i haven't posted much about it (i have a post here and here, as well as a snippet here, and i swear i mentioned in more detail somewhere about the friendship mechanics and mr benedict having Max Friendship(TM) with all his pokemon, and like one of the ones with the moves that requires a close bond with your pokemon or whatever being really strong? but i couldn't find that post) but like

i just have a lot of vague thoughts about an mbs pokemon au. like i don't think so much about them having specific individual types of pokemon bc there's so many choices it gives me anxiety but like. just generally them in the pokemon world.........oh........

it meshes so well, a world built on kindness and friendship.........curtain being like one of them Badguy Teams(TM) who mistreats his pokemon and thinks it's about stat buffs and items and really high attack power versus benedict who actually cares about them, maybe has like. a service pokemon that helps with his narcolepsy/helps catch him (oh my god someone definitely got him a snorlax or a drowzee as a joke but jokes on them he bonds with literally any pokemon put near him)

and like. thoughts on mr benedict being a retired(?) pokemon professor, perhaps now working at something like one of the daycares or not a pokemon center but kind of a rural, out of the way version of that, something that involves helping/taking care of pokemon, but he's still got a huge library and cares deeply about research--maybe even similarly to canon curtain's Badguy Team is doing some 'emergency' shit and once again no one believes this kooky professor so he ends up getting all but forced into retirement,,,

ohhhhh also thinking about like. he isn't alone, even when he is, because he has pokemon..... and the kids, too, having their own pokemon, perhaps really recently (would mr benedict, like in the games how a professor often gives you your starter, give them theirs? choices? i think maybe three pokemon like in the game that are like, fire/water/grass, that kate, reynie, and sticky choose--kate doesn't realize she chooses one similar to one milligan had, when she was young, oh god i bet curtain has captured pokemon oh g--and constance either has her own (psychic type just because that's funny) or claims she doesn't need one but has secretly had one the whole time (psychic, but on the other hand, very funny if it's like a little togepi or a magikarp).

god do you think the twins had like. matching pokemon a long time ago? like a minun and a plusle (they switch who you'd think would have which, so mr benedict has the minun and curtain the plusle--insert joke about Happiness/Positivity here) or latios and latias? and like. parallels of how each of them treat this pokemon now??

Hello everyone, Smite here!

2023 is coming to a close and it's been quite the year, a mixture of "this is a bridge year for greater things to come" and "WE LIVIN' NOW MF!" What is a bit different this year is that the highs weren't as high and the lows weren't as low compared to previous years---maybe that is just me getting older, maybe it's hindsight. Either way, I'm good and this year was good.

But some things are more than just good. I'm of course talking about these writers and their stories that I have featured today. All of them deserve special mention, but I want to focus on two of them specifically.

In a year of great, fantastic and already legendary fics, these two stand out.

I- I- I just read the damn tags and new I one day had to give this a shot. ff4sooya has crazy ideas, futa galore, different dynamics and kinks, which is SO MY THING. This has Mommy and Daddy involved in an absurd (and absurdly hot) threesome that I couldn't take my eyes off.

Now I definitely need to read more and you should too because I bet there are a bunch of Masterpieces in that long Masterlist!

Seriously, what this genius is able to cook up in a commission or in the currently ongoing (HYPE) IZ DAYS OF CHRISTMAS is absolutely incredible. We have long stories with in depth characters and love drama that ends not only smuttily but sweetly. Who the fuck needs books, when you can just binge IZ?

With "Drunken", they have once again hit it out of the FUCKIING park. There is never enough Daddy kink fics, yes, but mine seem like nonsensical cringe porn compared to this beauty of a piece. I love how it plays with my heart, no I'm not crying---okay, now that is hot.

1.000 Notes, and it's still not enough for what is my pick for fic of the year (FOTY? FOOTY? There is a scene like that, yep). IZ*ONE truly never dies, but it is IVE and these absolute super stars, bomb shells with flawless faces and different, yet irresistible bodies that have us in a frenzy.

Talking about frenzy, all those 30,699 words are a frenzy. I thought Peach would set it up with a long and painful tease that has us edging the entire time BUT NOPE this has so much fucking smut, so many lines of neediness and horniness, it is impossible to finish in one try or two tries or... I dunno, seven-hundred tries?

It's detailed, it's straight forward, it's sex from every fucking angle, I can never get tired of this. I will go so far and say this is Peach's magnum opus, the GOAT fic by the GOAT writer. At least for that day, I can say this without a doubt.

Thread of odd connections between Ikora, Elsie and Eris

I was scrolling through concept art when I noticed that, despite not being so in-game, The Stranger's rifle is Branded as a Cassoid weapon. This wouldn't mean much, bungie tends to use decals at random, except-

The curse of osiris variant, The Machina Dei 4, is also branded with a slightly altered version of the Cassoid logo, which I think proves that it has been upgraded with components from the foundry.

But let's put a pin on that and talk about another Cassoid weapon, The Invective shotgun, Ikora's signature weapon. The Invective has an ornament called Iconoclast, a word which here means "Destroyer of images used in religious worship." This nomenclature is very similar to-

The Vex Mythoclast, a weapon which, thanks to its sister weapon, The Worldline Zero (which coincidentally also has a prophecy variant), we know to be made by Elsie Bray. Canonically, we earn the Mythoclast as part of-

the "Not forged in light" quest, which ends with Elsie gifting us the No time to explain. A weapon which eventually ends back up in her hands and she gifts to us again earlier in the timeline as-

The stranger's rifle, which hangs around until it becomes the Machina Dei 4 (later Adhortative). And the prophecy attached to the Machina Dei 4 desribes Eris Morn and the events of Shadowkeep, when Eris discovers stasis and starts using the darkness.

Now, it's generally accepted that No time to explain (and all it's variants by proxy) was created at some future point in a distant timeline, this is incorrect. Ghost specifically points out that "parts" of it shouldn't exist, because the rifle itself is a common suros frame.

Going back to The Invective, you're probably more familiar with its legendary sister, The Comedian, and its D2 counterpart, Deadpan Delivery. The Comedian's flavor text reads "A. A ha. A ha ha ha. A ha ha ha ha ha ha ha" In D1 the joke wasn't really clear, but with the addition of a lore tab in D2, the joke has become the vanguard's falling victim to a hive god's deceit. Now, let's take a little trip to The dark future.

In The dark future, Beyond light never happened, Eramis was allowed to grow her armies and master stasis, which led to a massive attack on the city by Cabal remnants, Savathûn, and the glorious House Salvation, all masterminded by Eris Morn, who up to that point was believed to be an ally, but had been corrupted by stasis and the darkness.

Coming back to our timeline, let's look at differences between our case exotics and their variants. Elsie's rifle has undergone many more modifications than Invective. Matter of fact, Invective has barely undergone any changes from its default. It's painted red, AND It has tape wrapped the handle and the grip, just like No time to explain. (I know I'm talking about grip tape right now but please don't go, it gets better, I promise)

It's a weak link, many weapons have grip tape, but I think many of these small details add up and point to The Iconoclast being one of Elsie's gifts. Let's review the similarities between Iconoclast and other gifts from Elsie.

>It's sourced from one of the city foundries and later received Cassoid upgrades (Invective and it's variants are nadir products)

>It has grip tape where the original does not.

>Mythoclast and Iconoclast are very similar terms and could point to a connection.

