Hi! I'm new to your account, but just binged your "I bet on losing dogs" storyline, and I had a question and concept for you? How much is the reader free to interpret? I'm a theater kid, so I like her hobbies. But is there any specific physical traits you're writing for her? I know you mentioned that we were/are chubby, which is cool, but do you imagine any certain features? Because I'm Mexican American with certain features, so I was curious if you had a certain ethnicity set for her besides being half White/Jewish from Bruce being her biological father.

I also had the same question about Tiffany, because I'm currently imagining the Stereotypical All American girl. Kinda got that Disney Channel actress vibe to her. (Physically). I also had this really messed up though of the reader having to spend YEARS trying to keep in touch her mother's culture and such, learning dishes, traditions, going to local festivals by herself, having to learn how to do makeup and hair styles/products that fit her face and hair pattern. No one bothered to help or teach her. But than, suddenly Tiffany starts to steal those "habits", uncaring if they were very personal to the reader. Than everyone in the family suddenly starts to like the Reader's culture and such. (I had this scene in my brain where the Reader walks in on Tiffany is bragging about some music or dish "she" tried out from the Reader's culture, while the family are all happy and curious about it. Even when the Reader tried to introduce it to the family, everyone declined even trying it.)

ok so, I'm trying to be as vague as possible bc reader is supposed to be whoever is reading so there's no in depth description or specific height or build (except chubby in the prologue). i feel like i've basically made reader an OC which i hate but personally when I'm reading a fic, I just ignore things if I don't like them or they don't apply to me which is what i suggest yall do!!

the reader's mother is Palestinian/ Venezualan, like my own mom but you can change it if you'd like. it's important to mention that reader does have Bruce's jaw structure and face shape and shares facial features with Damian as well. It's small things like the ears, the roman nose, even the eye shape, point is that every time reader looks in the mirror she can see shadows of Bruce and Damian on her face. it's kinda like the vibe of "like him" by tyler the creator. I'm middle eastern and hispanic so I imagine reader with darker feautures like tan skin, thick brown hair, arched brows and long lashes but it's all up to you!

reader is very confused because while her dad is white, she isn't. she did try to bond with Damian and learn Arabic with him but he shamed her for not knowing and kicked her out his room, literally. she used to be embarrassed of her heritage when she was younger (courtsey of Tiffany calling her a mutt) but as she got older she realized how interesting her culture is.

she wants to learn arabic but has no teachers and it's a pretty hard language to learn if you don't grow up speaking it .she has no sources to help her and most of the time culture and traditions are things you grow up with and are passed down to you from family. her mom used to speak to her in arabic and feed her dates and sandwiches with olive oil and sugar and make her fried plantians so those things are very special to her, they're some of the only details she remembers about her late mother. so yeah reader is very "Your best american girl coded"

You're so on point about Tiffany, she's your classic all American girl. Blonde hair, blue eyes, long tanned legs and a set of pearly whites. she's the kind of white girl to act like she cares about other races but is secretly racist. you know what girls im talking about! and that prompt you sent with the food eats so hard, I have a scene mapped out with that in the upcoming chapters. i'm getting top surgery on january 8th 2024 and im so excited and so scared but im being so so brave about it

though i've tried saving the funds myself for years now, emergencies keep wiping them away, like vet bills, emergency moves, wage theft, a con artist roommate, you name it, its happened in the last two years. i never wanted to have to rely on crowdfunding for something so vital and important to me, but now that it's here im really calling on my community to help support me

top surgery is not only a dream come true as far as having a body i can finally call home, but also with living in one of the most conservative states in the bible belt as a trans, gay, autistic, disabled, jewish man, its a matter of safety as well. temperatures frequently reach 115f/46c in the summer here, and with some of my health problems, binding isnt always feasible in that kind of heat. but not binding also means i risk getting clocked, and i don't think i need to tell yall how bad that could go for me

i've really been scraping by on low wages for years as a social worker and now as a graduate teaching assistant. and the previously aforementioned vet bills, con artists, etc have just really squashed any hope i had for paying for this myself

it's not easy for me to ask for help, but it would genuinely mean the world if yall could share this around. i know this is the webbed site of unemployed disabled people and broke college students but every little bit helps

My Drarries during Hanukkah

My lovely friend @greattemptation tagged me in the 'what your Drarries are doing for Christmas' game (GT's is here) and they've all been SO fun to read!! Tonight's the last night of Hanukkah, and Eight Drarry Nights series is finally done, so I'm gonna talk about what my Drarries are doing during Hanukkah!!

