A notorious zoo in North West England is finally closing at the end of the year, long time coming as they've had severe publicised problems since 2017 including animals harming themselves on hazards in their cages, needless accidental deaths, and the zoo not paying for food for the animals. The last one was corroborated by a local supermarket who said keepers would beg unsellable or damaged fruit and veg for the animals. Recently there's also been allegations of abuse and bullying within the human team, which isn't surprising when you consider the strain on them.
I was extremely happy when I saw the news and have been keeping up with planned placements for the animals in the area's local paper. Made the mistake of reading the comments, which was a waste of time, turns out far from being concerned about the animals these weirdos are convinced a 'woke lefty mob' caused this? I get that animal rights activists who are anti all zoos are always the first to celebrate these things, and possibly could be described as a woke lefty mob if that's your bent, but in this case there's no way only fully anti captivity people would be against this place. It was SO bad. If you followed the case at all, pictures of the animals with sores and injuries were very hard to avoid.
As someone who visited the zoo c2007 before the publicised troubles when it got really really bad, and in that one visit witnessed an animal escape which I'd never seen anywhere before or since (and it seemed like it happened regularly at this zoo from the reactions of the staff), I have always been baffled by people defending this place, and I suppose it makes sense some of them have to use their fav words to justify it. I guess now it's a culture war whether animals in captivity should be safe from injury and death caused by negligent care. That's depressing.

A complete guide to how the asexual community is NOT lying about the pathologization of asexuality and how many aces(even young ones)have had their asexuality tried to be“fixed” and “converted back to normalcy”
Trigger warning : Conversion therapy,abuse
As if the so called ace “”discourse””( which has till now involved aphobes and exclusionists comparing ace people to nazis, pedophiles, white supremacists, slave owners, homophobes,  ,talking over ace WOC by white people, telling ace people AND kids to kill themselves, victim blamig and gaslighting ace victims of rape, putting extremely graphic sexual content into asexual tags and sending sexual content to ace minors and adults who are are suffering from sexual trauma even after they told them to STOP ) could not get any worse, we now have these pathetic excuses of human beings accusing ace people of lying about their trauma and abuse just so that they can justify their harassing of ace people.
Im TIRED of seeing these “”highly intellectual people”” keeps repeating bullshit arguments so im gonna make this post addled with appropriate resources and links to handle these two topics:
How asexuality is pathologized
Can the abuse and trauma ace people go through when people try to “convert ace people back to normalcy” and “fix” their asexuality really be called “conversion therapy”?
This is gonna be long, but i hope you will stick with me though this because im going to try as much as possible to make this as source-fuilled and educational for yall. So here we go:
1. Has asexuality really been pathologized?
Short answer,Yes.  Many mental health professionals had consideredasexuality an illness throughout history. There are many articles talking about it.Up till 2013, indicators of asexuality like lack of sexual attraction, sexual fantasies towards other people, lack of interest in sex etc were basically classified as Hypoactive sexual desire disorder in the DSM which was revised just to include that all those indicators WOULD be considered as a “symptom” of HSDD unless a person self identified as “asexual” which wasnt much useful since not everyone(especially young people) might know that they are ace and can be pressured by their peers into going through the “treatment” for HSDD .They did the same thing before they removed homosexuality from the DSM.
Heres the long answer :
Throughout history , asexuality has brought out bigots to talk about how “unnatural” it is and how it obviously is a “mental illness/disorder” bc experiencing sexual attraction is always considered an inherent experience to almost all living beings. There are many medical and psychological articles either directly referring to asexuality as a disorder or referring its main indicators like “lack of sexual attraction, sexual feelings towards other people”etc as a mental disorder.
But the most well known instance of pathologization of asexuality is the  HSDD (Hypoactive sexual desire disorder). It has been in both The International Classification of Diseases and  Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders both which are used by mental health professionals and psychologists to diagnose people.
