I was ranting to mom ab the uglies movie and how despite not having seen it, but having seen a video of a fan breaking down the differences, I'm LIVID at the changes. I literally went "Look at my boy! What did they do to my boy! My beautiful, stupid by choice, boy!! He didn't want to be a Special it is LITERALLY a plot point in the book!!! He doesnt go with them to the New Smoke bc he WANTS to stay a Pretty! They RUINED my boy!!!" Ab Peris and my mom was like how do you remember all that??? Like bc Uglies was a major hyperfixation for like a good 6 years??

And also like okay whatever you want a romantic relationship to toy in front of the audience BUT DAVID IS LITERALLY RIGHT FUCKING THERE! HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH TALLY IS LIKE A HUGE FUCKING THEME WITHIN ALL FOUR BOOKS!! Shay holds a grudge over Tally "stealing" David when she didnt even WANT to come to The Smoke in the first place is A MAJOR PLOT POINT!!! IT DRIVES ME INSANE!!

And while I'm sure laverne cox is an excellent Dr. Cable... isn't the area of Prettytown and shit like suuuper white?? Like isnt that an underlying plot like Tally seeing David and his family with their darker skin, is a shock along with their natural "ugliness" into adulthood?! And when they get to Diego she is suprised ab the different races?? And isnt she like shocked to meet Andrew Simpson Smith and he's not white?? And that (along with his looks/culture) shocking to her??? Like the whole point is to show HOW sheltered Pretties are in their town?? How sheltered Tally is?? LIKE HELLO?? Also at LEAST give Cable her signature gray hair and SHARP features!!

I think I'm mostly mad ab the whole Peris being made a Special thing bc like 1. He canonically did not want that and 2. It wasnt necessary in the plot to get tally to return??

Oh and Tally like canonically doesnt have romantic feelings for Peris once they're both Pretty like her attention moves to Zane. If you wanted to change a relationship from platonic to romantic Tally and Shay are literally right fucking there. That is a believable ship imo and didn't she return to save Shay??
