ive been thinking ab joel's final death sm since i watched his episode and im gonna get tism about it

Disclaimer that i DID realise some of this from another post but i cannot for the life of me remember who it was from aaa

SO! Lets look at all the other winners' deaths first. and lets take the context of minecraft out of this, esp for when we get to joel's Grian - Jumped off a cliff. Simple and effective, but also quick considering he was low health and had no armour. In a real life version, he probably would have broken his neck and died instantly Scott - Struck by lightning. I know technically it was the Watchers, but 'divine intervention' isn't exactly an IRL cause of death, nor are 'kill commands' from a non-story pov, so we'll stick with the lightning. ANYWAY, yes, lightning. In terms of death, it stops the heart. So, pretty fast, but definitely painful Pearl - Exploded. Once again, technically that's not her actual C.O.D but once again, soulmates do not exist (in the same capacity as DL, at the very least) in real life, so we're going with this. Because of how close Pearl was to Scott when he set off the TNT, she likely would've died from internal organ damage, possibly even having her heart muscle walls rupture, plus any additional damage from the schrapnel that no doubt wouldve hit her (although she definitely would've already been dead by that point). Alternatively, you could say she died of 'Heartbreak' (because her soulbound died), which I'd probably compare to a heart attack. While you can't say for certain how long the explosion death wouldve taken because of the variables, a heart attack has an upper limit, so to speak, of about 3-4 hours. Unless we're talking about Sudden Cardiac Death which is, as you might expect, instantaneous suspension of heart activity. It's pretty interesting that both of Pearl's death possibilities link back to her heart in some way in DL, but I digress Martyn - Same as Scott's lmao Scar - He's actually the only one, to my knowledge, who did not die. Which, again, is very interesting when you tie it back to his Earth (? i think? i forget lmao) association. hes not allowed to die

NOW we look at joel. Teleportation is, naturally, not a thing we can do irl (at least currently lmfaoo), so there's not an easy way to compare it like with the others. BUT that doesnt mean we can't do our damn best first, teleportation is what kept Joel alive for so long during part of the session. The fact that he uses the very thing that saved his life for so long to end it is just beautifully symbollic. not to mention the way he was laughing and making fun of his literal hunters as there were at least 5 or 6 people trying to kill him at any given point despite the fact that the entire episode he was nervous and worried about dying last minute is so painfully joel. but lets look at the actual contents of his death for a minute. Joel dies from fall damage after repeatedly throwing enderpearls into the air. He does not remove his armour for this and is at almost full health. He is, effectively, torturing himself. In minecraft, you can throw an enderpearl directly up into the air about 30 blocks. since he was throwing them forwards, as well, we'll say its only going up 25. that would still be 25 square metres, and almost 270,00 feet. but, obviously, we're taking liberties here because it's minecraft, so lets just say its 25 feet. Still, that is an insane number. That is half the length of a basketball court, the width of about four cars (on average) and four fridges (again, on average) stacked on top of eachother. And he does this (by my count) seven times in a row before dying. Everyone else died instantly in game, and more-or-less instantly from a real life standpoint, as well If that doesn't put in perspective how violent Joel's death was, i dunno what could

-outlaw's ability is essentially artificer if instead of explosions it was electricity, hence the arcs of electricity coming from her tail + the electric spear -dragonslayer's ability is a stronger concussive blast that is extra effective against lizards, but he tends to get a bit cocky with it (his tail scars and missing ear bit were both from red lizards) -arbiter didnt get the explosive genes from arti, but she did get the strength of both her and hunter. her claws are sharper than the average slugcat, making them viable for combat, and due to having two red parents, she's massive and very aggressive (but compassionate to her friends and family)

