Upon hearing rumours that Grace Chastity wasn't the main character of Nerdy Prudes anymore, I bet it's Stephanie Lauter (26/1/22. I was right)

It will be a female-led cast like Firebringer. (20/9/22. It may not be as female-led as Firebringer but has a 50/50 ratio so I think I get this one)

Hot Chocolate Boy/Pete Spankoffski will return (recast, possibly played by a new starkid) and have a romance with Stephanie. (20/9/22. I was wrong about a new starkid playing him but other than that!)

Hannah will be a character - a freshman in Hatchetfield High, played by Lauren Lopez. (20/9/22. Unconfirmed but was probably wishful thinking on my part from the beginning)

Dylan Saunders probably won't be in the show but his character will be referenced as the woodworking teacher whose wife died. (20/9/22.)

Grace Chastity and Stephanie Lauter will be vaguely homoerotic and people will ship them but it won't be canon. (Grace is either vaguely homophobic or possibly queer given Bill's comments in TGWDLM... I am undecided). (21/9/22. Unconfirmed)

Duke and Miss Holloway will likely be relevant characters given how developed they are in NMT - if they don't have a major role in this musical, they certainly have a different hatchetverse musical which focuses on them. (26/9/22.)

Ruth Fleming won't be as major of a character as her announcement as Lauren's role implied, Lauren's main role will be something else, like how Jeff was announced as 'man in a hurry' in BF. (maybe the role is Hannah 👀👀 I'm delusional). (2/10/22.)

Okay so since all the episodes of Nightmare Time season 2 apparently take place in the same universe, here are some things I think we should remember that have all happened/are all happening at the same time going into the finale:

Zoey Chambers (the barista) is dead, and Linda Monroe is too (as is her husband, Gerald)

Emma Perkins and Ziggs are both in jail for killing Nighthawks, and the entire farmland burned to the ground

Also those Hatchet dudes from the woods whose names I can’t remember are dead (killed by the birds)

Grace Chastity is now the head of Abstinence Camp?? and looking very murdery

The Lumberaxe is still out there somewhere in the woods

Miss Holloway is legally dead, and but she’s still around as a guidance counselor and now goes by Miss Holliday

Duke also does not recognize her, not really (and that’s all I’m gonna say about that because if I get more detailed I’ll start fucking sobbing again)

Sherman Young is now a seven-year old kid (physically) and is like?? a cultist?? now??  

Also Frank Pricely is now Sherman’s “Daddy” ugh

Speaking of which, Ted Spankoffski is also dead, and Peter - his brother - does not know that yet (that we know of)

Speaking of Peter, he and Stephanie Lauter have a little thing going on (not that that’s like super relevant, just something I think we should remember)

Lex, Ethan, and Hannah will all be in the episode (and it’s seeming like it’s centered around Hannah)

There are other kids with superpowers, and Bryce is playing one of them, named Spitfire, who I’m pretty sure can either summon blasts of fire or blow things up (context from the name and the reel she posted)

These superpowered kids are all competing against one another in this weird competition for money

Hannah is competing because she had an “accident” in shop class (maybe taught by Tom Houston?) and Lex can’t pay the enormous medical bill for whatever it is that happens to Hannah

Curt is playing a new character named Eddie Chiplucky

James is playing another new character name Charles

The entire cast will be featured in this episode

Nick has insinuated that the villain of the episode is similar to Lumberaxe in that they’re “hoping they can pull it off” like they did with him

Why did you choose your URL: welllllll gather round, children. I've decided to tell the needlessly long version of this story. I'm warning you, this is way too detailed. PLEASE JUST SKIP TO THE NEXT QUESTION; THIS IS LONG AND BORING.

Okay, so one day a few years ago (it was the year I was taking chemistry, so probably like three years back?), my older sisters stumbled upon a long-cancelled children's cartoon on the TV set called Archie's Weird Mysteries. My sister Talia decided to become an Archie fan, so we all started watching this show ever night at 10pm, when it came on (we don't have no Netflix, no Hulu, no illegal online streaming! we watch things WHEN THEY COME ON).

