I’m writing this after writing everything under the cut, I love talking about my ocs and ideas and I will take any opportunity to talk about them. I have so many I didn’t even mention below-

Now I’ve been developing a story for less than a year now called The Storyteller’s Game where the whole premise is: Sage gets trapped in a different reality to play in a being called The Storyteller’s game. They have to find others to escape while Storytellers throws obstacles in the way.

A lot of my ocs currently are from that project so I’ll talk about my favs from that!!

Sage is the protagonist who I adore! They are based on some of my favorite protagonists in shows/games such as Phoenix Wright, Sara Chidouin, and Hajime Hinata. They have plant and owl motifs. (Everyone in the TSG universe have an animal inspiration)

Storyteller is probably my absolute favorite!! She usually resembles a human with ermine/weasel features and is the main antagonist with Corvis, an anthropomorphic crow. She is chaotic and likes to have fun due to her excitable nature. (Think Hades from KIU).

Moth is also a favorite of mine. He’s a human kid with a really sad backstory. Without going into detail, his parents weren’t the best and now he lives alone with issues. I’ve had him for years and I’ve always found him so interesting because of how he is now when looking at his past. Like, he is the youngest in the human cast but he’s vulgar and violent due to his environment. A nicer thing I can add here is that he has a scarf based on the Deathhead’s Hawk Moth! It’s a very cool bug I can assure you!!

Kitt is another fav of mine who is a Sherlock Holmes fanboy. He was actually very much inspired from Sherlock in the Great Ace Attorney. He has gone through some stuff but he has people who care about him: his father and his brother/friend Italo, a wannabe lawyer). There’s a drawing of him on the other blog but I’ll describe it here. He has a pink ribbon around the collar on his collared shirt which was a gift from one of his dad’s friends fun fact!

I’ve show him here before I got the new blog but Aries has always been a favorite!! He looks human with some goat features. He used to be a one-off oc but I’ve been getting ideas for him! Their whole thing is that they have a short-term memory and they forgot everything about their human life (I should add they’re 11yrs old). I wanna make it so they believe that forgetting painful memories is better than living with them as they died so young and have mixed emotions about being the only one in the antagonist group to not remember anything about it)

I do also have ocs who aren’t a part of this universe!

Loki and Dice are some old ocs I wanna revamp. They are humans/humanoids with animal features. Loki is a goat and Dice is a cat. They were friends who had a falling out. Why you may ask… I have no clue right now-

Sparkle and Arcane are two animal ocs I had many years ago that I remembered existed and wanted to bring back. Sparkle is a fox/cat/dog creature from outer space and Arcane is a creature from earth. Sparkle can’t go back home but Arcane finds her and shows her around his world. Sparkle is also inspired by Sylveon

I also have another universe where three guys go on adventure to stop an evil warlock/wizard from trying to take over the world. Max is a human sword fighter, Eve is a witch and uses magic, and Dyle is a half-dragon maybe prince. Max is the grounded one, Eve is the silly one, and Dyle is the egotistical one. Eve also has a pet named Noi-Noi and Dyle has a small dragon friend named Quill!

Look, the first time was an accident, okay? Joan was tired and a bit incoherent and what was Thomas supposed to do?!! Leave them be? No! So Joan ended up staying the night.

Except, the next morning was when everyone had entered the courtroom together and they'd gotten WAY too dramatic over whether to lie to them about a text they'd made like… two days ago and that Thomas had only seen after combing through a barrage of memes and that Joan probably wouldn't remember, come to think about it. But that was hindsight and after the utter nightmare that was a whole day (A whole day!!) with Aunt Patty the day before, Virgil and Patton were absolutely freaking out, probably giving Deceit (Who, in hindsight, Thomas knows as Janus) a little extra leeway into the conversation that day.

Either way, Joan had stayed the night in order to recover from the utter sleep-deprivation that they'd been going through, and Thomas had forgotten about the fact that Joan was even there for most of the morning, only seeing them after the entire courtroom spectacle (and a suspiciously dire warning from Virgil) at breakfast, and them leaving to see Talyn a little after (with plenty of hugs involved, duh).

Then Thomas told Joan the truth over the call, and Joan had said The Line (as Roman, Virgil and Janus call it with an oddly cryptid-like voice) and Thomas felt himself go frigid.

Since when did Joan know that Thomas talked to his sides?! Had they learned their names? Figured out that Thomas might just have a few extra screws loose than they might have initially thought?

"Maybe they even hate us now because we got so crazed over one little text and--”

“Virgil. Not helping!” Thomas yelps, and Virgil catches himself in his spiel of worst case scenarios, looking a bit sheepish. Patton and Thomas smile at him reassuringly (he hopes) and Logan clears his throat, causing everyone to turn to him.

“Well, Joan seems to be aware enough of the fact that you speak to us, but mostly considers it as you, as they had said, ‘talking to yourself’, and besides, you didn’t name-drop us too many times, anyways. And while it’s not really...ideal, that Joan thinks you talk to yourself for this long-”

“You can say that again, Stephen Hawk-Nerd”, murmured Roman. Logan winces, and Thomas kind of wants to hug him, so he does.

“Yes, Roman, and as bad as that nickname is, note that this is not, in fact a worst-case scenario. This can be put down to the fact that Thomas has some strange personality quirks-”

“Did you just do some wordplay there, kiddo?” Patton beams at the implication, while Logan, currently being shared by Thomas and Virgil, just groans and descends further into the contact.

“No, I did not, Patton, but what I am saying, is that this is not too bad. We can talk about it as a general personality quirk. This is fine.” Logan finishes, and becomes a heap in the total hug-pile of Thomas and Virgil, flopping over. Huh, he (as usual) has a point. Maybe this can work.

The second time was a pretty near miss, but once again, it was unexpected! He and the sides were just watching Mulan together as usual! They were piled up together, blankets in hand, and yeah, it might look weird to anyone who can’t see the sides, he guesses, with the blankets stretched out in places that have nothing to stretch onto, but once again, he wasn't expecting someone to come over! But anyways- whatever happens, happens. He's trying to be better about it.

It really doesn't stop Janus from pulling out all the stops (teaming up with Virgil, even!) when it comes to having to come up with an alibi to Terrence over why the blankets are arranged so strangely, even though there is literally nothing keeping it afloat. In the end, it's not the most believable lie, but Terrence is busy with Valerie just after, so he probably doesn't really think about it too hard. Besides, Thomas has always been a pretty quirky guy! ("Which could be an insul--" "Jack and Sullen, we love you very very much, but please, for the love of all things Disney, please breathe and take out your fidget cube..") So hey, what was a new quirk when added to everything else?

Meanwhile, Terrence is trying to figure out what the fuck he just saw, because he's pretty sure that there were more than one Thomas there, and Thomas only has two other brothers. Also none of them dress like twenties mobsters or are semi-transparent.

Nico was having a good day. In fact, he still is!

He and his (amazing) boyfriend were sitting on the couch- though more draped on top of each other than anything while binge watching ELITE and Tiny Pretty Things, while also being pleasantly high (as opposed to stoned).

Things only entered strange territory when during one of the flashback murder-y scenes in Tiny pretty Things, a strange man who looked like an even more chaotic Thomas with some grey hair on him entered the room from seemingly nowhere, and proceeded to occupy the sparse space on Thomas’s lap with his head, essntially just napping on his boyfriend’s lap while also being kind of see-through (???!!!???AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH). Thomas noticed, waved a small wave and started playing with this weird guy’s hair.

Nico is now a little high from the bong that he and Thomas had shared, but not enough to hallucinate, especially since, when the high was pretty much gone, the guy was STILL THERE. MIERDA. At this point, he’s just going to call it ghosts. Thomas doesn’t seem to mind too much anyways, so they must not be harmful. Nico decides to table this for another day and go back to binge watching crazy maniacs with his very soft and warm boyfriend, and let the remainder of the high coast along.

"We have to talk about the Thomas thing." Is the first thing Joan says without any bullshit, as soon as everyone except Thomas himself, Gavin (because it's two AM) and Quil are packed together in Thomas's living room, where he just binged Parks and Rec with everyone. They've all finally managed to shove Thomas and Quil back to their respective areas of sleep after 42 hours without said sleep, and nobody was allowed to talk loud enough for them to wake up.

"The… Thomas thing?" Asks Valerie. Oh that sweet summer child. Joan once again quietly calls everyone's attention by asking Talyn to shake their hair around like a neon-coloured alarm bell. This was especially effective in the otherwise dark kitchen where they were trying out glow in the dark hair dye.

"Well, as of lately, we've been seeing a lot, and I mean a lot of really weird shit coming from Thomas. Everyone, recount your experiences." Joan says in the most serious voice they've got. "I'll go first."

They wave their hands like Matt Mercer, as if they were setting up a dope DND campaign. Quietly, of course.

"Well, about a month ago now, I was cleaning here, at Thomas's, because I was sleep-deprived and would have crashed and died if I'd tried to go back to mine and Talyn's. So most of the night goes normally, as one would expect, but when I wake up in the morning…" Joan readjusts their beanie. "I hear Thomas in the living room, talking to people called Logan, Roman, someone called Pat, Virgil and 'deceit'. And this debate becomes an ordeal, alright? He re-enacts a whole entire ace-attorney style courtroom scene with these imaginary people? I called him out on it over the phone when he apologized for some random thing- I don't remember, and he kind of just… admitted that he talks to himself? And moved on.

