Skyloft headcanons
I’m a dweeb and I did a bunch of science review on stuff and got this.
1. The cloud barrier is at 10,000ft/3km elevation. I went skydiving at 13,000ft (it was awesome) and it seemed appropriate to put Skyloft at that height, so the area that people can freely fly their loftwings ranges from 10,000--25,000ft, or 3--8km, and Skyloft is around 13,000ft/4km elevation.
2. Typically riders fly up to 20,000ft and only the really experienced ones climb the extra 5k because this area approaches the “Death Zone” - this is the point where you cannot survive here for more than a few hours because of such a lack of oxygen in the air. This is a real thing, it’s at 25,000ft or 8km elevation, and this is the elevation where many hikers die climbing Mt Everest. So it’s a thing in The Sky too.
3. It’s naturally colder the higher you go because the atmosphere is thinner. This is a fact. Technically, this means the people of Skyloft would likely be physiologically adapted to the cold. They would have more brown fat on them, which is fat that is designed to retain heat without creating shivering and energy consumption in the body - so Skyloftians might be a bit stockier, though not looking overweight. Another real adaptation that is possibly noted in humans is an increased metabolic rate. In the context of my headcanon, then, that means Skyloftians are stockier and eat way more than the average Hylian.
4. There are seasons in The Sky since the earth’s rotation still affects them. They’re called Cold Season and Warm Season. Because they need to be able to survive off the vegetation and water, Hylia blessed the sky islands to remain within a certain temperature range rather than plummet into freezing temps in the Cold Season. The average Skyloft temperature is 40-65 F or 4-18 C.
5. They’re too high for rain, unless you count the thunder cloud, so on the Surface when it rains they don’t have a word for it. They call rain “tears from the sky.” Instead of saying “it’s raining,” Link would say “the sky is crying.” It was extremely alarming the first time it happened during his journey.
6. At their elevation, Skyloft is exposed to more sunlight (less protection from the atmosphere and clouds). As such, they produce more melanin and all have a good tan. Also, the air is dryer up there, so their skin is naturally oilier than a Hylian.
7. Thinner atmosphere = less oxygen. As such, these guys adapted just like anyone who lives at a higher elevation: they produce more hemoglobin in their blood to capture as much oxygen as possible to make up for everything their body needs, especially if they’re running at a higher basic metabolic rate due to cold adaptation. When Link and Zelda go to the Surface, then, they have more hemoglobin than they need, which means their body absorbs more oxygen than it needs, which means they get this lovely syndrome called hyperoxia, or oxygen toxicity. Signs and symptoms include headache, dizziness, confusion, coughing, seizures, and eventual death if untreated. Impa had to help Zelda adjust, which she did quickly when she noticed Zelda was ill the first day or two. Link, however, being in a hurry, did not notice when he started having headaches, didn’t think twice when he’d have coughing fits, until he collapsed into a full on seizure in the sacred spring at the Forest Temple and Fi had to get him out of there. Since then, Zelda and Link christened it Surface Sickness, and the way they and everyone else handles it is by taking it easy their first day or two on the Surface with occasional flights to higher elevations to help their bodies adapt. Eventually the body realizes it doesn’t need all this hemoglobin that it produced and it adjusts accordingly.
8. Skyloftians naturally adapt to higher elevations like Skyloft far faster than they adapt to the Surface. If Link and Zelda visit Skyloft for a day, they get Surface Sickness when they go back to their settlement even though they spend more time on the Surface as a general rule than in Skyloft post-adventure.
#I've definitely thought too much about this but oh well#it was fun researching physiological adaptations to elevation changes#and the body's natural tendency to adapt to heat or cold#our bodies are awesome!#skyward sword#legend of zelda#psst lu peeps think of the angst and fun possibilities#if the chain goes to skyloft and they all get elevation sickness#and then when they leave sky gets surface sickness#skyloft

For All the Light That I Shut Out
prompt: “I haven’t slept in four days” // a 2010!dan dealing with insomnia and depression and seeking comfort from 2010!phil.
tw: depression, insomnia, starvation (unintentional)
word count: 2.5k
genre: comfort, angst
this is also on ao3!
‘8 AM’ the too-bright digital numbers blared directly into Dan’s eyes. He rolled over, sweat-sticky sheets clasping onto his warm skin and contemplated throwing the stupid device. He placed a hand over his forehead and groaned audibly. Here marks four days of no sleep! Dan sarcastically thought to himself. By now, his usually straight hair had began curling wildly. He wasn’t trying out a new style, no, he was just too drained to leave his room, let alone spend an hour straightening his messy hair.
To be quite honest, this probably wasn’t the healthiest of lifestyles but what could he do? He’s just some sad kid trying to get by. Dan knows his insomnia isn’t helping whatever’s going on in his head but he just can’t bring himself to care. So what if I’ve stayed up for some 80 hours with a total of six hours of sleep? I’m not gonna die. It’s fine.
Though, it wasn’t exactly “fine” as Dan had convinced himself before. As he wasted away in his prison-like dorm for the fourth time in a row, he realized this was probably not the best course of action for him. He remembered what Phil, the love of his puny little life, had told him as Dan exited the Manchester flat. Stay hydrated! Well, mark that off. Dan’s mouth was drier than the Sahara at this point. Remember to eat! Nope, Dan actually had only eaten a little packet of crackers from beside within his little stay in his bed. Socialise! No hiding! Ha. Haha. Ha.
