this has been like a full 7 days in the making 😭😭 the art block that i felt coming on while doing ellen and ted hit me like an optimus prime sized semi truck this week along with a depressive episode so i definitely appreciate that happening and i am not upset about it at all! /s i’m totally good so don’t worry or anything /gen, mental health is just weird and i also wanted to explain the gap in my posts 😔

his wife n kids are up top and they’re kinda neat to me— i was considering the hc that part of the reason manya (his canon wife) left him is because she realized she was a lesbian which would be funny as fuck considering benny’s also One Of Them Queers 😭. i think during the brief times he was home and able to parent his daughters they got really scared and tired of him, one because he’s just a very threatening powerful and overbearing man, but also because i feel like he would’ve been on their ASS about everything. grades, extracurriculars, friends, wardrobe, this guy was micromanaging his family to an annoying extreme (ofc because of his perfectionist complex). he probably loved manya and the kids in his own weird way, but it was more contractual to him than any real personal relationship. maybe he inherited that from his own parents?? i doubt he ever talked to them after he moved out.

Gonna rant bc I need to feel not crazy for once!!! I've been trying to get into animation school for 2 years going on my 3rd application VERY soon (like end of the year soon) And I'm SO TERRIFIEDDD

For the process you send in a portfolio and 4 assignments, they judge you based on those and if they like what they see, you get invited for an interview. If you pass this congrats you're in!! I got rejected twice already before even getting invited for an interview and getting a chance to defend my work.

They don't give you a shred of feedback after rejecting you btw, when I asked they told me to visit the open school day when students and teachers can answer questions.

Its made it so fucking difficult to try to adjust my work or know what to improve on because when I actually DID go to the open school days teachers gave me nothing answers and critiques like "you only draw girls" (I don't) and "go draw in a forest or something". Plus, for any review of your portfolio you have to go to students for feedback which I would be all for were it not for the fact that last time I went to their open school day I LITERALLY OVERHEARD PROFESSORS talking about how they don't do portfolio reviews bc if a student doesnt get in after a teacher gives the OK its shitty for the teachers/school. Oh okay so you're just pushing the EXACT problem onto your students? Every single time I go the students only have positive things to say and doesn't often send me in the right direction either.

I'm trying to push through and get to where I need to be to get accepted into the program so I'm dissecting the animation program's website page because it lists qualities they seek but some are so vague.. And the vibe I get from current/past students of the program I've talked to seem to be that they want you to experiment with anything and everything and kinda be some multitalented art beast but also be your own person and have a "style" to your work and its actually driving me insane.

Lately I've been really thinking about what I want my art to be. I'm trying to think of the things I love but I'm worried my interests aren't "varied" enough for this school, all my work is the same to me and it's so difficult to do something that's different but still something you want to do... It also doesn't help that I very likely have ADHD and can't get treatment for at least 20 weeks which is already too long to get any help before the application deadline. The ADHD gives me such a mental block to try and work on any art. Everything feels like it's wrong or a waste of time in the grand scheme of things bc yeah studies and trying things is one thing but they also want finished works?? I just want to work on my art and pursue this because I love art and getting into this program is my dream rn...

I just want to be good enough to get in upcoming year, I know its possible bc my bestie who is currently studying game art at the same school got in on their second attempt once they were really working on pieces they wanted to make. I just hope that my efforts will be enough and rewarded 😔 I'm still gonna apply because I've become vengeful to get in to stick to them.

My first post!

This is a side blog, but its my first post as a developer! Let me catch you up on all the progress so far. I want to walk more. I don't walk as much as I do and there's not much motivation to walk more, especially when i'm tired or uninterested. I thought i'd download a fun stepcounter like game app on android to motivate me! But the games that involve the stepcounter aren't really that fun. So for a while i've had this interest to build a game that motivates me to walk more that is actually fun. Originally the plan was to build an app that would move an in-game character whenever I moved so I can watch my character move in game while I was walking and enjoy the same type of scenery my character does. The fun bit, is that the game character would be walking through my favorite game worlds, like Hyrule Field etc. Sorta like that wii fit game where you would walk through the island. But after some consideration I realized that's not really fun. And I can't really walk and look at my phone screen at the same time... so I scrapped that idea and went with this:

I thought, well if I want an in-game character to move with me maybe I should just make it as simple as possible, make the character move somewhere (and make it meaningful)! So me, as an unexperienced developer, might just be able to pull it off! The basic idea is that you walk in real life, build up step 'currency', and then use that in-game step currency to send your little character off to different locations!

After a few minutes of walking we can send the character off on an adventure! I'm still brainstorming on how to make the sit-down or loop portion of the game fun and engaging, but my main goal is to get the player to avoid walking in one solid long burst but rather in multiple small bursts. So maybe 5 or 10 minutes. That way the you're not locked out of playing the game but also you don't just immediately burn yourself out. Now i'm still thinking of how the game mechanics work but since this is my first time making a game i'm still learning, experimenting, and researching as I go. Basically I just want to make myself walk a little more. I can sorta draw, so i'm not really too worried about the in-game art. I want the player and the road area to be 3d and I have a little experience with blender so i'm not too worried about creating assets and what not, but I have 0 experience with making or drawing materials so I think it'll be a fun learning experience. I want the backgrounds to be sorta like sprites.