Everyone absorbs this new information. Camden keeps braiding Talyn's hair.

"But that's not too big of a deal, right Joan?" Whispers Camden, tying up the elaborate mini fishtail plait in Talyn's hair. "I mean, thanks Thomas we're talking about. He could have been rehearsing or something- isn't he JD in the next production of Heathers?"

Terrence speaks up next. "Yes, this would have been all well and good, had the Blanket Incident ™ not occured."

Valerie shakes her head. Why are her friends like this? Oh wait. They’re all theatre nerds, queer and D&D players.

"In the blanket incident ™, I was walking past Thomas's room, as one does. HOWEVER, while he was watching Mulan, I noticed something wrong with his blanket pile!"

"What, that they don't have any Vetal Miking references on them? Because that's the true tragedy here."

"Nope, sorry Tal, the weirdness here was not about Vetal Miking references, but the fact that parts of the blanket were freaking floating, in thin air! I have discreet pictures!"

"What the fuck, Terrence." whispered everyone in a strange, haunting unison that could only be possible at two AM as they saw the very strange pictures.

"And that's not it!" Pipes up Talyn, who is now realising that they are very close to becoming too loud for 2 AM kitchen chats, and makes an effort to quiet down.

"At breakfast today, Thomas's waffles were making themselves- Thomas can't cook, y'all. And he can't even use is fucking waffle iron. And he was on the other side of the room! Talking to Quil!" After Quil left, he told the waffle creator to chill out because the stack was getting too tall!"

"Is this about Thomas's ghosts, guys?" Asks Nico, the new cute boyfriend and new theatre company writer as he plops down in Quil's usual spot. Nico's nice- everyone likes Nico except maybe Nico, to which, well, mood. ALSO- ghosts?!!

"Nico what the fuck do you mean by ghosts, you serial killer in training?"

"One, just because I have to write a serial killer in this new script and I'm enjoying it, it doesn't mean I'm gonna be a serial killer, you tonte. Two: yeah, the ghosts that follow him around and look just like him? They seem nice enough." At everyone's super unspoken request to elaborate, for fuck's sake, he takes the hint and does.

“Oh! So the first time I saw them, I was at the mall. You know, where Thomas and I met?” everyone nods, and Talyn readjusts their braces.

“So there was this guy in a hoodie- Virgil, as you said, and the Disney prince. Roman, I think. And they were just kind of… there? Roman was holding Virgil’s shoulder affectionately, and that’s about it. They were only really visible after about three or four hours of us talking, though.” Some of the people hum.

“Then, we were watching a movie and these two guys who also look a lot like Thomas just kind of lounged? On the couch? They were pretty faint, like if their brightness was decreased to about thirty percent in Photoshop.”

“Hey, same!” says Terrence.

“Yeah, so those guys- the one in the green t-shirt that has the legs on the bus meme- so weird- kind of just stretches onto Thomas’s lap and stays there, while the twenties mobster just… curls up to his side? And thomas is probably like, used to this because he kind of just lets it be and curls the meme shirt-”

“I think it’s Remus.”

“-Remus’s hair absentmindedly and moves on.”

“Fuck.” Whispered Joan very softly, but with great feeling.

“So what do we do about it?” asks Camden. There, finally, someone asks the real questions.

“Well,” puts forward Talyn. “They’re not harming him, right? And he’s had them around for a long enough time, right? So what’s the harm? Thomas is just haunted and will probably be on Buzzfeed Unsolved: Supernatural at some point when he dies but hey, if he’s cool with it, we are too.”

Everyone seems to agree with that, and they’re in comfortable silence, until Valerie asks everyone to go the fuck to sleep, we’re still doing the Heather’s costume rehersals and Death Week starts in two days. With groans and cracked joints from Talyn, everyone hobbles off to their respective rooms in the duplex.

Meanwhile, a certain white-streaked side and his hoodied companion are listening through the wall, far away from what anyone can see, and they both visibly sigh in relief. That didn’t go too badly. The question remains: what do we do now?

“They KNOW????” exclaims Thomas, the next day in the (thankfully empty) breakroom, in between rehearsals- Candy Store is being run through and that means that everyone else is outside.

“Yes, Thomas, they know. Or they somewhat know, I suppose.”

“Yeah, because they think we’re-Thomas is being HAUNTED!!’

“Are you not haunted, then?” comes a voice, and Thomas turns around, forgetting to let the sides dissipate in his surprise. It’s Nico, with Talyn and Valerie close behind, who are clearly taking in the six other guys in the breakroom. Well, fuck. The cat’s out of the bag for good, he guesses.

“Could you get everyone else during lunch break? I’ll explain then.” Talyn nods and leaves with a smile, telling him that they’re not mad at him, while Nico asks, voice farther away “So are you haunted or not?”.

“So they’re… aspects of your personality that you’ve been able to manifest since you were a kid?” Camden asks, a bit disbelieving, even as Logan, Roman, Patton and Janus drape themselves over Thomas on one of the beanbags in the breakroom, filled with other nerdy gay young adults. Logan pushes up his glasses, ready to go on another tangent. Go wild, you funky little dude.

“Well yes, that’s exactly what we're saying. I myself am the embodiment of Logic- every fact that Thomas has ever learned, and his, and these are his words, not mine, ‘the only braincell’. He makes the air quotes to go with the expression, but is also smiling fondly.

“Classic Thomas.”

“Yes, Valerie, I am inclined to agree. However, this is not specific to Thomas. Other people can, in fact, do what Thomas is. Lilly Singh is one of them- the reason that she and Thomas are even friends is because in high school Thomas caught her talking to one of her sides in the art room.”

“So wait-- we can summon sides too?!” asks Nico, and he and Camden look genuinely excited, but Thomas knows the answer to that question.

“Unfortunately no, not really. You have to have an extremely active imagination, and also be ‘innocent’, as society would put it. I’d say näive.”

“For example, I couldn’t make any more sides after i was fourteen, because I watched the news by then.” pipes in Thomas. Joan seems to process this first, nodding and grinning sardonically. “Ah yes, the news. Wrecking childhoods since forever.” everyone nods in gay syncing, because gay minds think at the same time.

Valerie suddenly speaks up; “So how many sides do you have, Thomas?”

Thomas perks up, because his sides are possibly his favourite metaphysical beings (as narcissistic as that might sound) “I have six! My logic, morality, both creativities- Kids and Family and PG13-and-up, anxiety and deceit! I have two creativities because of catholic guilt and my mind’s inherent need to cause chaos, I guess.”

“Valid” replied Valerie.

The rest of break passed by pretty smoothly, with questions being passed back-and-forth about what the sides truly were, considering they clearly were not just Thomas, and Virgil even felt okay enough to come in later! So that was good. Though he kind of wishes Remus had made fewer Heathers jokes- Camden was starting to look squeamish, even as Nico frantically took notes of gorey facts to use in his script.

Honestly, Thomas thought to himself. What was I scared of?

Irrational things. And rejection, replies Virgil in his head. He laughs and pulls him in for a hug, and tries as he might to deny it, Virgil is looking pretty chuffed.

Turnabout Memories

Hello and hap’piraki, everyone!

(Whoa...  Déjà vu.)

Now that we’re finally nearing the end of this (*twitch, twitch*) year, and now that I’m preparing to step off this blog for a time, I’d like to take a moment to reminisce about all the ground we’ve covered since the day I first discovered the uniquely fun experience of Ask Ace Attorney.

It all began a few years ago when...

Oh, right -- this’ll probably be pretty lengthy, so I’ll continue below the cut.

It all began a few years ago when I discovered Ask Ace Attorney through a Google search.  I don’t remember most of the details, but when I first found out about a blog that attempts to bring video game characters to life through blog posts and the power of imagination, I thought the idea was both strange...and amazing.

I’d only recently started getting into Ace Attorney at the time (after seeing Matthew Taranto’s hilarious mashup between it and the Kirby series), so I decided to send in a few letters and see if they’d get an answer.  Sure enough, a few months later, I saw the first response to one of them!  It was a pretty exciting feeling, to say the least.

I’d share that letter response here, but unfortunately, it included my real name, so we’ll have to save it for later.  For now, here are a couple of the earliest ones from me: a deeply emotional one from Dahlia to Iris (a little far-fetched, maybe, but I CAN SEE IT HAPPENING, THE MOD), and a short, punny one from Moe to Phoenix.  Not surprisingly, I enjoyed seeing the characters react to them in ways I found believable as much as I enjoyed writing these and several other letters.  I knew the Mod (the only moderator here at the time) wasn’t affiliated with Capcom, but his character portrayals were spot-on each time, and my creative spark and love for Ace Attorney received some constant fuel for a while thanks to this blog.

And then...this happened.  For a brief moment, I thought about how fun it would be to see if I could do what the Mod had been doing for so long, but then I decided it’d probably be better to leave it in someone else’s hands.  Sure, I was a huge fan of Ace Attorney and its loveable characters, but did I really love them enough to pretend to be them on a hugely popular blog?  Naaah.

I went over the rest of that story once before, so I’ll just give a brief recap here: my friend the Modthorne won the audition to become the next de Modder, I asked her if I could join, and then it ended up just being me here, followed by Mods Paups, Kristoph, and Maya.  That’s the way we became the Ask Ace Attorney bunch.