Final Doctor Who TV Movie Thoughts

incredibly homosexual undercurrents. why’s the master Like That. they had to be doing that on purpose. i mean, just the robes alone. he dresses for the occasion. oh there’s definitely queercoding here. also he got tardis vored. nuwho bring up that time he got tardis vored challenge. no im not being weird about it i just want him to describe to the doctor what being digested by a time machine was like. did he enjoy it. wait come back i have more things to say about the movie-

eight is a sopping wet cat. i understand why he is beloved. i too wish to wrap him in a warm towel and/or beat him with hammers. he’s adorable. he’s fun. once again, somehow they managed to find a perfect guy to cast as the doctor. how do they do that. not a single miss so far??? out of the seven i’ve met??? not one????? incredible. loved his little vest, loved his humming, loved how he had absolutely zero chill ever and did not know how to Not talk about being a freak alien man, loved that he had amnesia for all of like seven minutes for no reason.

i really liked grace and lee. grace is a great straight man to the doctor’s bouncy nonsense, and she saved the day by figuring out the tardis :D also swerved the bullet of loving that man, thank GOD. get out of there girl. you saw what his ex was like. lee is my favorite kind of doctor who character, of which right now the category is him and lucy saxon. the master’s temp companions <3 love when that awful terrible man has to play nice to achieve his goals. love when he has to bond with people against his will. also hilarious to me that lee was just like ‘no, i really am just in this cause he’s gonna give me money and power.’ and the movie says he is RIGHT to want this, just wrong for trusting the master to give it to him, so he gets it in the end. good for him. direct action.

the plot was bonkers nonsense and that made it better. so funny to me that they retconned in the doctor being half-human but it never comes up as plot relevant ever and it will never be mentioned again. the eye of harmony is <3 bless <3 so fucking stupid <3 whys it take a human to open it. why can you open it when all it seems to do is suck up planets and time lord lives. why do they even have that lever. there’s like a horrifying implication here that time lords would keep a human onboard just so that they’d have a way to open their tardis’s eye of harmony. same energy as having a canary for your coal mine. i know this wasn’t intentional but it’s just fucked up enough that i almost want it to be canon despite it being so stupid, if only because it adds another layer to the doctor mostly seeming to gravitate towards human companions. but probably best if, like a lot of things this movie decides should be canon, we ignore it.

we shouldn’t ignore the master being able to goop people with his spit though. that’s hilarious. i wanna see them bring that back in modern who. look, any master would do BUT. i feel like for the best effect we gotta bring mr simm back so he can spit goop on people like a feral beast. here’s how saxteen can still win-

what else. what else. guys. that’s a really fun movie. it was Not good. but it was amazing. you get me? i had a great time. structurally it was a mess, the story was in shambles, but i do not care. all the characters were fun, the eighth doctor is fantastic, and i loved it. its probably gonna be a comfort movie of mine from now on. its just so silly.

im SO excited to yap about rainworlds >:D i wanted the game a lot like last year and its like “oh wow i have it now lol” so ive been playing it a bunch and reading about the lore (because its super hard to tell the lore in the game)

to start off simple, you play as a slugcat (basically cat mixed with a slug) in an ecosystem with other creatures, id like to mention how i enjoy that the creatures dont just have set animations for their actions like most games, theyre placed on a rig and the ai has to go off of what to do which i find interesting! you, the slugcat arent meant to be a hero in the story, youre basically just another part in the ecosystem, youre also very low in the food chain (below you are basically just small creatures and plants, while lizards, scavengers, vultures, etc are above you.)

i also enjoy how it isnt JUST a survival game, each character has a story, such as how monk and the survivor are brothers that were seperated, how hunters cycles count down instead of up because she has a disease, etc!

oh yeah i should also probably do a gender chart so nothing gets too confusing (highlighted in yellow is canon, highlighted in purple is implied, white is just my own personal interpretation)

male- gourmand, monk, survivor

female- artificer, rivulet, hunter

neither- spearmaster, inv, saint, nightcat

oh yeah! i should probably explain the actual main thing you SHOULD be worried about!

basically, every cycle is around 13 minutes i believe (except rivulets, hers are shorter, but its back to normal when you meet five pebbles) and when the 13 minutes is up, you have to find shelter before everything rains. you have a certain amount of food pips depending on the campaign, if you have full food pips you can hibernate for the night and itll save, if you dont have enough filled it wont save and will give you one extra food pip, you can also eat extra so you have a few food pips already filled for the next cycle!