Here's the idea, I took the sprite off an image from google dot com. But imagine the background being trees, or desert, or ocean, and the far background being mountains, sky, hills, etc. I'm not sure how i'm gonna pull it off but I want to keep it simple so its easy to build and also not too taxing on mobile devices. The pink block is just a stand-in asset that was quick and easy to impliment. I'll probably rig up a chibi like 3d character that can walk but that'll be near the end of the project. So, that's everything I was able to set up in the last 10 days. I'm a very slow programmer and developer, and everything. So this might take me a while to set up. I want to play this game as soon as possible so I don't want to spend too much time thinking or making it super pretty. But idk we'll see how long this project takes. I want to build the basic core loop asap to see if its sorta fun. Next step is to show an array list of towns the player can choose from, choose a town, spend the steps, make the player animate, and at the end reward the player, and repeat the process. That'll be the most basic loop. I think I can do without too much hassle. Thanks for reading this far! ok so here’s the deal once upon a time in 2020 instead of paying attention to my online classes i was on reddit drawing a banner for the stardustcrusaders subreddit for a contest (stardustcrusaders is the “main”/non-meme jojo subreddit, idk if the name was changed to be more general since ive last logged onto reddit). i ended up winning the contest (because i was the only one that entered) and this drawing was the banner for a hot minute (no idea how long they kept it up though but i think it got replaced once the stone ocean anime got announced). 5 years later its a little mid but i still made it

well anyways my plan is to redraw it just for fun, but now with jodio, a whole jojo thats been introduced since this drawing. i also thought it would be nice to draw them all together with my newer style where i am a little better at drawing

i got the basic posing down tho i kinda forgot how to draw jojo characters so ill have to work myself up back to that

(jodio’s pose is based on his first teaser from araki’s year of the rabbit art 😊) i have no idea how i wanna handle the colors. idk if i wanna commit to a universal color scheme for the whole piece like what araki does (plus i like how colorful a bunch of palettes can make the drawing) but i guess i’ll figure that out when i do the cleaner pass of the lineart

im also gonna take the concept from the original where the backgrounds for each jojo is an important location from their respective story, though i might change some (as well as draw them more clearly). plans:

jonathan’s will be the same as the night backdrop during his final battle with Dio With A Body, since a night sky is both needed contrast for all the bgs + a night sky is very iconic to phantom blood’s aesthetic identity

joseph’s was the hardest character to pin a background for, so i’m gonna lift from the original piece and do the alps near where caesar and wammu had their battle. i chose this since i reeeaaally wanted to draw joseph with his cute hat and jacket (worn over his most well known look) and this was the part of the story where he wore this outfit

jotaro’s will also be the same as the original and be dio’s egyptian mansion seen from the outside (based on the spirit photograph taken of it), i cant really imagine anything more fitting

josuke’s is gonna be the same too being the corner near the owson convenience store, which is where the ghost alley is located by. i originally wanted the ghost alley straight up, but i wanted the yellow sky in morioh seen in the anime and it doesnt appear in the alley there, and also josuke was kind of blocking the way to show that it’s the alley so i just went for the next best thing

giorno’s bg was originally the sardinan coast which is where one of his allies died in order to give the biggest lead on the boss of passione’s identity. but i might change it to the colosseum at dusk, which is where the final battle takes place

jolyne’s was the general location of where the heavy weather arc takes place (hence the rainbows) since the rainbows are another iconic aesthetic with part 6 (something funny is someone in my post of the original asked if the rainbows represented jolyne being queer, but i’ll take it). i looove the rainbows and it spices up the background array but like. if i had to pick one important location from stone ocean to represent in this art is the gas station at the end!!!! i’ll probably slip in a little rainbow there just as a treat 🤭

johnny’s is the devil’s palm with the skull sun seen in its explanation panel. the dusty sky is another nice mixup in colors in the bg, plus the devil’s palm is an important element in the lore of the second continuity

josuke8’s background was a vague approximation of the walleyes in morioh. i didnt finish jojolion at the time but i do think the walleyes are an iconic part of jojolion’s beginning. i also like the pink sky. though for the redraw i might draw the higashikata house, since the familial relations of the higashikatas is an important part of jojolion’s plot + it’s where a lot of the final confrontation happens. but idk that might be a bit rigid so we’ll see how it ends up in practice

jodio is the newbie! though admittedly i am a few chapters behind on jojolands so i wanna catch up before i settle on anything! also since jojolands isnt even 50 chapters in there may be a location that’s super important to the story or characters that we haven’t seen yet, so that will probably something that will date this redraw :p we shall see….

as you can see i have many thoughts to fuel this so i’m excited to see it through ^_^!!!!

His scar is supposed to kinda look like a cross but idk if that came out so well ?? and it made his hair line all funkied up :(

What are some of your favourite Glee ships and why? I'm thinking like... top five? Or more if you feel like it :)

ooh this is a fun one because anything after my top ship can and will change at the drop of a hat lmao

1: brittana

hopefully this will come as a shock to no one aksdjhfsk,,, brittana is actually a ship i found out about before i watched glee. like i would see all of these compilations on youtube of glee moments out of context, and idk how exactly but it led to seeing clips of brittana. i remember being salty bc some of my friends at the time had seen glee and not a single one of them told me that there was a wlw relationship i would've liked lol.

but yeah there's just something really compelling about getting to see these two girls who start out as background characters with funny one-liners grow into an actual couple that gets happily married in the end. especially because i don't remember really seeing any wlw relationships get any kind of focus or open acknowledgement before brittana? at least not any relationships that lasted more than a couple of episodes? and maybe i just wasn't watching the right shows bc i only started watching glee less than 2 years ago lol but their development on the show, while very flawed thanks to the writers, was just super special for me. and it still is. i have a lot of love for them and even though i haven't drawn much brittana lately, i'd like to think that my love for them shows in some of my older art :)

also? wanting to draw brittana is what got me out of months-long art block and depressive episode where i just did not have any inspiration or motivation to draw anything, and it quickly became the catalyst for so much of the artistic growth i've made over the past almost 2 years. idk if that means much to u guys but to me it really means the world and i don't think i even have the words to explain it asksdhfk i just. i love them a lot.