Meanwhile, my sister Mariah had a story idea that she called her Adventure Psychologist story (at first I wanted to be mean and also include all the backstory of how she came up with her Adventure Psychologist story, since I'm going overboard with the explanations anyhow, but I won't). It was about a psychologist from outer space who did magic psychology on aliens and people. She was obsessed with this story idea. She would never shut up about it. This is important background information.

Now we'll get to the relevant part: The TV station that played Archie's Weird Mysteries had only a couple of actual commercials at a time. The rest of the commercial breaks were filled with promos. One of the shows they advertised was called Dex Hamilton Alien Entomologist. The promo itself was pretty bad (it did not convey any information about the show that is not communicated in the title, although I suppose it did at least define an entomologist as someone who studies bugs), but Mariah saw it and went, "Oh my gosh! An alien entomologist! That is basically the exact same thing as an alien psychologist! I have to watch this show," to which I replied, "wow, Mariah, that's dumb; we watch enough children's cartoons already."

But Mariah wanted to watch it anyway. The first time she tried, she failed because she did not understand time zones. I thought it would be dumb for us to start watching the show, but by the second time she tried to watch it (they only played one thirty-minute episode a week), I had warmed up to it slightly. So the big day when Mariah would watch this show finally rolled around. Talia was going to watch with her, too. I was waaaaay to mature to watch another kid’s show, so I opted to spend the time they were watching TV to go rake the lawn, so I’d be done raking and could afford to spend the rest of Saturday watching Monk reruns (ion television played Monk on Saturdays back then, and as mentioned, we watch TV shows when the TV station people tell us to watch TV shows). So I raked the leaves while they watched their show. Then I came in and asked how they liked it (since I had warmed up to the idea, I had decided that if they liked it, I would try it next week now that the waters had been tested and everything). They liked it. So the next week, I watched whatever episode the TV gods deigned to air that day.

And from that point on until today and probably tomorrow and the day after that, I was/am/will be utterly consumed by that TV show.

One of the main characters from the show is called Zap Monogan. He was created with human and insect DNA mixed together, and in one episode they referenced him making cocoons or chrysalises in his sleep or something. I was thinking about that and got really confused because I realized that I really knew jack squat about chrysalises. I knew cocoons were silk, but I realized I had absolutely positively no idea what they were made of. So I asked Talia and she didn’t know either.

So I went to Wikipedia to research chrysalises. I found out that chrysalises are made out of the outer skin of the creature inside. This confused me as to how Zap could possibly use a chrysalis, since he’s basically a human with mammal skin and stuff. Then eventually I found out that Zap makes cocoons, not chrysalises. So I researched cocoons and I found out that the chemical that silkworms melt the silk with when they escape from a cocoon is called cocoonase. Obviously, the next question was to find out as much about cocoonase and the glands that produce silk as possible. So I madly searched on Wikipedia, but it turns out that most people don’t care about conoonase or really entomology in general, so there isn’t exactly as much information on cocoon formation as there is about, say, human physiology. Priorities.

I never actually found that much information about cocoons (I sort of gave up. Sorry.) but I eventually found out about a guy named Pierre André Latreille. This dude was a famous French entomologist during the 18th and 19th century, in fact, he was nicknamed The Prince of Entomologists, so it’s no surprise I eventually stumbled upon him.

He was born in France in 1762, and not into the best family situation. There are no surviving records of his mother’s identity, and his father wanted nothing to do with him, although he did send his kid money. As a young man, Latreille became a priest. Latreille never actually carried out any of his priestly duties. He was too busy chasing bugs.

In 1790, the revolutionaries had decided that all priests were required to take an oath promising to adhere to the Civil Constitution of the Clergy. Latreille ended up missing the deadline to accept the oath and was thrown in prison.