There was a huge pushback against HSDD by asexual activists bc it categorized all indicators of asexuality like lack of sexual attraction, sexual fantasies towards other people and lack of sexual desire etc as a disorder. As a result,  asexuality was officially given an exception in the DSM-V by stating that if a person experiencing all the symptoms of HSDD self ID’d as asexual then they wont be diagnosed with it.This seemed a good enough thing to do and acephobes keep bringing it up to show how “different HSDD is from asexuality” and how “The medical world has “”accommodated”” itself for the comfort of ace people” but this act and the whole concept of a “Hypoactive sexual desire disorder” are considered problematic and have been put through questions not only by ace people, but feminists and activists too . Heres why :
1. The person STILL has to identify as asexual to be not diagnosed.Asexuality still isnt as visible and well known of an orientation so  if a person doesn’t know that they’re asexual, the DSM does no work to sufficiently differentiate between these “sexual disorders” and a sexual identity. so it could very well happen that someone who doesn’t know that theyre asexual is convinced by a therapist that they have a sexual abnormality that needs to be corrected(x)  .Taking into consideration the fact that a lack of sexual attraction is still seen as a sign of “brokenness” etc , the aphobia ace people face from their peers, how sex is seen an inherent part of one’s relationship and the immense number of ace people who experience internalized aphobia, theres a higher chance of ace people being pressurized into lying about not being ace and being made to go through treatment of HSDD .
2. The asexuality exception is not included in the diagnostic criteria, but a different part of the text. The desk reference version, which is the smaller version most psychiatrists will use because the actual DSM is a monster of a book, only contains the diagnostic criteria. So, unless a doctor is very familiar with the update DSM, you could still be diagnosed despite identifying as asexual. (X)
3.The DSM is put out by the APA, an American organization and is not used internationally in ALL countries. The international appx. equivalent to the DSM is the ICD (International Classification of Diseases) where an exception of asexuality is NOT made like they did in DSM-V. So many countries where DSM-V is not followed are free to diagnose ace people with almost no repercussions.
4.There is till NO distinction made between HSDD and asexuality and all indicators of asexuality are still considered “symptoms” of HSDD. the DSM does no work to sufficiently differentiate between these “sexual disorders” and a sexual identity. so it could very well happen that someone who doesn’t know that they’re asexual is convinced by a therapist that they have a sexual abnormality that needs to be corrected(x) Just putting “All these signs are of HSDD unless a person identifies as asexual” is literally the same as saying “Being attracted to the same gender and/or being attracted to more than two genders is a disorder unless a person identifies as gay/bi”.In fact a very very similar thing was done to homosexuality in the DSM before homosexuality was deleted off entirely as a disorder.
5.Im not even gonna get into the fact that alot of people have pointed out how  the big push to keep HSDD in the DSM came from the pharmaceutical companies who need this diagnosis to exist so thatthey can market a drug called Flibanserin and both of these thingshave been called out by both ace as well as non ace feminists bc studies showed it improved very little in terms of sexual satisfaction in its participants and has potentially big risks(x) and  MANY women disinterested in sex(weather ace or not) were pressurized to undergo treatment of HSDD and use flibanserin bc of the misogynist belief that women need to put out more than care about their safety white taking it bc thats not the point of this post.
But just for yalls consideration : Just bc there is a disorder in the DSM doesnt mean that its legit.Female hysteria, homosexuality were considered disorders. As an amazing post here said : “until psychology stops operating in terms of “inappropriate behavior” and starts looking at patients’ experiences of symptoms as stressful and unpleasant, it will be an enforcement of ableism first and an aid to the mentally ill last.”  . Unless someone goes through some trauma which make them LOSE their capability to feel sexual attraction and desire,i’ll consider any “disorder” which automatically assumes lack of sexual attraction and desire “unnatural”, as doubtful .
So  yeah , asexuality still technically remains pathologized and ace people still are at a risk of being diagnosed and being forced/pressurized to undergo treatments which arent usually even that effective and have health risks associated with them.On to the next topic :
2.Can ace people call the trauma and abuse they went through  when people tried to “convert ace people back to normalcy” and “fix” their asexuality  “conversion therapy”?
First off, Read THIS And THIS. Now,
Short answer,Yes. Maybe they might not be under the threat of going through the EXACT conversion therapy which involves basically torture and is legal in like 36/41 states IN AMERICA but then again, so arent those gay people who didnt/dont/wont be living/going to those 36/41 states IN AMERICA but have/are/will be  tried to be “converted back to” straightness by their peers.Any way in which non straight people are forced/pressurized to be converted into straight by so called “professionals” and “medical experts” counts as conversion therapy to me bc at the end of the day it doesnt really matter WHAT word you define it as when those trying to “fix” non straight people’s non straightness view those non straight people as someone who needs “fixing”.