>It has a perpetual ammo function, like No time to explain and The Mythoclast.

But we should also look at Iconoclast within it's own context. Invective being her weapon, what does it mean for Ikora? She's never been been known to combat or really oppose any sort of religion, at least that I can find. And let's make it clear, the gun is not the Iconoclast. Just like the Mythoclast is not The Mythoclast. The weapons, in this case, are named for the wielder. You kill Atheon and so you become the Mythoclast, the gun is more of symbol. So, what religious figure is Ikora supposed to kill in order to become the Iconoclast?

Well, just this season, the hive have come out with a brand spanking new god, one very close to Ikora. Now I don't think Ikora is going to kill Eris. Eris would need to do something completely heinous for her to even consider that. Like, idk, bombarding the last city with House Salvation and the shadow legion... i. e., what happens in the dark timeline.

Look, I really don't believe Eris is going to turn evil all the sudden, that would be character assasination of the highest magnitude. But from Ikora's point of view? She has a supposed time traveller yelling at her that she's letting everything go sideways.

So my theory is that Elsie took Ikora's Invective from some other failed timeline (possibly the one where they smooch) and gave it to Ikora as the Iconoclast, along with the idea that alternate Ikora ruined everything because she failed to act and put Eris down when she could.

And this is where Deadpan Delivery comes in. You see, Ikora doesn't use invective anymore, and she doesn't use the Comedian. She exclusively wields Deadpan Delivery. Now, I know this was probably just the animators being faithful to her character, seeing how she prefers shotguns-

But the retroactive additions to the Comedian's lore, outside my crazed theories, implies a statement from Ikora. The Comedian's joke is the vanguard falling victim to a hive god's deceit, and in the dark timeline that god, the Savathûn figure, is Eris morn. And so-

By maining Deadpan delivery Ikora is subtextually saying "It's not funny. I'm not laughing. I don't subscribe to the narrative put forward by the comedian or Elsie. I trust Eris". And by rejecting the Comedian she's additionally disavowing it's older sister, The Invective, which is a symbol of the gung ho attitude which defined her in her youth. And wether my Iconoclast theory is correct or not, we can definitively say: Ikora is against what it represents , she is a guardian, and she will make a new fate no matter what.

You were out with Michael in the woods while telling him all the information you know about the neighbors and who would cause him the most and least trouble when your bully saw you and confronted you.

"Y/n, who the hell is this guy? He looks like he hasn't showered in months, you hang out with homeless people now?" Your bully bursted out in laughter and this also seemed to annoy Michael and he looked around 13-16 so he wouldn't have a problem killing him, and then you spoke.

Now, he was used to kids having foul mouth but he wouldn't have expected you to have it, you looked very innocent to say the least.

Would secretly encourage it, especially to your bullies. they wouldn't have lasted long anyways.

But would growl at you if it's directed towards him, either a "tf did I do wrong" Or a "don't talk to me like that young child" Kind of growl.

Over all wouldn't mind much but make sure not to use it much. (it reminds him if those annoying kids who would do extreme pranks on Halloween.)

Ghost faces (Billy and stu)

You were in a grocery store with billy and stu when you bumped into a bully of yours.

"Who the hell are they? Your mom's boyfriends?" Your bully started obnoxiously laughing while Billy and Stu were thinking of how bad they wanted to scare the kid into never messing with you again. And then you finally spoke.

Also highkey lowkey surprised when they first heard you curse, in their eyes you were a dumb little angel child who couldn't do anything wrong. Well, can angels curse?

Also very supportive towards ur bully but make sure not to also use it that much. (It scares them lowkey.)

Would definitely be the type to make you go up to random strangers on Halloween dressed up as an angel and act so nice and innocent and ask them horror quizzes and then catch them off gaurd by suddenly throwing profanities at them if they get something wrong.

(They killed them afterwards because why not.)

NBC hannibal

He was aware that you would know some swear words but didn't think you would know so many foul ones.

Some snobby kids started calling you crazy and stuff and saying it's ironic how your dad is a psychiatrist and that you're probably adopted.

Hannibal was about to speak but you beat him to it by cursing them out.

Would just stand there while you curse your bully out like: 🧍🏻‍♀️

If you say some in front of him prepare for a "Y/N!" And a lecture.

If it's especially directed towards him expect a 40 minute lecture.

Another "don't use it too much around them" Especially when he has patients around.

Jason

It was one of those rare days where Jason let's u out (he was really paranoid you would get caught in a bear trap even when he was holding your hand like you were going to fall down a clift)

And also those ultra rare legendary epic alpha extraordinary days where Jason doesn't have his mask on. (Be considered extremely lucky)

And random teenagers decided to come at the right/wrong time.

Somehow Jason didn't hear them because he was too focused on you.

And when the dumbass drunk teenagers saw him they automatically started making fun of him, which really startled and hurt Jason.

You didn't even waste a second before starting to curse them like crazy and also making fun of them.

hearing kids insulting you hurt 10x more than other adults or teenagers do, they fell quiet and ran away. (He killed them afterwards)

Really surprised Jason. Boy just stood there listening to every word you said

Mama Voorhees started scolding you too.

Jason would encourage you not to use it much since he doesn't want you to behave like those other "naughty" Children he occasionally saw.

Freddy Krueger

Your parents were out and Freddy was in your living room with you.

And you begged him to go out to trick or treat with you and he agreed eventually.

You had to occasionally stop Freddy from killing random annoying kids on the spot.

Your bucket was already full! Because of him scaring the treaters to give you more behind your back.

And your bully and her friends happened to spot you and your dad. (unknown to her.)

"Aw look, it's two freaks hanging out on Halloween." Angela said to you and Freddy.

"Is that really realistic makeup or are you actually burnt." Riley asked to Freddy.

"Sorry no offense but, aren't you a little too old to be trick or treating?"

The question was asked to Freddy again. All three of them started crackling like evil witches.

And Freddy was sure he was going to traumatize them in their dreams.

And then you as ofc the girlboss queen stood up to yourself and your crispy dad.

He's the "yass queen, go get them" Kind of dad.

(He did really traumatize them later though)

Carrie

I love her so much

Now, you and carrie were outside her school talking about what activities you should do later since her mother was being less strict these days.

When those obnoxious bullies of her spotted you two.

"Carrie are you seriously hanging out with children since no one else will now?" They started humiliating her while laughing.

She was so close to tears but you decided to stand up.

She's a surprised Pikachu face while thinking "oh Lord! My baby is swearing!"

Would kinda scold you to not talk like that again.

Hint word: kinda.