What Dan needed now was Phil. But Phil was 15 minutes away in an entirely different building. He couldn’t get up. For several reasons. One, he’d tried and he had literally blacked out. Secondly, he felt trapped as if his mattress held him in a death grip. Lastly, he’d have to call a cab and walk and move his arms and honestly that sounded more like climbing Mt. Everest than going to pay a lovely visit to his boyfriend. The best Dan could currently get was the occasional vibration from his phone, knowing that one (if not all) of the messages were from Phil. Phil. Phil asking if he’s okay, like always.
Mustering up all of his energy, Dan counted to three… five… okay, ten will do. Dan counted to ten, preparing his arm to reach over and snatch his phone from where it laid on the little stand beside him. It was silly if you really thought about it but Dan was pretty proud of himself. He held the phone close to his face, opening it up, and gazing at all of the texts he’d received. 10 messages from Phil, 6 missed calls. 2 messages from Mum.
Instinctively, Dan opened up the text messages from Phil. Most asking if he was okay, others being little quirky stories. The most recent one asking if Dan wanted to come round to Phils. For the first time in a solid week, he swore he felt a little spark of hope deep in his chest, somewhere. It was gone before he could relish in the feeling of something. He swore he was actually a bit hopeful. Unfortunately, that feeling had gone so quickly because his mind shut it down. Dan you fucking idiot! Going to Phils place requires movement and heaven forbid you move your uncooperative body. End of the bloody world, yeah. I bet.
Dan deleted his response of agreement to Phils invitation, dropping his phone back onto the nightstand beside him and throwing an arm over his face so that he was hidden in the crook of his elbow. A few involuntary tears slipped out of his eyes, breath hitching. He rolled onto his side and faced the white brick wall and closed his eyes in an attempt to sleep. The fuckers shot back open though, emitting a sharp pain through his skull. A groan managed to die in his throat.
Dan laid practically lifeless in bed for what felt like minutes, though upon glancing at his clock, had actually been several hours. Time flies when you’re having fun. From then on, Dan had just focused his gaze on different things. He was wallowing in self pity just wishing he could do something, anything. Thanks to his mess of a brain, though, he could only roll around and occasionally sit up if he put all of his energy into it.
As evening rolled around Dan felt completely gone. He honestly felt as if he was just a body and a brain. Nothing else; no emotions, no will to do anything, no nothing. Just as he was about to attempt to sleep once more, probably to no avail, he heard his phone stream out vibrations, rumbling the wooden surface it was sat on. He rolled over to face away from the wall and stared at the light emitting from the screen and shining throughout his dark and murky room. Sitting up slowly and achingly, Dan reached his weak arm out and swiped his phone off the desk. Incoming call from Phil<3. On what was probably the final ring Dan tapped the small green circle, watching as the call connected the two before Phil’s voice flooded through the old speakers.
“Dan?” Phil called, worry heavily lacing his voice. Dan managed to respond with a little hum. “Hey… how are you?” He asked.
“I don’t know. Not great.” Dan admitted, his voice raspy from not talking for such an extended period. It could’ve gone a lot worse than just a rough voice considering he had managed to fight off a fit of coughs which surely would’ve drained him even more.
“Yeah? Why?” The boy on the other line questioned, sadness and guilt edging into his voice.
“Dunno.” Dan sighed out.
“Would you like to come ‘round to mine? Or I could come and get you from yours? We can play video games.” Phil dragged out the a of the last word, then taking Dan’s silence as a chance to bribe him with more options. “Or we could watch a movie. Or just lay on the couch or the bed or wherever you want, so long as it’s not on some hard surface that’ll mess up our backs.”
“I want to.” Dan replied in a quiet voice, barely audible to Phil. Phil formed his mouth around a word to cheer, and instead being interrupted by a loud scratching noise as Dan changed his phones location. “-but I don’t think I can.” He huffed out, voice wobbling a bit at the end.
“Why not?” The older questioned, obviously disappointed which just made Dan feel even worse.
“Can’t move.” Dan blankly stated.
“What? Are you hurt? Should I-”
“No, Phil. No.” Dan cut him off before Phil could panic. That was the last thing he needed happening.
“Oh.” Phil paused, racking his brain for anything else. “Tired?”
“Something like that.” Dan mumbled.
“Shall I come ‘round to yours then? We can stay there or we can go to my place. I don’t- I just really miss you.” Phil let out a weak laugh that sounded more like a huff.
“Maybe.” Dan responded, stomach growling loudly causing Dan to close his eyes and clench his teeth.
“Well it isn’t a no. I’ll be there in six seconds exactly. Love you!” Phil exclaimed gleefully before hanging up. Dan didn’t bother to turn off his phone. He rolled back over to face the wall, hoping that maybe Phil would be able to pull him out of this slump.
A knock on Dan’s door to the beat of the Super Mario theme, a low groan, and the turning of doorknob later, and Phil was in his room. There was silence throughout as Phil approached Dan’s weak form.
“Dan?” Phil called to get the boys attention. He sat on the end of the others bed, cocking his head to look at him. Though there wasn’t a visible face, there was another hum. “Dan, hun, you’ve gotta sit up. You’re gonna get a blood clot, love.” Phil lightheartedly scolded Dan, scooting over to the curled up lump on the bed.
Phil placed his hands gently on the forms shoulders, giving a light pull to inform Dan he was gonna pull him up. Phil barely heard the younger grumbling before Phil hoisted him up, Dan giving little effort to help the process. When he was sat up he immediately hid his face from the older.
