Y/n arrived at the cafe they both agreed on an hour early, and ordered stuff she thought Wonyoung would like to be served 5 minutes after the girl arrived. y/n was so out of the world knee deep in thoughts that she didn’t see a tall, pretty, and fair girl approach her with slight hesitation in her steps.

“y/n?..” younger basically whispered but it was enough to snap y/n out.

“Wonyoung!” the older basically yelled out of happiness startling the youngster. “Ahem sorry, Wony, here take a seat..” y/n said as she got up and moved the chair across for Wonyoung to sit in.

You know what, fuck it, cringe culture is dead. Here are some highlights of the Lion Guard/Wild Kratts crossover AU that I had drafted out in my head as a 9-10 year old watching both shows in 2016, but never got around to publishing. Also note that the continuity is absolutely shit because once again, this was conceptualized by an elementary student who hadn't discovered what fanfiction was.

Kion and Bunga being the lion and honey badger that show up in Honey Seekers during a very rocky patch in their relationship. Bunga and Sweet-Tweet would be in an on-off relationship (this was before S3 so Binga didn't exist, and also this was before the honey badger/honey guide symbiosis thing was proven to be bullshit because it is bullshit.)

Fuli being Spot-Swat's mother after a much-needed glowup. Suffers post-traumatic stress due to natural selection taking one of her cubs (a very unfortunate fact of cheetahs). Given how Blur is shown to attack Zach upon mistaking him for a vulture (hmmm), the ammo is right there.

Makuu being the mate of Crocodilla, and the biological father Frederica, Jawsana, Snappifer, Munchette, Crunchina, and Chompella. He happily accepts the soft-shell turtles as his daughters given his own upbringing where he was raised with turtles as his foster-brothers (that last bit was a headcanon I coined around a year or 2 ago, but inspired by the show).

Beshte being an expy for Tusker who is leading the pod (once again, waaay before S3 came in). He is not the friendly happy-go-lucky kid you see in the show. Has killed before. Will kill you. He figuratively and literally eats crocodiles for breakfast. Hippos are fucking assholes.

That being said, he could not be a more protective father towards Hipster O-Potamous.

I coined a headcanon of Ono being raised by a peregrine falcon since they live all over the world and thus would gain the knowledge that he does in the show. To add to that, I like to imagine Aviva creating a translation device to talk to an understand animals, and it becomes 2 hours of the brothers completely nerding out with Ono.

The WK villains often targeting the TLG characters. Donita capturing Dogo and his sibs to use as hats, Zach wanting Makuu and his float as Guard bots, Gourmand intending to cook Janja (karma?) and Paisley demolishing Ma Tembo's valley. Kion and the Lion Guard occasionally teaming up with the Kratts to beat the villains and both sides being utterly surprised by the others abilities.

Stomp the Secratarybird having this unexplained beef with Ushari, making it well known that he is his Nemesis.

Zooboomafoo making an appearance in the Pride Lands (cause why not) and he instantly becomes fresh meat for the monkeys of the Pride Lands and had to be guarded at all costs.

The Cheetah adopted episode but it's with Pumbaa and Fuli/Blur having a custody battle over Spot-Swat.

The vultures being captured by Gourmand in the S1 finale being Mzingo and his flock and although out they just have back and forth political banter with the other raptors.

Replace at least one of the servals with a caracal cat and have it be Hang Time.

ferraris DID work their asses off!!!! leclerc tbh also deserved driver of the day in my eyes both him and lando should have won it 🥰🥰 he did so well w his tyre management and he looked so happy post race which is such a stark contrast to how he usually looks ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹 but omg i had the biggest laugh of the week when max told leclerc that there was a 22 sec gap between him and lando 😭😭 the absolute despair on charles face was INSANEEE...sainz overtake game was ITTTTTT!!! and from p9 to p5 is pretty great! he grilled checo and ate his livery for dinner...love to see it!

checo is honestly not even worth it atp...somebody like alonso who genuinely knows how to race even in a shit car or someone completely new to the scene like lawson would do better than him atp...its just become embarassing to see him and mv1 have the same car yet have 5-9 places between them consistently. leclerc and sainz usually have 2-3 if not just 1 between them and they have such diff driving styles and their shit livery and yet they consistently outperform him in one way or another. even ls2 has done better lap times and crashed less in races than checo....a fucking rookie that was put in f1 too early outperforming u is humiliating. God forgive me for possibly jinxing them, but i think the incoming rookies (doohan, bearman, and antonelli if all goes well in monza next wk) will outdo him in under 10 races next season. its just unbearable to watch. great guy, mid driver at best!

