The Legend of Hana Chapter 86
Warnings: Fluff/angst? Nah, it’s angst. I can tell. Also, it’s long. Bear with me here folks

After rebonding with her little demon friends, Hana had told them to help her find a way out of here. They nodded and began searching for a way out. Unfortunately, there was no luck. But they weren’t about to give up. Hana tried to help as well, but she was still weak. Aki (the red one. Should’ve specified in the last chapter. That was my bad) climbed back onto Hana’s vanity and began searching for something that might help. But there was still nothing. Aki and his friends chittered sadly and huddled up close to Hana, hoping someone might save them.
                                                          ☽✧☽✧
Sora laid on the ground in the World that Never Was, exhausted. He ached all over, and every breath was a struggle. But he beat the Remnants of Despair. That was when Junko appeared before Sora.
“You...again,” Sora said, weakly as he looked at the Spirit of Despair.
“You just make it too easy. I know you think you've won, but you lost the moment you dived this far in. You're in the deepest pit of slumber, and you've worn yourself down to nothing. There's no returning to the world above,” Junko replied.
“What do you mean?” Sora could see a strange black smoke rising from his body.
“We told you. It was not the Sleeping Keyholes that guided you. They are not the reason you are here. You've been on a path, one we laid out for you,” Junko said as she pointed at Sora’s chest. “That sigil on your chest is the proof.”
“What?” Sora looked down at his torso. He’d thought the new outfit came from Yen Sid--but the Despair Spirit was right. There was an X on his chest. Junko smirked and slowly drew an X in the air.
“See? That sigil, the X, it tells us where you are at all times. You had wondered aloud before--why we kept showing up where you were. It's because we need you, Sora. Or, to be more precise, we need what will be left of you--the thirteenth dark vessel.”
“Why...I...” Everything was warping and twisting. The Spirit bent and blurred Sora’s vision.
“Why was it assured you could come here today? Because I followed my destined path, and I'm here looking at you right now. You can move through time, but time itself is immovable. Today, all of my Xeha-Chan’s selves throughout time were meant to gather here, and to welcome you, Sora, as our thirteenth member. These facts cannot be changed.” Junko knelt down beside Sora and leaned in closer to his face.
“What's...gonna happen...?”
“I have now told you all that I know. We are all here, and what the future holds in store is beyond my sight. Still, my appointed path is now etched in my heart, which will first lead me to seek the outside world. But, at least you’ll get to see your precious Hana again.” Sora could sense darkness enveloping his body.
“Riku...Hana...” Finally, Sora called out to her dear friend and his soulmate.
“Your heart will sleep forever in the folds of darkness. And your body will be another vessel for my Xeha-Chan. So light gives way to darkness. Good night, Sora,” Junko said. The darkness crept in at the corners of Sora’s vision, until it finally swallowed him completely. Sora was descending into the depths of a profound darkness. And yet, a light quietly drew near, gentle and kind. It was a piece of someone’s heart, of the heart sleeping inside Sora. The light shone out into the darkness, illuminating Sora and bursting free from the gloom dragging him down into its depths. It became armor that encased Sora’s body. With that, Sora slept on...
                                                         ☽✧☽✧
While Vanitas and Xeha gave their report to Yen Sid, Lea and the others stood quietly to the side, looking at the two boys. They told the master about Xehanort’s plan and how they had captured Sora.
“WHAT!?” everyone shouted.
“Yep. Since Hana has been captured by that crusty bastard, there’s no telling what he might do to her next,” Vanitas said. Unlike the scared group, Yen Sid let out a long breath and replied.
“I sensed something was amiss nearly the moment Sora, Lily, and Riku departed. Xehanort must have known what we were attempting before we even began.” Donald and Goofy shared a worried glance.
“Are they in the World That Never Was?” Goofy asked lowering his head, as if he found the question hard to voice.
“Yeah. And so is Era,” Xeha said. Yen Sid gazed for a moment at the fist on his knee, then stroked his long beard and began to speak.
“You must understand, this examination is in no way how the Mark of Mastery is usually found. However, in light of what they must do next... it was a necessity. If Sora and Riku complete their test, by finding the seven doors corresponding to the seven pure lights, they will return home with a new power. At that point, they will both be true masters. However, the dangers make this more trial than test.” His voice was grave as he explained Sora, Lily, and Riku’s exam. Roxy crossed her arms, and tapped her foot impatiently, trying not to lose her temper.
“But are they safe right now?” Mickey asked.
“The hell do you think?!” Roxy yelled.
“Roxy!” Xemnas scolded, but Roxy ignored him.
“My crusty ass grandfather has my best friend and her boyfriend captive and you’re asking if they’re safe?! Hell fucking no they aren’t!”
“I agree with Roxy,” Yui replied calmly. “Xehanort’s reign has gone on for too long. It’s time we take back what’s ours.”
Donald sighed, unable to hide his concern.
“As you can see, the Organization's members are complete people again. Xehanort will be no different. We cannot afford another moment's hesitation. We must consider any strategy to outwit Xehanort and catch him off guard,” Yen Sid said. He examined Lea for a moment and bagan speaking again. “I must warn you again--the road will not be easy.”
