A Soft Place
In a post-Rumbling world, where the threat of Titans no longer looms, Vanessa Sinclair finds herself living a quiet life, working at her family’s bakery in Wall Rose. Curvy and self-conscious, Vanessa has always faded into the background, overshadowed by her more outgoing friends. But everything changes when Captain Levi Ackerman, Humanity's Strongest Soldier, begins visiting the bakery regularly. What starts as a simple exchange of tea and pastries quickly evolves into something more. Levi, drawn to her quiet strength and beauty, takes Vanessa on a journey that forces her to confront her insecurities, while learning that sometimes, what lies beneath the surface is more than enough. (Levi x Plus Sized OC)
Chapter Thirty One
The soft chime of the doorbell echoed as Vanessa stepped into Miss Draya’s boutique, her heart pounding with a mixture of excitement and nerves. It was a crisp, sunny morning, and the warmth inside the boutique felt welcoming, like stepping into a world where dreams took shape in fabric and lace. Today was the day she would finally see her wedding dress in its complete form, the dress that she would wear to marry Levi—the love of her life.
Vivian, was already a bundle of excitement, her hands clasped together as she took in every detail of the boutique’s decor, as if each little trinket and piece of fabric added to the significance of the day. Emma and Robin were beside her, their eyes alight with anticipation as they looked at Vanessa with matching grins.
“You’re ready for this, right?” Robin asked, giving Vanessa a playful nudge.
Vanessa let out a small laugh, though her hands trembled slightly. “I think so… but I’m also a little terrified. This is really it, you know?”
Vivian placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, her eyes warm with pride. “Honey, you’re going to be breathtaking. I know it. And Levi… well, he won’t know what hit him.” She winked, a glimmer of mischief in her gaze.
Miss Draya, the ever-graceful seamstress with an eye for detail, stepped out from behind a curtain, her hands dusted with tiny flecks of lace and satin. She held her hands together, her gaze soft as she looked at Vanessa. “Are you ready to see your dress, my dear?”
Vanessa nodded, a knot forming in her throat as the reality of this moment sank in. Miss Draya motioned her towards a private fitting room, where the dress awaited, hanging like an ethereal vision of white and lace. It was carefully draped on a mannequin, catching the soft light from the window, each detail coming to life in a shimmer of delicate lace and embroidery.
As Vanessa approached, she took in every intricate detail. The dress was a masterpiece of craftsmanship—soft, flowing tulle cascading down in gentle waves, adorned with delicate floral lace detailing that traced along the bodice and flowed into the skirt. The off-shoulder design accentuated her collarbones and shoulders gracefully, and the sheer, billowing sleeves added a touch of elegance, as if she were draped in clouds. The bodice was fitted and structured, hugging her curves just right, before flaring into the soft, flowing skirt that pooled around her like petals of a flower.
“Oh, Ness…” Emma breathed, her eyes widening as she took in the sight of the dress. “It’s perfect.”
Vanessa could barely speak as she reached out, her fingers brushing over the delicate lace that adorned the bodice. Miss Draya had truly outdone herself, adding subtle touches that made the dress feel like a part of Vanessa, a reflection of her spirit and love.
With Miss Draya’s help, Vanessa carefully slipped into the dress, feeling the cool fabric embrace her skin, molding to her body as if it had been made just for her—because it had been. As the last button was fastened, Vanessa took a deep breath, steadying herself as she turned to face the mirror.
The reflection staring back at her took her breath away. She didn’t just look beautiful; she felt beautiful. She felt like a princess, like she had stepped out of a storybook, ready to meet her prince at the altar. Her eyes filled with tears as she took in every detail, every inch of the dress that had been crafted with such love and care. The lace details Miss Draya had added seemed to bloom across her skin, the soft, sheer sleeves floating delicately around her arms.
Vivian let out a small gasp, her hands flying to her mouth as tears filled her eyes. “Oh, sweetheart… you’re… you’re breathtaking.” Her voice broke slightly, and she dabbed at her eyes with a tissue, a proud smile spreading across her face. “I can’t believe my little girl is getting married.”
Robin’s eyes were shimmering with unshed tears as well, her hands clutched to her chest. “Ness, you look like a dream. Levi is going to lose his mind when he sees you.”
Emma sniffed, reaching out to give Vanessa’s hand a gentle squeeze. “I always knew you’d make a stunning bride, but this… this is beyond anything I imagined. You’re glowing.”
Vanessa blinked, her vision blurring with tears as the emotions swelled within her. She hadn’t expected to feel this overwhelmed, hadn’t anticipated just how powerful it would be to see herself in the dress she would wear to marry Levi. She wiped at her eyes, laughing softly as the tears escaped.
“I… I don’t even know what to say,” Vanessa whispered, her voice choked with emotion. “I feel so beautiful.”
Vivian stepped forward, wrapping her arms around Vanessa in a tender hug. “You are beautiful, my love. Inside and out. And that’s something Levi saw long before you ever did.”
The mention of Levi brought a fresh wave of emotion. Vanessa could already picture him standing at the altar, his calm, intense gaze softening when he saw her in this dress. She could imagine the way his eyes would hold her, as if she were the only person in the world. The thought made her heart race, and she felt a surge of anticipation for that moment, knowing that soon, she would be walking toward him, ready to start a new chapter of their lives together.
Miss Draya stood back, a proud smile on her face as she took in the scene. “It’s truly a pleasure to see you in this dress, Vanessa. You wear it well. It’s as if it was meant for you.”
Vanessa turned to her, a grateful smile on her face. “Thank you, Miss Draya. I can’t thank you enough for making this dream come true.”
The seamstress waved a hand, modest as ever. “It was an honor, my dear. You are going to be the most beautiful bride.”
Vanessa took another deep breath, letting the moment wash over her. She knew that this dress would forever hold a special place in her heart, not just for its beauty, but for what it represented—the love she shared with Levi, the journey they had traveled together, and the future they were about to build.
As she looked in the mirror, her hand resting over her heart, Vanessa whispered softly to herself, “I’m ready.”
…
With only two weeks left until the wedding, Vanessa's life had become a whirlwind of final arrangements, dress fittings, and anticipation. She was beginning to feel the mounting excitement and nerves as each day brought her closer to marrying Levi. But in the midst of it all, she felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude—for her family, for Levi, and, of course, for her friends, Emma and Robin, who had been by her side through everything.
So, when Emma and Robin invited her out for what they described as a “little surprise,” Vanessa didn’t suspect much. She assumed they were probably just planning a small outing to take her mind off wedding planning stress. She wasn’t prepared for the adorable setup they had waiting for her.
The tea parlor they chose was tucked away on a quiet street, a cozy, intimate little place with delicate floral wallpaper and vintage teapots on display. It looked like something out of a storybook. As soon as Vanessa stepped inside, her eyes widened in surprise and delight. Emma and Robin had arranged a private corner for the three of them, complete with a table covered in a beautiful pastel tablecloth, an assortment of delicate teacups, and a platter filled with finger sandwiches and pastries.
“Oh my goodness, you two!” Vanessa exclaimed, her hands flying to her mouth as she took in the sight. “You didn’t have to do this!”
“Are you kidding?” Robin laughed, giving her a warm hug. “Of course we did! It’s your bachelorette party! You think we’d let you get away without a celebration?”
“Besides,” Emma added, her eyes twinkling mischievously, “we wanted to make sure you had a little fun before the big day. You deserve this, Ness.”
Vanessa felt her heart swell with gratitude as she hugged them both, feeling a surge of love for her friends. She hadn’t expected anything like this, but the gesture warmed her heart. “Thank you,” she said, her voice thick with emotion. “You two are the best.”
They settled around the table, pouring cups of fragrant tea and laughing as they sampled the array of treats on the table. There was something so relaxing, so comforting about being here with her closest friends, sharing this quiet, joyful moment in the midst of the chaos of wedding preparations.
“So,” Robin began, smirking as she lifted her teacup, “how are you feeling? Two weeks until you become Mrs. Ackerman!”
Vanessa’s cheeks flushed, a shy smile spreading across her face. “Honestly? I’m a little nervous, but… mostly just really excited. I still can’t believe it’s happening.”
Emma beamed, reaching across the table to squeeze her hand. “You deserve every bit of this happiness, Ness. You and Levi are perfect together.”
Robin nodded in agreement, her eyes soft with affection. “We’re so proud of you. You’ve come so far, you know? From that first day you spilled tea on him to now… it’s amazing to see how much you’ve grown.”
Vanessa laughed, her cheeks pink as she recalled that embarrassing memory. “I still can’t believe he came back after that,” she admitted, her eyes shining with amusement. “I thought for sure I’d scared him off.”
“Well, good thing he didn’t!” Emma said, raising her teacup in a mock toast. “To Vanessa—our beautiful, radiant, and soon-to-be-married best friend!”
“To Vanessa!” Robin echoed, clinking her cup against Emma’s before they both tapped them against Vanessa’s.
Vanessa’s heart felt full to the brim as she took a sip, smiling at the two of them. She couldn’t imagine going through life without friends like Emma and Robin, who had seen her through every high and low, who had lifted her up and encouraged her when she doubted herself. They were more than just friends; they were family.
They continued to chat, laughing and sharing memories as they nibbled on the delicate pastries and sipped their tea. But Vanessa noticed the mischievous glances that Emma and Robin kept exchanging, a hint of something up their sleeves that they weren’t quite ready to reveal.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity of them whispering and giggling, Emma reached under the table and pulled out a neatly wrapped box. She set it in front of Vanessa with a devilish grin. “Alright, Ness. We got you a little something for your wedding night.”
Vanessa’s eyes widened in surprise as she took the box, glancing between them. “Oh no… should I be worried?”
Robin smirked, unable to contain her laughter. “Just a little. But trust us, you’ll thank us later.”
Vanessa opened the box carefully, her eyes widening as she lifted the first item—a delicate, lacy piece of lingerie in a deep, sultry shade of burgundy. She immediately felt her cheeks warm, laughter bubbling up as she held it up for a better look.
“Oh my god, you two!” she exclaimed, trying to hide her embarrassment as she admired the lingerie. “This is… wow.”
Emma grinned, clearly pleased with her reaction. “We figured you’d need something a little special for Levi. You know, to keep things exciting.”
“Plus, look at it!” Robin added, nudging her with a grin. “It’s going to look amazing on you.”
Vanessa laughed, shaking her head as she set the lingerie aside. “Thank you. Really, it’s beautiful. But I don’t know if I’ll have the guts to wear it!”
“Oh, you will,” Emma replied, her voice confident. “Trust me.”
But as Vanessa reached into the box again, her fingers brushed against something unexpected—something with an unusual shape. She pulled it out, her eyes widening as she stared at the strange object in her hand, utterly baffled. It was a… toy, though she wasn’t entirely sure where it was supposed to go or what it was supposed to do.
Her mouth dropped open, and she looked up at Emma and Robin, who were both trying—and failing—to stifle their laughter. “What… what is this?”
Robin burst into laughter, practically doubling over as she tried to explain. “It’s… it’s a, um, let’s just say it’s for your ‘enjoyment.’”
Vanessa’s face went scarlet as she examined the odd-shaped device, her mind racing as she tried to figure it out. “I… I don’t even know where this is supposed to go! Do people actually use this?”
Emma wiped a tear from her eye, trying to catch her breath. “We thought it’d be a fun joke! But, you know, if you’re curious… you could always give it a try.”
Vanessa buried her face in her hands, laughing and groaning at the same time. “You two are unbelievable! I don’t know if I should be grateful or horrified.”
“Oh, definitely grateful,” Robin said, giving her a cheeky wink. “Think of it as our way of making sure your wedding night is memorable.”
They all dissolved into laughter, the air filled with a mix of embarrassment, amusement, and joy. Vanessa couldn’t believe how thoughtful—and how utterly shameless—her friends were, but she loved them all the more for it. They had a way of making her feel cherished, supported, and completely understood, even in the most unconventional ways.
After the initial shock wore off, Vanessa carefully placed the items back in the box, still chuckling as she shook her head. “You two are insane. But… thank you. Really. This was such a wonderful surprise, and I feel so lucky to have you both.”
Emma wrapped an arm around her shoulders, pulling her close. “We’re the lucky ones, Ness. Watching you blossom, seeing you find love and happiness with Levi… it’s been an honor.”
Robin nodded, her eyes glistening with emotion. “We’re so proud of you. You’ve come so far, and no one deserves this happiness more than you.”
Vanessa felt tears prick at her eyes, her heart swelling with gratitude. “I couldn’t have done any of this without you two. Thank you… for always being there, for helping me find my confidence, and for believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself.”
They hugged tightly, a shared embrace filled with years of friendship, love, and unwavering support. In that moment, Vanessa knew that no matter where life took them, no matter how much things changed, she would always carry this bond with her. Emma and Robin had been there through every chapter of her life, and now, as she prepared to start this new journey with Levi, she felt a profound sense of peace, knowing she would always have them by her side.
As they pulled back, wiping at their eyes with laughter and sniffles, Emma lifted her teacup in a toast. “To Vanessa—the most beautiful bride, an amazing friend, and the luckiest woman to have snagged herself Humanity’s Strongest Soldier.”
“To Vanessa!” Robin echoed, raising her cup with a grin.
Vanessa raised her own teacup, a bright smile lighting up her face. “To friendship, to love, and to all the adventures that lie ahead.”
They clinked their teacups together, sealing the moment with laughter, love, and promises that would carry them forward, no matter what life had in store. And as they sipped their tea, basking in the warmth of each other’s company, Vanessa knew that this was a memory she would cherish forever.
…
Meanwhile, Levi was making his way down the familiar halls of Scout Regiment headquarters, lost in thought. His wedding was only two weeks away, and though he was never one to get overly sentimental, he couldn’t help the subtle sense of excitement that had been brewing beneath his usual demeanor. The preparations had been overwhelming at times, but with Vanessa by his side, it felt… worth it. More than worth it.