Also, saying that ace people’s experience when their peers were trying to “fix” their asexuality isnt AS bad as what gay people go through when their gayness is tried to be “fixed” is…not a good thing to say.Trauma isnt a competition.Telling a person with a sprained leg that another person has a  fractured leg doesnt make the first person’s sprained leg hurt any less
Heres the long answer :
Here is the thing. The most “well known”  conversion therapy(and in aphobes’ case, the conversion therapy they keep bringing up to discourage ace people from calling their trauma involving attempts to fix them “conversion therapy” ) is the one which is legal in 36 or 41(The data keeps differing from diff sources) states in AMERICA ONLY and basically involves showing homoerotic images and videos to gay/bi people and inflicting some sort of violence/harm on them when them and/or their mind and/or their body shows any sort of interest on such images till they form an aversion to same gender attraction and other forms of torture.I described it as PG rated as possible but if anyone is interested and is NOT at the risk of being triggered they can read the whole process here(x).
Aphobes keep arguing that since no clinic advertises that they will “convert ace people back to normalcy” ,and even IF some ace person IS forced to undergo treatment of HSDD ,their experience doesnt matches the EXACT amount of abuse and trauma gay people go through during conversion therapy, aces arent “allowed” to call their experiences “conversion therapy”.Now , anyone with common sense and general morality will realize how bullshit this is bc aphobes are just putting their american centric rhetorics over ALL aces in THIS WORLD(bc they are ALWAYS considering the american conversion therapy)but i’ll still just prove how WRONG this argument is :
1.This argument is only AMERICA CENTRIC.Aphobes keep saying that since ace people dont go through the exact conversion therapy which is legal in 36/41 states in america, they cant call it “conversion therapy”.Now america is only one country. There are 193 countries in this world. The “valid”Conversion therapy is only there in america. But HOMOPHOBIA is there in ALL countries of this world. Now, If we consider aphobes’ argument as legit, then it would imply that any gay person who suffered through the trauma and abuse of having their identity turned into “straight” by their peers in any country OTHER THAN AMERICA CANNOT call their experiences “Conversion therapy”.That means all the gay people who faced torture in russia (especially in Chechnya)to be “fixed” cannot call their experiences “conversion therapy”.Gay people in Brazil and Jamaica who are tried to be “fixed” cannot call their experiences conversion therapy.I live in south asia,we dont even HAVE any special places dedicated to “convert” gay people. But there are many instances where gay people are hauled to the nearest “religious medical practitioners” who abuse and torture them for WEEKS to “cure” them.I guess those gay people cant even call their experiences “conversion therapy”.THIS IS HOW RIDICULOUS APHOBES SOUND.
2.Not every ace conversion therapy is caused by going through the treatment of HSDD : There are many ace people who have been told that it was their asexuality ITSELF that was a disorder and went through abusive therapies to “cure” it which led to some people ending up self-isolating until they ended up in a psych hospital and some people felt broken and alone after that(x).Many health professionals simply pass off asexuality as some  symptomatic of deeper mental health problem and thus not every ace who might have been tried to be “converted back to normalcy” might have been gone through quite a rough treatment too.
3.Telling people that their trauma isnt “”really that bad”” isnt a good thing.Telling them that their trauma  dosent really “”qualify”” enough to be considered “”real”” conversion therapy isnt good.Oppression and traumas arent a competition. The abuse and torture gay people go through during conversion therapy isnt gonna make the trauma ace people go through “better” or less severe.Telling women that “at least they arent being human trafficked and beaten by their husbands everyday like in middle east” isnt gonna make them feel better when they are catcalled or sexually harassed at work.If ace people are tried to be “”fixed”” by being forced/pressurized undergo “” treatments”” by so called “professionals” and “medical experts” , it counts as conversion therapy to me bc at the end of the day, ace people’s orientation is still being seen as “something to be fixed into straightness”.
So yeah, ace people CAN call all the abuse they go through to be “fixed” of their asexuality “conversion therapy”.Now that we are done, here are a few examples of ace people talking about their fears and/or experiences about conversion therapy which i havent provided already
If you really want to respect lgbtqa people who have gone through conversion therapy, try to make this world a better place for lgbtqa people so that their identity isnt seen as something to be fixed.Telling group of people you are bigoted against that they cant call their experiences of tried to be fixed “conversion therapy” isnt gonna do SHIT to help the community you think you are trying to protect.Saying that No ace person has EVER went to conversion therapy bc there are “valid proofs” is disgusting.