So, when I first made my debut as the Commode Co-Mod, my only real strategy for answering letters was to emulate the Mod's style.  I honestly wondered if I could accurately portray so many different personalities in a believable way, but, with a few hiccups along the way, I somehow managed to pull it off to some degree.  I also started developing my own style and becoming less conscientious about how my portrayals looked (that definitely took some time, though), and worrying less about the blog’s popularity and overall performance review.  That, I believe, was a big part of what made both of those steadily rise over time, until we ended up reaching and surpassing 12,000 followers!  (I’m still geekin’ out about that one.)  Just relaxing and going with the flow made things a lot easier for me, and apparently helped Ask Ace Attorney reach its current level of popularity.  Something tells me that choice paid off in the end, and thank goodness.

I of course have to give credit to the popularity of Ace Attorney and its characters, as well as the Mod for giving me and the other moderators so much material to start off with, but I sure never expected my role in helping to build the Ace Attorney fandom’s strength and size to be quite this large.  Heck, just getting to create things for so many people is a huge honor, so...what can I say to that, except a huge thank you to Capcom and the Mod?

Don’t worry, I’ll get to thanking all of you in just a moment.  ; )

So, anyway, that’s all the general stuff.  Let’s talk about the highlights of the last three years, now, shall we?

My first holiday-related post was an April Fool’s Day one, so let’s start there.  We came close to hearing about Phoenix’s lawyer camp incident...

...gave a few of the characters a chance to ask some questions of their own...

...had a little run-in with some of the bad guys...

...and briefly opened the window into some characters’ minds.

We sure didn’t fool around when it came to fooling around, did we?

Then there was Halloween.  We dealt with a creeper in the darkness...

...let one of the lesser-known characters go on a brief venture beyond the fourth wall...

...let some characters switch outfits and personalities for a short while...

...and paid homage to a classic interactive cartoon by letting them give out candy.

We sure had our fill of sweets and spooks, didn’t we?

And then there was Christmas, which included some of my favorite content.  We enjoyed a musical performance by several members of the Ace Attorney cast...

...a less flattering musical performance by yours truly...

...a short play taking place in Pearls’s dreams...

...and a fan-made song parody about a non-canon (but believable) incident involving Phoenix and a reindeer.

I don’t know about you, but I loved every bit of our holiday hijinks.

And of course, we can’t leave out some of the great moments that occurred on non-holidays, including Her Benevolence falling victim to a classic comedy gag...

...Pearls meeting herself from a different time period somehow...

...Apollo taking a trip to the Pokemon world in his dreams...

...Athena getting tricked into thinking she had passed on briefly...

...Trucy getting caught red-handed by Arnold Schwarzenegger himself...

...and, uh...this thing happening to Iris.

No idea what I was thinking back then.  Sometimes you just have to go with the moment.

Not to mention one letter response that received an unexpected explosion of popularity.  Edgeworth always did know how to drop a sass bomb, didn’t he?  And one moment I’ll likely never forget is the letter regarding Athena’s hair.  For the record, I thought the shorter hairstyle looked okay, but somehow I didn’t think she would feel the same way.  Make of that what you will.  X )

Of course, it wasn’t all fun times and laughter -- I ended up stepping on some toes by accident, making a few jokes in bad taste, struggling to keep a balance between blogging and the real world, and...well...

...that happened.  I don’t regret a moment of it, though, because if Ace Attorney (and life) have taught me anything, it’s that powering through the less enjoyable moments in life is what makes us stronger, and what makes the good times that much more enjoyable.

But out of all the fun, hilarious, thought-provoking, and deeply touching moments that stood out in the last three years of blogging, the one I would say I enjoyed the most is this one.  It was my first attempt at responding to a letter in character (with one of the biggest “characters” in the series, no less), but, as with many of my letter responses, it also included some of me in it -- specifically, the part where Athena tries to sound optimistic, but not too prideful.  That was the sort of attitude I wanted to have whenever I answered letters -- I wanted to keep the fun and creativity of Ace Attorney and its characters going without injecting too much of myself into it.  The series wasn’t mine, after all, and neither was the blog, so my main goal was simply to sound like the characters.

And with that in mind, let me just say this: If any of these letters (even one of them) have made you smile or laugh on an unpleasant day, made you think about things from a different perspective, or simply helped you suspend your disbelief for a moment and believe you’re actually talking to someone from a video game, then my goal has been reached.

Anyway, I didn’t mean for this to be my goodbye speech (I’m saving that for later).  What it is is a sincere thank you for the fun and creativity that I and the rest of the moderators were able to engage in with all of you, thanks to our shared love of Ace Attorney, its characters, and its unique humor and depth.  Every last piece of witty dialogue, every picture, every song, and every custom sprite (the last of which can be found here), was inspired by your creativity and willingness to participate in this imaginative collaboration work.

I hope you’ve enjoyed it at least half as much as I have.  You guys are awesome.

i hopefully am not mistaken, but i believe i was TEN. i’ve basically leant how to write, how to use a computer, and bam, there i was roleplaying - at the beginning via e-mail with two friends, so it was private and a safe place to learn. rping is one of the few things that i’ve ALWAYS loved and ALWAYS kept on returning to, and whenever i happen to get away from it for some time i feel a big hole where it should be. you can say it’s always been part of my life, haha!

17.   what was your first muse?

i think it was an alter ego of mine...? basically a sonic oc, but one of those that you create upon yourself to shove yourself in your favourite series. but at the same time, i might remember wrong... i certainly remember that the alter ego was between my first ones, together with an ace attorney original character - which, by the way, i should take back... i still cherish that prosecutor with the gentle soul i created when i was way too young for ace attorney.

30.   what are your favorite RP tropes to play? (angst, hurt-comfort, etc…)

OKAY SO. i’ll admit... it’s angst, but. that kind of angst that makes the character grow, that makes them clench their fists and scream their lungs out, that kind of angst that is supposed to make them break and instead makes them stronger. this is the exact type i love to write - and it also lets me write a lot of introspective, which is something i’ve always simply adored write about. second place for violent threads, because writing fights with another person is so sweet and brings out the strongest and most raw emotions; third place for those kind of threads that make you laugh and laugh as you read them, and whenever you read them again you laugh even more. the fun ones, in short - the ones i tend to do with billy joe cobra or charley, to say a couple.

but let’s be real, i enjoy and love writing everything, as long as the thread inspires both me and my rp partner. fluff and angst can both bring so much development and interesting introspective things, especially if it’s fluff that comes after the angst; hurt-comfort is always a good ol’ goodie, and so on. and while i tend to avoid writing it, those rare cases i get to write a bit of suggestive, i find it as interesting as the other genres. it can bring out the most complex and interesting emotions to explore, and i’m definitely interested in exploring them with some of my muses.

Razeluxe’s Top Ten Male Characters

So I’ve been thinking about doing a particular list for my favorite characters across anime and games for quite a while and with some advice I decided to break it into my favorite male and favorite female characters. Most people that know me can probably guess at my top three favorites but if you don’t know me... well you ‘bout to learn lol. This was harder than I thought to compile...enjoy my fanboying of the boys lol.

By the by, I’ll do my best to keep spoilers to a minimum.

10) Apollo Justice (Phoenix Wright Series)

I’ve played only two games that this character was in (Apollo Justice and Dual Destinies, slowly working through Spirit of Justice) and this character particularly in Dual Destinies struck me even more than Edgeworth who is another amazing character. Apollo has an amazing spirit and it was only through playing Dual Destinies that I really got to understand Mr. ‘I’m Fine’ and his stupid ‘Here comes Justice’ puns. I feel his original game didn’t allow him to shine (still a great entry in the Ace Attorney series I don’t care what anyone says) and Dual Destinies allows him the development he deserves. He gets hurt during a trial and it allows a deep dive of his character even if his personality shifts for a while. Damn he’s savage. He’s considered the underdog in the Wright Anything Agency but he’s to me the hardest working person there who is also the most factual in court.

9) Gokudera (Katekyo Hitman Reborn)

Or as I like to call him, Scowludera since he’s scowling like 90% of the time. This Ichigo ripoff’s character development is insane. And I think that trend follows most if not all the characters in this list. His relationship with his sister is interesting and he’s pretty explosive in terms of personality and intelligence. His fights are all really interesting too, he has some of my favorite interactions in the series thus far (haven’t read the post anime manga chapters yet sadly, but he’s more than earned this spot on this list). He butts heads with people a lot and he can be ignorant but he grows from his experience and you get to see it bit by bit. This dude is loyal to the bone. RIP if you aren’t Tsuna or Reborn. Also, I’d like to shout out this anime as one of the few to do the shounen genre proper justice. Go watch it. Also his sister Bianchi is <3. Oh wait. Male list. Oops. Can we also talk about his weapon? Not gonna say spoilers but that thing is dope and probably one of the best ever designed weapons. And his kitty Uri <3

8) Joshua Bright (Trails in the Sky)

This will be short as I don’t want to spoil anything, but Joshua is a very easy character for me to connect to personally. His feelings, actions, development probably relates more to me than a lot of characters on this list. He’s got good people around him...I’m very happy for his ship and support it 120%. Also the Trails Series, both Sky and Cold Steel are probably my favorite series of anything period. Go play it. There is more to this character that meets the eye and has broken my heart more than once ;_;

7) Neku Sakuraba (The World Ends With You)

Neku Neku Neku. Another very relatable character for me (see the theme here? lol) He initially shuts out people and over time, through his experience in the Reapers Game, he starts to open up and bring people into his circle. He goes through some crap, like a lot of trauma. When you learn of him it’s no wonder he wound up disliking people and society. He’s extremely creative and that creativity manifests itself in different ways. Kinda like me. It’s worth mentioning I used to roleplay this character back in the day, the very first canon character I used to write for. 

