, but a significantly large number of their users cite that McLaren was seen as a consistently top team in this era while Renault was seen as volitale. With Alonso signing for 2007 as early as late 2005, heres some possible factors: Renault's bizzare lack of commitment to staying in the sport; McLaren winning more races in late 2005 than Renault; Renault's success was partially attributed to weird tire rules).
Jenson Button 2009->10; Brawn->McLaren (Brawn was bought out to become mercedes, but was left to its Brawn leadership to still run the team. Jenson won the championship because of dominance at the beginning that was cut short by not developing the car enough. He still won overall, but Jenson asked for a larger focus on in-season developement for the next year as a condition for staying. Ultimately, he was spoked off when he discovered mercedes didnt have enough sponsors for their plan yet)
Nico Rosberg, 2016->17; Mercedes->N/A (retired)