But today, he was caught a bit off guard by the silence in the halls, which felt unusual for this time of day. Usually, there was at least some hustle and bustle, even if it was just Sasha hunting for her next snack or Jean and Connie bickering about something trivial. Today, however, it was strangely quiet, and Levi couldn’t shake the feeling that something was up.
As he approached the mess hall, the doors were closed—a rarity in itself. He reached out to push one of the doors open, and before he could even register what was happening, a loud chorus of voices rang out, nearly deafening him.
“SURPRISE!”
The doors burst open, and Levi was hit with a blast of noise, streamers, and confetti. He squinted, barely able to make out the sight in front of him. The entire mess hall had been transformed. Banners stretched across the ceiling, reading, “Congratulations, Captain Levi!” and “Best Wishes for the Wedding!” The tables had been rearranged into a sort of open space for people to mingle, and at the center was a large, ornate cake decorated with miniature figures of him and Vanessa—though, judging by the uncharacteristically mischievous grin on his figurine’s face, Hange had likely been involved in its design.
Hange, of course, was leading the charge, standing at the front with a huge grin, holding up her own glass in celebration. “Welcome to your bachelor party, Levi!” she shouted, her voice filled with glee.
Before Levi could say a word, he was hit square in the face by a burst of streamers from a party popper. He jerked back, feeling the plastic streamers cling to his face as he glared in the direction of the culprit. Connie was standing there, frozen, his eyes wide with a mixture of horror and amusement.
“Oh, crap,” Connie muttered, holding his hands up defensively. “Sorry, Captain! I was aiming for, uh… anywhere else but your face.”
Levi’s gaze narrowed, but instead of snapping at Connie, he merely gave him a look that promised retribution at a later date. “Watch where you’re aiming next time,” he muttered, pulling the streamers off his face, though a hint of amusement glinted in his eyes.
The room erupted into laughter, everyone relaxing a bit now that Levi hadn’t immediately turned and walked out. Sasha, clutching a handful of snacks, gave him a thumbs-up. “Happy pre-wedding celebration, Captain!”
Eren stepped forward, a rare smile on his face as he clapped Levi on the back. “You didn’t think we’d let you get married without celebrating, did you?”
Levi let out a quiet sigh, feeling his cheeks heat just the slightest bit. “I should’ve known you’d be up to something like this,” he said, casting a glance at Hange, who was clearly thrilled with herself. “But I didn’t expect the entire regiment to be involved.”
“Are you kidding?” Hange replied, her eyes shining with excitement. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime event! Humanity’s Strongest Soldier getting married? We couldn’t just let that slide by quietly.”
Jean approached with a grin, holding up a glass. “To Captain Levi! May marriage finally teach you patience,” he quipped, earning a round of laughter from the room.
“Or at least a little tolerance for other people’s cooking,” Sasha added with a snicker, gesturing to the impressive spread of food that had been set up for the occasion. Levi cast her a dry look, but even he couldn’t help the faint smile that tugged at the corner of his mouth.
With the initial surprise over, Levi allowed himself to relax a bit, surveying the room and the faces of his comrades. These were the people he’d fought alongside, the ones who had become his family in their own way. It was strange to think of them organizing something like this for him, but there was an odd warmth in his chest that he hadn’t expected. He looked back at Eren, Armin, Mikasa, and the others who had been by his side through thick and thin, and he couldn’t help but feel a sense of gratitude.
As he moved further into the room, Hange looped her arm through his, leading him toward the center of the celebration. “Come on, Levi, don’t just stand there looking all grumpy. This is a party, and you’re the guest of honor!”
Levi gave her a deadpan look. “Hange, I’m not ‘grumpy.’ This is my natural expression.”
Hange snorted, waving a hand dismissively. “Yeah, yeah. Whatever you say, Captain.”
She pulled him over to a table filled with drinks—some alcoholic, others non-alcoholic, though Levi was fairly certain that most of them contained at least a little something extra. Jean handed him a glass with a knowing grin, and Levi accepted it with a slight nod, giving the glass a sniff before taking a cautious sip. The taste was smooth, a well-aged liquor that went down easily.
Mikasa, standing nearby, offered him a rare smile. “Congratulations, Levi. I think I speak for all of us when I say… we’re glad you found someone who makes you happy.”
Levi glanced at her, appreciating the sentiment even if he wasn’t one to express it openly. “Thank you, Mikasa.”
As the evening wore on, the laughter and chatter in the room grew louder, the warmth of camaraderie filling the space. Connie and Sasha were engaged in a heated drinking contest, both of them trying to prove who could hold their liquor better, while Jean and Armin placed bets on who would win. Hange, meanwhile, had taken it upon herself to tell a slightly exaggerated version of Levi and Vanessa’s story, complete with wild gestures and dramatic pauses.
“…and then, as Vanessa spilled that tea, Levi looked at her with those intense, brooding eyes, and he knew right there and there that she was the love of his life!” Hange declared, spinning around dramatically.
Levi rolled his eyes, though he couldn’t help the faint smirk that crossed his face. “That’s not exactly how it happened, Hange.”
“Oh, but that’s the best part!” Hange replied, grinning mischievously. “Everyone loves a good romantic twist. Besides, it’s not every day that you fall head over heels.”
Eren raised his glass, grinning. “Heres to that twist, then. And here’s to Vanessa for somehow getting through that infamous glare.”
Levi raised an eyebrow, but he clinked his glass with Eren’s, feeling a surge of appreciation for his comrades. He could feel himself unwinding in a way he hadn’t expected, the weight of responsibility and duty set aside, if only for this one night. It was strange, allowing himself to relax like this, but he found he didn’t mind it. Not when he was surrounded by the people who had seen him at his best and worst, the ones who’d fought alongside him, survived alongside him.
As the night wore on, Hange pulled out a deck of cards, declaring that no bachelor party was complete without a few rounds of poker. Jean and Connie immediately dove in, each of them convinced they were the best players in the room, while Armin watched with quiet amusement, occasionally offering strategic advice to whoever seemed to need it most.
Sasha, ever the instigator, leaned over to Levi as the game started, nudging him with a smirk. “So, Captain, any pre-wedding jitters?”
Levi shrugged, taking another sip from his drink. “Nothing I can’t handle.”
Jean snickered, dealing the cards. “Of course. Figures Captain would be the calmest groom-to-be ever.”
Eren, watching him closely, leaned forward. “You don’t fool us, Captain. We know you’re excited. You’re just too good at hiding it.”
Levi didn’t respond directly, but there was a glimmer in his eye, a rare softness that spoke volumes. “Maybe,” he said, his tone almost teasing, a hint of a smirk playing on his lips.
The evening continued with rounds of poker, laughter, and friendly banter. Levi found himself fully immersed in the moment, appreciating the bond he shared with each of them, a camaraderie built through battles, sacrifices, and unwavering loyalty. It was a reminder of everything he’d fought for, and in that moment, he felt a rare sense of peace.
He didn’t know what to expect from a “bachelor party,” let alone one organized by Hange and the Scouts, but their energy and light-hearted enthusiasm had grown on him as the evening wore on. He'd received a few thoughtful gifts from his comrades: a sturdy new set of cleaning supplies from Armin, who knew his penchant for cleanliness; a leather-bound journal from Mikasa, something for Levi to record his thoughts or memories if he ever felt inclined; and even a sleek set of cooking utensils from Sasha and Connie, hinting that perhaps one day he’d be cooking romantic meals for Vanessa.
Levi had accepted each gift with a small nod of gratitude, appreciating the thoughtfulness behind them. But the most peculiar and undoubtedly the most ridiculous gift of the night was the one Hange brought forward.
With a gleam in her eye, she walked up to Levi, holding something behind her back, her entire expression practically vibrating with excitement. “Levi,” she began, barely able to keep a straight face, “I know you’ve received some truly heartfelt and practical gifts tonight, but I figured… you might need something with a bit more personality.”
Levi’s eyes narrowed in suspicion as he looked at her, knowing full well that “personality” in Hange’s terms often bordered on insane. “What did you do?” he muttered, glancing warily at the rest of the Scouts, who were trying—and failing—to stifle their laughter.
“Oh, don’t be so serious!” Hange grinned, whipping out the gift with a flourish. In her hands was a shirt, but not just any shirt. It was bright white, emblazoned with bold, playful letters that declared “I LOVE VANESSA” across the chest. The shirt was absolutely covered in various illustrations of Vanessa’s face, each one somehow more dramatic and exaggerated than the last. From serene smiles to slightly ridiculous winks, Hange had apparently commissioned—or drawn—dozens of different “Vanessa expressions” to create this masterpiece.
For a moment, there was stunned silence. Levi stared at the shirt, his face a mixture of shock and disbelief, as if he couldn’t quite process what he was looking at. Then, the Scouts erupted into laughter, their voices echoing throughout the mess hall.
“Oh… my… god!” Jean managed to say between breaths, clutching his stomach. “Hange, you outdid yourself!”
Armin was covering his mouth, trying to maintain some level of decorum but failing miserably. “I… I didn’t know you could even make a shirt like that!”
Sasha’s laughter was so loud it nearly drowned out the others, her face red as she gasped for air. “Oh, Captain, you have to wear it! You have to!”
Levi’s eyes were still fixed on the shirt, his expression unreadable. He glanced over at Hange, who was grinning proudly, clearly thrilled with her creation. “You’re kidding,” he deadpanned, holding the shirt with two fingers as if it might explode in his hands. “There’s no way I’m putting this on.”
“Oh, come on, Levi!” Hange urged, practically bouncing with excitement. “It’s all in good fun! Besides, you know Vanessa would love it if she saw you wearing it!”
The room erupted in another wave of laughter, with the Scouts chanting, “Put it on! Put it on!” Connie was especially vocal, egging Levi on with an impish grin. “Come on, Captain! Where’s your sense of humor?”
Levi shot them all a glare, the kind that could silence an entire room on the battlefield, but here, amidst his closest friends, it only fueled their laughter. Against his better judgment, he felt his resolve cracking. As ridiculous as the shirt was, he couldn’t deny the amused glances and expectant faces around him, each one silently pleading for him to go along with the joke.
With a sigh of resignation, Levi looked at Hange. “If I put this on, will you all shut up?”
“Absolutely!” Hange promised, though her grin made it clear she had no intention of actually keeping that promise.
Grumbling under his breath, Levi tugged off his jacket and slipped the shirt over his head, adjusting it as it settled over his frame. He stood there, arms crossed, his expression as stone-faced as ever, but the contrast between his intense, stoic demeanor and the absurdity of the shirt had the Scouts in hysterics.
The chants turned into cheers and applause as Levi finally, albeit reluctantly, donned the “I LOVE VANESSA” shirt covered in illustrations of his fiancée’s face. It was a sight none of them would soon forget.
Eren was practically in tears, slapping Jean on the back as he struggled to catch his breath. “Oh man, if Vanessa could see you now, Captain… she’d probably frame this moment!”
Jean managed to compose himself enough to nod, grinning ear to ear. “Honestly, Captain, you’re really pulling off the ‘romantic fiancé’ look.”
Levi shot him a look of pure disdain, though a slight smirk betrayed him. “If any of you mention this to Vanessa, I’ll have you scrubbing the latrines for a month.”
Hange clapped her hands together, looking at Levi with a look of mock adoration. “Aw, Levi, you look so proud! I knew you’d be the kind of guy to show off his love so boldly.”
Levi rolled his eyes, though he couldn’t help the small, almost imperceptible chuckle that escaped him. “You’re all idiots,” he muttered, shaking his head.
Armin, who had finally composed himself, spoke up with a smile. “Captain, we’re just happy for you. Honestly. We might joke around, but we all admire how much you care about Vanessa.”
A quiet nod of agreement went around the room, the laughter slowly fading into a comfortable silence as they all looked at Levi with genuine fondness. Levi felt his chest tighten slightly, the weight of their words settling over him. He hadn’t expected a moment like this to feel so significant, but he realized then that his comrades, his family, were just as invested in his happiness as he was. It was humbling, and it reminded him just how fortunate he was to have them all in his life.
Clearing his throat, Levi glanced down at the absurd shirt again, shaking his head with a rueful smile. “Alright, you’ve had your fun. Now, someone get me a drink before I decide to throw this shirt out the window.”
Sasha immediately handed him a drink, grinning as she saluted him playfully. “For the most romantic Captain in the Scouts!”
Levi took the drink, rolling his eyes as he muttered, “I swear, you’re all impossible.”
But as he took a sip, surrounded by the laughter and warmth of his friends, he felt a rare sense of contentment settle over him. This was more than just a celebration; it was a reminder that he wasn’t alone, that his happiness mattered to these people, and that they would stand by him no matter what.
The rest of the evening passed in a blur of laughter, stories, and playful jabs. Levi even managed to crack a few jokes of his own, much to the surprise of his comrades, who delighted in seeing this rare, lighter side of him. And despite his initial resistance, he found himself almost… enjoying the ridiculous shirt, if only for the memories it represented.
By the time the night drew to a close, Levi knew he’d carry this moment with him, a testament to the bond he shared with the Scouts. As he prepared to marry Vanessa and embark on a new chapter of his life, he felt a renewed sense of gratitude for the family he’d found here, and he knew that no matter where life took him, he’d always have these memories—and these friends—to carry with him.
…
Levi unlocked the door to his and Vanessa’s apartment, feeling more than a little ridiculous in the bright white T-shirt emblazoned with “I LOVE VANESSA” in bold letters, surrounded by all the various illustrated expressions of his fiancée’s face. He’d never hear the end of it from Hange or the rest of the Scouts, but he was too tired to chase Hange down and retrieve his original shirt. Instead, he’d just decided to wear it home, planning to change into something more comfortable as soon as he got in.