(Note: I headcanon Harry as Jewish, but not Draco, so I imagine they do Hanukkah stuff for Harry and Christmas stuff for Draco. I also think Harry does Christmas with the Weasleys and has done so basically since he was a kid.)

They give each other gifts each night, but Harry's most excited to give Draco a first-edition copy of a Frank O'Hara poetry book. Draco's most excited to give Harry a magical tool that tells him when baked goods are perfect and ready without having to open the oven first.

Just Between Us

They're in Paris now, having left on the day after Christmas. Draco surprised Harry with the tickets and fully-planned trip on Christmas Day.

Little does Draco know, Harry's been carrying around a small, black velvet box in his pocket for a few weeks now. He's been waiting for the right moment, but he finds it when they're walking across the Pont des Arts. Draco, of course, says yes.

i had read about terrorist organizations using that slogan and i had a gut reaction. im a jew and i fear for both muslims and jews with everything that is going on right now. because i read what you wrote and i researched again and i see where propaganda got the better of me (even if those words have been used by terrorists). and i see time and time again where propaganda gets the better of most of us on something as fast paced as the internet.

as i read i remembered. the naz*s took a symbol that was once peaceful and turned it into something the world cannot look at the same way ever again-entirely their fault not the fault of the original culture from which the symbol came.

i dont want to see that happen with words that are truly important and stand for something i do believe in which to be clear: is a free and peaceful palestine where no one has to live in fear.

in saying what i did based off of a gut reaction i made a mistake. i did the same thing i hate from others on the internet which is speaking on an issue before doing further research and i am ashamed of that.

but i am also committed to learning and doing better tomorrow. no one can become an expert in any part of this as quickly as plenty have claimed to. im writing this to share my perspective and as a reminder of fallibility for whatever that is worth.

i think its important for ensuring we dont become what we wish to stand against.

you're totally right - no one can possibly learn the history quickly. It's taken me 16 years to feel like I am actually relatively well versed in the history and I'm not even well versed, I'm just decently versed lol. and if you add into it the propaganda that we've all been told for years, and then the added generational trauma you have? of course it's hard to fight gut reactions because often they're somewhat based in experiences we've had or others have had.

the reason I told you as an anon to fuck off is because of my history and views towards anonymous asks more than anything else, btw. THAT is a gut reaction but it is also informed by my experiences. and often it is legit! and it's also important to remember that no group is monolithic, so if an anon comes into my ask box saying that they are from, idk let's say, venezuela. i don't know a whole lot about venezuela. I know there is a lot of propaganda and shit from the us, and I know that there are class dynamics and racial dynamics that I vaguely understand because I have a relatively okay understanding of the entire region but it's not good enough to hold up more than a little bit under any kind of actual pressure like being told something by someone who claims to be venezuelan and says that everyone is actually indigenous (which i do understand to be indigenous erasure), and so it would be more comfortable for me to just say, "okay thanks for the info, my bad!" etc etc etc which... okay but like what if they're not venezuelan? what if they are and they're actually just anti-indigenous? what if they're a right-winger or a bot or idk just wrong lol. some people can be just incorrect without it being disinformation, right? so if I post that without any pushback or skepticism, I'm now spreading misinformation that is used to harm indigenous people.

i feel like what a lot of yall are being really fuckjng ignorant about in regards to israel and palestine is that, yes, the israeli occupation of palestine was established in an imperialist manner (because it was done by britain) and is a colonialist entity that should be resisted, even if that's through violence. HOWEVER israeli civilians especially the original settlers are sure as hell not even remotely on par with the level of colonizer complicity and guilt as, for example, white american settlers (nor do i think any descendants of colonizers should be subjected to genocide obviously but yknow what i mean).