6) Shulk (Xenoblade Chronicles)

One of the only blonde’s on this list. Shulk is a character that is driven by revenge but eventually changes. He goes through some pretty traumatic stuff that I absolutely will not spoil. His personality when he encounters a certain characters shifts big time and it’s kind of scary considering how early you see this. Also he gets points for being a notably intelligent character. I mean, the dude has his own lab...and is able to fix and adjust stuff. He’s really a great and well balanced character despite all the crap he goes through. Also I used to make fun of this character and dislike him a little bit, but then I grew up. 

         The list gets real starting...now. Not that it was fake before. :o

5) Jaden Yuki (Yu-Gi-Oh! GX)

Anyone who has actually watched the entirety of GX might know why he’s here. His character development in the latter seasons so unreal and interesting. I’m not spoiling crap but there is a lot more to the character than meets the eye. Like a lot lot. Over the course of the series he loses his innocent eyes and his personality changes a lot...His character is probably one I can relate to in terms of the reasons for his actions, the way he gets down about himself, the way he acts in the final season...it hits me hard...he’s too dang relatable...just like..

4) Rean Schwarzer (Trails of Cold Steel)

Surprise surprise. Rean is here. -hears crickets- Guess you’re not surprised. I wonder why. I think I relate to this character more than anyone else on this list. Except number one. Number one is in his own league. Rean is a character who generally carries a happy disposition...he has a unique power but you can see he is actively scared of it. It’s something I actively deal with...he’s so scared of himself that he puts distance between family and friends. He never feels he’s good enough. He’s made headway through this, but...

One thing that’s extremely interesting about this character is his selflessness. You may think this is driven to the ground in character stereotypes but for Rean it’s different...his selfless has been described as abnormal by characters in game, and it’s not for positive reasons...Rean deals with some real unhealthy stuff. This is getting long.

As of this post Cold Steel 4 comes out in one month and I’m extremely worried for his character. If you’ve played 3 then you’ll know why. Also if you haven’t played the Trails series, go play it. No buts. Heck I’ll even buy the game(s) for you if I can.

Oh look we’re at the top three. I want to say that while numbers two and three here are pretty interchangeable, these characters have been in my top three for over a decade and a half and I don’t see this changing anytime soon. Rean I love you but you have your work cut out if you ever want to breach the top 3. I wanna post a few honorable mentions here. They didn’t get into Smash but they do get Mii Costumes at least! -shot-

Davis Motomiya (Digimon Adventure 02) 

This character was everything I was when I was a kid. The way he tries everything to woo Kari is too cute. Also his unwavering faith in Ken. Also Davis Cries Veemon.

9S (Nier Automata)

Not mentioning any spoilers. Just watch this character and see how his vision of the world changes over time.

Okabe Rintaro (Steins; Gate) 

Okabe’s shift from his ‘persona’ as things get real and his efforts to fix everything is too relatable for me ;_;

Yosuke Hanamura (Persona 4) 

No, I do not ship him with Yu. They’re great buddies for sure, and he’s pretty cool. Really likable character for me personally save for a few moments in the game...he’s also the main in the Arena games. “Let’s do this, Jiraiya!” He’s so cool lol.

                    Top 3 time. Fiercely dedicated to these guys.

3) Robin (Teen Titans Go! 2003)

Robin is such a raw character that carries his past and tries so hard to move from it yet it embodies him to his core. He has since gained a softer side from forming a team, and has been doing normal teenager stuff...which is good for him. However at times that Batman side impacts him so hard that he can only concentrate on his mission, and starts shutting out everyone and everything to do things himself. It actively gets in the way of his interactions. He deals a lot with moving on from failure and acknowledging his friends more, which he does get better at over time. He is also represented by the color red. My favorite color. He’s badass and yet carries so much crap. I connect to this character a lot even now. Third canon character I ever wrote for.

2 Lloyd Irving (Tales of Symphonia)

I love Lloyd. I love his voice, I love his attacks, I love his stupid double sword logic. He says wielding two swords makes him twice as powerful lol. I love his development. I love his idealism and how it matures over time. I love everything about Lloyd. It was legit love at first sight. I remember being 15-16 and seeing him on that Gamecube boxart and saying “I wanna play that guy” Most people I feel (guys in particular) probably looked up to certain characters growing up as a child/teen. Lloyd was mine.

1. Zidane Tribal (Final Fantasy IX)

While it was love at first sight for Lloyd, that was not the case for number one on this list. I was 13 when I first played FFIX. Zidane upon encountering him, I always thought he was a cool character, but he was nothing special.  Even at Zidane’s lowest point I thought he was an okay character at best. I had not finished the game.

Fast forward a few years and I decide to play FFIX again, this time determined to finish it. I had went through some things, grew up a bit before turning this game on. This damn bandit...I remember writing this bit years ago: “His infamous mantra labeled above describes him well, but under his ability to console others with a smile, to cheer people up and meet them at their point of need with his abundant optimism lies a blonde who masks his pain and keeps his issues to himself. Despite his many friends and buddies he harbors a deep loneliness that, like his problems, he keeps to himself. One would have to look carefully to notice his character flaws for Zidane does an impressive job of hiding these problems. Whether it be through his energy, his theatrics, or focusing on other people, Zidane can cover things up quite well.”

Zidane has an absurd amount of depth to his character that I was never able to comprehend as a kid, beneath his flirting, his playful attitude, he hides a lot of feelings, a lot of anger, a lot of sadness. It used to boggle me how he’s able to uphold his sense of virtue despite what goes on in his life and the end of disc 3 answers this for me. It goes without mentioning that this was the second canon character I’ve ever written for, and I still love writing him. I could and write walls of text about how Zidane is so amazing, a chivalrous thief, a lover and a flirt but I think I can let you go lol. Hit me up if you really want to hear me ramble about any these characters, also play FF9.

...So I wrote all of that and forgot to write about Zidane’s ship...have to give it its own paragraph because I love these two together and she does wonders for Zidane as a whole as does he to her. She’s a princess and he’s a thief, they take their time to show them together through different things, different ordeals...particularly the ordeals. Its interesting seeing them both at their worst moments and the many funny moments..Man, that boat scene gets me every time...If I ever write a top ten couples list this couple would no doubt be in the top two if not number one. And I’d probably write way more than this about them because they’re great. Also they’re canon. A healthy canon. Also Dagger’s hot. Oh wait wrong list.

most popular multichapter fic: sdkjflakjlkj it’s two crowned kings; and one that stood alone, which is a w359 fic i wrote back in late 2017. it’s literally the last fic i haven’t orphaned from when i actually wrote podcast fic (i have 4 other podcast fics but they were all borne out of nostalgia and written after i stopped participating in the fandom). i rewrote all but the last chapter? the last two? about a year ago and i fucked up halfway through so like chapter 6 and 7 are repeated and there’s something missing but i’m too lazy to fix it. no one’s going to read it now anyway :) it WAS the top minlace fic for a little while tho which i take great pride in.

favorite story you’ve written so far: oh that’s a hard question akfsldkfj i honestly like most of them!! and i write a LOT so there’s a lot to choose from. tonight, we are young is def one of my favorites- it was fun to write and i got to explore the ways zuko and yue r similar, which i LOVE to do outside of a zukka/yukka view. you can lean on my arm as you break my heart  is one that i’m really proud of? the whole “cooking as an expression of bato’s love” is definitely some of my favorites. a lot of my ace attorney fics would be categoried as my favorites if i hadn’t improved, too, if that makes sense. like they’re no long my favorites because i can see where my writing is shitty and it bothers me, but if i had written them a month ago they’d be my favorite.

fic you were nervous to post: figures 1-5: killing gods def!! it’s a lot more purple-prose-y than most of my fics and it was also written before i’d kinda like emersed myself in the atla fandom so i didn’t have as good a grasp on the general understanding of zuko’s character as i do now. tbh it’s one i’m rly happy w tho!! i have a few people leave really nice comments on it and rereading them makes me really happy. also it was the start of me hating the position of fire lord and being at least passively anti-it in my fics.

how you choose your titles: they’re almost all song lyrics!! only 14 of my 50 words AREN’T song lyrics and about half of those are from before i started writing ace attorney fic lol. sometimes i go into a fic with a song in mind for the vibes and then i usually go with lyrics from that (like in ‘cuz we’re the greatest /they’ll hang us in the louvre), but otherwise i usually pick an artist i’ve been listening to and go through their songs until i find a lyric that fits. sometimes the lyric doesn’t even really fit the fic and i just chose it at random or because i searching up the word “fly” in my spotify library or whatever. honestly i like coming up with titles? i know a lot of fic writers hate it but being able to just use song lyrics is v soothing for me and while i know that most people won’t search out a song just bc it’s a fic title like.. seeing that the title of a fic is a hozier lyric does affect how i read it and i kinda like that.