She would be too sweet and also grateful to fully yell at you, she probably said something like "please don't talk like that! what if mom heard you? She would never let me see you again. :("

Panics when you talk profanities but overall it's sweet.

sol at the crick is like. it's very new in my mind so i don't have That many details ironed out, but. okay so the setup of it is that swag, when he flees mothership, steals an egg. runs with it. knows he can't take care of a kid, especially with mothership after him, so he flees into the living wood and finds his way to the crick. entrusts sol to them (probably bumpy and jolene specifically, is my thought) the thing that's interesting abt it. to me. is that sol, as we know him, grew up really yearning for like, family and bonds. which is a huge part of crick culture. and not necessarily something he'd be lacking in this, but... also i don't think it's that easy. i think he'd still really want connection. and like. okay. i think bumpy and jolene would tell him abt swag. when he's old enough they tell him more details, that he's a clone and a little about mothership. for sol's safety more than anything. but i think that inserts this thought into his head that he's always kind of felt-- he's different from everyone else at the crick. makes him want to find out more. so he leaves to go to ezry. what if you were surrounded by the thing you wanted more than anything but it still never fit Exactly right. y'know. (also i think sol'd either just start a long death monk, be an ascendant dragon monk from training with big bev, or be a mercy monk who picked up healing from hanging out with so many druids.) (also x2 though i haven't thought that much of it bc i came up with this like an hour ago, this would be fun with changing up some elements of callie and calder's backstories too. i'm not sure exactly what yet tho)

any other..... sweats......... i have so many. i really like roleswaps in general, and i've been thinking of a handful where i swap up the timelines/roles of the different parties of adventurers. like. if you have melora/telaine/aryox, ulfgar/thiala/alanis, jolene/marabelle/cobb, the boobs, duck team etc... shuffling them around. like. okay you have the like, ancient trio where one of them becomes a god, right? what if that trio was actually jolene/marabelle/cobb instead, and jolene becomes a god. what if it's the boobs (insanely i think. i'd make hardwon the god. in this). or melora/telaine/aryox as the legendary heroes. or like, i'm really normal abt the calder helm deal and i have thought a lot about alternate timelines where callie or sol is forced to do something similar. sol with alexandrite. callie with oberon. after the recent eps i started thinking abt an au where callie is a diviner. earlier today i was yelling about pendergreens-ing gideon. but. i've also in general got a lot of eldermourne thoughts. i did at one point start to write smthn where fia, when she and irina were kids, pledged herself to irina as a paladin. it was like. fia as the only paladin of a demigod, neither of them knowing the weight of it. a connection like that matters, though, and the reason i started writing it was the idea that fia, when she was alone, would talk "to" irina. and irina heard her, like they were prayers.

oh i also for a while was thinking abt. aus where the boobs were the ones who were forced to time-loop instead of alanis. and the different ways it broke each of them. that was fun.

twin dragons au -- ingo is Zekrom and emmet is Reshiram. the way it works in this is that they can be Either human Or dragon but not physically both at the same time. zero dragon traits in human form, etc.

which is why it's Really Freaking Weird And Alarming when emmet finds himself half-reshiram'd one day. (especially once he later realizes ingo is missing--)

anyway. ingo gets eeby deebied and something about the trip to hisui smushes his human and pokemon form together. and since he and emmet/reshiram are so closely connected it kinda. pushed back to him as well.

various side notes under the cut;

- ingo arrives in hisui with no memories, but does have a somewhat easier time regaining them, especially once akari shows up and helps him

- dad ingo. adopts akari. we love to see it

- he also isn't technically a warden but the pearl clan lets him do what he wants. they treat him like a person, for the most part, but not really like a Human, if that makes sense. he's treated normally but there's always a strange tone to most of his interactions with the residents of hisui.

- pearl clan also decided he must be a gift from sinnoh. adaman saw this, decided ingo is a gift from HIS sinnoh and actually belongs with his own clan. ingo ignores this and hangs out in the highlands the majority of the time. but does spend a lot more time with the pearl clan because they're the ones that found him and took him in

- meanwhile. emmet stays out of public eye for a hot minute. and by that i mean a month or so. which isn't that surprising considering his brother disappeared. people figure he's just trying to cope.

- but. he's driving himself insane he can't stay away from the subway that long he has GOT to get back. or he will die. (he says this, dramatically, to elesa). and there's no leads on getting him back to normal.

- (technically, he could take a trip to sinnoh and call up arceus. but with ingo missing he feels that leaving the region would be a bad idea and totally irresponsible.)

- so he just. Shows Up At Work One Day. all half-reshiram'd. as if there is nothing wrong. depot agents, after a moment of baffled staring, have to just roll with it.

- the Public, however. dhkshsksbsksjd

- all he can say is that he has No Idea why he is Like This (true) and it happened when ingo disappeared (true). "But why do you look so much like Reshiram?" "you expect me to know the answer to that?? i'm a train conductor." (blatantly skirting around the truth without directly lying).

- eventually unova accepts that. yeah okay their subway boss is fluffy now. weirder things have happened tbh.

- surprisingly enough, the whole thing stays pretty well contained within unova, ESPECIALLY nimbasa. emmet is THEIR subway boss and he's Going Through It. he deserves to be treated well. etc.

- ANYEEWAYE. cut back to hisui. ingo adopts akari etc etc etc. she starts helping him regain his memory. and the more things he remembers, the easier it IS to remember.

- once akari finishes the pokedex, he remembers a significant amount of his human life. not quite enough to be Normal, but a fair amount. (he also remembers some stuff from being a legendary dragon, but a legendary dragon is a LOT more long-lived than a human. there's a Lot there to remember. and is a lot more... nebulous of a mind than a human's.)

- akari takes him with her when she goes to fight arceus. ingo has a little chat <3. arceus puts ingo and emmet back how they were before, because they cannot exist in the long-term with their forms smushed together like that.

- (Emmet wakes up one day human again, doom-brains himself into thinking ingo died despite how that would be impossible (considering zekrom is literal deity, the embodiment of the concept of ideals.). spends like two hours like that before elesa and drayden and iris have to knock some sense into him.)

- arceus. like. because Ingo asked nicely, arceus retcons (not Really retcons because it knew ingo would ask this when it did it. time is weird) kyurem into having a human form. caveats of this includes. kyurem doesn't Know or Remember that they're kyurem. they can't shift into kyurem. etc. because kyurem shouldn't be able to have a human form in the first place because of their. them-ness. their existence. makes it impossible. but arceus makes it possible because ~hadwavey seals their power away and uses its own to keep the human form intact idk~ Arceus-ness.

- ingo and akari spend the next few weeks tying things up and saying goodbyes before they go home. (ingo goes around saying his goodbyes and expressing his gratitude to people. COMPLETELY forgetting to mention the very important fact that he was that one dragon guy. he goes around to the same people a second time, significantly more mortified, and explains.) (akari was there most of the time and let it happen. it was hilarious.)

- ANYWAY eventually ingo and akari go home. happy reunions time!!!

- (and then, of course. we get into what is almost like the postgame plot equivalent of the au dkshksdhksjsjd. Who Is Kyurem?)

Baldur's Gate Community School is a rundown secondary school and all of the party are down on their luck teachers. Tav is the vice principal

The school's board of management consists of: Ketheric Thorm, Orin the Red, Enver Gortash, and the Absolute (head of the board). Yes the Absolute is still [SPOILERS]. it's completely unchanged. except for being the head of the board of management

Gale is an ineffictive English teacher who is now living in an apartment after his toxic ex-wife kicked him and the cat out. used to work in the very high end, private Waterdeep Academy but Mystra got him fired. was spotted scrolling grindr during a study class

Astarion hasn't been seen turning up to teach his scheduled history classes since the early 2000s. they don't have the resources to stop him. Mol (a student) is blackmailing him and every Tuesday we meets her behind the bicycle shed and hands her a tenner. nobody knows what she's blackmailing him for but he gets VERY annoyed if you ask about it

Wyll and Karlach teach drama and PE respectively and play squash together every weekend. unclear if they're romantically involved or not. they might be married. someone asked Wyll once and he said 'we're family, but not legally' which answered nothing