3. I will say it once and I’ll say it again. When it comes to Max and he gives his opinions, it’s funny because it’s “Mad Max” but once it’s Lando it’s him being a baby. This isn’t hate to Max AT ALL (i really do love him) but the double standard is quite insane to me. It just seems to me that Red Bull fans aren’t ready to let go and see the aren’t the top car this season.

4. OSCAR DEFINITELY HAS WDC POTENTIAL. He’s already been doing fantastic in just his second season. If i ever see him lift the WDC trophy, just know I will be sobbing. With the other rookies, They will perform good. I already know it.

Welcome to my blog. No one is gonna read this, which is totally fine by me, but I felt I should make a welcome post.

I’m a female, late 30’s, who is looking to blog her thoughts, feelings, life. Recently had a thing happen in my life and I don’t feel like I have a proper way to work through it so here I am.

What recently happened you ask? Well my husband kinda sorta maybe cheated on me. You are asking how is there a kinda sorta…it’s like black and white right? Well, almost 2 wks ago he went to his cousin’s wedding without me. He claims he didn’t purposely make it where I can’t go, but now I’m not so sure. So he leaves super early for the wedding. Kinda felt off but ok he’s super close to his family. While he’s there this time our communication is at a minimum. I wasn’t texting or calling bc I didn’t know what he was doing for example at rehearsals, golfing, dinner etc.

He only called once when he first got in. Texts are a minimum, but he’s always on his snap. Probably snapping friends and his cousins who aren’t there but still can’t call me. So unlike him.

Lo and behold we have a blow up the night of the wedding after the wedding. He was hammered drunk and I finally let him have it. We sorta work through the issue and that’s when he asks how does it work with the other thing since I was mad at him? At first, I was confused and then I quickly realize what he’s asking. So I say “are you asking permission? Go for it.”

I mean I’m confused bc hello we have been fighting, but a part of me thought he was just trying to turn me on. I was wrong. That’s when he dropped he already made out and sucked on some chick’s tit at the wedding. Sooooo you already did it but wanted me to ok it for you. When I say I was shocked I mean flabbergasted, floored, confused. He then continued to tell me and go back and forth for hours about it. Apparently he had 2 chicks all over him, making out, sucking their tits, grabbing his cock, ripping his shirt.

I know I told him that he has a hall pass in the past & that night I begrudgingly told him do what he wants bc he clearly already did. He claims they only made out waist up but that isn’t entirely true if they’re grabbing his dick and it’s came out he made out a total of 3x. He also was alone with them 1.5 hrs after he told me they’re waiting for him and he thinks he’s gonna do it but unsure. He claims to me nothing happened and he shut it down from going further. I just don’t believe it. He is saying that the further he gets from that day it’s becoming unclear and fuzzy. What? Is that even possible?

My issue is simple. You already hooked up with someone without my consent. You did it sneakily behind my back. You bought condoms Thursday with the intention of using them and threw the box away on your way home bc of whatever reason you gave me. You spent the evening flirting so hard with this chick she followed you and cornered you to where you made out with her at the wedding and got so amped up you pulled her tits out and sucked them there. All the while I was upset you weren’t texting me and posting cute pics on snap in hopes you would tell me I was pretty. You then drop the bombshell on me after we get into it and then you decided you are gonna make out again with her and now another chick who you won’t even talk about. You also brag about how your cousins are trying to hook you up with chicks bc they want you to come back. The whole night just feels so weird to me.

It feels like I got played and cheated on. Just feels like you purposefully made it where I couldn’t come so you could play. You may have made an offhand comment about it but we never really discussed it besides me saying it would be hot for you to dance with someone and get hard.

Also you told me you weren’t into it and then this. When I said that you and said that I think you wanted to go up and do this the whole time you literally sent the 🤷‍♂️ emoji and said “I did”

Now if I say anything you use it against me and say you don’t think you want to do it again bc of all the issues it has caused. The issues are from how you did it. And now I feel like I can’t talk about it bc if I do you will shut it down. That’s not fair. That’s not ok.

