rai's overall characteristics, and how they were revived
BEWARE!!!! this is just a long ass post with an infodump about my oc
rai is a wildcard for the empire of might, the kingdom of science and the american colony as they act in ways people around them work the way it benefits them in the long run without them having to interfere much.
they are open to talk and support any side as long as their life (or a loved one's) isnt the price- if a group aids them for a short amount of time, they will backstab them after they get what they wanted.
i like to think rai was one of the earliest persons revived in the empire of might, maybe around the same time as gen or not so long after minami; they were the one with the idea of reviving hyoga, who they knew in the modern world and it was someone who they thought it would be beneficial to have around -not exactly for the empire of might, but for them, personally
when revived, minami described rai as someone perceptive and intelligent, an individual with great agility. tsukasa trusted them to a certain degree, and could've became his right hand instead of hyoga, if it wasn't for their lack of talking when it came to important discussions within the empire, and how they became secluded from it
they initially shared hyoga's vision of a new world and helped him with pulling some strings from the shadows as they tend to be cautious with the things they do. later on as they realized how things could easily go south in their postion, and they started to test the ground "joining" the kingdom of science around the same time as ukyo; only as a two-sided coin, since they kept their loyalty to hyoga intact, to an extent.
they helped hyoga in his plan to get rid of tsukasa, only to watch him lose to that guy and senku from the distance. they wouldve replaced kohaku in stopping homura from helping hyoga, with some corny ahh line like "men should be able to protect themselves" and then apologizing to homura for catching her.
rai's involvement in hyoga's plan was never known by the kingdom of science until later on, with them slipping up as the perseus made its way to america whoopsies
Tumblr media
they liked their position in the empire of might as they were considered to be in the same level as tsukasa, hyoga and ukyo.
however, they disliked the attention they were getting from it and they drifted apart from being constantly present within the tower to lurking and patrolling in the forest, pretty much like homura.
this also helped them to find some nice spots for training with their whip, as they were uncertain their abilities were still fresh after being.. 3000+ years petrified. during winter they managed to get food for the empire and were praised for their knowledge in wildlife- something they know a lot about thanks to being raised in farms and rural areas
when it comes to strength, they mostly depend on their whip. they are not as strong as tsukasa althrough they can punch and kick things really hard and deal some great damage from their hits due to their muscles; but again, they are not trained in that and therefore they dont know how to properly defend themselves in 1v1 combats (at least before the america arc)

Weekly Roundup: Prompts (I fucked up but that's like from one week ago)
Tsukihime
Diferent Anon than the current Tsukihime petplay one, I offer the oppisite: Arcuied puts Ciel down like old yeller, is delighted that she can old yeller her over and over again.
Arcueid is convinced she's a kitty girl and thus gets deeply offended when every "what animal are you" quiz she takes tells her she's a golden retriever (which she is)
Arcueid becoming Neco Arc played completely straight as some sort of horrofic Jekyll and Hyde style transformation.
Kohaku starts a recruitment drive for new maids for the mansion, and everyone (regardles of gender or even species) in Misaki Town finds themselves drafted - whether they like it or not
Fate/Zero
Waver gets a break for once
Fate/Extra
Smut, Someone attempts to hack BB, but the super AI is far too above such petty human tricks. She definitely resisted all the attempts to change her personality and her perception of normal, as you can tell by the fact that her panties have massive dildos spreading her vagina and her ass at any and all times, just like she definitely always has and didn't suddenly start doing the day of the for sure failed hacking attempt. She's also definitely always loved having her face fucked by men and women and enbies alike, as is perfectly normal. Her face is meant to pleasure anyone and everyone who wants her to! Gosh, that's just logic. It's why she has a mouth and throat and tongue in the first place!
Smut, Mostly I just have a hypnosis kink and enjoy the idea that a machine can only do what it's programmed to do, regardless of what it was programmed to do yesterday. Anyway BB gets a software update and "remembers" that it's polite for her to eat her Master out every day, especially because her Master for sure didn't make her think that was normal, because it just always was.
Kama and/or Kiara face their greatest challenge yet: someone who is asexual. The Beasts of Lust lose and lose hard.
Smut, Nero bondage (I think it still counts if it's something that prevents them from moving) where she forces another character into the Roman Candle Execution Method they pioneered IRL - aka trapping them in a wax coating that restricts their movement (here with the exception of the various body holes) with the caveat that holes are unsealed so Nero can have sex with them. May or may not involve the person/ candle actually being set alight or suffocating in the wax during being fucked The person doesn't actually have to die.
Fate/Stay Night
Archer grows tits. He's still male. He's still a dude, he's masc, he's comfortable being called a man. But now he has tits and he likes them. Anyways now instead of fourth place for biggest chest he's second only to Passionlip.
Hopping off of the archer spontaneously grows tits anon from earlier- he is now the first axis man to get a swimsuit alt because of it.
Guinevere gets summoned, and Lancelot tries to leave her alone to avoid starting any drama, only for Guinevere to demand to see him because she never stopped loving him
Fate/Apocrypha
Astolfo, in a rare moment of lucidity, congratulating someone on their transition. Ideally, phrased ambiguously enough to make it unclear what sort of trans they are, or how far in the transition they are, just that Astolfo is happy with the progress and glad for them to have moved closer to their truth.
Sieg, having been alive and independent for less than a week and whose closest friends are Jeanne and Astolfo, thinks that wearing feminine clothing is completely normal. Upon being summoned to Chaldea, promptly tries on those cute skirts Asolfo likes to wear.
Sieg and Astolfo sleep together. Not as in the euphemism-for-sex sense, they just fall asleep in the same bed cuddling each other, high emphasis on them being physically affectionate and tender and also adorable.
FGO
Smut, Several servants whose claim to fame includes "good at sex" decide to try and figure out who is best at it. They need an impartial judge to agree to get fucked silly by all of them. Gudao/Gudako "mysteriously" goes missing not long after (spends the next weeks getting fucked into the ground by all of them).
Guda finally after everything gets a nice peaceful-ish death! Unfortunately instead of immediately being sent to any after life they have to be isekai'd (again seriously for real this time) so the various afterlife reps can have a custody battle over their immortal soul...
Smut, Nitocris under her Medjed sheet, maintaining the perfect poise and bearing of a pharaoh, exactly the same as all days. Which is rather impressive, seeing as the only thing she's wearing under it is a dildo up her ass. Heavy emphasis on how genuinely nobody else knows anything is any different than usual, with the possible exception of her girlfriend Scheherazade. Who might've been involved in the escapade.
I wanna see Blackbeard covered in blood. Whether it be defending his collection, saving his master, reenactment of his death or that one Black Sails scene, getting his red wings etc I don't care. I just want that nerd drippin in the red stuff
we have fairy knights of the round. but there should be a round table of dogs , naturally lead by Sir Cavall II
There's only room for one loud angry trans man in Chaldea! Mordred and Caenus duke it out! Whether or not the "sparring match" devolves into furious sex afterwards is up to the writer.
BB decides to host a reality show with challenges.. but every challenge is cruel one way or another, like facing your worst fears… BUT IT IS TEN TIMES WORSE. The prize for winning is getting to bed Gudao AND a grail
WG Scenario where after Flauros possessed Lev, he started losing weight from not eating as much as his host used to. Roman points this out during a checkup and it makes Flauros paranoid that this sudden change will make the Chaldeans suspicious of him and realize their coworker has been taken over. So he starts eating more to gain back the weight but overdoes it and winds up as big as Goredolf. Bonus points if a Chaldean hits on him as he gains more but it just makes him think they're onto him.
Smut, heeey maybe the watsonian reason why shiva isn't available for summoning is because there's quite a lot of woman at chaldea interested in pegging him , in addition to teaching Kali & Durga about femdom.. and you have gudako , who is gonna put him in a mating press or die trying.
Morgan and Mash have been in a sexual relationship for a bit now, which they excuse as just being a casual thing (Not the right way to court a queen after all, that’d be incredibly improper…), except Mash has started accidentally picking up her fashion cues with the black lace, occasional blue lipstick, and- oh that’s a collar. Nobody wants to say anything, even if it’s congratulatory, as they don’t wanna get Berserker-looped.
Smut, Everyone has their own sexual rhythm for providing penetration, but Lancelot (Saber)’s is Rock Your Body by Justin Timberlake, and it really weirds Raikou out, because he legitimately doesn’t realize.
the realization that kadoc has fully grown accustomed to chaldea's chaos did not occur when he started a pirate radio station with jalter in order to put BB channel out of buisness, instead the realization hits kadoc when he accidentally calls archer moriarty Dad. and to make things even more funny , fran is cool with having kadoc as a foster brother.
Woodwose somehow ends up at a furry convention
The reason why Blackbeard hate for fighting and actually working is because his thirst for piracy was what made him abandon his wife and lose his life. So in a Dodrinya type situation Chaldea summons Edward Teach(B.B. true name), the greatest pirate who has ever lived, and it's Blackbeard's wife and they have an awkward reunion
all the doctor servants just fucken die due to the amount of apples gudao/gukao consume in this up coming lotte events. they then respawn after the two weeks are up and promptly beat they to death with medical supple.
Consider, Sex Pollen, but Guda is allergic to pollen.
Oberon gets fucked until he starts calling himself Titania.
All the lostbelt kings are lamenting the loss of their lostbelt together, except for Qin who just came back from their own perfect recreation of their lostbelt and is confused on why they’re all sad
since gudako and Morgan are married this means Sith becomes an sibling older due to gudako's kids(kid Gil, Illyea, nursery and jack). Jack super happy to have an older sibling but Sith is against this until jack brings her black-beards head because he was talking mad shit about her older sister. Sith now responds when jack calls her big sis and calls her litte sister from that day on.
Kiara tries to tempt an ace Gudako with garlic bread. Gudako can't eat gluten so the attempt fails miserably.
Noncon, incest, I can't take this anymore I need to see Duryodhana's stupid loser ass get nonconed by Bhima or by a mob I don't care he just deserves to get put in his place (bonus points if you use his line for getting hit by np)
Its Mother's Day in chaldea and in a bit of a twist Morgan gives presents to her phh children since she feels bad for what she did in their timeline
someone be insane about hanahaki with me, theres a botanical fucking garden in ritsuka fujimaru's lungs and people who some of the flowers grow for are dead aaaaaahhh. none of that "its only curable if they love you back" or "removing the flowers kills your ability to feel" though. guda has to get rid of the flowers in their lungs and they gotta confess to do that but again, many of the people they grow flowers for are dead by gudas own hand from the lostbelts going down.
Bradamante is the de facto straightman of the Paladins of Charlemagne, but when left to her own devices/is without any of her ilk, she’s as much off a silly bimbo as the rest of them
Now summoned as a servant rather than a full fairy, Barghest discovers that she no longer gets sick from eating chocolate, and that she has an INCREDIBLE sweet tooth. In order to satiate her appetite, she gets Medb to channel Knocknarea’s spirit origin for access to her chocolate fields, in exchange for Barghest now serving as her Hound and Brave. Cue a Petplay/Weight Gain scenario about their treat-based relationship economy.
Smut, Koyanskaya’s tail isn’t real, it’s a buttplug (of egregiously large proportions, but that’s beside the point), and she’s started selling them. If you keep it in however, a set of Fox ears begin to grow, and your teeth begin to sharpen… hey, what do you mean Gudako just got gifted one?!