“Fine. Let's jump right in,” Lea replied firmly, arms crossed. After he left, the mood in Yen Sid’s chamber became somber. If Xehanort had laid a trap in Sora, Lily, and Riku’s exam, then they were in danger. Just like how Hana and Era are. Not only that, but Yen Sid was “consider any strategy” to outwit him.
“Master Yen Sid. Gosh, do ya think he'll be able to do it?” Mickey asked, unable to take the oppressive atmosphere anymore.
“It's clear you cannot teach a cat to bark. But Merlin and the three good fairies are aiding him in a place that's more...temporally flexible. My hope is that he can at least learn to wield it. He certainly has fire, so I suppose it depends now on how strongly it burns,” Yen Sid replied. If Axel’s behavior was anything to go by, Lea’s determination was strong. Mickey had seen it for himself. But what about his physical abilities? Regardless of how strong Lea was, Mickey could imagine how difficult the training would be. All he could do now, was have faith i him.
“Oh... But what about Sora, Lily, and Riku?” Mickey asked next and Yen Sid let out a deep breath.
“Well, if we are running on the assumption Xehanort knew what we were planning, then he still would need to have been there--back in the very place and time when the Destiny Islands were lost to darkness. Otherwise, Sora, Lily, and Riku would have been beyond his reach.”
“Gee, do you really think it's possible Xehanort could have planned things that far in advance?”
“No, as a matter of fact, I do not.” Mickey patted his chest in relief at those words. Mukuro suddenly had an idea and turned to her brother in law.
“Xemnas, doesn’t your castle have secret passageways?” she asked.
“Yes. But we never had a reason to use them,” Xemnas replied. “Why?”
“I think I have an idea.”
                                                        ☽✧☽✧
Riku and Lily had arrived in the World That Never Was and in front of Yui’s home. They saw that there was no way of entering the castle, and heard a quiet meow and gasped, searching around for the source. Riku and Lily cupped their hand to their ears and heard a small whimper. They stared into the castle before him, seeing a Meow Wow rolling around on a platform.
“A Dream Eater! Is that where Hana and Era are?” Lily asked.
“Must be,” Riku replied. “Along with Sora.”
They looked at the gap between the edge and the castle.
“How do we get across?” Lily asked.
“You have Akaya, right? Maybe she can help.” Before Lily could reply, Komory Bat appeared in the air and landed on Riku’s shoulder, chirping. “Right. I get it.”
“Riku! Lily!” a familiar voice called. They looked over and found Yui, Roxy, and Rumi approaching them with their guardians along with Fenwick, Luna, and another woman. Yui ran over to Riku and hugged him tight, scaring Komory Bat a little.
“Hey, bunny,” Riku smiled and hugged her back.
“I’m so glad you’re okay,” Yui replied softly. Riku pulled away and kissed her forehead, making her smile.
“I’m even more okay now that you’re here,” he said. Komory Bat flew back onto Riku’s shoulder and squeak, grabbing Yui’s attention.
“Oh, hello there! Have you been taking care of Riku?” she said as she petted the bat, who squealed happily.
“Um, hello?! Best friend that needs saving!” Roxy interrupted.
“Roxy!” the woman scolded.
“Sorry, aunt Mukuro.” The group chuckled and Riku looked back up at the castle.
“How are we supposed to get in? There’s no bridge,” he said.
“Dad built it like this to prevent that crusty bastard of a grandfather of getting in. But now, we need something stronger,” Roxy explained.
“Thankfully, we have magic that can easily transport us inside,” Yui finished.
“Then let’s do it,” Lily said. They huddled together and Mukuro used her magic to transport them into the castle. Once inside, they discussed a plan. Riku was gonna search for Sora while the girls were gonna find Hana. They nodded and split off.
                                                          ☽✧☽✧
While the girls were searching for Hana, the boys used the secret passageways of the castle and entered the dungeons. They walked through the long halls till they reached Era’s cell, where he was huddled in the corner, trying to keep himself warm.
“Era!” Xeha called. Era looked over and smiled at the sight of his boyfriend.
“Xeha...” Xeha smiled softly and summoned his Keyblade.
“Hold on, kitty. I’ll get you out.” He held up his Keyblade to the lock and undid it. Once it was open, he quickly opened the door and rushed over to Era. He pulled the young boy into a hug and kissed him all over.
“Uh, not to ruin the happy moment here, but our sister still needs saving,” Vanitas said, only to be slapped in the head by Xemnas. “OW! What the hell?!”
“Let them have this,” Xemnas scolded.
“Well, our sister needs our help!”
“Well, if you’re so worried about her, then go help her!”
“We’ll all go!” Ansem interrupted, already tired of the fighting.
“I’m taking Era back to Yen Sid’s. Go save Hana for me,” Xeha said, picking up the weak Era. The boys nodded and they went their separate ways.