do you outline? i outline my long form/multichaptered fics with varying strictness. usually anything over ~8k will have some kind of outline. sometimes i go into it with every single scene planned out, sometimes it’s just notes on the side of the google doc that say “it's about MORE family. about how it's not betraying your existing family to find more” and “scenes i want to include: [...]” and “vampires... ngl kinda hot.” i’m trying to outline super strictly less bc i’ve found it’s less fun? but i do try to keep a plot arc in mind. since most of my fics are more character-driven than plot-driven, that usually just means keeping track of what character development i want to happen or what is motiviating the characters. 

complete: um everything posted on ao3 i guess. also the MULTITUDE of orphaned fics out there asksfjldkj i always click ‘leave my pseud on’ so if u look up my username you see all of my fics and then a. lot of other ones.

in progress: - a fic titled ‘dad phoenix’ that is actually just a no DL-6 au with defense attorney miles edgeworth and single dad bartender phoenix where neither of them want to date for A While but phoenix gets wrapped up in one of miles’s cases. it’s about family. it’s about writing teenagers. it’s about the background franmaya which is ALWAYS what i’m here for in wrightworth fics - a franmaya werewolf/vampire au because i’m ~gay~ and love rivals to lovers and also franziska and maya both being angry their older brothers r dating each other. - my secret santa fic!! which i can’t talk about much but it does feature toph and zuko and also piandao and jeong jeong???? idk where they came from but they are Part Of The Fic Now also i forgot iroh existed for half the fic and wrote piandao as zuko’s father figure and now i’m in too deep. - a 5+1 bakoda fic (maybe a bato/hakoda/kay fic??? i need to decide. that’s part of why this fic is still incomplete bc i can’t decide which relationship dynamic i prefer) that’s 5 times bato said he loves hakoda and one time hakoda said it back. possibly i have already written him saying i love u back and i need to change the title a little. - retail au klapollo where klavier works at an overpriced boutique and apollo comes in to buy earrings for nahyuta’s birthday. klavier gives him a punch card (one that the store doesn’t actually offer anymore as a bid to get apollo to come back) and all of apollo’s family come in to use the punch card and also give klavier variations on the shovel talk/find out if he’s actually into apollo. - a LOT of atla fics that i don’t think i’ll ever finish :(

coming soon/not yet started:  - i want to write some blackmadhi bc they’re.. cute..... and it’s a good excuse to also write athena and i love her - my stuff for yueki week!!! i have NOT prepped enough but hopefully i’ll remember in time! i wrote the prompts in a way that kinda set up stuff i’ve already wanted to write (don’t look at me lol) so hopefully i’ll get at least two or three fics finished in time. - i want to rewrite the wrightworth fic i have about them not getting married bc it was interesting and i like what i wrote about but i think i could have written it better and made it more interesting. rewriting fics is hard tho bc i’m never sure if it makes sense to just edit in the new work or to repost it? and then if u repost it do u delete the old one? conflicting so i might just not

upcoming work that you’re most excited about: oh huh i mean probably the no dl-6 au!!! it’s the longest ace attorney fic i’ve written already and since it’s wrightworth it’ll get more attention than any franmaya fic i write. my standards r so high now tho after getting to much feedback from atla fans... love u all... obviously i have no choice but to pressure my atla mutuals into playing ace attorney. pls ask abt it bc i WIll Give You A Sales Pitch about why you’d like it in relation to atla

Next up is Lesbian!Maya This one was definitely a challenge! I’ve drawn Maya a few times but I think this one is the best so far!

*deep breath* OH BOY! OH GOLLY AHH JEEZ Like DAMN was this a challenge. This took me an entire week!!! Other then Sebastian (because of that jacket) all of the pride requeswts have taken 3 days or less. During those 3 days I research an outfit, make a sketch, normally have a goofy side image to post before it because my brain is hyperactive, obsess over how to pose them and make the final image. Not this time!!! Even though this was an incredible struggle there was a lot that was learned by this… experience. 

So let’s break it down. 

Struggle #1 : Which flag are we using again? On the Ace Attorney Amino, the requester requested a Lesbian Maya. Here is the issue, in my research I have found a lot of lesbian pride flags and narrowed it down to 2. The lesbian pride flag which is  purple one with the black triangle and the battle axe (which was used) and lipstick lesbian, which is this pink one (see above). Now this bodes the question : What’s the difference? Well as far as I can tell, The purple one came first and is generally an umbrella flag for lesbians, while the pink one was made spicifically for a lesbian subculture : lipstick lesbians. There is a stereotype that lesbians are “masculine”, lipstick lesbians are very comfortable with their femininity, in fact very “girly” and seemed to be underrepresented sooooooo they have their own flag and subculture, kinda like the opposite of gay bear that we covered last time.  It seems like the Pink flag overtook the purple one in popularity OR whoever made the pink one was just better at marketing, who knows. Now the requested went with “a regular lesbian” so battle ax flag it is. Also battle axes are cool, so there’s that.  

Lesson learned : the LGBTQ+ community is waaaaaaay bigger then I thought with subcultures and whatnot. Knowlage is half the battle! 

Struggle #2 : Fashion is hard guys.  Picking the outfit took at least 2 days, and then I changed it at least a half dozen times. there are 3 issues I had (lists within lists, listception) : Maya’s limited style,  using the colour pallette with my messed up, self-restricted viewpoint, and Maya’s age. First Item, off the top of my head, I believe Maya is only seen in 5 outfits, her usual outfit, iris outfit for a moment, a waitress outfit for an hour, a red dress in that one promotional image where the case is super fancy, a white suit outfit thing for soundtrack stuff and a conductor uniform??? Out of the ones I can rememer, mostof thesse are dresses. When debating on weather or not I should put her in a dress I decided no because (as far as I can remember) she’s always ion a dress. and then my brain went nuts with questions.

Why is she always in a dress? is that sexist? It is a problem? What’s wrong with with her always being in a dress? Why do I want to really get her out of a dress? Am I sexist? why do only women were dresses? Is it the hips? Why don”t men wear dresses? Can they? They don’t really have hips so they can’t really wear skirts. Wait a minute men do kinda wear dresses, I mean kilts and kimono’s exist. would the bulge be an issue? Would men emphasize their bulge like women emphasize their breasts? Can men look good in dresses? Can any man look good in a dress? Can I put Edgeworth in a dress and make him look good? I’ve seen a ton of Phoenix in dresses but why not Edgey? … So yeah a lot of useless questions taking up my time for no reason. The point is I purposely designed an outfit with pants … this obviously did not happen. I had this idea of a cozy look in a cute sweater but this leads to the next issue. The issue with this cozy look? It’s too simple.Yes that look is cute but it’s not for me, it’s for the person who requested it. Any it’s entirely possible that this person may have seen the other works from this pride project and the outfits I made for them and then they just get Maya in a sweater? It’s a cute sweater but it didn’t seem fair. A similar issue happened with Phoenix but the solution to that was just to open his shirt and BOOM, extra layers and thus a more complex look. Now maybe the the OG requester wouldn’t mind but I just couldn’t do it, I feel like I needed to give her an outfit with more effort into it. And thuys Maya went back into skirt, now this lead to the third issue : Maya’s age. I found a lot of nice outfits, outfits that would look great on Maya! … When she was a teenager. Now maya is most definitely a full grown women and not a child. Now weather or not I pulled off the 28 year old Maya will be discussed later but nonetheless, all of those cute outfits I found? Out the window. I was so indecisive that I just asked my brother to pick one. Honestly? I really liked what he picked, and I confirmed with my dad that, yes, you can put this outfit on a almost 30 year old. The scarf ended up being omitted in favour of her magatama, otherwise we ended up with the same problem as before, it’s too simple. this time with a few days of work under our belt so there was no way I was going to start over. The solution to this was a nice floral pattern based on a cherry blossom. this makes it more visually simple. I think it looks pretty! After all that work I do like the end result. 

Lesson learned : Stop. Over. Thinking. Things. And for the love of god sketch it out. Just looking on google and imagining on the character  sometimes will not cut it. If I don’t get it relatively quickly, doodle, draw and scribble some more.  

Struggle #3 : Why can’t I draw women?? I am one?!?! Like seriously, why, it makes no sense. Well actually it does make sense because I am fairly sure I can count the amount of women I’ve drawn with one hand. It’s a simple measure of practice. I was foolish to think that simply drawing human’s would be enough. sadly that is not the case. Men and women are built differently and of course I failed to accommodate… many many times. The amount of times I have modified maya and changed her proportions is unreal. One thing I do all the time is make the abdomen too long and I have no idea why this is. Her face! I have no cluw what went wrong the first dozen times but it just didn’t work! I wish I could explain why but it just didn’t look right. you”ll notice that she doesn’t have lips even though she does in her new design, It’s because I have never been able to draw lips. Ever. Not once. Does she even look like an adult? I can’t even tell anymore. She is a little thicker then her concept art but making her look thinner just didn’t work out. Her arms, I had to hid them since the preportions were all off, the hands were held together in front of her checkl and they were too lanky and there was nothing I could do to make it look good and don’t get me started on her hands please don’t. If I didn’t cut off her legs I would have issues with that too. Her breasts, how on earth do you shade those??? Does not compute. DOES NOT COMPUTE!!!  So yeah the struggle is real. The solution? Trial and error. Just keep trying until it looks good. Play with your strengths. A friend of mine told me that she reminder her of Tina from Bob’s Burgers… ok? Sure. So after all that while I do like the end result I also see what can be improved, and sadly we have reached the limits of my skill at this time. 