Silly omegaverse courtship between master and castoria where guda is desperately trying to court this beautiful fairy idiot with elaborate rock art that is too circular for her tastes, all the food they can make safely while severely impaired from rutbrain, random objects they think she would like, and eventually when they manage to create cool rock art that pleases the lady a sick ass breakdance. Whether or not they fuck in the end is up to you I just like versegm's ideas
Kingprotea practicing to control her strength so she can safely give her Master a headpat. Lots of practice dummies get varying degrees of comically destroyed as she carefully dials it in.
All the Sakuraface servants get summoned all at the same time sharing Sakura's body. Sakura's many many new headmates get up to comedic hijinks as they spend so much time fighting each other for control that Sakura's actually not really stopped from doing anything.
FGO again
Smut, Tai Gong Wang valentines but he actually goes through with what he was alluding to and we are treated to him and Guda having steamy outdoor sex (Guda's gender,.kinks, who tops, ect. is up to the writer)
Smut, Post Valentine's Gudako confronts Oberon over his shitty return gift. The two argue ending in hate sex. What happens next is up to the writer but it's gotta end with Oberon, completely sucked try, exhausted, and questioning if Gudako is related to the Merlins in some way (i.e part succubi)
Smut, You think Gudako is a top? WRONG! She's actually a hardcore masochist that loves being dominated. The crueler the partner, the better.
Let’s stop putting the pining on Mash, let Morgan be the one who has to search endlessly for her first knight whom she no longer remembers.
Okita, noticing that her coughing has only gotten worse to the point that she can no longer fight, begs Nobu to take her head. Nobu does not know what to do
Nightingale, known magic denier, is summoned under the caster class on accident, and is forced to learn how to do wizard/magical girl stuff. She gains a couple ranks in the Insanity skill by proxy.
Artoria stops Medb from consuming a pot brownie, finds out it's "forever weed" laced and has to try and hide the fact that she's super high from Merlin, every member of the round table in chaldea, Morgan, guinevere and other who have somehow been summoned by medb just for this occasion and the master themself
Due to their bond Gudako ends up seeing Angra's memories in her Dreams, specifically who he was before becoming the incarnation of all evil and the torture they did to turn him into that
guda this explaining pronouns to an older servant(whoever you want) while jack is in the room minutes later jack says they want to be non-binary because it represent all the kids that make them up and it sound cool.
loli, Sherlock begs Helena to put him on a leash and collar and walk him around and Helena decides to overperform by taking him out through the Chaldea halls late at night. Humiliation and being out to the writers discretion
Smut, Tamamo and her Master (Hakuno, Gudako, I ain't too picky) engage in BDSM for the first time, with Tamamo as the dom. Tamamo has the experience, though, and so teaches her Master about how it usually goes and how safe words work and such. Lots of emphasis on the process of teaching a newbie how to engage in the kink safely.
The trauma of the Lostbelts actually gets to Ritsuka. They end up repressing the memories of certain events (Mash's death, the destruction of the Lostbelts, fight with ORT, ect.), and would have moments where they disassociate. It gets worse after the Olympus lostbelt as they then would occasionally lay in bed unresponsive for hours to even days.
(writer chooses how the servants deal with this, and wether they want to go full angst, hurt/comfort, ect.)
columbus rolls the worst joint ever witnessed by man god and demon and is immediately executed for it
Canonically not understanding how to treat mental health issues, Nightingale prescribes Gudako bimbofication pills
oberon gifts morgan a gift of just bugs. Now he’s being chased by the faerie knights and now gudako must at least stop them from murdering oberon for his antics
kriemhild wants sieg to change his name. the next day, turns out his name is Hans Schmidt now. And kriemhild has to tell sieg that ‘no, he didn’t have to change his name’
ABDL - Raikou gets fed up with how pervy and non-innocent Gudako acts, and decides she'll have to fuck her until her mind regresses to a more innocent age.
Izou and Ryouma get stuck in myhouse.wad
Fujimaru gets summoned in Requiem, recognizes Erice who is extremly confused about it.
Cu gets into an argument with salter rider maid supreme, decides to one up her at maiding. Not one hell of a butler, one hell of a MAID. He is wearing a MAID dress and doing maid stuff to be clear hear. Shenanigans ensue. He can fuck around along the way if he wants. But he must defeat Salter at maid shit. Any version of cu but setanta is cool for this.
Any fandom
Any character getting turned into a small dress up doll and then being dressed up.
not quite a prompt fill but like, as to how mutting could work(reverse bitching that was requested a while back that mod named) i think it could happen if you just kept your face in peoples holes for long as you can as frequently as you can. eat pussy/ass like you get paid by the hour to do it. probably through someone elses heat or even your own. until you grow a cock to fuck them with. or just become an alpha. whichever is cooler for you.
Some sort of mystical force gets fed up with all the various non-berserk, completely coherent berserkers and decides to rectify that. As practise, it drains Jalter's mind and sanity and increases her physical fitness to the point she makes Heracles look like a reasonable little shrimp

I'd be interested in hearing more about your thoughts here once you're more fully awake, assuming you're still feeling inclined to give them at that point.
Thanks for reminding me of this post! I legitimately forgot I even got this ask last night because I was so sleepy when I answered it.
So...
Kohaku/Akiha is a pretty popular and obvious one around these parts. The two of them have an incredibly unhealthy yet fascinating relationship where Kohaku feels compelled to kill Akiha to complete her revenge and extinguish the family but actually loves her and doesn't realize it.
She has conditioned herself into thinking she's emotionless to such a degree that she's blind to her own feelings and to the grief she feels in the scenario where she succeeds.
Meanwhile, Akiha is rather abusive towards Kohaku herself but also feels endless guilt about what her father did to her and the ways in which she finds herself following in his footsteps. This guilt means that even though she knows what Kohaku is doing, she is willing to just let it happen. She's kind of suicidal in that way.
I'm also a huge fan of bloodplay and BDSM (not the stereotypical latex version), and they certainly have that going on too.
Akiha has said that the maids (as well as her brother) are her property as the head of the Tohno family, and she drinks Kohaku's blood from the chest regularly. It's fun.
And in Kohaku's route Akiha is ultimately saved by a combination of factors, and one of the most important ones is that the part of her that loves Kohaku managed to prevent Akiha from actually killing her. In turn, Kohaku's willingness to save and forgive Akiha is what lets her reach a happy conclusion herself. She even admits that if Akiha was to die then she would revert to how she used to be before Shiki showed her kindness.
Tumblr media
It's great.
Kohaku/SHIKI is similarly messed up, though less complex given that SHIKI is less perceptive than Akiha. Unlike her, he doesn't realize that Kohaku is just manipulating him.
SHIKI is the one who killed Makihisa because of Kohaku's scheming. He was physically the killer, but she is the one who gave him his resentment towards his father (who truly wanted to rehabilitate and release him as soon as possible) and used drugs to brainwash him into the deranged man we know him as.
But he is not necessarily an ally to Kohaku either, but a dangerous tool. Due to both his inversion impulse and the influence of Roa, SHIKI was also often violent and abusive towards her and it was his behavior that convinced Kohaku that the whole family had to go for her to be free.
He is ultimately her enemy as well (though he doesn't really realize it himself), but an enemy she keeps close even though he may unpredictably hurt her. She feels the need to continue to expose herself to that risk for the sake of carrying out her plan.
It's a fascinating (and very destructive) kind of relationship even with no romance involved, and when you consider the fact that some hints of feelings might arise in the moments where he is in control of himself and still acting kindly it becomes very interesting to think about.
Also, we get lines like this, which show a very interesting side to Kohaku and how she thinks of him:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her other two relationships are healthier, but that's a very low bar as we will see.
Kohaku/Shiki is a relationship based heavily on Shiki's unbending devotion towards Kohaku. In her route, he actually manages to figure out what is going on with her and wishes to help her even though she is drugging him and trying to use him to kill Akiha.
He knows and accepts that she is using him as a tool, but supports her anyway. He wants her to heal, enjoy life, and smile for real.
And it turns out that, since Kohaku is not truly as empty as she believes herself to be, realizing that someone other than Hisui cares about her so deeply does in fact cause her to try and change course only for things to spiral out of her control anyway.
I am personally a bit biased towards liking this one for personal reasons. It plays on a sort of rescue fantasy of mine and the way Shiki is such a loyal supporter to Kohaku despite knowing her nature strongly reminds me of everything my husband did for me when I was engaging in my own duplicitous anti-family plot. I have a very intimate appreciation for that kind of love and support.
The ending where Kohaku tracks down Shiki's childhood home and grows a field of sunflowers there to welcome him back with a real smile is also capable of making me cry.
It's probably my favorite moment in the whole story, if I'm being honest. The fact that I managed to meet someone who loves me so much when I was in the mental state that I was in really feels like a fantasy.
Finally, we have Kohaku/Hisui. Even ignoring the rather non-canon incest threesome side story in Kagetsu Tohya, the twins have a really interesting relationship as well.
Tumblr media
From the very start, Hisui has been something that Kohaku values more than her own life. This is obvious enough from just how she subjected herself to far more abuse than she otherwise would have gotten for her sake, but even in the present Hisui seems to be the one person that Kohaku is unwilling to hurt or kill for her plan (other than sedating her a few times).
Kohaku also first started to smile the way she does in an effort to cheer up a broken Hisui, essentially adopting her sister's previous upbeat personality in an attempt to help her regain it herself one day.
Her current self is really "Hisui from the past".
On the other side of this, Hisui seems to greatly admire Kohaku and feels a hollowing sort of guilt upon learning of how she suffered for her sake. The novel itself doesn't really portray this very explicitly or completely, but I believe that Hisui is far, far more traumatized than a lot of people realize even if Kohaku took the bulk of Makihisa's abuse.
Not just that, Hisui is currently making her own sacrifices for Kohaku's sake.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She noticed that Kohaku seemed to be enjoying her Past Hisui roleplay, so she deliberately kills off her own emotional expression so that Kohaku can keep smiling. She fears that if she goes back to her usual self, Kohaku will do the same and become silent and gloomy once again.
We learn elsewhere that even though Kohaku's smile is fake, she does indeed enjoy her act. She was having some amount of fun, and Hisui realizes this. If it brings her sister even a small amount of healing, Hisui is willing to become more like a doll herself.
Both of them are extremely protective and self-sacrificial towards each other. It's a very cute and (relatively) wholesome relationship.
The incest angle is easy enough to apply, too. After all, Kohaku is the kind of person who makes a line of robots that look like her own sister, among other things...
I thought you were a Kohakiha? Am I thinking of someone else?
[pretend this part of the ask is a really cool joke about sucking on tits]
I like them both, on top of several other pairings. I feel like Kohaku in particular has really interesting things going on with everyone else living in (or underneath) the mansion.
I'd explain what I like about each of those relationships in my usual verbose fashion but I have been falling asleep and waking up for a while now and my brain is not fully online at the moment.

Senku and Gen: A fight? HeadCanon
I've always written hcs when I seem stuck in writing because there are days where I have the ideas but my thoughts aren't as cooperative in the creativity department. So another headcanon turned into narrative - featuring the realest aspect of every relationship ever: arguments.
Also, involving the characters of KoS with KoM merged 💖💫
• When Senku and Gen fights, they never allow it to get in the way of their meetings. Especially since they held meetings with the five generals every so often.
• They swore that their relationship shouldn't get in the way - so they can often get quick past it outside with other people
• The catch is, its obvious that they had a fight. There won't be verbal terms thrown around, but Suika and Chrome feels it but cant quite put a hand on it.
• Ukyo and Ryusui on the other hand sees what's different - theres quite a bit of charged tension, but not too thick to get in the way and stifle conversations.