Stepping inside, he let out a small sigh of relief as the familiar comfort of their apartment settled over him. This place, their shared space, had become his sanctuary. It was a stark contrast from the quiet solitude he was once used to, but now, it was filled with warmth, with traces of Vanessa’s touch everywhere—from the soft cushions on the couch to the light scent of vanilla lingering in the air.
As he walked further inside, he spotted Vanessa near the kitchen counter, fiddling with something in her hands. She hadn’t noticed him yet, but the moment she looked up and saw him in the doorway, her eyes widened in surprise—and then she burst out laughing.
“Oh my god, Levi,” she managed between laughs, her hand covering her mouth. “What… what are you wearing?”
Levi felt his face flush slightly, but he crossed his arms and gave her a half-hearted glare. “Don’t ask. This is Hange’s idea of a ‘gift,’” he muttered, glancing down at the absurd shirt. “She and the Scouts thought it’d be funny. And, of course, she stole my original shirt, so I had no choice but to come home like this.”
Vanessa was still giggling, clearly delighted by the sight. “I think it’s cute,” she teased, walking over to him. “You should wear it more often. It shows everyone just how much you love me.”
Levi scoffed, but he couldn’t help the small smile that tugged at the corner of his mouth as he looked at her. “If it makes you laugh like this, maybe it’s worth keeping around,” he admitted, his voice softening.
Vanessa stepped closer, reaching out to straighten the collar of the shirt, still grinning. “It’s definitely a keeper. You might even wear it to bed tonight,” she teased, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
But as Levi took in her playful expression, he noticed a slight flush on her cheeks and the way she kept one hand carefully behind her back, almost as if she were hiding something. His gaze narrowed, his suspicion rising.
“What are you hiding back there?” he asked, nodding his chin toward her hand.
Vanessa’s eyes widened, her smile turning nervous. “What? Oh, nothing. Nothing at all,” she replied quickly, a little too quickly.
Levi raised an eyebrow, crossing his arms. “Really? Because it sure looks like you’re trying to hiide something.”
Vanessa gave him an innocent smile, shrugging her shoulders as if to brush off his suspicion. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Levi took a step closer, his curiosity piqued. He leaned in, his eyes fixed on her face, watching as her cheeks grew redder. “You’re a terrible liar, Vanessa,” he said, a smirk forming on his lips. “Come on, let me see it.”
She shook her head, taking a small step back, keeping the mysterious item hidden behind her. “Levi, it’s really nothing. Just… you don’t need to worry about it.”
Levi’s smirk grew, his eyes glinting with a playful challenge. “Oh, now I really want to see it,” he said, taking another step forward.
Vanessa’s heart skipped a beat, her mind racing as she tried to think of a way to change the subject. She knew that if Levi saw what Emma and Robin had given her, she’d never hear the end of it. It was embarrassing enough that they’d given her such a… bold gift, and she wasn’t sure she was ready to face Levi’s reaction.
“Seriously, Levi, it’s… it’s nothing important,” she insisted, trying to keep her voice steady.
But Levi wasn’t buying it. He took another step, closing the distance between them, his smirk turning into a grin. “You know, Vanessa, I don’t give up that easily.”
Before she could react, he lunged forward, reaching around her to grab at whatever she was hiding. Vanessa let out a startled laugh, dodging to the side as she tried to keep the item out of his reach.
“Levi! Stop!” she squealed, twisting to avoid his grasp, but Levi was relentless. He was quick, his hands deftly moving as he tried to catch her, a playful determination in his eyes.
“Oh, I’m not stopping until I see what you’re hiding,” he teased, his tone low and mischievous as he reached for her again.
Vanessa laughed, her cheeks burning as she continued to evade him, but she knew it was only a matter of time before he caught her. Levi was far too persistent—and far too skilled—to let her slip away for long. Finally, with a triumphant grin, Levi managed to catch her around the waist, pulling her close as he reached behind her back.
“Got you,” he murmured, his voice filled with satisfaction as he grabbed the small box she had been hiding.
“No!” Vanessa gasped, trying to take it back, but Levi held it out of her reach, giving her a smug look.
“Let’s see what we have here,” he said, his tone teasing as he examined the box. But as he read the label, his eyebrows shot up, a look of surprise—and perhaps a hint of amusement—crossing his face.
Vanessa felt her face go bright red as she watched him realize what he was holding. “Levi, I… I can explain,” she stammered, her voice barely a whisper.
Levi opened the box, his eyes widening as he took in the contents—a rather daring-looking toy, courtesy of Emma and Robin, who had clearly thought this was the perfect “bachelorette” gift. He looked back at Vanessa, a smirk forming on his lips as he held up the toy, his expression somewhere between amusement and disbelief.
“Care to explain, Ness?” he asked, his voice filled with playful curiosity.
Vanessa covered her face with her hands, too embarrassed to meet his gaze. “It’s… it’s not what you think!” she protested weakly, though she knew that was a terrible lie.
Levi chuckled, holding up the toy and examining it with an intrigued look. “Oh, really? Because it looks exactly like what I think it is,” he said, his voice dropping to a teasing whisper. “Did Emma and Robin give you this?”
Vanessa peeked through her fingers, nodding, her face still burning. “Yes,” she admitted, her voice barely audible. “They thought it would be… funny.”
Levi’s smirk widened, his eyes dancing with mischief as he set the toy down on the counter, leaning in close to her. “I’ll have to thank them,” he murmured, his voice low and teasing. “They clearly wanted us to… have some fun.”
Vanessa felt her heart race as Levi’s gaze lingered on her, a warmth spreading through her that made her pulse quicken. She could see the playful glint in his eyes, and despite her embarrassment, she couldn’t help but laugh.
“Well, I’m not sure I’m ready to use… that,” she admitted, glancing at the toy with a sheepish smile. “But they were so insistent…”
Levi chuckled, pulling her into his arms as he looked down at her, his expression softening. “You don’t have to use anything you’re not comfortable with, Vanessa,” he said, his voice gentle. “All I need is you.”
Vanessa smiled, feeling a wave of relief and affection as she looked up at him. “Thank you,” she whispered, resting her head against his chest. “You always know how to make me feel better.”
Levi pressed a kiss to the top of her head, holding her close as they stood together in the quiet comfort of their home. For a moment, the world around them faded away, and all that mattered was the warmth of each other’s presence.
As they stood there, wrapped in each other’s arms, Vanessa felt her embarrassment slowly fade, replaced by a sense of peace and contentment. She knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, she would always have Levi by her side, supporting her, loving her, and making her feel cherished.
And as Levi held her, he silently vowed to make every moment of their life together as full of love, laughter, and warmth as this one.

Hi Julius, it's me again!
So, you make dresses and other clothing out of your victims right, and just with the skin? I was wondering what you do with the rest of the body? Also, isn't human skin/leather very thin for clothing?
-anon☆
I sew dresses directly on my victims to make them perfect! I skin the parts of their bodies that will be hidden anyway, and that's what I use to make the leather, you know?
Yes, it's certainly a difficult fabric to work with at first, you have to learn how to properly make it and how to make sure it's as sturdy as possible. It wasn't something I perfected over night, you know? Years of trial and error. However, the thinness of it can come in handy, making it easier to work with when you want much more fitted clothing. It's really all about the techniques and skill of the maker - a properly skilled artist and craftsman can make a masterpiece with whatever materials in front of them, you know?
As for the rest of the bodies, they are simply my mannequins. I cut their heads off. And use them to display the perfect dress I sewed on them, I made them perfect, so I should show it off! I used to try to keep their heads on, to make them like dolls, but tch, so many people are such a lost cause in the face when it comes to perfection. Plus, I really like doing the decapitation... I do have one perfect doll I made though...the first I made. Annabella.

Chapters: 8/8 Fandom: 방탄소년단 | Bangtan Boys | BTS Rating: Mature Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings Relationships: Kim Namjoon | Rap Monster/Reader Characters: Kim Namjoon | Rap Monster Additional Tags: Angst, Romance, Drama, Fluff, Smut, Slow Burn
Summary:
You are betrothed to Kim Namjoon, the heir of a real estate mogul. To say that it was a fairytale romance would be erroneous. You’re instead loped in the sad tale of the rich and melancholy.
I am lost for words once again, this is such a beautifully written story, I have immersed once again into the role of a beautifully awkward woman who’s betrothed to Kim Namjoon.
what is love? how do you know it’s love? how do you know you’re in love? those were the questions I asked myself while reading this and wondering if all of this was worth it because I am fully aware of how beautiful love is, it’s one of the best feelings one could ever have, but it can also crush your heart to pieces because when you love someone you can’t just choose happiness then leave when you feel like everything’s too much, you have to take everything in, face the beautiful melody and the eerily haunting ones too and I applaud our MC here for loving with all her heart even if it’s painfully obvious that she got the short end of the stick and has to work her way to the top in order for things to work because even if all of this was just a farce she wanted to try, she wanted this to work because she wants to love and be loved.
I applaud op for writing such an amazing story her inspiration to write it made it hurt more because I have seen What Happened in Bali when it was released but I was too young back then to understand the dynamics of their relationship all I know was Jo In Sung was my type hjsdfgjsgdfjksd anyway be informed that this is a slow burn story if you can’t handle too much tension and build-up you might find this bland at first but you really should give it a read (especially if you’re after the smut because it’s worth the wait I promise) op made sure we know everyone’s backstory, I’m satisfied she chose that path in unraveling this equally beautiful and heartbreaking story, to be in MC’s shoes I would lose my mind, I’m a creature made to love so if I’d be set-up to marry someone for money, I won’t have the heart to fight my parents so just like her I would try, but with their set-up, Namjoon obviously just an empty shell drained by his former love who still owned his heart is painful, how can you try when his heart belongs to someone else? it’s frustrating and I would walk away just keep up the act for the press and leave once the contract expires.
the characters here are written as if they actually exist as if this was based on true events, tbh I hated all of them at some point even the MC (but my love for her was greater so I won’t elaborate on that one), but I’m starting (I'll be talking as if she was actually me because I literally absorbed and immersed all of her beautiful fucking pain) with the person I hated the most aka Namjoon, you literally crushed me and my hopes in some parts baby, it kinda hurt seeing photos of you in my dash after reading those parts that made me hate bits and pieces of you, but what I hate the most is that I can’t dare to fucking hate you with all I have because you are you, it was a lost cause to even try because I was too immersed and I loved you too much to just fucking flip and walk away from you, though I did pray for you to suffer longer, but you have suffered long enough from women who kept on taking parts of you with them, I am here to pour all of me onto you and fill you with love and heal until you’re you again, the Namjoon that got whipped for me at some point, the Namjoon that whipped me, the Namjoon that fate bestowed upon me with a challenge, the Namjoon I learned to love and spend forever with. Sana, I hated you from the beginning until the end, you were you and I would never fill the hole you left in his heart, but did you really have to hurt me and smack to my face how immaculate you are? you have good intentions and you were mature and I’m nothing but a petty mess but this is me, I wanted to love him in hopes he’d learn to love me too but you keep getting in the way, tbh I never like the friendship you offered, nor the projects you were proposing, it was for a cause but I am petty insecure mess and I see you as a threat, I saw you as a sly snake who would bite me with venom if you fail to make me pliant to your requests, but I trusted Namjoon though it was uncomfortable (I’m not comfy with it because it happened to me before and I happen to have a shitty memory of it so I’m not willing to do it all over again) but op was right, she wrote you in a way people would find it hard to hate you, I felt that way but my petty side got the best of me. Chairman Kim Je-Dong, I hated you for taking Namjoon away from me when I still had no clue as to why it happened that way, and the moments interrupted but I love and respect you with all my heart father, because if it weren’t for your advice I wouldn’t be this happy, thank you. I think the rest of my hate-spree were petty lol, so I’ll stop here now.
what I’m trying to say is this story greatly affected me, I have never felt so livid and bursting with tears at a fictional argument, it freakin’ ripped my heart to shreds, I was a crying mess during the fight, I felt like this was it, it’s the end, but they just needed to be petty and take a break from each other, I only fully understood their pain as soon as MC started to retaliate, both have their valid points this is why they should’ve remained honest with each other, honest about digging his past, and knowing him thru that small gift and be honest and not make any promises you can’t keep for fucks sake their marriage is painfully accurate because it happens irl, men slaves to their work to make a living, women either work or take care of the house and kids if they have any, and not everyone has the time to address the issue until everything is falling apart, and irreparable. I have fallen head over heels in love forgetting about the fact that this was all for show, they were a perfect match if you ask me, I keep getting butterflies in my stomach, they literally made me believe in the process of falling in love, it wasn’t rushed at all and their cute date moments made my heart combust, what more could I ask for? and when he knew that this was it god those moments crushed me and made me a really sad ball of floof covered in salty tears, all emotions were just so intense even the dramatic moments that tested me and probably everyone out, the hospital scene, the park scene, the villa scene, all of it making my heart hurt so much I cry. the smut took a while before we got what we all were thirsty for but it was so worth it, even if it dragged for quite some time I couldn’t complain because he did make up for it and it was all good.
in short this fic teaches us to be open, honest and loving, open your eyes and your heart for a new love, if you’ve been hurt before don’t close your doors happiness doesn’t happen once, sure somebody made you happy before but eventually had the heart to hurt you but your happiness doesn’t end there, let someone enter your life and make you feel happy once again. be honest and communicative about everything with your lover, talk about your feelings, your concerns, things about your day, food you ate, conversations you had, deals you closed, people you encountered, small talk matters in any relationship, hell you can even talk about potatoes and it would assure your lover you still care but never lie about anything because people can see through us especially when you love someone it’s much easier to decipher their emotions even if we don’t want to accept it if it’s not a pleasant one. be loving, don’t let your past harden your heart, love, again and again, and again if you must, because that’s probably the only salvation we’ll get in this hellhole. again op thank you for this masterpiece these words may not get to you but I hope wherever you are, you are doing good and know that you are amazing! | 🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒
#a:fringesofsanity#t:covenant#m:knj#ft:myg#g:angst#g:smut#g:fluff#g:drama#g:romance#series#au:arranged marriage#au:lovers#ao3#🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒#the song recs here didn't hel at all because those tracks were once part of my sappy sad healing playlist lol#also mannequin really is perfect for this masterpiece#thank you for not hurting me all over again op#i mean i did hurt but not as painful as RoW because that is like the most accurate ending for any fic under the same genre#you did make sana hard to hate but it was totally easy for me to hate her -- probably because i'm reminded of someone lol

Please please please I wanna see your opinions on the Lady I loved reading your tags
I don't know if you meant for the character thing I just reblogged or in general so I'm gonna use the character thing to dump my Lady thoughts on all of you JAKDKSLDKDLNAKDKSKS LETS GO
favorite thing about them: SO MANY THING UGHHSNDND. Ok lets start with the fact that her design is perfect like... milady (wlw) (gender envy) JWKEKKK No ok but going back to being serious.