2: hevans

ok listen to be completely honest, i don't think about hevans that much but once in a while i think about s2 hevans and how that would've been so nice? like,,, s2 sam was so refreshing because he arrived at a time where i was used to seeing the glee boys (finn and puck in particular) being like "oh we get called gay for being in glee club and associating with kurt, a gay kid :( and that's bad :( we don't like the idea of being seen as gay :(" and sam just did not care. he didn't care that singing a duet with another guy might be seen as weird, he didn't care that he might get bullied for it, he just cared that kurt had a lovely voice and he wasn't gonna go back on his promise to sing with kurt. and then we got rumours and kurt not even hesitating to keep sam's secret, even though his friends immediately accused him of cheating on blaine. idk hevans just had this bond in s2 that wasn't explored enough after that, and then sam was dumbed down in s4 and onwards and ugh i miss s2 sam goddammit fuck the writers for turning him into whatever the fuck we got in s4-6

also hevans makes me consider an artist!sam x model!kurt au? like when i drew kurt as the boy with a basket of fruits i could picture sam being a painter and having kurt as his model/inspiration, and i have a second very unfinished wip based on another painting in the same vein. lowkey veering into a picture of dorian grey moment now lol but is that not compelling??? i can't believe i only thought of that just now aksdjhf i love that book,,, also there's yet another painting i'd like to redraw as hevans but who knows when i'll get around to it

3: quinntina

i don't think the writers were ever gonna give us quinntina and idk if there are even many quinntina moments in the show aside from like,,, teeny tiny background moments here and there. also the show butchered them both so i'm not basing this ship in canon at all. i just think they would have an interesting dynamic i guess? popular girl quinn fabray and shy tina cohen-chang possibly wishing they could switch positions for a while because quinn is exhausted from all the pressure she puts on herself and tina wonders what it would be like to be in the spotlight? slowly bonding in glee club because tina realises quinn isn't the bitch tina assumed she'd be, and quinn finds it refreshing to be around a sweetheart like tina? indulging each other's dramatic moments but also keeping each other grounded? the mental image of tina helping quinn dye her hair pink? that time in s6 where we got half a quinntina duet in jagged little tapestry, which for the record, i think would've been a mashup of so far away and ironic? (also, vb au quinntina sharing the brain cells of the friend group?) idk i think it would've been nice and i am once again cursing the writers

4: wildebrams

i don't have much of an actual explanation as to why i like wildebrams because it feels like i haven't seen s4-5 in forever, but iirc their relationship allowed us to see a much softer side to kitty and i really loved that. like,,, kitty being nervous about committing to a relationship but then opening up to the glee club about her feelings for artie? wholesome shit i love it

i can't think of anymore ships rn because i'm not deeply invested in any ships besides brittana but this feels like a solid mini list. i feel like im forgetting a lot of the big ones so feel free to specify any other ships you'd like me to talk about :)

"Zuko couldn’t get over her eyes. She was looking past the camera towards the man who took it. Zuko could see clear as day the love she held for Sokka in her gaze.

It was a perfect moment that Sokka had captured. No wonder held it with him at all times. If someone had looked at Zuko like that, he’d never want to see anything again.

As he took in the photograph, Sokka sat next to him in silence. His hand was clutching the ring around his neck again in his fist, pressing it close to his mouth as he peered over Zuko’s shoulder to look. Zuko turned to him to compliment the picture and saw a sad fondness lingering in his eyes."

this is a scene i wrote a while ago thats gonna appear in a much later chapter. but yeah. more yue angst for you guys im so sorry.

"Mister Sokka," a little voice wishpered in his ear as he felt tiny pokes on his cheek, "Wake up Mister Sokka."

"Good morning to you too Izumi," Sokka responded wearily as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes. He looked towards the little girl who was standing on her tippy toes to see over the edge of the bed and poke his face until he rose.

She smiled at him once she realized he was awake.

"Can we have pancakes?" She asked shyly, hiding her mouth just below the edge of the bed as she looked up at him with hopeful eyes.

That look was going to be dangerous for him later on, he could aready tell.

"Sure thing, Izumi, just let me sleep for five more minutes, mkay?" He asked as he shut his eyes again. He was exhausted from last nights events, and the sun had barely risen. How did Zuko do this?"

this is a scene from the next chapter of this fic. so much sokka and izumi bonding you guys are gonna explode hehehe.

"“Sokka I really think you need to take a moment and-”

“I am fine Aang, I don’t have time for a feelings talk right now. Right now I need to find the fucking chief of this damn place.” His words came out harsher than he meant, but he didn’t have the time to dwell on that.

Before Sokka could run off again to continue his search, a hand grabbed his arm. One of Arnook’s advisors, Malina, had started dragging him towards the podium.

“Do you not realize how late you are for this Sokka? The ceremony was supposed to begin with your speech nearly an hour ago-” she hissed at him as she pulled him along through the crowd.

“Malina I’m sorry but I really need to speak with Arnook it is urgent-”

“This damn speech of yours is what’s urgent right now Sokka, you can speak with Arnook later but the guests are getting antsy so you need to give your speech right. Now.”

“But-”

“Now.”

Maline shoved Sokka towards the podium and suddenly all eyes were on him. Every guest in attendance had their focus solely on Sokka."

zuko is a little shit part 2. the amount of sarcasm i have dripping off of heath ledger zuko is glorious. let zuko be a little shit. i havent added to this in months but when i finish some of my other wips i cant wait to get back to this.

i have more wips and drafts saved but none of them have anything juicy or funny or interesting yet because all of them are like less than three pages so far

I especially love your use of colors and textures :) Everything is so bright and colorful, but still cohesive. And your images are so clear without being overly detailed! It’s all literally perfection!!!

I like to draw digitally as well and your art-style is a huge inspiration for me. So I wanted to ask if you have any work in progress videos or pictures? Or if you could explain your process in general? Like, are you using a sketch layer underneath, with how many layers are you normally working, what kind of brushes do you use or any tips overall to improve digital painting?

Hey!! So first of all thank you so much for everthing you said about my art, I really appreciate it! But also omg thank youuu for this amazing ask like this is for real the kind of ask I've always wanted to get, where a total stranger is interested in my process XD So yeah don't worry about asking a lot of questions, they were great and I loved them!

Also I'm super flattered that my art has inspired you in your own digital art journey and I hope the stuff I say here can also help somewhat! This will get pretty long so sorry in advance everyone for making you scroll so much cause for some reason the read more option doesn't work on mobile :/

But anyway to answer your questions!

