So for those unaware, dasnerth is apparently banned from Karl & MrBeast challenge, accord to the discord message he showed today (1/29/2024), (which notably is from 8/30/2023)

basically, as it stands, almost all the "content" you provide by being in a video almost always gets cut out because you're generally pretty toxic, you take the gameplay extremely seriously which makes your time on-screen inherently destructive / toxic. If you are genuinely super interested in not being blacklisted, if you could just refrain from being toxic we can lift the blacklist. It would also mean reporting any exploits instead of abusing them.

A message he published himself, claiming he was only being competitive.

I've seen in response, certain people claiming that this is unfair, that he needs to be defended, or that this will inevitably lead towards toxicity towards people like Sapnap/Punz/Hannah.

This is not true, and I think people need to understand that there is a line between being competitive and being toxic to be around and effectively unwatchable and making others uncomfortable.

First, take note for a moment that Dasnerth has been banned for well over 5 months, and despite being very clearly and flatly told he's unwelcome, he's not only still stalking the discord to try to join stuff, but also then turned to twitter to kick up a fuss about the ban still being enforced.

This is pretty telling of him as a person. He's clearly been told that he's blacklisted and unwelcome, and five months later he's still trying to sneak in. That is a very clear indication of failing to respect boundaries, feeling entitled to participate in contests, and being unable to take no for an answer.

Putting that aside though, you can still clearly draw lines between taking competition seriously and being a toxic asshole in a game. I think a really good example of this is actually, weirdly enough, 5up's lobbies.

If you don't know 5up, he's a guy who plays among us. When he was starting out, he often played with what were called "sweat lobbies". These lobbies often devolved into yelling, shouting, insults, etc. 5up was noteworthy for generally not falling to that level. You can watch how awful of a viewing experience this is here. These lobbies are very competitive, and also suck so bad 5up left despite generally being willing to tolerate a lot of bullshit.

Contrast this to his later lobby that he built with Hafu, a very experienced streamer with a much calmer vibe. The morning lobbies that they built are known for being relatively serious and competitive, but not being toxic messes. Here's a good example, In this game 5up played an amazing crewmate much like the XQC, and caught Steve and Tina (Tinakitten) as imposters. Tina's distressed but not angry or being mean, and Steve compliments him on figuring out! It's a complete flip of the above. People sometimes yell and get excited, throw a bit, or get a bit salty, but it's nothing like what you see above with the constant screaming and insults. People from other lobbies that are more chaotic come in and are generally surprised by how seriously they take stuff.

To go even further, 5up also plays in the stell lobbies, which are very competitive and take the game very seriously. Listen to a meeting in the stell lobbies. Nobody is yelling, even when directly accused. They all remain calm and polite. They're still playing the game very seriously, they're playing to win, but nobody's being toxic or mean.

There's a difference between being competitive in a fun way, where you take a game seriously and try to win, and just being an asshole and disregarding good sportsmanship. It's perfectly valid for contests to ban players for violating good sportsmanship and abusing exploits. Technoblade was a very competitive person, but even when he's being teasingly toxic to squidkid for example, it's clearly in good fun. The two of them became friends. There's a fundamental level of respect there, and nobody is going over the top.

So yeah, while we don't have the specific behavior cited, it's perfectly valid for an event to ban someone for being toxic, and no, banning someone for being toxic isn't bait or eliminating competitiveness. It's just showing an asshole the door.

ok so. tommyinnit told a story about mizkif being awkward. (tommyinnit has a podcast with jack manifold btw). mizkif took this personally (??? probably just wanted views tbh) (not to be a bitch at mizkif, but i saw the podcast and bros mad about nothing) and like talked shit about tommy for 30 minutes on his own stream. tommyinnit finds himself in one sided beef with random pathetic men on the internet. fork found in kitchen.

xqc comes to defend mizkif. tommy mocks xqc for being a trump supporter (and worse than that, being cringe about it). if you dont know who any of these people are, thats fine. at this point the plot has wondered so far away from the original beef that its irrelevant.

so dream comes out of LITERALLY FUCKING NOWHERE. no one even breathed in his direction. this beef was silly and funny but it was just kinda irrelevant streamers that fell off trying to scrape views off of bigger streamers. happens every day. who cares. anyway, dream tweets this:

streamers start hopping on to talk shit. because important context here: dream smp had some minors on the server who dream manipulated and abused throughout the duration. but now they are adults who are in therapy and are capable of telling their stories. honestly, theres 5 years of random bullshit that dream has done that he himself has unfortunately made relevant.

anyway, notably tubbo (tommys best friend) decides to do a stream recapping all the tweets that had been made at that point. and he talked shit about dream for a bit. as is his right. and now its a whole thing because dream called like 15 million people a slur. crazy.

jack manifold does a stream. hes promoting the podcast. as is his right. now, jack manifold has always hated dream and this was a whole thing in the past. anyway, for some fucking reason mizkif comes on and apologizes to jack (?????) even though his beef is with tommy???? and jack isnt having it but whatever. i assume mizkif apologized to tommy privately, but at this point, who the fuck cares.

so then tommy tweets something sarcastic in response to dream. so we thought it was mostly over. this is how his beef with logan paul and ksi went down. which btw tommyinnit told logan paul to kill himself on twitter a few months ago. hes my fucking hero.