I noticed that all the different Lady statues you have to find in the DLC all wear a different colors and since I'm very interested in color coded characters I got curious. Basically what I found out is that her dress is a darker shade of the Tangerine color, which is associated with Beauty, Vigilance, Strenght, Dedication and Willpower to name a few, which ... if they did that on purpose, which I'm sure they did. Well played. Clever.
I've already talked about the symbolism behind the Rascal mask so I won't get into it here, but I love that too.
I also love the fact that she floats most of the time. And that shes 2 meters tall? That's terrifying. In an irl setting I would barely reach her shoulder. Lastly, her voice - it's hauntingly beautiful.
least favorite thing about them: I was about to say the way she keeps her quarters but then I remembered these UGLY ASS DOLLS
WHY. LITERALLY WHY DO THEY HAVE TO BE SO UGLY😭
favorite line: I'd say her singing but you know what? I like feral Lady more.
The sound she makes when going after Six in the dark mannequin room? Masterpiece. Mwa. Perfection. Absolutely stunning.
brOTP: Well, her and all the workers on the Maw, but mostly HER👏AND👏ROGER👏 I WILL NEVER SHUT IP ABOUT THEM OMG.
The concept of a mean tall woman who's insicure about her looks and a nice short blind man being besties is literally perfect to me. I have an headcanon that she left him to take care of the children because he's the one she trusts the most.
Also look at this cute ass tapestry you can find in Roger's bedroom and the Lady's personal elevator🥺
It looks like they're holding hands please😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 im gonna cry what the fuck,,, this is supposed to be an horror game who allowed this????
ALSO THE LADY AND THE CHEFS. This is so weird to me bc I never really considered it until I realized how many paintings of them the has laying around her quarters??? Including their baby pictures.
(I mean, I assumed those are their baby pictures. One of the chefs does have blueish skin under the mask.)
The theory that the chefs were born on the Maw is actually really funny if you think the Lady saw these babies and though "mghnnghh yes sons" and kept them. Love the concept though. NOW I THOUGHT ABOUT ONE OF THE CHEFS CALLING HER " MA' " BY ACCIDENT AUHEJSKRLSOFOPF
OTP: Her and the Thin Man💔 The drama, the pain, the untold words... and the clonwery bc can you imagine if they're not connected at all?? All of us be like 🤡 UWUSAUSJAKDKS No but they are connected. They are.
Still, I also like their individual characters. They go well together, but I appreciate them by themselves as well - which is what makes the ship interesting to me, because I'm interested in both characters as individuals.
now who wants me to drop the songs i cry to while drawing fanarts of them
NOTP: Eh, none?
unpopular opinion: I don't personally believe in the "Six is the Lady" theory, but I can see why so many do. The two are definetely deeply connected.
random headcanon: She wrote a book about her life on the Maw at some point, probably as a commercial move to have more people coming on the Maw and also to get that coin. Good for her.
This isn't even an headcanon I literally just saw a book with her mask on it in the Residence and just assumed what was inside.
song I associate with them: TO NAME A FEW.
"Ship in a Bottle" - Steffan Argus
"Liar" - The Arcadian Wild
"Body" - Mother Mother
favorite picture of them:
Couldn't pick between these two! I love the comics sm😩🤚

The VelociPastor (2018)
This one holds an especially special place in my heart. I’m always proud of classmates and teachers and other folks from my hometown who go on to do amazing things. I knew he was a force to be reckoned with when he played Orin Scrivello, D.D.S. in our high school production of Little Shop of Horrors, and I’m so glad to see his talent and determination produced this fucking gem. Yes, I did just shamelessly brag about having been acquainted with the writer/director/producer/editor in high school. But in all honesty, I’m extremely happy to have known him and to be able to include this absolute MASTERPIECE in my world record attempt.
Father Stewart: So your parents died, Doug. It's what parents do. They die on you.
I love that Doug tells the homeless man he took a vow of poverty and then runs off, no change to give the downtrodden. Then Carol comes by, telling Doug off for being inconsiderate as he runs into her and then she digs some coins out of her purse to hand to the homeless man. I can only speculate, but that definitely feels like some pointed commentary. I love it.
Frankie Mermaid: Now, what’s my name? Carol: Frankie Mermaid. Frankie Mermaid: And why is my name Frankie Mermaid? [Carol mumbles] Frankie Mermaid: Speak up girl, or else I’m gonna give you the fucking boot! Carol: [raises voice] ‘Cause you’re swimmin’ in bitches! Frankie Mermaid: You’re goddamn right!
Frankie Mermaid: Yo, Cherry! If you stuffed dicks in your mouth like you’re doing that sandwich, I’d be a fucking millionaire by now!
Doug Jones: I don't believe you. Dinosaurs never existed, and even if they did, I don't transform into one.
Doug Jones: You're a hooker? Carol: And premed/law, but people aren't surprised as much by that one.
Carol: You think I like turning tricks to pay for college? There’s surprisingly little demand for hooker-doctor-lawyers.
Doug Jones: What is it that you'd like to confess? Frankie Mermaid: Oh, geez, I guess we could cover the last... four days? Stole candy from this baby, then I threw the baby in the river - so it couldn't snitch, obviously - then, ah, well, I pimp bitches; I do drugs, sell drugs, murder people - really, you name it, I've done it, padre.
Carol: I don’t know much about God...
Doug Jones: Father Stewart, what if I told you that I was different? Father Stewart: You're not that different. There are plenty of men like that in the church.
Doug Jones: I might be on a mission from God himself! Father Stewart: That's insane, Doug! God does not want people dead! Doug Jones: Oh, I think God wants a lot of people dead.
Father Stewart: War is war, and war is hell, and hell never changes.
HOW DIDN’T I NOTICE THAT ALTAIR IS PLAYED BY MUSICIAN VOLTAIRE!? I LISTENED TO SO MUCH OF HIS MUSIC AS A TEENAGER!!! WTF!?!?!?! THIS IS CURRENTLY MY NEW FAVORITE THING ABOUT THIS FILM!!! How am I this stupid? How did I not notice this sooner!? I’m a dum-dum. Oh my gods, that makes this movie a thousand times more perfect.
Oh my god... another sort of subtle joke that I’m not sure whether or not it was intentional (It fucking has to be... it just has to) -- there is a ninja called Choi-Min who doesn’t say a word except in a voiceover while he’s ignoring a ninja who’s talking strategy. The ninja talking strategy has Australian accent. When he says “Choi-Min” it sounds like he’s saying “Chime in”, making the name Choi-Min super punny... and I know that’s a small thing, but it made me ridiculously happy that I noticed another thing I hadn’t noticed in this film before.
Doug Jones: Your ancestors are my ancestors!
I love that Carol was dying, but she ends up in a general doctor’s office-looking place rather than a hospital. It cracks me up more than it’s probably meant to.
ESE: 98/100
50 +5 for “Rated X by an all-christian jury” -10 for blowing up Doug’s parents +10 for VFX: Car on fire +10 for the “what parents do” line +5 for the subtle Jurassic Park riff at the end of the opening credits -5 for China looking a lot like the woods behind my house +3 for mannequin head +5 for hooker-doctor-lawyers +5 for Frankie Mermaid’s confession +2 for the high-five +5 for prolonged goofy ninja laughter -5 for Vietnam also looking a lot like the woods behind my house -5 for Ali’s death +7 for Ali continuing to puff on his cigarette after death -5 for poor, sweet Adeline’s demise +5 for Altair -5 for ripping out Father Stewart’s eye +8 for the way the sex scene is edited +5 for kicking ass in their undies -5 for stabbing Father Stewart +5 for prolonged ninja laughter again -5 for neglecting poor Sam -5 for cutting Carol +5 for the ninjas crying for Carol +10 for hilarious AF dino costume +3 for re-use of the mannequin head -5 for smoking in a hospital +5 for the Chevelle

luuuune can u give music recs? the songs your fics are named after are all so good
grouping these all together bc most of my inspiration does come from music!! usually, my ideas start w a general vibe or “spark”, and then i flesh it out from there. the spark normally comes from music, but sometimes it’s a book i’m reading, or a conversation i had, or just random things (for example, i saw some flowers earlier this week that gave me an idea for a dabi fic KDHFJSK). i usually pick one song and loop it while i’m writing bc otherwise the variety gets too distracting lol
recs under the cut!! i went pop -> kpop -> punk/emo/alt
to start out w, everyone and their mom recommends chase atlantic lmao but they r just SO GOOD !! and the vibes r so sexy and give me so much angst inspo skfjdkskw
songs: slide, like a rockstar, lust, consume, i never existed. the don’t try this ep is my favorite, and i’m writing a dabihawks punk band au inspired by it!!
i also listen to the weeknd (trilogy), khalid, sza and kehlani (their latest album, it was good until it wasn’t, is a fucking masterpiece) a lot while writing!!
one of my faves is shinee, specifically jonghyun and taemin’s solo albums (ot5 until i die, but their solo music is sexy and sets the ~mood~ for writing smut lmao). i gave some jjong rec’s in the tags of this post!!
taemin songs: heaven, love and pansy hurt my heart. thirsty, criminal, famous, and sexuality are hoe songs lmao
speaking of shinee, i like other kpop as well!! bts are forever my number #1 (hyyh is one of my favorite albums ever — so bittersweet, makes me painfully nostalgic). also looove monsta x !! tomorrow x together, stray kids and ateez are also great. mamamoo r the only girl group that i like, i just can’t vibe w a lot of gg concepts skfjfjsj (although i do like a few soloists)
a lot of people stan kpop just for the idols but i do like the music a lot!!
txt: ghosting, blue hour, drama (the japanese music video is haikyuu concept lmao), our summer
monsta x: middle of the night, nobody else, gasoline (the title is in hangul so you can’t look it up specifically on streaming services, but it’s the second song on the fatal love album), last carnival, blind, my beast, turbulence (again, hangul title, but it’s track 7 on take.2 we are here)
i also recommend solo albums/mixtapes of the monsta x members!! joohoney’s psyche, i.m’s duality, and wonho’s two eps!!
and speaking of solo work, all of the bts rapline have amazing solo mixtapes. i love their group music that’s hype w heavy concepts/production/choreo (ot7 always), but the mixtapes hold a special place in my heart because they feel so ...intimate, almost? like a piece of their hearts that they’re sharing with the world. rm’s mono is the definition of comfort. j-hope’s hope world is lots of fun, but he just released the extended version of blue side, and it’s absolutely heartbreaking (and reminds me a lot of touya lol). and agust d... listen, i love him more than words can say, so his mixtapes d-2 and self-titled, along w the other song’s he’s solo produced like eight by iu, are very special to me.
i’m not majorly into skz/ateez/mamamoo like i am w the other groups, but they’re all amazing performers so i recommend checking out their comeback + awards show stages!!
i also really love eAeon, he’s a korean indie artist, and his music is breathtaking. he just dropped an album called fragile that’s i adore, the lead single don’t features rm of bts and is unbelievably beautiful.
okay that’s all good and fun but the majority of what i listen to is emo shit lmfaoo i’m definitely more into alt + punk music, here are some of my fave bands and fave songs from them!!
blood command: they are unreal i love them SO MUCH!! they’re a norwegian punk rock band w a female singer, return of the arsonist ep is when i got into them and it’s golden. no thank you i’m more into fake grindcore, saturday city, white skin/tanned teeth, and alarm all assassins are some of their best songs imo
dance gavin dance: listen... their music scratches a certain itch in my brain that makes me go insane akdjfjsk they’ve had a bunch of different lineups but the more recent albums with tillian and jon on vocals are my favorites (jonny craig can suck my dick, fuck that dude). lost, son of robot, bloodsucker, young robot, inspire the liars, jesus h. macy are all great. acceptance speech, man of the year, and evaporate make me cry/lose my mind
mannequin pussy: *chefs kiss* drunk ii is a masterpiece, i cried to that shit every day after a break up, so cathartic. cream and kiss are more upbeat, and their latest song perfect is also vv good!!! patience is a beautiful, emotional album, whereas romantic and self titled have more classic alt bops
G.L.O.S.S.: listen, theyre so fucking cool, and i respect the hell out of them. they only released a few songs before disbanding but i’ll cherish those songs until i die. they perfectly embody what punk should be. demo 2015 is on streaming services, and their second and final ep trans day of revenge can easily be found online!!
wow this is getting fucking LONG so i’ll just quickly list a few more, but this was so fun, i love talking ab music!! pls don’t be shy, i’m always down to give more recs or hear about the stuff that u like!!
movements, yonaka, shiny wet machine, real friends, skating polly, nova twins, the japanese house, bratmobile, yours truly. and, ofc, the pop punk staples: jimmy eat world, paramore, waterparks, stand atlantic, neck deep, the story so far, etc etc !!