I think it would be funny if Lae'zel taught geography. somehow

Shadowheart is the secretary. you couldn't put her in a room with 20 children and expect her to kill none of them I don't think

All of the tieflling kids are students at the school. but so is every goblin in the game. Dror Raglin and Priestess Gut are going to college next year

mol, despite expectations, is president of the student council, which is a deeply corrupt organisation

jaheira and halsin are both members of the PTA. they are performing insane acts of political intrigue at the monthly meeting & coffee social. they have an agreed code word with minsc that means 'enough is enough. lets kill everyone here'

so's kagha. she teaches maths. arabella (a student) cheated on her midterm exams and kagha attempted to kill her with a snake

The school was once a fine institution, established by the legendary Balduran himself. Shadowheart has to guard the Artefact as part of her secreterial duties. legendary shards. What is your Ghost like? What character traits do they have? Cola has a bit of a strong personality, as in "if I don't wanna do it, then I won't" which has simultaneously always existed in and trickled down into Calamity. Not that there's never been a time when they've had to essentially suck it up and do it anyway, considering what their guardian career entails with Calamity, after all. They will speak up to voice their say on a matter when it's necessary or affects them. I will say I do think they were a bit too dependent on locating Calamity and subsequently kicking off their joint guardian career early on, because they really wanted to find their guardian like everyone else around them was and also were eager to prove themselves (as guardian and ghost) like they had been imagining for a long time. Another trait they share with Calamity is they can be a bit arrogant, especially when Calamity ends up involved in some of the canon "Young Wolf role" instances. This also includes a "nah that won't happen to me/us" attitude from time to time, even if on a deeper level they're definitely more concerned than they let on. A prominent example of this is while the pair work with the Spider, hypothetically a fellow ghost or anyone else could question about Cola's comfort around the dead ghost shells that their "boss" keeps, and Cola will simply (figuratively) shrug and reply that they're dead and don't need them anymore, or alternatively: "better them than me". However, it's also worth noting that Cola never physically manifests in the Spider's presence for a long time, showcasing how they try to keep up an appearance and not seem as concerned as they may actually be. Overall, Cola sounds like a mini-Calamity as far as general overall personality goes, though they definitely do have their own differences naturally. However, Calamity doesn't do anything that Cola isn't at least partially on board with either for the most part. Cola is also very proud of their guardian's accomplishments, which in turn makes them their own accomplishments as well since Calamity's very survival depends on Cola, and the ghost knows it. The long-lasting working relationship with the Spider was/is a bit more muddled, and quite frankly the pair's involvement with Spider is a separate MASSIVE can of worms I won't delve into here obviously, but it's also worth noting that Cola is every bit of willing to continue said working relationship as Calamity is regardless of any fleeting wariness.

glimmer. Is your Ghost a loner or has a friend group? Do they hang out with other Ghosts or Guardians? Before finding Calamity, Cola had a small circle of acquaintances - mostly fellow ghosts also searching for their guardians. They would keep in contact, catch up at the Tower if any or all of them happened to be around in between their searches, and I'd say there's a good chance Cola has met at least one of the more prominent guardians at the Tower (Vanguard, the in-game vendors, etc.) even if it was just a group setting. However, Cola typically focused on their search. Even moreso as one by one, more of their acquainted ghosts returned with a guardian of their own. Cola was always genuinely happy for them of course, but would still experience a small pang of envy and unknowingly resort to isolating from them for a bit as they would turn their attention to searching to try and push that envy/feeling of being left behind away. Their envy would often leave them in that mindset of "I think I deserved to find mine before them and it's unfair" though it's not a thought they'd ever voice out loud, even if in their most frustrated and dejected moments, they really wanted to. Currently, Cola has adjusted better once they found Calamity. A few of the same ghosts from before still keep in contact with them, with one of them coincidentally being the ghost of my warlock oc. :] Cola has also warmed up to becoming acquainted with the guardians of their ghost friends/acquaintances, in contrast to how they were before when they'd avoid contact because of how jealous they felt. :[ OH, adding this last minute, but so far I'm feeling out a possible friendship they develop with Fynch too. :> Unfortunately it's probably technically AU territory, since I don't think they're canonically involved with the Witch Queen campaign, but also everyone knows that will not stop me from indulging in things off to the side. Cola will naturally be a bit prickly around Fynch at first, understandably so. BUT, I do think an eventual genuine friendship blooming from that as they continue to work together would be so nice for the two of them... :'] As for Cola and Calamity's relationship, they are close! They definitely butt heads from time to time, but overall the two are essentially on the same page for most things.

ascendant shards. How did the Ghost find your Guardian? How long did it take them? Cola rez'd Calamity on Venus! The former managed to convince a duo of guardians to take them along to the planet, and separated from them once they arrived. After searching for a prolonged amount of time, Cola finally stumbled upon their future guardian's corpse within a smaller security outpost. The pair unfortunately had to spend at least a few days navigating away from Eliksni and Vex until they could find a way off-planet. That opportunity presented itself at last when they ran into a different guardian who helped secure them transportation that could get them back to Earth. Cola had been searching for quite awhile, though I'm not sure if that was their first trip to Venus or not. The exact timeline of Cola's search is pretty vague for me at the moment too, but it felt like an eternity for the ghost regardless. Searching Venus was lengthy too, again it naturally feels really long when you're trying so hard to locate a particular corpse and avoid drawing attention from the Eliksni/Vex no matter how long it actually took.

enhancement core. How does the Ghost behave in combat? Do they help the Guardian in any way? This is a good question because I've frankly never thought about it. I'd say Cola typically stays quiet in the heat of combat so Calamity can focus. If the latter is on his own, Cola may call out anything necessary or discuss their plan while in the field. They're not really a "commentary for the sake of commentary" type of ghost. I'll also say that Cola would definitely wield their own little gun and jump right into combat alongside their guardian if they could or if it wasn't extremely imperative they don't get themselves destroyed. Cola'd easily be part of the "#give Ghost a gun" crowd. So you can imagine how elated Cola is when they have the chance to operate weaponry, such as manning the turret in the Machinist mission in Forsaken lmao.

bright dust. Is your Ghost stylish? Do they like different shells or do they stick to one? Do they have a unique or recognizable feature? Cola isn't one to frequently change shells. They're very content sticking with one for a long while. And naturally, they like having a matching color scheme with Calamity's armor. :] Their most noteworthy shells used are in the gifs above: The default white one they practically began life in, The Freyja shell after finding Calamity and they purchase it (which is also a nice little nod to their search's success on Venus because of its description: "For Ghosts who have climbed the Freyja Montes of Venus."), Followed by the servitor shell that is more or less their "work uniform" when essentially running errands for Spider. I still haven't decided if their previous Freyja shell was (voluntarily) traded to Spider or not when they received the servitor one or if they opted to save it, because they'd probably be fine sticking to the latter all the time. It's definitely way less obvious of a "walking Spider goon here" sign than Calamity's tangled web mark which frankly he most likely wouldn't be wearing nearly as frequently as it's seen in my gifs and screencaps of him lmao. Depends, I guess.