“Let me see your face, pretty please?” Phil coaxed, rubbing Dan’s bony shoulders. Dan sighed and Phil took this as a sign of approval. He used his index and middle finger to lift up Dan’s head from his chin. Upon focusing on the face, Phil knew for sure something was seriously wrong. Firstly, Dan’s eyes were completely bloodshot, hollow, sunken, and held some serious eye bags. His cheekbones were hollowed out, his lips were chapped, his hair was knotty and greasy, and his skin was paler than his own.
Phil hadn’t even realized he was holding his breath with a hand over his mouth until he watched Dan’s eyes become watery. He let his hand drop from his mouth and onto the youngers shoulders, letting out a deep breath. He did a double take of Dans features and hugged Dan. The boy didn’t have any reaction, sitting still with his arms in his lap. Phil let his cheek rub into the boys bone-defined shoulder, feeling up his far-too-prominent spine. He had managed to pull himself together enough to release the others limp form and looked deep into Dan’s glazed over eyes, taking Dan’s hands gently in his.
“Here’s what we’re gonna do. You’re gonna put on some more clothes, we’re gonna go to my flat, you’re gonna have a bath and something to eat, and we’re gonna watch something together. No hiding away again.” The older stated in a firm voice with gentle edges. All Dan could manage was a little nod, feeling his mind begin protesting. This is for the best. For Phil.
After helping Dan slip into a large, dark hoodie and sweats, Phil guided Dan out of the building and into a cab. When they finally arrived at Phil’s flat Dan felt absolutely exhausted, despite his only actions being walking and laying his head on Phil’s pudgy shoulder in the backseat of a cab.
Phil guided a tired Dan into the bathroom of his homely flat, sitting the younger on the toilet lid. He squatted down and turned the tap on to produce warm water and waited for it to fill up. When the water level looked acceptable Phil helped Dan strip and sat him down in the water. Phil sat with Dan for a few minutes, watching as the purple bath bomb he’d thrown in there dissolved in the water. The cozy silence was interrupted by a loud rumble from Dan’s empty stomach which reminded Phil that the younger needed food.
“I’ll be back.” Phil stood, rubbing Dan’s damp curls before walking towards the door. Dan was only alone for probably four whole seconds before Phil popped back into the doorway. “Pancakes or cereal?”
“...Pancakes?” Dan responded after a few moments of silence and contemplation. Phil gave a thumbs about before trotting away.
Phil had reentered the bathroom just as the water was getting cold and uncomfortable with a sympathetic smile on his lips. He sat on the toilet lid where he’d been before, studying Dan’s hair that was still fairly damp, unwashed.
“Hun, you’ve gotta actually wash your hair.” Phil told Dan in a gentle voice. After Dan’s eyes teared up again, Phil quickly regretted his words. “No- don’t- don’t cry, Dan. Here, I’ll help. Okay?” Phil sputtered out, reaching over to grab a cup and some shampoo.
Phil washed the last bit of conditioner out of Dan’s hair and helped the younger stand up, wrapping him in a fluffy towel. He guided Dan to the bedroom where he sat him down on the edge of his bright duvet and helped him slip back into his hoodie and boxers with Phil’s socks on his icy feet. After getting the brunet boy dressed, Phil took him by his hand and sat him down on his sofa, continuing to disappear into the kitchen. He reappeared with two plates of pancakes that were messily stacked and looked like they were about to topple over out of Phil’s unsteady hands.
Phil sat down beside Dan, placing the two plates onto the little coffee table in front of them, barely avoiding dropping them entirely. He pulled a nearby blanket over him and the boy beside him, grabbing the remote and turning on an episode of Sherlock, the volume slightly lower than normal. The duo laid there together, listening to the others breath and heartbeat. Just a little notion to unintentionally let the other one know they’re here. Living. Side by side.
In the span of a single episode Dan had managed to wedge a smooth leg between Phils, the other one sprawled out in front of him. His hands were both resting on Phil and his head was laid on the olders shoulder once again. Phil glanced down at the younger boy who was yawning and desperately trying to keep his eyelids open, despite it being only seven o’clock. This was a bit out of place as Dan was well known for going to bed super light at night or early in the morning.
“What happened to Dan Night-owl Howell? It’s not 3 AM yet, silly.” Phil lightheartedly teased the sleepy boy that was hugging him like a koala. Dan weakley lifted his head off of Phil’s shoulder and offered him the first smile of the day. Even though it was tiny, almost invisible, it was there and this was progress.
“Mm… I haven’t slept in four days.” Dan slurred, drunk on tiredness. Phil’s face hardened a bit and Dan instinctively dropped his head back on Phil’s shoulder so he didn’t have to meet Phil’s questioning gaze.
“Like- not at all?” Phil questioned, worry lacing his voice just as it had earlier.
“Nah. I like… passed out ‘n all that.” Dan snuggled closer to Phil’s warm body, not really paying much attention to what was coming out of his mouth.
“Well that’s not healthy.” Phil said with a slightly shocked tone. Dan just hummed. “Okay, how about we go to an actual bed?” Dan just hummed again. Phil picked Dan up from the sofa with his barely existent muscles, only possible because he was so light, and carried the smaller one into his room. Dan was latched onto Phil like a black bear on a tree with his head buried in Phil’s neck. As they entered Phil’s room, Dan furrowed his eyebrows at the change of lighting, the brightness sending a shock of pain through his skull. Phil quickly laid Dan down on the bed and went back over to switch the light off.
Phil climbed back into the bed where Dan was teetering on the edge of a deep sleep. He laid down under the covers where Dan swiftly wrapped his arms and legs around Phil’s torso, curling up and letting their foreheads rest against each other.