Which butterfly would you assign to our dear friend Toodles?? I'm partial to the red-bodied swallowtail myself 👀 [free-n-wild!]

I looked up the butterfly you mentioned (I love swallowtails so much, omg), and I completely agree! This is an absolutely stunning creatures, and the butterfly matches him so well!

See below the cut for the butterfly and some fun facts! Be warned, animal collection, which includes animal death is mentioned, but this butterfly is a fighter!

The Red-Bodied Swallowtail (Ruby Swallowtail) or Pachliopta polydorus!

A few fascinating facts about this butterfly!

1)The fact that stuck out to me the most, and made me think of Toodles, is that these butterflies are not easily defeated when collectors attempt to kill and mount them. The practices that most collectors use to claim the lives of these beautiful creatures only serves to stun the Red-Bodied Swallowtail. Kind of like how Toodles cannot be “killed” by the show, he might have only been in one episode, but he keeps coming back time and time again in the fandom! He and this butterfly will not go down without a fight!

2)The Red-Bodied Swallowtail also has developed other protective measures to ensure survival. The buttery has adopted a slow, erratic flight pattern which makes predators take notice. Once the predators observe this unusual flight pattern they then see the unusual color and markings of this butterfly, particularly the bright red coloration, which provide the predators with sufficient information to tell them to stay away! This potential meal could make them sick or worse! Like Toodles, who looks so much like the charming green brother, this butterfly manages to trick and deceive others with it’s looks.

I had some lingering thoughts about a question I was asked the other day. I don't have any desire to indulge the humiliation fetishes of WK shippers any further, nor do I want to write their metas for them - I am being jocular here - and so this really has more to do with an overall trend of fandom analysis I have always taken umbrage with. I'm certainly not about to be expecting somebody to have read through my entire Reverse Ozlem tag but I think it's revealing that the broad reception of this theory (which has a silly name, in truth) is that it's just a pattern.

Most fandom analysis I've seen - from the lowliest depths of the R/WBY fandom, including what little Jungian analysis I've encountered - to the should-be-better-than-this heights of r/a.soiaf - has a perverse obsession with evidence read independently of thematic motivation, or, a story's meaning. And you might say this is silly, because evidence is the bedrock of argument, but the thing with textual analysis is that it services pluralities of meaning. It has lots of opportunities for meaning, that is, no matter how seriously (or not so seriously) you take authorial intention; a text is bigger than itself, it's an alchemical maelstrom. This can be both a good thing and a bad thing. For the way the way online fandom functions, I think it's not really a good thing, because most of the time people are arguing around in circles. It's not like casual discussion or analysis you might have with friends IRL, it's rarely if ever academic - I think it brings out the worst in people a lot of the time. So be it.

And here you've really got two independent strands of analysis, one which is of a more classical literature analysis and one which is trying to predict the way a story is going. Once you bring in the attempt to try to figure out where something is going you are now working with an absence of information. This isn't the same thing as traditional literary analysis. I'm not professing to be a literature student (I actually have an unfair perception of the field because of attempts to apply its models to antiquity) but I do think this is a totally different thing. I really think you can only make accurate guesses about the direction a story is going - if we're trying to be serious and not just engage in casual entertainment - in trying to figure out what the thematic heart of the story is. With something like R/WBY there's also the fact that it consciously engages with the monomyth (by way of Joseph Campbell) and Jungian psychoanalysis (which underscores the monomyth) and so you actually have some sort of narrative structure at hand - including for the character's narrative roles, which is actually pretty unusual. I'm excluding allusions here because I think allusions are often explanatory post hoc, and because I think they're beholden to other things in the story - which, as I've exhausted, I think people tend to get caught up with the evidence in the allusions and don't stop to think about how they might actually be meaningfully figured into the story.