the main objective of the game is to follow the guide (iggy/overseer, i prefer to call em iggy) to Looks to the Moon and then Five Pebbles (theyre both iterators which ill explain later!!!!!) im not quite sure how the campaigns end, but ill find out trust :3

so basically, the iterators are what created the slugcats (i believe) and gave a few of them purposes, most were to send a message (like how spearmaster was made to be a messenger), also they have funky names like “Seven Red Suns” and “No Significant Harassment”

also some parts of the game are just really funny 😭 like i know its a game thats probably intended to make me mad but i cant help but laugh at the fact that spearmaster canonically got top surgery (in a way) and that theres a dating sim after you finish inv’s campaign

after each cycle you gain karma! (everytime you die you loose karma too btw) which can help you get through certain passages :)

remember how i mentioned that hunters cycles counted down instead of up? thats an important detail to her story :) because she basically has a disease, after the certain number of cycles, it starts to effect you, and death is permanent (fun fact! if you die in hunters campaign permanently you can go into gourmands and find her body (did i forget to mention that some parts of this game are actually really disturbing? i HATE the spiders.))

its such a confusing yet amazing game, its definitely worth it to get it with the DLC, the sound effects of the creatures, explosions, stabbing, literally every small detail is incredible and i LOVE the music !! oh yeah theres also an upcoming dlc with the nightcat… im very excited :3

More MH3 Cards! All the lil guy makers!

And by this I mean anything that'ss making me my fav lil colorless 0/1 & 1/1 eldrazi creature tokens with, "tap, sac this creature and add a colorless."

And remember, I'm not a professional in game design, so anything I say about game balance should be taken with a large hunk of salt. I'm not a playtester or designer, afterall.

The Token Art: We don't have any MH3 token art yet!

Cards: OMFG there's FIVE YUSS!

Writhing Chrysalis: LOVE this card. Gimme benefits to sac my lil guys! That and the card does not feel unfair. It's a four cost 2/3, but it's gonna be in a deck with decent potential to ramp early game, so that feels right. Add on top of it the "create tokens on ETB" effect combined with the "whenever you sac put a +1/+1 counter on it", this card has great value (in my opinion. Remember I'm an EDH player, not a modern player). Maybe it should've been uncommon, but I'm not gonna argue with its current rarity, it just means I get more of them! :)

Spawn-Gang Commander: Another great card! Would also combo super well with writhing chrysalis, bcus if you don't need to ramp, you can use the bottom ability to burn. Plus, this thing creates six potential burn on ETB? great card.

Kozilek's Unsealing: I have mixed feelings. I wish that the very bottom text wasn't on there, bcus in my opinion playing a seven cost creature doesn't need more benefits. Mf'er, look at most seven cost things, you don't need more tacked onto that. You don't need to draw three! And also, if the bottom text wasn't there, I think there's a stronger argument for it to be in green rather than blue (but even with the bottom abil there, I still think it should be simic. Its creature benefits). All that being said, I do kinda like the spawner effect. I think create two might be a bit too much, especially considering it triggers on a four cost, which a good deck can get out t2? But who am I to complain. I wanted a consistent generator of Eldrazi tokens, and here it is. I'm still gonna play it, even if I have to splash blue or even go full temur.

Basking Broodscale: Solid common card. I haven't seen too much +1/+1 focus in the set yet, so I don't think its mechanic is gonna be abused using MH3 cards. That being said, it will definitely be abused in EDH or other formats where you have access to more counters stuff. So maybe it should've been a 1/1?

Drowner of Hope: Another fair card! 6 mana 5/5 that makes me two scions, I'm not complaining! That and it's bottom ability only cares about Scions, not spawn or any other eldrazi. And it doesn't even put any stun counters on the creature it taps. So, maybe this shoulda been an uncommon? But who am I to say. Bulk rares do exist.

Overall: Good token cards! Again, I wish they woulda kept the effects in gruul rather than temur, but im still fine with it. If they wanna go for card draw benefits for your spawn, blue makes sense.