Sadly I don't have videos but I do have some pics I'll share. This is actually my second attempt at answering this because before I was going to use some WIP pics of the Majid drawing as example but then I didn't want to because it was in black and white and color is kind of one of the main things I like to emphasize in my art so I wanted to talk about it in the example XD Then I started a couple new drawings and was taking pics of those but I got super artblocked, but luckily I just finished one out of the blue that I can use. Okay so... I started answering this, again, and it was getting way too long and rambly so I'm gonna try to keep it simple this time and maybe I can elaborate more another time if you're still interested/ if anyone else wants know X'D

My process in general: I always start by making a simple basic background to work on, just fill it in and add some blotches of color. Then on a new layer I just start painting the subject, no sketch, so again just laying down some colors (I usually take whatever color in the bg is closest to skin tone and adjust the new color from there) and I just start blocking some shapes in aproximately the right places to start defining where things will be and how they fit together and just go from there. It's hard to explain it more cause that's kinda it, I just paint until things look like they're supposed to or at least visually appealing enough XD I add or adjust whatever colors seem necessary along the way (in this particular drawing I left the darker values until way too late which I don't recommend) and just refine and refine and refine things and add as many or as few details as I feel like, working on everything simmultaneously bit by bit.

Layers: like I mentioned before there's no sketch, and I try to use as few layers as possible so usually I'll have about 3-5. One for the basic background, one to three (though sometimes I merge them) additional layers for more background effects/colors/value fixes that I usually add later in the process, and I try to have just one for the subject. Sometimes I have one or two more if I'm feeling too hesitant but I always merge them in the end.

Brushes: I only use one brush at 50% opacity the whole time for everything. It's a squarish/rectangular brush that has some sort of jagged edges and a bit of a watercolory texture.

Tips: so this part is especially hard cause like.. I feel like any tips I could give are only applicable to drawing portraits and even then it'd be for doing it in the particular way that I prefer.. Like for example I could say it's best to work on every area at the same time and never spend too long one thing before moving on to the next but.. some people actually prefer finishing the eyes completely before moving on to the nose for example you know? So honestly the main thing I'll say is kinda to just experiment with a lot of methods and styles and see what works or doesn't work for you. Something that I think always helped me a lot was watching speedpaints of people who were more skilled than me and had a distinct style, just literally watch how they did their thing and every once in a while I might notice something I'd be interested in trying for myself and yeah with practice and experience you just kinda figure out what kind of things you not only like seeing but actually want in your own art. Like years ago I used to sketch but then I saw enough videos of people painting without sketching that I wanted to try it and I realized it's just more fun and makes more sense to me that way. So yeah try lots of different things and see what works for you and what you want to incorporate into your own art style!

Some more standard digital art tips I could give I guess are like.. the thing I said about not spending too much time on just one area (if it applies to your prefered process XD). Flip the drawing every now and then to catch stuff that's off. Stay zoomed out as much as possible and when you do zoom in for details always keep an eye on how the bigger picture's looking. Take your time finding or arranging a good reference pic that really inspires you cause it'll save you time and frustration later. And aaa idk I could say more but I don't think it's that informative or helpful, and all of this is probably really basic obvious stuff anyway and this is long enough as it is so yeah I'll leave it there...

I hope any of this can help in some way or that I've at least answered your questions in a satisfying enough way haha And finally here are some of the WIP pics I took. Where you can see some parts of the process. I did a lot more after that last pic but yeah at that point it's just about fixing little things, refining and adding details, but there you can see the color adjustment thing I usually do as the very last step (though not for this pic). I don't always have to do it, and there are probably times when I shouldn't, but I almost always like to do it anyway and that's why my colors look so exaggerated and bright XD I usually make the midtones more red and/or magenta, the shadows more blue, and the highlights more yellow (and sometimes a bit cyan) but if you wanna try something like that it's definitely fun to experiment with the different color possibilities ;u;

And yeah that's it for now! I'm sorry this is so long, and this was the short version lol I hope you like the answers at least a fraction of how much I loved the questions X'D

ship (Levi Ackerman x Reader)

You and Hange are seated on the bleachers in front of the soccer field as you watch the football team do their warm-ups.

“And you invited me here because?” you asked Hange who never spoke ever since you arrived, which is probably a good 5 minutes.. 

“Levi is attractive.” you rolled your eyes at her statement. “So, why not?” she asked looking at you. “Ugh, Hange for the last time i am not asking him out and no, I don't like him! Why did you even invite me here, aren’t you supposed to be in class?!” you said. “Shouldn’t you be at class too?” Hange said. “My classes are done.” you said. 

The both of you looked back when you heard a thud, but you saw no one so the both of you  just shrugged it off.

Hange begged you to stay and watch the whole training of the football team. You picked your things up and started walking down the bleachers to go back to your dorm. “You guys should really date, you look good together.” Hange said. “How do you know we look good together?” you asked. She opened her ipad and showed a sketch of the both of you. “What the hell?! Hange, i know you’re an art major but what the fuck?” you pulled turned the ipad off and looked around to make sure no one saw the drawing. 

You were roommates with Hange and ever since he laid eyes on Levi and you, she never stopped talking about how you should date the football player. 

Levi is not a stranger to you, to the both of you. 

The 3 of you sat beside each other during the first year orientation, you started to hangout with Hange often and you shared a couple of classes with Levi, 

But you are not friends with him, more of like a colleague as you always explain to Hange. 

You never shared deep conversations, you never hung out with him, and you never talked to him at parties.

But, (as to what will Hange say)

You watched his games.

You wish him good luck.

You congratulated him if they win.

You shared your homework with him.

You wished him a happy birthday

You get invited to parties and you see him there, but you only nod at each other. 

There are obviously no reason to agree with Hange. 

Although he is cute, he is quite popular, very quiet, classy, and mysterious. Levi is like the man who came out of a YA movie and every girl liked him. 

The next day you were walking in the hallways of you building, you saw levi, so you smiled and continued to walk, but you were surprised when he suddenly sat in front of you at the cafeteria during lunch.

You raised your eyebrows-

“What’s not to like about me?” he asked. “Excuse me?” you asked confused. 