Then one day, the prison physician found Latreille literally crawling around on the prison floor chasing a beetle like an insane person. Latreille eagerly told the doctor what he was so excited about. The doctor, to his credit, actually was impressed. You see, we aren’t talking about some run of the mill Coccinella septempunctata here. This was a Necrobia ruficollis—a very rare beetle. Once Latreille explained this, the doctor took the specimen and brought it to a local naturalist, Bory de Saint Vincent, who was a fan of Latreille’s and managed to pull a few strings and get Latreille released from prison. This is especially bizarre when we note that Saint Vincent was only fifteen when all this was happening, and yet somehow a fifteen-year-old could decide who lived and who died. Apparently, the Get Out of Jail Free card came with a plus one, because Damkaer reveals that one of Latreille’s cellmates was freed as well. All the others were killed.

Wow, I thought. That’s ridiculously cool! So I started researching entomologists a lot. I made a weird color-coded chart detailing which French entomologists of the 1800s were friends with each other. It was dorky. Very, very dorky.

Then I started a tumblr, and I was like, and entomologist is a person who studies insects, and I’m a person who studies people who study insects, so I’m an entomologistologist.

See, I warned you that would be long.

  For this I’m gonna go with  Red Queen  by Victoria Aveyard. I was okay with the first book. I enjoyed it. But then Glass Sword happened. And we all know how that went (if you don’t, then you can check out my rant about it).

2. Annoying Great Aunt Sally who will not leave you alone : Name a book that you didn’t enjoy, but everyone else seems to love so it never goes away

Caraval by Stephanie Garber. I hate it. I hate it so much (I have a rant about that as well) and so many people love it. I know there are people who hate it too, but it was even nominated for the Goodreads Choice Awards… what? What? I just can’t. I’m sorry, but how even? That book is a waste of paper. Trees were killed for nothing printing that.

3. Your pets keep knocking over the Christmas decoration : Name a character that kept messing things up for everyone else (can’t pick a villain!)

The guy from The Wrath and the Dawn. What’s his name? I can’t remember. The childhood friend. He was just in the way. He didn’t really do much in the book and when he did, he messed things up. Just stop it guy. Tariq? I think that was his name.

4. You hear your parents putting out the presents and learn Santa isn’t real: Name a book you were spoiled for

Hmm… I don’t know. I don’t think I’ve really been spoiled for any books. At least not in any major way. Maybe Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince cause I knew about Dumbledore. But I can’t really think of anything else. I’ve been pretty good at avoiding spoilers.

5. It’s freezing outside: Name a main character you just couldn’t connect with

Any of the characters in the Inheritance series. I just could not get them at all. Also the girls from The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani. I enjoyed the story. And I even liked the characters, I just didn’t feel very connected to them. Same goes for the eponymous Sabriel by Garth Nix. I enjoyed the book and the characters were good, but they just didn’t click with me.

6. Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’ and it’s giving you anti-romantic feelings : Name a couple you couldn’t stand

Scarlett and… whatever his name from Caraval by Stephanie Garber. I hated everything about that book, not least of all the romance.

All the relationships in Stealing Snow by Danielle Paige. Another waste of paper and one of the worst cases of insta-love and love polygons in the history of YA.

Chaol and Celaena from Throne of Glass. I just do not like that couple. I just don’t.

7. That scratchy homemade wool sweater you got for Christmas years ago but won’t get rid of : show some books that have been sitting on your shelves for a while, and you aren’t motivated to read, but you don’t have the heart to get rid of

Oooh boy. I have so many. But I’m a book hoarder. To be fair, a lot of these I didn’t buy and they aren’t strictly speaking mine, so probably once I settle down somewhere for more than one year at a time and decide to move all my books from my parent’s house, I’ll leave some of those behind. But anyway, here are some books that I own and just don’t have any interest in reading (and I will focus on books that I own personally, whether I bought them for myself or received them, but I won’t mention the books that are technically my family’s books, but because I’m the only person in my family who consistently reads, they’re mine).

Inheritance by Christpher Paolini. I’m actually considering donating this, because it’s just taking up space and I’m never going to read it. Ever.