“Goodnight, Dan. I love you loads.” Phil whispered to Dan, not even knowing if he was even still awake or not.
“I love you too, Philly.” Dan responded in an even quieter voice and drifting off into what would end up being a 15 hour slumber.
A/N: I wrote most of this in my global connections class. As in. I probably wrote a whopping three paragraphs at home. Also related to global connections: as I was writing it the girl beside me kept trying to read it and was like “c’mon let me read it” “is it sexual?” “pleassee can i read it? i’m not gonna tell” like klsdjfklsjd no thanks that’s horrifyingly embarrassing. The LORD Hath Given
The LORD Hath Given:
The name I was given before I was born; the name I was given from my mothers womb. So that the world might know who I belong to and am testifying for and sent for.
This is my story--my testimony to God and His Truth, Jesus Son of God, the Champion of Light!
I have heard from God and have seen Him and the "things" in which He doth do. I have been called to bear testimony to the Only True God whom has given me these "things," that they might prove God to the whole world in this time. I have thus been given power from God to not only speak His Word, as the Word comes first to test and try, to prove and measure a man, even the heart and willingness to believe in the Righteous Judge, even that of the weight of the man, his faith, but also, to act with action and power, signs and wonders--and these "Wonders" greater than Moses are coming.
The whole account of this testimony is too lengthy to be listed hear. From all the events, the dreams, the wondrous words of God, the teachings and the golden prophecies and visions, it is of such length for a book. This is why I have written this Testament in books; all to testify to God, that He is, and to Jesus Ha'mashiach, that He is the True Son of God, the Way, the Truth, and Life, and Salvation.
The books are titled, "Hallel: The Testament of Iyaw the Golden Lamp." www.injesusunited.com/thegoldenlamp
I am the Golden Lamp, and I do not bear this name without reason. "Or don't you know that the Golden Lamp rests in between the Two Olive Trees?" Or do you think I bear this name and have nothing to emit? I again testify to God, and so has he emitted His glory on me, even as it was seen on the face of Moses. Those things are coming, even too where I too will glow. Yes, even the Cloud that will fill up the Temple, the Pillar of Cloud by day and Fire in the Cloud by night will also come. Yes, the Trumpet Blast From Heaven, and the appearance of God coming alike the times at Mt. Sinai, but to Jerusalem, when the Temple is built! This is why we need to build the Temple! I tell it everywhere, God is going to come!" But I cannot get into all that hear, it is all stated in the books and I am merely giving you reason to believe God; even to believe me. So I was given these "things," which I record everywhere that it may serve as a witness when they come to pass, or rather, when God brings them to pass. It is always the Word first, then the Spirit of God to fulfill, but these indeed are One, for even when one speaks the Breathe or Spirit doth come also. So I announce first, then God will carry it out to prove Himself through it, thus having bore testimony.
Not only will I be sharing this testimony in power, but "The Two" as well, as it is written of them, "Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower them and put them to death..." Rev. 11:7
The Two as well as I with them, will be doing so, "finishing up our testimony" and witnessing of God before ALL, that it will be evident and plain before ALL, "as a witness to ALL," so that none will be with excuse or ignorance before God, "and then the end will come." So that is what I am doing. Even that I am chosen to fulfill Scripture, even "The Patterns" as a Testimony to "The God of the Book!" Of Moses, of Solomon, of Elijah, of John, of His Word, Jesus! (These prophecies are starting to be announced, for it must be prophesied openly and beforehand, for why should I prophesy after it has already happened? How will that bring testimony to God? So it will also result in testimony even to us, that we speak Truth and are all for God, all about God, and Side with God, utterly! So please understand this in the Name of God! This is why I must be heard! Understand this, in the Name of God, where man love to listen to the demons more than the angels, in the Holy Name of God, be strong and share this!
"For faith is by hearing; by hearing the Word of the LORD." Rom. 10:17
I pray that all men would understand the "things of God," even to see the "View," but how many can climb up this Mountain of Mountains to see? Not many, so this is also why you must heed too! Yes, from this spot, from this height from the Mountain, I do receive a good signal, a close signal, with less interference and noise; and so I sit hear attending and listening, always on watch like a watchman on his tower or just as a man sits watching his idol, his T.V, I am tuned into God--into all His channels, the "viewpoints" or "hot-spots," of God--even waiting for Him to go live or transmit His Word. Why else am I called a Golden Lamp? Or should I talk about the Channels of God? Who is watching daily, or is everyone asleep? Who is able to look up? Who is watching even every second, on their recliners, watching the channels of God?
The God of the Highest Heaven has made me, I am here pointing to God, as a signal--to point and make known, to declare, God, and all and what He shows me, that it be considered in the minds and hearts. Either for blessing or for judgment. To further the Earth and plan of God, to bless and strengthen the "Body," sharing whatever God wishes, His "Things," to help in the Expansion and Dominion of Light and the Elimination of Darkness, satans strongholds, that the Most Righteous God and His Holy City and people will be strong to further endure, to be sinless and restore Aden, to prosper on Earth as it is in Heaven, complete. I am hear to "prepare the way," even to "restore all things," to further the lives of them God wants and to vex the lives of them that hate and disobey God.
I received power from God through this "working in the Spirit" all else that is in this Testament. I have went through horrible things to get them, even this calling, so I say to all people, if you want this calling for yourself, go for it! I won't stop you! I have been surrounded by legions of demons, I have wrestled with satan as if without a break, God even gave me a dream which strengthened me, He showed me that satan was getting tired and frustrated. This is where I saw a strong man panting out before me as if he were tired, then I quickly got passed him and entered a certain door, which had a gold lock, to a house.