“Yeah, what's not to like with my friend.” A brown-haired man sat beside you. “See, I heard you talk about him with Hange the other day, so i asked Hange if you liked him and she said no, so now we are asking you if you don’t like my friend.” The brown haired guy, who is probably his teammate said. “Sorry, what is happening? and  why are you bugging me?” you asked. “I just wanted to know.” Levi said. 

You stood up and prepared to leave--

“Go out with me then, if you still don’t like me then i’ll leave you be.” Levi said.  

You are completely dumbfounded and confused with what's happening, so you just left and ignored Levi’s question.

Miche laughed and looked at Levi who was looking at the retreating figure of the girl he just asked out. 

Levi glared at Erwin which made him stop laughing. “You shithead said it was gonna work” Levi started to walk away from the table. The blonde man stood beside him and draped his arm over at Levi’s. “ I said just ask her out, because obviously your little stunts with Hange is not working on her. Come on man, it's been 2 years, grow some balls and just ask her--” “I just did, she ran away. Are you bind?” Levi said with red ears and red face. 

You became Levi’s apple of the eye.

Ever since that freshman orientation, he wanted to ask you out many months ago but football happened. So instead of confessing his feelings to you, he confessed to Hange instead.

“I like y/n.” Levi said as he blocked Hange’s way. “Okay? Obviously i’m not her, so don’t expect me to blush and pass out. Excuse me.” she said and left. 

That day Levi couldn’t focus on training, he injured his foot. 

“Get well soon, Levi” 

Levi almost choked himself when he heard your voice, he looked up to say thanks but he was speechless, damn your such angel, he thought. So he just nodded. 

The only people who knew about his feelings were Hange, who is not even his friend, as of the moment and Miche, his teammate who ‘just’ knew. 

Levi can’t remember how he managed to convince Hange to set him up with you. 

“It’s not working anymore, ask her out yourself.” Hange said over the phone one day after practice. “Of course it won't work you asked her to ask me out who the hell does that?” 

“It’s the 20th century girls are allowed to do that.” Hange explained. “I know, but you only ask people you like SHE doesn’t like me.” 

Levi is frustrated as ever.

When he dropped the phone. Miche was already behind him. 

“Go shower, you smell like shit.” said Miche. Levi gave him the middle finger and went to the bathroom. 

“You know if you really like her! Man up and ask her out yourself!” Miche shouted. 

And that’s how he found himself asking you out on a very random day.. And time. 

And.. now you left.. 

You probably think of him as a weirdo.

“And then I left.”

You are now hanging out with Hange to continue your interrupted lunch a while ago. You told her about what happened. 

“And I know its rude to not answer him and leave but i was pretty shocked” you explained.

“Well, what would you say if you didn’t leave?” Hange asked. 

You opened your mouth to speak but no words came. 

“Okay, Do you think I should go out with him?” you asked. 

“Excuse me? Did your little mind forgot how long I was convincing you?” Hange raised her brows. 

You bit your lip and grabbed your phone to call Levi. 

“You have his phone number?” Hange asked. “Yeah, academic purposes.” you said and dialled his phone.

Levi couldn’t believe what he was seeing. 

You are calling him. 

You.

The girl he likes you.

Y o u 

“Oh for fucks sake Levi answer the goddamn phone.” Miche said.

“Hello?”

“Uhh, hi is this Levi?” 

“Yes.” 

“Oh, uhm, hi Levi I-i just wanted to apologize a while ago, I didn’t mean to leave like that I was just-just you know, shocked.” 

He was smiling, like a fool. 

“That’s fine.” Levi said. He looked at Miche who is mouthing ‘ASK HER OUT!!’ 

“Yeah so about that--” 

“Can we meet? I’m at the field.” you said. 

Levi is on his way to the field his mind is in rumbles on what’s gonna happen. 

Did Hange told her? 

Is he gonna get rejected?

What the hell? 

He didn’t even start? 

You’re seated on the bleachers when he arrived. He looked at you and he just cant help but admire your face as your hair was blown by the wind. 

You smiled at him.

“Hey” your said. 

Levi just gave you a nod. 

“So a while ago, uhm..-”

“Do you still want to go out with me?” Levi asked. 

You bit you lip to prevent you smile as you nod. 

“Really? Seriously?” Levi excitedly asked. 

“Yeah.” you said as you chuckled. 

“Okay so uhm, when are you free?” Levi asked. “Anytime” you said. “Movie? Tomorrow night? -- oh no, that sucks. Uhm, dinner tomorrow at the diner, okay with you?” 

“Yeah, that’s okay with me.” you said. 

“Great, see you then.” Levi said and just looked at you. 

“So, i’ll go now.” you said. 

Levi nodded, so you started walking away. 

You went back with a smile on your face thinking about what just happened.

Soooo I’m just gonna be real with you and say I have no clue how long you’ve waited so patiently for this and also thank you for that! Funnily enough, I actually made an artist OC girlfriend for him....a bit ago actually....pretty sure she was the last thing I posted. SO THIS WAS PERFECT! THANK YOU! I hope you love it!

Mira sighs in frustration at the blank page in her sketchbook. Her most recent assignment was just to sketch a male portrait and for some reason she was struggling with it. She’s looked up multiple reference photos to use for inspiration but hasn’t been happy with any of her previous drawings. She glances at her phone when she gets a text from Midorima asking if they were still meeting today. She replied with a quick yes saying she was home and to just come in the door would be unlocked. She put her phone down going back to her sketchbook attempting to start again. She was mostly through the basic outline when someone knocked on her door. She sighs putting her sketchbook aside and standing up already knowing who was at the door.

“You know I said you could just come in. I left the door unlocked for you.” Mira said opening the door.

“It’s rude to just walk into someone else’s home nanodayo.” Midorima plainly states fixing his glasses.

Mira rolls her eyes smiling and moves to let him in, “Come in. Excuse the mess.”

Mira followed Midorima into the apartment, stopping in the living room to look around. Being his girlfriend did not spare her the not so subtle judgmental looks he would send her way now and then. Like the one she’s receiving right now after seeing the crumpled up pieces of paper, pencils, and erasers that littered her living room floor and chair.

“I tried to warn you.” Mira simply shrugged, moving past him to start picking up the mess.