The issue here of course - that both simplifies and complicates things - is that Ozlem is actually pretty straightforward monomythically and Jungian wise - they're the cosmic egg which has broken (this is why the moon breaks) and it needs healing and to be made one thing again; they're the cosmic wound of the world; they're the anima and animus of humanity which needs reintegrating, in the way that the Faunus are humanity's Shadow; Ruby's Heroine's Journey is actually how this is all going to get resolved. So if we're looking at it through the perspective of the monomyth/Jung, the question of what needs to happen is pretty straightforward. But as evidenced in the narrative, the question of how to stop Salem is an open question, because she can't be killed. Most people take this at first glance and think of ways to try to kill her, or imprison her, or abandon her (alá Ironwood), but I think it's meaningful that trying to help her or work with her will be a major twist in the story. Anyway, it's getting away from me:

To return back to the original point I was trying to make, it's less about whether relationships in the story fit discrete Ozlem evidence or patterning - though that in itself is suggestive - but what those relationships would mean for Ozlem (or how they can set it up, or you know, induce feeling?), and what... any of it actually offers the story. That's it. It's actually remarkably straightforward, and I think the thing that bamboozles me about fandom discourse is that they're so interested in overcomplicating it, when it's not about self-insert power fantasy projection (which is just anti-narrative, and not even worth thinking about; it's fundamentally nihilistic).

And like... most of what I put forth is on the contingency that a) the monomyth and Jung is relevant, b) Ozlem will get some sort of meaningful redemption, c) it is actually possible to intelligibly predict the story and it's not beholden to commercial influence or writerly discord, and the story is actually finished, and d) it has sensible thematic goals. The lattermost point is relevant because I think R/WBY is very straightforward about what it's trying to be, and it baffles me that people actively ignore the dialogue, the material narrative, etc. to come to opposite conclusions about what it's trying to be, and I think it makes really good sense as a story, but I think it makes really good sense as a story if they can deliver on the Ozlem redemption. Lol. This is what I mean about working with the absence of information in an unfinished story: it is actually remarkably fraught.

So no, I don't think you can just point at something like 'Reverse A/rkos' as being a thing because it's not just an arbitrary pattern. A/rkos doesn't figure into the story that way cosmically. If there's anything that is precipitated by a teased and aborted romance with a would-be Fall Maiden, it involves the actual Fall Maiden of the story.

Despite how much I've tried to make myself clear under my Reverse Ozlem tag, I see how it can get away from people given these trends, but also because of the name - it only refers to Jaune/Cinder, but I'm talking about Ozlem redemption as a whole in this theory. The issue as well is that from a narrative perspective - as a writer - I would be more interested in how Ozlem bolsters my main relationships in the narrative, not the other way around. But as viewers, Ozlem is the narrative key. So I think they have to be very particular in seeding Jaune/Cinder through Ozlem, and I don't think it could be an accident. The question is whether that amounts to a romantic, redemptive resolution.

(Reverse Ozlem is just a descriptive name - lovers to enemies -> enemies to lovers - and so, in the context of the anonymous user's ask, actually... isn't relevant outside of Jaune/Cinder. As I've expounded exhaustively, the entire point is that Jaune/Cinder would be proof you can work back from that enmity and resolve it).

So, on that note, I think anything involving Ozlem redemption basically has to involve Jaune/Cinder, or I think it's going to be really muddled and confused, circuitous and thoughtless. Which I personally do not feel comfortable discounting, because I like being thorough. As you can tell.

As much as I might be interested in analysis, and despite it seemingly being at odds with narrative emotional engagement, I am interested in storytelling. It is incredibly sad to me that this often gets put to the wayside in exchange for a miserly obsession with 'evidence' abstracted from the actual feeling and thematic motivations of a story. What does any of it actually offer the story? What is the actual interesting thing that could happen?

Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King - movie reaction

Don’t normally do these for movies but WHATEVER. I’m too happy to care right now! It took me like..three & a half hours to get through the entire movie because I kept replayed scenes over and over again. I was just so amazed at how beautiful it all was and I was beyond emotional to see & hear everyone.

Julius’ time magic is breaking apart? Dunno why exactly but it certainly can’t be a good thing.

So the sneak peak they showed on twitter yesterday was of a flashback of ten years ago. I figured it had to be something like that since Fuegoleon, Yami, and Julius looked so young, but then ya got Nozel who seems the same as ever! Still handsome though, of course.

And is that a younger Theresa with Fuegoleon too? Back when she was an active magic knight?