• Even old man Kaseki sees what's different from when they're normal or theyre fighting.
• Gen calls Senku without any honorifics - and Senku is much more reserved and replies way too straightforward. He doesnt bother with explanations like before and goes 100% straight to the point.
• But he is also reserved in a way that he doesnt throw any jokes around.
• Gen, is immensely cheery as if to make up and cover the fact that there's something going on.
• You'd think he is extra cheerful but if you look past it like Kohaku can, you'd see how his smiles and giggles isn't quite genuine.
• As a former entertainer, its easy to pass it off and to act, but inquisitive people and people who are his friends can differentiate his performance and genuine emotions.
• Kohaku, Ukyo, Ruri and as much as he hates it, Senku.
• Senku sees his overly cheery mood and at times, it gets to his nerves that his showman smile is plastered way too permanently.
• Senku has this secret hatred for Gen's facade.
• He hates that their arguments do this - but his pride also stops him from doing anything.
• Gen also sees how Senku gets easily annoyed at the smallest things, but he never pops off.
• When Senku is about to let out a steam, he catches himself way before words he don't mean can come stumbling out - and he excuses himself to cool down.
• He doesn't want people talking to him when that happens.
• Gen acts the same - secluding himself.
• He does this when something is bothering him, going for long walks around the forest to clear his head off and maintain his composure.
• He talks to himself mostly, to get his thoughts running and sorted and this had worked for him even way before - but more often it ends up in him being a sobbing mess because he hates that they've fought.
• Senku literally loses sleep and delves further into work, making more of the energy drink he made for Kinro just to keep him running. Coffee and Monster drink didnt exist here so he might as well make his own power up drink.
• Even though he is head deep into mountains work for Kingdom of Science - every so often he'll space out and think back about his and Gen's fight.
• More often, this makes Senku hiss and crumple or break whatever he is holding onto. Its frustrating and he hates emotions and irrationality - but he hates it more that no ones hovering over his shoulders or clinging onto him.
• No one knows how long it lasts - it varies depending on their degree of fights. Sometimes, within a day, other times three days.
• No one can complain because they still get work done - Senku leading teams and Gen still boosting morale despite his being so low at that point.
• The next meeting they held, no one mentions the slightly red edges to Gen's eyes and Senku's pinkish nose.
• This time, Tsukasa and Hyoga were present, so is Kohaku and Francoise because it seems urgent.
• Its going towards the usual flow - everything is smooth and flowing until Tsukasa notices Senkus fast replies when Gen asks, and Gen's lack of honorifics towards the scientists name.
• Hyoga, being brutally honest and reveling in such charged tension, decided to add oil to the flame.
• Did you two fight?
• Senku and Gen could only look at him, looks at each other and then simultaneously and respectively answers yes and no - and everyone watched with bated breath as the tension hastily thickens up.
• No one has ever interefered when the Kingdom of Science's two founding leaders were fighting - this being a first and it had to be Hyoga who intercepts.
• It could have been more acceptable if it was Suika, but even little Suika had learnt from Francoise that when two people fight, others shouldnt interfere so she lets it be even though she's sad that Senku and Gen fought.
• Senku manages to repress his exasperated thoughts and so does Gen who brushes off everything with a clearly fake smile - but Hyoga mentioning it makes everything unbearable and everyones now walking on thin ice.
• Ryusui and Francoise decided its enough, calls for a two hour break before they get into another meeting and locks the two of them in the observatory.
• No one can leave until they make up.
///
Yep, cliffhanger. I'll probably post the making up part if I get the inspiration to write it 🤭 I like to think that Senku and Gen both has a hard time apologizing because for one, Senku is emotionally incapacitated JK HAHAHA no, but he just doesnt see it as necessary because action speaks louder than words.
Whereas Gen has his pride - even though he is probably in the wrong, he doesn't apologize for the heck of it and probably manipulates people into thinking they're the ones at fault. He doesn't do this with Senku though. It's why he is at a loss because his whole life it's what he is good at and then Senku comes in and bulldozes his bad habit.

What do you think of this whole "ppl shipping SessRin are basically supporting paedophilia” on tumblr? I've seen lots of japapense fans on twitter and they're all basically happy for the huge possibility of having Rin as Sesshomaru's wife and the mother of Towa and Setsuna, and then I go to tumblr and see all these SessRin bashing, saying that their bond should have kept platonic, the "real" sesshomaru will not behave romantically with Rin, etc. Idk what to think? :/ What are your thoughts?
oh goody, this is going to be a long one.
it’s so ridiculous 🙄 I’ve seen this “paedophilia” argument so many times and it’s triggering how they misuse this term so much. Especially as a law student (pet peeve: people misusing technical terms and making very serious (false) accusations).
Paedophilia tends to be the umbrella term for everything with a big age gap or when one party of the couple knew the other party as a child, which shows how uneducated they are with their try hard activism. Paedophilia is a psychiatric disorder, when an adult is primary or exclusively sexually attracted to prepubescent children.
No one in their right mind ships Sesshomaru with Rin while she was still a kid, I’ve yet to see someone who actively ships them in a romantic setting with her still being a kid. All the shippers I’ve come across and fanworks made, are her being a young adult or adult.
The other term they’re throwing around is “grooming”, while thinking it means he groomed her into his wife, which is also false and a misuse of the term. Grooming happens, when an adult is befriending and establishing an emotional connection with a child in order to lower the child’s inhibitions with the object of sexual abuse. Sessh didn’t approach her with any sexual intentions in mind, he tolerated her following him out of pity, which turned into being her protector after a while. As I see it, Jaken was more of a father figure for her than Sessh was. He ignored her most of the times, just watching over her and made sure she was safe (i mean, like a dog...a guard dog). And he certainly didn’t “groom” her into being his wife, that dude did not show any signs of romantic interest while she was a child. Heck, he was pretty stoic most of the times.
The fact, that people who saw Sessh as a father figure for Rin exist, is actually our strongest argument against their paedophilia accusation. They wouldn’t have been able to perceive their relationship as such in the first place, if there were ANY romantic advances or signs while she was a child. Wanna see and read about a real pedophile story/relationship? Go read Lolita by Vladimir Nobakov, it’s disturbing.
Another form of grooming happens, when someone is manipulated until they’re isolated, dependent and more vulnerable to exploitation (can also happen with adults). Though it was only a filler episode, in episode 162 (Forever with Lord Sesshomaru), Sessh even gave her the free choice to either stay with humans or follow him (with his trademark line “do as you please”). In the Manga she was staying with Kaede in the end. And she was friends with Kohaku. She mostly fended for herself (with Jaken), foraging for food in the wild or secretly on farms. Rin was certainly not isolated or dependent. I’m not even digging into the exploitation point, because there is nothing to say.
I admit, they way SessRin developed is not completely unproblematic and the biggest factor is, that he met her while she was still a child. I can agree with that, but most SessRin shippers do not ship them because he knew her as a child, but because she was the first one who he cared for. If you break it down, it’s pretty much the cold-emotionless-bad boy-falls-for-a-girl-after-being-shown-kindness-for-the-first-time trope. SessRin shippers would’ve also shipped them if Rin was the same age as Kagome the first time they’ve met. Rin being a child when they met is not the base of this ship, it’s their relationship and how she broke through Sessh’s walls and that she was the first (human) being he ever cared for. She was also the reason Sessh slowly began to accept Tenseiga as his sword.
People who are saying Sessh went out of character and should’ve stayed on platonic terms with Rin, clearly have no idea about storytelling and character development. Sessh is a dog demon. Inuyasha is a dog demon. Inu no Taisho was a dog demon. Rin is a human, Kikyo was a human, Kagome is a human, Izayoi was a human. Basically, dogs love humans and create very strong bonds with them. Even staying loyal when their owner mistreats or abuses them. The whole series builds up on this dog-human dynamic. Basically every romantic interest involving a dog demon ended up being a dog-human pair. What’s not clicking?
I also find it quite funny, how some of those people can also ship Kagome and Inuyasha while preaching their (false) paedophilia speech in the same sentence. Kagome was 15 when she met 200 year old Inuyasha. 15. That’s a teenager. I’m 26 and when I see 15 year olds, they look like toddlers to me. I don’t see anyone advocating for Kagome’s minor rights. The whole world flipped when Drake was dating a 18 year old but the fandom is still pretty silent about the fact, that Kagome was also 18 when she was married to 203 y/o Inuyasha in the epilogue. InuKag and SessKag shippers don’t get the same criticism as SessRin shippers, even though Kagome is also still a minor and that’s where you see the hypocrisy.
They can ship her because her design looks older and it’s easier to forget that she’s 15/18. Usagi from Sailor Moon was 14 when she met and began a romantic relationship with Mamoru, who was 17. Even though both are considered minors, 14 is a lot different than 17 but nobody bat an eye for that either. Probably it’s because Usagi doesn’t look like a 14 year old. Kagome doesn’t look like a 15 year old. But Rin looks her age, she looks like an 8 year old when they first met, evoking a different perception in people of being a minor, the age gap and her vulnerability. That’s the only reason I can think of, why people are fine with InuKag, SessKag, KogaKag and whatever, even though it’s essentially almost the same setting as with SessRin. Rin is a minor, Kagome is a minor, they both are protected by their stronger and much older demon travel partners. And its hypocritical to try and argue a difference because grooming and abuse of an 8 year old is such as horrific as of an 15 year old. If one of them is a victim, then both are.
I’m not trying to shit on InuKag or other Kagome ships btw., I love Kagome and InuKag, I’m just trying to show the hypocrisy in their fake activism, because it’s not based on facts and information but rather on subjective feelings and perception. It’s fine and legitimate to not like SessRin because of said reasons, but it is wrong to judge others for shipping it and accuse them of supporting paedophilia. People who are triggered by SessRin, should stay away from it but leave those alone, who enjoy it.
Oh and before someone runs their mouth at me and use personal history as an argument, I’ve been a victim of paedophilia and grooming myself. I was touched and molested by my private tutor for years between 5th and 7th grade. But I’ve overcome my trauma, educated myself and I’m able to tell fiction from reality. Nobody watches Inuyasha for relationship and dating advice. Misusing terms is actually harming the ones involved and projecting one own’s traumas and struggles onto others, by shaming them for shipping something is not helping anyone and doesn’t make a difference at all.
Lastly, no SessRin shipper is condoning real life child/adult relationships. We are able to ship them because fictional stories are less dimensional than real life situations are. Fictional relationships have less nuances, cherry picked dynamics and moments that make us perceive them in a specific way. It is man made. What seems romantic in a fictional story (even between two adults) may be littered with red flags or less exciting and boring in a real life setting. People consume fiction mainly for entertainment, not for real life and dating advice.
Remember, this is just a fictional story, just chill the f out.

Yashahime Translation (Partial): Pash! Plus Interview 1/23/21
Please do not repost this translation without my consent! This includes screenshots of any type and amount. If you wish to share this translation, simply link to this post.
For more information regarding the use of my translations, click here.
This is another interview with the 3 voice actresses and many of the questions they asked have already been answered in previous articles which I’ve translated. Hence, I have only translated portions that are unique to this article.
“Hanyō no Yashahime” Interview with Matsumoto Sara, Komatsu Mikako, and Tadokoro Azusa! What “future development” are the three of them anticipating? “I want to see parent-child exchanges!”
— With every episode, various mysteries are gradually becoming clear, but is there anything that particularly surprised you?
All: This is difficult (to answer)! We’re surprised every time!
Tadokoro: For me, it was when Sesshōmaru-sama left without saying anything despite hearing Zero tell Homura “Burn that forest to the ground” in episode 15. I became uneasy thinking “It can’t be. Does he not love his children...?”.