                                                          ☽✧☽✧
The girls, the Guardians, and Fenwick arrived at the Organization dorms and began searching for Hana’s dorm. Ever since, they moved to Luna’s family mansion, they couldn’t remember which dorm was Hana’s. Fenwick began sniffing the ground to try and pick up Hana’s scent, but he picked up an unfamiliar scent. He followed in and found a little creature searching the halls. The creature spotted Fenwick and called over his little friends who looked a lot like him. They chittered as if they were trying to tell him where to go. The girls looked at what was happening and were super confused. They soon got the idea and followed them to one of the bedroom doors, where the small creatures crawled through underneath the door.
“This has to be Hana’s room. It has to be,” Lily said.
“Alright, let’s blow this fucker down,” Roxy replied as she summoned her pistoleer.
“That’s not a good idea, Roxy. Besides, I have a Keyblade.” Roxy scoffed and stood with her sister as Lily undid the lock to Hana’s room. They burst in and found Hana holding herself up with her vanity and giving them a weak smile while donned in her battle outfit.
“About time you fuckers got here,” she said.
                                                          ☽✧☽✧
Riku stepped into Where Nothing Gathers where thirteen tall chairs arranged in a circle. They were all empty and overhead--except for one. Sitting in the chair closest to the ground was--
“Sora!” Riku started to run over to his sleeping friend, but before he could reach him, a dark portal formed right in front of him to reveal Junko, who knocked him away with her mallet. “Ngh!”
Riku crashed to the ground, and Junko fully stepped out of the portal.
“Hands off my Xeha-Chan’s new vessel,” she said.
“‘Vessel’?” Riku asked as he raised his head.
“Yes. We originally had our sights set on you. But, you developed a certain...resistance to darkness. So we did what the Keyblade did, and moved down the list. Roxas... Now, there was a worthy candidate. But, unfortunately, he became too aware of himself, and returned to Sora.” Riku got to his feet glaring angrily at the Despair Spirit. “Organization XIII's true goal is to divide Xehanort's heart among thirteen vessels. Thanks to you and Sora, we learned not all our candidates were fit for the task. But, we managed to make up the difference. And now, Sora, the thirteenth vessel, is within our grasp.”
“Thirteen...Xehanorts?” Riku whispered. What did that even mean? Columns of darkness began to appear over the empty chairs, each one leaving a seat occupied by someone in a black coat. Except for four. Those belonged to Junko and her Remnants. And the tallest one remained vacant.
“The real Organization XIII,” Junko said. “My precious Xeha-Chan gave me a task--to visit the splintered versions of himself in many worlds, and ensure they gathered here today. And to help take control of the Death Spirit.”
Riku recalled the names of all the ones he knew with some direct to Xehanort but they were all on his side. Except for one. Master Xehanort, the one he only knew by name from Yen Sid.
“There are restrictions to movement through time. First, you must leave your body behind to do it. Then, there must be a version of you waiting at the destination. Upon arrival, you can only move forward as per the laws of time. And you cannot rewrite the events that are destined to happen. But I found a way to make it easier to save my flawless looks,” Junko said. A shock of anxiety ran down Riku’s spine, and he was shouting before he could stop himself.
“What have you done?”
“My precious Xeha-Chan will arrive soon. Then, time for all of us will return to normal, and I will be able to rule with him forever with the power of the Death Spirit. He can vouch for that.” Riku lifted his gaze to the highest chair, where a black haze was coalescing into human form. That was when a beam of light struck down into the center of the chamber with a blinding flash. The impact hurled Junko away.
“Stopza!” And as time froze around them, Riku recognized the voice. “I'm glad I'm not too late.”
The light had brought someone with it, and the newcomer turned and grinned at Riku.
“Mickey!” Riku called the name of his dear friend and ran over to him.
“Just grab Sora so we can go! I can't stop them for long.”
“Okay!” But the moment Sora answered, something knocked Mickey away.
“Woah!”
“Mickey!” There, stood Junko shrouded in darkness that looked like Hana’s powers a bit.
“I said, hands off!”
“How can you be moving?” Riku asked.
“Did you really think that your pathetic spells can stop me?! Ha! Don’t make me laugh!”
~Le Time Skip b/c I don’t wanna right the fight scene~
“Are you okay, Riku?” Mickey asked as he ran up to Riku.
“Yeah. Thanks, Mickey,” Riku replied, and Mickey looked up at the tallest chair.
“Master Xehanort!” he shouted. “We were right about you!”
Riku followed Mickey’s gaze to the one sitting in the seat. The old man with golden eyes smirked down at them with utter confidence, now that he had full control over Hana’s powers.
“All of this was decided. My twelve selves would welcome me here on this day, when I would return a complete person. It is the future which lies beyond my sight,” he said. Before Riku knew it, the unknown figures in black hoods had been joined by Xehanort. Junko, and her Remnants. Sonia, Fuyuhiko, Nagito, and Mahiru.
“Why are you doing this?” Mickey asked. Despite Mickey’s agitation, Xehanort explained at a leisurely pace.