Aaahh, okay.. I really enjoyed that. I wish we got to see the Black Bulls be their chaotic selves a little more, but it definitely filled my heart with many happy feelings to see them and everyone else again. I say that as if it’s been so long when in reality I only caught up with the series last year. It’s crazy to think that I got interested in this series because of the first movie trailer and here I am, finally getting to watch it. But I really hope the anime returns someday too, especially with this kind of quality! It’s real ambitious to release episodes weekly instead of seasonally and I didn’t mind the animation style at all when I binged it, but if it returns with even a fraction of this quality, it’ll be amazing. I’ll love this series regardless, of course. It was a lovely experience and I can definitely see myself watching this several times over.

[S] WV?: Rise up is another big, splashy, game-changing animation. We get a megadose of worldbuilding when it comes to the Battlefield, which has been a fairly mysterious, neglected cosmological feature up until now. It evolves to become more complex with each player entry, and only begins resembling a planet on the third change. When it reaches planet form, that's when it finally serves as a viable stage for a major, global war between the two kingdoms. And remember that time is screwy for these game-construct settings. Once they come into being, it's as if they've always been. In other words, when the Battlefield turns into a planet, suddenly it's as if it has always been a planet and a war has been raging there for years.

0:26 - It's very fortunate for the peasants that their planet-sized chessboard is arable.

0:43 - In this big chess analogy, these guys are pawns, I guess. The analogy must be pretty loose though, because it doesn't seem like any of them are respecting the grid they're marching over at all.

0:49 - Yeah, I… I'm going to have to admit, this is where the chess analogy breaks down completely. This is just fucking Star Wars now.

0:52 - The big rook freak there is a brief glimpse of the cruelty and horrors of genetic engineering for the purposes of royal warfare.

0:59 - WV began life as a simple farmer. It's a small enough detail that I don't actually remember if he was a defector from the Derse army who started to farm, or if he began that way because for some reason the kingdom also supplies a stock of peasants to farm the land while a battle rages on. Either way, he's an extremely war-weary guy, and not happy at all that the nice, tall grass he was farming just burned down.

1:05 - The incineration of WV's can-themed farm is what triggers his hatred of kings and their warmongering tyranny. We knew he hated kings, and now we know why he hates kings. You can check this off your list now.

1:09 - Here's our first glimpse of a king. His scepter, rather than a magic ring, is what grants him the power of the prototypings. It also makes him huge, and thus a formidable opponent, and is why he's basically the final boss of any Sburb session, assuming the game goes how it's supposed to. Just like chess, obviously: you kill the king and you win.

1:12 - The scepter is a pretty special object. Aside from granting powers and size, it has Skaia itself sitting atop it. Not a mock Skaia, as an ornament, but the real Skaia, as a smaller instantiation of itself, currently contained within itself as a recursive construct. Flying into the Skaia on the scepter is exactly the same as flying into Skaia in the center of the Medium. You could then travel down to the Battlefield, find the king, and fly into Skaia all over again. But if you leave Skaia, you'd never fly out of the scepter. You'd always just fly out of Skaia. Got it? Imagine him using this as a weapon in the final battle. He swats one member of your party with it, and suddenly they find themselves all the way at the edge of Skaia, and they have to fly down to the Battlefield to rejoin the battle, wasting valuable time. It's a nasty end-boss move that can disrupt your tactics.

1:24 - Two things are brewing here. WV is organizing his mutiny by recruiting disaffected troops from both sides. Meanwhile, Jack is flying overhead, planning his massacre by sizing up all of WV's troops for a nice murder spree.

1:29 - Racism is over.

1:33 - This is all part of the White Queen's gambit. Hand off the ring and scepter to PM, so she can keep them safe, while WQ and WK get out of Dodge and meet on post-apocalyptic Earth to colonize it. She realizes this session is hopeless, and there's nothing much else to do but escape, start a new civilization, and blow up all the bridges between Earth and the session. It almost works!

1:38 - It's of some interest to note that PM is holding the scepter. Which means that wielding it, unlike wearing the ring, does not grant powers to just any carapacian. The scepter apparently only works its magic on kings. As Jack proves later though, you can still wield the scepter and utilize certain powers it has, like initiating the Reckoning.