He stands there watching her another second before moving to help her clean up, occasionally inspecting the paper he’s picking up.

“What is all of this?” He finally asks, standing up and smoothing out one of the papers.

She turns her attention to him, “One of my failed attempts at my most current assignment.” 

He looks back up at her from the paper, “Assignment?”

She nods. “Yeah I’m in art school right now and my class assignment was just a male portrait.”

“And it hasn’t been coming along very well I take it.”

“Not at all, technically they’re all pretty sound, but I just don’t like any of them.” 

Midorima throws away the last paper and looks back to her, “Is there anything I can do to help?”

Mira shrugs, “Not really unless you think you can model for me.”

At first it’s just an offhanded response to his question, but after a second of serious consideration she stops and looks at him.

He notices after a second and quickly shakes his head, “Mira no, that is not happening.”

“Hey you offered, come on, I’ve had art block all week so far and this is due in two days.”

He continues to stare at her for a second before sighing and looks away from her, “What do you need me to do?”

She smiles at him and looks around grabbing a chair and moving it by the window, “Just sit here and don’t move until I tell you to. We can take breaks if you need but I should still get it done today.”

Midorima nods sitting in the chair a little stiffly, “Like this?”

Mira looks over him and smiles, “Try to make this as natural as possible. And make sure you’re comfortable, you’re going to be in whatever position you choose for a while.”

He shifts a bit to get comfortable before turning back to her, “Is this ok.”

She looks at him again, picking up her sketchbook and charcoal pencils from the floor and moves to where she’ll be sitting to see how everything should look.

“Can you turn your head a bit more towards the light?”

He does as she asks, glancing in her direction for approval.

She smiles at him and nods, “Perfect, like I said if you need a break to stretch or use the bathroom or need something just let me know, I can always move my lamp by you if need be, natural lighting is usually better.”

He nods thanking her and then she gets to work on her drawing, working off of the outline she’d started before he showed up. A little over an hour into the process she looks up to check on him.

“Hey, still doing ok?”

He nods not moving from his position, “I’m fine.” 

She smiles going back to work looking between him and the sketchbook. Mira stopped a bit later setting down the sketchbook and pencil.

“You can go ahead and get up and stretch. I'm taking a break for a second.”

Midorima nodded getting up and stretching, “Are you nearly finished?”

Mira looks down at her sketchbook and nods, “Just about, mostly just shading at this point. Thank you again for helping with this, I really appreciate it.”

“Just don’t expect it to be a common thing to happen.” He grumbles looking away from her.

She smiles and goes into the kitchen to grab a bottle of water for both of them before going back into the living room. He takes the water nodding thanks.

“Ready to get back to it?” She asks taking a drink and setting her water aside.

He nods setting the water down and getting back into his chair. She settles back down getting situated to start drawing again. She looks over her drawing as she finishes and looks up at him.

“Alright you can get up now, I’m done.”

Midorima gets up and stretches again and then comes over to look at the drawing.

She looks up at him and smiles, “What do you think?”

He looks over her shoulder down at the drawing, “It looks good, I’m impressed.”

She looks up at him and smiles, “Thanks. I actually have something to turn in now.”

She closes her sketchbook and looks at the clock, “It’s getting pretty late, I’m sorry I kept you here for this most of the day.”

He looks at the time and shrugs, “I planned on spending most of the day here anyhow. So I guess how it was spent doesn’t matter much. I should head home though, it’s getting late.” 

She nods towards the kitchen, “Did you want to get something to eat before you go?”

He shakes his head, “That’s ok, thank you though. I’ll talk to you again soon.”

She smiles and nods walking him to the door, “I’ll see you soon.”

She leans up and kisses him on the cheek, causing him to blush slightly and grumble before quickly kissing to top of her head and rushing out the door saying goodbye. Mira chuckles closing the door behind him.

HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT, this chapter??!!??. Okay where to start…. I really liked the stuff with Marcy and Aldo, I loveee all the Wally stuff!!! He is always a joy to see in your fic. I’m just gonna head into the juicey bits now because I have a lot more to say about that stuff. I love all the riddles n stuff!! Definitely seems like something andrias would do and I think They are pretty smart, the plant monster thingy!! I love em. LADY OLIVIA HOLY SHIT NO, my girl 😭 how much she cares about Marcy here,,, it just breaks my heart omg. Tbh I don’t know how to describe this but like, obviously I hate andrias he is the worst, but I like him in a certain way? like he is very interesting (both in canon and in your fic) the whole collar thing is like,,, idk it’s just horrible but I also really like the concept and everything. all of the wit stuff is probably one of my faviorite moments, all the love and hate stuff is super intresting! “Will you keep me alive? For now…for as long as you can. Just, don’t let me die yet. Please?” Her voice wavers on the last of it.

There’s a pause of silence for a moment there as Wit considers her request. Marcy almost loses hope in that time.

“Of course.” But then she’s agreeing. “I will always, always keep you alive as long as it is possible. You have my word, Marcy.”

“Thank you…” she utters. “…Witney…”” this is probably one of if not my faviorite moment, idk why but like,, it’s really good, also, WITNEY, WITNEY, WITNEY, YAY. Yunan NOOO, why why why, my other girl 😭 Heart and Andrias!! This is so interesting to me! It was such a joy writing the Marcy and Aldo interaction there. In case it wasn’t already obvious, I’m OBSESSED with the Toad Lords and will not stop talking about them ever ever! You’ll be happy to learn they have a very big role in CMTO <3

And Wally my beloved, he will always have a place in my heart and my fics let’s hope those guards didn’t catch him :)

The riddles were FUN. They hint at a much deeper story than what’s on the surface and I’ll be very interested to see if anyone suddenly remembers them when they’re reading the gem backstories. Strength’s specifically is such a slap in the face I almost feel bad.