Clancy of the Undertow by Christopher Curie. Again, 0 interest in this book. I won it in a giveaway that I don’t even know why I entered. Probably will end up giving that one away as well.

The Odyssey by Homer. I’ve had this for a couple of years and I just never feel like picking it up. I do want to read it eventually, so I’m going to keep it. But I just have no motivation to read it at the moment.

The Divine Comedy by Dante Aligheri. I’ve read about half of Inferno and I just… can’t. It’s in verse and I can’t focus on it. I want to read them though. Just not now.

Dodger by Terry Pratchett. I’ve read about maybe a third of this book and it was just not what I was expecting it to be so I stopped. I want to read it eventually, cause it was good, but I really don’t feel motivated to at the moment.

I’m going to stop at 5, but there are plenty more.

8. Grandma Got Runover by a Reindeer: Name a character death you still are mad about (warn people for spoilers! You can also use TV or movie deaths)

Kelsier. Why? Just why? I’m not over it, I get why he needed to die. But no. I’m so mad.

SIX OF CROWS

Matthias. That was so unnecessary and I am mad. I’m so mad. I can’t cope with it, I yelled at the book and i cried and I just don’t understand why.

HARRY POTTER

Hedwig and Dobby. It’s just not okay. Neither of them deserved to die and just why? A lot of people died in HP and most of them are tragic and heartbreaking but I can’t get over those two. They didn’t need to die.

HUNGER GAMES

My baby Finnick I am so mad. I can’t articulate how mad I am about that. I refuse. In my mind, he’s alive and happy with Annie they have tiny little children and a little fishing cabin.

Cinna. The best side character in YA literature. I can’t handle it. I am wounded.

LORD OF SHADOWS

I’m still mad about Livvy. I could not believe what I was reading. What is Ty going to do without her, I can’t even. My brain reuses to accept it. I feel like the next book will begin with Julian waking up from a nightmare and none of it is true.

Also, I can’t remember what book this was in, but I recently read it and it was this random rider on a horse and the rider did something stupid and the horse was like torn in half and it was so graphic. I suffered. I can’t for the life of me remember what book it was. But I know the MC was watching this scene unravel and I was so mad. Maybe it was Uprooted by Naomi Novik? I don’t know.

9. The malls are overly crowded with holiday shoppers: Name a series that has too many books in it/went on too long

Elemental Assassin series by Jennifer Estep. That series just goes on and on. I don’t even know how many books there are to date, but way too many. At least 15 and with no intention of stopping anytime soon. That series is not that good. It doesn’t need that many books.

Also, I’m sorry but I’m starting to think Throne of Glass should come to an end. I feel like one more book and then that’s it. I kind of think that Tower of Dawn was a bit unnecessary. I mean, I haven’t read it yet, so I can’t say for sure. But I think I would have been happier to just get a conclusion instead of that one. Because Empire of Storms declined in quality compared to the others and I want it to end while it’s still good.

10. The Grinch : Name a main character you HATE (No villians again!)

Mare Barrow from Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard. I hate her so much, I want her to die and rid the world of her insufferable self-righteousness and self-importance.

Scarlett from Caraval by Stephanie Garber. She’s stupid and hypocritical and I’m just so done with her.

Snow from Stealing Snow by Danielle Paige. Ugh, another stupid, whiny and self-righteous one. I hate her.

These are the ones I really hate. I actually don’t often hate characters. Like, they may annoy me, but then I usually don’t care enough to really hate them. I’m just annoyed, but to mention a few: Lissa and Rose from Vampire Academy, Chaol from ToG, the girl (forgot her name) from The Sin Eater’s Daughter.