I have heard so much of satan everyday trying to interfere or tug at my heart to do his will or get me to go somewhere, I hear them all teasing and taunting me, beating me up like one who interrogates a terriorist. I am the man that satan comes after the most than anyone alive today, lest say seven. Because he knows that I am a "valuable," target--it is this "value," that I have learned to master, that has made me powerful. One such thing to help understand, for instance, if I didn't care for God's things, but only lived to die, only living for dust and not caring to make the world a better place, I would be of no value to God, thus, He would not care to help me fulfill such that purpose. Why would God help a man to fulfill such a purpose as a waste as that? And so friends, many are! They have not understood these things, that is why these things must be heard.
My mission is a tough one, it is a great one, it is so great that it will force satan to come down to stop, for he knows that if I were to keep speaking out it will result in such a Salvation and in such a catastrophe for B----on, for his dark kingdom and stronghold that he cannot have. So again, I became, "valuable," and so satan broke a sweat and went to strike a deal with God, a sort of trade and barter with God over me--even over the Two. So thus he will be allowed to stop me, but only if he lowers himself and comes down. As Jesus himself once said, "I saw satan fall like lightning," so this shouldn't be strange to you. He is getting weaker and weaker, lower and lower, from Heaven, to the Air, to the Earth, to Below the Earth, then to Hell. So he will be casted to the Earth and become as weak as a man. Why do you not believe me? Haven't you seen Isaiah 14? For once satan was kicked out of Heaven, now he shall be kicked out of the Earth. For once His children arise who will no longer touch a single thing of his, who no longer harbor his spirit, the demons who are his "pieces," or "possessions," for once men no longer are containing satan, thus will satan be now trespassing, and so God the Just will have power to kick satan out of us and away. But as long as man touch or tolerate or approach hither to satan, what makes one think God would care to kick him out from them? They enjoy him! See, I am speaking much again of the power of "value." Being both valuable to God and satan, for it is important as all these things that God doth speak are.
As said somewhere in the Spirit, it is said again, with a hand raised, "satan is fighting very hard at those who are up here." But who can get passed satan and so make it? Who can climb up the challengers pool and still not be knocked-out? Who can stand in the ring with this monster whom comes after everything a man has? Who can run a marathon in a single hour? Who can keep up the pace? How many can summit Mt. Everest? So not many can reach this height, some will get close, many will die along the way, (Exod. 33:5) each at the distance alike Mt. Sinai. (Exod. 24:1-2) (Exod. 19:21-22)
"I stood as an intermediary between you and the LORD, for you were afraid of the fire and did not want to approach the mountain. He spoke to me, and I passed His Words on to you. This is what He said..." Deut. 5:5
As I said, if you want this calling, go for it! And you might even reach this "peak," you might reach further, you might reach the point where I once was, where I cried out to God, "I don't want this calling anymore." So if you want this calling, you ought also be willing to do what it takes, otherwise you are guilty of lying, theft, and murder. I do not mean to scare you, "as if to be afraid of the fire," but you should know what it means to approach and get close to the Most Holy One. It is no easy task for a man, for you will surely find the places where prophets and saints are forged out of. As He has said, "I will refine you like gold." You ought to want these things, even a calling, even to be refined, like a tool ready for the Master to use, and I encourage you it is good to do so! But only that you do not give God and us a bad name. It's because so many profess, "I have the Holy Spirit," "I will go to Heaven," "Your loved ones are in Heaven," that no one really takes God serious, because they look at these people who profess these things, and they are doing what unbelievers do! As Jesus Himself said:
"And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted to the Heavens? No, you will go down to Hades. For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day." Matthew 11:23
But up until Jesus and even my birth, satan has been picking on all the son's of men; like some bully. He has been eating everyone up, as it is written of him, "a roaring lion to devour." But should I speak of my roar? My passion for God? Of the 144,000 whose voice were like the rushing of waters? Whose hearts beated and pounded for God like Thunder? Is not that why Jesus gave the name, "Boanerges," which means, "Son's of Thunder," to James and John?--Those "Two" who were closest to Him and could possibly be. Are you yet seeing the glory of God and His Golden Lamp? Yes, our hearts pounded for God like Thunder, we followed God like Lightning. Who has ever known this? None before me, but maybe seven. Up until Jesus and I and the Two, satan has been eating everyone up, so that they don't reach these " things," these, "heights," and come to know, that is why I said, "up until Jesus and I and the Two." So this is why you must heed, for God has intended that this "things," be "passed out," or "handed out," for We gained authority to have them done so.
And that is the point I am telling you, that it is also come to me for this time. But if my death means that people will then listen, so be it. But know that the moment I am taken away, the Beast, who is called, "The Executioner," will have come, and the "Great Tribulation," the "Destruction," will he have ushered in. If you understood what was said earlier of "the Two," you know God and are blessed by God for He shows those He loves these things as He has showed them to me. Therefore the one who is able to accept this and understand me, is blessed and loved by God, for only a man can understand if God doth let them.
I gave you some things to hear the spirit, so that you might decide whether I speak Truth or whether I should be neglected as if I were common or like everyone else.
There is much to be declared, but is all in the books I recieved from the Only True God. Look into all these things if you will. As for me, I will trust in my God, in the power of Him and will let people to figure out the hidden meanings behind this all.
"As You will O, God."
"It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; the glory of kings to search them out." Prov. 25:2

Top Movies and Books which will influence you to travel the world!