“In ancient times, people believed that light was a gift from an unseen land by the name of Kingdom Hearts. But Kingdom Hearts was safeguarded by its counterpart, the Chi-blade. Warriors vied for that precious light, thus beginning the ‘Keyblade War.’ Which so happens to be birth of my daughter, Hana. The violent clash shattered the Chi-blade into twenty pieces--seven of light, and thirteen of darkness. And the only real Kingdom Hearts was swallowed by the darkness, never to surface again,” he said as he closed his eyes, reflecting. “I once tried to create my own pure light and darkness to forge the Chi-blade, but the attempt ended in failure. In my eagerness, I had lost sight of the correct way to achieve my goal. I acted rashly. I can admit that now. But now, I have the power that belonged to my daughter. And so does my beautiful Junko.”
“What you did back then--your mistakes--changed the destinies of three of my friends!” Mickey declared as he jabbed a finger at Xehanort. However, the old master’s gold eyes were still seeing the past.
“Ah, but destiny is never left to chance. I merely guided them to their proper places. The broken boy who failed to be the blade... the misguided master who sacrificed herself for a friend...and the feckless youth who became my new vessel,” he said confidently with his legs crossed and Mickey lowered is gaze.
“I couldn't find a way to save 'em. But I wanted to believe that their sacrifice stopped you for good.” The king hung his head, but his fists were clenched as he continued. “Why? How was I so blind? I should've seen it, as soon as Maleficent started gathering the seven princesses of heart.”
Xehanort smiled as he was about to reply. But a portal opened up and he was shot in numerous places, shocking Riku and Mickey.
“Honestly, the castle needs better security, dad,” a familiar voice said. Riku and Mickey looked over and saw Roxy, Yui, Rumi, Lily, Luna step out along with the boys, Mukuro, and the Guardians.
“I agree. Intruders are so annoying,” Yui replied.
“You...” Xehanort and Junko growled.
“Hey, crusty. It’s been like what? 16 years?” Roxy smirked.
“Why the hell are you guys ruining our moment?!” Junko screeched.
“Well, part of it is to end your reigns, and the other part is to settle something from a long time ago,” Mukuro explained. The old man growled, them, stood up and summoned his Keyblade to his hand.
“The thirteen darknesses shall be united. All the seats have been filled. And now the last vessel shall bear my heart like the rest!” He declared, and the chair holding Sora began to slowly rise. Once it was at the perfect height, Xehanort released a black mass from his Keyblade in Sora’s direction. But at that very moment, a wall of shadowy arms rose to protect Sora and spread throughout the room, like they were vines (pretty much just picture Kurumi Tokisaki’s shadow arms mixed with Elsa’s magic). From the wall, was Hana, holding Sora tightly and her scythe and glaring daggers at the man who ruined her life.
“Hana!” her friends and family shouted in excitement.
“How the hell are you here?! I stole your powers and locked you up!” Xehanort shouted. Hana released her grip on Sora and used her scythe to prop herself up, since she was still weak.
“Heh, I'll always be there to get my friends back. What, bad timing? You had your perfect little script, but you kinda forgot to write the sequel,” she smirked. Just then, one of the figures in black charged at Hana with a massive sword--a Claymore--in his hand. But before the Claymore could hit Hana, someone had blocked the attack.
“Uncle Axel!” Hana and her friends exclaimed.
“C’mon, call me Lea from now on!” Lea smiled. “And besides, I couldn’t let one of the best nieces ever get hurt!”
Hana smiled and helped Sora off of the chair and ran to her family, where they wrapped her up in a tight hug. Meanwhile, Lea parried off the attack, but impact knocked off the hood off the attacker to reveal a man with long blue hair and an X-shaped scar on his forehead.
“Isa!” Lea exclaimed. Realizing that he didn’t have a chance against him at the moment, Lea spun around and jumped off from the chair.
“Why are you here, Axel?” Riku asked.
“No, I told you my name;s-- Agh, whatever, Axel, fine. Now let's get outta here!” Lea replied.
“Right!” Mickey said. The air began to tremble, and the members of the true Organization XIII slowly dissolve into darkness.
“We are out of time. Neither the union of light nor darkness has been achieved, and we must all return whence we came. But, the gathering of the seven and thirteen is nigh. Let us finish this at the fated place, once your lights and my darknesses have joined together!” Xehanort declared--though it wasn’t clear if it was for the the members of the Organization or for Hana and her family and friends. The old man soon disappeared with Junko and the Organization, leaving Hana with her friends and family.
“C’mon. Let’s head home,” Xigbar said. Hana nodded and with the help from Roxy and Sapphite, Sora was sleeping on the wolf Guardian. With that, they headed back to Yen Sid’s tower, to try and wake Sora up.

It was looking like a slow-motion shot of each one of you walking to the rocket. Athena was walking on the side of your group in her assassin apparel, looking like a million bucks with a slight smile on her face. Janey was walking towards the rocket with confidence as big as her wife's was, leading your small convoy with a small smile on her face. Next to Janey, there was Scooter who was visibly nervous, but at least he could contain himself. Rayray and Blindy were just a small step behind the three of them.