silver. Does the Ghost have their own space wherever the Guardian lives? What does it look like? I like to think that Cola does! I'm honestly still unsure of exactly where Calamity hangs around as a personal "home residence". Despite that, I can see Cola having a small nook of their own in the same space that Calamity sleeps/hangs around in. I do also like the idea of Cola still having their original white shell in said space for sentimentality. They'd also prefer to hang around in their space while Calamity rests or is busy. Cola naturally likes Calamity and will hover around them and maybe perch on/near them for awhile, but when it comes to times such as Calamity sleeping, Cola prefers their own space instead of cuddling up with him or something like that. Cola would keep their space simple. Maybe a cloth or small cushion for them to rest on, their first ghost shell as mentioned above, and perhaps a souvenir or two from either their excursions or something they bought around the Tower, etc. HOWEVER, I do think there are particular times when Cola does wanna be closer to Calamity in a setting like that, and will nestle on or around him. It's just not as often as one would generally expect from a close ghost and guardian. This is a bit of an ironic development, considering I've touched on how Cola's search and early days with Calamity had them glued alittle too closely to their guardian in a sense.

exotic cipher. How does the Ghost feel about the Crucible and Gambit? Cola likes it! They'll watch broadcasted matches in their downtime, and Cola wishes Calamity enjoyed it more and wasn't so put off by it because he's a bit of a sore loser lmao, but in the end, it's not that big of a deal that they don't participate as often as Cola wants to. [Cola voice] "We've got more important things to handle anyway because we're important and all. :]"

spoils of conquest. What is the Ghost’s attitude towards the Darkness powers? And the Guardian if they are using it? Cola was a bit more on the fence about it as Calamity was. While Cola is rational and will recognize the advantages of something like that, I think what made them feel more unsure about it was that it was obviously not what is familiar to them - the Light. Canon Ghost's dialogue in Beyond Light voicing his concern on whether he'd even be able to heal/resurrect the Guardian is a main concern of Cola's as well and comes from a practical sense naturally. I would say that the Witness/Darkness speaking to/through them previously has also left Cola a bit shaken at this point and hammers that apprehension in deeper too. However, Cola has faith in Calamity's capability to wield it and thus grows more comfortable with the idea and handling it in action. I'll be honest that Calamity's exact level of involvement in canon Beyond Light events and how much he actually utilizes Stasis (if even at all) is still up in the air for me for the most part, so it's pretty wishy-washy but this is just a general idea of it for now.

enhancement prism. What was the Ghost’s life before finding their Guardian? Oof, I kind of already answered this under "glimmer", at least for Cola's social life. I can see Cola maybe having supplied some miniscule intel to the ghost network as they traveled and happened to observe/discover something useful. I will say though that Cola definitely felt really lonely, despite technically having others around them to talk to if they needed. Self-isolating, in a way. "Seeing guardian/ghost pairs unfortunately ignites that loneliness/envy within me so I try to avoid what is causing me emotional pain/discomfort." :[ But also as I typed that, I wouldn't put it past Cola to cope with that by trying to launch themselves into these risky intel/scouting operations for the network. However, I don't think that'll be the case because it mirrors Calamity alittle too closely. Even if Cola doesn't jump eye-first into perilous situations like that, something more low risk that I can see them volunteering for more often (in the occasional downtime between searches they'd have) would possibly be routine deliveries/etc. around the Tower and Last City? Something to that effect.

upgrade module. What does the Ghost like to do in free time? Do they have hobbies? While Calamity isn't much for baking during the Dawning, Cola actually likes it alot! And Calamity will do it for Cola's sake considering the latter can't exactly do it on their own, but the Dawning in particular became so much more enjoyable for Cola after they found Calamity. Again, even though Cola had support and friends and people to talk to as they searched for their guardian, they really did unknowingly self-isolate alot so celebrations like the Dawning - while still enjoyable and something Cola participated in - would also leave them feeling lonelier than usual. And so far I'm liking the idea of Cola taking an interest in astronomy/space exploration, whereas Calamity is more of a planetary (specifically fauna/biology/etc.) kind of guy. In a way they're like a "deep space" and "deep ocean" type of pair lmao. Cola does enjoy Calamity sharing their enjoyment of music/dance with them too. :]

my three main fandoms are turn: washington's spies/amrev/18th century history, tolkien (silm, lotr, and the hobbit), and pirates of the caribbean, but i've written for a handful of other fandoms too. i've pretty much retired from marvel fic, but i've written a bit of that, and i've also written one (1) bridgerton and one (1) avatar: the last airbender fic lol.

i try to respond to every single comment, including on fics from years ago! i haven't been perfect at it this year since i've been so busy, but know that i read and deeply appreciate every single comment.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

oh gosh, this is a hard question because i'm an angst writer at heart. i do tend to prefer writing angst with a happy ending, but i've definitely written a few fics with purposefully devastating endings lol. i think i'd probably say the crown hangs heavy on either side - a turn AU that explores the idea of john andre and ben tallmadge switching places in the narrative - has the angstiest ending, since it actually has two alternative endings, and they're BOTH sad af lol.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

either the second chapter of sweet nothing (where i attempted to write a happy ending for jpeg) or never seen a love as pure, which is a very silly celegorm/aredhel fic where i imagined them both surviving the first age and ending up becoming tom bombadil and goldberry (i know it's a crazy concept but trust me, it kinda works lol).

8. Do you get hate on fics?

i've never gotten any legitimate hate comments, luckily! the closest thing i've gotten to hate is that i have gotten a handful of comments nitpicking canon/historical accuracy, which used to annoy me (because when i deviate from canon/history, whether in a big or a small way, it's almost always intentional and for the sake of the story rather than me just being a dumbass who didn't realize haha) but now i just ignore them. but i will say, the funniest/most memorable one of these i've ever gotten has to be the time someone commented on my a:tla fic (bury it and rise above) to inform me that "jeggings don't exist in the avatar universe" HAHA.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

i do sometimes write smut, but i almost never publish it because i generally prefer my published work to be PG-13 lol. (i think only maybe 2-3 of my published fics have some hints of fairly tame smut in them?) when i do write smut, it's usually M/F with a focus on reversing/subverting traditional gender roles.

10. Do you write crossovers?

i'm not the biggest fan of crossovers (i find that they're generally a bit unwieldy since merging two universes and two casts of characters into one is A Lot, and they're also pretty hard to do in a realistic and serious way - they tend to read as/verge toward crackfic territory for me) so i've never written one personally.

(and of course the legendary harpson & caroline turn verse, which has yet to see the light of day but is one of my favorite things i've ever written!) @curufiin has also helped me craft some great fic ideas, especially with figuring out simcoe and andre's dynamic in power and control.

either jpeg (john andre/peggy shippen) or celegorm/aredhel for canon ships, but for oc/canon, anne/beckett, aka anntler (iykyk @ chaos clan lol)

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

ugh... the john andre turns au ;-; idk if that thing is ever resurrecting at this point but i wish i could magically complete it lol

16. What are your writing strengths?

characterization!! i really take pride in getting my characterization just right, and i think it's definitely the aspect of my writing that i've gotten the most positive comments about. i also famously write a LOT of character studies (i'm pretty sure it's my most-used tag on ao3 lol).

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

i'm not very good at coming up with creative original plots, which is why i tend to write canon-compliant or slightly canon-divergent stories rather than full-on, innovative AUs (unless i have someone to brainstorm with <3).

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

i'm generally not a fan because i feel like it makes fics less accessible and more clunky to read. however, i also don't personally speak any other languages (except for some really rusty french) so i don't think it's something i'd ever do anyway lol. when i write a character who speaks another language (or tolkien elves, since they all technically speak various forms of elvish lmfao) i prefer to use dialogue tags, like

"'[english sentence],' he said in spanish."