Movies mostly show us the real side of the world, by dramatizing various aspects of our lives. It is basically a medium of entertainment, but that is not all...People who are true movie lovers will know for a fact that films even teach or spread awareness about almost everything under the sun. So these are some movies which will persuade you to go around the globe.
1. This Mountain Life: In this film/documentary revolves around a duo of mother and daughter, who attempt the ski trek from Canada to Alaska. The mother has just turned sixty, and she is more than ready to take up this challenge. the gripping story with her daughter an avalanche burial; a group of nuns who inhabit a mountain retreat to be closer to God; an impassioned alpinist; a focused snow artist; a couple who has been living off grid in the mountains for nearly 50 years. All this combined makes a treat to watch “This Mountain Life”. The mountain ranges are covered with snow to the brim, with beautiful and natural beauty of the world.
2. The Moment: This feature documentary is all about free ride mountain biking. A group of bikers , in the backwards of British and Columbia are extreme adventure seekers. It is like a parallel universe where the riders want to see what their bikes can do. They smoke pot, live in the mountains and go down the hill with their bikes. Blood is everywhere along the trails. They are a bruised almost everywhere on their bodies including their stomach, hands, legs. Its an excellent movie which may inspire you to start mountain hiking or cycling from somewhere. Personally I was smiling throughout the movie, and wished I had the same skills and guts.
3. Plan C-14: “Not everybody has a Plan B”. This movie revolves around a man, Martin, an 83-year-old industrious man, who embarks on a unique journey at 14.000 ft through the deserted highlands of the Argentine Andes mountains. He is running out of time and against all odds and Doctor's recommendations, he is determined to have one last adventure before the end. His love and dedication for traveling are stronger than any medical diagnosis. His old friend, Mariano, was his companion in all his adventures and he passed away. This made him to embark on a new journey to the place where they made their last trip together in an attempt to bid him farewell. This Movie received the best adventure Film of 2018 by BANFF.
4. Free Solo: Free Solo is a documentary film based on a rock climber, who wants to climb the toughest mountain on this Earth. It has portrayed the perspectives of all his closed ones. His girlfriend is happy that he is perusing his dream, but is she is afraid that he wont make it and return from the trip. His mother is very proud of him, and also believes that, life would mean nothing to him, if he doesn’t do this, there will be no meaning to his life! This man is an inspiration to so many mountain climbers out there. This movie had received “Best Documentary Film Award” by BAFTA in 2018.
5. Trembling Mountain: On April 25, 2015, Nepal was hit by a devastating earthquake in which 9,000 people lost their lives. The quake caused an avalanche of snow, ice and debris that swept away entire villages. One of them was the village of Langtang in the magnificent Langtang Valley, a popular trekking destination surrounded by the majestic Himalayas, where the avalanche killed 176 of the villagers and around 80 hikers. The Nepalese filmmaker Kesang Tseten Lama travels to the area days after the earthquake, going on to document the survivors’ efforts to rebuild their lives for a full year, long after the earthquake has faded from the news. Most residents are taken to a refugee camp where they are given basic facilities like limited food, negligible health care facilities and shelter. The director encapsulates every emotion of the survivors who have been through tragic situation.
BOOKS WHICH WILL MAKE YOU WANDERLUST
Many people prefer books over movies. All of us have been a part of an argument at least once in our lifetime, that is the book better than the movie, or vice-versa. I say, decide for yourselves!
1. Before They pass away: In this book, the writer, Jimmy Nelson has showcased a group of tribals protecting their culture and heritage in this increasingly globalized world. This book reminds us that their tradition is not only joyful to look at, but has a lot of historical importance too. The photography done by the author himself is splendid with beautiful landscapes captured with nuance and posterity.
2. Complete Atlas of the World: This beautiful atlas of the world is the best one we’ve ever owned and one the most essential books for travel junkies. It includes over 330 maps depicted in full-colour double-page spreads, it provides a detailed profile of the world’s continents and countries. Readers will also find a series of thematic maps that explore Earth’s place in the universe, its physical forms and processes, the living world, and the human condition.
3. Into thin Air: It is basically a personal account written by Jon Krakauer, where an expedition to Mt. Everest leads to eight people dying including several casualties suffered by the survivors. The author was one of the many who survived the rogue storm. Even a movie was adapted from the same.
4. The bucket list: The book revolves around a billionaire and a mechanic who share the same hospital room. Apart from sharing the same room they also share common interests of travelling to some of the places, mentioned in their respective lists. They decided to embark on a adventure journey before any of them or both of them die.
5.The Push: An inspiring memoir by legendary rock climber Tommy Caldwell, the first person to free climb the Dawn Wall of Yosemite’s El Capitan. It is similar to the documentary free solo where they climb one of the toughest rocks on Earth. Yet another inspiring story which will keep the readers hooked throughout the story!
Movies and books give us a brief knowledge about whatever topic they choose to write or show about. Even when you don’t have enough money to travel, movies and books can give you a visual or tour of that place in much lesser amount of money. North 350 Blades: Thanks for the Memories
“My thru-hike started March 31, 2015. In mid-September I had reached Snoqualmie Pass on Interstate 90 in northern Washington. From there to Stevens Pass on Highway 2 was a hiking distance of 71 miles. This section required climbing and descending over 5,500 feet per day. The closer my approach to Canada, the steeper the trail seemed. I might as well have gone to Nepal and climbed twenty-nine-thousand foot Mt. Everest.”