Lessons learned : Practice practice practice. I don’t draw enough women, I need to draw more women. I can’t quite comprehend how cloths fall on the chest area and obviously looking the mirror is not a solution. What is the solution? Drawing naked people. … No seriously. Once I learn proper anatomy and human proportions and how muscles distribute over the body not only will I have a lot easier time drawing these characters I will also be able to figure out how clothing would fall on their bodies and i’ll have a easier time shading. Right now I’m drawing and shading clothing without knowing WHY it’s folding like that or why the light is hitting this area. Of course I’ll be doing this for both men and women because as started before, they are built differently. do you know what I also can’t draw? Children. I am NOT applying this to the kiddies. That’s weird and gross. The kids will have t deal with being freaks. I’m cool with that.

Struggle #04 :  Life How did we break 3 fuses at my house while I was at work? Why did it effect half my room upstairs, the computer setup that is downstairs and the WiFi on the main floor when the thing used to blow the fuse was in an upstairs room across the hall. why did no one fix it until the next day? Why just leave it like that? Why did I sleep in until 1 when I’ve been consistently waking up at 9? I had things to do what gives? Why did I accept a split shift the next day when I’m exhausted? Why do I get super stressed out when I set an alarm that I can’t sleep? Why am I spending 3 hours writing this when I never bothered to put this much effort in school work? How have I not punched someone yet?

Lessons learned : Don’t rely on anyone but yourself. Do what you can with the time allowed. Pat yourself on the back for not resorting to violence. How to change fuses. Writing this is very therapeutic.  Did you last this long? Who knows! All I do know is that yes this was a struggle but I plan on learning from this. Next up is Gay!Klaver and I’m REALLY looking forward to it!

So I got tagged by @jurina-holic in relation to a post on a series of questions for fanfiction writers and I have to say, I am honoured to be tagged x’D Though I kinda doubt these would be satisfactory answers, I tried :P

6. how did writing change you?

Well this is one of, if not, the most personal question in the list to me but I definitely don’t mind sharing about it. Tying it in somewhat with Q.5 since how long do you write, I’ve been writing stories (well, on and off now) since I was 11/12 years old. Prior to that, all I’ve done was draw and game and... game. Definitely not the most productive of hobbies in terms of building my character. 

I mainly started writing with my best friend when we decided to make a ‘sequel’ of sorts for the Cardcaptor Sakura series one day while chatting on MSN (ho ho, I’m showing my age?) back then so those were fun times. It started off as just random role-playing, then all of a sudden, we were both so engaged in figuring out how the plot-line should be from then on.

And bam! That was pretty much the start of my writing career. I wanted to see how far my creativity could take me, especially when I was still so fresh at this and ideas just kept appearing in my head. It was an amazing feeling, and it was all thanks to just a sudden random role-play with my best friend.

Since then, I’ve decided to write my own stories (own OCs, plot yadda yadda) which were discontinued due to the lack of direction I wanted to go with it, then I moved onto the writing platform-- Fanfiction.net, posting fanfics on popular series such as Persona 3 and K-ON!. My first FF.net fanfic was a discontinued Ace Attorney (Gyakuten Saiban) fanfic for the pair Miles Edgeworth and Mia Fey though. Which also brings me smoothly to my next point: my career path.

I loved writing so much (and heck throw in English as a subject at this point) that I decided to do something related to using words as a form of art. My parents ‘recommended’ me to get into law, and so I did. Of course I won’t lie, I dread the whole course and I’ll always remember my experiences as a law student to be one of ‘hell on earth’. (Yes I am still a bar student at this time of writing this post.)

Despite loads of shortcomings throughout my writing career during this time (started to feel a huge distaste when it came to writing, hated reading, creativity disappeared, lack of time to do anything fun at all), deep down, I still love this hobby of mine. My parents were also proud of me, having such a productive hobby (of course I never let them know what I wrote exactly though *cough cough*).

Well to put it short, writing has given me a chance to develop my creativity further (other than doing art, which I’m still crappy at tbvh), keeps me productive and wanting to strive for perfection one day whenever that eureka moment comes to me haha.

14. easiest character to write

Without a doubt-- Matsui Jurina. 

Okay so... I got into the 48G writing community because of WMatsui, and I actually started writing proper because of how fun it was to write for the pair. But the thing about Jurina that breaks her away from her counterpart is that she’s very........... ‘protagonist’-y in my opinion.

Throw her in any plot and she gives off this “I can be a protagonist if I wanted to” feeling, even if she’s written as a sub-character. I dunno, I relate her thoughts and motivations to the typical shounen series main protagonist, and I have a feeling I’m not the only one who has ever said this too (someone in the 48G said this about Jurina I’m sure of it). 

So she basically has this particular ‘mold’ in my head and I’ll just make do with that sample for a majority of the stories I write with her in it. She’s basically a ‘character’ I can bend around and throw into the fire but she would still come out strong, achieving the results I want in the end x’D

Also, you can ship her with pretty much anyone and it’ll still seem natural. :v

30. hardest part of writing

Definitely the planning process. I USUALLY wing it and the end product would be satisfactory... however, that applies mainly to the one-shots I’ve written.

As such, I have serious issues with multi-chaptered fanfiction, especially in the directions department. Sure I do somewhat plan in advance what should or should not happen in each chapter but a part of me would think like I’m writing too much unnecessary details and/or I have no idea how I to word a certain scene etc. that I end up staying at the drawing board for a long long time which results in me giving up after a while.

Using an ongoing fanfiction for the 48G I kinda sorta stopped writing as an example, I wrote that one purely on a whim. It had no direction whatsoever the moment I posted it on a certain 48G fanfiction thread. However gradually all the ideas flowed and worked in my HEAD, but it could never be translated into proper words for my readers to consume. Oh and procrastination. 

Also another issue is motivation, especially if my fanfic is very ship-centric. If it’s a multi-chaptered fanfiction I’m doing, and I stop, and Ii want to get back into it but all the ships I’ve used in it are ships I’ve either lost interest in or is just very “meh” about... that really affects my attitude in writing ^^;

45. share the synopsis of a story you work on that you haven’t published yet

I don’t have an actual synopsis of it buuuut I can roughly talk about it. It’s basically a reworked fanfic which was supposed to feature Oshima Yuko, Takahashi Minami and Matsui Rena as the main trio BUUUT I changed it to Yamamoto Sayaka, Yokoyama Yui and Miyawaki Sakura (a.k.a. Hantannee) as the new main trio :v Just to fit my current tastes okay? *shot’d*

Anyways, the story’s something like this.

Yamamoto Sayaka, Yokoyama Yui and Miyawaki Sakura are a band of Phantom Thieves ‘terrorising’ the major cities of Japan. However, they don’t steal just for the sake of it. They steal precious artefacts under a strict contract for an organisation-- a contract that would hopefully lead to answers regarding the disappearance of Sayaka and Yui’s caretaker, their ‘father’, who took them in when they were left to die on the streets as children. 

On the other side, there is the genius Interpol agent Matsui Jurina, who has a track record of 100% so far in terms of criminal capture rate. On orders from the higher ups, she had just got posted with her fiancee, Matsui Rena, at a police branch in the region which the Phantom Thieves frequented. Jurina is more of a lone wolf agent who would rather not bother with team work, to the dismay of the police chief-- (Okada Nana/Shiroma Miru -- unconfirmed atm).

Will the Phantom Thieves be captured before they find out the truth? Find out ne--

So, I’ve been into this series for a little over 12 years at this point, and needless to say, it was literally my childhood.  When I turned seven years old, I got my first gaming system -a PlayStation 2- and the first video game I ever owned, Jak 3.

So I fell in love with the game, and I of course sought to own, and play, the whole series (when I was first playing the games, I played the third, fourth, first, and then the second game, in that order).  When I was about nine some things went down that caused me, along with my brothers, to have to move out of state to live with our grandparents, thus forcing me to leave my PS2 behind.

So for about eight years I've been waiting to play the games again, and of course, I lost my mind when I heard that they were being ported to the PS4.  They're literally the only reason I bought a PS4 to begin with! I've played all the games in the series except for Daxter and The Lost Frontier (the latter of which I'd only found out about last December, thanks to Wikipedia), but weirdly enough I couldn’t remember much of anything about the games after a year or two of not playing them (until I started playing them again in December 2017, of course!).

Currently, I’ve completed the whole trilogy, as well as X.  I'm more than open to discuss any of the three, so feel free to chat with me about them!

Sly Cooper Shitposts

Bio:

I got into the Sly series somewhat recently (July 3, 2018).  Since then, it’s been one of my favorite series, and one of the only series I play.  I don’t really have much else to add here, other than this: if you’ve never played these games, either play them or watch a let’s play (play them if you can though).  The entire trilogy can be found on Playstation Now if you have a PS4 and don’t want to hunt down a PS2 and all the games just to play them.

Like the Sly games, I got into this series pretty recently (March 26, 2018).  At the time I was looking to try out some PS2-era franchises similar to the Jak and Daxter series, which is why I initially tried these games out.  My first R&C game I played was the 2016 reboot, and while the humor, characters and all that weren’t the best, it was really fun to play and got me wanting to play the older games.  After a couple months or so I played some of the earlier games on PSN (Quest for Booty, Crack in Time, and Into the Nexus) and enjoyed them a LOT more than the reboot overall (mostly CiT though, since although I played QfB I didn’t especially care about it, and I enjoyed the intro for ItN a lot but got bored with it).