Matsumoto: You would think that if you looked just at that part.
Tadokoro: I was also surprised by the story following that.
Matsumoto: The part where Inuyasha and Kagome were put inside the black pearl right? That part moved me like “Father…”. No, probably more like “understood” rather than moved. Like “Sesshōmaru-sama wouldn’t do something like that without thinking”
Komatsu: Sesshōmaru just doesn’t say important things after all.
Matsumoto: I’ve learned that he’s simply not good at talking.
Komatsu: What surprised me the most is something that actually happens later on. It’s a spoiler so I can’t say anything but… Riku’s identity is… *mumbles*
Matsumoto: We also just happened to overhear it (laughs)
Komatsu: It’s a topic we actually weren’t supposed to hear about (laughs) We truly aren’t told what’s going to happen until we get the script.
Matsumoto: Regarding the subject of Riku, we were surprised like “So that’s how it was!?” when we happened to overhear a keyword, so I think the viewers will be quite surprised as well. Look forward to it (laughs)!
Komatsu: It’s hinted at a little bit when Riku makes his initial debut…
Matsumoto: I think those who are perceptive would think “Huh?”
Komatsu: Then there’s the scene that I also said left an impression on me which is what Miroku-sama had been up to until now.
Matsumoto: Me too! I was also surprised that he properly aged.
Tadokoro: He aged well didn’t he (laughs). He was so awesome! I was curious as to what he was doing after the wind tunnel disappeared.
Matsumoto: I knew Miroku and Sango had kids from “Inuyasha” but the child rearing and conversations with them weren’t depicted, so I had wondered about that for a long time. However, seeing the communication with his son moved me like “You’ve become such a good father!” since he is my favorite character as well. That Miroku-sama hadn’t changed even after becoming a father gave me feels.
Tadokoro: Don’t you think the conversation between Kagome-san and Sango-san as fellow mothers was good too? Mom friends talk (laughs). I could keenly feel how Sango was looking out for Kagome-san when she said “Yours is going to be born soon right? Watch your step okay.”. As someone who plays Moroha, episode 16 is a must see!
Komatsu: We never had an episode that greatly featured Moroha’s past until then.
Tadokoro: It’s the episode where you learn why Moroha earns money. She had been asked once before “What are you going to do with all that money?” but she dodged the question.
— There are a lot of episodes that should be checked out (laughs)
Matsumoto: Episodes 14, 15, and 16 are pretty deep after all! (laughs)
Tadokoro: Indeed
Komatsu: They have a lot of information.
— Earlier, Matsumoto-san said, “I like Miroku-sama” so could all of you please tell us your favorite characters?
Tadokoro: My favorites are Kohaku-kun and Sesshōmaru-sama. Kohaku-kun went through something terrible and seeing him living a painful way of life by making himself a sacrifice made me think “I want to make him happy”. There’s also the major fact that I liked Yajima-san’s (Akiko) acting, so the feeling of tragic heroism oozing from his voice aroused a protective urge within me. Now he’s an adult and is firmly continuing the work of demon slaying… I feel proud for some reason (laughs). He’s become such a fine man…
Matsumoto: I love Miroku-sama and Naraku too much! Regarding Naraku, at the beginning, the shock of “There’s this kind of warped love!” was huge. While it started off as something suddenly lighting a fire in his heart for Kikyō, to think that from there things would end up going the way they did… The emotions that budded from a small happening became, more than anything, this big energy to Naraku and caused him to act the way he did. It’s probably strange for me to say, but I “learned” that that’s one form of “love” (laughs). In terms of Miroku-sama, I thought he was purely awesome. He’s the one person within the group whose position is really helpful. Figuratively speaking, the part of him that’s like the vice president and not the president of the student council is what I like. He’s the unsung hero who follows under the person who rampages the most. I also love the gap of how his tongue becomes sharp once you get acquainted with him.
Komatsu: While Kagome influenced me, my favorite was Kagura. She was part of Naraku’s group, but her heart wavered so much that you wondered “Was she really born from Naraku?”. There was something human about her. I think those born from Naraku were born from something Naraku had in the first place, so Kagura probably had the faint “human heart” that was in Naraku. I had a lot of empathy when she became the wind and was freed at the end. I could never forget the scene where she died attended by Sesshōmaru. It was precious in any event… Kagome is who I wanted to be but the one who stole my heart with her way of life was Kagura.
— If you were to apply Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha’s relationship to yourselves, what would happen?
All: It would still be the same (laughs)
Komatsu: It would relatively stay the same. How to put it, roles? For example, for Sara-chan, she’s a mood maker, friendly, and isn’t timid about anything. In a sense, she’s the commanding officer of the raid. I think she’s just like Towa in terms of position. Moroha’s character is very energetic with a lot of vitality and she’s completely inherited Inuyasha and Kagome’s blood. However, she’s the balancer among the Yashahimes. She reads the mood quite a bit and she has a territory where “she won’t proceed any further from here”. For example, when she didn’t talk about why she earns money. I think the part where she doesn’t fully open up at the beginning is similar to Koroazu-chan (Tadokoro’s nickname).
Matsumoto: I know! That’s exactly why you want to get to know her more. Like “Show us more!” (laughs)
— What do Komatsu-san and Setsuna have in common?
Komatsu: Setsuna is a child who can clearly state her opinion on serious matters. She calmly makes judgements and has a solid feeling for not talking when she doesn’t talk and talking when she does talk. I have a feeling I also make judgement calls of “I should stay quiet here.” Setsuna is probably listening to what other people are saying in scenes where it doesn’t look like she is. However, she purposely doesn’t say anything. She has the option of “Not answering”. She’s not silent because she doesn’t want to listen or respond. Rather, I think it’s a time when she’s thinking about various things to herself. I feel that I personally understand that very well.
Matsumoto: I think Setsuna is the “axle” of the three Yashahimes but even among the three of us, there’s a sense of “We need Mikako-san”. When there’s a problem, I look towards Mikako-san’s direction (laughs).
Tadokoro: Mikako-san calmly watches over everyone, so we end up relying on her when there’s a problem. There was a time when the three of us went shopping and I asked, “Am I buying too much?”.  Mikako-san responded, “You’re buying too much” and I returned the item to the shelf (laughs). I leave the judgement to her and end up depending on her.
Komatsu: I’m unexpectedly not thinking anything though (laughs)
— What do the three of you think is the appeal of “Hanyō no Yashahime”?
Tadokoro: For those who enjoyed “Inuyasha”, they’re probably wondering how their favorite characters are living their lives. You can find out in “Hanyō no Yashahime” which I think is a big appeal.
Komatsu: In “Inuyasha”, the grudge against Kikyō and the romance with Kagome were components of the story. However, this time, a big component of the story is discovering their births and that’s what I think is appealing.
(translator’s note: There is more to this section, but these are the only sentences that I considered unique to this article)
— Thank you. Well then, please tell us if you have any anticipations for the upcoming development in “Hanyō no Yashahime”?
Matsumoto: I would have to say I want to anticipate both fathers doing something. If they were to come running when the Yashahimes are in a bind, that would make me happy.
Komatsu: I want to see parent-child conversations.
Matsumoto: That makes me nervous….
Tadokoro and Komatsu: Indeed! It does make me nervous!
Komatsu: I’m getting all sorts of wild ideas like what sort of conversation they’ll have or what things will they address.
Matsumoto: How will they address them when they meet face to face? There was an episode where Kagome address’s Moroha as "Moroha” but… If Sesshōmaru addresses me as “Towa”, I might have a nosebleed (laughs).
Tadokoro and Komatsu: (laughs)
Komatsu: Setsuna basically said “I don’t know who Sesshōmaru is!” during their conversation with the Tree of Ages (laughs). Even when she meets her father, she’ll probably say “So you’re Sesshōmaru”. But I want (him) to address her as “Setsuna” (laughs).
All: Basically, we want to see parent-child exchanges (laughs).
— Thank you very much!

OK LETS GO
So today's episode is a nice little review. Remember that Dream Butterfly thing? Yeah, the twins are still searching and Setsuna still seems uninterested but going along with her sister (i think she is more invested than she let's on). And remember Treekyo? And her asking them to defeat Kirinmaru? Yeah, Towa reflects on that as well, and even asks Moroha if she is fine with going along with it. Moroha only cares about her debt, so of course she is good with it. None of the girls realize they are being manipulated yet. Its a nice little way to bring the focus back to the main plot. We have had backstory and explanations for some things, so we have a slightly better picture, but not enough to tell us everything. Its good story telling, I will hear no complaints.
Then we see more of our antagonist. Zero and Kirinmaru, and Riku being more and more sus. We know he is a retainer of Kirinmaru, and he said they have something of his. I'm betting its his freedom, or something along those lines.
TOWA OMG WHEN WILL YOU LEARN NOT TO TRUST WHATEVER SOMEONE SAYS I SWEAR YOUR SISTER IS RIGHT YOU ARE TOO NAIVE
Then we have the trap. Very nice. Very elegant. I love psychological torture. Remember Naraku did A LOT OF THOSE to trap Inuyasha and the gang. So its a nice call back. The trap itself seems very simple and we don't get to see the point of it bc the twins destroy it so easily. But it separates the twins from Moroha and makes them go in circles. Presumably to keep them going until they get exhausted and die. Sestuna is very perceptive and knows something is off from the start. She cuts the grass to discover they are going in circles. She cuts herself to make sure this isn't a dream world. Kohaku has taught her well. Towa gets chided bc she won't do what is necessary. She is still learning how to be ruthless in the feudal era, and I like that. She isn't done growing. Moroha is alone and we see that it shakes her. She has been alone for a long time so she ought to be used to it, but her first concern is finding the twins. SHE IS GETTING USED TO RELYING ON THEM. HELP
And then the twins using each other to figure out the spell is just *chef's kiss* mwah!! Also Setsuna called them a CLAN. I LOVE IT. she said their "clan can find the demon energies and cut them", referring to the Wind Scar. So it seems like that isn't wholly unique to Inuyasha, and its something they all share. I find that very interesting. They find the Peril (i keep forgetting his name) and that's where our episode leaves off. Stupid cliff.
BUT NEXT WEEK. OOOOOOOHHHH BOY NEXT WEEK.
THE GIRLS GET TO MEET THEIR FATHER FOR THE FIRST TIME. YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS. GET READY TO GIVE AUNTY CHAOS CPR

REASONS WHY HISUI WILL BECOME ONE OF THE GREATEST, MOST POWERFUL DEMON SLAYERS EVER - an headcanon post essay by zee
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about horrible writing and what it’s done with what’s arguably, for me at least, one of my favorite characters. Who really has so much going for him it’s a shame the series isn’t doing more with him. So today I spent some time thinking about his character and how - arguably - Hisui will become one of the most powerful demon slayers of all time.
Let’s begin with something YASHAHIME confirmed itself but hasn’t addressed so far in the series. Hisui’s spiritual powers. Yotsume, a shapeshifting demon was shown in the first episode to be watching Kagome, Sango and her children. Twins Kin’u and Gyokuto. Also, at the time Hisui, who was still shown to be a baby. Now thinking back on how much Kagome’s powers would have developed, what point we’re at in time, how long it’s been etc. I still think it’s fair to say that Kagome’s a pretty powerful priestess, even if she is still learning to acclimate to a different time period for good. What sticks out to me as a big shocker is that while she did not sense Yotsume, Hisui did. Because it’s only upon the demon’s appearance that the boy begin’s to cry and try to alert his family that YO. GUYS. HELP. SOMETHING DOESN’T FEEL RIGHT. I SENSE A DEMON. That’s some baby yoda levels of perception and spiritual awareness. So by all accounts, it suggests Hisui’s spiritual powers and sensory awareness not only should surpass his father’s when he’s just a BABY but Kagome’s as well.