By Albert ‘Stargazer’ Wallace
These were wet and gloomy days hiking mountains in the rain. On the first day an itchy rash or bug bite developed on my right wrist and by the time I reached Stevens three days later there were about 10 similar rashes on my back, arms and legs. Each was an inch or more in diameter.
On the second day out, the sky drizzled and steamed fog. On one downhill the views were entirely in tones of grey: above the grey fog, below the grey rocks, and in the middle the grey rain. Then in the middle of the fog I stared in amazement at an extraordinary Technicolor scene. The moss on the rocks and the ground cover displayed striking pastel shades of green, orange, purple and yellow framed by the rocks below and the trees above. It was a misty elegant view. I had had no idea that the forests were colored in pastels.
At the Stevens Pass trailhead the ski resort was still open in the summer for hikers and bikers. My wife, Donna, was waiting in our Volvo station wagon. She gave me a warm hug and kiss. I headed to the cafeteria and picked up a quick meal. Worried about the peculiar spots on my skin, Donna found the ski patrol & rescue guy and got him to look at my rashes. He was a nice young man in his late 20’s. He said, “It could be nothing much or on the other hand it could turn into blood poisoning and you will die.” Oh my, there I’d be in the wilderness dying of blood poisoning or something worse. I thought my body was telling me to quit the hike.
Donna made an appointment at the urgent care center next to the Wenatchee Valley Hospital. Wenatchee is a city about 58 miles east of the pass. Walking into the reception room with backpack and hiking poles, I wanted to make sure the doctor understood she was examining a thru-hiker and the diagnosis should take into account my general good health and situation. She examined me briefly. We talked hiking and long distance running. Then she interrupted the conversation and announced that I had classic symptoms of impetigo, a staph infection that children get sometimes. The treatment was topical antibiotic three times a day for ten days. Another trail angel had rescued me. What a blessing she was. For an instant I was in love with my doctor. It was love at first diagnosis. Maybe I would make it to Canada at last.
One extra zero day in Wenatchee and I was ready to hike again. These final 197 miles of the PCT would take me nine hiking days. That distance required climbing 45,500 feet up mountains, around glaciers and 45,500 feet back down into deep river gorges. It included trekking around and past Glacier Peak, 10,541 feet elevation and capped with glacial ice.
Glacier Peak
Now the morning hike was often two hours without a break and I absolutely loved hiking. I could hardly wait for each new day to begin. Moving briskly it was often very cold, at or below the freezing point and my fingers ached with pain. My mind was often filled with joyous happy thoughts of gratitude, maybe even rapture. And then my thoughts abruptly switched to sadness and tears streamed down my face. This experience seemed to be intense joy for all my blessings and intense sadness for all of my losses and failures in life.
It finally dawned on me that hiking had become a meditation that seemed to suspend time. It was a wholly new experience that brought about some new and profound personal insights. I experienced an intense sense of self-awareness but from the point of view from outside of myself. I felt a timelessness that allowed my mortal fears and anxieties to seem unimportant. I’d become unstuck in time and space like an alien, a Tralfamadorian in a Kurt Vonnegut novel. I had a suspicion that my experience was a result of our human physiology and psychology.
Most modern humans, those that exercise for 30 minutes or less per day, fuel their bodies almost exclusively burning sugars and carbohydrates. These fuels are enough for quick bursts of energy. Man can also burn fats which are slow acting but produces more power. But fat burning requires special enzymes in our muscles and for most of us our muscles have atrophied to the point that we are very inefficient burning fat for energy. The body stores fat but rarely uses it. The body only begins to metabolize fat after 20 minutes of exercise.
Marathon runners and long-distance hikers have started to develop robust fat metabolism in their muscles. It is called long slow distance and includes the benefits and effects for a person who primarily uses fat metabolism for energy. After several months our muscles are no longer addicted to carbohydrates and have become incredible fat burning machines. In the second year our bodies have reached a point of maximum fat burning efficiency. During the hike I lost 14 pounds of body weight. That’s 52,500 calories as a pound is equivalent to 3,500 calories.
Long slow distance produces endorphins (hormones similar to opiates) into the muscle to reduce discomfort, and endocannabinoids (similar to marijuana) are released by the brain so that we feel better. Because of the endorphins, most long-distance hikers are not disturbed by bad weather. The fat burning endorphins/endocannabinoids produced the same result as people who experience long fasts. These fasts produce a meditative state of mind.
We become very different both in mind and body. Our thinking becomes more abstract and creative, but less mathematical. We have some of our best thoughts and day dreams while hiking or running. Our hearing, smell and sight improve. The speed of transmission of vision from our retina to our brain increases. Our joints become more effective and less prone to injury.
My body had been producing endorphins making me feel good while hiking and carrying a backpack. Because of the endocannabinoids I wasn’t bothered by bad weather. The thru-hike was having a profound effect on my imagination and brain function and all of my senses were enhanced. It only took me about 2,500 miles of hiking to realize I was on a twenty-four hour per day meditation. My mind was giving me new thoughts and imagining new possibilities for myself and the world. I had even imagined an apparition and thought for awhile that I was a comedian.
Call it a hiker’s high, but for me this adventure had moved far beyond any brief runners high. It was an experience that I didn’t expect and never imagined. For me the last remnants of human culture and society had faded away. I had become the naked man and along with this nakedness came a new fearlessness, mental focus, and the ability to see myself, and the world, in new ways. The possibilities seemed limitless and I was ready to leap up with my spear and kill a raging woolly mammoth.