I’ve known about Hamilton since mid-2016 (thanks to a former friend of mine), but I actually kind of hated it for a while, because of said friend (let’s just say that she constantly shoved Hamilton content in my face without properly introducing me to the musical first).

It wasn’t until last December (December 2017) that I finally got interested in the musical.  My brother who lives out-of-state was visiting for the holidays, and he literally blasted Alexander Hamilton and Non-Stop in the house several times during his stay.  After listening to them a few times I actually really liked them (especially Non-Stop), so when I got some free time (sometime on 1/14/18, since of course I still remember the exact day I got into Hamilton), I decided to listen to the whole musical, and I loved it.

Now pretty much all I listen to is Hamilton.  I know I’m going to say this at the end of all these other bios, but seriously, if you want to talk to me about Hamilton, message me.

So to start off, I thought I’d just say that I’ve only ever watched the films, but I have read a tiny bit of the comics as well.

I got into the franchise in early June last year (2017) when I saw Guardians 2 with a friend, and let me tell you, I really wanted to see it, despite not caring about the series at all.  If I didn't care about the series at the time, why did I want to see the movie so badly?  Well, let's just say that I only wanted to see it for that sweet, sweet "plot" if you know what I mean. 👀   I also just needed something to distract me at the time, since I had been going through some really difficult stuff around that time (I plan on making a post about what happened at some point, so if I do, then you’ll be able to find it here).  Once it was over I fell in love with the characters, and the franchise overall, since the second film had not only far exceeded my expectations, but it also helped me cope with the bad stuff that had happened to me not too long before.

I’ve been into this series for about two... actually, almost three years now! (where has all that time gone?).

My brother actually got me into this series!  I watched him play Rise From the Ashes one night (I think it was somewhere around March 2015), and I was kind of interested in trying it out after that (although I kept my mouth shut about wanting to try it, since I was really self-conscious about trying new things at the time).

I didn’t get to actually play Ace Attorney until mid-June that year, when my brother one day shoved his 3DS in my hands, telling me to play First Turnabout.  After playing through the whole case, I got obsessed, and I was also really excited, since he was going to buy the trilogy for me on our Wii (he didn’t live with us, so he couldn’t let me play the games on his DS).  I didn’t officially get into the series until July 2nd that year, which is when I started playing the trilogy on our Wii.

I completed the first game in three days, and I was obsessed with Ace Attorney for about a year and a half after that (I think that’s the longest that any obsession of mine has ever been my, “Main Obsession”).  I also had a huge overblown crush on Phoenix most of that time (which is surprising in hindsight, since I couldn’t care less about him anymore).

I’m now just a casual fan of the series, and I’m down to discuss Spirit of Justice any time (since it’s my favorite game in the series), but I don’t really care to discuss the others (not usually, anyways).  So anyways, thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy my blog!

I’ve been into Pokémon for as long as I can remember.  I know that I’ve been into it for at least 13 years, but I feel like I’ve liked it for much longer.

I didn’t start to really obsess over it until the age of 11, after getting Explorers of Sky for my birthday (one of the Mystery Dungeon games).  Once Gen. 5 had started, I only got more into Pokémon.  I mostly collected the cards, but I did also play a lot of Rumble Blast.  And let me just say, I was honestly so into the TCG, that it was kind of unhealthy.

I lost interest in the franchise for a little over a year, starting at the age of 13 (thanks to My Little Pony), but once I stopped liking MLP, I just went right back to obsessing over Pokémon, but with a bit less emphasis on the cards, and more on the games (Who am I kidding?  I was still immersed in the TCG world at this time!  Just, not quite as much as before).

After about a year of being addicted to Pokémon (again), I started to become more of a casual fan of the series, turning my interest towards other things (i.e., Ace Attorney and Steven Universe).

It wasn’t until I started playing Sun (a month after it released) that I started obsessing over the franchise (for the third time).  I became a casual fan again soon after finishing the game, which was somewhere in early March of 2017.

Currently, I’m just a casual fan of the series (aside from my several characters, who I’ve had around for three years at this point).  I can’t really suggest you trying to discuss Pokémon with me, since I am just a casual fan nowadays (Unless if you want to know about my characters I mentioned!).  Thanks for reading!

2017 in review

What did you do in 2017 that you’d never done before?

I took a plane by myself. I’ve been on one before but always with someone just following what they do. This year I did the entire thing by myself, got myself there, printed my ticket, went through security, boarded the plane. It was intimidating but validating.

Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I didn’t really make any concrete resolutions that I remember. I’m always in a state of “you should do better”. 

Did anyone close to you give birth? Nah.

Did anyone close to you die? No.

What countries did you visit? None this year. I went to Oregon though.

What would you like to have in 2018 that you lacked in 2017? For the love of god a car please god a car. A certificate in Web and Mobile Development. A new job. A doctor and maybe a therapist? My mental health could really use some work. A Cintiq? 

What dates from 2017 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? I’m hilariously bad at remembering dates. The only things that come to mind are April 1st which was when I uploaded TRNDSTTR ,  and November 6, which was my first day starting my technical course in web and mobile development. Oh yeah also july 24th when my sister and I got t-boned on our way back from our parents

What was your biggest achievement of the year? damn uh. See above? navigated airport and started technical college I guess.  

What was your biggest failure? I’ve really let my dental health go this year. I’ve always been kinda bad at brushing my teeth but this year its been wore than usual and I know I have a lot of work upcoming that I feel really shitty about. I know it’s going to cost a lot. 

Did you suffer illness or injury? tooth got infected and had to get a root canal. the temp cap they put on was too tight and caused a lot of pain for a while

What was the best thing you bought? My character Zephon was designed by and purchased from a good friend of mine and I love him a LOT. 

Whose behavior merited celebration? Might be kinda silly but the entirety of Polygon following what happened with Nick. I had just come from a fandom where the content creators handled an eerily kind of situation so poorly that the majority of the fans packed up and moved to other things. It was such a relief to see it handled how it was. 

Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? The aforementioned youtuber, and Honestly??? The entire country. Everything’s been so unbelievably surreal and awful. 

Where did most of your money go? besides general living expenses, I’ve spent a lot on art commissions and I don’t regret it. Just look at this gorgeous piece

What did you get really, really, really excited about? Holy shit Ace Attorney. I finally played through the original trilogy and have worked my way up through dual destinies and I’m so in love. I didn’t expect to fall this hard but I have. 

What song will always remind you of 2017? SIAMÉS - "The Wolf" because of it’s beautiful video

Compared to this time last year, are you: (a) happier or sadder? (b) thinner or fatter? (c ) richer or poorer? same as it ever was, fatter, richer by a little

What do you wish you’d done more of? exercised and animated. 

What do you wish you’d done less of? nothing. As in I spent a lot of time dissociating on my bed doing nothing instead of getting shit done.

How did you spend Christmas? I stayed at my parents for the majority of the day hanging with my family. It was nice to spend time with them without worrying about when I needed to go to work.

Did you fall in love in 2017? Only with Ace Attorney. I don’t really have any romantic inclinations and I’m ok with that. 

What was your favorite TV program? I don’t really watch a lot of TV. Not even Netflix. Steven Universe is always great, and 

Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? Hate is a strong word. there are people I dislike but it’s against a fundamental part of my personality to hate people. I’m too 

What was the best book you read? The only literature I’ve read was fanfiction. It’s kind of really sad. I have a lot of good books to read, but I always feel guilty and overwhelmed sitting down with a book. 

What was your greatest musical discovery? I’ve really enjoyed Mother Mother and their music this year, and I’ve reintroduced myself to U2 and Collective Soul, which were two bands i grew up on and bring a sense of home and nostalgia whenever I listen to them.  

What did you want and get? My aunt was super generous and gifted me the funds to purchase TV Paint, which is a hardy animation program

What did you want and not get? A car, but no surprise there. 

What was your favorite film of this year? There weren’t really a lot of movies I liked this year. Wonder Woman was nice

What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I turned 20 this year. I didn’t have anything major planned, I went out of town with my mom and little sister and had a good time, and came back to a surprise party with my friends. 

What one thing made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

Not being dependent on my parents. I technically moved out in 2016, but spending the entire year not dependent or beholden to them was a huge relief 

How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2017? 1. Is it clean? Wear it. 

2. Overwatch. I own way to many varieties of Overwatch apparel and I always end up wearing at least one of them. 

What kept you sane? My friends, internet and IRL, my relatives who have been super supportive of me, music, and my cat Kuvira who I love more than anything in the world.

Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? I don’t really get celebrity crushes. I’m kind of aromantic. I really resonate with Travis McElroy though, for a lot of silly reasons. I’m a middle child too and I relate to a lot of aspects of his personality and feelings towards things and he’s just a really genuine and lovely person.  

Who did you miss? I’ve lost contact with a lot of old friends over time, and I’ve found myself really missing them this year. 

Who was the best new person you met? I became acquainted with Knyuo , who’s a brilliant artist and a super nice person 

Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2017. 1. Be careful burning bridges, because once the deed is done you can never cross them again. No matter how angry you get, it’s worth it to be the civil one.

Summary: He meets her at a book signing, only learning her first name, the fact that she likes Alice in Wonderland, and that she thinks his art is beautiful, and for all he knows (as Nick points out) he’ll never see her after that.