And last, but not least, there you were in the back. You looked hilarious - your expression was showing that you're definitely not sure if you're gonna throw up on the spot or in the rocket.
Man, you never knew that you can hate something as much as rockets. Those machines were making you nervous, a rocket was too big, too loud, too heavy and too unnatural for you to like it. You didn't want to crawl into it, you didn't want to take a flight to Athenas. You wanted to stay exactly as you were and not move a single bit.
And you definitely ruined the whole slow-motion thing.
"Ya ok, man? Ya lookin' like Laney every time she saw me." - Scooter appeared next to you so suddenly that you almost punched him with your metallic arm. What was he after? You would rather shit yourself in the rocket than letting Scooter take care of you - so you straightened up and took a deep breath in.
"I'm fine, yeah. I'm good." - You nodded silently and took a big step towards the rocket. Scooter was by your side all the time, walking in your tempo. That boy could feel that you weren't exactly sure if you're gonna puke or not.
Before he could ask anything else, your body did something so unexpected, that you almost got a heart attack. Your normal, fleshy hand voluntarily reached for Scooter's palm so you could hold it. You looked at the man with parted lips, but you weren't able to say a single word. You felt your cheeks reddening - the whole everything inside of you panicked as you held his palm.
"A bit scared of rockets, aren't ya?" - He pointed at your entwined fingers.
"I hate these fucking things, Scooterboy. So much shit can go wrong just like that and I... I can't do that." - You mouthed silently to him. - "Also, you'll tell a living soul that you held my hand and you're dead, are we clear?"
"Yea, yea, man, I'm not deaf. Plus, I get that fear, ya know? A rocket exploded right under ma ass, ya remember?" - He tried to cheer you up in a cheesy way and to your surprise, it was working. You laughed silently. - "There ain't nothin' that will go wron'. Ya hear me?" - You stopped in front of the ladder leading inside of the rocket.
And as you crawled into the machine, for a short moment, you did believe him. You did believe Scooter that everything's gonna be just right; meanwhile, he was starring your ass down. Everyone climbed up to their seats - Athena and Janey were sitting behind the controlling panel, Rayray and Blindy sat directly behind them and you and Scooter were sitting in the back.
You were afraid that you would freak out and throw up and for a reason, Scooter voluntarily said that he will sit in the back next to you, just to keep his eye on you. As you did your seatbelts, you felt the whole rocket shaking and motors running. Athena was clearly talking to the headset the had on, but you and Scooter didn't listen to any of that.
Just seconds before taking off, you heard him laughing next to you, so you turned your face to him. In that second, Scooter took his cap off and waved it in the air like a cowboy waves with his lasso. The first moments after taking off were horrendous - you took Scooters palm to yours, again, while screaming like a five-year-old girl and he was looking you in the face while laughing. - “Catch-a-Riiiideeee!” - You heard him yelling as he continued on laughing and he put your entwined palms above your heads.
As soon as the rocket entered the vacuum, you could see Janey pushing something on the panel and your stomach curled into a small ball.
“Alright guys, take your seatbelts off. We'll be on the coordinates in an hour.” - She informed the whole rescue party and you finally opened up your eyes. That shit was intense. Really intense. Even so intense, that you continued holding Scooter's hand even if you had any reason to do so.
“See? We're good.” - Scooter shook it off on his own, feeling that one or two of his fingers might have been broken since you held him with the metallic arm. You still sat on the plushy seat of what was remaining out of Blindy's caravan, breathing in and out in a steady rhythm.
“What's on the program now? Were taking the flight to Athenas... Or...” - Athena asked with a look on Scooter's face, waiting for the next instructions. - “Not exactly.”
“WHAT?!” - You regained consciousness and shakily undid the seatbelts to stand up. - “Were not flying to Athenas? You think that I'll voluntarily do any other rocket flight? No. You're crazy.” - You shouted at Scooter. The boy didn't know that to tell you for a good minute or two as he waited for you to hit him, but you just sat down on the seat in complete despair.
“What coordinates did ya give me, Scooter? Ya said that these are takin' us to Athenas. Where are we goin'?” - Janey asked with a furrow as she watched his face. Scooter laughed a bit.
“I... Managed to pick up a radio call comin' all the way from Eden-6. I have a few friends who wanna help us with savin' Liliths goddamn ass. We just need to pick 'em up and were good to go. Fast travel is workin' there.” - Scooter presented to each one of you - you weren't sure if you're about to cry or puke, Athena just sat down with an empty face and Rayray with Blindy were as quiet as they were before Scooter told you the news.
In about an hour, you were slowing down as Janey was initiating the landing process. This time, you decided to endure the whole thing alone, since everyone was angry with Scooter. That man was just insane and a pure idiot. This time, you even encouraged yourself to look at the planet which appeared to be closer and closer to you - it was weird, muddy, mossy and... It was just one big swamp. But clearly, you felt safe to say that this planet is mostly Fanatic-free. At least for now.
