favorite thing about them

there’s a lot i love about him, but i think if i had to choose… his strong heart. like the fact that he didn’t need to have his heart changed forcefully, that, with a little push, he realized stuff on his own to be try to be better, god, it makes me weep every time. he came out of the kamoshida arc traumatized (without anyone’s help or apology to help with the fallout, too) , shit self-esteem, and the desperate desire to be someone more than himself– to be important, to feel needed and cared for, and used all of that to try to HELP, so that other victims like him can have a fighting chance for better, so they can be saved, so there’s not another Kamoshida-like incident again, not if he can actually have the courage and strength to do something about it this time around

i do NOT like how he’s so lenient with MC being a literal ass to him. like, okay yeah, i get that it’s atlus’ awful clownery– but it makes me enraged to think that he leaves the kamoshida incident…just to walk into a situation where MC treats him like dirt. i mean. i can see the realism in his idolization of MC for saving him and the other students, i get the abuse narrative cycle and how it gets perpetuated, i GET it. but… i’m emo and want better for him (with friends that cherish him too ;_;)

favorite line

ooooh that’s a hard one. if we go by emotional gut punch, his “he’s my best friend” line makes me cry. If we go by iconic spotlight, obvs his “kek” line. if we go by consistent characterization, i really go :D whenever he expresses his outrage at injustice on behalf of the mementos request victims. if we go by line that absolutely shocked a laugh out of me, it’s the phone dialogue where he’s telling MC about the girl bullying her bf and he likens the dynamic to S&M and MC goes “lol does the M stand for Mishima?” and mishima just replies, “that’s a secret.” i was. not expecting that, lord

i die for shujin crew jock friendship with Shiho/Mishima/Ryuji. i think it’d be a funny and cute dynamic, and wish atlus put a bit more spotlight on these three together, esp since they’re direct victims by kamoshithead’s hands directly… ;; i also like to think they were close at one point in middle school before high school took their souls

i don’t particularly like the depiction of him being this frail, weepy boy. he was in athletics, endured kamoshida’s everything with physical bruises and wounds to show for it, and has a cutthroat streak to survive. like. my boy is a lot tougher than he looks, even if he’s short and shows very soft and/or insecure moments. he’s the backbone of the phantom thieves, after all

> “This is by far the best healing spell anyone has ever used on me.” You say as a smile forms on your lips

> “Just don’t go around getting hurt on purpose so I can heal you like this all the time.”

> “Only sometimes.” She teases

> But of course, as soon as she understood, she was unstoppable

> “N-Noir took out five enemies with a single grenade…” You say, gripping your weapon tightly

> As you say this, Noir quickly spins to face you and jumps up with excitment

> “[Code name]! Joker! Did I do good?” She asked with an innocent smile on her face