"he said something in spanish that [MC who doesn't speak spanish] couldn't understand."

19. First fandom you wrote for?

in terms of published fic, it was lotr, but in terms of (thankfully) unpublished fic, i believe it was hamilton HAHA

Favorite Final Fantasy Music (FFXIII)

Some people hate XIII (a lot of people hate XIII). I am not one of those people (I'm also a Hope and Snow enjoyer so maybe I'm just wrong). I was never quite good at the gameplay, but I really liked the world, and I really liked the music. It's like... the least Final Fantasy out of all the soundtracks? But also in a way that makes it the most Final Fantasy cause of how different it is. The game uses a lot of these 2 motifs (which is cool cause there's like 2 main worlds), and uses a lot of cool vocals and futuristic noises. My man Masashi Hamauzu is back from FFX, and he kills it.

5. The Archylte Steppe Hey! It's everyone's favorite part of the game! This is my favorite version of the "The Promise" motif; the slower tempo befitting the vast field you're running around in. Other than the fact that I love this melody, I'm a big fan of the heavy drums, and that little part where they hold back to let the melody shine through (which is also the part where the notes do that thing where they pull on my heart aaaaa). Perfect song for accidentally getting stepped on by an adamantoise to.

4. Desperate Struggle By all means, considering the context of this song, I should hate it. The amount of times I got doomed or launched into the air and smacked around, is ridiculous. But this song is so fun (especially in theatrhythm). I love the really heavy part where the rhythm gets real bouncy with the triplets, and also the part with the heavy dissonant chords, and the melody they create (buuuuuuuh buuhbuuhbuuhbuuuh buh buuuuuuuuh) it sounds so cool!!!

3. The Hanging Edge After the intro to the game, you're immediately thrown into a fuckin war, and this is what plays. That intro piano is such a unique opening, giving you that feeling of stress very unfitting of the start of most FF games, and then the rest of the song starts to build it up. The strings adding more stress and rising the song further, throwing in the percussion to add that heaviness to the song and the synth to show the vast and futuristic nature of the area, not to mention using the sound of a train stopping as an instrument (wording this as a joke but in context it's fitting)??? This song starts out so cool. But my absolute favorite part is when the fiddle (I think) comes in, and just goes absolutely bonkers with the sickest solo you've ever heard. You can say what you will about this game but goddamn the atmosphere of the opening is amazing.

2. Eidolons Similar to Desperate Struggle, I should hate this song for the very same reasons, but it slaps way too much for me to hate it for any reason. The entire song feels like constant buildup, never truly having a full melody or release, but I think that works perfectly for the stressful and timed nature of the fights it primarily plays on. I love the constant rhythm in the back, the heavy drums and the looping synth; and the guitar is fuckin rocking out the entire time. This whole song is a headbanger, also bringing in the orchestra to keep the same XIII vibe. The echoey nature of the end of the song, the guitar sounding like it's shredding in the distance, is my favorite part.

1. Blinded by Light This is THE XIII song. This is the trailer song, this is the second of the two main motifs, this is the battle song, this returns in the next two games constantly, and all of this for good reason! This song fucking bangs!!! The start is a perfect classic FF battle buildup while having its own unique nature, the drum set and guitar combined with the orchestra perfectly shows you the nature of this entire game's soundtrack, and not to mention. The melody. That violin. That violin is absolutely legendary. I don't really know how to word it, but the way it's composed is like crack for my ears. The high notes it hits, that main BUUUUUUH NUUUUUUUUUH BUHNUHHH NUUUUUUUUUH section is musical gold, and every single time I hear it in any other song that plays in this entire trilogy, I feel nothing buy joy and pure positive emotion.

Taskmaster Dream Contestants

Whenever people bring up their dream contestants, a few names always rattle around in my head, but I've never actually sat down and wrote out a proper list until today.

I should mention that Ivo Graham would be on this list if I wrote it several months ago, and I'm incredibly hyped to see what disastrous things he gets himself into during S15.

David O'Doherty

I mean, if you've been following my blog at all, this should be a no-brainer. He's a perfect mix of silly, wholesome, and weird that would be perfect for the show, with a hint of athleticism as well. And he hangs out with lots of TM-related people like Alex Horne, Tim Key, Rose Matafeo, Dara O Briain, and others to the point whether I question why he hasn't been on already. Only time will tell whether he becomes one of the fandom's beloved "old men." (A term I use loosely since he's in his 40s.)

Rob Brydon

I'll admit I only know him from Would I Lie To You and his Brydon & podcast (I haven't seen his stuff with Steve Coogan), but Rob seems like the type of contestant who isn't afraid to get into humiliating situations, while also having that combative banter side that Greg would waste no time trying to put down. And I guarantee you he'll try to squeeze in an impression whenever he can.

Susan Calman

Whenever I see Susan in the lineup on a panel show, I already know I'm gonna enjoy it. Her enthusiasm is insanely infectious, and I just know she'll want to throw herself head first into any task she'll get. Her QI episodes are legendary, and the way she can steer the entire room towards the weirdest situations has made me cry laughing numerous times. And she also seems to have a sweeter side to her that will surely make her a fan favorite.

Harriet Kemsley

There's a specific clip I saw of Harriet Kemsley on Hypothetical that was just pure insanity, and made me go "yeah, she's gonna be great on Taskmaster." Unfortunately the clip isn't accessible on US YouTube anymore for some reason, so you're gonna have to take my word for it. Between that one wild Hypothetical appearance, and her appearances on Catsdown and Guessable, Harriet is sure to be among the "chaotic" contestants, bursting with nervous energy. Something tells me that she'll also torment Alex during the tasks. Think Bridget Christie on TM but x20 at least.

Adam Hills

Can you believe I nearly forgot to include Adam Hills on this list? He's always a joy to watch on The Last Leg, and just appears to be a great human all around. He's athletic and has a great competitive spirit, but also very down to earth. Oh, and he's also hilarious and witty, and I bet he'll bring some level of sass to the studio portions of the show, with maybe a joke or two about his leg thrown in there.

Henry Paker

A bit of a left-field choice, but anyone who listens to the Three Bean Salad podcast (which also features Mike Wozniak) would agree that Henry is an odd man. His tangents on the podcast are legendary, and happen so often that someone actually calculated the speaking time between all three podcast hosts, determining Henry spoke over 10x longer than the others. His Wikipedia page sorta reads like a press release, and says Ivo Graham once called Henry's 2010 show the "funniest stand up he's ever seen." I could see him reaching Ardal or Bob levels of absurdity on the show.

Miles Jupp

I don't really know much about Miles' comedy outside of his appearances on Catsdown, but every time I see him show up during the introductions, I already know it's gonna be a great watch. His chemistry with Sean Lock (who would have easily been included on this list if things were different) was always a treat to watch, and I could watch them shoot the shit for hours on that show and not get bored.

Jamie Laing

This might be a controversial choice, since I've seen lots of people call him irritating. I know Jamie has his roots in reality TV (which I haven't watched), but the instances in which he's rubbed shoulders with comedians have really warmed me to the idea of seeing him on Taskmaster. Watching him be "confident" on House of Games despite being absolute shit at the quizzes is the perfect attitude I'd want in a Taskmaster contestant, and the comedian interviews he's done on his Private Parts podcast were excellent, and shows he already has great rapport with more established comics.