I'm much more excited for this set than I thought I would be (although the amount of alt arts and full arts and serialized cards is still ridiculous)!

i don't ship zhongven personally, and i never have, but i definitely see the appeal! to me they are just silly old friends. i don't ship any venti ships (that i can recall, at least) because i don't think venti would do well in a long-term romantic relationship. he probably doesn't do well with vulnerability for the most part, with certain exceptions. HOWEVER i think the "not wanting to be vulnerable" and "fear of loss" effect would be mitigated if he was dating another immortal, particularly another one of the original seven... zhongli specifically, so i do see the appeal. but venti is also very aroace to me though so that's probably also why. definitely can get behind qpr zhongven though. they probably kiss in a not-quite-romantic way tbh!!!

the thing w 15 is that in addition to being a very handsome man he is also as mentioned above a lot warmer & more openly affectionate than most Doctors and, superficially,* the most emotionally aware and self-actualised. i think there's a number of past companions w legitimate grudges against the Doctor who'd meet 15 and be like all is forgiven i can't stay mad at you and also i wanna kiss you on the mouth so so bad

*only superficially. he is a disaster he'd just subtler about it than other Doctors.

extremely underrated dr who scenario is pairing up classic who companions w later incarnations of the Doctor and having them be like 'wtf why is the Doctor hot now'. just like people who have never for one second thought of the Doctor as attractive suddenly having the most disconcerting crush of their life.

anyway here are my top picks for Doctors to do this with:

Three: listen im not into Three personally but I do think he's the sexiest classic doctor. if you are into older men just unbelievably charming & debonair & well dressed. definitely some guys n gals who would love this Doctor to sweep them off their feet and feel very confused about it.

Eight: something i love about Eight is how oblivious he is to his own prettyboy status. 'I am treating people the same as I always do,' he says. 'why do my companions keep falling in love with me.' they would all fall under his spell.

Thirteen: now i have to say i don't think Thirteen is a very sexy Doctor due to being some kind of weird little gremlin, however, great one to sick on any and all lesbian companions. thought you were immune to the Doctor's weird flavour of sexiness?? think again!

Fifteen: nuclear bomb!! nuclear bomb!! companions who've never experienced one iota of attraction to the Doctor are drowning in his eyes. companions are having their bi awakenings. honestly i think he is flustering everyone regardless of whether they're attracted to him due to his warm and loving nature. insanity inducing incarnation.

so im definitely not going to finish oresama teacher this month (i'm only a little over a third of the way through) so i'll just post what i think of it now and if/when i finish it i'll reblog with updated thoughts lol

so i'll start with the premise, which is that mafuyu, a delinquent, is caught by the police while beating up a rival gang and gets sent to a private school that's kind of an unofficial landing pad for delinquents who are in hot water, and while she wants to try and live life as a normal girl her sense of justice and fighting skills compel her to keep sticking her neck out and standing up for her classmates (really good stuff!!!!). unfortunately her homeroom teacher is a childhood friend seven or eight years her senior who has decided to flirt with her in the most dickish and creepy ways possible for reasons i cannot fathom and do not remember if they have ever been explained/hinted at. this series is incredible every second that takaomi isn't on-screen and as soon as his face pops up it starts feeling like my bones are dissolving in acid. i trust i needn't explain why. the worst part is that there actually is some interesting stuff happening with takaoi wrt his reasons for becoming a teacher, his interactions with mafuyu and hayasaka as their club mentor and a former delinquent turned teacher, and the internal politicking happening within the school staff and board members. the problem is he is just so conceptually flawed as a love interest and subsequently all his interactions with mafuyu towards that end make me want to take chunks out of the drywall. leave her ALONE!!!!! get a. hm. get a DIFFERENT job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

speaking of love interests: this is technically a reverse harem manga lol. im not sure exactly how that's going to pan out considering that (excluding takaomi) there are only two love interests in said harem and i'm already over a third of the way through, but i do really enjoy mafuyu's dynamic with both, and the stuff happening between hayasaka and both of mafuyu's disguises is really great; the christmas date chapter with usa-chan man did kind of get to me LMAO

mafuyu is a lot of fun and the shining star of this series; everything she does is so great, and i love how accidentally lesbian-coded she is lol

i love watching her have to keep up two different secret identities, and she plays off of everyone around her so well - the rest of the disciplinary club, her old gang members, the boss of this school's gang whose name i can't remember who is her other love interest and also her penpal whose identity she doesn't know (they both put on these really girly personas that don't match their real lives at ALL when they write to each other, it's so fucking good) (wait actually his name might be okegawa. i think), everything she does is just so much fun to watch