Andrias is an absolute lunatic, but a lunatic with a sense of humor. It’s what makes him so fun for me to write, and especially when you consider where his character flaws intertwine with Heart’s. I love his dynamic with every character that’s interacted with him thus far but i am SO stoked to explore his dynamic with Heart further, it is SO messed up. There’s like. Tiny hints. Going on there. “You don’t raise your hand against Andrias Leviathan, that’s simply not how this works.” is a fav ;)

I LOVE YUNLIVIA NEWT MOMS SO MUCH AND GOD I WAS SO EXCITED AND YET SO UPSET THAT OLIVIA AND MARCY’S REUNION HAD TO BE SO ANGSTY. I like to think both of them secretly really cared for the other even if it seemed on the surface like Olivia was all stoic and serious while Marcy was way attached to Andrias instead, but in that vital moment they feared they might lose each other is when the love really awakened. From here on out, their relationship is gonna be a lot closer than what it was at the beginning of PMIT, so yeah, look forward to that :)

The Collar. Oh the collar. Can you believe that was the FIRST scene I wrote in the entire finale. I sat and thought about it for a minute first, like ‘so if this is what the past looks like, and if Andrias knows as much as he does about the gems, how would he react upon finding Marcy’s gem has awakened?’ Well, he’d pick the cycle right back up where he left off…even if it means destroying someone he’s come to care about. Destroying the ones you love, sound familiar???

Oh god WIT AND MARCY. Wit makes me so emo at the best of times. And her interactions with Marcy are such a mixed bag i thought it only fitting that they come to an understanding on Mixed Emotions. This is where I’m finally gonna bring up that Intelligence is a blanket term and that there are SEVERAL different types of intelligence—one of those being Emotional Intelligence. You can kind of guess where Wit’s been learning and where she’s still behind. It. Has Very Sad implications. Honestly I may as well say this here: Strength is the only gem that was able to develop somewhat rich and healthy emotions meanwhile the other two are incredibly stunted. So yknow. Marcy and Wit finally starting to bond and trying this whole Getting Along Thing again is such a big step for both of them. And Marcy calling her Witney has SO much more weight and importance when you consider Wit’s past. Brb gonna go cry

What happened to Yunan was entirely a spur of the moment decision. I was like “what am I supposed to do with Yunan.” And you know I could have picked ANYTHING but That, but I’m an angst writer! Do you expect any less.

The fact that Heart is attached to Anne now is my FAVORITE development for their character. There’s a reason for that. There’s always a reason for that :’)) and boy do i ever love taking dangerous and terrifying villains and turning them into pathetic, sniveling children. Heart, there is still so much you can’t even begin to comprehend. What a loser lmao (affectionate)

Strength and Heart. You are absolutely correct, their dynamic is aggressively toxic, even more so than Wit and Strength. But oh boy you are not ready to learn Wit and Heart’s dynamic, because we’re STILL not there yet. Those little hints I’ve been dropping for you are your scraps eat up <3

I’m SO SORRY you were spoiled by the art, I was worried something like that was gonna happen, and OMG, yeah no I don’t think I ever properly addressed the schedule. Yeah I was posting chapters every other Thursday at 7 pm CST, but you are always SO QUICK to jump on them I thought you already knew omg! My apologies, I will be clear about the schedule if I end up changing it for CMTO (probably not tho I like what I have going on)

Why did I stab Anne? Uh…a few reasons. Some I cannot tell you and some I can. One, Kasey put the idea in my head and I couldn’t stop thinking about it and Two, I wanted to do a cliffhanger by this point anyway so I said WHY NOT?! Three, to prove to Andrias that Heart is not the same gem they used to be, and thus make his downfall all the more tragic when he realized Heart wasn’t coming to save him this time. Yeah that’s gonna have consequences in CMTO. As for the ones I can’t tell you? They have a LOT to do with Sasha, Strength, Marcy, and Heart’s character arcs going into CMTO. Fear me >:)

Anyway SO HAPPY that I got to give Sasha/Strength the honors of fucking shattering Andrias’s spine hahahA it was so satisfying, my goal has always been to make Andrias suffer unimaginable pain and heartbreak for all the shit he’s done not only to our girls but to their gems as well. Cry about it, giant blue asshole. Can’t wait to get into why it was important for Strength’s arc too!!!

Okay I was gonna do another SG:WoT post anyway because we’ve got a new King interview but THEN, he released the cover to issue four so you KNOW I gotta geek out about this.

(Sorry that this blog is all SG:WoT, all the time now, but I am just. Insanely excited that Evely is drawing Supergirl. Feel free to block/mute these posts as needed. XD)

Okay, so!

First! The interview!

It’s on (ugh) screenrant so I’m not gonna link, I’m just gonna nab the interesting bits:

On the different direction of the book, and if he wanted to go back to the original Adventure Comics vibes: “So, the idea of this thing was to strip her story down, because Supergirl has a majorly weird history in terms of continuity. At least 13 writers have rewritten her origin over the years. Her dad has 13 origin stories; sometimes he's evil, sometimes he's a robot, sometimes alive, sometimes he's dead. She's changed dramatically in the last 10 years, between coming back to life to the New 52 to Rebirth. She's gone through so much that it's hard to get a hold of her. Not to mention in the '90s, when I was coming up, she was like an ectoplasmic space angel. There's so much there, and I just wanted to take all that stuff off and get to the core of the character; get her out of her normal environments and her normal conflicts. It seems like all our stories are about her dad or her relationship to Superman. Instead, let's see the purity of that character.”

On starting the book the way he did: “...I wanted to start out with a very human moment of a person turning 21 and getting drunk. And a person who is getting drunk because they want to be alone, and they just want to forget about the shit that's happened in their past. That's such a human moment. And the fact that she's Supergirl, so she waits till it's legal - because these super people, they follow the rules. She waited, and now it's legal and she can have this moment. She goes off by herself, with her dog that always follows her, and she has a moment where she can be free. For a lot of people in the US, whether you've been drinking since you were 14 or started that day, your 21st birthday and the day after are days you remember for the rest of your life. It's a day of freedom and consequence, and I wanted to show Supergirl going through that.”

On rising to the challenge of helping Supergirl perform better, sales/popularity-wise: “ When I first got on this book, I called Steve Orlando, who had just written a Supergirl run. And he was the one who opened my eyes to how good the character is. He had such insight into her. He was like, ‘There is a difference between Clark and her, and what she's gone through.’ He just laid it for me.”