I agree that Hamas' actions shouldn't be excused. They have committed a slew of crimes ranging from indiscriminate attack of civilian areas to storing munitions in schools. I'm not trying to make them out to be the good guys, but to act as if the Palestinians just woke up one day and "chose violence" is false. That was the point I was responding to. Israel has chosen violence every day of it's existence and repeatedly undermined any attempts to get justice for the Palestinian people. In fact, Netanyahu arranged for millions of dollars to be sent to Hamas so that they would challenge the Palestinian Authority and split power in the region. Hamas should not be excused, but it is also not evidence of Palestinian violence. This is what people do when you colonize and murder them for a century. Hamas is an inevitable consequence of Israel's colonialism.

I haven't seen any evidence that Hamas is prolonging this war. I'm not saying it's impossible but I've seen several ceasefire offers be accepted by Hamas and rejected by Israel. To me it doesn't look like Hamas is prolonging the war. But if you have more information about this please let me know and I will read it.

Also I just want to be clear that regardless of the goals of Hamas, they are still a resistance. They also commit acts of terrorism regularly and have a history of violent antisemitism, but they are still a resistance. It's also important to be aware that they are not the same organization that they were in the late 80s. Their current administration is much more moderate, and they no longer advocate for killing of Jewish people around the world. Their current goals are Palestinian liberation. They are open to a two state solution. That still doesn't make them the good guys to be clear. The point is not that Hamas are the good guys, it's that this genocide has been going on for a century. It did not start on October 7th. Hamas cannot be compared to the IDF. They do not have the power to commit any of the crimes that the IDF commits regularly. Israel has had the power, throughout it's entire existence, to end it's apartheid, to end it's occupation, to end the murders, to stop stealing resources and land.

I don't support Hamas, but the root cause of Hamas' violence is the colonial violence of Israel. To stop Hamas the century long genocide of Palestinians must stop.

Ok so I saw this tweet from Michael Tracey (a journalist who is both right wing and left wing at the same time according to my google searches - mind you i am literally southeast asian. i do not know these people).

This tweet claims Bernie Sanders (someone I rooted for president in 2016 and 2020- damn 2016 was 7 years ago... - because all the cool guys I follow on Twitter like him. and also he is anti-establishment and a guy who has a clothes hanger chair. from the news that I saw about him)

In the extended youtube cut released by Senator Bernie Sanders, he says Israel has a right to defend themselves against Hamas quoting "the youths killed in a dance party and the babies killed". But says also that this anger should not be taken on the Palestinians because half of them are children.

And now people on Twitter are quoting this saying ohhh I'm so disappointed in him, we should never trust politicians, what do you expect from a jewish-american guy who stayed in israel for a few years. That last statement I had to look up.

So yes, he is Jewish-American, and yes, he stayed in a commune in Israel in the 60s.

Fortunately I calmed down and clicked on her page. "He voted for it yesterday"- was referring to all US senators voting to pass resolution in support of Israel.

I understand her disappointment (you should not vote to support Israel, if you're against Israel bombing Palestinians, and Sanders is against that. Even if you're Jewish, as lots of Jewish-American people have been speaking out against Israel, and Bernie should not have voted for that, if he really is against Israel bombing Palestine. )

I also understand why Bernie would vote for a resolution supporting Israel (for one he lived there + he's an old Jewish American, I think older people would find it harder to disavow Israel).

So am I disappointed in Bernie? Yes, somewhat. Do I still root for him? Yes, somehow.

Maybe I'm not yet ready to accept that he is a politician. I'll just look at him with a side-eye. Idk. I think I need to read more to decide. Why should I care? Because US policies affect everybody?