(there's also so much good yaoi potential in this series but tsubaki just HAS to keep giving people hetero love interests smh 🙄🙄 anyway these three are kinda ot3 ngl. shinobu is the blond one lol)

anyway. i've always felt like tsubaki's strong points as a writer are her characterization and her sense for comedic timing, and while she pulls these off here just as excellently as in gsnk i was also surprised at how well the drama and pathos read. it's genuinely enjoyable, and she's really good at switching between moods and modes on the fly without losing power and authenticity from any of them, and i think this is largely because she is just so willing to throw herself into whatever emotions boil up in the characters at any given moment - and because her cast is so strong, and she's good at pacing things moment-to-moment, this generally works out pretty effectively. and again, i *do* think her strength is as a comedy writer, but the serious moments are believable and enjoyable, and even when it's happening to the tertiary cast we haven't spent a ton of time with i still find myself interested and engaged.

i genuinely don't know whether i like this series. it's an absolute blast most of the time until i remember takaomi exists and then im back in the trenches. i don't recommend it. it is absolutely worth the read. i will report back when i finish it and we know whether or not mafuyu gets a restraining order for takaomi. before i go - some screencaps:

oh ummmm that first one is kind of like. hard to answer cause i actually don't sleep that much tbh,,, it isnt a thing where i just refuse to sleep or like im overworking myself i grew outta that phase but like i havent been able to sleep properly at all for as long as i can remember (ALSO YES IVE TRIED CUTTING OUT CAFFEINE IT DIDNT WORK) so i dont really dream thatttt much. but recently when ive managed to get to sleep ive had this dream where like. it reminds me of this one fairy tale (read: reading comprehension passage) i really liked when i was younger called marzia and the seven harlequins. i talk about it more here. (https://www.tumblr.com/aspens-lab-moved/740062909838884864/whats-a-book-that-features-your-favorite?source=share) but basically in the dream i take the role of marzia and eight other people (none of whom i recognize?? which is kinda weird) take the roles of her friends. but basically what happens is i turn like 13 in the dream and my pichu and i set out on this journey where basically we have to reset this timer in order to prevent the world from being destroyed by 'god.' so as we journey throughout the land over the course of 5 years we meet these people and we become friends and they join my cause. along the way my pichu also eventually evolves into a raichu. what happens is like basically each of these eight friends start to go missing one by one, until theres only me, my raichu, and one last friend left with his raichu. and the two of us keep going on our journey to reset the timer and stop god from destroying the world and when we get to wherever we're supposed to be stopping god there's an altar at the very top of this tower which is on top of a mountain. when we find god, whos like just sitting on the altar having a good time ig, we realize that our friends went missing because every time we got closer he was taking them as sacrifices to make him stronger. then he takes my raichu and our last friend as the final sacrifices and its just me and this eevee left to reset the timer and make sure god doesnt destroy the world and basically like the eevee evolves into an umbreon and we're able to reset the timer and destroy god because he didnt realize that the timer doesnt function on sheer power but its cause like love and hope and devotion are how it chooses its master so its reset but in the process the umbreon and i are killed, but we wake up to this really bright light, where we're meant to spend all of eternity together all alone because we're dead and we have to watch over the timer now in order to reset it next time and next time and next time because that way nothing changes and the timer can always be guaranteed to be reset and then i start crying in the dream and then i wake up its a weird fuckin dream and then for the second one . its kind complicated ig. im not going into detail for kind of obvious but i do have a few experiences regarding death and stuff and they definitely had an effect on me. i wouldn't say i necessarily fear death. i don't want to die but at the same time if i were to be killed i wouldn't try to fight all that hard yk? like if it happens it happens. theres not a whole lot i can do about that. im going to die anyway. all i can really do is love the people i love while i can and hope that when i say i love them they know i mean it and try to live a life that i won't regret when my time comes. and i dont really mean that in a yolo way but i moreso just wanna like. pay attention to my life and the world around me and i wanna pay attention to what i pay attention to. i dont want to die but if it happens i dont want to waste time trying to cling to life when i could be doing something better with my time