#🌘.anon#fun fact i almost went to a mannequin pussy show w my ex#like ... after we broke up#i was rlly gonna go w him to see them play the song that made me think of him and cry my eyes out LMFAOOOO#it was. a moment of weakness . i am not that person anymore#yeah but like#the music i listen to while writing and the music i listen to in general r very different#i have to listen to more lowkey vibe music while writing#otherwise i’ll get too into it and forget what i’m supposed to be doing lmao#i’m sorry for how long this list got omfg i got carried away

MP Goes All Crafty: “Stomaching” the “Petticoat”
Hello again, guys! Just thought I’d post my latest progress, now we’ve moved beyond underwear and on to actual articles of dress you can wear on the OUTSIDE.
This is where it begins to get exciting (at least for this daft POTC-loving costume nerd.) Finally, things that actually show!
Elizabeth’s actual in-movie stomacher is masterpiece of embroidery and cut-out work. I knew my embroidery skills were nowhere close to getting such a rich look.
(Actual costume close-up - dang, look at that stuff! Pearl beading, appliques, knotwork, whitework... GAAAAH. So pretty! So un-achievable with my wobbly embroidery skills!)
Well, an old theatrical costumer trick I picked up on is “If you can’t make it, fake it.”
And whilst it’s not identical, I managed to find a nice rich gold/cream brocade online that still gives that “rich” feeling:
This was perfect, because it was a reversible brocade - and I bought enough that the underside could be the decorative central panel for my petticoat. It’s similar but not exactly the same - just like the petticoat on the original - And it made up pretty nicely:
As you can see with my mannequin, the stomacher has more gold in it, while the petticoat has a pale ivory tone, which is just the look I was going for!
I also did another cheat on the petticoat - but this is a seamstress’ cheat, and one the Georgian dressmakers absolutely took advantage of. Don’t have enough expensive fabric for a full petticoat? Eke it out with a cheaper alternative, and only make a panel for the part that will show! The Simplicity 4092 pattern utilises this really well - although I opted for the more period option of pleating the skirt to the waistband rather than gathering. Economy and bling in one package - its the 18th century way.
Next up will be the gown itself, which I am REALLY stoked for. I found a perfect damask fabric for it ...
And being the nerd I am, I just had to get it out and drape it to see how it looks, so here’s a little sneak preview...
(excuse the crappy photo quality, it was a very sunny day!)
Next time: the Gold Gown Grand Finale!

Some Musts for Artists!
As I'm typing this, it is currently midnight on April 12th during the coronavirus pandemic. We're all artists here, so let's go over a few things that we can do as like-minded people. I've been on Deviantart for nearly 6 years now. I recently started a Tumblr and a Ko-Fi to make this a fun side job. Expanding my art network and social media outlets was the name of the game throughout the years, but I thought I'd create a small journal entry or a manual somewhere midway through the process for current and newcoming artists. So, here are some tips and musts for artists that all of you can use! 1.) Practice as often as you can. - This step is pretty self-explanatory. After all, practice makes perfect. You might even unlock hidden potentials that you never thought you had before. Even if you don't feel comfortable using certain tools (e.g., the perspective ruler, mannequins, outlines), making use of them will become much easier if you ease your way into using them. For example, I've always had trouble making backgrounds while using the perspective ruler synchronously, but over time, I eased my way into using it for making settings. Now I use the perspective rulers when I'm trying to capture the essence of a room or an area outdoors. It may be hard to create characters, props, and backgrounds at first, but once you find methods you're best comfortable with, stick with your guns and flesh out your masterpieces with your own unique styles! - I also use thicker sketch lines to make characters and poses just right to accommodate my nearsightedness. I call this technique 'The XL Method.' 2.) Study and Observe from Others. - If you have a favorite show, artist, or animator you like to watch, observe how they flesh out their characters, backgrounds, settings, and stories. Using any of the listed in the last sentence as reference material is a good way to analyze the big picture and make it your own. Of course, you must remember that you're not doing this to mimic your favorite artist, but rather referring to them as a template of sorts. Don't try to stay as someone else's shadow. Your art style is created through your body and soul, not by emulating your idol. 3.) Take care of yourself. - This is probably the most important thing you must NEVER neglect as an artist and overall person. If you can't draw yet due to other responsibilities outside of being an artist, don't try to force yourself afterwards. I've personally seen artists get hounded with questions and comments like 'When's your next page coming out?', 'Finish this project up already!', and even 'I only came here for Undertale. It's the only thing that gives me life. If you stop making Undertale comics and cancel your series, I'm not gonna watch you anymore.' Every artist I follow has been pressured more than once, especially in the Undertale fandom, when they actually put a project on hold, had a desire to draw something else for a while and try new things to take a break, or had other responsibilities outside the digital realm that followers neglect to understand or just don't care about because they're so anxious to see what happens next in a story they like. With followers, some are patient and respect that the artist has other responsibilities and hobbies they'd like to attend to, and others feel like they're entitled to the next page, when really, they're not. This isn't prominent in just the Undertale fandom, but also in many others - so many in fact, that it's a hassle just to list them all. - It's important to balance your lifestyle with things you like to do. If you like to draw, by all means, do it. If you like to read, by all means, do it. If you like to hang out with friends, by all means, do it. If you like to play video games, by all means, do it. If you have to take care of yourself and put your health over everything else first, do it. Do NOT compromise! When it comes to your health and lifestyle, unless it's beneficial to you, nobody else's input matters. Your followers won't get mad at you for it, and the followers undergoing the stages of entitlement will have to shut the hell up and take a hint. You're your own person, not someone else's servant. 4.) Eat! Eat! EAAAAAAAAAAAATTT!!! - Whether it's your favorite food or something jam-packed with nutritious value, eat all the food you want to eat! No artist can operate on an empty stomach. Keep your metabolism going and grab a snack, breakfast, lunch, or dinner. You want an example? Eat popcorn or sushi. Popcorn is high in fiber and helps keep your blood sugar in check as long as you don't drench it in too much butter. I also recommended sushi in this tab too. The reason is because sushi and other types of fish are high in DHA content, which stimulates brain activity and keeps your creative juices flowing. - There are other snacks that can help you stay motivated and full. Yogurt prevents diseases and enhances digestive and weight control. Bananas are high in potassium and help maintain a healthy heart. Chips and hummus go together too! Not only is hummus a good dip filled with fiber and protein, it's also filled with antioxidants! - I can go on and on about what kind of foods you can eat as an artist, but there are too many to list! I just love food THIS much! You'll be sitting here reading this tab all day if I did, so I'll leave the examples in the previous paragraphs for you. Whether it's a snack food, breakfast, lunch, or dinner, feed your body and mind, and you'll definitely make it as an artist! 5.) If you're a comic artist making an original story or building up from someone else's idea with a fanmade comic of your own, achieve total secrecy and wow your viewers later! - Yeah, I know it's great you've finished a comic page to show to your followers, and it has them craving for more. But sometimes, someone else's desire for more pages might be a little too much. Whether you're a regular artist or a comic/fancomic artist, not only is it important to balance your lifestyle, manage your time, and decide when you want to draw an art piece or the next page to your story, but it's also important to limit the amount of desire and demand you take in. - If you don't mind giving your fans spoilers, then that's okay too. But sometimes, achieving complete radio silence and being exclusive helps you get the most work done. - For example, a clothes designer named Geoffrey B. Small utilized a marketing strategy in which he made his clothing line limited and exclusive to shoppers. He doesn't want you to find his clothing. Even more so, he's not interested in being available to everybody. This makes his clothing unique and valuable to the eye of the beholder. If his clothes were found by literally everyone, it would disappoint him and jeopardize the overall exclusivity and value of his products. If your someone who doesn't want anyone to know that you're working on an art piece or a batch of comic pages that's gonna gobsmack your fans, pull a Geoffrey B. Small-esque move and don't leak any info whatsoever. - But IF you must inform your fans your project is still up and running, leave a subtle hint or a W.I.P thumbnail behind. That'll suffice. Keep your fans guessing, even if it means making them succumb to their anxiety or neediness for updates. - Limit any questions or comments you want to take in until you feel ready to reveal your big guns. You decide when you'll work on your art on your OWN terms. 6.) Allow yourself to imagine and enjoy your creative mind going wild before fleshing it out on your tablet or on paper. - Creativity is what makes literally anything in the world come to life! That's how we have the technology, video games, buildings, and other necessities in our generation today. For us artists, our most creative tool is the brain. The brain is the center of all human activity and thought. It's what allows us to imagine what happens next in our stories before we physically flesh them out on our drawing tablets or on paper. I always use my brain to generate a thought in my head that's so powerful, when I close my eyes or flesh it out every second, I can see a glimpse of it playing in my head like a roll of film filled to the brim with moving images for a movie. - It's also beneficial to write out a script, and even pretend you're a character in the story you want to create. - Flesh out your thoughts, play the track over and over again, add more thoughts, put a few funny moments into the mix, and BAM!! You've got an idea! Of course, you must also understand that unless the thought is something long-term you want to remember, you might forget some parts of your idea at first. Some ideas might be some you'll totally dislike later, and that's okay. There's always room for re-imagination and improvement. - Also take to heart that you shouldn't let your creative thoughts take over your real-life responsibilities. Those come first! - Overall, it's important to imagine and have fun going wild before physically bringing your thoughts into being. Let the creativity flow naturally. 7.) Understand you're not perfect, and neither are others. - In the wise words of Mayuri Kurotsuchi from BLEACH, 'Nothing perfect exists.' - 'If something is truly perfect, that's it. The bottom line becomes, there is no room for imagination, no space for intelligence, or ability, or improvement.' - 'Perfection is a dead end, a condition of hopelessness. Always strive to become better than everyone who came before you, but not perfect.' - You need to understand no artist or average working person in the world is perfect. Nobody is better or worse than anyone else. If you start to develop an egotistical sense of perfectionism, stop. You're not Picasso or Van Gogh. You're not better than anyone else. Neither am I. Everyone has their own ways of creating things or getting through the harsh reality of the real world. - The only thing we are is a small part of a bigger picture. We're all here to fill the gaps that plague the digital realm and society as it is today. 8.) Enjoy every minute. - The last thing an artist, viewer, average kid, and/or working adult needs to know is that if you enjoy doing something, it's worth enjoying all the way no matter what anybody else says. Have a good time. Don't let anyone take your modes of enjoyment away from you. Because at the end of the day, everything that lives is designed to end. We don't know when the time will come where we won't or can't enjoy what we love to do today anymore. So take your life and hobbies, make them the most enjoyable and memorable moments of your life, and never let them go! As an artist and overall human being, I care about my own well-being. Hell, I even care about the well-being of strangers and passersby on Deviantart, Tumblr, Ko-Fi, and real life. As such, I feel it's important to share my words of wisdom so you can read, listen, and make them your own. So remember to not only enjoy art or any other hobby or career you wish to pursue, but to never stop growing. The growth and development of the normal human being is a neverending journey, and it's one worth living well. Thank you for reading, and take care of yourselves. Stay determined, where and whoever you are... See you soon... Your friendly stranger and creative thinker, DecimaDragonoid

I wrote another fic!!
Title: The Color Yellow
Fandom: Miraculous Ladybug (again... what can I say, I’m obsessed lol)
Word Count: 1,710
Summary: That moment in Collector when Adrien sees his broken childhood drawing on the ground. Flashbacks ensue.
AN: The moment that this fic is based off of is an important moment that’s kind of overlooked. It’s not particularly memorable, in and of itself, but I kept thinking that there was probably a story behind that, and well... here it is. Also I wrote most of this after midnight so it might not be super refined but ideas don’t stop till you write them all out lol.
Keep reading under the cut (or read it on AO3)
He couldn’t move.
He was six years old, gap-toothed and slightly cross-eyed, with more colors of crayon at his disposal than he could ever dream of.
Well. Maybe that wasn’t quite true. Maybe he could move. More like he wasn’t willing to try.
But he’d only needed four colors that day. The classics.
The house was empty. His father was gone, off to who knew where. To the basement, to his room. It didn’t matter where. Adrien could never tell the difference.
Red. Green. Blue. Yellow.
He tried to remind himself what he was doing here--they were trying to stop something horrible from happening. They were searching for Hawkmoth.
He’d had plenty of practice coloring with the classic four. He knew them well, from evenings in restaurants where he always scribbled furiously on the kids’ menu. He never went inside the lines, always drew his own thing. And he’d show his parents his masterpiece every time, once the night was over.
Hawkmoth, who at the moment was still at large, who Ladybug thought she had finally pinned down.
Every time, Gabriel Agreste would dismiss whatever work it was, and every single time, Emilie would smile down at Adrien and compliment it. She’d ask him to describe it and suggest areas for improvement, like adding binoculars so the people in the picture could see better, or putting in another bird so the first one could have a friend.
Hawkmoth, who might be his father.
And then, later, to Gabriel, when she thought Adrien couldn’t hear: “Leave him alone. He’s got a creative spirit, Gabe. He’s got it inside him. You’re the only one who doesn’t see it.”
The whole room was trashed. Mannequins smashed, ceramic vases hurled off of shelves, panes of glass lying shattered on the floor. Photographs in frames that sported spiderweb cracks littered the edges of the room.
Adrien knew artists were hard on themselves. He knew they got in their own heads. He knew they drove themselves crazy from the inside out.
But he had done this.
This would be his biggest masterpiece, his museum debut. ‘Six years old and already making history,’ his mother would say theatrically, grinning and tickling him until his stomach hurt from laughing.
And his father would look at the drawing and smile, a real one, one of those lopsided, carefree grins that he only sported in old photographs. ‘I’m proud of you,’ he’d say.
Adrien had driven his father insane. From the outside in.
He worked quickly, a six-year-old man on a mission, tongue poking through the space where he had recently lost his front tooth. There was still a slightly bloody stump from where his gums hadn’t quite healed, and it made the tip of his tongue taste like salt every time he touched it.