Now you may ask - why did he sense Yotsume but not roothead when it was about to barge into the house? I have a few theories about this too. One - he’s a baby. Baby’s get tired and I would imagine like baby yoda is shown to be in the mandalorian, when he over exerts himself his powers aren’t as strong and he actually has to rest. Because he had such a strong reaction to Yotsume, you could say he needed to sleep. He’s shown with his eyes closed in his mother’s arms and thumb in his mouth. Or you could say that he felt at ease given that he sensed SESSHOMARU ON THE ROOF protecting them. Who didn’t do a very good job just letting roothead barge right in I might add, but hey. There’s a lot of problems with the writing in this show.
So if we consider how spiritually powerful Hisui was as a baby, it’d be fair to say that as teenager his powers would only grow (and by Yashahime logic, if children inherit things from both their parents yes I’m looking at you Moroha you beautiful feral child) then it would make sense to me why he’d be so strong. Having Miroku’s bloodline of powerful monks but also, remember, on Sango’s side - that’s distantly related to the famous priestess Midoriko. So reason number one point blank why he’d be a threat to demons and make for a powerful taijiya? His powers. They’re, to put it simply in laments terms, going to be off the charts. I think there really was a missed opportunity by sunrise in the most recent episode where Totetsu was hunting monks to realize it wasn’t Miroku the pearl sensed great spiritual power in, but perhaps instead Miroku’s son. Who was there to protect him. It could have been a grand reveal too. Hisui imbues the hiraikotsu with spiritual energy or throws up a huge barrier to protect the temple grounds. Something he’s never done in front of others before - bam. Plot twist. And a really cool character moment.
Secondly, why will Hisui be a force to be reckoned with? Because his mother AND his uncle are training him. And his father, I would imagine with regards to his spiritual powers - would train him in that too. Hisui’s got an amazing support system and fountain of knowledge in his family that he can learn from and grow into the kind of leadership role I imagine he will one day. Sango and Kohaku are both talented and would pass on their knowledge to Hisui so that the future of the Taijiya Village can be restored. And it will be. Hisui is, like his sisters and the other children that want to learn and become slayers themselves - their future. You can’t tell me he wouldn’t take that seriously. You can’t tell me that every day since he could walk he wasn’t trying to run off to train with his mother’s weapon or asking to follow her and uncle into battles. Because he strikes me as someone who’d be very proud of his family history and all the more eager to make them proud.
With all that being said, I don’t think there’s any question Hisui will do great things. I think a lot of demons will come after him to test him and maybe would even attack the village constantly because like Kikyo, they would see him as a human with too much power. But I also think that’d be one of the reasons the village would remain safe too -  because he’d be there to protect it.
I think he’ll be one of the greatest demon slayers of all time. Hands down. But I don’t think the writers will give him enough attention, love, or character development for me to ever see that animated and that’s okay. That’s what I have a rp blog for :P

Oh, I LIKE it!!!!! And frankly, I didn’t expect to.  But so far the old gang’s characterization is spot-on.  This Fandom Old is PLEASED.  Grade: A!
Major Hanyo no Yashahime spoilers under the cut!
Looks like we’re going to have a really engaging  format of tidbit flashbacks and the present. Great way of driving the audience a little insane wanting to know what happened to their old favorites and how it impacts the present timeline.  Clever, clever!
Setsuna is already my favorite, but who is surprised? She is exactly like her father, lol.  And her relationship with Moroha is exactly like Sesshomaru’s with Inuyasha, had they never had any strife caused by business Toga left unfinished.  “You’re attacking too soon!” Setsuna scolds, while Moroha charges right into battle, lmfaoooo.
Tumblr media
As for my boy, it’s good to know he’s still a great big softie after all these years:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was utterly comedic to me, but also VERY telling.  Jaken claims Sesshomaru doesn’t care about the village they live in, as a counter-mand to Shippo’s criticisms, when Sesshomaru himself was not in the least bit concerned with the perception others have of him, and remained stationed outside of Sango’s hut to protect Rin (and Sango, and the other children).  In fact, earlier he demonstrated tremendous faith in Sango by deciding that Rin should stay, not with Inuyasha and Kagome, but with Sango.  Why? Sango is the hunter who is so important to the boy he often guarded, the boy who was so good to Rin: Sango’s brother Kohaku.
Tumblr media
The fact that Setsuna is later seen in the exact same garb Sango wears, but with a mokomoko (fur) like her father’s, shows me that the trust Sesshomaru had in Sango and Kohaku in particular, did not soon change.
Speaking of this, I am worried about Miroku. A big point was made that he is “powerless” without the Wind Tunnel/Kazaana.  A big point was also made of Sango handing baby Hisui to Kohaku.  I would be worried about Sango, too, but such a big point was made of her competence in switching from mom to warrior on a dime, and protecting her loved ones and herself (which again, goes back to why Sesshomaru trusts her so much with Rin, which, recall, goes ALL THE WAY back to when she gave Rin her poison mask in the final battle with Naraku, and nearly lost her own life protecting the child).   But Miroku doesn’t seem to have much presence in any of the character designs in the present: as if he died when the next-gen kids, including his own son, were infants, and all those kids relied on KOHAKU, instead, as a father-figure.
I would be worried about Kagome, but since so much was made of how Inuyasha should “have more faith in her” in battle, like he did in Kikyo, it seems like she will be okay, too. Mysteriously gone, somewhere, to be later found by her daughter? Likely.  But dead, I don’t think so.
The mystery remains as to: -- why we only see Inuyasha, Sesshomaru, and Kohaku in the present, and in the opening credits.   --what the three shikon no tama-esque jewels are, which represent and display the power of, each of the next-gen kids. --what happened when the Root Head demon’s one surviving sacred arrow purified root sort of.....rejuvenated the tree against which Inuyasha used to be sealed. Is that how the Bone-Eater’s Well was recharged and let Towa “Higurashi” travel between the past and present?

Buster Bros Interview with Animate Times
Check it-- Animate Times February Interview!
Another article for everyone’s beloved brother division, Buster Bros! Be sure to check out and support the original article as well!
Tumblr media
Aiming to elevate “Hypnosis Mic” to the level of the Kohaku Show! Interview with the three brothers of “Buster Bros!!!” - Kimura Subaru-san, Ishiya Haruki-san and Amasaki Kouhei-san
“Hypnosis Mic” - The unique mix of Hip-hop and the 2D world which raised waves of interests. Each Division released their own single about themselves, and now the Division Battles will soon unfold. Before that, “Hypnosis Mic” has already had various exposure and developments. How do the voice actors feel about this success? This time, we interviewed the cast of Ikebukuro Division, the three brothers of “Buster Bros!!!” -Kimura Subaru-san, Ishiya Haruki-san, and Amasaki Kouhei-san with this question in mind. How did they transform after rising to such huge, unprecedented popularity?!
Rap moves people’s heart —— Thank you for coming today. I feel that “Hypnosis Mic” has recently become really famous, have you ever noticed the popularity of your own work?
Amasaki Kouhei-san (hereafter, Amasaki): At first, the “Hypnosis Mic - Division Rap Battle -” MV was uploaded onto Youtube. And then it suddenly trended. When I saw that it was in first place, I was shocked (laughs).   I’ve never done something like “Hypnosis Mic” before, so I couldn’t predict what would happen. I remember being very happy when it placed well. I felt like “Maybe this could be some awesome content...?” (laughs). I was very grateful.
Ishiya Haruki-san (hereafter, Ishiya) : I was also told about the MV by the people from my company. They were all like “I saw you rapping!” I was surprised because the word “rap” is rarely mentioned in this industry. We also appeared in the MV, didn’t we? I said, “Isn’t Kimura-san a diligent rapper?” (laughs). Since I appeared after him, someone told me, “You are too plain...” I felt determined to diss him (laughs).
Kimura Subaru-san (hereafter, Kimura) : No no, we’re all cool, since we’re from the Ikebukuro Division (laughs). We are MC’s with pride.
—— This was the first time Ishiya-san and Amasaki-san have rapped, yes?
Ishiya: That’s right. That was the first recording.
——Even though it was the first time, I remember being surprised by how well it was done.
Kimura: That’s why it surprised me too (laughs). I thought we wouldn’t be able to do it so quickly, but it only confirmed the greatness of voice actors (laughs). As expected, voice actors have good hearing. All that’s left now is to keep up the attitude. I tip my hat to them. Anyhow, it’s really taken form.  As you continue to do it, you add emotions to your rap through your character, so that the words stand out more. Voice actors know how to make a word stand out and how to put emotions in the lyrics. So when I think about it, for me, voice actors are amazing, but at the same time, they are a bit inferior (laughs). I’m joking, they’re amazing indeed. This is one of the contents in which I can compare the rappers. The response was too big, so of course, it is surprising. When people listen to the songs of “Hypnosis Mic”, they might feel “Finally, a taste of hip-hop!” “HiGH&LOW” became a hot topic, so it is finally the era where yankees are popular (laughs). It was the era of Herbivore Men before, and now it seems it's time for tough guys to be popular again, so there’s no way to bypass hip-hop.
Thanks to the “Voice actors will Rap” breakthrough, I feel like it was possible to broaden the mindset of “It’s okay to listen to hip-hop”. I felt super excited sometimes, the first time was when I saw the number of views on Youtube, the second time, was how the public reacted to the events, when they raised their hands. When I look on Twitter, I see the fans say things like, “I don’t have a favorite, but I can’t hate the others you know?” “No, no what are you talking about, there’s one right there.” There seems to be some dissing going on among the fans (laughs). Seeing that, made me aware of the greatness of “Hypnosis Mic”.
※1:HiGH&LOW
A dance & vocal group, a entertainment project by EXILE TRIBE centering on EXILE. Besides TV dramas, movies, cartoons and animations, they also release music and hold experience events.
——You really do feel like cheering on the MC battles, it’s like this feeling was born around it. What do you think is the reason for such excitement?
Kimura: Isn’t it because Hayami Show-san (Jinguji Jakurai) is doing rap? (laughs)
Everyone: (laughs).
——That’s for sure (laughs).
Kimura: I already thought there’s something bigger (laughs). Afterall, it seems like it is unprecedented.
Ishiya: Maybe because it’s possible to feel the likelihood of it. Just from the first video, there wasn’t a unfamiliar fragment. There’s a feeling of expectation that makes you get into it, in my opinion.
Amasaki: The hip-hop boom began a few years ago and I think this is the perfect time. Those who started liking hip-hop recently and those who like anime and games, but have never had contact with hip-hop, can equally enjoy it.   I particularly like anime and games, so I like “Hypnosis Mic”, it may be because it was my favorite 2D world.
Kimura: “Hypnosis Mic” came from us who love hip-hop, so since there are plenty of rude words, it feels like it’s now or never. As a hip-hop lover, I want it to become huge. No matter how popular Freestyle Dungeon (2) is, I thought it would disappear after some years. But someday I noticed that it was doing pretty well, it seemed like people started searching for old CDs. I saw this vision.