i’m so in love with your AU, especially the parts where Gimli is being influenced / hearing the whispers of his ring!! i love hearing Gimli’s inner workings and thoughts as he’s further being corrupted. im not sure where I got the idea that dwarves are more resilient to the influence of the ring (not sure if this is from canon or fanon or just vibes ach) but it’s really fascinating to read your story with the thought that dwarves are resilient (ESPECIALLY GIMLI!!! the knight in shining armour who in the movies literally immediately tried to destroy the ring) and seeing just how far gone Gimli has gone to justify the corruption to himself. its like Gimli is an unmoveable rock and his ring Knows This, so it has chipped away at him slowly, until he withered away and has become something unrecognisable. given what it took for legolas to recognise gimli fully and completely (him taking off his ring) it seems this is already in effect!! but somehow though despite the corruption and the pain going on here i still Trust gimli, isn’t that insane? 😅 it’s like yeah he’s definitely being influenced by evil energy and yeah he’s committed war crimes but also he’s Gimli so that’s okay 🫶 no but in all honesty i feel like how legolas did first seeing him, couldn’t recognise him at first but once i did i flinched back in fear at the dark lord of erebor i saw!! (but also i just feel like when it comes to gimli i cant lose hope!) maybe he snaps out of the evil influence, maybe he falls further into its hold!! who knows what’s gonna happen in this AU? cant wait to read more! <3 (also many apologies for the HUGE chunk of text 😅)

Well, now I have to justify a dark take on him in this weird-ass AU idea that bopped me on the head out of nowhere lmao. So I’m going to just gush my thoughts out at you incoherently, and see if I can A: get them a little more concrete in my head and B: see what you think! (This is what you get for engaging with me I’m so sorry. You stuck your finger through the cage and now I’m gnawing on it excitedly lol.)

You’re right about Dwarves and the Rings btw, the original Seven Rings couldn’t corrupt the Dwarves the way they did Men (no Ringwraithdwarves lol) they basically just gave them Severe Goldsickness, iirc. But! it’s not gold that Gimli wants! Over him gold shall have no dominion. So that wouldn’t be a very viable way of getting to his heart, silly Ring. So basically where my head went was, the Rings work by corrupting a person’s goodness not by just like. mustache twirling mwa-ha-ha evilness, right? They get to you by offering you what you want, not what the Dark Lord wants; that’s how they hook you, anyway, and then it shifts and drags you down with it into what It wants...but that’s how it starts.

With Frodo, the way the Ring got to him was through him showing Gollum mercy, basically: the whole “I won’t kill you, but if you attack me again you’ll be thrown into fire!” thing. Sure it was wearing him down all along in little ways, but that was where the Ring got its final major defining “in” with him. With Boromir, it was “hey do you want strength to defend your city?” and yeah, of course he does! Who wouldn’t? That’s a viable desire!

So with Gimli, Durin’s Ring has really been working with not a lot so far, tbh.

It’s certainly been enacting influence! Twisting, corrupting, cajoling; chipping away, as you said. A year ago, he wouldn’t have been able to bring himself to do X...but a year ago, he had to do Y. And doing Y makes doing X easier to bear; that’s how corruption works. And the Ring has certainly been working hard. But it just hasn’t been able to get much of a grip.

Because Gimli is compromising his sense of right and wrong for the sake of the greater good, sure; but that was less about the Ring on his hand luring him in than it was about the fact that all of Middle-earth has been conquered by a Dark Lord, so there are no good choices left. Do you defy Gondor and watch your people be slaughtered on the altar of your pride? Or do you bend your knee and try to keep them alive as best you can? Gimli chose the latter, and that’s led to a terrible (and slowly corrupting) struggle, because he has to side with evil “for the sake of his people” and accept, allow, and sometimes even order evil things done, and there’s no good way off that road to hell once you start walking it (especially in Tolkien) — but he hasn’t really needed (or wanted) the power of the Ring. Yet.