1:42 - Sburb as an infinitely complex game of Silly Chess means it has a few loose parallels with the rules of chess. In chess, the king, while essential to keep alive, is a very weak piece. The scepter-bearing kings here obviously are very strong, so that's a departure. But one similarity is of a tactical nature. The kings here are still these slow, lumbering things of very limited tactical value. They stay on the Battlefield, don't cover a lot of ground, and are kind of sitting ducks when someone nasty like Jack flies along. Whereas queens have far greater tactical maneuverability. They generally stay on Derse, but can really go anywhere and can do a lot of damage, armed with their very powerful rings. But again, as in chess, they generally stay put for a while and are only deployed once strategy demands it.

1:52 - It's probably considered bad form by just about any other carapacian to think about destroying a king's scepter. That's not how a cleanly fought war is supposed to go. But Jack is designed to be a cheater.

1:55 - I wonder if WV is second-guessing why he was ever even mad at this guy. He looks like he could be a nice buddy, if they decided to bury the hatchet right here. Too bad it will be a moot point soon.

1:57 - Featured above: one of the worst fistbump malfunctions of all time.

1:58 - What would have happened if Jack hadn't intervened here? Would WV's insurrection have succeeded? There isn't much reason to believe WV's army would have defeated a giant prototyped king, so most likely Jack just saved WV's life. Sburb includes a lot of possibilities for making things interesting outside of its usual programmed path, which probably includes potential for little pawn guy mutinies like this now and then. But it wouldn't be much of a game if a bunch of pawns could take down the final boss before you ever meet him. The possibility of a Jack mutiny being successful, in which case he simply replaces the final boss, is a much more interesting way for the game to mix things up.

2:06 - I really have no idea how Jack crammed that crown on his head, over his jester prongs. Are those like…floppy? Did he bunch all the prongs together first, and feed them into the hat, before yanking it down for them to rip through the fabric? He also only has one arm to accomplish all this. It seems awkward. Whatever he did, WV sure wasn't thrilled about the spectacle.

2:10 - Then this scepter just stays here until [S] Descend. I can't for the life of me remember how it actually gets from this location to being in Jack's possession. Hang on while I flip ahead to the end of the book. Oh okay, it's CD. He picks it up and gives it to Jack. Of course he does. What a little scamp.

It's been a few weeks since the episode aired, so I'm gonna talk about the winter king cause I've noticed other people didn't come to the same conclusion (and I could be wrong I'm not saying what I am saying is canon lol), but I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone say this yet.

I'm pretty sure WK!Simon, while yeah he had a similar backstory with Marceline (adopting and taking care of her, obviously she still became a vampire hunter cause how was the world not overrun with vampires AND the candy kingdom used to exist normally pre-Candy Queen curse), and I'm sure there were still a lot of different factors in between when he was also the Ice King.

Did not have the same relationship with Betty that main Simon did. I think that maybe he just never went after her at the bus stop? Like, he could've just taken her advice into consideration still at that fateful lecture and gone on the expedition solo, or he still did the expedition with her, and once again, didn't meet her at the bus stop.

I don't think he probably even HAD a relationship with Betty, and thus, says "that's not how I remember it" when Simon declares she was the great love of their life.

He probably still bought the crown the same way he did in og!Ooo, still probably tried it on as a funny to himself since he never had a fiancé in the picture if him and Betty never confessed their feelings for each other.

But, Betty's love was a very key driving point towards him and Marceline and all the dominos of his life when the mushroom war happened. I'd say he had an obsession with princesses when he fell to the madness of the crown, cause like I've seen a lot of people point out over the years, Betty was his PRINCESS and his warped mind still wanted that same love he had when he was normal. (he probably still suffered the same kind of lonely feeling og!Ice King felt, though. maybe from marcy dying at some point post her creating the bass axe from her dad's axe to the creation of ice marcy, or maybe this version of marceline ditched his ass for whatever reason)

So, maybe his driving force with no Betty, was just to be normal again, even in his crazy state of mind. Which led eventually somehow to him transferring the madness curse into Bubblegum.

Personal Study Update

みなさん、久しぶりですね。元気でしたか？

朗報がありますよ。先に勉強やめましたけど、もう一度始めることにしました。

Basically, I stopped studying Japanese for 1.5 years. I started this blog on the same day I began studying Japanese, a little over 2.5 years ago. That means I’d actually halted my studies for longer than I’d been studying in the first place.