I never thought that I would have seen the day to interview one of the most beautiful and talented women that had mega hits from the 80’s up to the early 2000’s. This remarkable young woman is the first female artist to have her first three solo releases to hit #1 on the Billboard. Karyn White made a  huge splash on the music scene with her female anthem “Superwoman” in which was produced and written by Babyface and LA Reid. Karyn White was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Growing up in LA was amazing for her. “Here in LA you get to see so much, and you can dream your dreams and have them come true“. At an young age Karyn (she is the baby of the family) would often imitate her older sisters, one was a dancer and the other one was a singer with a voice that reminded her of Natalie Cole. With such influences in her family Karyn combine her family’s multi-talents into one big mega star package. At the age of 16 she auditioned for a group called Legacy. During that time Karyn participated in beauty pageants, talent shows, and continue her road to auditions.

Rena Marie: Karyn what kind of impact has music made in your life?

Karyn White: Wow! Music is my life. It gave me purpose, music is healing and therapeutic. Music allows me to dream and make them come true. Music took me out of the hood, and gave me opportunities to travel around the world to experience different things.  

Rena Marie: Who are some of your musical influences?

Karen White: Back in my day I often listen to and watched Stephanie Mills, Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross, Chaka Khan, Prince, James Brown, Donna Summers, and Al Green.

Rena Marie: I can truly say that you are an artist who actually embodied the sounds and dance of those who influenced you. I can hear Stephanie Mills, Chaka Khan, Diana Ross in your voice and I can see the sassy choreography of Donna Summers.

Karyn White: Thank you oh wow! I learned the songs and choreography from the Wiz (both Diana Ross and Stephanie Mills versions) and performed them at talent shows.

Rena Marie: Who discovered you?

Karyn White: Initially I would have to say Don Cornelius from Soul Train.

Rena Marie: Was there a special event that took place for Don Cornelius to notice your talent?

Karyn White: At the time I was 17 years old, just graduated from high school when I auditioned for Don Cornelius and his artist O’Bryan. I performed a song and a routine from a soundtrack and they loved it. I was on tour with O’Bryan who was an opening act for the group Cameo. This was my first professional paid show.

Rena Marie: Have you ever done or considered doing Broadway Shows?

Karyn White: That is actually on my bucket list of things to do. However in high school I have been in plays. One play I will never forget is me playing the role of Dorothy from the Wiz. I was the first person to make it professionally out of the group in high school. I went to school with Bentley Kyle Evans the creator of the Martin Show and The Jamie Foxx show, and the beautiful and talented actress Wendy Raquel Robinson. Wendy and I took dance classes together, she is an amazing dancer. So shout out to Wendy and Bentley!

Rena Marie: You have memorable albums that people still listen to today. Which album is your favorite?

Karyn White: It will have to be my first album self-titled Karyn White. With all of the talented and beautiful hard working artists in Los Angeles, this album broke the barrier and became a huge success. I worked extremely hard and it paid off. So yes my first album is my favorite.

Rena Marie: I remember some of your number 1 hits from backyard parties at family functions, but of course I had to do a little research to see if you had any other songs that I may not recall hearing. For the first time I heard a Duet you had with Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. How was it recording with Babyface?

Karyn White: Yes! “Love Saw It” is the name of the song that I did with Babyface. This is actually my favorite song because I was singing in my lower register. It was awesome working with Babyface. He has incredible talent.

Rena Marie: Have you worked with Babyface on any other song or album?

Karyn White: Yes! Babyface and LA Reid produced and wrote 6 songs on my first album self titled Karyn White. They wrote “Super Woman”, “Romantic”, “Secret Rendezvous”, and so forth. They also produced songs for Johnny Gill and Bobby Brown in which I sung background for them and other artists.

Rena Marie: Did you actually started off as a background singer?

Karyn White: I started out as a background singer. I sung background for Bobby Brown on “Tender Roni”, “Every Little Step”, and I sung on Johnny Gill’s “My My My”….I sung background for a lot of artists back then.

Rena Marie: I am glad that you came out from the shadows because your voice is so amazing.

Karyn White: Thank you! You know what they say the cream rises to the top!

Rena Marie: I know that a lot of artists change their music as the next generation of musical talents evolve the creativity of sounds. How do you feel about music today, and will you change your music to follow the music trend of today?