At Gracie Creek, Washington, I snapped a photograph. The scene that captured my attention was a fallen tree trunk that formed the bridge over the creek. I had crossed countless streams and rivers on my journey. Many of the crossings were bridges made from fallen trees. This one was funny, probably because I was looking for a laugh. It was the entire tree including the root stub that formed the bridge. The tree was long, maybe 50 feet crossing over that creek. The root stub formed a sort of entrance to the crossing and the trail led directly between the roots. I wondered if the trail was rerouted specifically to use that tree as the bridge. I wondered if the trail crews had my same sense of humor. Thanks for the memory North 350 Blades.
Crossing a stream meant I was at the bottom of a valley and was about to climb again. I was rested at the bottom but soon would be working hard and climbing. What would I be after reaching the end of the trail? My thoughts were on many things but mostly at this point I was thinking O!Canada, the first words in the Canadian national anthem. I was building up the drama to my final act of completion. It was September 25, and within a week I would reach the end of that long winding ribbon.
Albert ‘Stargazer’ Wallace has been a frequent contributor to the PCT Trailside Reader website. He has completed a manuscript of stories from the PCT and has developed a series of talks based upon his PCT experience (”money is not a requirement,” he tells me):

Scaling the Peaks
AN ENTREPRENEUR WITH A DIFFERENCE, HEMANT SACHDEV’S PAS‐ SION FOR MOUNTAINEERING SAW HIM SUMMIT MOUNT EVEREST. HE IS NOW TRAVELLING THROUGH THE US GIVING TALKS ON LEADERSHIP AND LIFE
Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing. And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb. And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance. — KHALIL GIBRAN
To face fears, and soar above the ordinary is the holy grail of a mountaineer. Immense dedication, stillness within and life-defying passion saw mountaineer and entrepreneur Hemant Sachdev summit Mount Everest. With a team consisting of fellow climbers Bill Crouse, Adam Smith, Jon Gupta and Sherpa Padava, the team summitted Mount Everest on the early crisp, severely wind blown, -45 degree morning of May 19 in 2013. They reached, laboured in breath, weary in step, the top of the world. This is now a part of Everest Rising, a fivepart documentary series that shows Mount Everest’s his‐ tory with the climb as the focal point. It is also the first HD footage of the mountain and will be shown on National Geographic on April 5. For the Delhi-born Modern School Barakhamba and Delhi University student, who went on to study business at Harvard University, and created a retail giant, Hemant’s life is about surpassing limitations, be it in business or on an unforgiving mountain track. Sachdev is also travelling through the US giving talks on leadership and life. An arduous, bone chilling and death-defying climb to the top of Sagarmatha at 8,850 mt filled Hemant with childlike wonder. Defeated limbs, anguished body and in stupor, Hemant walked the Hillary Step and trudged from a point of no return along the same trail that Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay had walked on 60 years ago. “
It was magical. I could see that the earth was truly curved, I looked around in awe,
” says Hemant Saachdev.
The intrepid mountaineer who had slipped into a bottomless crevasse, was rescued by his friend and able Sherpa Padava thanks to the rope between them. Giving up in mind and body, the constant need to surpass boundaries, overcome obstacles and sum‐ mit is a heady potion for any climber. “I looked around taking it all in. Then, I placed a small Indian flag with a small statue of the Buddha as Mother Everest opened her arms to us,” he smiles.
Yet, this journey for the Harvard man whose company Chogori is among the top adventure gear companies today, started years ago. “I have been climbing since college. In 2000, I started my own outdoor gear company in my basement at home — my office was the ping pong table! Today, Chogori is the largest and most established outdoor gear company in the country. Running a business selling gear to adventurers and climbers, every year, I would have friends coming back with stories, about which route they took, what the experience was like, the fatalities and lives lost, which is a part of such climbs. In 2011, I saw someone die of cerebral edema. You carry such memories with you, I de‐ cided then that I was going to be more prepared when I went back in 2013. We were at base camp (17,000 feet) and spent nearly 45 days, going from different camps to base five to six times — the conditions were harsh at the base camp, but it ironically became a place of luxury — there is a summit window to climb Mount Everest, barely four days a year. So we started early to overcome the other (traffic) climbers,” says the entrepreneur who brings to light the lack of conservation efforts on the top of the world, the need to protect Sherpas, their families and to preserve Mount Everest. Chogori is named after his favourite Mountain — K2. He is also behind bringing Crocs and Columbia to India. His climbing journey has the Nanda Ghunti, Trishul and a few other mountains in the repertoire.
Seeing death at such uncomfortably close quarters has changed his perception and this learning is what Sachdev shares on his travels across the US, where he is giving speeches to youngsters on life. “Truly, the central purpose of life is to grow internally, and never give up. After summiting Mount Everest, I have a greater self-belief and feel I have so many strengths to counter new challenges. Every limit is tested — emotional, spiritual, physical, mental and you discover boundaries that can be overcome,” says the lover of philosophy and history.
With mountains climbed, human frailties overcome, companies spearheaded, Sachdev has created a microcosm of growth, and Harvard was the place where it all started, “A friend from Brazil was staying in my living room then. He was at one point homeless, and had stayed at a homeless shelter for a month. Yet, he went on to build a car mapping system that he sold very successfully. This was real learning, not just what the professors taught, but meeting people, different perspectives and getting inspired,” says the boyish entrepreneur.
Buddhism and Hinduisim texts keep him grounded, but when he is not travelling for work, he loves a good hike, family time and playing tennis. After sitting victorious on top of the world, this life is Hemant’s oyster — the harder the climb, the better the rewards and the learning.
