So since you've read the Japanese and English version (and are deeper in the trenches than I am) what's your take on how losing ears work. I know with Ritisuka's teacher she still has them cus she's a virgin but later it says its a matter of innocence so while it's possible it was a euphemism I wanna know if I'm trying to assign different reasons for something that isn't there. (Though tbh if innocence is an alternative feel like Ritsuka deffo should have lost his).

hiiiii oki so just fyi i’m not fluent in japanese or anything and i haven’t read the entire thing in japanese, just a few select parts, and mostly i’m trying on google translate heavily for assistance

but i do think it’s a strictly sexual thing. i think it’s a commentary on tying sexuality to adulthood and making value judgements on people based on their participation in cisheteronormative standards of sex and sexuality, as well as an exploration of how sexual abuse can be extremely obvious and people just won’t give a shit. i heard someone say something like “i think yun kouga put it in to prove there’s no sex going on between soubi and ritsuka” which i thought was….. interesting and probably not true but. lol. i thought it was worth mentioning.

i’m really not sure if the ears serve any other function besides flagging someone’s virginity. i do think it’s notable that the female zeroes are the ones that lose their names and thus have to forge their identities for themselves when there’s the (stupid) controversy of “is lesbian sex real sex”, so i think that that part is settled at the very least.

i heard from someone (i think tumblr user ritsukaaoyagi? idr) that yun once said that they come out like baby teeth which makes the tooth chapter like. 500 times weirder lmao but i don’t have like a specific source on that

i also think the conflation of virginity and innocence is interesting, as loveless notoriously does not play in absolutes and likes to let the grey morality of its characters simmer. seimei, notably, still has his ears despite being pretty directly responsible for a horrible sex crime. like nisei fucking sucks but the idea that he would be doing any of this shit without seimei is kind of laughable to me. he was like. a petty bully due to self esteem issues. seimei definitely made him worse, though to what end we still don’t really know. i think the innocence comment was a euphemism, loveless doesn’t really like saying “sex” despite its content revolving around it heavily. it took until mikado for the word “rape” to actually be said on screen, despite the like. literally everything about loveless. also i don’t actually remember the specific part you’re talking about haha but yeah

idk honestly, i rarely rewatch shows and if i do, it's typically bc i saw it a while ago and forgot what it was about or that i watched it at all. but if i had to choose one... i'd say either "kickin' it" or "glitter force: doki doki" bc i remember watching them quite a few times and they remind of my childhood a lot!!

ehhhh not really? OH WAIT ACTUALLY i have this snuggie(?) thing that my family sent me a few years back. it's like a blanket with a hood and it's orange with a dog face + ears on the hood part of it... it's definitely more on the childish side but it's surprisingly comfortable to sleep with

Happy Wednesday! Thanks @catanisspicy, @sanjuwrites, @carlos-in-glasses for the tags, as always! Here's a very abridged snippet of something from the next chapter come and take a walk on the wild side starring a trio that's slowly become my favorite.

“So,” Paul begins and Carlos can hear the suppressed laugh clearly. “How did your date with the fireman go? Was it, I don’t know, hot?” Paul chuckles to himself as Carlos realizes why Paul was sitting on the joke in the first place. 

Carlos stabs his fork into another piece of bowtie pasta, smiling at Paul as a courtesy. “You’re hilarious, Paul.” 

Paul twirls his fork into his linguine, smiling due to pride. “Hey, you don’t need to be me to notice that.”

“How’s Asha?” Carlos diverts the topic, not quite ready to talk about Thomas and what that conversation would entail.

“I’ll have you know she loves my jokes, thank you very much.” Paul nods his head, gesturing towards the front of the restaurant. “Look who’s decided to join us.” Carlos turns his head, looking towards the now opened front door. 

Marjan is walking in, her left hand juggling a purse that’s weighted down by a laptop and her right hand is sending off text messages at rapid speed. Marjan is the most frazzled Carlos has ever seen her but she still looks collected in a way that Carlos wishes he could attain. After ordering, she joins them at their table.

“We were wondering when we were going to be graced by your presence.” Carlos says. “Where have you been, we haven’t seen you all morning.” 

Marjan stares at her phone, deep in thought before her thumbs are fluttering across the keyboard and eventually locking her phone and putting it back in her purse. 

“I had to meet Stacy at the New York Historical Society bright and early this morning.” Marjan offers a soft thank you as Vinnie brings her water over.

“Get ready gentlemen, preparations for the annual third quarter gala hosted by Hartlock & Sons has officially begun. Well, they officially began as soon as the one last year ended but that’s nowhere near as fun to say.” Marjan's exhausted but the smile that's gracing her face shows that her excitement outweighs it.

“You seem excited, I never really took you for a gala type, well, gal.” Carlos thinks he should be embarrassed by the pun, but he can’t deny that it felt good. He looks at Paul, who’s grinning from ear to ear. “Okay, I get it.” 