But, when I talked to the staff members, they were counting on me (laughs). It was amazing, of course. So I felt like I was jumping up and down. It’s also nice that it’s not a solo battle; the teams are made of three people. For instance, if fans of Jiro (Yamada Jiro) are watching a battle and Jiro-chan is losing, him losing as only a part of Ikebukuro Division would make the fans feel less down. Fans wouldn’t want to see their favourite character losing, but if the defeat is shared by the whole team, it’d probably be easier to accept. The feelings of fans were well-considered.
And this is not just by chance. It’s unreasonable. So now the excitement is about “It will be like this” (laughs). Anyways, the excitement of the audiences is amazing.
※2:Freestyle Dungeon
A variety program broadcasted on TV Asahi. The appearance of rappers who have “Freestyle” battles, which requires improvisations of popular songs, have become famous amongst young people. It’s also one of the programs that shows the excitement of hip-hop nowadays.
——Has anyone ever directly said something to you?
Kimura: “Check it out, yo” (laughs). I also meet people that suddenly go “Thanks~”. And also some who say “What’s up” (laughs). It’s nice to see our audience using hip-hop slangs.
Amasaki: It feels like the distance is shorter now.
Kimura: A few times, they say “Yay~!” and high-five me (laughs). Once someone told me “I listened to the song” and I felt good.
Ishiya: I also got some letters. And in Twitter replies, some people would regularly reply with rap. I thought the girls who rap are amazing (laughs). And it’s not only girls, but some guys reply with it too. Kind of “It’s regrettable, but I’ll try my best”. Initially, the male rap fans seem to think that we’re “just that”. Then, I got a letter saying “Voice actors are supposed to sing, aren’t they? I’m amazed.” And with that I felt surprised and glad.
Kimura: I once received a direct message on Twitter saying “I am always ready for battle, please let me join Ikebukuro Division!” (laughs). And he’s a high school student so he said, “I’m also doing rap in high school and I got some reputation for my lyrics, I think I can show a sharp rap in the battle scene.” At first I thought “Don’t be conceited!”(laughs), but he was super passionate, and even sent me a YouTube link of his own rap. Such approach exists. Isn’t it amazing? The reaction wasn’t simply “I watched it”, “I like it”, nor “It’s cool”, but “Let me in, please!” (laughs). It’s absurd, but I thought I was one of the influences.
 ——It’s something you’re longing for, isn’t it?
Amasaki: I think that we have a lot of power. Whether it’s the power of a movement, to write an e-mail with rap, to use the rap terms... That’s what I put in a direct mail. I felt that I was moving a lot of people. Rap says that the power to move people’s heart is amazing.
As Someone Who Does Hip-Hop—— Have your impressions of “Hypnosis Mic” changed after working on the project?
Ishiya: My impression hasn’t changed. Since the first time I went to the recording studio the staffs’ intensity has not changed, even now they’re still on fire. It was as if I was burning (laughs). At the very beginning, we too, of course were very anxious. I think the staff must have been anxious too, but they didn’t show it at all. Because that intensity is always there, for about half a year it was like a machine gun, “Next one! Next one!” is it not coming out? It’s amazing, isn’t it?
Amasaki: Also, we didn’t think we would become regulars on the Nico live broadcasts. I think doing character rap battles, in a good way, granted me the privilege of trying out various things. I got to use the dummy head mic for recording, and tried a lot of new things; it was really fun.
——Has your perception of rap changed?
Kimura: My awareness has changed just a little bit. The songs I usually listen to are now used for collecting ideas, since then I’ve been listening to hip-hop as someone who also does hip-hop. Being involved with “Hypnosis Mic” means that I’m no longer a fan. Becoming a rapper myself of course means that I can’t be fan, right? That’s why it’s a great way of saying it, but listening as a kind of rival or listening as a teacher makes me stronger. It’s like looking for songs that give off a feeling of “Please teach me about rap”.
When it comes to the rappers’ characteristics, I started analyzing common phrases and such. “So with this person’s coolness and this person’s coolness all put together, then it can be super cool!” Something like that. So I began to do my research.
Amasaki: Because I was late touching up on hip-hop culture, it’s still a few years too early for me to get a feel for it, but still, my impression from then is much different from my impression now. Hip-hop really is still underground, it’s kinda bad.
Kimura: No, it’s super bad (laughs).
Amasaki: (laughs). There is that image, there are a lot of explicit words used, I really did have a scary impression of it. Since joining “Hypnosis Mic”, I’ve started to like rappers that don’t use lies. I really like raps with feeling. That's how it is; disses aren’t always insulting, and fighting doesn't have to be fighting. Even I’ve seen rap battles, it’s not just throwing raps at each other, there’s a proper handshake at the end. There are also proper rules in place; out of all things, what they were doing really changed my impression.
Perhaps I don’t know everything, but up until now I thought it would be good not to be afraid of touching upon it.
Ishiya: For me, “Hypnosis Mic” is the first time I’ve touched upon rap. That’s why the first time I heard it, my ears couldn’t keep up. It gave me a feeling like “Eh? Eh?” (laughs). No words came to mind. So I thought about adding rap to my daily life, I watched “Freestyle Dungeon” to try to understand how the rapper’s song always flow with such intensity. Yet, at home I mostly play songs that are calming (laughs).  And then, before I knew it, my ears were able to keep up. Both Amasaki-kun and I came up with the same opinion by ourselves, like when your opponent puts you down and you look clearly for a way to stand back up, to mutually respect and praise each other is the kind of rap I like a lot.
After all, I had a scary image of it to begin with. I easily thought it gave a “Yay~!” like feeling. But that wasn’t it. If you look properly and logically there’s a punchline. It’s as if there’s a story waiting to be completed; in between the disses there is always a story. And, the people that love rap look like they’re playing as a team in hip-hop. That’s why I think, as a member, it’s important to take to heart an emphasis of teamplay. I understand that there are things you can do with words by turning them into rap, my view on rap has changed greatly.
——I see. As expected, the two of you began listening to rap.
Ishiya: I have. It’s become part of my daily life now.
Amasaki: Until now, I really tried not to familiarize myself with it (laughs). I thought it would be nice to think that it was cool. I think it’s a good thing to be able to truly say how cool it is.
Why not go with everyone? —— Since the conversation topic has changed, and since the three of you are together, please tell us the PR point of Ikebukuro Division.
Kimura: Uhh... A sense of security (laughs). If it’s something Ikebukuro Division has and the others don’t, it’s a sense of security. I mean, they’re never going to betray each other (laughs). Calling it a bond sounds a bit weak, but these three will never betray each other, nor will they lie. In that sense, our point is how we’re so united. Like Yokohama Division would totally betray each other (laughs).
Ishiya: Because they’re corrupt (laughs).
Kimura: Yeah, yeah (laughs). That’s an important part of Ikebukuro Division, along with being their strength.
Ishiya: The bond of blood is strong, isn’t it?
——Compared to other divisions, their sense of unity feels more innocent.
Kimura: It’s because we have a supernova. Saburo is a middle school rapper! (laughs) Way past a newcomer. Way too strong (laughs). Middle school students who can fight against adults are cool. His future is worth looking forward to (laughs).
Amasaki: Thank you very much! (laughs)
Ishiya: Also, the names are easy to remember. Even the people who say “I can’t remember names” are sure to be able to remember Ikebukuro Division.
Kimura: However My mom is super oblivious (laughs), she kept saying, “I can’t remember their names”. So when I told her “It’s okay if you remember them as One, Two, and Three,” she remembered them as, “Ichitaro, Nitaro, and Santaro”. She was so close, but it’s not that rule (laughs).
Everyone: (laughs).
——That’s (laughs). I feel that when you first hear about “Hypnosis Mic”, you think of Ikebukuro Division.
Ishiya: While the music is strong, it’s also standard, so there’s a sense of security. It’s also a great introduction.
Kimura: These three are a team, but their personalities are the most different. So there’s a good balance as a team. While every team has a team color, Ikebukuro has red, yellow, and blue. It’s like all of “Hypnosis Mic” is displayed in Ikebukuro Division. Since this team has that kind of root, after listening to Ikebukuro Division, you have to listen to all of “Hypnosis Mic”. It’s like going ahead and passing us (laughs).
——Some time has passed since you’ve become a team, have your opinions on each other changed?
Kimura: It has, a lot. Lots and lots.
Ishiya: There wasn’t any for me. I first thought they both have strong hearts, and wouldn't flinch easily and I was right. You can see a glimpse of it. They keep a firm hold on what they want to do. After seeing their strength, I thought I should show my strengths as well.
Amasaki: Me too, my impressions on the others didn’t change, but I didn’t expect to like hip-hop this much. I never really touched it, so I could have missed out on something I came to love. So I’m glad I’m involved in this production.
Kimura: Everything changed for me. First of all, the raps are quickly improving. It shows in the recordings along with the freestyles we do during lives. There are some people who say “I like it” but don’t listen to it often. But these two listen to it a lot (laughs). They really do. So it’s not the fake type of love, but true love, and they fall deeper and deeper into it. When these two say they love hip-hop, it’s no lie. They keep searching and searching for more.
It’s quite rude, but honestly, at first I thought they were not fit for hip-hop. But it was nothing like that (laughs). They became great rappers. My thoughts in that area changed. Now we have a bond that can’t be compared to anything else.
——Is that why a part of you is excited?
Kimura: It’s very exciting, since I had no idea where it was going in the beginning. I thought they would definitely say, “This guy is annoying” (laughs). But these two accompany me, and say things like, “Recently I’ve heard that-”, and we talk about hip-hop together a lot. Things like that make me happy. I’m really sorry I had filtered out everyone like that. Everyone was genuine (laughs).
——(laughs). We didn’t hear most of your story, but it’s about time to wrap up. Finally,  please leave a message for the people who are enjoying “Hypnosis Mic”.
Amasaki: I was really pleased with the large response. At the same time, since it is reaching the eyes of so many people, I have to properly push myself and show how much effort was put into it. It’s a bit different from pressure, it’s like motivation. I would like to grow with the characters, and I hope to stay as the three from Ikebukuro Division, so for everyone to enjoy and for me to keep working with “Hypnosis Mic”, I will do my best.
Ishiya: With “Hypnosis Mic” I found myself to love hip-hop. And it became a part of my daily life. Also, just like Jiro, I don’t want to lose to Saburo (laughs). We don’t want to lose to each other, so there’s a part of us being good rivals. Additionally, I don’t want to lose to the other divisions. To do that, we must become stronger, since we are lacking in many areas. But I think wanting to continue as the three of us is a motivator. So, to the people who are cheering us on, I want people to listen and fall in love with the songs.
You can use us as a springboard to jump further and further into this world. I, myself, am still in the midst of jumping in, so I hope you use “Hypnosis Mic” as a gate into other opportunities. So, as the gate, I believe we have to hold ourselves up firmly. We just started this year and we hope to hone our skills to defeat our brother (laughs). I hope you support us.
Kimura: I believe in the possibilities of “Hypnosis Mic” and will fight the big mouth of hip-hop (laughs), I plan to change the Japanese music industry; so will everyone change it together with me? (laughs)
Everyone: Yeah!
Kimura: I feel like everyone will change it with us. I want to appear on Kohaku Uta Gassen (1) (laughs).
Ishiya & Amasaki: Kohaku!!!
Kimura: (laughs). Climbing higher and higher, like Kohaku. I want us to be like that. “Hypnosis Mic”’s All Stars was also appealing. Well Kohaku Uta Gassen is just a checkpoint (laughs). I feel like we should reach that first, though. Please support us! Or rather, would you like to reach it with us? In that way, we hope to work with you.
——Then please let us interview you when you reach Kohaku (laughs).