“Here we go. Just be gentle with it, okay?” - Athena asked Janey and the blonde woman nodded, preparing to bring the baby home. She slowed the machine even more and then, you broke the Eden-6 atmo. I, as the narrator, would love to say that you landed slowly and safely - but in the next minute, the whole ship was crushing to the surface and each one of you was yelling like crazy.
You definitely crashed. But any of you died - but your rocket ship... It broke into several pieces... Just like that. There wasn't anything that would be more out of use than the pieces remaining from the rocket. Athena got up immediately, looking at everyone.
“Is everyone alright? Any broken bones? Any hurting stomachs or bleeding eyebrows? Have someone died?” - She asked and by a miracle, everyone hummed somehow. Everyone was still alive enough to continue the journey.
“At least we're alive, aren't we, huh?” - Scooter asked all of you as soon as he jumped off the remnants of his and Janey's doing. You climbed out right after him and pinned the shotgun to your back along with a pack of ammo on in a bag on your hip.
“Dumbass.” - You mouthed and took the coat off - Eden-6's atmosphere was so humid and warm that there was no need to wear more than a top and sweatpants with Crimson rider's logo on your lovely bottom. You were standing somewhere in a jungle and any of you had an actual clue where to go. The radio was dead. You had some ammo on you and so did Blindy and Rayray, but that wasn't enough.
Your last option was to walk through the jungle - once, something that looked like a huge-ass ant almost bit Janey's head off and everyone really appreciated when you found some freshwater to drink. It almost looked like your mission ended up like a big fuck up.
That was when you met the creatures - it looked like a half-baked dinosaur mixed with bones stolen from the graveyard. At that moment, you were sure that your mission is a fuck up. And you were about to be dead in the next minute. Everyone tried to shoot them down and there were even some great ones, but there were more and more of them. Everyone was sweaty and tired, muddy and bloody like hell, there was no wonder after everything you had to endure - and there were just moments remaining until someone gets badly hurt. There was only one thing that could save you - a miracle.
And to your surprise, a miracle was exactly what you got. It was a miracle looking like an old car and two men - one dressed in a grotesque safari outfit and one with a suit on. And they really saved you with all of their guns. And each one of them was made by Jakobs. When the animals were dead, the two men stood in front of you - and you stared each other down for a second, before one in the safari costume, with a broken glass monocle on bowed to you.
“Sir Hammerlock at your service.”

Trial 6 - Flashfiction (4)
Tumblr media
FLIP THAT CHESSBOARD, SWEETCHEEKS!
Trial: 1 / 2 / 3
it’s what kokichi would have wanted
Tumblr media
DRV3 HOW DARE YOU HOLD OUT ON THE CUTEST DAMN TSUMUGI SPRITE OF THE ENTIRE GAME
Tumblr media
how can mirrors be real if our eyes aren’t real
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And we found it in Kokichi’s lab of all places. Why? Had he been able to get access to it ater all? Why was it just lying there so awkwardly - not hidden or neatly put away at all, but just tossed on the floor like an afterthought?
...... thinks about the state of Kokichi’s dorm room
yeah the chance that he left it on the floor like a bored 12 year old or me is not 0%
Tumblr media
Wait.... is there??? The only one that stands out to me is the method of applying vs being scouted...
So we go over the events again, or as the game would probably put it, comb over The Longest, Most Ridiculous, Most Despairing Backstory to look for discrepancies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Don’t look so pleased with yourself!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
YES THANK YOU SHUICHI THANK YOU FOR STOPPING HER BEFORE SHE GOT STARTED AGAIN
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It.... it doesn’t???
Tumblr media Tumblr media
as;dflksdjf
U-Uuuuh Monokuma??? Are you just allowed to namedrop the title like that???
A-Anyway, this one was sort of vague - not sure if the game did too good a job of hiding it or not, but I certainly didn’t clue into this immediately because, well, I’d argue that Junko was ultimately the cause of this? And she was the original Ultimate Despair, even if Mukuro got roped into it with her? This felt a bit like being at a multiple choice exam where there are a few answers that are sort of right but not exactly right and then I cry
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AND MUKURO!!! I WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS MUKURO ERASURE, DAMN IT!!! can you tell she was one of my favourites in the first game if not my favourite
Tumblr media
“And that’s why, even though you are technically right, you are also wrong, and therefore will not get any points for your answer to this question.” sweetcheeks you sonuvab -
Tumblr media
despite the mukuro erasure, consider me team maki
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Can it, nerd.”
Tumblr media
It would have been really nice to have Maki in the first game.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We really are going over this piece by piece.
Okay, so now we’re reviewing the first game. They were forced to kill each other, then Junko was found out and killed herself in the end, which led to the eventual end of the Despair side....
Tumblr media
Shuichi is clearly onto something that I haven’t quite latched onto yet. 8′D
Tumblr media
This makes me think of how cool it would have been to have this text style in the previous games. Have I mentioned enough about how much I like the typography in drv3? Because I don’t know if that’s possible.
Tumblr media
OOOH that’s right - I forgot! Or, well, I didn’t forget, but it didn’t really occur to me that we were remembering that they were literally trapped in the school by Ultimate Despair, I guess.