Now all of a sudden here’s Legolas in chains before him, and elves are the one thing in Middle-earth who don’t get the option of “bend your knee to the bad guy and live, or defy him and die” — for them, it’s just die. And of course Gimli doesn’t want to stand back and watch Legolas die. But maybe Gimli can save him! He’s the Lord of Erebor! He has a Ring of Power! He should be able to do something to save him...right!?

And that’s how the Ring is (finally!) getting its big “in” with him here.

He’s already compromised himself so much, he thinks; he’s already got so much blood on his hands, spilt to save his people. He’s watched children in Dale starve, because he doesn’t dare give them food the Dark Lord doesn’t think their people have earned. He’s watched Mirkwood burn and stood behind his walls and done nothing. He’s let elves be worked to death in his mines. He’s accepted a Ring of Power, and all it’s done has been to leave him even more powerless than before. He’s stood back while good people were executed, because nothing he said could have saved them and daring to try would have only made more trouble for the people depending on him. He’s pledged his allegiance, and that of his people, to a monster for the sake of making sure the dwarves who rely on him live to see another day. He’s already damned. So what else does he have to lose?

Well. Legolas’s life, as it turns out. And if the Ring can save him...well.

Gimli is such a good, strong person. He’s never wanted power for himself, or lordship, or anything like that. He just wants to save people, to protect them. And just like with Boromir, the Ring is going to offer him the power to do that, and that might be what pushes him over the edge from slowly damning himself by making the best of increasingly bad choices...to falling off the edge into total darkness.

But we’ll see! I have no idea where this story is going to go, so maybe it’ll be a story of salvation! Or maybe it won’t. We get to find out together. Yay?

So, my whole life I was under the impression that "ugly" was a word that only applied the people and things that are like... 'anti aesthetic', or just repulsive to look at or something. oh oh i have ptsd and have dissociative episodes and i can totally see luke being the same!! to my knowledge the dates never touch on luke experiencing a flashback or episode or being triggered but i would really like to see it (much in the same way as his physical illness!). because love isn’t just uwu and “oh you cured me”, it’s loving someone through everything!!

frankly even with his physical illness, the post-anniv cards are leaving much to be desired, irt to it actually cropping up and affecting luke and mc's relationship, like it was being set up for (shoutout to hazel seven-tastic for the chat that made me Realize This, like YEAH....YEAH WHERE ARE THE MOMENTS WHERE THE HARDSHIP LUKE WAS SO WORRIED ABOUT ARRIVES AND THEY TACKLE IT TOGETHER, COMING OUT STRONGER FOR IT!!!! ;-;)

i rlly love that u brought up the physical illness too because that prev response i did was more focused on mental illness and consequences and the Link between physical illnesses and mental illnesses/effects is Real (i expound way more on that in this previous 1.7k word response about my hopes for the portrayal luke's physical illness). not to say that one always causes the other, but that the immense stress of one can definitely feed into the other. it makes sense to me. and it would be very interesting and fulfilling to see how luke and mc handle it together. how will she help him through the pain episodes of his neural condition? how will she help him through a dissociative episode after a grizzly mission?

and like, to link it to The Line That's Driving Me Nuts that i recently saw from luke's cn server Empryean's Touch MR card; "[...] perhaps it's written in the stars that my name belongs to you"

in my head i can already imagine a scene where he comes home after a mission and hes still so far away. mc helps him with wounds hes sustained that he cant even feel in his state any more. it's upsetting to see him like this, as if hes been hollowed out and sapped of the warmth that makes him him, but she wouldnt want to be anywhere else, saying his name softly over and over again so maybe he can have an anchor to hang onto in wherever hes found himself lost.

it's not a cure-all, but it helps. because so long as she calls his name, one way or another, luke makes his way back to her.

Number six is Akira I’m SORRY the only reason he is so far down is because he’s way more baby to me 🥺 I know this is not a cg → baby ranking but. It Does have an effect on his ranking. Although just a teeny one because if I didn’t have to give them all their own numbers they would all be number one 🥺 mmm he is good at caregiving but not a caregiver you know. Like he is.