Kimura: Gladly! (laughs) But I think we’ll say the same thing as we did today (laughs). “I never imagined this would happen... (shaky voice),” or something like that.
Everyone: (laughs hard).
——(laughs). I look forward to it! Thank you very much!

Layers - Kohaku Son
Tumblr media
LAYER ONE : THE OUTSIDE
Name: “My name is Kohaku. But I have various nicknames and aliases~” Eye Color: “Blue, which is my favorite color. I suppose it depends on the lighting around me or my mood. They almost seem to change between grey and blue.” Hair Style/Color: “Naturally it is brown. Almost like a sandy brown. It has been a long time since I have had my hair past my shoulders. I usually keep it cut short. It is much easier to manage.” Height: “It is unfortunate, but I am very much on the short side. 4′9″... But do not let my height fool you! I will take on just about anyone.” Clothing Style: “Hmm? I am not sure I have a style. I do not really wear feminine clothing. I wear whatever is comfortable.”
LAYER TWO: THE INSIDE
Your Fears: “... I am afraid of losing control. Not in the sense of losing myself, but I like having a handle on what I am dealing with. If I am not in control then I cannot anticipate what happens.” Your Guilty Pleasure: “Oh, that is a secret! Well, maybe not so much... When I am just sitting around in the cities, I like to write detailed descriptions of the people around me. Sometimes I write small stories about them.” Your Biggest Pet Peeve: “Preying on the weak. I grew up around such things. I was weak myself and unable to do much.” Your Ambition for the Future: “Hmm, I am not sure I have one at this point in time. I don’t like to think too hard about the future.”
LAYER THREE: THOUGHTS
Your First Thoughts Waking Up: A sly smile crossed Kohaku’s face, “Well, usually it is about whatever I dreamed about! But I cannot go around telling everyone what goes on in my mind so early in the morning. It would reveal too much about my personal thoughts!” What You Think About the Most: “I usually think about what I am going to eat for lunch... or dinner.” What You Think About Before Bed: “This.... is really strange. Ummm, before bed is when I feel most lonely. So I always think about how it would be nice to have someone next to me. Not even in the romantic sense. Sometimes my close friend indulges me.” Your Best Quality Is: “I would say my best quality is how perceptive and observant I am. I pick up on little things quite easily. It helps when I am trying to find out about people.”
LAYER FOUR: WHAT’S BETTER?
Single or Group Dates: “Well, I have never been on a date. I am sure both of them have their ups and downs. Single dates are more intimate though, yes?” To be Loved or Respected: “Both!” Kohaku seemed rather passionate about this, “Being loved is supposed to be the best feeling. And I also would like to be respected!” Beauty or Brains: “I will not lie, I like to look at beautiful people, both male and female. But I also like someone with brains. Someone who could banter and debate back and forth with me. So brains. But both would be great~” Dogs or Cats: “I have to choose? They are both so cute! I do have a preference for cats though.”
LAYER FIVE: DO YOU?
Lie: “It is... necessary sometimes. Most of the time I just divert the attention elsewhere.” Believe in Yourself: “Yes. I would not have gotten this far in life if I didn’t” Believe in Love: “I do~ But it is also something hard to achieve. Especially something like true love.” Want Someone: Kohaku tensed up, a small blush crossing their cheeks, “I do not like to talk about my desires. That is a little too personal. But I can admit that there are some. Maybe~”
LAYER SIX: EVER?
Been on Stage: “Mhmm! I like to sing after all. So being on stage is not too strange for me~” Done Drugs: “No~ Unless you are speaking of medicinal drugs.” Changed Who You Were to Fit In: “No, not at all~”
LAYER SEVEN: FAVORITES
Favorite Color: “My favorite color is blue. I like all shades, too! Red is also a very nice color~ My second favorite.” Favorite Animal: “I don’t have a favorite~ I like most animals.” Favorite Food: ”Ah! My favorite food is Udon! I could eat that all day~” Favorite Game: “Games... Hmmm, I like hide and seek!”
LAYER EIGHT: AGE
Day Your Next Birthday Will Be: “My next birthday is during starlight season.” How Old Will You Be: “I will be an adult! Well, legally... I sometimes already feel like one. Old and falling apart~ That sort of thing.” Age You Lost Your Virginity: “W-what?! I haven’t! Surely, no one even thinks I am attractive enough to kiss! Why would anyone want to... do that?! I mean, I... have thought about what it would be like. That is too embarrassing!” Does Age Matter: “Yes, I would not want to date someone that is as old as my dad~ I feel like... dating is difficult at my age. Dating someone a little older is preferable... but they probably think I am young.
LAYER NINE: IN A BOY OR GIRL
Best Personality:  “Smart and doesn’t allow people to walk over them.” Best Eye Color: “I do not have a preference. All eye colors are beautiful when you look into them, honestly.” Best Hair Color: “Hmm? People truly have a preference about this?” Best thing to do with a Partner: “Are you trying to get a lewd answer out of me? The best thing to do with a partner for me would be to cuddle. I like the idea of being physically close to someone. It is comforting~”
LAYER TEN: FINISH THE SENTENCE
I love: “ The rain! Everything about it. The sound, the smell, the feeling~ It is just perfect~” I feel:  “ Content~” I hide: “My thoughts~.” I miss: “I do not exactly miss anything at the moment~” I wish: “for love~.”

i so love this!! not to hijack this but i wanted to add on. this is such a good way to put it because her character does seem disjointed in yashahime. i love that Rin, as a character, balances a healthy/sensible amount of passivity/humility with a strong will and courage to do what she feels is right. yes, she does love Sesshomaru and follows his lead, but even in the original series she doesn't just listen to everything Sesshomaru says. she always has her own opinions and feelings about things. just looking at the original series she:
looks out for Kohaku and sticks to her own first impression about him, despite the fact that Sesshomaru, until a little after Mount Hakurei, seems to dislike Kohaku and seems to be "hunting" him in the search for Naraku. when Kohaku joins, she seems to be the one who makes it an active priority of the group to include Kohaku and protect him.
warms up to Inuyasha and co. super easily. earlier on, she knows that Sesshomaru wants Tessaiga, knows that Sesshomaru and Inuyasha fight often, and she must hear Jaken talk smack about Inuyasha and his whole group all the time. but she is always friendly and warm towards them and never seems to hate Inuyasha. that's so key to me because if she just blindly followed Sesshomaru, she would be incredibly biased and hostile toward/afraid of them. she seems to make her own judgments regardless of what Sesshomaru thinks.
stands up to Sesshomaru when he uses the fragment of Kanna's mirror to duplicate Tessaiga in his last fight with Inuyasha. in the scene where she criticizes this action and Sesshomaru pauses, i always felt that Byakuya provided a different fight location in part because he understood that Rin's opinion could sway Sesshomaru's resolve to spring Naraku's trap.
understands Tenseiga is important and brings it along, despite the fact that Sesshomaru wants to just toss it...that's incredible to me that she knows it's just because he's in a "mood"--and then later he must have taken it when she gave it back to him which is essentially him admitting that, yes, he was just in a mood
i think they completely seemed to separate these two Rins from one another in Yashahime, where, in the original series, these were two integrated aspects of the same character. she really merits the constant comparisons to Kagome in the original because she is very loving and has a generous heart, but she's also very perceptive and stands up for what she thinks is right, in her own way and without being intimidated by her own limitations. i think, for me, i don't quite need her to be as willful or as much of a leader as Kagome is, but sometimes her total passivity in Yashahime made her feel very alienated from her character in the original series.
just my opinion, but i felt that their exchange when Sesshomaru was fighting Kirinmaru and he says, "Watch me from that spot--don't back away," and she responds "I won't" was a really wonderful way of showing both her willingness to follow his lead, and her own spirit and inner strength. they didn't do that enough.
so yes not to completely go off on a tangent about this but i love rin and i felt like they kinda did her dirt in Yashahime!!
You have plenty of salt despite how much you genuinely like Yashahime so... how about this: got any salt regarding Rin in particular?
OK AS A SESSRIN SHIPPER THIS IS A REALLY FUN ONE HOLD ON THIS HAS BEEN BUGGING ME FOR FUCKING AGES NOW
this is JUST my take feel free to disagree but i feel like there's lowkey
two Rins in this same show, that we see in S2. these are almost two separate characters but both are married to Sesshomaru, both were in the tree, and both are the parents of the twins
and like. i REALLY like one of these Rins
Tumblr media
(sorry about this horrible awful quality i'm on my work computer and don't wanna go take screenshots properly so i'm just using really old shitty phone pics i took a long time ago)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
LIKE. I REALLY LIKE THIS RIN. i like the Rin that literally held a fucking decomposing virus sword to her neck and outright told her husband "if it'll keep our kids safe then don't hesitate to cut off my head" or when KNOWING she couldn't do SHIT against Kirinmaru like... literally at MOST buying her kids like, three more seconds to live (and i might be REALLY generous with three seconds, just because i like Rin) knowing that Kirinmaru would just instantly slaughter her but still be willing to do that because she's a mom and that's her precious family she loves with all her heart
and then we get to shit like, "i can't hug you yet even though running up to you and hugging you before you could even Not Hug Me Back would've been what was most ic for me," stupid-ass bullshit, generally being extremely passive (which makes sense in some capacity considering she can't fight) and just kind of once again feeling like a character who only really follows around what Sesshomaru does and says
(i know that scene in the last episode is. VERY infamous and kind of well-deserved but like while i do agree that it was NOT the right art and voice acting direction i UNDERSTAND what it was TRYING to accomplish which i think is kind of in-line with the Rin i really like so i'm not as harsh on it as others even though it was given incredibly poor direction in how to be executed which is creating discourse about it To This Day)
like, i KNOW this was a filler episode, but remember that one episode where Jaken was poisoned and Rin, this little kid, completely on her own basically went into demon territory and risked her life just to get the herbs that would save Jaken? (correct me if i'm wrong about this one i THINK this is how it went it's been like over a year since i saw the movie) the kid that in third movie wanted to try to bodyblock Setsuna no Takemaru from being able to reach Kagome because even though Kagome was stronger than her, she wanted to protect someone she cared about?
i feel like ONE of the Rins in HNY is absolutely that little girl grown up and now a mother and still having that fire in her she's had her entire life and the other is. really just kind of there to follow Sesshomaru around. i really love one of these Rins a lot and the other Rin i'm. kinda apathetic about. i know there's only realistically so much she COULD have done being the one normal person among all these fighters with powers but STILL i feel like we only got to see that Rin in like, glimpses, which is a shame bc i REALLY like that Rin that has the biggest balls of pretty much everyone in this entire franchise
and that is my Rin salt ty for coming to my ted talk i need to make rp icons of Rin at some point that's unrelated to anything but i should go icon Rin one day

d&d ask meme - 4.