Asexuality IS a highly marginalized orientation and all your refutes against it WILL be debunked and shot down bc we have sources and real people’s accounts on our sides which is supported by many prominent lgbtqa organizations across the world. All aphobes have is bigotry and a bunch of followers who eat up whatever they say without applying any critical thinking skills to it.

Hey everyone, My name is Michael I'm a 16-year-old unfortunate climate activist, who coordinates strikes in Israel. You know, I used to be a very loving individual, I used to love lots of stuff. Stuff’s lovely. I love the feeling of fresh air, I love babies and their cute little noses and most of all I love the human smile. But unfortunately, I haven't been able to Smile genuinely recently. I have started to hate quite a lot of things honestly. For example, I hate the idea that I have to be on stages trying my best to convince that climate change is important enough to act against. Its not just important it’s necessary. Climate change is a fact. A fact is something that is not supposed to be debate about. I hate the fact that people debate about climate change, I hate the fact that the parties in Israel do not include our demands in their political agenda towards the election. That has taken my smile away. That’s why I started to be a climate activist. My sole motivation is to try to bring my smile back, and that's why I participated in SMILE this year, and what place is better to try to get a smile back than SMILE itself. For people who haven't heard of SMILE, because the Israeli media does not evaluate the event enough, it is the climate summit of Fridays for Future. Summer Meeting IN Lausanne Europe, or simply SMILE, which had over 450 attendees from over 38 countries. In Smile, I participated in 5 days of long discussions about climate change, the science and moreover with the people. After five extremely emotional days, we passed the climate declaration of Lausanne and the demands, which are to keep the global temperature rise below 1.5 Celsius compared to pre-industrialized levels ensure climate justice and equity listen for the best available united science Here is something that I haven’t really opened up before. I have recently moreover of hating I have started to feel a bit stressed and climate anxious. And At the conference, I also met others who were climate anxious. There were people suffering from mass depression caused by climate anxiety. And it is not only me, or 10 people or a fraction of the conference or even all the participants. no. In the US alone climate anxiety was listed as the 4th most frequent reason for depression. And I understand that.I have experienced that first hand, when I have had to go sleepless nights of studying the Paris agreement and the IPCC report. I have had to read over literally a 1000 pages of scientific studies and university material, while a high school student. High School students and teens are not meant to do that. At all. I have had to skip school and suffer from pressure and work stress as a 16-year-old without any pay because the adults who are getting paid are not doing the right thing. I really sincerely do not understand, who would want to put on a child the pressure of “the world, our existence and everything we call life is on your responsibility” and if we don't act, I would personally feel one to blame. And that's why I hate. I hate the fact that 250 000 people are dying every year because of climate change, I hate the fact that we are risking over several hundreds of millions of people to poverty and death, I hate the fact that my kid who hasn't been born yet, statistically has a realistic possibility of dying malnourishment or lack of water and if he continues to live he will never see the magnificent coral reefs of Eilat because all the coral reefs are expected to go extinct. I hate the fact that climate change is an ecological, economic, humanitarian and now a mental health-related crisis. And we really don't have any time left. You know, I article to a friend of mine and she asked me why do I worry about my children so much? Why don’t I worry nor mention me. What happens to me in 10 years. By the time we reach 2030 I'm going to be 27. The answer is because I don't know. I don't think about it, because I am 16 I don't know what do I want to do in 2 years time, I don't know what do I want to do in the army or after or what I'm going to be or where Im going to be. Most teens don’t know because they are teens and it makes them anxious. and Instead of worrying about where I should go in the army I have to worry about literally the future of the world and the future of the next generation. Its devastating and I’m not going to start urging politicians here or anywhere to start acting. A lot of times I hear climate activists in this region praying for actions from their politicians in a tone of I apologizing, but In my opinion its the time for climate activists become more bold and unapologetic. Change is coming whether you like it or not and We literally don’t have time waste. I just want to go to school, get a uni degree and have a steady life, but apparently in the 21 century that is way too much to ask. I want to be able to smile and continue to love but I have been left no other options than to hate. Please bring my smile back. There is a lot of things we can do. The only right thing is to get into net-zero carbon emission as fast as possible. Just follow the scientists. That’s all we want. This is my individual story and motivation of activism. SMILE was wonderful and I’m sure we are going to enjoy lot more of them in the future. While writing this article I decided to open up about my own climate anxiety and after writing it I made another version in a form of a speech, which I performed in front of the a very authoritative political candidate in Israel- the party leader of kahol laval, who is projected to possibly win the election this year. My name is Michael Bäcklund and if any of the readers would like to get in contact, discuss climate anxiety or share their views with me, feel more than free to direct message or follow me on instagram of twitter @mina_mihku

Hey all, so it’s Alex again this time bring you my little angry chihuahua Lucky. It’s been a hot minute since I last wrote him and I’ve made a couple of changes to make him fit the RP’s premise better so I’m still trying to work out a few of the new details. He’s kind of the worst and I hate him already but he’s also one of my all time favourite muses to write so please come love him. Also if you’re looking for angst, look no further since he’s basically a vessel for all of those plots. As always like this post if you want to plot or anything and I’ll come bother you, or just pop up in my IMs or on Discord!

