one thing about alt stuff is that the barrier to entry to being "goth" is truely so fucking low and yet people constantly limbo under the bar instead of stepping over it and wonder why they get called posers. like we're not asking you to move mountains here we're just asking you to find even one band under the umbrella that you like and to engage with the community a little bit. The fashion has truely so much overlap between goth punk and emo so very few people will care which one you call yourself based on your look and you just have to find a band you like. Dashboard Confessional screams a bit too much for your taste and Dead Kennedys is too loud? Guess what you're in luck the goths listen to something a little softer and weirder they call it dark wave or ethereal wave depending on the phases of the moon. Try out Clan of Xymox or Switchblade Symphony. Like truly the alt music scene is so fucking diverse there's gotta be something in here that you like. If not and you truly are a pop girlie then don't call yourself punk it's very easy.

anyway Akira 1988 was fucking crazy. what do I do w my life now. weirdest part of it was i couldn't predict half the stuff that was about to happen- the blue kids, the baby toys, the lasers, the wires & goop, literally everything that happened to Kaori ?? kind of movie that makes you reach out for the characters as if that would save them and makes every death feel so shocking and unfair and undeserved y'know . maybe its just bc nearly all of the cast are kids or bc everyone seems so ordinary, or the time spent on the bg characters just really efficiently shows they're people too? i’ve been trying to think of ways to keep up my spanish since i moved and don’t know as many people to speak it with here; i saw you’re reading out loud in french every day how’s that going? would you recommend it to maintain fluency? :)

it's going well! it's great for maintaining vocab for sure, especially if you read recent stuff (as opposed to novels from the 1800s lol). and it's been helping a ton with my pronunciation; actually speaking the words helps with your own articulation as well as your oral comprehension to a lesser extent. i think it's a pretty good option in the absence of conversational partners, and it's really not necessary to spend a ton of time on it per day, especially if you're already fluent. you could read a chapter a day (or 10 pages, or 5 pages, or whatever) just to keep your hand in. worth a try if you have some spanish-language books available!

oooo i am glad you asked abt woodz!! i did listen to his music the other day and i even posted about him and i did say that i don't listen to his music that often even tho he does really good music especially rock and since it's a genre so beloved to me i find it weird how i don't listen to him more often! my fav song of his atm might be waiting... which was a song i listened to it months ago and i got obsessed rather late but it was on repeat for so long and truly idk what it is to me that it makes so addicting it might be the vocal arrangement and harmonies that he does with the adlibs that makes it so cool to me because it's right at the beginning of the song and i was like.... wait a minute... it really makes you wanna stay and listen to the rest and also that bridge is crazy to me and how it builds up to the chorus it really tickles to right part of my brain in general the vibe is very good and i would honestly recommend it to anyone that is trying to get into his music and it's especially because it's a title track i feel like it's even better! as for favorite album... i haven't listened to every album of his (that's something i'm working on) but it's definitely oo-li i heard it for the first time days ago and i was very sucked in from start to finish and i thought it was a pretty consistent album in terms of sound! i especially liked who knows and ready to fight and they are both like a rock that is on the heavier side and so i loved it! i feel like both of these songs were pretty good in your face type of rock that i don't see many kpop artists too and that i love and so those are my faves but i love drowning a lot because it's a more emotional track but i feel like he did expressed the overall emotion of the song in his vocals and i think you can really get what the song is supposed to me from that alone which i really like! in the end there are different songs but i feel like the sound was very consistent throughout the whole album which made the experience enjoyable to me as a first time listener

It feels pretty good as a stand-alone to me? Like vibes wise and it’s at a good enough point where you can understand it without the plot. Album also has a cover of it on its own (with the last lyric changed to you instead of jake) so i think it works tbh.

Besides that I’d argue I Love Play Rehearsal and Michael in the Bathroom could be played anywhere also