So, it’s safe to say my journey isn’t the most linear. I’ve noticed some weird improvements, like I don’t translate to english as much, reading clicks more (I’m reading coherent sentences, not just a bunch of words next to each other! who woulda thought?) and I realized I remembered more than I thought I would.

But still, there are obvious gaps in my memory and various weaknesses I had prior to pausing only really got worse. A lot of the vocab I once knew have been erased from my memory, with a faint ghost of it still there, for me to confuse with other words I almost remember.

However, I won’t let these setbacks bring me down. The advantage I have is that I’m studying Japanese for fun, and no amount of mistakes I make will ever take that joy away from me.

A few weeks ago I started casually studying again. Using Bunpro, I’ve reviewed all N5 grammar. Once I finished that, I realized that there’s still a lot of work to do, and it’s sitting in my face, waiting to get conquered so I can finally reach an intermediate level Japanese.

I’ve spent the last couple of days curating a new study routine for me to follow every day so that I not only catch up with N5 vocabulary quickly but also speed through N4.

I’m heavily relying on Bunpro for both grammar and vocabulary. Now that I have N5 grammar in the bag, I just need to complete N5 Vocabulary, N4 Grammar, and N4 vocabulary to reach this subgoal.

My daily routine:

1. Finish all WK reviews / Learn more

2. Finish all Bunpro reviews

3. Minimum 3 new (N4) grammar points on Bunpro. I’m using it to follow along with my Genki II textbook, despite the N4 grammar option, because I also have the Tobira textbook and would like my knowledge to follow the path of what I’d previously paid for lol.

For each grammar point (provided I don’t already know it) I write down the rules in my notebook, read the bunpro explanation AND my textbook explanation, and finish it off by listening and reading around 10 example sentences 3 times each. First time slow, second time normal speed, third time normal speed with english translation.

4. Learn 10 new N4 vocabulary words on Bunpro. I just need to learn them by the end of the day, so I may break this up to prevent brain fatigue.

5. Review 25 N5 words on Bunpro. I used to know them so I’m being kind of hard about it, as it’s easier to pick them back up.

6. I’ve forgotten a lot of basic N5 stuff, so I try to go over something I should know that Bunpro won’t hand to me in a deck format. For example, days of the month.

7. 1-5 are the bare minimum, but I also like to get in some reading, practicing writing, or watching a show in Japanese. Some supplementary/enrichment study.

I track myself with an app called Habit Tracker, since it’s a daily task list. It’s crucial to continue it daily! Why? Because I’m trying to significantly improve my Japanese and I gave myself a deadline: March 1st. By then, I should be confident in all areas of N5, know all of Genki II Grammar, and should know 360 more words from N4. That’s a lot to do in less than 5 weeks.

I’ll keep you guys updated! Can’t wait to post some more grammar/vocab stuff on here again!

PC – BCCI Shafali Verma, the 20-year-old batter, has been left out of the India squad for the three-match ODI series against Australia, starting on December 5 in Brisbane. Shreyanka Patil, Dylan Hemalatha, Uma Chetry, Asha Sobhana, Pooja Vastrakar and Sayali Satgare aren’t part of the squad either. Incidentally, Shreyanka, India’s star spinner, has been struggling with a shin injury, and she didn’t play in any of the games in the three-match ODI rubber versus New Zealand. Sobhana and Pooja too have had injury setbacks and weren’t part of the New Zealand series.  Shafali could aggregate just 97 runs in the just-concluded T20 World Cup in the UAE. In the last two years, she has also been averaging a mere 14 in the ODI format. Meanwhile, the inexperienced pair of Tejal Hasabnis and Saima Thakor have been included. Thakor made her ODI debut against New Zealand last month, taking four wickets. The medium pacer also made a  useful contribution with the bat in the second game. On the other hand, Hasabnis accumulated 57 runs during that series.  Harleen Deol, the spinning all-rounder, returns to the set-up. Harleen, who has played 34 times for the country, was laid low by a knee injury while representing Gujarat Giants in the Women’s Premier League. Titas Sadhu, the medium pacer, who has partaken in nine T20Is, also finds a place.