4 - My current campaign.CAMPAIGN 1:I mean you literally DM it you of all people should know what's going on. Baaaasically it's called 'Apogee of Ages' (rad name) and heroes haven't been necessary for, like, a BILLION years but now they are and oh shit. I believe the rough technology for the setting is both high fantasy and also the 1910s (think I'm getting that right). Also it's the first thing I've written fanfic for in ages and I'm v proud of it.PCs:Colm Blackmore - It me. Trash paladin who lost all his cash because he slept in a ditch and rolled a 0 on perception. Has a rad magical horse called Hronrād. Learning to have caution and also to care for new people.Ta Li Sa Kohaku - Also trash just a different trash from Colm. Wild magic sorcerer, and it shows. Pyromaniac with an unhealthy thirst for knowledge who beats themselves up about everything and shouldn't. The 'Heroes of Fire and Blood' is not a good party name. Also a heathen which is bad. Gwyn - A heathen which is bad. He's also trash but again a different flavour of trash. Old One warlock who is metaphorically horny for anything Lovecraftian. Looks like the voice of reason but isn't. At all.Sha Re - Looks like the voice of reason and is. At all. Literally the only sensible one in this entire campaign which is a problem objectively speaking. Old as fuck and knows basically everything. Wizard (not sure what school). Has never taken a single point of damage in his life.Adalet - I finally learnt to spell her name so now I can tell you with utmost confidence that she is also trash. Gave up all of her traumatic memories as a 'sacrifice' which was smart af. Once got possessed by a ghost and forced to relive a horrific house fire. Colm has never laser-beamed her. Raven Queen warlock.Calia (sp.?) - New rogue member of the party. Seems very polite and nice and kind but honestly I don't trust like that. We met them in Verskia and honestly nothing good has come out of that city yet.Camera Girl - I forget her name but I know it's a brand of camera. Cool monk who had an alcoholic teacher but had never touched it herself - until she met this party. Like with Gwyn, looks reasonable but is fully OK with facilitating shenanigans. Has never rolled below a 15 except ONCE and it was very very notable. Now likes to read a lot more than she used to.Ska Rev (retired) - Badass half-orc cleric with a glowing shield and a limited vocabulary. I cannot stress how well she was RPed re: the vocabulary it was amazingly done. Once just fucking climbed an entire kraken. Broke Ta Li's fingers which resulted in major major infighting.Selise / Celise (retired) - ALSO TRASH but we miss her loads. A rich brawl child. Will fight anyone and anything. Barbearian. Hooked up with an adventurer from a different party and ditched us for them. Fought Colm a lot.CAMPAIGN 2:OK so I'm also DMing a Curse of Strahd game for some other friends and it's chaos, PCs keep dying or touching clearly evil shit and hence getting incredibly corrupted. One player has been playing two separate characters for the past year or so.PCs:Puff of House Magic Dragon: Yes you heard that right. Alcoholic pyromaniac draconic sorcerer, Puff loves fire but also for some reason has a Staff of Frost. Currently covered in fur due to touching something he shouldn't and also I believe he currently has no eyes. Has killed two separate party members. Actually has a super tragic backstory and loves Tyalus.Tyalus - Puff's bf. Also played by the same player as Puff. A brad. Tyalus plays the bagpipes and also his surname is an anagram of 'bagpipes'. Tyalus is actually vaguely close to being sensible but also has the same furry-and-eyeless deal going on as Puff.Kara - Relatively new to the party, Kara is a paladin sent to track down another party member. Sadly she turned up and they were dead so now she's stuck with this lot. Recently came into ownership of a massive stone golem which she immediately named 'Lazarus' for some fucking reason.Ur'Go - Half-orc warlock. Along with Puff, one of only two of the original group currently left adventuring. Ur'go has a rad eyepatch now and also is a very very good cook. Is very much enjoying being invisible. Quiet, but pretty much the backbone of the team. Also she has skeletal wings now and is on a diet of bones and grave dirt don't question it.Barney 'Earbender'/'Kinslayer' Myastan - Seriously what is it with these dragonborn and their horribly tragic backstories. The only recorded instance of a hot pink dragonborn, Barney has recently developed a 19th century British accent. He is a frenzy barb who bakes cupcakes as therapy. All diplomacy is done via cupcakes. Have you heard of him? He currently looks like a corpse as a sacrifice to enable him to resurrect his little sister.Bella Myastan - Barney's little sister, the newest member of the group. Also a dragonborn with a tragic backstory. A life cleric. Enthusiastic and optimistic to a stupidly cute degree like what the fuck this literal child is not ready for the horrors of Barovia.Kithri Hillgallow (temporarily retired) - Kithri's player is currently living in Russia so she herself is trekking in the Barovian mountains / hyperbolic time chamber for the time being. The most wholesome land druid you'll ever meet, this halfling cartographer is like the most Hobbit-esque character in the world I swear down to you, no tragic backstory, loves Sunday roast. She recently acquired a rad hummingbird tattoo.Asher Martikov (guest character) - Still positive despite having lived in Barovia all her life. Cleric-in-training from a family of wereravens who, in her first and only combat, used a barrel of explosive goo as her hiding place from which she was firing her crossbow. Always amiable towards the party.Jeff (deceased) - Strahd's #1 fangirl. Incredibly unlucky both in game and out. Tiefling paladin who purchased a cool porcelain mask shortly before her accidental death at the burning hands of Puff. Her resurrection ritual failed, and in her honour, the party melted her down into Jeff soup. There is no way this can come back to bite them.To-ran (retired) - A peaceful human monk who wields a stale baguette and is weirdly good at making statues out of clay. Once even used this talent to smuggle two dead bodies out of a town. Touched 9 cursed items in under an hour, and is now incredibly evil. Abandoned the party recently in the dead of night.Lorelei (deceased) - One of the four originals (Puff, Jeff, Ur'Go, Lorelei), Lorelei took no shit from anyone, was crafty and greedy, and didn't trust a single member of the group, especially not Puff. Her greed was her downfall, as, in the Amber Temple, she split away from the group, only to be struck down by a powerful foe...I think that literally took me an hour to write hope it answers it!

It’s interesting how many of my featured screenshots this season have come from either Iroduku or Tsurune…  Probably because both shows keep leaving a deep impression each week.
Anyhow, hit the jump and let’s chat about those two and the rest of the shows I’m watching this season! The shows that I am watching are in bold, shows my wife and I are watching together are in bold italics, and strikethrough marks dropped shows.
Anima Yell! Ep 10
Cute as a button as always…  The first segment was an all-to-short beach/training camp trip for the girls of the Cheer Club.  No, no, not bemoaning the lack of fanservice (which would be way out-of-place in this series).  I just think they could have done more with the experience than to help Kana and Hizume sort out their interpersonal relationships.
I did enjoy the second segment, where there Cheer Club helped encourage the Manga Research Society to push through to their deadline.  It’s very cool that they haven’t restricted themselves to the traditional (read: sports) role of cheerleaders.
Bloom Into You / Yagate Kimi ni Naru Ep 10
This week is all about preparations for the school play…  And Koyomi proves awfully perceptive about Touko.   And the point about choosing who to be is driven home in a post-credits scene where we finally learn the real cause of Touko’s desire to “become her sister”…  She believes that she is responsible for her sister’s death (Narrator Voice: she isn’t) and feel’s guilty as hell about it.
Interesting…  and also a bit overdone.
I’m not certain though what Natsuki (Yuu’s former team-mate) is telling us.  At least part of it is that Yuu seems to be easily swayed by people she respects.  This casts a whole new light on her relationship with Touko.  It’s growing, but how much is real?  And how much is merely going with the flow?
Bunny Girl Senpai Ep 11 Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai / Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl-senpai no Yume wo Minai
This week was a slow burn episode…  Building up Kaede as she slowly expanded her world beyond the walls of the apartment.  In the beach scene it was great to see Nodaka and Mai chilling together.  (We even get a brief though mostly pointless cameo with Tomoe…  I like how this show doesn’t just drop the girls as their arcs come to an end.)
All episode though, I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop.  It’s never been this easy…  And then the cliffhanger….  Oh, that cliffhanger.
Also, if you hadn’t noticed…  Bunny Girl Senpai’s ending has been changing with each arc to feature the girl that’s the subject of that arc.  Evolving OP’s are uncommon, but evolving ED’s are very rare indeed.
youtube
This is versions 1-4…  Oddly enough, version 1 does not feature Mai.  Or any other girl who has appeared in the series so far.
youtube
This video has versions 2-5, dropping the unknown girl and adding Kaede.
And before I forget to mention it – Loved Mai and Mai/Sakuta at the beginning of this episode.
Iroduku Sekai no Ashita kara / IRODUKU : The World in Colors Ep 10
I was pleased to see Hitomi and Asagi sit down and sort things out between themselves like actual functioning human beings.  It’s nice to see two characters actually communicate their feelings!  Maybe now that Hitomi has given her a bit of a push, Asagi can confess to Sho.  But I kinda get the feeling she’s cooled on him just a little bit…  That’s partly his fault for having all the sensitivity of the average lump of granite, partly hers for being too afraid.  But I can understand her being afraid…  Confessing to him risks destroying their friendship.
After this scene, and reading other blogger’s thought’s about this episode…  something struck me like a bolt of lightning:  What if Grandma sending Hitomi into the past really isn’t really about Hitomi at all?  It’s quite plausible that she’s sending a message about being gentle with those who can’t or won’t use magic – to her own past self.
I can’t quite put my finger on it…  But looking at Kohaku and Hitomi’s relationship and the way Kohaku has been involved with helping Hitomi to accept magic…  That theory seems to make an increasing amount of sense to me.
It will be interesting to see if Hitomi tells Kohaku what she just told Yuito…
Run with the Wind / Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru Ep 11
In some ways this is Takashi’s character episode…  Showing how hard he’s working on getting the fan club organized while also being dedicated to running.  On top of all that, his girlfriend leaves him because she’s getting so little of his attention.  (Argh!  I hate that particular trope.  Did he explain?  Did she not care?  We haven’t been told the whole story and that’s annoying too.)  They drop the issue, so maybe he’s OK with that?
I can’t remember if I’ve mentioned it before, but kudos to the staff for the way they’re handling the ensemble cast.  I bitch when it’s done badly, so I need to remember to praise when it’s done well.
Speaking of the ensemble cast – they don’t forget to keep us abreast of their progress too.  Three more members of the team make their official times.  And I think there’s no member left who isn’t fully onboard…  When extra practice is proposed, Prince takes off without a word.  Even King makes only a token protest before joining in.
We also get a couple of scenes reminding us of Haiji’s injury…
And who is the guy at the end, and what is his connection to/interest in Kakeru?  Why do I have a feeling his past is coming to haunt him again?
Sword Art Online: Alicization Ep 10
Yes, I know there’s a ton of controversy about the objectionable content in this week’s episode.  I’ll not be discussing it because I don’t see that I can say anything that hasn’t already been said or bring anything new to the discussion.
Tumblr media
What caught my eye was Raios being trapped in an infinite loop…  Kikuoka explained how, until Alice, nobody had violated the Taboo Index.  (And that was only by accident, though he didn’t know that.)  Raios was clearly trying to do so – and ended up caught in a loop between saving his skin, and violating the Index.
How many times has this happened before?  I’d love to know, and I suspect it would be of interest to Kikuoka & Co. too…   But so far as we know, they can only detect outright violations.  Which means that Eugeo being able to violate the Index is setting off all kinds of alarms bells along about now.
Speaking of Eugeo, he seemed able to break through by sheer force of will.  I suspect that’s due to Kirito’s influence more than anything innate to the ALICE experiment.
Tsurune / Tsurune: Kazemai Koukou Kyuudou-bu Ep 8
I have rarely seen a tournament episode so thoroughly chill…  There wasn’t much emphasis on drama, and a ton of emphasis on the experience.  (If that makes sense.)
There were also a ton of good character moments, with pretty much each character getting some screen time…  Most fascinating was Onogi turning introspective.  It was cool the way his bow did turn, but naturally and not as far as when he was faking it.  Minato’s shot was, of course, a thing of pure beauty…  I couldn’t find any one screenie that would capture it.  Probably time to try a video, but I’m running behind on getting this week’s entry finished…
I’m not sure I buy them getting into the next round though…  Even though it was emphasized that they barely squeaked in, it just doesn’t sit right with me.