It was all because of that stupid book.
He sketched it out with a pencil first. The mountain peaks in the back. The roundness of his father’s glasses, the twist of his mother’s hair. Adrien came out quite a bit taller than he really was, compared to them, but no matter. It didn’t have to be realistic, not really. It just had to be visible.
Adrien could almost see his father in the room, walking around and smashing things. Picking mannequins up over his head and throwing them down onto their sides so they cracked. Kicking vases. Perhaps ranting to Nathalie.
He had to ask Nathalie to show him his mother’s best dress so he could get the pattern right. It was strange, little swirls and clouds and dots all working together. Nathalie had obliged, holding up the gown for him as he sat with his legs crossed on the floor of his mother’s closet, his small hands weaving the spots and swirls on the page. On the way back to the long dining room table that was doubling as his great workspace, Nathalie had asked about the drawing.
“It’s for Mom and Dad,” Adrien had whispered, looking around as if his parents were going to pop out of a corner at any moment. “But it’s a secret. Don’t tell.”
Nathalie nodded dutifully, and the corner of her mouth twitched up. She’d winked at him.
He’d winked, clumsily, back.
Adrien could see his father. Unleashing a tornado on his office, his face red and his lips pressed tight with anger. Picking Adrien’s drawing up and flinging it across the room with such gusto that it shattered on impact.
Blue for his pants, red for his father’s pants, green for the grass beneath their feet, and little accents all over his mother’s dress...
Adrien’s heart was in his throat. He’d done this.
And layers and layers of yellow, waves of blond hair.
He, Adrien Agreste, had done this. He might as well have just broken all of the things himself.
He’d finished the masterpiece with a dripping yellow sun, a bright misshapen oval hanging above his mother’s head. It shone down on the three of them, all proudly wearing wide grins, holding each other’s hands.
It was because of him and Plagg and that stupid book…
When he finished, he’d first shown it to Nathalie. She rarely ever smiled, but she did that day. A full smile, teeth included, accompanied by a professional nod. “I’m sure they’ll love it.”
There was emotion clouded in her voice when she spoke. He didn’t understand it then.
It was all because of him.
They’d eaten dinner together that evening, the three of them and Nathalie. It was Adrien’s favorite, spaghetti and meatballs, the ones that his mother made just right. Emilie told everyone a story of when she and Gabriel were young, and it was the first time Adrien had ever heard Nathalie laugh out loud. Adrien and his mother both laughed so hard they had to stop eating. How Adrien loved his mother’s laugh--when Emilie was laughing, she became the color yellow, sunny and bright and wildly contagious.
And it was working on everybody. They had all caught a case of the Emilies. Adrien could’ve even sworn up and down that he saw his father smile.
God. He wanted to turn back time so badly. He wanted a second chance, a third chance, a million more chances.
After dinner, when all of the dishes were packed away, Nathalie had gathered his parents in the living room and set the stage, and Adrien had emerged brandishing his drawing. He handed it to his mother first, and she was silent for several seconds, taking it in.
“Well?” he’d asked. “Is it okay?”
She’d put a hand to her mouth, which Adrien thought was a bad sign, but then she spoke, so softly it was almost a whisper. “Wow. This is… wonderful.”
She put a finger to the page. “That’s me, right? And that’s your father?”
Adrien had nodded, almost like a bobblehead, wild green eyes wide in his face and gap-toothed mouth grinning.
“And there, that’s you… this is beautiful. Look, Gabe.”
She’d handed his father the drawing, and Adrien’s breath caught.
Gabriel Agreste had surveyed the doodle once, twice, taking in every line, every color.
And he must have still been carrying a case of the Emilies, because he nodded in approval, so subtly it could have been an accident.
It was just like that. No critiques, nothing. Quick and painless.
Adrien turned back to Nathalie, and she, too, must still have been afflicted with the Emilies, because she winked at him for the second time that day. He’d winked back, and it filled him with gold.
“This is beautiful,” Emilie had repeated, “but I think it’s missing something, don’t you?”
“What?” Adrien had asked.
She’d reached out an arm to draw him into her lap. “You’re an artist,” she’d said, tapping his nose. “It needs a signature.”
Gabriel produced a pen from his coat, and Emilie handed it to her son, her eyes filled to the brim with a kind of wild excitement. Adrien had taken the pen, but he’d hesitated, hand hovering over the page.
“Go on,” Emilie had encouraged, smiling so wide she was almost glowing. “Sign it.”
So he had, in blocky kindergarten handwriting, in the deep black ink of the pen. He’d marveled at his own name, at the six letters beaming up at him from the page. They claimed the drawing as his own, a declaration that Adrien Agreste made this masterpiece with his own two hands, determination, inspiration, and four different colors of crayon, all sitting loud and proud on the paper.
It told the world that he was here.
Emilie had picked her son up and swung him around until he started to laugh, and then she had brought him into her arms. He had clung to the fabric of her shirt, the satin and cotton and his mother’s skin, a smell that he swore he’d never forget.
“It’s perfect,” she had whispered.
Adrien wanted to pick the drawing up, piece together the shards of glass into one pane again like time had never touched them. He longed to fix it, reverse it, go back. He wanted, he wanted, he wanted. He felt like his skin might shatter with the pain of wanting. Something had seized him around the heart, and it was collapsing him.
He was driving himself insane. From the inside out.
Like father, like son.
When Ladybug next spoke, it nearly scared him out of his wits--he could have been standing there seconds or hours or days. She looked at him sideways, coated with concern. “Are you sure you’re okay?”
He closed his eyes so his mother and his father and six-year-old self disappeared, and he could see the splash of colors and blocky signature and shattered glass no more. He forced himself away, and the memories all left him alone, one by one--his father’s hidden smile, Nathalie’s laugh, that feeling of wonder that filled him when he signed his name.
The color yellow was the last to go, lingering in his eyelids for a few final seconds. A shock of blond hair and a feeling of warmth and a golden sun, dripping light onto him and his parents like a promise.
He opened his eyes and turned away. “Yeah. Yeah, let’s keep going.”

lululawrence’s April 2019 Fic List
Click here for previous months’ fic lists
Guess who’s back, back again... I actually wrote that when I drafted this post a month ago and I’m keeping it cause it’s funny ahhaha So this month has been a ride, hasn’t it? I’ve read some amazing fic though, so I’m super excited to talk about it with you! I read quite a few from the Shake Off the Dust collection as well as fics from the beginning of round 2 of @onedirectionbigbang and other various things as I tried and failed to keep up with all the new fic coming out haha We are so blessed to have so much amazing fic. So, without further ado, here are the fics I read and loved this month!
Hazy by @nikogda / nikogda This fic was written for me because I was anxious one day and they saw a post referring to it and they wrote this as a soothing fic for me and lemme tell ya, IT WORKED. It was so soft and... well... hazy. haha I loved it. A great fic to come back to on a rough day, for sure!
Keep Your Hands Up, So I Can See by @goodmorningtoyouuniverse / GMTYUniverse This fic was such a great HP AU! It was enemies to lovers with a touch of misunderstanding and frustrations and just all the good things with cameos by some of our favorite characters from the original series! I loved it very much a lot. It threw me into the world and made me smile quite a bit.
it's in his kiss by @disgruntledkittenface / disgruntledkittenface This is where Maggie took what she wrote through requests on ask and posted them to ao3 for the kiss meme and lemme tell ya! There’s some ships she wrote that I never felt a desire for, and she wrote them so perfectly that I almost started shipping them hahahaa Each chapter is it’s own little world and it pulled me in so entirely that they felt like full fics! How does she do that in such few words? I dunno. But they’re all glorious. Every last one. Defo a great read when things are hard too, i’d read a chapter when I had a moment and it made my busy, stressful days so much better.
Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now by @allwaswell16 / allwaswell16 I think this one was written for the short fic fest, and I loved it so so much! She describes Harry’s movements as “giraffing about” or something like that and I will never stop laughing about that. Add to it that Harry in the fic legit thought Louis was a mannequin and I just DIE. It’s amazing. Such a silly, fun fic!
Soju (소주) by @gettingaphdinmomo / gettingaphdinlarry This is a Shiall fic that just drew me in. It has such a visual and atmospheric pull to it, like all of her fics do, and it makes you almost feel as if you’re somehow there. I dunno how she does it, but her magic is worked for sure with this fic and I had to just sit there, and process when it ended. A fun, short fic to easily get lost in.
Just Go With It by @rainbowsandlovehl / rainbowslovehl (Larrymateforlife) This fic!!!! Meet Cute heaven! It was light and fluffy and awkward and silly and I loved it so much and for real this Brett character was TOO MUCH. hahahahaha With the added fun of the little jokes like talk of organic guacamole etc and I loved it so much. It was the smile I needed.
All I Want Is To Fall With You by @2tiedships2 / 2tiedships2 Mel keeps posting fics that are so fun! How does she do it? This time the crew takes on a ski trip and Louis has to deal with stupid alphas staying in the same cabin without knowing about it beforehand and of course nothing goes to plan! That’s half the fun, though, right? Besides. The alphas aren’t that bad. haha
Do You Wanna Ride by @phd-mama / phdmama She wrote this fic for @justalittlelouislove and I screamed reading it the whole time. I took so long reading it because I kept stopping to scream and share how uncomfortable I was over the obvious awkwardness and sexual tension and it was just SO SO SO GOOD. The embarrassment just gahhhhhhh I loved it.
Strawberries & Cigarettes by @dimpled-halo / dimpled_halo A year later I FINALLY read this and I loved it as much as I knew I would. I wanted pain, and it gave it to me! It gave me pain and healing and a gorgeous story. It was such a great read, I’m so so happy I finally had the time to dedicate to it because it was just. So much of everything I love.
Let It Down by @red--special / red_special This fic has also been on my to read list for ages and I am also so so happy I got to read it finally! It was such a great fic and so much fun and so sexy and funny and awkward and I wanted to bask in it a little longer. It was so so good. hahahaha I keep thinking about the tattoo and I can’t stop giggling. Just do yourself a favor and read this fic. haha
Like A Siren In The Night by @crazyupsetter / whoknows This is an a/b/o fic that I could not get enough of or read fast enough. It’s historical, though that doesn’t play a major role, and the playing with the world building was SO MUCH FUN to read. The way their relationship developed as well was just DELICIOUS. I loved every second of it.
please forgive me if my lips quake by @disgruntledkittenface / disgruntledkittenface Girl direction! With a cat! I was heart eyes the entire fic and once again, such feeling was evoked in it that I wanted to just sit and enjoy it for awhile longer. Sigh. What pure enjoyment! I loved it.
I was the King (tonight let it go) by @sadaveniren / SadaVeniren I... Okay listen. lollll I didn’t write this obviously, but it felt like such a self indulgent read I almost wished I had? If that makes sense? It was everything I love. I LOVE the emotional side and thought behind BDSM. Like, that’s most of what makes it so so so interesting and fascinating for me to read, and Sada gave that to us with this fic in DROVES as well as the fighting against natural inclinations etc etc etc. It was just a fab fic and I loved so so so much of it.
Failure to Launch by @all-these-larrythings / Rearviewdreamer Michelle has a way of taking things I don’t know about and making me love them so so so much. This film was one that many I knew loved and I felt mainly meh about it, but I knew if Michelle wrote it I would love it, and I WAS RIGHT. She took all the things I was not fond of in the original and twisted them so it still referenced the original source, but made it so much better. I loved it so so so much because it was so very much like the original film, but also very much her own.
Come Home to Me by @pocketsunshineharry / ishiplouis I wanted pain, and pain was what I got. I cried and I kept waiting and waiting for things to come together again and they finally did! But WOW the pain leading up to that! It was amazing how much was harnessed in it. I will say, please beware the tags. Some heavy topics are handled in the fic - including some depression/anxiety etc - so please be safe with that. A great read, though!
fondre ton absence by @scrunchyharry / scrunchyharry OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG I just. I’m a sucker for WWI and WWII period anything. It’s one of my favorite periods in history for the social, political, militaristic, just EVERYTHING historically. I find it fascinating and I adore it. I was both excited and wary how this would go then, knowing how much I love it. Well. I cried the entire way through and was in awe of how the time period and everything was handled. It’s an amnesia friends to lovers wartime period-typical homophobia acknowledging fic which basically means it is my dream fic. I cannot rave about it enough, much less the incredible art that was done by @whenthebodiesspeak!!! It was STUNNING and yeah. Just. Amazing. A masterpiece.
An Unbalanced Force by @kingsofeverything / FullOnLarrie MAROLD HAROLD with art by @goodmorningtoyouuniverse! I cried a few times during this one and it was such a realistic and beautiful and comprehensive view of a relationship, of adulthood, of trying to find love again after, just... all of it. It is a study of flawed individuals trying to make do and learning where their lines are and it is gorgeous. I loved it so so so much and I keep randomly thinking about it. A great fic and worth the wait and teasing she gave us over the months! hahahaha
That's What I'm Here For by @taggiecb / taggiecb ANOTHER DREAM FIC, ANOTHER FIC THAT MADE ME CRY! I cannot rave enough about how this big bang has kicked off, like, I just truly cannot. @noellehenry did a gorgeous moodboard for it as well, and I just. Demisexual farmer Louis who has been on his own for so long he just. Hardly knows how to be social anymore and Harry has to come and teach him and I’m about to give away spoilers so I’ll stop but this fic is so close to my heart, okay? I love love love love love it.
To Carry Onward by @londonfoginacup / LadyLondonderry THIS LITTLE FIC!!! I keep yelling, I know. Sorry not sorry. But for real it’s 500 words and just...so full of love and longing and mystery and hope and I cannot. I love Emmu’s words and worlds and this is no exception.