Notes: Set post-AAI2. Canon divergence AU in that Phoenix never loses his badge, but does still end up with Trucy.

The first time they met, it was while he was signing his latest masterpiece. Drawing children's books had its good points, given he had - somehow! - been able to find an area that was his, the way lawyering was for Nick and Edgy, but it also meant that most of the people he was selling them to were, well, kids, and although he met so many beautiful, lovely ladies on days like these, it was an inevitable fact of life that they were, nine times out of ten, mothers, or even grandmothers.

So he'd charm them, and he'd be friendly with the kids, the ones who'd pointed at his books and pestered their parents to get them, his books, and life was... well, it was okay.

And then there she was, looking kind of mousy and holding a copy of The Magic Thinking Clock in both hands, clutched tightly against her chest. 

He would always remember the way he'd smiled up at her from the table he was sat at. The way his wrist had kind of ached from how many signatures and messages he'd already had to do. The way his mouth was kind of dry from all the talking, even with a half finished plastic cup of water on the table behind him, safely away from the precious books.

"And who am I addressing this one to?"

"Um," she'd said, her cheeks gaining a dusting of a pink blush, "me. It's mine - I, I really like your books. I think they're beautiful. Oh! Allie. I mean, Alice. Like in Alice in Wonderland."

She held the book out to him, and he opened at the title page.

He had to be reminded by his PR aide that there was someone else in the line, and although he was disappointed that he couldn't just start ambling after her - asking which bits she liked best, how she found her first one, if she liked him -it was hard to feel annoyed for too long when the kids' faces looked up at him in awe, one after the other.

See, he felt like it was all saying, I can do this. I can hold down a job. And I can be important.

It'd become a habit of his that after a signing, once he'd got back home and had a chance to unwind, he'd take out his sketchbook and open at an unused page, and he'd start to draw from memory some of his favourite faces from the day.

Sometimes, they ended up making their way into his books as completely new characters. The princesses and ladies of The Dress Made For Fighting In that Maya had inspired by reminding him how popular the Pink Princess was, had almost entirely come from the sketches of beauties and the many, many excited little girls he'd come across. Sometimes, he remembered the way Maya's face had lit up when he'd given her a free copy (Nick and Edgy would have to pay for theirs - the discount was limited, of course) and he fancied that she liked the way he'd used her as inspiration even better than that other one.

Tonight, as he was half a page in, he already started to notice that one particular person was showing up a lot. Circles became faces, lines where eyes and noses and mouths would be, and again, it was her.

Allie.

"I'm in love," he sighs, and it's only completely rational, because she's all that he's been able to think of in the past week. "She's the one, Nick. She's my Cinderella. But I didn't even get her shoe."

"Stop being melodramatic, Larry. You met her once. At a signing. You're probably never going to see her again."

He stares at Nick for a good long minute or so, eyes widening and starting to water at the realisation that what one of his best friends has just told him is undeniably true.

He's never going to see her again. He only knows her first name.

She might not even live in this state.

Larry groans, and collapses onto the table in front of him, and no, he is not being melodramatic, because his life is over.

"Larry. That's - oh, com on. Up. I swear, dealing with you is harder than dealing with Trucy - at least she tries acting mature."

"My life is over," he says, voice muffled by the table. He's lucky he's waited until they'd finished their food, or he'd have faceplanted into burgers, chips and sauce. "My true love is lost, and I'm being compared to a nine year old."

He can hear Nick groaning above him, and it doesn't help. Doesn't he understand how serious this is? Because it is. Very serious. 

"I'm going, Larry."

He instantly sits up, tears still streaming from his eyes. 

"You're leaving me! When I need you the most!"

"Well, yes - I need to pick Trucy up from school, remember? And I have a meeting with a client right after that. So I really do have to get going."

He watches as Nick gets up and goes. And then, he stares at the now mostly empty table again. And lets his head fall back onto it in a controlled descent.

...

He sees her again when he goes to get coffee down at Gourd Lake two weeks later, and he thinks - after he's done with being giddy with the fact that he's met her again, his life has meaning again - that he's going to be able to tell Nick he was wrong for once.

They start to talk, and of course the first thing he asks is about her, about if she came here often, and what she does for a living - she works in a coffee shop! He could have bumped into her in any of them, and not known it - and then they're talking about him, and how she's sure she'd heard his name before she knew about his books, and he tells her, some parts embarrassment and some parts pride, that he'd been around a bit before finding his calling.

He ends up telling her about having been involved in criminal cases in the past, always by accident, although he leaves out anything to do with Cindy, dancing around the subject of her like an expert, hardly even knowing he was doing it, but unable to avoid certain other facts.

"Wait," she says at one point, "you mean to say you made that?"

He's ready to have to defend himself, because he's had to every other time, even though he can still remember Cindy telling him how amazing it was, that she'd take it with her anywhere-

(and how she had, even when she wouldn't have if she hadn't loved him at least a it)

-but he's hardly opened his mouth before she's talking again.

"I didn't know you were were so creative," she's saying. "A clock like that sounds really ingenious."

And he's encouraged, and the next thing he knows, he's sharing stories about how for a while he made ends meet by playing parts in stage productions, which inevitably included how he'd once helped save Edgy's butt in one of his cases, and they're both laughing, but god help him - when she laughs, it's like the whole world lights up.

...

He starts sketching out ideas at her coffee shop. Or rather, the coffee shop she works at, because it's not like she owns it, but to him, she might as well.

He'll there for hours, in one of their plush chairs, pad and pencils out and watching her as she works, and sketching ideas for his next book, and sketching her.

It's not even as though they can complain, since he buys coffee and a muffin every so often, and she doesn't mind - she comes over and talks to him when she goes on break, and sometimes they go out, usually just on a walk around the block to get away from her workplace and complain about her colleagues out of earshot, sometimes to the park, where it's away from the bustle of the city a bit, and away from angry and outright weird customers.

...

He introduces her to Nick one day when she's finished her shift, and they're walking down a familiar road as they're talking about ideas for his next book, and he realises that they aren't that far away from where his office is.

Allie is excited to meet another third of his trio of friends, though part of him is nervous about the idea - the last few times Nick has been involved with any of his girlfriends, or potential girlfriends, things have gone badly. Bad with a capital B. 

When he knocks and then lets himself in, he's kind of surprised to find someone else in there that he recognises.

"Wow, Nick! I didn't know you and Justine knew each other already!"

The judge rises from the couch, with Nick not far behind her, and Larry can already see him wondering who Allie is.

"Miles introduced us," Justine says with a serene smile. "When he understood that I might be able to give Phoenix here some unique insight into the world of being a single parent. Although, there are still many things that both of us are still learning."

When she's gone, Nick turns back to the both of them, though Larry has to admit, it's weird without Maya making as much noise as she always did around the place. It's quiet. And doesn't smell nearly as much of burgers or salty noodles.

"I'm guessing this isn't a client," Nick says dryly. 

"Nope! Allie, meet Nick! Nick, this is Allie, my girlfriend!"

Allie holds her hand out shyly, and Nick - glancing at him before he turns his attention back onto her, like he's confused why she's with him or something - takes it and shakes. 

A few minutes later, and they're sat on the couches, talking. Nick's surprised when Allie mentions where she works, probably used to Larry singing the praises of model after model, but then he also mentions offhand how he'd not really gone to coffee shops much since he was usually being dragged around by Maya. Then they're all talking about what they'd end up doing if they weren't in what they were doing - Allie started that one, by saying how she'd never really seen herself as ending up waiting tables all the time - and they ended up telling Nick's story of how he'd started out in the arts department but switched to law, and halfway through that she reveals that she'd wanted to design stage costumes at one point, which reminds him and Nick of their time in the drama club, putting on performances.

"She seems like a nice girl," Nick says, a few days later. "I don't know how you convinced her you're all she thinks you are, but-"

"Convinced?! She came up with all that on her own! Before we even met, remember?"

"I'm just saying. I hope things actually work out for once, Larry."

He's taken aback for a moment, because in all seriousness, he hadn't really expected that. So he gives Nick a grin, and scratches at the back of his head, looking away.

"Haha... yeah. Me too, y'know?"

...

She catches him sketching during work again, and asks him what he's working on.

"It's my version of Cinderella," he says, tongue stuck out as his pencils work on making the lines and colours on the page match what he can see in his mind, like Elise Deauxnim - Maya's mom, he remembers soberly, Misty Fey, but he remembers her as Elise - taught him. There's love in those lines. "I'm thinking that might be my next book."

Allie peers down over his shoulder to take a closer look, and she gasps, lightly, making him pause, because he loves it when he can surprise her with things, and what makes it even better is that he doesn't even have to pay for that little sound she made. 

"It's beautiful," she says. "But - isn't that-? Is that me?"

The princess in his picture is in her ballgown, running down the stairs, a copy of Alice in Wonderland in her arms and one glass slipper left behind. He'd worked hard to get her skin to match properly with Allie's warm brown tones, and the hair to have the right amount of frizz.

"I based it off one of the designs you showed me the other day," he says happily, basking in the way she was still staring at his mostly finished picture, letting his over-long sleeve flop from side to side. "You know, the one you came up with!"

A few months later, he takes a new book from a little girl, staring up at him with wide eyes, and opens it up to the title page to sign - and as he does so, he flicks past the dedication, and smiles even wider.

For Allie, it read, who everyone agrees is my very own Cinderella.