Richard Ayoade and David Mitchell

Both of these are cliche answers to the question "who do you want to see on Taskmaster," but they're brought up often for a reason: it would make for amazing television. A prevailing notion that's repeated when the prospect of Richard on TM is mentioned is that he "has a persona that he wouldn't want to break." This might also be true for David, but the joy of Taskmaster is how the show pushes back against personas and presents comedians for who they are, rather than how they would necessarily prefer to be seen. The idea of David having a breakdown over a silly, inconsequential task given to him would be the stuff of dreams, and I could already see Richard starting a task saying "I wouldn't want to do that," before immersing himself in the weirdness presented to him. Will they ever go on TM? Probably not. Do I still want it to happen? For sure. Listen, if VCM could agree, so could her husband.

heeseung is very creative, he knows how to make a situation turn around and knows how to pull out something completely unexpected. that is definitely a trait for a poison type pokemon. he also seems to be very hard headed, he is confident but sometimes it is too much, so he may be a poison-dragon type!

by process of elimination, heeseung is totally eternatus! not to mention, his moves would definitely be very unpredictable and dangerous. since eternatus is an alien that can make holes in spacetime, this is pretty fitting!

ace of swords, the hermit, nine of wands rx., the hanged man

jay is a very intelligent and secure person, he is extremely mature and seems to balance his head and his heart well. jay is also in tune with the world around him and seems to be able to connect with people very easily. which i think it very fitting for a psychic pokemon! it also seems that jay as a pokemon is extremely protective.

deoxys is a great fit given these conditions. deoxys is incredibly smart, being able to change form depending on what it needs. a lot of jay's moves could be something underneath the surface, which fits deoxys' telepathy shown in the anime!

queen of swords, ten of cups, knight of pentacles rx., the high priestess

jake is someone who cannot be held down, he is independent and jumps towards change and his own rules. suffice to say, he may be a little, if not a lot, mischevious. since i also got the emperor he is most likely only darkness, there is no need for him to have another type if he is already strong with one.

the only legendary pokemon that is strictly dark is darkrai! as i mentioned before, there really is no need for darkrai, or jake in this scenario, to have a dual type if he is already strong with one. darkrai is frequently described as the strongest dark type pokemon.

the wheel of fortune, the fool, the emperor

sunghoon is very stubborn about tradition, most of his decisions are based on his past and romanticizing the past. from this i believe that sunghoon would most likely be a dragon type. he would most likely be a dual type dragon-steel, as he can be resilient to what does not align with his beliefs, it can seem lik denial.

the only dragon-steel legendary is dialga, a member of the creation trio. dialga is very strong, being able to control time which fits nicely if sunghoon is heavily influenced by time related themes such as the past, present, and future.

sunoo is very hasty, it feel impatient but he seems to think or at least have a good idea about what is happening. sunoo also seems to be someone who moves very fast, but still, it seems to work out for him in the end. this best suits a water type pokemon. as for dual types, he most likely does not have one.

unlike the other members, there are a few pokemon that meet these conditions. to narrow it down, the background behind sunoo as a pokemon has something to do with fresh beginnings after a painful end. based on this suicune is the best option, since it is said to purify water!

jungwon seems to be someone who is very determined to work and fight towards what he thinks is right, he works for his own morals. he is also very aggressive when he does want something. his main type would probably be fighting. he can also seem to be a little stagnant and not want to change or back down, so his other type could be steel.

although zamazenta also meets these conditions, cobalion is described to radiate the airs of a leader and it is also categorized as an iron will pokemon. therefore, jungwon is most similar to cobalion.

judgement, eight of cups, death rx.

the way niki speaks may be a little dark, in a playful way. not to mean he is automatically a dark type, but it can be very sarcastic. he is a very intense and smart person, he follow his own ideas even if it can seem off-putting to some people. overall, he is independent without any shame. without a doubt niki is a ghost type, he can also be a dragon type since he trusts himself very well.

this automatically narrows niki down as giratina. similar to dialga, giratina is also another member of the creation trio. giratina lives in distortion world, somewhere that is foreign and warps everything we may commonly know. giratina also can control antimatter.

Students in awe and fear at Mr. Ackerman, their student's head of Maintenance and Disinfection. At such a small stature he gives off evil vibes when you carelessly dirty an area of the classroom. As much as they complain to their parents, they side with Mr. Ackerman after his explanation of cleaning after themselves builds their character. The students know it was Principal Smith's doing of fine toothing his explanation as Levi's cussing was legendary.

Enter Ms. Zoe or Hange as they prefer to be called. One of the tenors of the school and favorite professor of the students. It was common to see Levi stalking their class as hers was notorious of being messy and the students feel a win-win situation, they get to mess around while hang out with their favorite professor.

Much as the students complain about Levi they still find his tenacity for cleaning admirable and the incident of him fighting off some gangs outside the campus after they harassed one of the female students addedd to his appeal. The gang smelled like bleach for a week, warning the students if they were near, and the gang leader's cheek still had an indent of Levi's ring from where he was punched.

One of the resident bullies took it too far and started badmouthing Levi in Hange's class after she playfully reminded them to leave the lab as clean as possible as Levi would get angry with her. The bully said he was a thug, just a lowly janitor as he didn't finish his studies and his mental OCD to clean.

That was the 1st day the students felt fear when they saw Ms. Hange's gaze at him and the cold voice that they will escort the bully to the principal's office. He dropped out the following week.

If they looked closer, the students would have noticed identical matching rings on Mr. Ackerman and Ms. Hange. How they thought Levi cleaned last Hange's classroom as it was the messiest but it was because they could go home together after a day of work.

oh, i love aus with levihan as school workers so much! and, yes, there are a plenty of weirdos in the school (pe teacher mr zacharias has a very strange habit of smelling people, principal smith is way too passionate and intense sometimes), but levi and hange definitely are the leaders of the weirdos' chart. they're loved and respected in the school, although many students admire and fear them in equal amounts, and there are tons of gossips surrounding them. some believe that levi is an ex-thug, some are convinced that hange used to work for government as a scientist but was sent off to school because their research was way too controversial. and, of course, students don't miss the rings on levi and hange's fingers. no one is much interested in hange's love life (most believe that they're married to someone as crazy as them, there are also some students who think that hange is married to their lab assistant, moblit, although there is no ring on his finger). but levi..... oh, levi is a much more intriguing topic. students discuss his spouse constantly, wondering what they might look like. they imagine someone flawless, some as orderly and tidy as levi, someone who can effortlessly keep up with his cleaning standards. so when the secret (which isn't much of a secret, hange flirts with levi constantly and they spend every break together) is out, everyone's jaws is on the floor, no one can quite believe it, and the a bunch of the bravest students even ask hange directly about it, to which they reply with, "guys! don't you remember what i taught about magnets? opposites attract!"

A selection paints a fuller picture (but it's still curious): Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson's "Symphony" (because it was playing in the gym, and the music video is a masterpiece of an LGBT short film that brings me to tears every time – do watch if you haven't yet. It's beautiful). Also Miley Cyrus' "Flowers", the MSP boys' "You've Got Ma Back" and Tilly Birds' "Just Being Friendly." Gonna mention Dolly Parton's "9 to 5" and Dusty Springfield's "Son of a Preacher Man" too because they both popped up on YouTube. And Adam Lambert's version of Bonnie Tyler's "Holding Out for a Hero" because Tumblr decided to take a complaint about bots and set it to music (blogpost linked here).