A Spell and A Spark by @dinosaursmate / dinosaursmate It’s out in the world! This fic was everything I needed when I read it. I was having a really rough time, and I would get to the end of those days and get to read this fic and it soothed me, cheered me, and took me away to another world. It was so much fun and just pure joy to read. And then the art that @londonfoginacup made for it! It was such a great combo of writing and art. Another wonderful fic for big bang!
{insert acclaimed artist} was never even in love anyway by underthesunlight This is the first of several fics I read from the Shake Off the Dust collection and it was such a fun read. It was domestic and silly and soft and it made me smile.
Primtemps by @londonfoginacup / LadyLondonderry She’s just so good, isn’t she? I finished this fic and almost immediately went back to the beginning because I wanted to read it again. It’s so soft and you could almost SMELL what she was describing. It was a perfect read of a perfect day and it made me long for the days in the past that I’d had like it. Glorious.
Taking Care of You (Is My Favorite Thing) by @allthelarrylovex / cherrylarry Niam! Not usually my pairing of choice, but I loved it so much. I also very much identified with the shitty allergies aspect of it as I am dealing with that myself at the moment, so it just had me sitting there nodding like IT REALLY DOES SUCK BABES I GET IT hahaha
You Keep Me Warm by @crinkle-eyed-boo / crinkle-eyed-boo (KimmieRocks) I’ve not read Own the Scars yet, but I still read this despite it being a time stamp, and I’m so glad I did. I loved it and it made me smile. It also made me want to read the original, so I can’t wait until I have a chance to!
Love's Gentle Spring by @laynefaire / Layne Faire (HisDarlin) This is also a continuation! It’s a fun addition to her spring drabbles from last year, which are not necessary to read in order to enjoy this, though it does add to the fun hahaha I loved that little series so much and was very very glad she made this addition!
Housewives of Our Lives by @homosociallyyours / homosociallyyours I’ve never watched any of the housewives shows, but that didn’t matter. As usual Megan wrote a fic that had me wanting to be their friend and hang out with them as they did these ridiculous things because it sounded like such fun. I loved it as well.
A Larry Limerick by @kingsofeverything / FullOnLarrie I know this was mostly silly and to be funny, but I enjoyed it so I’m including it here hahaha
sun, here it comes by @louandhazaf / YesIsAWorld and It's been a long, cold, lonely winter by @kingsofeverything / FullOnLarrie I’m putting both of them here, because if you haven’t read them yet you should. They are two sides of the same story, and I fully recommend you read them in the order I listed them too haha I did and it was wonderful and delightful and basically all things good. SO much fun.
just me, him, and the moon by HazHas4Nips This was cuuuuuuute! I don’t even know what more to say, I just keep sitting here and smiling thinking about it. So I guess if you want a fic that makes you smile, this is a great little one.
Spring Break by @allwaswell16 / allwaswell16 This fic came out of a partially true story and it was so much fun to finally be able to read what Anitra did with it haha I was giggling and loving it so so much the entire way. As usual. Can’t go wrong.
What's Mine is Yours by @uhohmorshedios / yeah_alright This fic is listed as a Narry fic, and it is, but it’s Narry friendship which made me giggle so so so much! hahaha It was so funny and the way Harry was described and Niall’s just...almost annoyance? I can’t even explain. It’s so much fun.
Latching Onto You by @reminiscingintherain / reminiscingintherain This fic is pure fluff. Fluff and silliness and all things sweet and good. I was trying to find the best way to describe it and the first thing that came to mind was it was a bowl of sweet dessert and I finally realized it’s a parfait. It’s got layers, but all of it is sweet and soft and yummy. hahaha SO if that sounds like something amazing in a fic, then you defo wanna give this a read!
Face Your Fears by @sadaveniren / SadaVeniren I’ll be honest, I finished this one around 2 am after a very long day and had to wake up too early again this morning, so I still haven’t fully computed this fic lollll Just know the pain is real, it is glorious, the journey the characters all take and the way Harry and Louis’ relationship grows is so incredible, I just... this fic is everything I’ve wanted in an a/b/o since I started reading a/b/o almost five years ago haha
And that’s my very long fic list from this month! I hope you enjoy them as much as I did if you give them a try. And please remember to leave nice comments and kudos for the authors who work so hard to gift us with these stories! Happy reading :D

Halloween Horror Nights Orlando 2019 Review
By Grant Duval
Every year, and fortunately for us horror fans, earlier every year, Orlando is treated to Universal's Halloween Horror Nights. Every year it seems to outdo itself, and this year was no exception. This is a welcome change of pace from other Halloween celebrations in the area which seem to be the same thing every year. Every house this year was different and exciting from previous years. Even the one haunt that had been done last year was a complete change. Also, this whole event was themed to the 1980's, which I absolutely love as a child of the 80's. Unfortunately, these haunts don't allow photography, so I wasn't able to get nearly as many photos as I would have liked, but trust me, these houses are all intricately decorated and most are worth your time.
I'd like to preface this with the fact that I bought the front of line pass for an additional $80. This allows front of the line access to all mazes, but there is a line for front of the line, and you can expect to wait at least 10 minutes with the front of the line versus the hour plus waits that were occurring. You also get front of the line access to many rides. There are also 2 shows. With this pass we were able to get to one show, two rides, and all 10 mazes with only 30 minutes less. This is a testament to how invaluable this pass is, as I would have never made my way to all the mazes had I not bought this. I suppose the easiest way for me to do this is to go through each item one by one and give my thoughts.
Stranger Things was the most popular haunt of the night, and for good reason. This maze went through each season and brought to life the greatest moments of the whole series. The set design, especially in the upside-down, was top notch. This also felt like the longest of all the mazes. The characters were all cast well and it was great seeing them all battle the forces of darkness. Side note, at Voodoo Donuts you can purchase a delicious Stranger Things donut before entering the park to really set the mood. Also, there is an extremely large animatronic you must walk under to escape which is very convincing. The scare level was a medium or so, but the set design was amazing. 9 out of 10.
Us was the next maze of the night. I was never a fan of the movie as I felt that the trailers gave away everything. My mom, who was my traveling companion, had never seen it. This was one of her favorite mazes of the night. Entering through the funhouse in the movie sets everyone up for being chased by the doppelgängers and their scissors from the Jordan Peele movie. The lab scene with all of the rabbits was neat, and the exit which involved going through a bunch of mannequins mixed with scare actors was a great touch. The big problem though is that you really have to be acquainted with the movie in order to fully understand what was going on. My mom had lots of questions, and as I only saw the movie once when it came out, I didn't remember everything. Scares are high in this one. 7 out of 10.
Universal Monsters exists almost as preparation for the highly rumored land in Universal's Epic Universe park which is being built. Characters from classic horror movies, such as Dracula, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, Frankenstein's Monster, the Wolfman, Bride of Frankenstein, and the Mummy reside here. Strangely there was a part with Quasimodo, and that felt unnecessary as the whole point of The Hunchback of Notre Dame was not to be scared of him (actually, that was the point of Frankenstein as well). The sets were nice, but it felt kind of disjointed as we went from one character to another with no real transition. This maze also felt short. Scares were medium level but the high quality of the sets made up for it. 6 out of 10.
Ghostbusters was easily the most hyped of all of the mazes. This maze featured all of your favorite characters from the original Ghostbusters movie, and the sets were so realistic it felt like we were in the middle of it. The haunt follows the same path as the movie, from the library to the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man battle. The character actors looked just like the original actors. Every last detail was perfect. The Slimer puppet that came out in a few scenes was a nice touch, as were the Zool puppets that stalked us. Overall, I wanted to remain inside as long as possible but was disappointed that Ghostbusters 2 was ignored as I do love Viggo the Carpathian. The scare factor is low, in fact this would be a great first haunt for those who are unsure if they would like this. This one gets a 10 out of 10 though from scratching my nostalgia itch.
Killer Klowns from Outer Space was hands down the most fun maze. This movie was a staple of my childhood as I used to watch it weekly. This is another maze that moved scene by scene and took us into the alien Klown world. All of my favorite Klowns from the movie were in there, as were the characters. The soundtrack of the movie, which by the way is KILLER, blasts through the whole maze. This was my absolute favorite haunt and I may return just to do this one a few more times. The scare factor is medium, but this is more of a funny house than scary house. 10 out of 10.
House of 1000 corpses was my most hated house of the night. I could never get into the movie series, and I understand that there are many people who absolutely love it. The maze felt short, the set design felt the weakest, and strangely, it was in the same spot as my most hated house 2 years ago, which was the Horrors of Blumhouse maze. Maybe the spot is cursed. It had that awful haunted house smoke smell. Also the characters weren't really too scary and the spots where they were coming to scare us at were obvious. I didn't jump once. Granted, as a person who is not a fan of the movie, I am likely not the best one to review this one. Scare factor was low (but the gross out factor was high). 3 out of 10 (but likely someone who was a fan will love this).
Depths of Fear is another original house. I find that Universal does great things with original houses and this one is no exception. The gimmick of this one is that we are on a submarine about to detonate with creatures inside and we have to find our way out. This one has a constant loud beeping which gradually gets faster and faster adding to the tension. This reminded me of the movie Leviathan. The set design was purposefully claustrophobic and the fear level was intense. The only problem was that the creatures themselves weren't too scary. The scare factor would be a medium. 7 out of 10 for great set design, but way too short.
Graveyard Games wins the award for most boring idea. Teens enter a graveyard and vandalize it causing the spirits and zombies to rise to wreak havoc upon the vandals. There was a social media aspect as the teenagers have been sending videos of this to their friends. The sets were amazing which made up for the pretty played out idea of zombies. The scares were good and the effects were good, which elevated this maze beyond what I thought would be the worst maze of the night. This maze is intense and is a joy to walk around. The biggest problem is that the maze was really short. 8 out of 10.
Nightingales Blood Pit was the most original idea. I didn't know how a gladiator themed haunt would work, and boy does it ever. Dismembered limbs, animatronic lions, and buckets of blood make this one of the true masterpieces of the whole event. This felt like I was walking in an actual gladiator coliseum and couldn't get enough of it. This is a bloody good time and the scare factor is huge. 10 out of 10.
Yeti: Terror of the Yukon, is by far the best themed and scariest house of the entire event. You enter through a snowstorm and enter a very realistic cabin. You wind your way in and out of it and the temperature is kept at a very cold level to really sell the idea. The yeti itself is absolutely terrifying. My mom claims to have never screamed so much in her life. Exiting the cabin you enter a forest and it felt like I was walking through the ET adventure queue. The scares come from above as well which really intensified the whole experience. Hands down my mom's favorite as well as my second favorite maze (but likely my favorite if I removed my nostalgia). Yeti is long, intense, and takes no prisoners. Scare level extremely high, set design extremely high. 10 out of 10.
Completing the mazes I need to talk about the scare zones. The scare zones were the weakest aspect of the whole event and they felt shorter than prior years. The Vikings Undead area had some cool costuming and viking tools. The only problem was that it was too foggy to really see anything. Zombieland Double Tap didn't connect with me at all. I loved the first movie, but the scares were not there and it seemed like they went a little light on the theming. Rob Zombie's Hellbilly deluxe is one of the two strongest scare zones, but definitely not the one to take kids to, as there are several dancing girls in underwear high above everyone dancing with fire. This is also a very loud area as Rob's music is blasting. The scare actors were also some of the best in park. The Anarch-ade, themed to 1980's arcades, was the weakest of all scare zones. The arcade machines themselves were nicely done, but the area was so small that it was hard to get a feel for it. This is also the scare zone you first enter into, which sets everyone up for the 80's theme. The best one though was the Vanity Ball area, which also happened to be the longest of all the scare zones. This area was themed to fashion shows with a ghoulish twist. The scare actors were incredibly disturbing looking, and the fashion show was fun to watch. I could have spent an hour here.
I sadly didn't have time to see the Academy of Villains: Altered States Show, which is dance and fire based from what I understand. What I did see was the Marathon of Mayhem show, which is a water projection show with projection mapping on the buildings behind it. This is much better than their normal night show, and hearing all of the songs such as Killer Klowns and Ghostbuster blasted loudly was incredible. I cannot explain how amazing this show is. The fountains shoot very high, the lasers are neat, and the scenes on multiple screens gave us so much to look at I'm sure I missed a lot. This show is one of the must dos. 10 out of 10.
Overall, the 2019 edition of Halloween Horror Nights is a marvel. I loved it so much I intend on returning! From scary houses, rides with shorter lines, fun drinks, and a killer fountain show, this is truly the best version I've been to.
Creepy factor- 10 out of 10. Come on, did you really think Halloween HORROR Nights would get a lower score than that?

so ye i wanted to talk real quick about my thoughts on the live action movie before i ollie out for the night. spoilers ahead and rampant caps lock ahead!!
first off i feel like it moved wayyy too fast, but i guess it can’t be helped. they had to hit so many plot points within the span of a little over 2 hours so what can ya do? plus i imagine their thinking was most people coming into the movie are fans who already know the basic plot---but if you had someone come in who knows NOTHING about the series everything would be complete gibberish
also overall i thought the acting was pretty decent from everyone. not amazing, but i keep in mind that it’s a movie based on a shounen anime, so of course some of it is going to be a little over-the-top animated.
b u t i do love that some of the scenes had that 03 vibe. like when tucker was getting the shit punched out of him felt like a play-by-play, and some of the bits with marcoh (and i feel like there were a couple other things but i’d have to rewatch). and as a 03 fan, at this point, i take what i can get :/
but uuuuuh the aesthetic as a whole?? DID ANYONE ELSE GET THE H.ARRY P.OTTER VIBE????????? PLEASE TELL ME OTHER PEOPLE SAW IT. WITH THE MUSIC?? AND THE TRAINS?????? ed isn’t a state alchemist he actually went to fuckin hogwarts
i liked ed pretty well but??? his jacket was the real star of the movie b y e
i loved al’s armor like holy shit, it was obviously cg but it just...... worked well enough to fit the aesthetic. very shiny but still distressed enough to make it semi-realistic
so.......... i love winry?? she was so cute????? AND ADORABLE???? and her interactions with ed were so incredibly cute and sincere, and their relationship didn’t feel forced
i liked roy okay?? like his wig was atrocious but it seemed like it settled a little as the movie went on until it was tolerable. HOWEVER!!! no revolutionary hat wtf :’(
and we needed more riza. like she was alright from what we had but she lacked... flavor
HOWEVER THOSE UNIFORMS WERE HELLA FLY *thumbs up emojisss* they looked like actual uniforms instead of cheap cosplays and THEY FIXED THE BUTT CAPES!!!!!!!!