Tumblr media
I guess the gist of it is that they’re remembering - well, not witnessing the events, but being told things were one way vs another. They would have been too young to have been alive at the time though, right? It seems to me that, though the game clearly wants us to take it a different way, we can also interpret this as them just being told the wrong thing within the memories themselves as opposed to the actual memories being entirely falsified. What if the reports at the time or the commonly-known story was that they had been locked in by Ultimate Despair, and it’s only the properly researched books like this that have the correct accounts? It’s not exactly an uncommon phenomenon for there to be widely-held mistaken knowledge/generalizations of famous events, unfortunately... 8′D
Anyway, I’m getting distracted because like I said, this is really not the angle the game is going with at all.
Tumblr media
BULLSHIT
AND ALSO
WHY WOULD A BOOK EXIST THAT DIRECTLY CONTRADICTS THE MEMORIES YOU GAVE THEM
LIKE
WHY DOES IT EVEN EXIST IN THIS PLACE AT ALL
I’m seriously fixated on this book!
also
Tumblr media
I love Shuichi just casually ignoring Junko!Tsumugi lmao
I’m calling her Junko!Tsumugi I refuse to call her Tsumugi!Junko I REFUSE TO GIVE UP ON TSUMUGI’S AUTONOMY
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This.... this one has to be it, right? This was the one thing I remember getting really confused by when they talked about applying! In fact, I had thought the whole reason Shuichi was considered the Ultimate Detective was because of the homicide case and if that resulted in him being at Hope’s Peak, it was because word of that had traveled - but then if it was an application, that means either his parents or his uncle would have applied on his behalf, right?
Tumblr media
this was a detail I remember remarking on and loving btw I got really sad when in Chapter 5 it started looking like they were all in the same class
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think more than the others, this is the big one. All that other stuff can be attributed to mistaken hearsay - but this? This is something they would have ‘directly experienced’.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh apparently he chose to come... despite feeling awkward about his title.
I wonder if he was pressured into it by his family....?
Or, uh. Let me correct myself. I wonder if, in this mistaken memory, he remembers being pressured into it by his family?
Tumblr media
I-I feel like I would trust the book over you guys especially considering the whole ‘we remembered Kokichi Ouma as a Remnant of Despair and got him killed as the fake mastermind’ situation tbh.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
well technically ultra despair girls is
Tumblr media
That is a good point. I mean, it could quite possibly happen underground, but I suppose the same could be said of the Jabberwock Island one - there’s no reason that should be public knowledge.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I mean, I know it’s nothing new, but bear with me here.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
H A L L E L U J A H
Tumblr media
REALLY
REALLY
MAKI, REALLY
YOU OF ALL PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW BETTER
Tumblr media
FUFCKFUCKING HELL GUYS YOU’RE KILLING ME HERE
Tumblr media
sdfkdslfj fukging
noOOONONO
Tumblr media
aND YOU! YOU SHUT UP TOO!!!!
Tumblr media
“Also have you seen their outfits? Do you realize how terribly they would clash? ‘Oh Saihara, why would that matter what do uniforms have to do with anything surely Kokichi and his uniformed clown posse could just be a branch under the Remnants’ NO THAT WILL NOT FLY WHEN THE HEAD OF THE ENTIRE ORGANIZATION LITERALLY DOUBLES AS THE ULTIMATE FASHIONISTA!!!”
this level of reasoning is possible for saihara shuichi
.... what do you think, everyone?
Tumblr media
And he still has the Supreme Leader title, even if these aren’t really their talents... there has to be something to that, right?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shu -
Shuichi
The words DICE were written in big words over his giant hella awesome throne
He has a checkered scarf which brings about a certain ‘game’ feeling
he literally challenged you to card games
I’m.... I’m just gonna throw it out there, but there’s a pretty good chance the group he led was called ‘DICE’.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
YOU SAW THE VIDEO YOU SAW IT DAMN YOU MAKI I KNOW YOU’RE BETTER THAN THIS YOU ARE SMARTER THAN THIS!!!!
Tumblr media
“Maki also said he literally said he didn’t know what she was talking about when she interrogated him with a crossbow literally aimed directly at him but surely that’s unrelated -”
Tumblr media Tumblr media

Tumblr media Tumblr media
I 100% bet Tsumugi was not counting on them finding this room. So.... beginning the trial, she tried to do a Kaede/Kaede’s twin mastermind thing. Then she switched tactics to being solely ‘Junko’ and her lackey Kokichi setting up the game with the last survivors of humanity as... revenge for Hope’s Peak, I guess? Or something.
So where are we going from here? Are we about to discover this was all a simulated scenario then?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sort of like they’re trying to test different outcomes and scenarios - with different talents, maybe? Is there the selected 16 (15? 14?) talents that can be switched around at will, or is there a larger database of students’ talents? That’s what I really want to know.
Tumblr media
But “there are an endless possibilities for lies,” a certain person may say.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
why are you all ganging up on me also how when two of you are literally the same person and the other one is an AI acting as an extension of you -
It sort of hit me but this is a weird echo of Korekiyo’s trial, with Junko and Tsumugi switching back and forth with each other the way Korekiyo and his sister did. I wonder if there’s something to that, or if it says something about Tsumugi in general...