Karyn White: I listen to artists of today such as Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z, Beyonce who is an amazing talent, Childish Gambino, Janelle Monae, Jhene Aiko, and J. Cole. As far as keeping up with the trends I want my music to stay true to me. I am bringing back the funk. The 60’s and 70’s to me had the best music, and that is evident today because artists of today are sampling music from those eras. Kendrick Lamar sampled the Isley Brothers and he brought back the funk. I feel the younger generation will appreciate funk music.

I am currently working on my new movie and soundtrack “Gale & The Storm”. After listening to Childish Gambino who is of this generation of young artist bringing back the funk in his music. Childish Gambino inspired me to keep true to myself and to bring back the funk. “Gale & The Storm” is loosely about me. Gale the main character was a funk singer who took a step back from music at the pinnacle of her career. I will always stay true to me and I don’t want to be fake about my music. People will listen to it and for those that don’t listen to it they just don’t. I know that this generation will enjoy the music based off of the funk music that Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, and Janelle Monae are bringing back.

  Rena Marie: I must say that you are beautiful and have not aged a bit. What are Karyn’s secret to your youthful appearance?

Karyn White: I always tell young people to take care of themselves and be mindful of what you put into your body. The food industry has changed and now we are subjected to genetically modified foods. I always say stop eating fake food. Take care of your body with proper diet and exercise.

Rena Marie: I am sure you heard about artists that had mental break down due to lack of rest or just events that took place that was a bit more that they could juggle at the time. You were at the height of your career at the time you went on hiatus, what was going on at the time?

Karyn White: At the time I was married to Terry Lewis of the Mega producing duo Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam (responsible for a lot of artists music hits such as Michael and Janet Jackson, New Edition, Johnny Gill, Raja Nee, Usher, Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men, Klymaxx, Chaka Khan, Alexander Oneal, Cherrelle, Vanessa Williams, Ralph Tresvant, just to name a few). During that time Terry and I we were the first Jay-Z and Beyonce because  we were a superstar couple. People looked up to us and Terry was a great guy, a great husband. We had our daughter Ashley and my mom passed away. So with all this going on I was not being appreciative of my blessings. I never turned to drugs or alcohol, but I hurt myself by not appreciating everything that was coming my way. I had a good man, a beautiful career especially with my first album, a beautiful baby girl, and before Terry and I broke up we had just built a 30k sq foot mansion. I got into interior decorating and realty, I would buy homes decorate them and sell them. Every two years I would buy a home, fix it up, and flip them. I was flipping homes up to when the market crashed in the year 2000.  I went on to dating a younger man who had the dreams of becoming the next Kanye West or Jay-Z. This relationship was not a good one due to the fact that this man came from the “microwave” generation. He thought that he could do the minimum work to get the great payday. I would say the good thing about him was that he helped me find my swag, but he was very narcissistic. Thank God I never spiraled out of control, instead I channeled that energy into realty, interior design, and creating a path for my comeback.

Rena Marie: Now that you are coming out with a new movie and soundtrack dedicated to funk music, Will you be coming out with a new album? Who are you looking forward to working with?

Karyn White: I am definitely planning on working on a new album. I have spoken with Ralph Tresvant from the group New Edition and we will be working on something together. I have not reached out to other people yet, but I will have a star studded album in the works.

 Rena Marie: Speaking of Ralph Tresvant who is my heart throb from back in the day, recently New Edition had a 3 day mini movie series about their road to stardom. What do you think about their biopic movie?

Karyn White: I must say they did a real good job. Especially the young man that played as Ralph, he did such an incredible job, all of the cast did a marvelous job. When I spoke to Ralph he stated that the actor that played him was “Playing as me a little too hard…lol”. They were very pleased with the outcome of the movie.

Rena Marie: Do you see a Karyn White Biopic coming?

Karyn White: That would be awesome if someone actually come up with a Biopic about me, but for now I want to put out more work and make my comeback part of my musical milestone before considering a biopic.