Marjan comically frowns, looking back and forth between the two of them. “Alright, this is the last time I let you two do anything without me.”

obviously maroon/dark red has won but the defense for it and magenta/dark pink was heated on both sides, which i love. i think u guys should meet up in a parking lot somewhere to fight

the minority straight up red group was oddly silent! my hypothesis was maybe some people dont differentiate between "light red/dark red" and just call every shade "red"? idk!

the consensus seems to be definitely its Either maroon/dark red Or magenta/dark pink and it depends on the game/sprite/artwork, which is totally fair because thats just True lmao

other specific colors i saw in the notes: wine red, burgundy, mulberry, cool red (so, closer to pink than orange on the color wheel), the hex code b00b69 (which is canon to at least one of the images of miles),

and my personal favorite, ripe raspberry :)

Hey Gang

This is gonna be a more unique post than what I usually do but uhm...

See this guy? Black from Rodamrix. I'm gonna talk about them, because they're such a decently portrayed character in my own personal opinion and I believe they deserve more attention than what the fandom gives them (which is like... none.)

With the power of having autism and unnecessarily psycho-analyzing the jellybeans, I see Black as a pretty well assertive character. They're VERY expressive, loud, and is often strongly opinionated on things. If they have something to say, they'll say it. If they want something, they'll do what they can to get it. A decent majority of scenes of Black is them with the >0 expression and I love that aboutthem.

And as I rewatched Rodamrix for like the 2000th time, I noticed one thing.

Remember when I said they were very strongly opinionated on things? This is the one and ONLY time (as of now) Black has ever hesitated to make a decision, which is between voting Yellow or Green out. And when I watched this scene a dozen times, it always confused me because this was so incredibly out of character for Black. Black has been siding with Green this whole time, but suddenly hesitates when forced to decide between Green or Yellow. But why?

Not sure if anyone truly took much notice to this scene, because I for sure didn't. I stupidly saw it as just a "Glitch.Y is trying his best but his best isn't good enough for the crewmates," and I had assumed Black would of shrugged it off as "Man this kid is insane as hell whatever" BUT I DID NOT NOTICE they actually turned around to see the box Glitch.Y was pointing at.

Glitch.Y saved Black's life and they acknowledged it. Their ass got saved by a literal child he saw as a freak. And this is the first time we see them with a face of Genuine Worry.

YOU NEVER SEE THEM WITH THIS SORT OF GENUINE EXPRESSION AGAIN. UNLESS I'M JUST REALLY BLIND. BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME BLACK EXPRESSES GENUINE WORRY AND IT'S FOR GLITCH.Y. They've sided with Green this whole time but then has realised that just this once, Green was wrong about something, which was Glitch.Y trying to kill them all. And Black Worried. For once they hesitated, and couldn't bring themself to make such a decision.

And that's just one thing about Black. Small detail, really. They had a moment of hesitation for the first time. Oh well. BUT THAT'S NOT ALL.

Green, who is the Skeld Leader goes missing, right? That was their LEADER. They are now without a leader. And who is the first to take initiative and act as next leader?

BLACK DOES.

Yellow tries to take the initiative first, but is torn when Dr White assumes Glitch.Y and Green already dead, so Black immediately takes the lead instead. Black becomes the new, temporary leader for the team when they go to look for Glitch.Y and Green.

They even stand at the front of the team, willing to go forth before them all which would put themself at the most risk. And this isn't arrogance either, they do it GENUINELY. They even waited for Yellow's word before they start walking. They even gave each other the nod to proceed.

And they do a pretty decent job at leading too. They take after Green pretty well, in my opinion.

Altogether, I just feel like Black is a well fleshed out character, especially for someone who's sidelined for the entirety of the series. Everyone talks about Tan, a lot talk about Lime, which both deserve the attention they get of course, but I feel like Black is the most fleshed out side-character in the entire series.

I appreciate how much effort Rodamrix puts into Black's personality. I do hope Cyan gets a bit of a character arc too though. I like to see Black as Cyan to be really close, especially since they share similar personality traits. I just hope the fandom comes to appreciate Black more for his character in the series.

(They were actually the last to die out of the Skeld team which I found interesting. Gives into the idea they could've potentially made it out alive had it not been a 2v1. The only reason they got stopped and killed was because Purple came in as they barely escaped Pink.)

(Fun fact, Black's role in the Skeld is actually guarding*, so it'd make sense they watched outside while the others worked to fix the dropship)

(I like how Green looks directly to Black here honestly, might be a part of why Black tends to take after them. Green gives them the their attention first KYEHEHE)

(bro looks like they're trying to intimidate Purple over actually trying to stop them BEHEHEHE)

I made this poll like, 60% because I wanted stats and 35% because I wanted justice for Isabel Lovelace being beaten by Cecil back last winter. I'm really really proud she won the Scripted Bracket, which was more than I could have asked for. (Cecil also beat Glenn Close in Round 1 of that previous tournament, so I'm glad Carlos won the Night Vale bracket so that we can see a different showdown.)