On starting the book off with Ruthye’s journey, and gradually building to Kara’s: “ I was like, "Okay, this is going to be from the point of view of someone under Supergirl." And so I switched the point of view to this new brand new character, whose name is Ruthye. And we went from there: we start with Ruthye's story, we see her discover Supergirl, and she's our audience. She's our way in, the way Robin has always been the way into Batman.”

On whether or not other characters will show up, outside of Supergirl and Ruthye: “It's like my Superman: Up in the Sky, where it's a distillation of the character. You'll see other characters, but the focus of every issue will be on Supergirl. And it's something where at the very end, you can be like, "Why is Supergirl great? Why is she important to the DC Universe? What is her future in the DC Universe? Here, read this one trade that can answer all three of those questions at once."So, there will be other characters in the Super universe. But the focus will always be on her; on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. It's her finding out about herself and her own strength.”

On Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow vs. his other titles: “Supergirl is my first 2021 book, or my first book of the 20s. That wrapped up my books of the teens, and now we're in a new generation. God willing, from the moment I started this book, I was like, ‘I'm gonna take a risk, and I'm gonna write books that are a little brighter.’ I know that's coming from me, and it's not to say we're going to avoid conflict or we're not going to explore the depths of the human soul. All that stuff will be in there. But these books are made from a place of joy, not from a place of anger; from a place of hope, not from a place of despair. It very much contrasts to those other books, in my mind.”

On how he thinks folks will react to the Krypto cliffhanger: “I mean, they're gonna think it's a good cliffhanger. That's how I think they're going to react. They're going to say, ‘I want the next issue.’ That's literally my job as written in my contract. Something where at the end of an issue, someone says, ‘I want more.’ So, that's how I hope they react.”

And now, as always, SOME THOUGHTS:

I love that he brings up the fact that so many Supergirl stories focus on Zor-El and Clark, and how he was like, ‘let’s not do that.’

That’s my big gripe with modern Supergirl comics; they are trying so hard to make a statement on why we need both a Supergirl AND a Superman, that they end up spending ALL THEIR TIME talking about Clark, instead of, you know. Telling a fun Supergirl story.

Same thing with Zor-El! I know folks love Rebirth--I like it quite a bit myself--but I think the nostalgia goggles prevent folks from remembering that the whole first arc of that book was re-doing the ‘Cyborg Superman’ garbage from the Nu52. 

Speaking of Rebirth, really like that of all the recent SG writers he coulda talked to, he talked to Steve Orlando.

Like, if ya can’t get Gates on the phone, get Orlando.

(I get the sense that Gates doesn’t like this book, actually, based on a vague tweet. But don’t quote me on that.) 

Looks like Ruthye is gonna be our POV/audience insert character for the whole run. I’m...mmmm. I don’t love it, but I understand the logic here. Especially since he compared it to Batman and Robin--how you use Robin as your entry point for a bat book. 

And you know what? Kara’s supporting cast needs some help, so. Welcome to the Superfam, Ruthye.

I also love the explanation behind the drinking thing, as well as the fact that Kara waited until it was 100% legal for her to drink because OF COURSE SHE WOULD.

I am so worried that Krypto is gonna die b/c of what we saw in Future State. I’m over here with my Pepe Silva board like, ‘Well, what if Kara agrees to help Ruthye because Krem MURDERED HER DOG?!?! WHAT IF THIS IS JOHN WICK IN SPACE?!?!?!’

So I am DISMAYED that King does not reassure us AT ALL.

Thus I am forced to cling to this tidbit here: “ But these books are made from a place of joy, not from a place of anger; from a place of hope, not from a place of despair. It very much contrasts to those other books, in my mind.”

Killing the dog would not be joyful. XD So, like. I’m REALLY HOPIN’ HE’LL BE OKAY.

AND LASTLY, (Except not really)

I have some additional, miscellaneous thoughts unrelated to the interview b/c I’m me and I’m loving having a Supergirl comic back on the shelves, however polarizing it may be.

Something I realized, when details started to come out regarding the book, and that other folks have now noted as well: Kara was 16 when Rebirth launched in 2016; she’s just turned 21 in 2021, making her one of the extremely few comic characters to age in real time.

I don’t think that was planned, but it is cool.

It occurred to me on a re-read that Ruthye never calls Kara Kara in her narration, only Supergirl. And I was a little sad! But then I remembered that Kara wouldn’t necessarily reveal her identity to people she’s helping, she would just be ‘Supergirl’ to them. 

I really do love how, so far, there has been NARY A MENTION of Kara angst-ing over being in Clark’s shadow, or being Superman’s cousin.

It appears that her drinking alone on a remote planet is more related to trying to forget her trauma/grief related to Krypton. MAYBE. We don’t know yet.

The Clark thing could still come up. I hope it doesn’t. 

(Interesting to note! Kara recently appeared in Action Comics, helping Clark and Jon investigate some Kryptonian refugees; IDK how closely these books will necessarily ‘work together’ in terms of continuity, but! It’s possible that the discovery of those mysterious refugees was triggering, thus sending her on her way to her own solo title.)

(Well. That’s gonna be my headcanon, anyway. XD)

AND LASTLY, (for real this time)

ISSUE FOUR COVER!!!!

Okay, some immediate thoughts:

GOOD LORD IT’S STUNNING.

I loooooove the fire motif, reminds me of a part from the Rebirth run, where Kara met the Super-Man of China, and they visually referenced All-Star Superman, having the Kryptonians kind of...become the sun.

Also STAR CHART?!?! PIRATE MAP!?!?!?! 

The VIBES I tell you, the VIIIIIIIBES.

Also I love that it’s just Kara.

Don’t get me wrong! I like Ruthye just fine so far! But yeah, yeah, give me some more solo-Kara focus, even if it’s just in the art.

Just realized that once this thing gets collected as a TBP, we might get some Evely art backmatter. OhHhhHHhhH YESSSS. 

Anyways, the long wait for issue 2 begins!