were not done. i did not realize shit was just getting started. dream starts a stream at 2/3 am his time, and he streamed for FOUR HOURS. what the hell could he be talking about in those four hours? literally fucking anything but the slur he said. "i didnt mean to offend anyone guys 😭 now lets talk about the real problem at hand. tommyinnit ruined my friendship with quackity." which, btw, quackity split ways with him because hes extremely racist against hispanics and latinos. honestly, thats a whole other story. also, for the record ☝️😁 tommyinnit didnt cause punz to stop being friends with dream. actually dream slept with punz's girlfriend, and he wasnt too happy about that. source: the girlfriend. dont feel bad for punz he was a piece of shit, but that is also a whole other story. just wanted to correct the records.

anyway so it was a whole lot of that for four hours. the europeans wake up. tommy uploads a video on youtube addressing it. shit has escalated. here it is. its five minutes if you wanted to give it a watch. tubbo goes live and responds to dreams stream. he might still be live actually. he is as of me typing this out. on tubbos first stream, he offered to call dream and talk things out. dream did not respond. on this stream, tubbo had set up to call dream. dream bailed halfway through tubbos stream.

now dream is claiming that he is going to make a response video to tommys video.

honestly, dream has been a piece of shit to not only these people when they were children, but also the audience that both supported him or casually watched him. so it is very vindicating watching dream so desperately try to control the narrative and paint himself out into a victim and fail.

and also tommyinnit should be allowed to kill whoever he wants. send post.

I realize this is minor compared to He Yu later still thinking he’s as straight as a ruler while he’s preparing to fuck XQC and salivating at the prospect but this is long before fucking even occurs to him and he’s running his thumb over someone’s mouth and yet is incapable of even processing that stroking your former doctor/current enemy’s lips with your thumb’s is not a thing people do unless they are attracted...

You know what snagged my attention here? The fact that XQC feels rage. Overwhelming rage. GOOD! He should feel rage at how he is treated; he’s so buttoned down and so refuses to allow himself to feel and process things (probably because there is so much grief and rage and feeling of exhaustion and injustice) but what started as a saving mechanism is now terrible for him. I mean, this whole sequence is gonna take him apart and be horrible (hell, HY’s whole goal is for that to happen), so I am gonna take a small silver lining where I can get.

Meatbun keeps referring to HY as a dragon throughout but before it’s as if one with clipped talons etc and now he’s finally not bothering. But I love that image not just because of danger the it conveys but because it also conveys he’s not really human or with human reactions - he pretended to be and did so well, but he’s very other.

Oh my God, He Yu, if you were any gayer, you’d be the Pride Parade marshal. OMG. Seriously.

This said, “how did you find out you were gay?” “I decided to rape my former doctor and liked it” is not a coming out story one usually thinks about.

One of the things that is the grossest about all of this (I love the novel, am intrigued by the plot, love XQC, find HY fascinating as a character because as @momoliee​ put it there is no safety net with him - and it’s true you never know what he’s going to do and yet his behavior is both surprising yet utterly logical for his character BUT in terms of my feelings - I seriously seriously loathe HY and need him to be locked up forever and perhaps having every bone in his body broken for a month straight) is that while a lot of this is informed by HY’s subconscious being seriously gay and lusting after XQC for years (even if HY’s conscious mind doesn’t get it), just as much or more of it is driven by the fact that consciously, he wants to break and hurt and humiliate and torture XQC as much as possible. It really is rape as tool of punishment and and control and hurt (as it usually is.) Combined with HY’s toxic views on gender roles and sexuality, it’s such a toxic dump of a mess with so much of HY’s excitement coming from the fact that having sex with a man, let alone being raped by a man with having to be the “receiver” of such attentions, is the most unbearable thing he can do to XQC and that the top is totally masculine and fine and the bottom is humiliating and gross. Once again, totally realistic for HY to think that within his character parameters but makes me want to stab him through the face.

Also, He Yu is a huge idiot in addition to being a moral wasteland because he doesn’t even pause to think why he’s turned XQC into n1 enemy when at most, even if we take everything HY saw and thinks  he saw at face value, XQC was a professional and effective physician for him for 7 years, did his job well enough but did not develop any warm feelings towards him, didn’t like him/was afraid of him due to his condition (and let’s face it, if that was the case, He Yu has richly proven XQC justified in wanting to get the hell away) and gave him platitudes he did not believe in himself but convinced HY were a good credo. Is it a disappointment? Sure. But XQC is at most 1% responsible for HY’s state and misery. Why doesn’t he seek out his terrible family, who his beef should be with? Because he’s obsessed with XQC and because he has the brains of a plank, that’s why!

Orrrrrrrr....just a thought...XQC may call the cops! Unfortunately, I am sure he won’t. But he should. Because it’s clear He Yu is in one of his fits brought on by his condition so he’s not 100% all there and if he wasn’t in that fit, he wouldn’t do this however angry or broken or deceived or whatever he felt. BUT! If someone is capable of and performs violent rape when they have a fit, they should really not allowed to be at large in society. I don’t care if it’s jail or a mental institution, but they should be locked up to protect others.

The thing is, HY is once again not thinking at all - leaving aside morality, since he has none - how about self-preservation? Let’s say XQC doesn’t report him to the cops, if HY continues on his acting out path, someone else will or even without the trail of attention and scandal will definitely attract the notice of his parents and they only put up with him due to face. They have not one iota of affection so the moment he causes issues, he’s getting put away.