「 LEE MINHYUK, CISMALE, 26, BRING ME THE HORIZON 」┈ did you read that latest viral gossip issue on JIHUN ‘LUCKY’ PARK?  he is the LEAD GUITARIST/BACKING VOCALIST in DAYBREAKER, one of my favorite ALTERNATIVE ROCK groups. they’ve been releasing music for EIGHT YEARS now, but viral gossip has only been talking about them for the last THREE YEARS. get this, i think i heard HE ANONYMOUSLY LEAKS STORIES (INCLUDING OCCASIONAL FAKES) ABOUT HIMSELF TO THE MEDIA IN ORDER TO KEEP HIS BAND RELEVANT. they’re known as the FIREBRAND of the music industry, since they have a rep for being  LOYAL but QUICK TEMPERED, but who knows. maybe that will change once they become #1.

I’ve accidentally written a small novel again, so I’m going to split it down into four key sections. Personality, Personal History, Career History and Other. I’ll also just throw a tl;dr at the top because good grief is this a lot. His plots page is here if anyone is interested, so if something catches your eye please come shout at me!

tl;dr
Kind of antisocial guitarist in a metalcore turned alt-rock band. Raised in the UK. Punk af. Really short fuse that gets him into a lot of trouble. Sees the music industry as a game and knows how to play. Every move and response is calculated. Plays up to the media perception of him as some sort of villain. Doesn’t really trust people, especially if they’re famous. Super jaded, super bitter, super cynical. Rich parents who were never around. developed a drinking problem after being signed. Involved in a serious traffic accident shortly after third albums release that led to the loss of his left leg. parents paid to bury the story. relocated to america and checked himself into a rehab clinic. first album was a flop. second and third better. fourth blew them up. really doesn’t like where the sound is heading for five, but feels like he owes his band mates so is sticking it out. has a three piece side project that is highly political (27club VC: The Fever 333).

PERSONALITY:
Firstly, and most importantly, Luck doesn’t like you. Lucky has never liked you, and he probably never will. He might respect you, or even be kind of neutral towards you, but never more than that.
There are very few exceptions to that rule, with the main ones being his bandmates and his siblings.
Has some serious self loathing that he’d never actually admit to.
Lucky considers himself a punk, an activist and a musician. In that order.
Has been describes as a journalist’s wet dream and a lawyers nightmare.
Values authenticity above all else. Both his and other peoples. Despises people who are fake (lol irony) and hates it eve more when other people call him fake.
Calling him a sell out or anything along those lines is probably not a good idea.
His first instinct is that people are only trying to get close to him to take advantage of his success and popularity. Probably because he does exactly the same thing to everyone else.
Loyal to a fault. If by some miracle you make it into his inner circle he’d actually take a bullet for you. He’ll always have your back.
The fact that he is so short tempered causes him so many problems? It doesn’t take much to light the fuse, and when he explodes things tend to get messy.
Which means that a lot of people are kind of scared off? And the ones that aren’t are just as volatile as him.
Absolutely no filter. Lucky will tell you exactly what he’s thinking or what he means with no regards for the consequences or your feelings.
Voted most likely to start a fistfight over something dumb five years in a row. Still holds the title.