LAST MOVIE 🔹 This one is way out of left field: Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 (the first Tamil movie I've watched in years, and it was SO GOOD). The book it's based on is also a classic. I'm not Tamil (or even of Indian ancestry) but the culture and language have a special place in my heart because of a childhood housekeeper/nanny who was more like family. Now thinking of watching RRR, but don't know if I will get around to it, because the energy in the clips seems a bit overwhelming. (Yes, I'm aware it's Telugu and not Tamil.) Prior to this – it was either Dune or Encanto (no hang on, maybe it was Everything Everywhere AAO; have been avoiding the cinema for a while since I couldn't get vaccinated earlier due to allergies and had to stay indoors quite a bit).

CURRENTLY READING 🔹 Don't hate on this – read the full explanation please – but with a tinge of guilt about the ethics of it all I'm re-reading a book about a certain boy wizard and his journey to self-actualization. Yes, I'm aware the author (whom I shall refrain from naming – like a Voldeuxmort) has in recent years fallen out of favor due to her views on trans issues, and is now a pariah among vast swathes of Tumblr, so please don't come at me, but I have my reasons.

When the books first came out I was fascinated by the world-building and concocted etymologies, but that's not the reason I'm re-reading. Thing is, I'm trying to learn another language (vastly different from the ones I do know) and the books are very useful for this. They have translations readily available in almost any language you could want, and I can cross-check any difficult bits with the English version, and I already know the story anyway. Plus there's lots of dialogue and the original author's style (or lack of it) isn't hugely literary – the prose is mostly functional, even pedestrian. And the plainness of the language helps when you're not ready (at learner level) for any leaps of linguistic trickery (except for the fantastical made-up bits, which you wouldn't need to learn anyway).

Also – and this is a big reason – my late mom loved these books, and they were the basis for a lot of shared memories for us. I remember watching the films with her and visiting the memorabilia stores too. They made her very happy, and this in turn made me happy. Mom also passed before any of the author's less savory views became public. So having them about reminds me of Mom a lot, back when things were simpler and without the current climate of nastiness.

So yes the books have become tarnished in my view, but the way I'm looking at it – these are books I already had even before the author's controversies broke to the surface, so it's not like I bought them recently and am indirectly supporting her here. I used to treasure these books for their imaginative content, rather less so now. There is still beauty in them, but they're also devalued in other ways. I'm not going to throw them out just yet (not right now anyway) – because for now they're also portkeys to happy memories and happier times.

I think of them like this – they're like the heirloom antiques passed down from generations before, but then you get them appraised and suddenly you find out they're not quite the precious artifacts you thought they were. But just because Mom's old clock or statue turned out to be a dud, it doesn't mean I can't use it as a doorstop or paperweight (or just another decorative tchotchke). You don't have to give it pride of place on the mantelpiece, but you can keep it for different uses that bring utility to your life in other ways. (And as always the other voice in my head is going "Yeaaah well, but that clock face has radium and the statue is flaking lead paint! You have a toxic doorstop that could kill the dog and that paperweight is also poisoning the worktable!" OK, valid points; just give me a little bit more time to figure this one out, please. 🤷‍♂️)

For now I'm using these books as functional learning aids, rather than throwing them out straightaway (it's better for the environment too, I tell myself). When my grief over Mom's passing fades (as it will, it must) maybe I can let them go of them then. 😥💖

SO GOOD with hot coffee and Thai BL. Also munching on the odd slice of gourmet bak kwa from a secret source, plus arrowhead chips.

thinking about fantasy au crown prince tsukasa who travels from his kingdom (reimei) to yumenosaki for ~political reasons, accompanied by knight izumi and diplomat arashi

upon arriving, the entourage has some free time to themselves, and kasakun goes and ends up around the surrounding woods, which he was not informed was enchanted to basically drive anyone who goes in it insane as it's basically a living labyrinth.

enter sora, a half-fae half-human who was recently promoted to the rank of official apprentice by natsume after being on probation for a few months, having come to live in the human world a little less than a year ago. sora likes to hang around and observe people so he stays in the new village around the outskirts of the main city (in a very superficial area of the forest), and he quickly catches wind of someone in distress around the area—obviously it is dear prince kasa

so naturally he goes to help him out and ends up making a friend! tsukasa is so spooked by his experience (they don't have magical woods in reimei... no genius tutor or master of etiquette or political strategist teaches you how to deal with these kinds of situations...) that sora misreads his panic as a more serious illness and brings him deeper into the forest to a little cabin where they are greeted by what appears to be two witches...

except it's not two witches! it's just one witch and his familiar, an old as fuck woodland spirit. sora introduces tsukasa to his master sora and to tsumugi... together the three make up the switch apothecary (bad at names forgive me) who, at this point in time, are little more than legendary because of how rarely they actually extend help to the villagers and cityfolk. this is due to their hesitance to return to and meddle with human society after some unsavory experiences a few years before sora's arrival.

after assessing tsukasa and clearing him of any ailments (c/o local healer and herbalist tsumugi) natsume joins them back to the entrance of the city, overseeing sora's navigation of the forest as he isn't 100% confident and capable of making his way through it (though he is absurdly talented and will probably get to natsume's level of proficiency with it in a few more months—it took natsume years)

when tsukasa returns, izumi and arashi are about to lose their shit and call a search party but then they learn about the boy who helped their prince and how he has two magician masters who also helped their prince who won't accept any reward that they offer. until they ask for the last time if there's anything in their power they can offer, and sora asks if they can put in a good word for the apothecary, particularly for his masters, because they still don't think themselves to be welcome in yumenosaki despite the loneliness of existing in the middle of nowhere, and in the case of natsume constantly traveling... basically sora asks them to help him give his seniors a renewed sense of purpose and community, which is for his own sake as well, as a halfling who wants to know more and be a part of human society

Persona 6: Genesis

A fan concept for Persona 6. An entire blog dedicated to it, with posts going through the entire plot of the game, character art created, maps planned out, and various other little things. It's been sort of put on the back burner, but it's still fun to look at sometimes.

Obsidian Sea DLC

A similar concept to Genesis, but so far faring better in the fact the actual story of it is in the works of being written. It's a hypothetical DLC for Fire Emblem: Three Houses that introduces three brand new units as part of Jeralt's Mercenaries, and makes Jeralt playable to round out as their fourth. The main plot of the DLC sees Jeralt's Mercenaries, Byleth, and their students going to Brigid to uncover the reason why people keep coming back from the dead with white hair and crests, then proceeding to turn into Demonic Beasts.

Verdant Wind: The Musical Twin AU

A series of videos edited in such a way that comes across as a musical retelling the story of the Verdant Wind route of Fire Emblem: Three Houses. With the idea that there's various parts that are incorrect either due to being lost to history or because of... "artistic vision."

The Gemini

A Persona 5 fangame that adds a social link for Shiho Suzui, making her a romanceable character while exploring her trauma and how she's growing as a person. Technically playable, but incomplete in my vision.

Ultimate Decades Drama

A collection of mini challenges for players of the Sims 4, specifically the Ultimate Decades Challenge. As I'm only a console player, I struggle with playing the challenge itself, but I love watching playthroughs. I heard a few people talk about struggling with stories or directions they wanted to take Sims, so I thought "Hey, I can tell stories. Let's see if I can translate that into something helpful."