.......................but i love hughes the most holy shit how could they do this to me he was TOO PERFECT AND THE FACT ENVY USED ROY’S IMAGE TO FUCK HIM UP WAS?????????? y’all i c a n n o t
also i wish we could have gotten a little more out of lust’s very 03 semi-ish heel-face turn, like where they played up her Bad Bitchness and then she was like “I get to die............. like a human” which??? made me sad but I wished it could have been prefaced WAY earlier
and envy is just a bored teen i really don’t have much else to say about that XD
gluttony??? we needed more vore. where was the vore
but with tucker, i was kinda excited that they were going to let him live BUT!!! not because i like him, but because he’s a character that has so much potential, hence why I LOVE HOW HE BECAME A CHIMERA IN 03!!!! THAT WAS SO FUCKED BUT AWESOME???????? ultimaaately, however, i was very underwhelmed with the direction they took and my interest in that subplot sorta... petered out :/
and fuck hakuro i actually kinda found him endearing which is why i knew he would turn evil
and mannequin soldiers = glossy boys
overall like??? 3/5, entertaining and worth a watch but don’t expect an utter masterpiece of cinema
things i want for the sequel:
more ishbal, pls give me scar.
greed greed greed greed G R E E D, but......... he has to be hot. and his shield has to be bang-worthy. if he ain’t i’m not buyin’
maybe even kimbley/kimblee. i already know that we’ll be getting mangahood version without a doubt (unless they follow up some more on those 03 shout-outs), but i’m still interested to see what they would do with him
XING SQUAD!!! i may love 03 above all else but ling has DEF grown on me
..........................terminarcher. it won’t happen, but we can dream
anyway ye there we are! :>

Tango on the Campania (Ishikawa run) Review
This is a fan review of the Ishikawa run of Musical Kuroshitsuji: Tango on the Campania (TotC), for both 3rd February (setsubun special) and 4th February shows. I also had a glorious close-up view of Ciel and Sebastian when they appeared behind my seat. SO READ ON TO FIND OUT MORE!
ABOUT ME
I have been watching Kuromyu ever since the first musical. I am glad to be able to finally watch it live in person after all these years. I am also a huge musical nerd, and am musically and dance trained. I also live in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, right now.
I attended the opening show on Saturday and the closing show on Sunday! Super happy to be part of the special setsubun celebration during the curtain call, and I’ll share more later in this review. My seats were on row 10 (Saturday) and row 18 (sunday), so I am pretty close to the stage!
This review will not contain huge spoilers or a full summary of the entire plot, so you can go ahead and continue reading without dying from spoilers.
OVERALL THOUGHTS
IT. WAS. AMAZING! I was pretty bummed about the circus version last year because the music was just...bad. Pretty sure their entire budget went into the costumes and acrobatics department instead of music
For TotC, It is pretty fast paced but it has the key stuff from the Campania arc! The set is beautiful, the Bizarre Dolls were great, dance choreography marvellous as usual. Kudos to the supporting cast! There was no bad singing at all (unlike in Noah’s Ark Circus). You’ll tear up at the sad parts and you’ll get chills at the scary parts and great singing! It’s THAT good!
There are some slight changes in the Saturday and Sunday ad-libbed parts, in consideration to fans who attended both days. Bless them! <3
MUSIC & SONGS
The music in TotC was so good! But of course, it cannot beat the masterpiece of Lycoris featuring our vocal prowess Akane Liv. Yuta Furukawa (Sebastian) was so good, and his songs really show off his vocal talent.
My favourite song is ‘私は執事、あなたは伯爵’ (I am a butler and you are an Earl), especially Part 2 reprise of this song when Sebastian sings about Ciel’s soul after realising his little Master isn’t content with just being an Earl and wants revenge. The lyrics then changed to ‘I am a demon butler and you are a fake Earl’. So so SO GOOD!!
The other side characters had very nice songs too, especially the 2nd comic-relief song ‘Ey yo, Ey yo!’ sung by Viscount Druitt. It was hilarious! Druitt is a GREAT singer and in his first song, he did this flamboyant pose and crooned ‘PHOENIIIIiiiIIIX~!’ at his entrance. Yes, lucky dude got to sing two solos! I know some of you may be thinking oh man, a comic-relief song when zombies are killing everyone? Don’t worry! Because the whole second half of the story was super intense, the comic relief song by Druitt was refreshing and helps steer us out of this depressive wave. This song ended with Ciel, Sebastian, Grell, Ronald doing the fabulous mass Phoenix pose that is exactly like in the manga! The dancers encouraged us in the audience to clap along too!
The actress for Lizzie sang really well in her solo song too! Her voice was very cute and she kept up the moe-vibe. But her song was really sad and some people cried when she sang about ditching everything to be cute for Ciel.
BIZARRE DOLLS
The Bizarre Dolls (supporting cast) was marvellous! Their zombie-walk was great and their dance choreography was to die for (pun not intended). Remember the basement scene where Ciel, Lizzie and Snake discover thousands of coffins with Bizzare Dolls rising from the dead? The show used a projection screen to project the rattling coffins and it looks really good and realistic! Then suddenly, this screen was raised to reveal a hoard of Bizarre Dolls lunging forward for them. Accompanied by the music, I literally got chills running all over my skin.
To make up for the lack of BIzarre Dolls, extra zombie mannequin dolls were used and tossed around to fill up the zombie numbers on stage.
FLOODING & SINKING SHIPS
Screen projections were used to create many of the effects on the ship. They used a transparent projection screen to project the rising flood-waters as well as water raining down from the ceiling. It was pretty realistic considering they cannot have real knee-length water flooding the stage.
Projections were also used to show the Campania breaking in half and when the ship started tilting as it sank!
KEY/ FAVOURITE MOMENTS
1. The playback of the pre-show announcements featured Reo’s super cute voice. I could see some fans of him squealing when they heard his voice.
2. Characters (AbberHank duo, Midford family, Ciel, Sebastian and Snake, Ronald) entered the stage from the audience exits and not from stage left/right. I am not sure if it is done at other shows or just for Ishikawa. In previous musicals, they did not have character entrances from the audience except for Hank/Abberline.
In the Saturday show, Ciel, Sebastian and Snake appeared and stood behind my seat (to my shock and delight). I could see their gloriousness up close! Reo/Ciel was just scowling and man, Reo is so skinny up close! His black tights made his legs look like chicken legs! Yuta/Sebastian looked utterly (and perfectly) demonic! I swear my heart stopped beating right there and then. Unfortunately, my Sunday show seats were further back but the trio did not stop behind my Saturday seat but instead continued walking towards the stage.
3. The opening for TotC is also different from previous musicals. We usually start the musicals with the contract scene but this time around, we had a Campania song with the characters boarding the ship.
4. The amount of Campania wordplay jokes..god! They were so funny!
(While boarding the ship)
Abberline: I heard they are selling merchandise on the ship.
Hank: What? What kind?
Abberline: Cam-badge (Campania + can badge)
Audience: LOL
-------------------------------------------------
(At the banquet)
Ronald, Abberline, Hank: Kampai-nia! (kampai (cheers) + Campania)
5. Yuta/Sebastian & Reo/Ciel doing the Phoenix pose was hilarious! Reo/Ciel was wearing heels so he was wobbling on one leg. The rich man from the Aurora Society circled Reo/Ciel to make sure he is keeping his Phoenix pose and the audience laughed.
In the Sunday show, poor Reo actually lost his footing but thankfully Yuta quickly caught his hand to stabilise him! It looks so authentic and in-character, and it delighted the audience! I am so sad that this probably won’t be in the DVD release...
6. Ryan Stoker also interviewed the front row audience about what is the most crucial thing aside from life, and the poor lady (on both days) kept giggling uncontrollably.
7. In the scene where Yuta/Sebastian fights the hoard of Bizarre Dolls in the ship’s basement, a giant red silk cloth was run over the audience’s heads towards the stage to signify a bloodbath/ wave of blood. This scene then led to the belated contract scene song!
8. YES. THERE IS AN ICE-BERG IN THE MUSICAL! It is huge, it is fabulous and it had Grell standing on top of it as it neared and crashed into the ship! What a fabulous entrance!
9. Yes, the fan-favourite scene of Sebastian calling Grell a hentai (pervert) is in the musical and it is super hilarious.
Grell: Ehhhh. So mean! I even bought some bromides (of myself) as presents.
Audience: LOL
10. Lizzie’s badass reveal was perfectly executed! She even did the same fighting choreography in the anime movie! She also the same poses in the manga! It was so good and I think Momoko really delivered and a perfect casting choice.
11. Undertaker’s shinigami reveal was really nice too! HIS DEATH SCYTHE IS GLORIOUS!!!!
12. In the stabbing scene, both Reo and Yuta were lifted by the supporting cast so it looks like they are ‘falling’ off from the top floor. The projection screen behind then projected the blood splatter as Undertaker’s scythe stabbed through Sebastian’s torso.
13. My favourite part in the whole musical is when Sebastian narrated his initial life as a butler to Ciel. As we all know our!Ciel is not the real Ciel! Reo actually portrayed our!Ciel very well. He hesitated before calling himself with his dead twin brother’s name. Sebby says 「 かしこまりました/ I understand.」 in the most super lazy, sarcastic and reluctant way, it was super funny. In the Sunday show, Yuta/Sebastian sat on the Earl’s bed after serving him milk & honey, which led to Reo/Ciel shoving him off. Yuta/Sebastian also made a ‘tsk’ sound when Reo/Ciel reprimanded him about cooking everything from scratch like a real human butler should. And as he walked away, he spat out 「クソガキ」(stupid brat) before launching into my favourite song ‘私は執事、あなたは伯爵’ (I am a butler and you are an Earl
14. The final Bizzare Doll fight scene in the middle of the ocean was beautifully executed. You can refer to the official trailer on the website to see how it was done!
15. Grell was more worried about his false eyelashes after Ronald and Grell found a boat. It was super funny!
16. The musical ended with a reprise of ‘私は執事、あなたは伯爵‘ and the Campania theme song.
SETSUBUN SPECIAL CURTAIN CALL
So setsubun was on Saturday and the cast prepared a special curtain call for us! Abberline and Hank did their ad-libbed comedy routine, and here are some of my favourite parts:
Hank:「はoutside!福はinside!」(starts rapping)...あ、でも、鬼がいないので‥ (‘Oni outside, luck inside, ahh, but there aren’t any oni inside here...)
Hank: Oh, look so many oni! (gestures to audience)
Abberline: Oi, don’t be rude! (smacks his head)
Hank: ...you’re right, there is only one oni...(gestures to one poor audience member in the first row)
Audience & Cast: LOL
Abberline:じゃ、「鬼はなし!福は内!」にしてた!(Well, let’s do `There is no Oni, Luck is inside’ then!)
The supporting cast then entered the hall and spread out, they tossed packets of 福豆 at us. I did not manage to catch a packet but the lady beside me did. Lucky girl....
The main cast also threw the packets of beans and Reo/Ciel got too excited and tried to fling the packet further out, and his Phantomhive ring flew out from his finger. He had to leap off the stage to recover it from the first row. The AbberHank emcees teased him about it
How can Earl Ciel do that?
That’s not something Ciel will do? (LOL)l
SATURDAY & SUNDAY CHANGES
As mentioned earlier, the cast made an effort to make every show unique so it doesn’t matter if you attend just one show or many shows. Each show has special changes in the actions and ad-libbed dialogue. Here are some of my favourites:
1. Opening Entrance: On Saturday, Abberhanks appeared together in the audience. On Sunday, only Hanks appeared alone and was super happy. But he met Abberline as he was walking to the ship who pretended not to recognise him.
Hank: Aren’t you Fred Abberline?
Abberline: No, I am Fured Abburraineee...(exaggerated accent)
Hank: No-th-that, besides the accent. The name is the same isn’t it? Fred Abberline!
Abberline: It’s Fured Abburraineee...
2. Banquet scene: Ronald taught Abberline how to pick up ladies, but Abberline was being socially awkward when flirting with them in the Sunday show. The trio only kept drinking in the Saturday show.
3. Ronald & Grell on a boat scene: In the Sunday show, Grell ad-libbed something random. Not sure if he forgot his lines but it was really funny...
Grell: (pauses before gesturing to the sky) Look so many birds, I want to be a bird too...
Ronald: (bursts out laughing)
4. Curtain call: We did not have long thank you speeches on Saturday due to the Setsubun special. But we had it on Sunday for the closing show.
Abberline: TADAIMAAAAA ~! Audience: OKAERIIIIIIIII~!
Congratulations, you made it all the way to the end of my super long review!
I will attend the live-viewing of their final performance at the cinema again on the 12th (just so I can see the set/costumes and all that in super high-definition on the big screen). Also I kinda wanna see the cast start crying when they make their final thank you speeches! Also because they mentioned we will be watching exclusive back-stage clips and I really wanna watch it!
Please, please PLEASE order a copy of the DVD/BLU-RAY. Please support the cast and giving them a well-deserved income from these sales.
The DVD/BLU-RAY will be released in Japan in June 27. You can order it off CDJapan, Amazon Japan or Animate International. I will be buying a copy myself as well!