Comes across as kind of frosty and callous even when he’s trying not to.
Has a serious problem with people taking advantage of others.
He is painted as kind of a villain type character in the media? But like, the villain you love to hate. I don’t know what the international equivalent is, but I’m thinking sort of like Trent Reznor in the 90s?  Kind of plays up to that trope, but he pretty much fits the label without trying.
Does not know what a healthy relationship looks like. Platonic, romantic, even familial: there’s always a catch.

PERSONAL HISTORY:
Brace yourself for this because my boy has not had a smooth ride.
Jihun was born is Daegu, South Korea but moved to the UK (Specifically Sheffield) before he was old enough to start retaining memories.
The second eldest child of two property tycoons with more time and concern for their business than their family, he was never close to his parents.
Childhood wasn’t exactly unhappy. His grades were decent enough to get by and having seven siblings meant that he was never without company. Despite hiring staff to watch over them, Lucky kind of grew up fast and felt a sort of almost parental responsibilty
As time went on and their parents became more and more distant from him and his siblings, he slowly grew to resent them.
By the time he reached his teenage years, Jihun began to see exactly how his parents did business. Shady backroom deals. Questionable partners. Bullying or bribing their way out of any trouble.
They weren’t exactly good people.
He’d become increasingly jaded, bitter and cynical beyond his years and isolated himself from the few friends he had outside of the family.
He was convinced that they were only trying to get close to him because of his family’s money: After seeing how corrupt his parents were he’d lost a lot of faith in most people.
It was around this time that he also discovered his love of punk rock.
The scene in Sheffield was pretty small, but he instantly connected with the anti-establishment values and aesthetics. He threw himself in head first.
It didn’t take long for him to teach himself guitar (Four chords and the truth) and form the band that would go on to become Daybreaker. [See: Career History]
Though things started off well enough. They played shows, eventually got signed to a new small imprint of Universal and began releasing material.
Over the course of several years however, Lucky got himself involved in some pretty serious stuff. What started as casual drink quickly transformed into a cru to help deal with his new found fame. He developed a serious problem with alcohol.
Between the pressures of effectively raising his family, maintaining a career as a full time musician and trying to fit into a scene that was, he now realise, extremely toxic, he struggled to cope.
The sheer catharsis of punk rock had proved to be an effective coping mechanism, but for Lucky it had already reached its limits and so he sought solace elsewhere.
It reached a point where he was having his stomach pumped on a regular basis.
The turning point came one night in November 2014. Lucky was considerably over the blood-alcohol limit, and shouldn’t have been walking let alone driving.
And yet he found himself behind the wheel of their tour van with a member of their road crew in the passenger seat.
They were involved in a serious collision: a head-on crash with an oncoming truck. Frankly neither of them should have survived, but the passenger escaped with a few broken bones.
Jihun wasn’t quite so fortunate. As well as several broken ribs and a skull fracture, his left leg had to be amputated below the knee. With the aid of a prosthetic was eventually able to walk again, but it was the hardest period of his life.
He didn’t talk to anyone for the first three weeks of his recovery. Just sat there expressionless.
When he’d first come around after the surgery and he was informed of what had happened he was told that he was lucky to be alive, let alone that he would be able to walk again. It was a them that kept resurfacing throughout the recovery process and one that has stuck with him ever since Hence why he goes by Lucky.
Once he was back in the world, something began to bother him. There had been no coverage of the accident despite him being a relatively prominent public figure.
As it turns out, that was his parents doing. They’d paid to get the story buried as well as any and all charges that could have been levelled against him.
They would later claim that this was for the benefit of his career, but Lucky remained fairly certain it was to keep their names away from the bad press.
Since then his relationship with them has been complicated. He still doesn’t approve of their methods, but they also potentially saved his career. And could ruin it at any moment.
Needless to say it proved quite the sobering experience. Lucky knew that he needed to get clean, and so checked himself into a rehab clinic in LA. This was probably the second most difficult period of his life.
He completed the program and decided to relocate to America permanently. Hollywood was probably not the best place for him, but it was a damn sight better than Sheffield.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________
CAREER HISTORY:
And now that all the trauma and angst is out of the way, lets talk about angry music.
Lucky’s first band, RedBtn, were awful. I mean truly terrible. Sure they were only 14 at the time, but the bassist could barely play and the vocalist couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket.