(one hangman’s gambit later...)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
TALENTS ARE NOT THEIRS AND POSSIBLY ARBITRARY CONFIRMED
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I WOULD KILL FOR KOKICHI TO POP OUT OF THE GRAVE TO SHOUT IT’S A LIE RIGHT NOW
Tumblr media Tumblr media
FUCK YOU BEAR
Tumblr media
ghggkhgkh
that is a dangerous precedent to set
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But you weren’t planning on revealing this, right??? Right???? Your hand was totally forced! Don’t play this off like it wasn’t!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I swear I had a similar idea when I was coming up with how they could see themselves in photos/pictures if the students weren’t actually who they thought they were - about how their brain filled in the gaps and placed their own faces where they’d expect to see them (like in the funeral scene with the portraits, etc). Glad to know I was kinda right on that regard!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I really like it when they combine Junko and Tsumugi here. There’s probably something to that - when it’s Tsumugi herself acting as the mastermind, as opposed to just being ‘Junko’.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
T-Those are some pretty big inconsistencies though? Why would there be incorrect options in those flashback lights in the first place? What was there to gain for their being options where ‘Ultimate Despair trapped the first class in’ and ‘Junko is the end-all of Ultimate Despair’? At least Kokichi’s made sense to have on standby, but the other stuff? Isn’t their existence a bit weird?
Tumblr media
It’s... nice to see Shuichi focusing on Kokichi. Being posthumous and all it’s a bit late, but it’s still nice - especially after all that talk of ‘not understanding him’ and ‘the embodiment of a lie’, having him finally clue in to Kokichi’s real place in all of this - a victim of the mastermind - is good. It’s the perfect example of ‘the enemy of my enemy is my friend’ and Kaito figured that out last chapter, so it’s long past due for Shuichi to drag himself and everyone else to that conclusion, kicking and screaming if he must.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(he was jealous of Angie)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
because he was trying to stop the game!!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which, honestly, was pretty clever on her part. I think overall Kokichi will come out of this looking the best - he had so little going for him and almost succeeded in his coup - but the fact that Tsumugi was able to counter his surprise attack still says a lot about her own intelligence and her ability to adapt, because in that moment she also had limited options.
Tumblr media
THANK
YOU
LORD
WE HAVE GATHERED HERE TODAY TO SAY FAREWELL TO REMNANT!OUMA THEORY
REST IN PIECES AND NEVER COME BACK
Tumblr media
Pretty damn successfully, too.
Tumblr media
While the fact that her first inclination was to straight-up murder Kokichi was very Not Good, it’s at least good to know that it took the extra nudge of the flashback lights to push her over the precipice. Basically, it took turning Kokichi into a complete monster in her eyes - Despair with a capital D - to strip away his humanity entirely. I do wonder if she still would’ve staged a rescue mission of sorts to rescue Kaito? For that matter, I wonder if Kaito had been on the outside (with the Flashback Light used on him and everything) and it was someone else being held hostage like Shuichi, would he have been able to talk Maki down?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s interesting how they’re turning hope itself into a weapon here. I think Junko talked about this in the first game, the idea of giving hope out to maximize despair, so it’s not the first time the mastermind has actively used hope as a weapon - but it’s never felt quite as dirty as it does here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
!!! We’re seeing her as herself in the room!!! I guess it’s the flashback light classroom, but still!
Tumblr media
That is so unfair considering they were all being threatened with death, you were straight up messing with their brains and also that airlock exists??? And they straight-up collapsed after being exposed to the outside??? I’m
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think Shuichi managed to break away from that a bit at the end... maybe. He seems more motivated by righting the wrong in Kaede’s case at this point, and of avenging everyone who died - but the same can’t be said of the others.
Tumblr media
Man I even wondered what it would be like without Kaito and Kokichi there considering they’ve been the strongest ‘movers’ on both sides - and the answer ended up being ‘I’ll give you artificial motivation to act’.
Tumblr media
SHE’S.... REALLY A KILLING GAME FAN GIRL AFTER ALL..........
Oh, this does feel dirty. She’s lusting after them in an abstract way - like pieces on a chessboard. Kokichi was able to compartmentalize and make people take certain actions to an extent, but even he had attachments that he wasn’t able to shake. I knew it felt like she had managed to keep herself from getting too close to them, with the sole exception of the protectiveness she felt for Gonta (which?? I want to know if we’ll hear anything about that specifically???) but this is... wow.
Actually, this is very Komaeda-esque isn’t it? She wants to see them succeed in their battles against each other in a similar way...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Junko only gets that look when she’s actually mad. So if Tsumugi is sporting that... well, she must be smarting a bit underneath all the gloating she’s doing. She was happily spouting off ‘hints’ before, right?
Tumblr media
Oh??
Tumblr media
me too tbh
Tumblr media
OH THE TURNABOUT MUSIC IS HERE