Needless to say they were not together for very long. It was long enough to spark a passion for performance in Lucky, and two years later he went on to form the group later known as Daybreaker.
They were marginally better. Gathering a small following in their hometown, their scrappy, rough around the edges take on metalcore was heavier than most other bands on the market.
Something else that set them aside was their aesthetics. It made them almost like black sheep of the scene. They looked too polished to be accepted by the hardcore kids, but sounded far too aggressive for a more mainstream audience.
This was a pattern that would continue until late into their career.
Someone saw something in them though, and it didn’t take long before they were signed to  a small imprint of Universal.
Despite having some devoted fans, including Lucky), their first record (A proxy of Count Your Blessings) was almost universally panned. It was a Christmas miracle that they weren't immediately dropped.
By the time the second album (A proxy of Suicide Season) came around they were widely regarded as posers and dismissed by the rock community at large.
It was around this time that Lucky realized that the music industry was one big game, and in order to get anywhere they’d need to learn how to play.
From that moment on every action and potential response was calculated with a ruthless efficiency.
Every friendship, relationship, public appearance, quote, photograph. Everything was optimized to increase their presence and make them more visible.
And so Lucky decided that the best way to get more eyes on them was to cause controversy. As the defacto spokesperson he started showing a more confrontational side to the press, calling out critics and fans alike.
He would leak stories about himself anonymously.
Eventually he would take this characterization t the extreme. He has been pictured in physical altercations as well as the subject of a defamation suit all to keep their brand relevant.
The media began to paint them as villains: a band turning on their own scene with no regard for their peers or their fanbase.
He’d taken complete control of the narrative, and they were eating out of the palm of his hand.
It tended to divide people. You either loved Lucky, or you hated him.
It definitely worked though. The album received (Admittedly still muted) praise and secured their future for at least one ore album cycle.
It was during the production of their third album (A proxy  for the one with the stupidly long title) that Lucky went through his dark phase. The rest of the band remained mostly sober whilst he struggled.
He doesn’t remember much of the recording process and doesn’t really know the songs. If they ever slip one into the setlist, he has to go back and re learn it.
This was also the point in time where his relationship with the press began to sour. Whereas he had previously tried to pull attention towards him, at this point he hated the invasiveness.
They began reporting that he may have had a problem, and he furiously denied it, going so far as to issue take down notices and cease and desist orders.
Of course it only served to boost their infamy, and the album was their first to be widely lauded. They were on their way to major league success.
And then, one night in the middle of a November UK tour, the accident happened.
The tour was cancelled due to a ‘family emergency’ and the band went into a media blackout. Despite his insistence that they simply replace him and carry on, they waited until he had recovered before emerging into the spotlight once more.
After Lucky decided to permanently relocate to the US he was sure that, as much as he’d valued his time with the band, their time together was over. Imagine his shock then, when some of them decided to follow him.
Shortly after completing rehab, Lucky locked himself away in the studio, working on what would later be dubbed the crown jewel of their discography (A proxy for Sempiternal). The album detailed a lot of his struggles in a very coded way.
With lost time to make up for, Lucky returned to the character of the music industry’s cartoon super villain. He once again began leaking stories about himself to the press anonymously, fabricating many of the details.
There were certain topics that remained off limits. The accident. His addiction. His stint in rehab. Anything and everything else was fair game.
The record relaunched them into public consciousness in a bigger way than ever before.
Currently the band are at work on their fifth album (A proxy of That’s The Spirit) which is shaping up to become an even more commercial sounding album.
Lucky isn’t entirely on board. In fact he hates it, and considers it to be selling out their core values. But at the same time, he feels an obligation to see it out.
His bandmates had risked their careers and stuck their necks on the line for him: who was he to throw that away because a guitar tone isn’t distorted enough
Because of this, Lucky decided to put together a side project. A supergroup of sorts (Although if he were to hear you call it that he’d seriously kick off.). A three piece punk rock band, 27club are a super high energy, extremely political group combining straight up hardcore with rap influences (VC: The Fever 333) [SIDEBAR: If y’all haven’t listened to letlive or The Fever 333 and you like rock music you're missing out. Jason Butler is the best singer of this generation Change my mind.]
Daybreaker will always take priority, but this gives him an outlet for angrier music, as well as a place to air his political leanings outside of interviews.
